Sabor A Mexico Taqueria

This place is authentically Mexican and feels like it as soon as you walk in. I will warm you, this place is tiny with only 4 tables to the whole place. There is one employee working the whole thing. She is the waitress, bartender, cashier. We ordered some mezcalitas to start and they were so refreshing with no artificial lime used. I saw they hand some great drink specials such as a margarita pitcher for $35! We ordered guac to start with and I personally didnt like it because it was too oniony for me and thats not my palette. Then we ordered some molé enchiladas and we both ate up every room. They had mexican rice and pinto beans that were nicely salted. The lady working was extremely lovely and I cld tell the spot was well liked in the neighborhood.

The $10 watermelon margaritas were out of this world! The shrimp tacos were exceptional. We will be back!

I asked for a generous amount of cilantro and they graciously fulfilled that request. The lemonade was delicious.

Wonderful service, GREAT drinks (Margaritas and rum+Cokes are nice and strong but taste balanced not overbearing). The food is way above bar for Mexican food in NYC. And they have sopes and churros!

Today was my first time eating here and I loved it! We ordered the guac & chips, ground beef quesadilla, Al pastor tacos and carne asada tacos. Everything was delicious. We even repeated the quesadilla. The fresh lemonade was also pretty good!

This place is a real jewel, owned by lovely folks. A vibrant friendly spot with fresh delicious food all around—and excellent tamarind margaritas. Drop in before or after a play at Theater for the New City, right across the street.

This is a place for when you need food at night. Not too spicy not a lot of flavor but when you want a simple taco! i thought it hit because that's what i was craving! pretty good just late night though!

Sabor A Mexico Taqueria has stood out due to its closer alignment with authentic flavors, particularly their burritos. Ordered delivery multiple times, and the food has been consistently warm and enjoyable. Worth trying for anyone seeking a genuine Mexican dining experience.

Walked in one day to make a takeout order. Very cute inside and the staff is really friendly. I ordered a tinga burrito and it came out within five minutes. The burrito was great. Only negative is it's a bit pricier than I expected.

Stopped here for lunch with my friend because we were really craving tacos, so we decided to give this place a try. We sat outside and our server was nice and attentive, food came out reasonably quick. For a starter we got beef nachos, they were good but the retried beans were a little overpowering and they made the nachos a little too wet, but it was still tasty. For the main we got the carne asada tacos, if you see her place in the background my friend made the mistake of asking for no onions or cilantro, so she got steak and tortilla only, It made me laugh but she enjoyed it so no complaints haha. I thought the tacos were alright, they were dry so the lemon was necessary, the sauce they gave us helped but I personally didn't like it so I just used the lemon. Overall, not bad, a good stop for a quick bite when you need to satisfy your taco cravings

I got take out and was disappointed. The tacos are extremely small, two bites and it's gone. It's disappointing considering you are paying $12 for two tiny tacos. Will not be returning.

We have two very picky kids, and they ALWAYS pay attention to the notes I write, and they are always consistent, and the food is YUMMY! It's our go-to ALL THE TIME!

Having an apartment in this neighborhood my husband walked past this place every day so we decided to have dinner here even though I had come by here a few weeks ago asking if they had Sopas and besides telling me she didn't really speak English the answer was just No!the menu was extremely limited and really has Nothing for Vegan's or vegetarian's. I believe there is one item a burrito with spicy vegetables. It's a Mexican restaurant yet has No Mexican cheese for their items on their menu. Also No Mexican Coca-Cola in the bottle. They have Corona Beer but unfortunately there's No price on the menu for Corona so we didn't know the price until we got the bill. $12 for 2. My husband ordered a steak burrito I ordered a quesadilla they have No black beans so I had to get pinto beans they have No Vegetarian rice so I got guacamole and whatever cheese they use I believe cheddar. They have No Lime for the beer and the girl said the owner said limes are too expensive so they only gave me lemon for my beer. We were the only ones in the restaurant, and I certainly can understand why no one comes here. Our food arrives she sets it down walks away and what do you think after her and I have been talking about Vegetarian-Vegan-Food what do we have but Chicken in my quesadilla! Her answer and excuse was oh well I wrote just cheese quesadilla but the kitchen didn't see it. We are the only people in the restaurant there were No other orders. As some favor she says "oh you can keep it" I'll go and make you another dish. Ummm... clearly she wasn't listening to what I was saying because why would I keep a chicken quesadilla being a vegetarian?? I gave her the whole plate back and told her I wanted a check. My husband got his burrito to go, we drank our two beers and the bill was $32. My husband also gave her a five dollar tip I'm not sure for what her bad attitude or all the mistakes?? They are a joke! Zero stars for the service! zero stars for the food! one star for the atmosphere

I've been going to this place for 5 years. Thought I would gate-keep it but saw that there were pretty low reviews- I then read them and they all sound like BS lol. First time I came here was an accident but I've been going back ever since. I always order the enchiladas suizas and they always get it right!! When I moved to the city I was worried because I was missing out on my moms authentic Mexican food from home- I go to Sabor so I can be reminded of home. Love you guys!!

Great little Mexican spot! They have a happy hour everyday from 2-7 even though on the menu it says 3-7! The classic margaritas are normally $10 but during happy hour they are a bargain $7! They were amazing! Just the right mix of sweet and sour! Dangerously easy to drink! The food was really good! I had the enchiladas with ground beef and red sauce! Sauce was flavorful and came with refried beans and rice. For 3 of us for lunch with 2 rounds of drinks it came out to $100 which isn't bad! The food is a little expensive but very flavorful!

Recently went here with some friends and loved the place! It's a cute little joint! The staff is kind and attentive as well. They had limes for our beers, Mexican cheese for the table if you want it, and plenty of vegetarian options for my herbivore friends. The bouncer is nice too Definitely coming back!

Not only was my experience tonight at Sabor A Mexico unnecessarily negative, but it definitely tops one of my oddest/most uncomfortable restaurant experience in NYC and is flat out unsafe health-wise given the COVID pandemic. Essentially after waiting close to an hour for our food to be cooked, what we received back was not at all what we ordered. Instead of the Carne Mexican we ordered we got steak fajitas, instead of Shrimp Fajitas we got chicken, and instead of the corn tortillas we got flour, and they totally forgot our margaritas! Perhaps this is all understandable given the COVID crisis but the reaction of the restaurant manager absolutely was not. What follows is absolutely insane: My boyfriend returned to the restaurant requesting a refund once we discovered it was entirely not what we ordered, specifically for the shrimp fajitas (at that time we didn't even realize that Carne Mexican and tortillas were wrong too). The hot headed manager refused to give him a refund until we return the chicken fajitas back to the restaurant (not only is this horrible customer service, but it's also dangerous in the current state of COVID). After some back-and-forth she eventually agreed that if I come back instead (since it was under my card) she would give me a refund for the shrimp fajitas. My boyfriend left and I came back with my card requesting the refund (at this point it was nearing 10pm). She again started insisting that she will not provide a refund until we return the fajita despite just telling my partner that she would give me a refund if I came in. I left and the both of us came back for a third time because he couldn't believe that she would refuse giving me a refund after she just told him she would. We didn't win the argument - the refund was refused. But at least we got our margaritas (extremely sweet). Stay away from here particularly during COVID. A restaurant manager demanding their food hand returned to them is not only hot-headed by refusing to apologize or acknowledge a mistake but she is acting dangerously and puts everyone's health and safety at risk.

Hunger and the desire to eat something quickly yet somewhat healthy brought me here. Their chicken and steak tacos are good . The rice and beans taco is not so good so avoid that one . The tacos could've benefited from more onions and cilantro . Also their green sauce is probably the worst I've had . An improvement in that would really level up the tacos . Also, you don't get free chips which is usually a staple for "traditional" Mexican restaurants and no Mexican coke . Couple that with the prices being a couple dollars too high makes this a not so good value .

Terrible place don't go there. They are scamming people. I ordered a carne asada burrito. Barely any meat full of rice. I called and complained they didn't offer a refund or even another burrito. They just argued that I didn't say I wanted rice. Unbelievable says how much they care about there customers. If you're wanting Mexican food sadly the better option is chipotle over them. Never goin back again and here is the pic

This was an incredible establishment. We brought a large group in Saturday for dinner and the restaurant staff did everything to ensure we had the best service. There was not a single member of our party disappointed by there meal! This will for sure become a regular spot for me whenever I'm in town!

I came here on a whim because the other restaurants in the area were full and we were starving. The place itself is tiny and freezing because the door kept opening and letting the cold air in. My bf and I split an order or the steak fajitas and carnitas tacos. All tacos come with 3 or you can get 2 of one kind and a third of another. The food was very mediocre and the taco filling portions were pretty small. The fajitas came with rice, beans guac and salsa but again, the portion sizes aren't great. The prices were definitely not cheap and the service was ok (they were really nice but slow to bring our bill). In summary, given the expensive prices, small portions and mediocre food I wouldn't eat here again.

Raised prices again, almost $18 for 2 tacos with rice and beans. Tacos are decent, however for what you get the prices are criminal. Oh, and they don't sell additional tacos a la carte, which felt like a slap in the face. Slow service, took 20 mins for literally 2 tacos. No idea how they are still in business, keep walking.

Really enjoyed the Carnitas Plate + the Horchata! Had a great conversation too with Maria, who's one of the owners.

Ordered from here and called the restaurant after 40 minutes of non-delivery. Asked us to pick it up ourselves since we didn't include a tip before the order. Explained that I usually tip after the order arrives and they flat out said they wouldn't deliver without me adjusting the tip before hand. Food came cold and they got the order wrong, extortionate behavior.

Staff wasn't particularly nice or helpful. The food was fine, but not worth the price when Ben's Gourmet Deli and Jennifer's Cafe are literally in the same neighborhood.

Best Mexican food i've had in a while. the enchiladas were great and they have vegetarian options for my friend. i got the chorizo and it was amazing. HIGHLY reccomend the spicy margarita it's like every best flavor in a jalapeño in a margarita please get it.

Food is pretty good, but service is the worst in class .... 1) They are sweating all over the food because they will not invest in a fan or AC in the establishment 2) They get mad because you complain that they don't have big portions. 3) I have been ordering here for ages and it seems the portion size have been drastically decreasing ... most likely because they are going out of business ... Their food isn't bad, but only if they had people who knew how to run a restaurant in the front. The girl in the front doesn't know what she is doing. I am sure she is the daughter, but she is completely lost. I wish they would just get their act together because can be a great business.

Gave an extra star for overall experience. POSITIVE - chicken tamale was twice the size I'm used to seeing when I order one. Delicious! - chicken taquito were topped with sour cream and fresh tomatoes. It came with healthy portion of guacamole. All on bed thick bed of lettuce. I made into a taquito salad. Delicious! NEGATIVE - each time door opened cold air zipped so sat wearing a coat. - lots of foot traffic due to deliveries and to-go orders (pro boy because people know the place gets cold) - only beer, sangria and sodas I definitely will order delivery from them! Thanks Yelp for helping me find another great place.

This review isn't about the quality of the food since it's actually pretty good. It's for how crazy cheap these people are. I ordered a $14 burrito (they stopped putting guac in their burritos all of a sudden) so I asked for a side of guac. This is what I received (see pic attached). It was $3! How is that even possible??they also put the tiniest bit of sour cream and when I asked for a little more they charged me $3, for sour cream!! They need to clean their act up and start appreciating their customers before they have none

Great little spot for drinks and tacos! Nice staff, indoor and outdoor seating. Food was quick, hot and fresh.

I absolutely love this place. The margaritas are amazing. The El Pastor tacos are my favorite! The service is fast and friendly, prices are reasonable and food is always delicious and fresh. They have great specials on food and drinks during the week before 5pm. You are able to dine indoors and outdoor.

Really expensive chilaquiles (20 bucks!?!), not even close to the real thing. There's definitely better places around for a better dollar. Was the only one there at the time and it still took an eternity to get my food. Actually found a piece of ALUMINUM in my subpar food and was disgusted, which made me think nothing here is actually made from scratch. Thought I'd write a semi-nice review but the place really is a half-star joint.. Save yourself the grief.

Went here for a date with my boyfriend. Cute place, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. The food was delicious, we ordered horchata, tamales, and al pastor tacos. Our server was very kind and personable. Definitely would recommend this place to friends, we had a lovely time.

In a word: average. In forty-one words: This is that unimpressive yet perfectly acceptable Mexican joint that won't blow you away, but will satisfy your craving for meat, cheese and tortillas slapped together in whatever combination you're looking for. I've had much better, and I've had much worse.

I'm not much of a ""yelper" but this place was really good. The staff was super friendly and it was nice and cozy, good place or a date or a romantic birthday dinner. Will definitely go bacK when I'm in the area!

I'm only giving a 3 star because their Delivery guy suck balls! I have posted pics of the hot mess that I got. For $20 bucks (including tip) I would expected something better. I should've went to the restaurant to get a new plate but it was freezing out and I was tired after 4 - 12 hrs days in a row. Uuuugghhhh I'm so upset :(( otherwise the food is pretty decent. I'm not sure if I want to order for delivery anymore :(( I'm so sad. I love Mexican food. Anyone has any other Mexican joints that they would recommend? Remember when Charlotte gets rather ill in Mexico during the first Sex and the City movie? I do, although that was all in good fun. I only share that vignette to keep the memory of SATC alive and to highlight my mental state upon taking a seat that I both selected for myself and was selected for me. While I was ready for the potential dramedy of a water based illness at worst based on my SATC research, I was unprepared for the more sinister treatment I would soon be subjected to. Any observant diner at this establishment would be hard pressed to miss the disclaimer that management is not responsible for personal belongings. A reasonable enough policy. However as the meal progressed one couldn't help but ask what exactly management was responsible for. Attentive service? Not quite. A 100% success rate in receiving what you ordered? Hard no. A well mixed margarita? If $10 worth of lime-aid is something that gets you out of bed in the morning then they may actually come through on this one. Our waitress did not miss an opportunity to establish her dominance over her consumers. From her calculated decision to drop one straw on the table for two diners to fight over. To her carefully honed ability to stare directly into a customers eyes and still show no signs of life. The underlying power structures of this establishment are tougher to digest than any of the food items we were served. I wouldn't be painting a full picture of the experience though if I stopped there. Our waitress (more of a keeper at this point) did provide a missing plate of rice and beans when it was brought to her attention. Endearing kidnapped victims to their respective captors is common practice though, and I was wise not to misinterpret her polite actions in that instance as being triggered by inherently polite thoughts. A more troubling cause was more likely to be at root of this change of events. If you are good at compartmentalizing I would recommend putting the psychological warfare in one box and closing it. Open another box for the food because it was actually quite pleasant. I could see myself returning for more. Along with my annotated copy of "How to Win Friends and Influence Enemies".

there must be something going on with pay for listing rankings, cuz this does not 'come up' automatically on Mexican food in my zip code. Sabor is great, went there to kill time during a Spoken Word marathon at PS 122, and got a cheese enchilada, Mole with a nice sweet tang, pinto beans, yellow rice - so so good and got me through the Arts for another day. Quiet ballads on play, no nonsense but that doesn't mean it's dirty. It's nice.

Very cute and tiny joint, crowded. Very nice service and fair prices for the food. I got the burrito plate which was filling and pretty good.

Ordered on seamless from here and got the taco salad and my roommate got the quesadilla. Both were great and delivered in a timely manner

Such a great little hole-in-the-wall. This is easily my fifth visit or so. Authentic Mexican with an adorable little Mexican lady taking your order. The enchiladas are my favorite, but the chimichangas aren't to be missed either.

This place lets you choose individual tacos, 3 for $13 which in my opinion is pretty expensive- unless you get fish or shrimp then you have to get three of those. I got the fish and tried the spicy pork which were both OK. The chicken nachos though- so good!! I have a thing about the cheese not drying up for nachos and these did not disappoint! I'd probably come back to try the other tacos since I'm usually around this neighborhood anyway! And for such a tiny place they have a bathroom haha.

Carne Asada taco - ordered on seamless for pick-up. It was good but tbh nothing I couldn't get at a Chipotle. Price was adequate.

Fast, flavorful, and a little over priced in my opinion but still worth it! Got the Taco Salad with chicken and it was some of the best Mexican food I've had in a while.

Finally found a good place for Mexican food in NYC! I'm Mexican and from Los Angeles, so believe me when I say the food is really good. I especially loved the horchata. It's a little pricey but it's worth it. Try it out!
