This is my first time trying Hot Pot and it was such a wonderful experience. The staff there made it a really good first place to go. They were really nice and patient with us, they showed us how to get started, make our own custom sauces, how to cook the food, and refilled us when we were low. The food was amazing, there was plenty of tables to choose from, the menu is not hard to look through at all, the place is really beautiful, and once you have it figured out it's smooth sailing!

Amazing AYCE hotpot restaurant! You can choose any broth you want and you can even have an option to have an individual or sharing hotpot. They are so friendly and nice and professional. Ingredients were fresh and I loved their numerous ingredient options for hotpot. It was so delicious and I want to go back next time when I visit Hartford again! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

If you never had Hot Pot before, I strongly recommend starting with this location. The options are incredible, the sauces are custom and self served. Honestly I could have this all day, every day and never be sick of it. While to cost per person is higher than some may like, the foods and tastes you will experience is well worth the price.

I’ve been here about 50 times and always tipped well. Tonight I brought a family member I hadn’t seen in a year and chose this place for our dinner. Our $130 bill which already most likely included gratuity as their dynamics have shifted… we still paid EXTRA in cash. Yet I was questioned about the amount I tipped and was essentially held hostage until I gave more. That was insulting. We even threw another $10 on the counter before walking out for probably the last time. Congratulations on losing your most loyal customers. Be thankful you even got anything cuz if I could go back you would’ve gotten $0

Favorite thing is the staff! Very happy and lovely, attended to us and checked on us regularly. Food was great as well.! Totally see why it is a favorite spot.

Good hotpot experience. There is a lot of variety, and I liked their Tom yum soup base. The dumplings were meh though, they were still cold in the middle. The chicken wings were surprisingly very good. The prices for individual hotpot items are a smidge on the higher side (nothing crazy but it does add up if you want variety) and with the new competition of all you can eat hotpot relatively close by I don’t know if I would come back here. There were some preset combos that do offer some variety that might be good for someone looking to try a bit of everything. The sauce bar had many options and was kept cleaned. I appreciate their QR/online order from the table because the wait staff was a bit busy.

My partner and I love coming here, especially now that they have an all you can eat option. I love the variety of items for the hot pot but also for sauces. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is very clean. Highly recommend.

This past Saturday was an incredibly memorable experience for me as I tried hot pot for the very first time at a restaurant. Accompanied by my friend, who happens to be a hot pot expert, we had a delightful time exploring various ingredients and flavors. One aspect that particularly stood out to me was the freedom to customize our own sauces or follow the sauce recipes available at the dedicated sauce station. To enhance our hot pot adventure, I decided to order two different flavors of broth, namely Chengdu hot and spicy as well as Tom Yum Kung soup. What impressed me even more was the option to get broth refills whenever we started running low. Additionally, the establishment had a well-stocked bar where we could indulge in refreshing lychee martinis and other delicious cocktails. Considering the premium quality of ingredients and the sheer joy of cooking our own dinners, I wholeheartedly recommend this place for a remarkable dining experience.

I had a great time and experience coming with my grandparents. I have only been to a hot pot once, which was china town in Boston, and I am tired of going to the same restaurants eating the same food all the time so I surprised them with hot pot. My grandmother was certainly outside of her element and I think she was pre-determined to not like it here. My grandfather was indefinite liking the concept of something new but also unsure what to get when opening the menu. I too was a little concerned when it came to choosing what broth to pick as most did not particularly interest me. I couldn't help but laugh while teaching my grandma how to use chopsticks. She got the hang of it but used silverware some of the time. Grandfather and I were proficient at it. I like the all you can eat concept. You can order a little at a time and continuously keep eating. Food was fresh and delicious. I picked a single pot of the herbal broth, my grandma had a single of the tomato and my grandfather did one of each in a two tray pot. I particularly liked how you could choose 1,2,3, or for broths and they all came in their own section. We stuck to mostly vegetables. Got lamb, flounder and meatballs for protein. Ramen and some other noodle (which I wasn't a fan of). I was very pleased with all of it and ordered a second tray of broccoli. If this is your first hot pot experience, just remember foods cook at different speeds. Meat should be quick and some of the vegetables take much longer. Also depends on the temperature of where you are cooking. Would and will be back as I had a very enjoyable time. I think my grandparents would too.

Decent hot pot, authentic to a fault Came here to try a different take on hot pot vs our standard locations. So we made the trek to try this place out. The staff was incredibly friendly and nice. Always made sure that we knew the ordering system and the dishes they offered. We scanned the qr code, put in our orders and made our way to the sauce bar. The location is very 1990s dining experience. It's dark with spotlights, doors opened to let a breeze come through, fruit flies darting around the sauce bar. It's a blast from the past and slightly grungy. The sauce bar had some hot items that were cold. Sesame balls and egg rolls that died some time ago. Sauces were covered and room temp, but again nothing too far gone. We order a selection of their dishes, they have a lot of traditional ingredients like fish balls, tripe, and heart. We stayed to the more common ingredients like beef and mushrooms and tofu just to be safe. The broths we get are perfectly seasoned, which is good cause we didn't want to go to the sauce bar again, The food was okay, we cooked it all ourselves using the hot pot to boil everything. The flavors were good, but there wasn't a good selection of ingredients to try for us, especially since you only get the option for all you can eat. Overall, it was a okay dining experience with very nice people trying their best to stay afloat. They haven't stopped caring, but it feels like they don't know what to do to fix their business model. They did offer premium options and those were the best bites we had. Perhaps a pivot to a more standard dining experience?

The food was good and so was the ambience of the restaurant. The service was okay. They barely came to check up on the table. When it came time to pay he stop me and my friends and said that was not a good enough tip.

This was such a fun experience. It was the first time I've done hot pot and the food was quite tasty. The ambiance is petty casual and so good for groups with really great service but the waitstaff. I would love to come back when I'm in town to visit my friend

I'm back to the best hot pot in the state. The restaurant is located at 310 Prospect Ave in Hartford, CT. To start, we're having a Stateside Lychee Martini made with Stateside Vodka, Bella Sprizz Elderflower Liqueur and fresh lychee. Grey Goose for us! It is served in a huge martini glass. It is well-chilled, nicely garnished well balanced and has a great lychee taste to it. This is definitely the best lychee martini I've ever had! For our appetizers, we are having the Han Hot and Spicy Chicken Wings and the Cucumber Salad. I love these chicken wings. They're small, but are absolutely yummy! Wow! Best chicken wings ever! The cucumber salad is real good too let me tell you. Those red peppers are bombs so watch out! Out comes a free appetizer - scallion pancakes. This is fried deliciousness! The soy sauce is nice and thick too. Next up? You make your own sauce. For my soup base I'm having the Two Flavor Classical Pot. First, half of it will be Chengdu Hot & Spicy made with bat leaves, fennel sauce, Szechuan peppers, chili peppers, Star aniseed, scallions and ginger. The other half White Creamy Taste made with evaporated milk, Goji berries, tomato slices, scallions and ginger. I like one half spicy; one half not. What a feast!!! For our next drink, we ate having the French Martini made with Tito's Homemade Vodka, Chambord and a splash of pineapple juice. This is good! For dessert, we are having vanilla ice cream (it's a tradition). Yummy! What a great meal here!

My daughter decided she wanted "hot pot" for her birthday, so we found this place in Hartford. There was a great selection of foods, both on the menu and on the appetizer buffet, so we all found something to eat...but it was challenging to figure out how to get started as total newbies to the experience. Maybe it was because they were so busy, but we really didn't get much attention and felt lost for most of the meal. Not sure I want to go back, but if you like hot pot and know what's up, then this place would be great for you.

This was my first visit here since they switched to an all you can eat menu, and I was so impressed! The ambiance is really calm and makes it really easy to have a conversation with the people you're there with, I loved the decor and the sauce bar was plentiful. The broth was absolutely incredible, I noticed real spices in it like star anise and bay leaves which was refreshing to see because some competing places will use a very basic soup base. The service was super fast, we put in an additional order for some meat and it arrived within 2 minutes.

This was my first time trying hot pot - i've always seen it but never knew a good spot - went here with some work friends and was dreaming about it by the time i crawled into bed! This is a great spot to go with a group - big or small. I liked that you were your own creative master with combos of proteins, veggies, broth and even sauces/spice level. I also really liked that they had a cook time menu so that you knew on or about how long to cook everything for. My go to protein is shrimp with rice cakes, enoki mushrooms and broccoli (super basic tik-tok i feel like) with the mushroom clear soup but it's so yummy!! It can get pricy depending what you put in it, but the portions are large and they're happy to wrap it to-go!

I was wary of a la carte hot pot locations just because the prices of items can quickly add up! But this place really changed my mind with their affordable individual $22 hot pot combo which includes your choice of 2 proteins and a HUGE vegetable platter. We had a large group of us and each decided to order one Sauce bar: included and well stocked Service: OUTSTANDING! Very attentive (Refilled our broths many times and helped celebrate a birthday) Food: Broths were pretty good. I got the first choice on the menu which was the spicy one (forgot the name), but I tried the Tom yum one and that was my favorite. Plenty of fresh vegetables and the meat quality (I chose beef and pork) was good! Also got a scallion pancake that was perfectly flakey and delicious. Will definitely come back!

So happy to have finally tried Han! My first hot pot experience and will not be the last. My sisters and I had absolutely no clue how to order or what to get. Luckily the staff at Han patiently explained how everything worked and even made suggestions. I wish I knew the man's name that helped us but he was so great to us! To start we got the chengdu dumplings. They were so flavorful- they were gone instantly! Totally will get these again! Among the three of us we shared the 2 flavor classic hotpot. My favorite soup based flavor was the chengdu hot and spicy soup! Packs a punch but it is so tasty! We got orders of beef, chicken and shrimp balls with this. We all agreed that the beef was the star of the show and we would just opt for that next time as the other items we ordered weren't nearly as good. Cool thing about hot pot is designing your own sauces. It was so fun to mix and match different flavors. One suggestion to Han is to monitor the sauce table as many children were causing unsanitary conditions for other patrons. We also ordered drinks. I loved their lychee martinis! Definitely get this! Dessert was a little odd. I wish they had some type of cake option. Overall it was definitely a fun experience and the staff were super helpful. Will be back!

Decent hotpot. But be aware that with tax and automatic gratuity for parties of 5 or more after tax it comes out to 42.50 per person. Was surprised that it applied to our party of 5 and was post tax..

My 2nd visit to this location and I can't say enough wonderful things about it. Such a great spot for a social gathering. Their sauce bar is so fun, the assortment of broths (I love the Japanese inspired options). The sliced beef is paper thin and so fresh. The baby bok Choy are tender and wonderful. They are patient and kind to children and I never once felt rushed. 10/10. Must visit.

A few weeks ago, I attended a large Hot Pot Dinner organized by a friend in Han's private back room. We had about 25 people split among 3 special hot pot tables. Hot Pot is a choose your own adventure dinner in which you select and prepare meats, seafood, veggies, etc. in hot broth at your specially equipped table. Hot Pot is a cool group activity, which actually provides a variety of experiences throughout the night. In the Arrival Phase, you're mixing with friends until everybody is there. Then everybody separates into tables and you're in the Decision Phase. Are you ordering a bunch of stuff and sharing? Are you ordering an individual meal? What broth or broths are you choosing? Our table ordered individually, but the table next door ordered family style. I ordered two broths which were served in a two compartment pot. Chengdu and "Pickle Jar" were my broths. Both were pretty good. My combo dinner included shrimp, steak, an egg, bok choy, carrots, mushrooms, other veggies, noodles etc. After ordering, you're in the Sauce Phase. There is a bar with sweet, sour and salty sauces such as Soy, Vinegars, Sesame, Hot, Hoisin, Chili Sauce, etc. and some solids such as fresh herbs. You mix these ingredients to create your own perfect combinations. The next phase is the Cooking Phase, when everybody starts heating their raw food in the boiling seasoned broth. For experienced Hot Potters, cooking may be old hat and you can carry on a normal conversation. As a newbie, I had to ask Experts for advice, plan and concentrate as I decided what to cook and for long. When you prepare your own food, the blame largely lies with you if things aren't perfect. For the things that Han controlled like broth flavor, ingredient presentation, quality and freshness, they did a good job. Although I'm not an experienced Hot Pot customer, I actually see a lot of pics and video clips of Hot Pot experiences because I follow myriad IG food bloggers who are well versed in World Cuisine and Hot Pot. Given that, I would rate the unprepared food and broth at 4 Stars out of 5. I enjoyed the food and the experience. Han has a cool atmosphere and I'm not aware of another good Hot Pot option in the greater Hartford area. Service was friendly. Like many places now, it seems like Han is short-staffed. Hot Pot is a great experience, and I would recommend Han as a good place for it. Four Stars

This is my first hot pot experience, I was thrilled. My dear friend Jen took the pain of organizing this wonderful event for us to enjoy and I can't thank her enough for it. A family style dining, around the holidays was so warm... the whole experience was very authentic I must say!! The process of cooking your food and mixing up your own sauce to create a dish to your liking.. was so fun. It puts you incharge.... If you don't like it... you know who's fault that was ?? Such a clever idea!! I know many people are going to shy away from the fact that you have to WORK to plate your own meal, but trust me it's worth it and you are in for a good time. I loved the interaction with food, friends/family ..it was such an engaging experience. The menu is extensive, you start by choosing from the 8 broths .. spice level, optional veggie broth etc. Once they place that in the heating bin in front of you, and broth boils then the fun begins. You can pick an array of proteins and fresh vegetables that swim/cook in the hot broth. Instructions and cooking times are given to you... before all of this you start at the dipping station, where you can put together your own combination of sauce, oils... that will enhance the flavor experience. I'm definitely coming back, bringing my family/friends for more experimentation.

It's been far too long since our last visit but this isn't a place you do takeout. It's fun hotpot. We got a private room in back for our big party with more food then we could eat. The mini hotpot combos give broth, two meats and a whole lotta veggies. It's a steal for all the food. I got a mini with two flavors. Go for the hot and spicy one. The tomato broth was also good. The spicy beef was perfect in the broth. Don't miss the apps. The dumplings at all of the Shu restaurants are amazing and these are no different. Loved them. And we got the spicy potatoes (which are fries) which weren't actually as spicy at the ones at Song. Service felt a bit understaffed but they came thru when we needed them. Pro tip: order noodles and then at the end of meal, add ramen noodles to soup, with some veggies and ask for a to go container. You then have lunch for next day!!

Hot pot on a cold evening. Yes please! I met up with some friends last night, for what happed to be my second experience with hot pot. And I thoroughly enjoyed it! The menu provides many options for broths, meats, noodles, veggies and other items. And there's a sauce station where you can create your own delicious concoction. I was very pleased with the quality and freshness of all the ingredients. I only wished they provided more seafood options for the seafood lover in me. Overall it was a fun and tasty evening. I would recommend giving Han a try!

We came here for the hot pot but they have other options. They have some rice dishes and appetizers. We tried the wonton dumplings but they are just okay, I wish the sauce was more spicy and less sweet. The hot pot soup was really good. The meats and noodles for the hot pot were tasty as well. I wish they had some tofu skin but they didn't have it. Service was great, chairs in the booth were a bit rocky though. Overall a good place.

The first time I tried hot pot was at hungry pot in Wethersfield. While that restaurant hits the spot I felt it was always lacking in depth of flavor. Not Han. Han has that amazing fresh Chinese (but the real) Chinese flavor my daughter and I search for while traveling and at home. The sauce bar is incredible and every bite I had was amazing when I mixed my garlic, chili oil and chiles together. Since we had the authentic hot pot, I don't think we'll be able to go back to the chain sadly. Han you ruined us forever with the best hot pot experience... but in the best way possible.

They have both individual and big pots for hotpot. Also really nice for larger groups since they have these private rooms with large round tables. We went with a group of 10 and all got individual pots. Was great! Service was fast and the self serve sauce bar is always fun.

Upping this to a five because everything in my past review rings true on how great Han is. I wanted to commend Han again. I recently got to experience the big room at Han holding up to 28 people. It was a great way to have a bigger occasion which for us was a bunch of foodies enjoying hotpot together and even some trying for the first time. The manager and staff even took the time to introduce and teach "hotpot 101" by request and shared ways to prevent cross contamination. We were able to get vegetarian, gluten free, and seafood free people able to try hotpot and not have an allergic reaction. As always food is great, staff is attentive even when overall service industry has been fully utilized. Han is amazing and I'll always recommend it! Until the next big group gathering

So fun! Our daughter told us we had to try hot pot - and we were glad we did!! We all got our ow individual broths (ranging from mushroom to spicy) and the assortment of veggies with a choice of two proteins. The gentleman working there was amazing - showed us how to cook the meat, took dad up to the sauces and made us his version of spicy and sweet and sour. They were both fantastic! Next time we would just order the things we liked but getting the combo the first time out was a good way to try a bunch of different things. We probably could have used some bibs as well! Excellent food and service - definitely come here and give hot pot a try!

It is SO hard to find GOOD hot pot in Connecticut so I am glad that a gem like Han Restaurant exist in Hartford! My family and I have been loyal patrons of Han, Song, and Shu so I'm amazed myself that I have not written a review yet! Han has an extensive menu of essential hot pot items from delicious fish balls stuffed with roe to fatty thin slices of lamb and TONS of different mushrooms you have probably never heard of before. The choices are endless and you can always order more! The manager and staff always takes care of their customers and ensures a responsive experience every time! They seat us quickly and in no time our food and broth comes out for us to enjoy! I'm a huge fan of the mushroom clear soup and the cream soup! When it comes to hot pot, I prefer for my sauce to be spicy more than my broth. Their sauce bar is always so clean. I appreciate the extra effort they put into maintaining it by wiping it down so frequently and keeping it stocked. My favorite items on the menu to order are the udon noodles, clams, mussels, baked fish cake, lamb, fatty beef, shrimp paste, and enoki mushrooms! I highly recommend ordering the combo if it's your first time. Each combo comes with protein options and a tray of assorted vegetables that include cabbage, bean sprouts, snow peas, corn, sweet potato, potato, an egg, tofu, broccoli, etc. The spicy chicken wings are also a MUST! They perfect the crunchy exterior of chicken wings with flavorful seasoning. Easily one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. I highly recommend Han Research! Don't be scared to try Han out! The manager is extremely kind and so are all the servers! They are willing to answer all questions and explain everything to you. Thank you Han for always taking care of us!!

So much fun. I had been wanting to try Hot Pot for a while and jumped when my Yelpie Friend Jen suggested an outing to Han. The owner Philip was so friendly and explained how everything worked. I decided to go with the split Hot Pot with two soups. I went with Chengdu hot and spicy soup & the Tomato based Sour Soup. And since it was my first time I went with the Combo which comes with a choice of two proteins a platter filled with a section of veggies and tofu. I also added an order of the fish tofu to add to my hot pot. So once you've put your order in you then head over to the Sauce Station where you can mix up your own personal dipping sauce from a plethora of ingredients. They do have 2 premade selections and some recipe cards on the wall if you're afraid to make up your own creation. Now back to the table to wait for your food to arrive. Once they put your soup onto the table turn the heating source on so it gets nice and bubbly and then start putting your veggies in to cook. I added the veggies that took longer to cook in immediately like potatoes and broccoli. And then I dipped the meat in and some of the other quick cooking items with my chopsticks. Once an item was cooked to my desired temperature I plucked it out and dipped it into my sauce. And then directly into my mouth it went. The Chengdu Broth was spicy and delicious.... perfect heat level for me with a little bit of a slap in the face and unlady like forehead perspiration but maybe not for others. Once dipped into my spicy dipping sauce a little rice was needed from time to time. The Tomato based Sour Soup I think was my favorite because it didn't compete with my spicy dipping sauce. I will definitely get that one again and maybe try another broth with it. One of my friends at the table did get a side of Chinese Sausage Fried rice and it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely suggest getting a plate of that to share. Also the more people the greater this experience is so definitely grab your friends if you plan on going. Also just putting it out there if you personally know me invite me along and I'll join you it was so good I can't wait to go back and maybe be more adventurous and do my side Al a carte.

Hot pot restaurant in Hartford where you can make your own hot pot right at your table! Each table has a multitude of hot plates on them, and you have the option to either split a hot-pot at the hot plate in the center of the table or to make your own hot pot at the hot plate in front of your seat. -If you opt to go for the shared center option, you can divide the hot pot into either 2,4, or 9 different broths to cook in! After making the broth/hot plate decision, you then choose what meats, veggies, and noodles you would like to cook in your hotpot Finally, you can also make your own dipping sauce to add to your meats/veggies/noodles for when you remove them from the hotpot I came here with my mom and my GF and we had a great time experimenting with different combinations of foods! Everything was very delicious, and, personally, I did not even need to use the dipping sauces because each of the hot pot broths were very flavorful. However, the spicy broths are way too spicy for me. we also tried their chicken fried rice and it was delicious as well!

First time trying this restaurant with a bunch of friends and it was such a fun time!! My table ordered an assortment of items and tried almost EVERYTHING! We all pretty much finished it all too. My favorite were all the different meat and fish balls. I loved cooking everything right in front of me, it was fun! I got the Cheng Du hot and spicy and Tom yum broth. Both delicious. I always love hot pot and the interactiveness of it. Service was great, and the restaurant looked nicely renovated inside.

First time eating here! Food was so good. Great ambience!! Must go back for a date night with my hubby!

Fun date night with my husband! He found this place on Google and picked it over a few other hot pot locations. It didn't have an "All You Can Eat" option, but we did well with the combo. We eat selected 2 broths and did the dinner combo (mixed meats and vegetables) Had to kick it off with a Shirley Temple and tea. He got the Chengdu Hot & Spicy and the White Creamy broth. I got the Mala pickled vegetable and Tom Yung Kung broth. We added a spicy marinaded beef and udon noodles ala carte. Dessert was a pre-packaged "gelato" type. Super disappointing dessert, don't get it. $6 for 1 tiny scoop of the saddest ice cream I ever had. But everything else was delicious. I loved the dipping sauce station, which allowed you to mix different sauces and ingredients to create different sauces. They included recipes for tried and true dipping sauces. Service was great! We had a lot of fun and will definitely be back.

My friend never had hot pot before so I had her try a few things. Excellent food, flavor, quality, service and overall experience. We were there for hours and treated like royalty every moment.

Worst service I have ever had there. They took 30 minutes to take our order and even longer to bring silverware. Did not refill our drinks and never brought us the bill. Worker even chased us out of the resturant for more money!!! DONT GO HERE!!!

There couldn't be a better night for Han Restaurant than a cold winter evening. Mini and traditional tabletop hot pots are their specialty and guaranteed to warm you up on the cold nights of December here in Connecticut. Spicy sauces, broth and protein choices all add to the fun. This was my first time here and it certainly will not be the last . We had Tony as our server and you could not ask for better explanations, assistance and personality. The whole concept is just so great and interactive. It makes for a super fun activity dinner with friends or family. I'm already thinking...who will be the next person I go with to Han? lol The Chengdu Dumplings and Scallion Pancakes are solid app choices. The soup was of course the main show. I tried the spicy broth and the pickled broth as both were so good! For meats, I had the beef, lamb and I also went with the tripe. I find tripe delicious, but it's not for everyone. It has a gummy bear like consistency to it and the broth cooks it perfectly with about eight dips. The sauce that Tony helped to concoct was spicy and delicious. I seriously will ask for Tony again the next time I go for the sauce he made for me. It was such a fun experience. Also- make sure to try the shaved ice- it's a perfect dessert to balance all the heat. Evaporated milk, red bean and tapioca all the way! So good!! Feeling extra thirsty? Try their signature Scorpion Bowl. I feel like everyone had one at their table when I was there! Don't miss out on Han this winter!

Some people think of hot pot as "just soup" but to me, it's all the vegetables I want to eat prepared and brought out to me with such speed that sometimes I wonder, why ever make soup at home? Hans is my favorite relatively local spot to get hot pot. The staff is always friendly and helpful when inquiries are made. We love bringing people unfamiliar with hot pot with us. We like that there are individual induction burners but there is a small room where you can do family style or have a large party (I think it's 8 or 10 for the table).

I have been to China multiple times and have eaten authentic hot pot a lot. Trust me when I tell you that Han's hot pot is mediocre, at best. Unfortunately, they are the only hot pot in the area, so we go there when we are tired and don't want to make it at home. We have eaten there at least a dozen times and until now the staff has always been very friendly to us. Anyone from the service industry knows that when you tip via credit card, the server may not be getting the tip or only partial, running through the credit card makes it easy for the management to take it. So I make a point of tipping cash. Last week, my wife, kids and I drove down (about 45 minutes from the house to Han) to have some hot pot. We were seated immediately, and we were looking through the menu to decide what sides we wanted. I'm not sure if he is the manager now or just the lead server, came over to my wife and showed her a receipt. He then showed it to me and asked if I signed it, it was the receipt from our last time there, it was my signature. He was upset that we did not leave a tip from our last time there and asked what was wrong with their service. Getting a little defensive, I reminded him that I left cash, he didn't seem to accept that answer, so I reminded him that tips are voluntary, not mandatory. He said, "we live off tips, if you don't tip I will not serve you anymore" and walked away from the table. This guy literally kept my receipt from our previous visit, put it in a file and waited for us to come back, so he could refuse to serve us. He wouldn't acknowledge any cash we left. After sitting there, embarrassed that he did that in front of the whole restaurant, I walked over to chat with him at the checkout register. I initially wanted to just leave, but my family was hungry, and we had already sat down, so I told him that I would make sure to add the tip to the credit card this time. He still didn't serve us, but had the new guy serve us, and we got some dirty looks while we ate. I went over and paid the bill and left a tip on the credit card receipt, he was acting like a child giving me silent treatment and just grunts for answers. I will now try to remind everyone that I recommended going there to stay away. To treat customers like that is very unprofessional, they get away with it because they are the only Sichuan hot pot restaurant in the area. This whole time I never read any of their reviews, I am shocked to see so many similar stories about TIPS.

Han restaurant was so good and a great experience. The staff was so nice and helpful. Even though I've had hot pot at other locations, this one was nice and authentic. We ordered the two mini flavor pots. I got the mushroom clear broth and hot and spicy soup. My boyfriend had the Chinese herbal and hot and spicy as well. It was very good and filling. They also have a great array of sauces to try, hearing recommendations for each meat and overall great customer service.

I'd have to say that it was an experience you need to try, different than most any restaurant that you've been to. But damn, those "sides" you purchase a la carte do add up fa$t! My bowl came to $39.

I love the food from all the restaurants from Phillip. Shu and Song are the other 2 restaurants from the same owner. Chengdu dumplings is a nice spicy appetizer. Scallion pancakes are really good as well. Han chicken wing is crispy. It is made fresh after ordering. So it will take 20 minutes. I generally go for the mini hot pot combo for the main course. Beef and lamb are my favorite protiens. MaLa Pickled vegetable broth is my favorite broth. It is spicy but not too spicy for me. I felt chengdu hot & spicy soup is a bit too spicy for me. There are many sauces in the sauce station, which you can pick up to add flavor to the food. If you are not sure how to do it, Phillip is very patient in explaining how it all works. There are a couple of pre mixed sauces as well. Peanut sesame soybean sauce is my favorite. I add chili oil, garlic, cilantro and scallion to this sauce.

My favorite restaurant in CT! The only one I keep coming back to! I love the hot pot style of making my own food and the sauce bar is 10/10. Service is fast and so friendly! Highly recommend!

This is my favorite place to take friends, especially if they've never had hot pot. I always describe it as "fun food." With the individual hot pots, each person picks a broth (or two), you share the meat, vegetables, noodles however you want--everyone satisfies personal sauce preferences at the condiment buffet. Full bar. Bubble tea (on weekends only). A few years ago I booked a private room behind the bar with a table for 10 people and hosted a small party--it worked out great!

I've been wanting to experience a hot pot dinner for a while, so I was excited to visit Han Restaurant recently. My group of 8 was seated in the private back room. After our server kindly explained the menu, my table was ready to order - we each picked our broth, protein, and any additional veggie or side. I chose to have a combo with the Wild Pepper Pickled Vegetable broth, chicken as my protein, and some udon noodles. While our food was being prepared, we went to make our dipping sauces. This process was trial and error for me - first and second sauces were terrible, but my third and fourth were good. When the food was ready for us to cook, the process was very simple, but the table was a little too cluttered. The amount of veggies that came with the combo was a LOT. I ended up taking boxes of them home to add to my compost pile. My broth was spicier than I wanted, but the overall flavor of everything was great. My reason for the 4 stars is because my table seemed to be forgotten about. We were never really checked on, and it took a really long time for our server to give us the bill and for us to pay. It was obvious that the restaurant was short-staffed. Overall, I think a hot pot experience is worth giving a try at least once.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. Please let me explain. Scam alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went there with my family. I really wish I didn't. First of all, while this place appear as Apple Pay friendly restaurant on Apple Maps, their machine didn't work. No it's not my phone or credit card because I've been using Apple Pay for years and this was my first time running into the issue. So no Apple Pay. Not a big deal. Just be aware. We called ahead to make sure they had a table for us. I honestly wish they told us they were busy when I asked them but nope. So we arrived, went in, full house. Surprised but things happen. We ordered our food. And we waited, waited and waited for our food for 45-50 minutes. For protein, we ordered spicy beef, beef, and lamb. And for whatever reason, the spicy beef came first. Without the soup. That was our first dish on the table. You can see in the first photo we have our appetizers(pork dumplings and sweet potato pastry) and untouched spicy beef. I don't even think it's safe to leave raw meat in the room temperature for that long. Especially marinated because we had to wait for another 30 minutes for our soup to arrive. And when we were almost done with hot pot, after another 30 minutes, our rice bowls came. You can see in the second photo how the rice bowls are left unfinished because we literally ran out of things to eat with. Oh and that's not the worst part! They have a sign that says they give 10% discount if you like their page on facebook. So I did and I showed it to them. They "honored" the discount but here's the catch, they forced me to pay 22% tips. Why? If that's not a scam, I don't know what is. Their service is the worst and they force ppl to pay tips? That's not honoring the discount. That's a fucking scam!!!!!!!!!! If you don't want to honor the discount then why do you even have the sign? this place is nothing but a scam. Oh and I hope you like flies cuz they are everywhere. Don't waste your money here. If you like getting scammed and overpay for food then this is the place for you!

This was a fun experience! The staff was wonderful, and very helpful! Being our first time here, we had a lot of questions, and our server was very accommodating! There were 4 of us, and we all got the double broth with 2 proteins and a huge platter of assorted veggies (each person had their own platter). So. Much. Food! We ended up taking 3 of the platters boxed and to go. There's a buffet table towards the back with every imaginable condiment you could want. I went with garlic, chili sauce, chili oil, and sesame oil. It was wonderful as my dipping sauce for the pork and shrimp I got. We will definitely be back. Good for larger parties - there's a semi separate area for 8 people. They also have a full bar. The menus have individual pictures of all the veggies they offer.

I came here with my cousins and we all got the combo mini pot. I stuck with one soup base but you can try out two soups for just a dollar or two more. I chose the Chengdu hot and spicy soup but was really let down when the soup was very mild (not spicy!) despite being filled with a lot of peppers! I think the combo is a great deal - you get a choice of two meats and a veggie plate with a good assortment. This will definitely get you full! Other a la carte items were around $5-$10. They have a great sauce bar that included everything that you would want/need. I appreciated the sauce suggestions as well because sometimes you don't know what to put in your sauce and it could be overwhelming. Overall, not a bad experience but I just wished the soups were a little bit more flavorful. What is hotpot if not for the soup!! I went with three other people and we all different soup bases and no one was particularly impressed by their soups.

This restaurant has a nice intimate interior with dim lighting, although maybe a bit too dim. When I walked in I wasn't sure if they were open. They serve hot pot as well as other Chinese dishes. They have combos and lunch special which seems like a good deal for mini hot pot. I had a large dual pot to share with Chinese herbal soup and the spicy mala pickled vegetable soup. They can adjust the spicy levels and make any of their soup stock vegetarian which is a plus. The flavor of the two soups I chose were lacking in flavor, but it might be due to the fact that I opted for the vegetarian version. Since each ingredient is a la cart it can get expensive quickly. The vegetables were fresh and the fish/shrimp were probably frozen but they were good. I liked the shrimp paste and the potato noodles. There is a sauce station where you can mix your own dip. They have different recipes posted. Service was a bit lacking. There aren't many hot pot restaurants in Connecticut, so there aren't many options for hot pot. It does the trick when you want hot pot, but the broth I chose lacked flavor. However, the non-vegetarian version might be better.

We came here for early dinner on weekdays around 5 pm to skip the crowd and the variety and quality were fantastic. The selection is not only wide, but it's extremely fresh- we feel that in terms of variety, quality, and value, this one wins. Since we went at a non-peak hour, we also received great service.

While hotpot options in the Hartford area are hard to come by, I don't feel like I'm missing a thing thanks to Han Restaurant being right down the street. Because of the mini hot pot option, I have been able to enjoy a delicious hot pot all by myself, as well as with a massive group of people who all want different things or have dietary restrictions. I also love that you can still get two soups in your mini pot, because who wants to have to pick just one! The sauce bar is well stocked, and their recommended pairings are helpful when I bring newbies along. The a La cart selection is varied but also offers platters of some categories so you can try an assortment of things, like tofu or mushrooms. Food items are always fresh and quickly prepared for us to start enjoying.

Everything is outstanding here. I have been here a number of times and can say this restaurant is consistently wonderful. I have had several kinds of proteins and most of the vegetables. Everything gas been nicely portioned and delicious. For those not familiar with hot pot, this is a tabletop cooking method where you order a broth and items to cook in the broth. You also make a dipping sauce at the self service condiment bar. For those lacking in creativity, they have some recipes and I have even seen them prepare sauces. Today, we chose Chinese herbal daily, a categorically non-spicy broth and the Tom Yum, a mildly spicy broth. You can order as a mini hot pot combo, which includes a platter of vegetables and two proteins, or order a la carte. I prefer the a la carte because the vegetable platter that comes with the combo does not include the bok choy, my favorite. It comes with Chinese lettuce, three kinda of mushrooms, sweet and white potato, snap peas, corn, broccoli, bean sprouts, cellophane. noodles, tofu cakes, and an egg. But I do live the bok choy. The combo has several protein choices including beef, pork, lamb, shrimp, flounder, beef tripe and chicken. Outside of the combo are all you favorites like pig intestine and aorta. Also there are fish cakes, meat and fish balls squid, and many more. I loves the fish cakes. Service is attentive and extremely finished. Staff is helpful. Food is delicious. Atmosphere is pleasant. I do like this place. A lot. Highly recommended.

Feelin' hot, hot hot! If you've never tried hotpot before, definitely try it this winter. It's the perfect hot meal on a cold night. I love any kind of communal meal experience or food performance and hot pot meets both pleasures. Hot pot starts with a base soup (I chose mushroom because I prefer something without heat. My friend ordered the Chengdu and sweated through the meal. He loved the spiciness!). Then you order the items you will cook in your pot which has a heating element to boil your base broth. Han Reataurant in Hartford offers a Combo for their mini (individual) hot pot that gives you a choice of 2 proteins and an array of veggies that includes 2 types of mushrooms, cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts and glass noodles. Han has complimentary dipping sauces that you use to flavor your food. A group of 8 of us (2 families) went and the food was all part of the conversation. The kids loved it! You can enjoy the flavored soup after you are done cooking! The staff was helpful, frequently available to replenish waters and add more broth to your pot as needed. For dessert, we treated ourselves to shaved ice with sweet add-ins like tapioca and red beans. It is like Filipino halo-halo because the entire dish is served with sweetened condensed milk. It was a light and cold ending to a delicious meal!

Fun and delicious experience! First time at a hot pot type of restaurant. We had a lot of questions and our server was amazing. He was very patient and explained everything and made suggestions. We ordered the combo mini hotpot with a side of udon and another mini pot o we each had our own broth. The vegetable platter was definitely big enough. All together we had chicken, beef and shrimp. I understand why the chicken and beef are prepared the way they are, however, I did not like the beef. My husband thought it was very good so at least it wasn't wasted. We would absolutely go back. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful even though the restaurant was sooo busy. Definitely make a reservation.
