Beautiful restaurant, good service , the meat was flavorful however the rest of my plate was plain tasting . Service was excellnet until it came down to pay, I had to ask the gentleman at the bar eating , do I go up to pay ? As he is eating he says I’ll get that for you, We are nearly done with our experience, is not when you sit down to eat. Working in restaurants I was kind of shocked . The desert was dry and old and before saying anything , it’s like they knew it was. A little disappointed in that . My appetizer was excelllent .

The food was ok, not an experience so to speak. Service and people polite but didn’t hit home. Tried it because the higher rating and area but wouldn’t recommend. The cake at the very end was dryer out and the Dr Pepper bottle I drank expires in less than 30 days…

My favorite place to get Mediterranean style food in Newport News. I usually go at a time when no one is there. I get the lamp kabob with rice and as an appetizer I get hummus and bread. The lamb is tender and delicious. Nice quiet family owned type restaurant. Highly recommend

I am glad that I found this hidden gem while looking on Google! I dined here about a week ago for lunch with a colleague of mine and we both had a great experience. We were the only ones there and were immediately greeted by the gentleman there. He was very thorough and explained all of the items that we had questions about and even informed us of the different specials that they had. I ordered the chicken kabob with a variety of rice and vegetables. The food was absolutely amazing! The chicken was very well seasoned and the rice blend complimented it perfectly. We did not have to wait long at all for our food which was great. You also receive the side of bread with two dipping sauces that were pretty good as well. The portion sizes are great! I feel that you get a good amount of food for a very reasonable price. I look forward to dining here again!

We came by right after they opened- party of 2! The waiter recommended the chefs special for 2- it had ground beef, chicken, and lamb/beef (unsure which, not familiar with lamb so not sure!!!) and two different types of rice. The portion sizes were perfect, and Oh. My. Gosh. The food was DELICIOUS!! Cooked to perfection, everything was tender and perfectly seasoned. The rice was a perfect compliment to the meal- we have very limited leftovers and I am sitting in the restaurant, stuffed with delectable food, writing this thinking about how good that food is going to be when i warm it up tomorrow. 10/10 would recommend!! Waiter recommendations are on point.

We came for our anniversary dinner and it was an exceptional meal. We ordered Anwars Special and two appetizers and after eating all we could, we left with three to-go boxes. The staff were so kind and the owner was there and very attentive. The Persian tea was divine. Go. If you want a date that makes a statement, go! Don't skip dessert 😋!

The owner, David, was very friendly and accommodating. I am celiac and he assured me that 95% of the menu is gluten free. He offered up additional information on labeling to assure me. I told him I was semi hungry and he recommended the salmon kabobs. It came with two different sauces and rice with a salad. It was fresh and delicious. I will be a new “usual” customer now!

There were more familiar Turkish and Mediterranean dishes but we were more interested in the Afghan cuisine. The atmosphere was cosy and very comfortable. The owner was super friendly and helpful as we were unfamiliar with the menu. He mentioned the ten types of kabobs on the menu, which we are very interested to try on future visits there, because we’re definitely coming back! Recommended!
