As a big fan of both Vidlak’s and Bailey’s, I was super intrigued when I saw several people in the Omaha Food Lovers page say they’d drive right past those favorites to eat at Saddle Creek Breakfast Club. So of course, I had to give it a try!
We stopped by on a Thursday around 10 AM and ended up with a 40-minute wait for a two-top. We decided to stick it out, and I’m glad we did so we could try the place. I just don’t think we would stick out that wait again. Once seated at the bar, we both ordered the Saddle Creek Standard with a plain pancake to share, plus coffee and orange juice.
The food came out hot and fresh—eggs cooked perfectly, delicious sausage patties, crispy and flavorful hash browns, and perfectly toasted English muffins. The drinks were solid too. Despite how busy it was, the servers were kind, attentive, and clearly working hard to keep things moving smoothly.
Where they lost me a bit was with the pancake. I was so excited for it, but it ended up being a letdown. It seemed a little undercooked and had a strong baking powder aftertaste, like maybe the batter had a little too much of something. Not terrible, but definitely not what I was hoping for.
Overall, I’d definitely come back if there wasn’t a long wait. The food was great, but not waiting 30+ minutes great. The atmosphere, service, and most of the food were all exceptional—just wouldn’t bank on the pancake next time.
