"This far-from-sterile space might even be described as dramatic, given its arched wood panels, dark charcoal tiles, soft pendant lights, and backlit wall of wine. A ladder running across completes the effect.  Locally sourced produce, meat from regenerative ranches and responsibly caught seafood are the foundation of the impressive, hyper-seasonal cuisine produced here. Menus dance to the seasons, unveiling such passionate and ingenious dishes as a spring garlic velouté with Livermore olive oil, and half a head of za'atar-roasted romanesco with green tahini and pine nuts. An Irish take on coffee and donuts is executed perfectly and will leave you wanting for more." - Michelin Inspector

Excellent food and great place in the middle of Pleasanton. We ordered the chips with the dip, which was great (especially the dip). My wife ordered the spiked lassi, which initially was too cardamomy, but our host at the restaurant made one more with more citrus, which according to my wife was delicious. I got traditional gin and tonic, which was excellent. For entree, our kid got the butter pasta, which was buttery and our kid cleaned his plate without any trouble. I got the lamb risotto, which was exceptional, after a long time I had such a well made risotto. My wife got the pumpkin ravioli, which was creamy and buttery and comes with pomegranate seeds, which gives a nice crunch. For desert, we go the doughnuts, which was surprisingly the best dish that we tried. Freshly made doughnuts, with saucy apple in the middle, along with whipped cream. Altogether, amazing place and highly recommended for family dinner.

Both the tomato salad & caramelized cauliflower were delicious and flavourful. The salmon and pasta were good too. Cheese cake was yummy.

Absolutely LOVED the service. Went there for an anniversary, and every employee i ran into wished us congrats. They had a sweet postcard on the table, wishing us a happy anniversary, just great service. The appetizers were to die for. My risotto was perfectly cooked, only dish i think was a little different from what I expected was the fish. The protein was amazing and the broth delicious, but the mushrooms were not my favorite. Everything else was heavenly. The dessert we had was the mint chocolate tart. OMG the best dessert I've had in a VERY long time. 5 starts

My husband and I wanted to try something different but have a course sit down for our 15 year anniversary. When searching Sabio popped up, so I scheduled reservations. I followed up with an email just to let them know what we were celebrating. To my surprise I was emailed back right away, and was given a few options on extras to celebrate. Today 7/29 was our reservations, and we were not disappointed. The good was exceptional in the 5 course. My husband whom does not care for duck loved it. I cannot even decide what was the best as all of it was scrumptious. We love the decor and the setting of the dinning room. From the hostess, to our server Ruben, and the support staff we had the best service we have ever had. Me being a manager of customer service I cannot express what it is like to receive exceptional service. Thank you to all the staff at Sabio.

Originality, Presentation, Taste all included in the menu. High end class at reasonable prices. The Quality of food is superb. Worth a visit. The Bar has a wide selection including non-alcoholic drinks. If it's not in the menu, they are always willing to accommodate your request.

What an awesome experience!!! Had my birthday dinner and would highly recommend it! They even had a card wishing me a happy bday. Our server Ruben was fantastic and attentive but not overly there, he knew exactly when to come. We had the 5 course meal each and I have to say that there was more food than we expected. We truly loved 4 courses, starter🫠, appetizer🥰, entree🤩🤩 and dessert🤤🤤. The pasta dish left us confused since the flavor profile was there but the texture was not appealing. We also received a surprise strawberry gazpacho and just wow 🤤🤤. The photos do not give it justice.

We celebrated our friend's birthday, everyone went with 5 course. Weekend we went their menu changed to Cosmo, it was perfect, it was to everyone's liking, plus we all got to share each other's course choice. Prepare yourself for exquisite menu, my suggestion would be have lite lunch, it's a lot of food for 5 course meal. Have patience since dishes are spaced out, so you dont get overwhelmed and get to taste all the wonderful dishes. We were there for close to 2hrs, I had a great experience overall. Butternut Rugosa soup was my absolute favorite, buttery nutty and comforting. I really liked Sabio, definitely will go back for special occasion. Staff were very much involved with the presentation of each dish.

Google
Sabio on Main provides three course and five course prix fixe meals, and I was craving a nice night out. My husband had the peaches and cream donuts with almond sugar, stewed peaches, and peach pit bavarois, which I had one bite of that was enough to declare it possibly the best of the dishes of the evening. But they were all quite good. We both had the roasted chicken breast with apricot molasses glaze, grits, collards, and watermelon rind relish for our main courses. Those were some hefty chicken breasts! Closer to half chickens really. The relish reminded me of southern chow chow, and left a similar impression of forgettable flavor, which really, how much flavor do we expect from watermelon rind? Loved the crispiness of the chicken skin and the collards were perfectly done for my taste. My chef's gin and tonic was refreshing with St. George Botanivore, cucumber, lime, juniper, and lemon twist. The Green Bee Farm tomato salad was delicious, especially the gorgonzola crema and the flecks of black pepper from the walnuts in combination with the pluots. Finally, my own dessert: the Vahlrona chocolate flan with toasted marshmallow meringue and graham crackle streusel. This is one of the few s'mores desserts that really got the concept right with the toastiness of that meringue and the bold chocolate flavor.

Yelp
Had their tasting menu. It came with 3 seasonal canapés (1 per person). The pork belly canapé might've been my my favorite part of the entire meal. My least favorite was probably the salad. It had bits of bitterness to it which I don't care for but my friend really liked it! Upgraded to the wagyu instead of the prime rib and although it was tasty, my friend said the prime rib was actually more tender so maybe pass on the upgrade? I didn't try her prime rib since I was stuffed. I liked the persimmon apple crumble although I couldn't really taste the persimmon. Their tea selection was a bit skimpy at the end of the night and didn't have any herbal teas. They found some chamomile in the back. Service was great for our party of 9. Ambiance is great for date night. Not too loud so you can actually have a conversation.

Christine L.

Yelp
We enjoyed our meal here, but didn't think it was entirely worth the price. However, the ambiance was quite nice and classier than your typical downtown Pleasanton establishment. The pork belly was probably my favorite dish out of the bunch, and the saffron risotto. The pork chop however was not as flavorful as I'd hoped, and for $41 it didn't feel super worthwhile. Also, we had a conversation with a very confident server recommending us wines that all rieslings were sweet, which is decidedly untrue. He was very earnest and friendly, but I definitely lost a bit of trust in the wine recommendation process.

Yelp
Bonjour, hi! Stopped by to try weekend brunch right at opening. Was seated quickly and welcomed warmly. The server was very attentive to us and had a positive attitude, which was refreshing. For the menu, it was autumn. Everything on it looked amazing. Drinks were more expensive than the meals, which was very unfortunate so we only had two. The food, masterfully curated created. Their pork belly is done right. They have a tasting menu which I didn't care for, because of simplicity (seemed like they wanted to offer something at value but not what people actually wanted to have from the menu), but loved that they offered nonetheless. The restaurant is beautiful as well. It was a hot day so I'm glad they didn't skimp on sharing the AC. Will be returning! Likely after a pay day though...

Yelp
Wow! Where to start?? Our server Richard was the best, he took great care of us. We came here for happy hour to celebrate my husband's birthday but opted to go all out and get the Chef's Tasting Menu and the Vegetarian Menu... The sangrias were refreshing on a super hot day, the Raz and Rye was good, we enjoyed the Pom-arita it wasn't too sweet- just right, but the Aztec Smoked Cider was our favorite cocktail. HH oysters were great as usual. The Seasonal Canapes were lovely appetizers. My husband loved his chefs tasting menu but said he'd order my vegetarian menu any day, the eggplant ravioli was SO RICH AND DELICIOUS! But the green Thai curry was the best Thai curry I've ever had, and I've had a lot. The dessert was fantastic, I was so full but I devoured it haha. I don't recommend getting appetizers before your tasting menu unless you want leftovers- but boy was I happy to have leftovers the next day haha! 20% gratuity is added to the bill if you get a tasting menu but the staff deserved more, so we left additional tip for the wonderful service. Arriving with happy hour expectations and leaving with a 5 star full on dining experience was a fun deviation. My husband was super happy with his bday dinner and our spontaneous tasting choice.

Yelp
Gem of a restaurant that stands out from the rest with its energy and effort on the delectable seasonal menu. The bar is also the real deal. Every cocktail is thoughtfully crafted with fresh ingredients. I am glad to have found it through Michelin guide. The chef's tasting menu shines with flavor, aroma and creativity. It far exceeded our expectations! It is great to know we don't need to drive 1 hour for real fine dining.

Yelp
Clean establishment, Good service, atmosphere, ambience, +++ The staff were very friendly and attentive Eleana who came to check on our table as well as the chef owner Francis who even came out to introduce himself and welcome all the guests Now for what I'm sure you really want to know about. "The Food" was great. Not too many places in Pleasanton serve food with actual flavor and this place delivered on that. I mean everything tasted as it was made from scratch and at the end you must try the donuts with the jam or jelly spread and you will know you are actually living Check out my pic's

Yelp
Food was solid, Waiter spilled a drink on me while wearing a sport coat and barely apologized / didn't offer any concessions because of it. Poor waiting experience.

Yelp
I had an anniversary dinner here last October (2022); we tried the 10-course tasting menu and were so full by the end! It was really great. The staff had our table ready when we arrived for the reservation and they left us a card wishing us a happy anniversary. The bartender made a tasty mocktail for me with fruit (just as I had requested), and all 10 courses were good. You can see the menu items listed in the pictures. Here are some of the top highlights: Quail egg and chili crisp!- I have not been serve crispy chili oil in a restaurant before, and that was really fun and it added to the appetizer. Also little tiny fried quail eggs are just so cute, I love them. The oxtail empanada - it was very flavorful and not dry Tortelli - the sage brown butter on this, combined with some texture from the pepitas and white pomegranate. heavenly!

A L.

Yelp
First, the staff were friendly and efficient. Appreciated that the corkage fee for TriValley wines was $15, very supportive gesture for the local wineries. Nicely decorated dining room. Food- big disappointment. Wagyu sliders w quail egg appetizer now taste like the beef patty came from a grocery store. The patty was tasteless & the texture was very compact, over-processed, & odd. The entrees were all over salted.

Sonia T.

Yelp
The food was absolutely amazing. We had the chef's tasting dinner and it was so good. It was course by course amazingness.

Yelp
Service was AMAZING!! Hunter was attentive and friendly. He even overheard our convo about my SIL's birthday and brought her over a little hand written card from the Sabio Team - so thoughtful! Food was a huge disappointment, hence the 3 star. We are usually easy to please, we love just about anything and rarely ever have anything negative to say about a dish. Everything sounded amazing at Sabio so we ordered a bunch of starters and just one entree, everything (literally everything) they brought out was beyond salty! Not sure what happened today as I have been to Sabio before and the food was always on point. We were full and brought home some of the left overs and even my brothers said everything was salty. The chips and Patatas had very similar taste: spicy and salty. The pork belly toast was our favorite but would have been better if they just scaled back on ghee salt on a bit. It seemed like all the starters we ordered used two main ingredients- cayenne and salt. The drinks... let's talk about those! Our bar tender was awesome! The Lychee Martini was definitely different than the ones I have tried, it almost tasted like juice, I Personally wouldn't have called it a Lychee Martini but it was definitely good and sneaker! The espresso martini was also really good! Both drinks were strong and welcomed :)

Yelp
Bf took me here for my birthday. Was a little bummed the server failed to ask if we were celebrating anything until we were getting ready to leave... We ordered full courses with dessert so it would have been nicer if they tried to make it more special. Still, I was really impressed because I tasted the most tender mussels I've ever had in my life here. So I guess they know what they're doing when it comes to food. Usually mussels get tough and rubbery so this was such a nice surprise. My blackened cod was also very tender and tasty. The flavor profile tasted like a Chinese saytay sauce that actually changed by the last few bites. I also ordered a cocktail that was rly good. All of the dishes were super good and unique. Definitely a standout dining experience.

Yelp
I made a reservation ahead of time. If you want to switch your dinner to a prix fixe menu, you have the option to do so there. The menu will change, especially the prix frixe one, so make sure to call in or check online for updated menus. They offer wine pairings at an extra charge. A 5 course menu was 79$z Overall the food was good. The soup was amazing and so was the lamb. Some foods were good, some werent amazing, but overall not bad. Service was a little slow at times, theres a lot of down time between dishes. The benefit here is that it gives you some time to digest and let your stomach tell your brain that its full lol. Parking in downtown pleasanton can be tricky at times. This is a nice restaurant located on a corner, there is some street parking if you turn off of main and drive a little

Natasha K.

Yelp
We came for our anniversary dinner. We did the $80 5 course menu. We like that there were at least two or more options for each course so that husband and I could each try something different. The service and ambiance were nice. The food was mediocre. Everything was decent or pretty good, but nothing blew our socks off. I did really like the peaches and cream donuts as the donuts came out soft, fresh, and warm. My pork belly was also well crisped on the outside and juicy on the inside. I'm curious about the chefs choice 10 course tasting menu (approximately $130 per person) but apparently that needs to be booked 2 days in advance for some reason. If we do ever come back, it'll be for that.

Jason G.

Yelp
After six years living in Pleasanton, I finally got to Sabio. I should have come sooner. A wine dinner brought me here, but the dishes were tailored specifically to the wine and were in line with the regular menu (prix fixe) of the restaurant as well as pricing. All of the food was outstanding. The fennel sausage was to die for. But the real star, and I'm not a dessert guy, was the dessert. Granted the wine pairing helped it to be nearly orgasmic, but the skill of the chef to put this together with the wine was just amazing.

Xinhan T.

Yelp
Food is ok, but not worth the price to pay $95 for 4 dishes. The service and the manager are so condescending. We ordered 4 dishes, and we waited 20 minutes for the dessert. When we complained the waiting time to the manager. She's like " how long do you think can be considered as a long waiting time?", "the duration doesn't exceed 2 hours, so I don't think it's too long." Well, then we know their expectations is everyone to finish 4 courses in 2 hours. Although it took almost 15 minutes for them to serve the main course and another 20 minutes for the dessert, it took them about 1 minute to take my credit and charge 20% service fee (by default). When we left the restaurant, their only two tables left. Even by then, they refused to admit the delay.

Michelle Z.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour and their $1.50 fresh oysters! Limited 12 oysters per person. Happy hour is Monday to Friday from 4 pm to 6 pm. The restaurant is small so you should either come early or make reservations. We ordered the raw oysters, furikake fries, lamb empanadas and beef sliders to share. Raw oysters were super fresh! We ordered a dozen to start and ended up ordering another 6 because they were that good. The fries were crispy but I wasn't a huge fan of the furikake seasoning; I should of ordered the crispy panisse frites (with Parmesan and garlic aioli) instead. Beef sliders were delicious and the tiny quail egg was so cute! I never thought the balsamic onions and the peppercorn spread paired so well together. Lamb empanadas were good but it wasn't my favorite. Worth a try though ! Our server was attentive and friendly! Will definitely return to try out their pre-fixe menus.

Jenn D.

Yelp
It's a bit dark, gives more of a romantic vibe. The service is great, our waiter was able to describe our dishes in detail and make some top tier drink recommendations. The food itself was great. We ordered the Cauliflower starter, I ate it so quick we couldn't even take a picture. That was probably my favorite things of the night, highly recommend!! The steak was a tad bit chewy, but i did order it medium rare. The chicken with mole sauce was super yummy, the taste caught me by surprise. The donuts were fluffy and that lemon curd sauce for it was soooo good! Definitely a great dinner spot for a nice night out.

D.S. L.

Yelp
Ezekiel, our server was great! He made our birthday celebration for our brother, special. Presentation of food was lovely. The booths were spacious with high backs for conversation and comfortable for 2 couples. Portions are small to average. We had no morsels left over after 5 appetizers, 4 meals and 3 desserts and drinks for more than $400. Steak was over peppered but cooked as desired and tender. We made reservations for 4 and our table was ready on time.

Chia C.

Yelp
Came with a party of 15 to celebrate our office Xmas party. The restaurant is on the smaller scale but very lovely inside. Outdoor seating is also an option. Service was excellent. Our server, Mark, did a wonderful job explaining/introducing each dish on the menu. He also told us that the menu changes about every 6 weeks/9 times a year. Every single dish was absolutely delightful. I was particularly impressed with our entrees: venison loin and duck breast. The meats were so tender and flavorful, it practically melted in the mouth.

Kevin T.

Yelp
We booked and prepaid Sabio for their Thanksgiving dinner and it was a lovely low-key affair. A cozy interior and lighting made for a very comfortable dining experience and I can see the place being a nice date-night spot. Although they were a little short-handed on the front of the house (it was Thanksgiving after all) we had things come out at a reasonable pacing and a great meal at the end of the day. Props to the Chef for having the best turkey I've had yet! Things were pretty smooth and only slowed down a smidge midway when numbers picked up. We were down to dessert by then so it wasn't too much of a disruption, but settling the check for our added on drink took longer than anticipated. ==Bread & Butter Solid dinner rolls with seasoned whipped butter that weren't mentioned on the menu, but a nice accompaniment to meal. Hard to say no to properly warm and soft carbs with airy butter. No complaints here! ==Butternut Rugosa Soup - 5/5 A little careless in the presentation for fine dining (you can see what I mean in the photo), but rather tasty and I was fond of the layers of creaminess to the soup and the contrasting flavors packed in the center. ==Harvest Salad - 5/5 There's something to be said of a cleanly done platter of fresh greens. I particularly liked the mix of persimmons and pomegranates, which isn't a combination you see too often. Flavors were subtle yet complex, which is how I'd prefer them to be honest. == Turkey Dinner - 5/5 Turkey is such a hard meat to get right so I'm a have to declare this place gets it done the best I've had thus far (even between both white and dark meats) without much of a dry spot. Didn't have to rely on very much gravy for it to be nice and moist, but also not ridonculously brined to the high heavens. The platter was generally stacked with mounds of sides so we only got close to finishing the whole thing. Sweet taters were done very nicely and the sausage stuffing with bursting with salty umami. Still forever pointing out the cranberry sauce is served on the side cause nobody really knows what to do with it. :P ==Short Ribs - 4/5 Tender, but let down on the moisture as they were somewhat dry on the insides. Still it was an overall a very creamy combination and the ribs got plenty of support with the creamy and flavorful polenta. ==Chocolate Bonet - 5/5 We weren't sure what to expect, but this was surprisingly good with a fantastically deep caramel flavor that blended well with the chocolate. Texture-wise it's like a mousse from top to bottom, with it slightly thicker once you hit the chocolate. Constrasts nicely when you sprinkle in the crumbles around the plate. Definitely would seek this one out again. ==Hand Pies - 5/5 Very different dessert compared to the bonet, but I was quite fond of these guys. Reminiscent of a cozy empanada, but filled bursting to the brim with pumpkin and apple pie fillings. The gelato was oozing vanilla and complemented bites of each pie well. The pies do stand by themselves though, with crispy exterior and flaky goodness as you bite through.

Yelp
I would give zero stars if was an available option. We had reservations for 4 for dinner on Saturday night. Just be sure that it was ok I called Sabio's and asked if it was OK to bring my own bottle of wine. I was told yes and that there was a $25 corkage charge. That seemed reasonable to me for the corkage charge. When we arrived at the restaurant at 5:02 for a 5:00 reservation the 1st thing that we were told was that we were late. When we looked around the restaurant there was only one other table that was occupied. When the bottle of wine was set on the table the waiter told us that because they sold the same wine that they could not open it with a corkage charge but I would have to pay there overstated price. I said to him that I was not ok with that and he came back with if we bought a bottle of their wine that they would open my wine for the $25 charge. I said that we only wanted one bottle of wine with dinner so could they just double or triple the corkage fee. He said no that it was against their policy. We picked up our stuff and went to another restaurant down the street and had a wonderful dinner including my wine. I now understand why the restaurant was empty and would not recommend it.

Yelp
We called last night to reserve a table for dinner. The host was welcoming6We were seated in a private area that felt intimate and the perfect setting for our group. Our server was friendly, accommodating, and very attentive. I started with a cocktail called a tenacious bee, it had bourbon, honey, and a number of other ingredients that resulted in a delicious way to start off my meal. The menu offered so many tempting options, that we all agreed to share plates. My friends really loved the sardines, I didn't try them. I found the other plates that we ordered to be absolutely exquisite! I am in no way exaggerating, the truffle grilled cheese is so satisfying, the brussels sprouts are coated in a savory sauce and crisped to perfection, the empanadas were incredibly fresh. spicy, and wrapped in a delicious dough. We had the donuts for dessert and I wanted to just devour mine! Sweet, warm, indulgent, and beyond exquisite. The mousse had mouth watering chocolate and a whipped pumpkin topping. (I honestly don't know if it was called a mousse on the menu- but I DO know that it was one of the best desserts I've had in quite some time. Sabio has the lighting and atmosphere to set the mood, the service to make the meal a pleasurable experience, beverages to appeal to everyone's taste, and sweet, savory, rich and delectable options. I would give more than 5 stars if I could, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Rob W.

Yelp
This is the best food in Pleasanton. I appreciate that the menu is updated regularly with seasonal ingredients, and that they feature ingredients from the farmers market down the street. Also, they have a great bar and excellent wine list.

Usha A.

Yelp
My friend invited me to this place to celebrate my birthday. I was amazed with the service, as I was seated at the booth upon my request. The server was really kind and friendly. He brought water, and throughout he served water making sure our glass was not empty. He explained the menu to me as an Alacat menu or a three course meal. We decided to go for three courses and ordered cocktails. It was a delicious experience. The food was great we enjoyed every meal, drink, and desserts. At the end it was not like the usual dessert with a candle, instead they gave me a birthday card with wishes to me from their staff. I felt that was a very thoughtful gesture. I would really bring my family and friends to this place again to celebrate special occasions. It has classy interiors and the ambience is cozy and romantic.

Patty G.

Yelp
If I could give ZERO stars, I would. We were visiting this restaurant for the first time. Our friends brought a very expensive bottle of wine. Joseph Phelps Insignia Napa Valley Estate Grown Red Wine 2019. Before we even sat down the server informed us that since they sell that wine they would have to charge us the price of the wine as if we bought it from them. This policy is stated nowhere on their website site. In this case, their corkage fee would have been $590! The server went to the manager and their resolve to this was if we bought their bottle of wine at that price they would waive the corkage of our bottle. We didn't want two bottles of wine. So we left. And we will never be back. UPDATE: the owner responded on Google claiming that we were told we could buy any bottle of wine on their menu to have the corkage waived on the expensive bottle we brought in. That simply was not the case. We were told we would have to buy the same bottle from them and they would waive the corkage on the bottle we brought in.

Yelp
I went about a month ago in a party of 4, and we had the multi course tasting menu. Having just gone to Abaca over this past weekend and had a sampling of their menu items, I'm doing what I've been meaning to do. PSA: it's startling that over 7-10 courses, Sabio never surpassed mediocrity in execution, flavor, seasoning, creativity, and everything else I associate with a $120 a person meal. Abaca, on the other hand bullseyed everything. Aside from preserving the authenticity of serving tongue that was not disguised at all, it and everything else was surprisingly good...surprising because Sabio diluted expectations. Thick, unevenly cooked, partly crunchy ravioli was among the courses. Bottom line: Cross the bay, sit in traffic, skip Sabio, and go to Abaca.

Yelp
Everything I want for date night dinner! I've walked by Sabio on Main for years and always thought it looked awesome- tall ceilings, beautiful fixtures, floor to ceiling windows that allow you to fully admire the two story bar with recessed lighting within... But I didn't know how unbelievable their food was until last night! We started with a mix of snacks: caramelized cauliflower, roasted brussel sprouts with furikake, and patatas bravas. The flavors were on point and all contrasted/complimented each other beautifully. For the main, we split the burger (medium rare) which came with all the bells and whistles. Their burger towers above the plate, stacked with boursin cheese, a thick slice of pork belly, an egg, greens, house made pickles and straight up witchcraft! I typically go for simple burgers (just meat, cheese and bun) to gauge the quality of the meat, but theirs was a playful explosion of flavors that was a nice deviation from my norm. The burger was accompanied by a side of french onion fries- essentially, fresh cut fries loaded with french onion soup toppings. The fries were good, but I would get them without the topping (or have the topping on the side) next time, because it made the otherwise brilliant fries, soggy. To top it all off, the service was the best I've had since the pandemic. Staffing shortages are everywhere, but at Sabio on Main, they take care of each other- the bar tender came out from behind the bar to take out drink order, the general manager seated us because the wait staff was swamped, our server was playful and made sure she was available for any questions or suggestions. Thanks for the epic date night - we will 100% be coming back!

Yelp
Very delicious dinner but was disappointed with a couple things. Our waiter gave us lengthy instructions at one end of the 10 person long table. I asked him to come down to our side to give the instructions, but he didn't repeat them even when I told him 2 in our party have hearing aides and couldn't hear him. . I ended up telling them everything he said. He said we had to order starters and entrees at the same time so the kitchen could time the meal. Really? We ordered so many starters - 3 potato chips, 3 fries, 24 oysters, 2 beef tartare, 4 different salads, 2 octopus, 2 pasta, and 4 soups to start for our party of 10. Beef tartare and octopus were the best starters. Dinner was good - we had halibut, flat iron steak and pork Milanese and gnocchi. Every entree was good, but the Milanese was a little too salty. To end, we brought a special birthday cake for Grammys 90th. Our waiter Ezekiel told us they had to charge us to plate the cake unless we ordered 5 desserts. Really 22 starters and 10 dinners, wine and champagne and 25% gratuity weren't enough to warrant a free fork and plate? We were admiring the lighting - but I looked up at the exquisite carved wood above the table and saw lots of dust around the edges - seriously a little gross thinking a good breeze could land that in my food. I love the food, but hate being nickel and dimed. The dust freaked me out a little. Unsure whether I'd return.

Yelp
The food was good, but for the prices, I was expecting much better service. We didn't have one dedicated server, but instead, any one of the servers walking around the restaurant would come to our table once one of them noticed us looking around for someone to take our order. I think it took almost 15 minutes for someone to come to our table after we sat down. I'm not sure why this restaurant doesn't assign a single dedicated server for each table... the result was service that felt uncoordinated and frustrating.

Yelp
Had an amazing birthday dinner here. Food was superb. Tried a total of seven different dishes (4 appetizers, 1 main, 2 desserts), and they all exceeded my expectations. I'll mention the two most notable dishes: gnocchi, exceptionally light and prepared with lamb sausage and fresh peas, and pork belly, served with peaches and perfectly tender without being fatty. The service was fantastic. Attentive, gracious, and fun. The decor was lovely too. The only concern was that the place was nearly empty. PEOPLE - YOU SHOULD GO HERE!! This is a hidden gem in the tri-Valley. The prices may seem slightly high for the area, but the food is clearly being made fresh with highest-quality ingredients that more than justify the prices. I'll be back! (Apologies for my negative review in 2015. Clearly things are much better now, and I am delighted to update it to 5 stars!)

Yelp
I came to Sabio's last month to celebrate a friend's birthday. As a group, we had booked a semi-private event for this occasion. I'd like to preface this review by saying that I have been in the food service industry for over a decade-- I've been a server at casual places like Applebee's as well as fine dining restaurants and steakhouses. I have also been a manager, so I understand this industry very, very well. Their food is good. From the items I tried during this visit, I'd say their roasted cauliflower dish was the best thing I've ever had. Unfortunately, the other items I tried were nothing special. One item I had was a pork belly breakfast burger, meaning it included a sunny side egg. As a personal preference, I find it easier to clean up myself with a paper napkin when eating "messy" food items like this. I do not want a greasy cloth napkin touching my face after I had used it to clean my hands off of egg yolk and burger grease. I asked our server, who already had a snappy attitude towards our group, if I could get some paper napkins. His response was "oh, we don't have paper napkins." Had he stopped there, I would've said "okay, understandable, no worries at all!" However, he immediately followed up with a condescending "this isn't that kind of place." I was taken aback and my partner definitely took offense. He did provide me with extra cloth napkins, which I did appreciate. The manager also did reach out to our group after the fact to apologize about the incident and to mention that they have since stocked up on paper napkins in case other patrons need it in the future. While that is commendable and appreciated, I hope that herself and her staff go through some extra training in hospitality. I've noticed that my experience is pretty consistent with others' experience, as I can see from the yelp reviews here. So many other patrons have complained about service at Sabio's and I'm really hoping management takes a look at these reviews and train their staff better. Just because you're a "fancy" restaurant does not mean you get to look down on your patrons. They're seated in your dining table for a reason, so I don't get the attitude at all.

Yelp
The food was mid and not portioned well . We got happy hour apps and the were very plane we got a cheese board and bologna water sliders and fries. Clearly the fries were the best part. We ordered happy hour drinks we tried to order another 7-5 mins before happy was over and there waiter who was kinda flirting with me in a smart a$* kinda of was which was very not demur said we can't do that since we didn't finish our first drinks but I'll do it just this time. The place was kinda empty for a Friday evening

Yelp
Came here with a group of 8 for a baby shower on a rainy Saturday morning! What a cute place! Service was great and food was decent. My monte cristo wasn't Disneyland, but it filled the void..... I love the beignets! My friend loved it so much she also ordered some to go! I can't wait to try other items!

Yelp
A higher end restaurant but nothing stood out. The risotto was by far the best dish. The pork was okay. The service was good, what is to be expected at a classy restaurant. I would come back but again nothing special.

Yelp
Visited here for the thanksgiving special dinner. There are not many restaurants open in the Bay Area during thanksgiving and this is one of them. Overall the food is nice. There is classic turkey element and all the ingredient are seasonal. The whole environment is chill and they do have a nice drink menu. Lots of award winning cocktails and the wine tasting is also pretty cheap. In general a nice restaurant to have a casual holiday dinner. The service is also up to standard. Definitely not a fancy restaurant but a good spot for comforting food.

Yelp
Had the most fantastic NYE dinner at Sabio on Main! We booked a holiday 5 course dinner and loved every bit of it. As soon as we walked in, we felt transported into the coziest, comfiest restaurant and all worries were left at the door (I.e. all the rain, cold, wind, flooding lol). I believe our server was Edwin and he was wonderful. He was great to talk to, had good drink recommendations, and brought out the food and drinks timely. We asked for a break between our entree and dessert since we were stuffed and he brought out dessert after a little while which gave us some time to breathe and digest! The food and drinks were wonderful. They have a 5 course dinner that lasts through the winter and then a spring menu starts up soon. Our dinner was so tasty! I was surprised by how large the portions were. We enjoyed the soup, salad, pork belly, lamb stew, cod, and chocolate desserts. We loved everything. To drink, I got the Dirty Cougar and the Mezcalarita. Both were very good and the presentation on the latter was so cool! It's been a while since we had a nice dinner that exceeded all expectations. We're looking forward to coming back soon for their spring menu. :)

Yelp
This place is super bougie and everything was excellent. My waiter recommended several dishes and matched some drinks with them that really hit the spot! Excellent service, and the environment and ambience was pleasant and cozy.

Yelp
Was very impressed with the ambiance and the fare they had to offer at an event I attended and decided to come back for their 10-course tasting menu. The tasting menu was created by Chef Francis X. Hogan who studied under Michelin-starred chefs in Spain and brought his culinary expertise and emphasis on local and sustainably-sourced ingredients to this gem in downtown Pleasanton. Our 10-course tasting menu ($125 per person): -oysters with pickled sea beans -deviled eggs with smoked salmon and caviar* -corn and shiro miso soup with corn nuts, baby arugula, and togarashi spice* -salt cod squash tempura with shishito remesco -chorizo avocado toast with quail egg and hot sauce -suyo cucumber & watercress salad with smoked sablefish, trout roe, buttermilk-dill dressing* -bread with aleppo salt butter -tagliatelle with lamb bolognese and fava beans* -SF halibut with almonds, romano beans, and fingerling potatoes -pork belly and jagerwurst sausage with zucchini and smoked tomato jus -crostinis with apricot jam, honeyed peaches, granola, and Sabio Reserve gouda* -Spiced donuts with Mexican hot chocolate sauce* *denotes favorite dishes Overall, we enjoyed our tasting experience and actually left with some food to go. Aside from taking awhile to seat us, service was on top of clearing our dishes and refilling our waters. Would love to come back here to try their happy hour and brunch in the future. Thank you for a lovely evening, Sabio!

Yelp
My husband and I came here for our 26 year wedding anniversary. They welcomed us with a personalized anniversary card, nice touch! We had the 5 course meal and it did not disappoint. Everything compliments each other. I had the Australian wagyu as my main entree, it was soft, tender and juicy.

Yelp
The flat iron steak was delicious and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The pork loin was amazingly flavorful and tender... maybe even a tiny bit better than the steak. We enjoyed the deviled eggs. We enjoyed the old fashioned cocktails. The cauliflower and the potato chips were just okay for me. The bread is a very small portion (for one) and they charge for it. Loved the vibe of the restaurant. It's on the pricey side, but seems like all good restaurants are these days. Service was excellent. We'll be back.

Yelp
Rounding up Saturday evening with a Rose and a slice of chocolate tres leches! Robert handled our table and was friendly! This place is cozy and casual; good place to have wine and conversations.

Yelp
Came by for dinner the other night and it was a mediocre experience. Made a reservation and our table was ready upon arrival. There were numerous reminders sent via text and e-mail prior to the reservation... The restaurant was ~20% full on a weeknight and service was good when the server was around. ...totally get the labor shortage. Our server wore a mask covering their nose. Parking was available on the street. The restaurant was framed as New American but felt more like a hybrid new American. Started out with the caramelized cauliflower and it was a unique way of making cauliflower with a slight kick from the fish sauce. Moved on to the roasted carrot soup which also had a slight kick. The soup was on the thicker side and wasn't too heavy. The pork belly appetizer was a slight disappointment with pork belly being on the drier side on the outside although the inside was still somewhat juicy. The English pea ravioli was probably the highlight of the meal with super fresh pasta, and very fragrant peas. The San Francisco halibut entrée was also lackluster as the halibut was a touch overcooked. I'm not sure about the beans that complemented this too. The blueberry clafoutis was also lackluster as it came out cold? The mascarpone was also thicker than what I had expected. ~$120/head after tax and gratuity for dinner. There are definitely better options in SF...

Yelp
The place is pretty cool, love the wine wall and felt very peaceful while dining. Service was great. Food was delicious and excellent, first two dishes were a bit over seasoned, but we told the chef to be light handed on the salt. Thereafter, dishes were on point. The beignets were so delicious and mouth watering. We probably had ordered everything on the Sunday brunch menu. Would need to return for their happy hours.

Yelp
We came here on a weekday afternoon during happy hour, which is from 4pm-6pm on weekdays. There is ample indoor seating and limited outdoor seating. When we arrived, there was little wait and we were seated promptly. The bartender was super friendly and helpful and our order came out soon after. We ordered: - Amaretto Stone Sour - delicious, light and fruity - Hazy Daze - slightly sour and has a stronger taste - Spicy Margarita - tastes a bit spicy due to the jalapeños, but a margarita at its core As we came during happy hour, the drinks were all $8 each which was reasonable. While I enjoyed my experience, I wish there were more vegan food options available on the menu. Overall, definitely had a good experience and will be back to try more things in the menu.

Yelp
Had reservations at Sabio to celebrate our anniversary. This was our first time trying this place and was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our window table and found a card wishing us a 'happy anniversary'. We tried the rustic Bread, Soft Shell Crab appetizer, Pork Chop and Branzino. Topped it off with the Chocolate Panna Cotta and PB&J Doughnuts. The food and service were excellent! Looking forward to going back to try the seasonal menus!

Yelp
I love this place I come here often so this review is long overdue. The location and restaurant's ambiance is beautiful and the place is clean. Our servers and the manager were really friendly, attentive, and super helpful. For this visit we arrived during happy hour so we enjoyed a few things from the Happy Hour menu as well as the A la Carte Menu. We enjoyed the following: Oysters on half shell 5/5 -$1.50 Each during HH. The oysters were fresh and really good. Brussel Sprouts 5/5 - Roasted to perfection crisp and so tasty. I will order this again for sure. Iberico Duroc Empanada 4/5 - it was ok but I was expecting to taste more Iberico in it but it was just a hint of the meat and a bit of cheese and more dough. Burger sliders 5/5 - super good the burger patties were cooked perfectly combined with the egg and the tasty buns and greens. So good that I ordered more to go to take home to my family to enjoy. Garlic Risotto 5/5 - perfectly cooked risotto with garlic and goat cheese all blended together was amazing. Key Lime Donuts 5/5 - the donuts were light and tasty and it was heavenly. The whole visit was amazing and they never disappoint so I always come to this place. We will be back again soon.

Yelp
We went here for Valentine's Day to treat ourselves to the 5 course meal. I was surprisingly able to finish the entire set! We made reservations a few weeks before, and the ambiance was so romantic, perfect for Valentine's. [Starter] I tried both the salad and the sopa de ajo. I preferred the beet and chicory salad because it was refreshing (a good start to the large meal), and I'm a huge fan of beets. The soup felt a lot heavier but the flavor wasn't too strong - I liked the egg! [Appetizer] I tried the pork belly toast and the pierogi - and both were so good (my favorites of the meal)! The pork belly toast was perfectly crispy and had a such great mix of flavors from the pork, egg, avocado, and sourdough. The pierogi had such a nice doughy flavor with a lightly sweet filling. [Pasta] I tried the Cavatelli al Cioccolato. It was a bit heavier because of the taleggio cream sauce, but the pasta and cream had a nice flavor. I also loved the many oyster mushrooms. [Entree] I had the grilled yellowfin tuna, and it was really good! The tuna had such a nice texture and flavor. The portion wasn't too much, so I was able to finish even though I wasn't too hungry. The tuna went really well with the farro! [Dessert] I tried the coconut tres leches and the ruby chocolate pot de crème. I preferred the tres leches because the cake felt light and not too sweet - a good end to the meal, and I also liked the coconut flakes on top. I didn't like the ruby cream too much because it tasted too sweet and way too heavy to end the meal, and I normally love sweets!

Yelp
Excellent service with great food. We ordered Salmon and Chicken, and both of them came out great. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a fine dining experience combined with great food.
