On the Grid : Central Standard

"Not that we needed another reason to visit South Congress Hotel, Central Standard tops the list of classic American bar and grills in Austin. The raw bar features oysters, lobster, crudos, other shellfish, and seafood towers. While the seafood tower was the showstopper of the night with raw oysters, clams, and maine lobster, I absolutely died over the uni butter toast." - A Taste of Koko

Candy Cane Malört Triggers a Chicago Social Media Feud | Eater Chicago

"After purchasing the Jeppson’s Malört brand two years after Nisei’s candy-cane infusion, CH Distillery began releasing high-priced, limited-edition Malört bottles since October—pumpkin spice (with hints of cranberry, turkey bouillon, and sage), candy cane, and others—marketing them with a charity component and saying the effort raised $45,000 for groups like Vision for Children at Risk and Lemons of Love; I observed that the releases prompted backlash accusing the company of inflating prices (bottles sold for $150) and failing to credit bars such as Nisei, and founder Tremaine Atkinson defended a broad apology by noting many bars contributed to the infusion culture while CH has also expanded distribution to places like Milwaukee and Washington, D.C., with shipping to select states." - Ashok Selvam

The food, atmosphere and service was top notch. They had many gf options for my husband. Abraham was a terrific server and very helpful. This is a must stop as nothing is bad. I had the chicken curry and the chicken was very tender. They make everything I. Hose. They had a Door cherry vodka and their bourbons were fabulous. We came home with two bottles of bourbon. Highly recommend.

Google
Awesome restaurant. Cool interior, great drinks, and terrific food. Our server was one of the best ever - super friendly in a genuine way. I had the old fashioned French toast with a side of eggs and it was perfect (not too sweet). My wife had the turkey club gluten-free with fries and a side of ranch. She said it was great. We also had a couple zero proof cocktails, the buzz free honey bee cooler and the cucumber basil booster. Both were good and very reasonably priced.

Google
A cool nice place to have a drink. Open and real nice! Bar was nice, and Sammy helped us. She was nice. Cool spot to stop in for a drink or a few bites. Rooftop area as well to check out! 10% off shirts/gear if you dine in!

Google
Great food. Soup off the day was great! It was a chowder. It was warm. The cheese curds were great. The dip was better than oak barrel but oak barrel took the cake on the curds. Awesome atmosphere

Google
Awesome spot for food & drinks. Bartenders make great drinks & actually interact with customers Rooftop is a bonus place to enjoy your drink although there didn't appear to be a separate bar up there Update: not sure why, but the closing staff is no where near as friendly & welcoming as the morning staff despite there being less people & less offered (kitchen closed). I felt like I was inconveniencing the staff when I came back in the evening.

Google
Awesome interior, wish they served full drink/food on roof top. Bloody Mary’s were good, deviled eggs were top notch until I found a piece of glass in mine. Thank goodness I felt it on my tooth and it did not cut my mouth. The GM was there, apologized and comped the drinks. I thought it was deserving of a comped meal. Took longer than the usual time to obtain the check. After that experience don’t make me wait to pay. And don’t make me wait to get my chsnge back.

Google
Hands down best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. My partner and I came in for brunch for our anniversary and were treated like celebrities with a hand written card and Prosecco — truly above and beyond by the team and our amazing server Chloe. Food was incredible and Chloe went the extra mile to make sure my gluten allergies were taken care of. I can’t recommend this place enough, for the service along but the food and drinks were incredible. I can’t wait to come back! Must stop by if you’re in the area. Thank you Chloe and the team for making the day so incredible we were both so touched!

Google
First time here. We came with a group of 4, and had a 7pm reservation. The place was less than half full. Got a high top, towards the rear of the dining room. There is some nice light coming in the from the large south facing windows. The building is historical and restored, and the sloping floor might take getting a little used to. Our server did a great job of getting us settled in with water, and menus. (and they did a great job the entire evening - thanks Mckinley!) They have an excellent selection of different cocktails. We decided on a couple of different Old Fashioned that were excellent. The dinner menu also had lots of good choices to pick from. To start we had some cheese curds. These are from Valley Dairy and had a Bourbon batter. Came out hot, creamy cheese and a very flavorful. The rest of the meal entrees were an eclectic mix Walleye, Chicken Piccata, Pork Chop and Smashburger. My smashburger was very good, although it could have been even better, if could just a bit longer for more caramelization. The Pork Chop was the perfect temperature and doneness. Super tender too. The Truffle Spoonbread was as good as the pork chop. The other entrees were hits as well. We left room for some dessert, and ended up splitting a piece of the Tiramisu. Which can sometimes be tricky (or stale/soggy), but this piece was as good as the rest of the meal. The entire evening was a hit. We all agreed that it's a place that we could easily return to.

Yelp
A fantastic staple of Milwaukee. I have been a fan of theirs for years because they have creative drinks and always are growing their products. A great place to stop by after work or with an out of town client. Friendly staff willing to go above and beyond if needed. The rooftop garden is amazing. It is surprisingly quite for being by the highway Parking around this area can be tough but there are a lot of paid lots around so be prepared to walk a block or two.

Yelp
We stopped in today after a long day, and the experience was disappointing from the start. The front desk attendant (Pam Bondi look-alike) rolled her eyes at us, then said it would be a 20-30 minute wait--even though there were plenty of empty tables. At 2:32, she also informed us that if we sat down, we could only order from the snack menu that doesn't even start until 3:00. Seriously? We decided to walk over to Bavette instead, where we were seated immediately and treated with respect. There were seven of us--this would have easily been a $400+ meal. Safe to say we won't be back.

Yelp
We had such an enjoyable night here (our first night in Milwaukee) and as they say the Midwest is the Best - our bartender and the locals around us cultivated some really fun and helpful information as we are here scoping out a potential move. On top of that, we loved our cocktails and the shot of Door County's Cherry Vodka! As for the cocktails - we started with the Wisconsin Old Fashioned (brandy/sweet) and really enjoyed them! Then switched it up and tried the Milwaukee Sour (very interesting twist with the grape juice foam top) and off of their fall 2025 speciality cocktail menu ordered a "gone campin" and it was everything dreams are made of - the toasted marshmallow on top was giving campfire. Also, I loved that they offer zero proof drinks, very inclusive! Absolutely loved their aesthetic and design, we sat briefly at their blue velvet booth like chairs but then moved to the bar and stayed there bc the conversation was so good! I also couldn't resist snagging a comfort colors 100% cotton crop top of "bourbon made me do it" t shirt!!

Yelp
Great place downtown for drinks with a view! Love the exposed cream city brick, relaxed vibe and rooftop. Drinks are solid, there's great happy hour specials and we don't often have trouble getting a bar seat during the week. There's table seating if you're looking to dine-in too. I'm a big fan of the shareable big pretzel - it's the whole grain aioli dipping sauce that gets me every time ;) SO good. This place is worth checking out especially if you work downtown and want to hit up a happy hour with coworkers.

Yelp
Had a great experience here, sitting at the bar chatting with Sam. She recommended a few bourbons for a flight and then made an excellent seasonal gin-based cocktail. I watched her make drinks for about an hour and it was quite impressive. I certainly learned a few tricks of the trade! Don't sleep on the Brussels salad...it's a winner. Cool place for cocktails and food. Chill vibe and nice folks. Will visit again if I'm ever back in the area.

Yelp
Finally got to check out Central Standard as they are know for their rooftop bar. We came on a Friday night and it wasn't busy surprisingly. When you walk in there is a huge space for seating with nice couches and chairs to the left and the bar further down the way. There is a bar on that floor and the rooftop. We got our drinks to go on the roof and the views are stunning and surprisingly we were able to find a table on the roof. The music isn't too loud so you can actually talk to one another. Now the drinks were not the best. All of the liquor they use is ones they distill so they don't have tequila if that's your cup of tea. My friend got an espresso martini and let's just say it was not the color a typical espresso martini was. It was a super light brown and almost see through. I got also a bourbon old fashioned and they for sure pour a mean drink all you could taste was the liquor so I'd say you get a bang for your buck. I probably would not come back for drinks but peoples food looked good so I would come back at least for that.

Yelp
Very inviting as I come in. Love the little vases with flowers on each table. The sitting area by the window is great. The dining area towards the back is also great, but the floors are a little weird and slopes at odd angles. So I was uncomfortable sitting at our table. Our server was friendly and caring, and we felt very well taken care of. The standard Salad (green Goddess dressing) The dressing was a bit more vinaigrette-y than the green goddess I'm used to. So the salad was also a bit more vinegary than I would have liked. Parmesan & chive hummus Comes with naan and veggies! Delicious! Smash burger I asked whether the substitute lettuce for the buns could be whole leaves, and they don't have that, but they put garden salad mix instead. Very thoughtful. The patty itself was a bit salty. Fries that came with had been sitting out for a while. Beer can chicken sandwich Great sandwich, and tasty, but again, chicken was a bit on the salty side. Otherwise, it was great. Only complaint is that it seemed small. Hopefully not the norm, but maybe just cuz it's for dining week. Key Lime Pie So good! Loved the lime flavor exuding! Chocolate Cheesecake Total opposite of the key lime pie, but perfect to eat along with! Overall, great, with just a few things that could have pushed the bar up to 5.

Yelp
I give the place 3.5 (my dish was overcooked) but everybody else's food was made well. I ordered the pork chops and the dish looked fabulous but when I cut into it it was really dry and I ended up not eating it. But the staff was nice and offered to make a new dish but I wasn't very hungry and didn't want to be wasteful. The restaurant provided a couple drink coupons for a buy one get one free. The restaurant has a cool modern but classic cream city design but the design doesn't absorb sound well so it is really loud there. We checked out the rooftop which would be nice on warm nights.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Central Standard, and wow, was I impressed! I ordered the cheese curds and the smashburger. The cheese curds were definitely not my favorite, but they were still good. The breading remind me of a tater tot. The smashburger was amazing! I loved the house burger sauce on it. I made mine a double, and it was super filling. The fries were seasoned so well too. Service was excellent! The wait staff and bartenders were so kind. I even bought a bottle of Door County Cherry Vodka to take home with me, and I got a cute little carrying bag for it. I'll definitely be back to try some of the cocktails!

Yelp
Stopped for Milwaukee Downtown Dining Week only to find out that they weren't honoring it on the weekend for lunch. Why have the dates/menu posted without this exception?? We stopped in and waited a bit for a hostess to make it back to the front. We asked after the dining week lunch and were told it's only going to be served Monday - Thursday. Nothing on their website to confirm beforehand and we even tried calling first but no one picked up. Frustrating when you make the trek, park, etc all for nothing. The place looks cozy and would've liked to try it but we're not fans of brunch. As an aside, found out they at least offer a discount with parking inside.

Yelp
So happy I stopped by for breakfast during my short stay in Milwaukee. I started with the hash brown poppers and followed up with a short stack of pancakes--both were seriously delicious. The hash browns had a soft egg center, which was a nice surprise. They could've used a bit more salt, but the zingy, refreshing sauces totally made up for it. And the fact that there was caviar involved? Big win in my book. Now those pancakes--wow. The vanilla flavor really came through in every bite. I absolutely loved them. Definitely try this spot. They have so many fun options to choose from.

Yelp
Visited this place for brunch to celebrate my grandson's 18th birthday. Parking street or lots were easily accessible. Others in the party said their past experience was good and the food was enjoyable. That didn't turn out to be the case today. First the service was fast, friendly and very accommodating. We were a party of nine and they initially seated us at high top tables. One of the elderly in our party had problems with that so they quickly arranged to seat us at a normal table. The restaurant is located in an older building with high ceilings and an open arrangement of tables and a bar. Needless to say these kinds of facilities tend to be loud and this one was. Table settings were simple but included linen napkins, something I always appreciate. We ordered a variety of meals off the brunch menu; waffles, a burger, steak and potatoes, salmon on a bagel, an omelet and a skillet. When asked most said their meal was ok but nothing special. Other comments were that the waffles were dry as were the potatoes on the steak dishes. All the portion sizes were generous. My choice was the 3 egg omelet with three additions (cheddar cheese, ham and tomatoes). Calling my dish an omelet was a misnomer. It was more like scrambled eggs with tomatoes and ham thrown in, the cheese was not discernible. It's rare to find something over seasoned now days, but this dish was so heavy on the salt and pepper it was almost inedible. Hash browns were served with the omelet and they were browned nicely. I also ordered a pineapple mimosa which was good. My bill alone without tip came to approximately $25. I rated this restaurant 3 stars on the basis of all the guests comments about their meals. If I had rated on my meal alone it would have been lower. Not sure I would go back again or recommend it to someone else.

Yelp
The rooftop of this place is perfect to enjoy a delicious cocktail and a great view of downtown Milwaukee. We enjoyed a few cocktails on more than one night on their rooftop. On a busy night, they'll have a bartender up there, but if it's quiet, just have the bartender on the ground floor put your drink in a plastic cup. We loved our Wisconsin old fashioned drinks as well as their Cabin Strength Bourbon on the rocks. A great local establishment.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on a Sunday and it was not busy at all so I could hear my friend clearly. I was disappointed to realize I couldn't order the snacks I saw on their online menu as we were only give me a brunch menu. I guess that just means I have to return! To start, we ordered a dirty dirty chai and an espresso martini. My chai was delicious, perfectly spiced with the smooth oat milk. Honestly got a nice buzz from it. However, my friend could not drink hers. This espresso martini is definitely for someone who loves the taste of coffee. When i couldn't finish her drink either, the waitress was kind enough to get us oat milk. My food was also delicious! I got the Brunch burger with a beef and chorizo patty, no onions, over hard egg, and cheese. The flavors complimented one another plus it was filling!! I also had the monkey bread which looked beautiful but I thought it was a little dry.

Yelp
What a great space! Wandered in during a weekend trip to Milwaukee and would definitely make it a stop again! Happened to be during their anniversary celebration so, got some party treats and a boozy ice cream tasting! Their rooftop is cute, but no shade at all, and could be a little more seating. The view is of the highway, but....what can you do? Definitely a cute little space. The downstairs was bright and open, plenty of seating and tables, and we ordered a round. Non alcoholic drinks were really Good too, and everyone was super kind and polite!

Yelp
Date of service: July 9, 2024 We wanted to go somewhere nice for our anniversary as our friend was taking us out. She was looking for somewhere with a rooftop and I had heard that Central Standard had a good one but I found out after placing the reservation that the rooftop was just for drinks (odd, but okay) but we went ahead and stuck with the dining room for dinner. Central Standard went all out for the occasion! Unfortunately much of it was wasted on me as I don't drink and they gave us a free flute of sparkling chardonnay and a nice card signed by the staff. They also came around with a special limited edition whiskey (again, wasted on me). Food was a bit more uneven: The cheese curds were quite good, but the fries were pretty meh. The aioli was definitely the best part there. I had the shrimp and scallops and was quite underwhelmed for the price. But I would definitely come back and try again based on the wonderful experience!

Yelp
So my sister and I decided to stop at Central standard for lunch today. When you first walk in we notice how exceptionally clean it is!!! The ambience decor is so cute!! We then ordered our lunch. I had a fish sandwich with coleslaw and some really good seasoned french fries. My sister had a salad with Gorgonzola cheese. It was absolutely delicious. Oh, she also had vegan chili, which was a little bit on the spicy side, but so spicy good! We both ended up getting Brandy old-fashioned's. But my sister got the Brandy old-fashioned with toasted rosemary!! It was outstanding!! Our service, our bartender, who was also our waiter by the name of Max was extremely outgoing, greeted us with a humongous smile and treated us as if we were queens for the day! We will definitely return. Thanks for making our afternoon so special.

Yelp
While visiting Milwaukee we wanted to try a fun spot for brunch and landed on Central Standard Crafthouse. To start, the inside is very spacious with a cool vibe. Our server was attentive and kind. Unfortunately, the food to me was a bit lackluster. Nothing terribly bad about it, but pretty bland. Each dish was really lacking in seasoning and we left a bit disappointed by our meals. Overall, this seems to be more of a trendy spot for pictures and/or events. To be fair, we didn't try out any of their cocktails. However, if you're looking for quality food, maybe steer clear.

Yelp
A nice, kid friendly spot! We manage several allergies, and this place is celiac or wheat allergy friendly. They have great GF cheese curds, buns for burgers, and salads. It's got a nice vibe with tvs, a long table for communal drinks and typical seats.
google avatar

Catina C.

Yelp
I love this plane. Kitchen was not ready for Downtown Dining Week. Service at the bar was excellent. Arrived at 12:30. Ordered Aoili fries, burger, and let lime pee. In a hour and a half I only received 2 courses. Was given the burger at 1:09. Left at 1:49 with no key lime pie. I love this place normally. Most folks Downtown only have an hour for lunch. I topped more than borehole. So $38 dollars was a burger, aoiki fries, and an amazing cocktail.
google avatar

Kyle C.

Yelp
Saw the place as a top Yelp destination, and it was okay. Nothing special and very expensive. Food was good, service was meh. Cool place but the rating in comparison to other spots isn't accurate to our experience.
google avatar

Ashlee A.

Yelp
The cheese curds were great, the service was super slow, they do accommodate food allergies, and the atmosphere was quite loud for a Saturday at 2pm. The morning mile was a delicious cocktail.
google avatar

Kristen S.

Yelp
Quinoa salad was so good, I can't stop thinking about it. Visited during lunch on a Friday. Service was fast, waiter was attentive.
google avatar

Yelp
Fries and Wisconsin Old Fashioned are staples. Mojito with the local vodka is a great touch. Great atmosphere and a beautiful rooftop view.
google avatar

Yelp
Went before a concert, place was lively and busy. Cute ambiance, wait staff was nice and food was quick and delish. just a little loud in my opinion, wouldn't recommend for something intimate but rather a social situation
google avatar

Yelp
The perfect spot for an after-work happy hour with colleagues! Great drinks, delicious snacks, and a great atmosphere supporting an awesome local business. What more could you want?!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a pre-game Bucks dinner here...sat at the bar...The bartenders were very knowledgeable about their many different in-house liquors as well as their loads of specialty cocktails. Had the pecan-encrusted walleye for dinner which came with a great sauce. The chocolate cheesecake was great...with a raspberry drip sauce that was fantastic. Went upstairs to check out the rooftop deck and drink my after-dinner drink. Definitely a cool spot that I am sure is packed when the weather is nice.
google avatar

Dominic D.

Yelp
We came here for lunch and it had great Milwaukee vibes. Very nice and clean with a nice bar area. Service was quick and organized for our large group of over 10 people. The sandwich was nothing special but I would come back for the drinks.
google avatar

Clara S.

Yelp
This was a cool distillery, but maybe not the best place to grab food if you're looking for a nice restaurant aesthetic. Unfortunately the rooftop is only for drinks, so we dined inside in the freezing ac first before going up to the rooftop. Our service and food were great though. We shared the crab cake, which was delicious. However a little deceiving that the menu says plural and it's only one. I also got the standard salad with salmon, and this was kind of a small portion but otherwise tasty and fresh.

Jill C.

Yelp
Our server, Abraham, was very helpful explaining the menu options and describing their craft spirits. The food was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

Brenda W.

Yelp
Everything was delicious, and Corbin was wonderful! Salmon was an amazing recommendation.

Sabrina J.

Yelp
The decor and ambience was very nice. Modern and rustic decor, nice open seating area, beautiful lighting, gorgeous bar... very nice set up. The breakfast food left a little to be desired, which is the reason for the 3 star rating. We started off with the fries and aioli which was very delicious. The fries had a nice crispness and were generously salted. The aioli was garlicky and had a nice flavor. Unfortunately, that was the peak of the meal for us. The tortilla chips in the chilaquiles were soggy... the flavor was okay, but just not the right texture. The bacon was also underdone - floppy and lacking a crispness to it. The brunch burger was decent, but it came with some unseasoned potatoes (that looked very tasty? But ended up being very bland). Overall, the brunch was unremarkable, unfortunately.

Yelp
I ate here for downtown dining week and the food was good. It's a distillery so they a lot of ales, etc you can try. The service is fast and friendly. They also have a rooftop overlooking i94 and downtown area, which is great for watching the fireworks in the summer.

Yelp
Service: 4.5/5 typically very quick (once at a time that it wasn't), with servers who are nice and helpful Food: I've only had the apps but they are amazing. The smoked trout dip is my favorite in the city. The curds are some of the best I've had. The tuna poke nachos are refreshing! Ambiance: it's a cool vibe. Haven't made it up to the rooftop because it's been crowded, but looks nice! Drinks: 5/5, they're not expensive and always delicious. The basil gimlet, mojito, and Wisconsin old fashioned are phenomenal!

Yelp
I've been here 3 times now and each time has been awesome. The service is always spectacular - I don't know where they find their servers but they have all been very personable and helpful. The interior is always clean with a fun vibe. Lots of cool lighting and industrial feel decor. I have gotten different food each time that I have visited. Most recently I tried out their cheese curds and tuna poke. Cheese curds were awesome. I'm the cheese queen so trust me. Tuna poke was also fantastic.

Yelp
A friend and I had dinner here while in town for Summerfest. I'm so glad that we did! We made a reservation and were quickly seated. The decor is modern and the restaurant feels airy and bright. We each ordered a drink - I had the espresso martini while my friend ordered the bombardier. Our server was super friendly. We ordered an appetizer that had a trio of hummus, whipped feta, and tzatziki, as well as a tuna poke. Both were delicious but the trio is seriously a must order. The hummus was SO good. We had the quinoa bowl and the brussel salad for dinner. The chicken in my quinoa bowl was perfectly cooked and my friend mentioned that her salad dressing was amazing. We will be back next time we are in Milwaukee!

Yelp
My daughter is a hostess here and we surprised her by coming in. The place is beautiful! It has these beautiful plank floors and cream city brick. We sat towards the back and had some pretty potent drinks. Mine was a smoked Rosemary Old Fashion and the hubby had a whiskey sweet Old Fashion. We also sampled their gin. They distill off site. They do sell bottles and merch in a small area. Our pretzel was huge! We wanted an app to share. We ended up taking it home. There is a rooftop deck and a large communal table too. I'd like to come back again for dinner.

Yelp
Brunch at Central Standard is my favorite little hidden gem! It's one of a few brunch places in MKE that take reservations and also has bottomless! During my latest visit I ordered the smoked salmon (bagel) which was huge!! Like seriously I could have split it with someone. It was really tasty though, I loved the freshness that the arugula and red onions provided, though I did find the fried capers a little too salty. After brunch we made our way up to the roof to enjoy the beautiful sunny day and a cocktail.

Yelp
We were visiting Milwaukee and stopped by this place for dinner on Memorial Day. Service was friendly and fast. Drinks were delicious: ordered an old-fashioned. The food was amazing! Cheese curds tasted so fresh, airy, and rich at the same time which was definitely a gem! And the best we've tried on our WI trip! We ordered the rissoto and walleye for entrees, and were blown away by the taste and quality of the ingredients. Highly highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Food - 5 star Service - 4 star Ambiance - 5 star Check in on Yelp! They had an offer when I dined! I came in solo and sat at the bar. Service was slower than it probably should have been considering there were only 3 people at the bar which was surprising since the bartenders said they were slow... concerning comment for service if they were busy! The bartender was friendly. Food was great, cocktails were good (I preferred the mule over the fizz don't kill my vibe). I would definitely return! They have a rooftop bar - cocktails only - and the bartender asked for every guest to bring their empties back down to the bar. This did clutter the bar a little next to me a bit - I feel like there could be a better process. I would recommend tho and will return if I'm in town again!

Yelp
This place has awesome vibes and great for a day/night of drinking and grub. However, the experience could have been polished a bit. My group and I had no problem sliding in before the rush. We went straight to the roof top. On the way up, I glanced over at a table and the food looked pretty awesome but we didn't come for it. At the rooftop, the bartender station, the register wasn't working, so he was redirecting people downstairs. We decided to wait it out and eventually the credit card machine was up and running. Then we discovered free vouchers for a signature cocktail were given out when you first walk in. The bartender was frustrated at first so he gave off a bad attitude, but eventually he started to come around. He was swamped with patrons which caused him to make poor decisions like scooping ice with his hand from the machine into the cup. Eventually he found the scoop and started using it, and of course that's when I ordered my drink. Other than that, it wasn't a bad experience. If I ever came back to town, I would stop in again.

Yelp
Great roof top views of the city. Moscow mule was good. Had non alcoholic drinks too. Bar service was quick, even with a large group. Easy parking

Yelp
Cheese curds are delish. Drinks are wonderful. Bartenders are kind. And the rooftop bar is very cool just limited seating. + limited drinks upstairs. Over all super cool!!!

Yelp
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant and rooftop. The view upstairs is gorgeous on a summer day. One of the times I came, I ordered one of their featured cocktails, which I enjoyed but didn't stand out to me. I also came here for dinner with some friends one night and ordered the pappardelle pasta; it tasted pretty good but for the price, I felt it was a bit expensive. Additionally, we had a table of 8-9 people and when we ordered appetizers, we weren't brought any small plates, which made it challenging to share the dishes we ordered. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for its rooftop if you're looking for a cute place to grab a drink this summer!

Yelp
Central Standard makes some of my favorite cocktails in Milwaukee. I like that they have a distillery where they make everything in-house. The food is pretty good, too. I really enjoyed my Philly cheesesteak and the Churro French Toast during brunch. The staff is always nice and welcoming. It's a great spot for a date night or pregaming before a night out on the town. I can't forget about the rooftop during the summer months. It's a nice vibe.

Yelp
We popped into Central Standard during a snowstorm. It was our anniversary and we thought we'd give it a try. What a great time we had. We hung out there for 2 and a half hours, chatting with some awesome bartenders. Their mixed drinks were excellent - particularly the smoked rosemary old fashioned and the patio pounder. I also found the Cabin Strength Red Cabin to be amazing. Already knew I was a fan of regular Red Cabin. But the cabin strength was ridiculously smooth for a high alcohol whisky. We got the fries with aioli and the chilaquiles - delicious on both counts. Honestly, it was a wonderful time on a special day for us. I need to get back there soon - particularly since I saw other people get the chicken and waffles, and they looked incredible!

Yelp
The 'newer' location on Clybourn is huge! Love the decor, decent ambiance at the bar, and delicious drinks! Acoustics can be a bit wonky when large groups or crowds get a little wound up but I dig the environment around a normally chill happy hour. I like their menu offerings for both libations and bites and it seems there's something to satisfy everyone's palette or particular taste preferences. FYI - this newer space can definitely accommodate larger groups.
