If you are having a bad day, eat at Athens Gyro.
I guarantee two things will happen: 1. You will leave with a smile on your face and 2. You will leave with a happy belly!
The owner is as friendly as a puppy at the animal shelter looking to be adopted. A contagious glowing smile and gushing sincerity to have you as a customer. The best word that I can use to describe him is jolly. He is too skinny to play a Santa Claus and the accent wouldn’t’ work, but with his personality he would make a good one.
My wife and I had the gyro special. A meat filled gyro, fries and a drink. (check the pics) We added a side of the hummus. The food is served up fresh, hot and fast. It is a delicious filling meal. Since this was our first visit the owner gave us a sampling of his fine baklava.
It is clean, minimal décor, and today the tv in the corner was playing a documentary “The Night of the Grizzly,” which made for interesting lunch conversation.
This little restaurant inconspicuously located just north of 51st Street on County Line (193rd) in the Stone Creek Retail Center. I remember when it opened a couple of years ago. I thought that it would never last a year. Well, it has been a couple of years now. The owner makes the difference!
