Best Totchos and Loaded Tots in Portland | Eater Portland

"Backwoods Brewing in the Pearl gets creative with beers like its dreamsicle golden ale and pecan pie porter, and that ethos extends to the food menu. Nachos feature pulled pork, and can be upgraded to totchos for $2 extra. The potatoes come with all the usuals, including shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and jalapeños, plus a drizzle of barbecue sauce made with the brewery’s Copperline Amber ale." - Janey Wong

Washington’s Backwoods Brewing Will Fill the Vacant Pearl Tavern Space - Eater Portland

"Backwoods Brewing Company is crossing the border from Washington to open a new location in Portland's Pearl District, taking over the space formerly occupied by Pearl Tavern. The new venue will feature a family-friendly environment with all-ages hours for lunch and dinner. While specific details on the food menu are not fully disclosed, it is expected to include items like pizzas, grilled sandwiches, and a children's menu, focusing on local and high-quality ingredients. The beer offerings will consist of straightforward but excellent pilsners, IPAs, and pale ales." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Nice local pub in downtown Portland. Large bright interior with a long bar, and several outdoor tables to sit and people watch. Several local beers on tap, and food is the standard pub food items such as burgers, sandwiches, wraps, and salads. Fast and friendly service. Paid street parking and several paid parking lots nearby.

We usually float between Backwoods and Deschutes Brewery, but Backwoods is pretty amazing. Great selection of beers, and the food options are awesome compared to other breweries. The nachos was huge, and could be a meal itself, and they have other healthy options like the wrap too!

Finally, good beer in Portland. Everywhere I’ve been the temps have been way too low on the cook so the beer is super dry and astringent, which I think is unpleasant. Here they’re not afraid to ruin a batch of beer and make real beer. Everything I tried was good, IPAs and a few stouts and a holiday beer, and the first exceptional beer I’ve had in quite some time—The Stumbler. Exceptional.

The best brewery in Portland. They are open later than the other breweries downtown and it's a quick walk to the soccer stadium to see the Timbers. The staff is sensational. Dan's the man on the beer side and Emily gives remarkable recommendations for food. A vast selection of beer options and the food is exceptional.

The flight was not cold, and the burger didn't taste right, but the turkey burnt ends sandwich and the tater tots were excellent especially the Cajun tots.

I’ve been here a few times and never disappointed. The staff is great. The beer is good and a nice selection of food. The happy hour wedge salad with chicken was a little pricey at $20 but I was very surprised at how good it was.

We had a great time here! Loved talking to the bartenders most of all; they were great. Got lots of great recommendations from them as we were just visiting the area. We also really enjoyed the beer, particularly the golden smore stout. Never had anything like it!

This venue offers a family friendly atmosphere and provides good service, food, and vibes. The beer is cold, fresh, and delicious. The cheese from the pretzel appetizer is off the hook. Brisket sandwich was better with the addition of bbq sauce. Friendly and timely services. Very reasonably priced.
