The food was ok, not an experience so to speak. Service and people polite but didn’t hit home. Tried it because the higher rating and area but wouldn’t recommend. The cake at the very end was dryer out and the Dr Pepper bottle I drank expires in less than 30 days…

Google
Beautiful restaurant, good service , the meat was flavorful however the rest of my plate was plain tasting . Service was excellnet until it came down to pay, I had to ask the gentleman at the bar eating , do I go up to pay ? As he is eating he says I’ll get that for you, We are nearly done with our experience, is not when you sit down to eat. Working in restaurants I was kind of shocked . The desert was dry and old and before saying anything , it’s like they knew it was. A little disappointed in that . My appetizer was excelllent .

Google
It’s a cute place but the food is really bad. It’s very oily and usually steak kabobs are soft but these ones are super hard. We will not be coming back.

I am glad that I found this hidden gem while looking on Google! I dined here about a week ago for lunch with a colleague of mine and we both had a great experience. We were the only ones there and were immediately greeted by the gentleman there. He was very thorough and explained all of the items that we had questions about and even informed us of the different specials that they had. I ordered the chicken kabob with a variety of rice and vegetables. The food was absolutely amazing! The chicken was very well seasoned and the rice blend complimented it perfectly. We did not have to wait long at all for our food which was great. You also receive the side of bread with two dipping sauces that were pretty good as well. The portion sizes are great! I feel that you get a good amount of food for a very reasonable price. I look forward to dining here again!

Google
Delicious food, lovely personalized service, cozy ambiance. The kebab was incredible. The sampler appetizer platter was delicious, and the desserts especially were fantastic. Insanely reasonably priced for the amount and quality of food you get.

Google
My favorite place to get Mediterranean style food in Newport News. I usually go at a time when no one is there. I get the lamp kabob with rice and as an appetizer I get hummus and bread. The lamb is tender and delicious. Nice quiet family owned type restaurant. Highly recommend

Google
Excellent Mediterranean food and service. Good selection of delicious Kebabs and the rice was excellent.

Google
Stopped in for dinner with my family, and we all had a great time! The appetizer sampler was excellent, and the dinner for 5 allowed us to try a lot of the main entrees. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
we were party of three and visited the restaurant yesterday, my fault didn't ask for price for Anwar special combo for 4 persons which was suggested by the owner because except this combo prices will be for every single entree listed in front. So I took it food was delicious no doubt but expensive cost me around of $140 so please be aware of.

Yelp
I don't know why this place has such a high rating. Food is a 2-star. And the portions were too less and the price was ridiculous. We ordered the falafel platter. It came with tiny sized 8 falafel with some rice. And it costed $21. The guy told it was their special...he was just ripping us off. The taste was interesting as well. A bit sour. I didn't like it. Baba ghanoush appetizer was $7.5 and the quantity was so less that I had to scrape it out of the plate that it came in. Restaurant needs maintenance. Bathroom ran out of soap. Place looked like it needed a makeover. Also, windows were covered with dark red curtains making the place dark with some really melancholy music playing in the background. There was absolutely no one when we walked in at 1:30pm. We should have walked out. There is one guy who is the server and the cashier. I didn't even see a cook. It's probably family run. Anyway, disappointed. We were on our way to NC and should have picked a better place.

Yelp
Food -2 service -4 ambiance - take out The ground beef was paltry and dry. The pita was completely stale and inedible. Tasted like month old toasted white bread. The salad and the rice were fine - nothing to rave home about. The sauces especially the white one was very thin, tastes like watered down buttercream ranch. Overall the platter didn't taste bad, flavor wise, if it didn't then I would have given it lower. The inside was completely empty and was generally pretty run down feeling.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Service was great. The ambiance made me feel like I was at a fancy place but the prices didn't reflect it. We truly enjoyed our visit to this place and we plan to visit again.

Yelp
Oct 26 Smells funny in there. Got sick after eating there actually. Carpets could use a good cleaning. The guy that was our server turned out to be the owner. He wouldnt shut up and let us enjoy our meal, and he smelled like he smokes 3 pack a day, i hope he washed his hands in between handling our plates. For the price, 2 people 3 dishes and 1 to go came out to $100. Chef Mikey (microwave) prepared our food, you could hear it ding in the dinning room, all night long, after each table ordered it would ding a couple time. There was 3 tables total. And took 30 mins to get our appetizer. The rice was good though, the baklava was ok, good honey flavor. Everything else, ehh. I rank my decisions to eat somewhere again as: 1 star - if someone else buys it I won't eat it, I would rather go hungry. 2 star - if I'm hungry, no other options are open and someone buys it - I would consider eating it 3 star - I'm ok with eating it as long as someone else pays 4 star - I will eat again and pay for it and be a semi-regular customer 5 star - I will travel for good food and pay good money and be back on a regular basis and maybe even pay for yours just so we can go

Yelp
I ordered the Kebab Koobideh dinner through Uber Eats. Upon delivery I received one kebab, not two, some old rice and a tiny wilted salad for $31, plus no grilled vegetables, see photo, was VERY angry. I called the owner to complain and he was more concerned about the price I paid and not the quality or quantity of food I received, plus he said maybe the cook forgot the vegetables. I said no Persian forgets the vegetables . Never again!

Yelp
This restaurant was such a surprise! The outside and signage are deceiving because it makes it look like a dumpy little place, but inside is beautiful and opulent! Two of my girlfriends met me here one late afternoon for an early dinner. The owner was very courteous and charming. Once my two friends arrived, he gave us a rundown on the menu and the vegetarian options. We started with two appetizers which were very good and the Persian hot tea (divine!). The entrees came out next and were presented beautifully with good portions. The saffron rice was delicious as were the chicken kabobs I ordered. My two friends were very happy with their dishes too. And of course we had dessert! My favorite dessert was the pistachio cookies. They were so light and flavorful. We had plenty of questions and the owner was happy to tell us some history and background as well as some of the processes for cooking the food. Not only was the food delicious and the prices reasonable, but we were very entertained by the stories the owner told us. All of us decided we want to put this place in our regular rotation for our dinners out. The next day, we met up with several other women and told them all about this wonderful jewel! We are all looking forward to going back.

Yelp
The ambiance is kinda old and dusty but its okay for me the host which is the owner is very friendly and nice but.. we orders the appetizer set i don't like it ..the dolmas is very sour and slimy We ordered entrees the order for 2 people is $38.50 so we assumed since it doesn't have a price our the order for 4 people is somewhat $80 no no no its $150-160 considering the ambiance and the food im sorry i wont be paying that much for the food that tasted okay ..i will never go back to this restaurant again...

Yelp
Even though the owner, our host, was very friendly and helpful, I must be honest about our experience. I hate to do this because I know how hard it must be to run a restaurant but I have honestly never eaten food this bad before. People need to know. We went because of the amount of positive reviews. I'm confused how this is possible. Maybe we visited on a really bad night... We were given dips (not sure what you'd call them) that tasted like they had gotten so old and so rancid, they were like battery acid in our mouths. Horrifying. Then I got chicken which was the most unpleasant texture and taste. I asked for a box for my food to go because we were too nervous to tell him about how terrible it was. I actually threw up multiple times when I got home. We love authentic Mediterranean cuisine and trying new places but unfortunately we will not be returning and feel obligated to let others know our experience.

Yelp
Saffron definitely embodies Mediterranean cuisine. (A little geography lesson) The Mediterranean region and countries that run along this particular body of water is mainly Spain, Morocco, Lebanon, Greece, Tunisia, Turkey, and others. The focus for the food is mainly on fresh products, very distinct and pronounced flavors, herbs and spices are made the essential ingredients, and made with simple preparation. This type of cuisine is slowly becoming my favorite because its very healthy and fresh. Therefore when I came across this restaurant unexpectedly I decided to try it which was a great decision. The dishes are creative and mostly are of Lebanese and Turkish recipes. Saffron also serves Turkish tea which was divine! Along with cute aesthetically pleasing sugar cubes to garnish your tea. For an appetizer I went with a simple dolma platter which was fresh but to my surprise it was served hot. Normally when I'm served dolma its cold so I'm not sure if I just experienced real dolma lol because I've been served some fake cold one all these years lol. However everything was so fresh and flavorful, seasoned with everything but salt and pepper which was a nice change to my taste buds.

Nini G.

Yelp
Not what we expected from Mediterranean food. They should at least give you fresh bread with the flavorless food.

Priscilla D.

Yelp
Great service and food. My family and I got the player with different types of kebabs.

Caroline J.

Yelp
The food here is delicious! Everything we tried was so good. We started with the vegetarian sampler platter and all of it was fresh and so yummy. I believe it had baba ganoush, hummus, another salad, some roasted cold veggies, a delicious red sauce in the middle and bread. Great way to try a little bit of everything and we had plenty to take home too! We got the combination platter for two and upgraded to the lamb kebab. It also came with the beef and chicken kebabs as well. All the meat was so tender, cooked well and had great flavor. The two kinds of rice (the one with Lima beans and carrots and raisins) was amazing I also had a tea which delicious and came with sugar cubes! I loved it. The only downside was that service is not that quick. There was only one server so luckily we were not in a rush. It was nice to have a nice and relaxed dinner.

Yelp
Saffron is a great little gem. When we walked in, you could tell they pride making good food and sharing some knowledge of what goes into the food. They use unique spices that came with a lesson. Our waiter shared clues to try to guess what the spice was made of. It was fun and challenging. Now for the food! The Dolmas were fresh and warm! Very nice taste from traditional cold style. We got the falafel platter which was a special for the night. I highly suggest getting these delicious dish! The falafel inside was so soft and full of green goodness! We also got the lamb platter which was equally delicious. The rice was also very fragrant and tasty!! I recommend tasting piece of lamb with the falafel-yum! Check this place and support local businesses!

Katie H.

Yelp
The owner here is absolutely amazing! You've gotta play the spice game as well. The food is DELICIOUS. Hospitality is very nice. Highly recommend!! Definitely a hidden gem. :)

Yelp
It was a beautiful experience! Great food! Definitely recommend! The staff was so welcoming and attentive. Hard to find good persian food around here, but I'm glad this place is around

Yelp
Decided to try this place out for lunch one day. We arrived around 12:30 and were the only ones in the restaurant the whole time. The guy who was either was either the manager or owner was great. He explained everything on the menu, gave suggestions and even played a game with us. He gave us a spice to try and we had to guess what was in it. We got the Saffron Combination and shared. It was just enough for 2 people. All the meat was very well seasoned. Beef was a little over cooked and a bit tough. It also came with a very generous portion of rice. He said there were three different types of rice. Everything was decently priced and delicious. We had rice left over and he pressured us to pack it up and take it home. Said it took 3 days to make. Didn't love being pressured to take home food but it wasn't a huge deal. No one else came into the restaurant the whole time we were there and it was FREEZING inside! Seems like he only turned on the heat when we got there but never warmed up enough.

Yelp
A delightful experience I had here- freshly made food. I tried the special: dolmas, savory, juicy and flavorful. Falafel plate: crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside. Served with a salad and three types of rice. I also had this wonderfully fragrant Persian tea with my meal, and had a couple of bites of Afghan cookies-- they were rich and crunchy! Generous servings, and filling too! Definitely will make a return trip!

Yelp
The food was oh so good! My wife and went here yesterday after the parade. We got the dinner for 2 with the cold appetizer platter. The spices were applied heavily, and that is what made it taste so good. Service - The maitre D was also the waiter, but that was enough staff for the dozen customers. Ambiance - The restaurant appears very pretty, and very inviting. If you enjoy Greek and Eastern Mediterranean food, this is your place. The only detraction would be the price. Dinner for 2 costs $76 after tax and tip. Other than that, only praises.

Arch A.

Yelp
Outstanding dinner We had the smaller special for two. Wonderful kabobs and delicious rice!! We shall return!!
google avatar

Chanel T.

Yelp
I tried the kabob koobideh platter and bolanee kachalou. Everything tasted good and had nice flavor. The platter came with one kobab two types of rice ( dill & lima bean rice and carrot rice) and a little side salad and bread. I also like the two sauces that came with the meal

Yelp
Lamb Shank & Falafel Platter were today's special, which we enjoyed. Ambiance is upscale, but aged. A coat of paint and a good cleaning would make a great difference. Food was excellent; lamb was tender and falling off the bone; falafel was nicely crisped yet moist and flavorful. Service was friendly and professional.
google avatar

Yelp
Don't judge a book by its cover. We think some of the best food come from dives so we knew the place look tired. I got the Falafel platter and Hubs got the Lamb shank. Yes, we read the specials on our way in and decided that those were what we wanted. Fake plants galore and peeling paint on window sills but the place has been around. The lone owner? I assume was magnificent towards us, asking if we wanted water with gas or not. Haven't had that option since traveling abroad. Very nice. Then he pointed to a spice on the table and said to guess what it was! We were served Persian bread with two sauces. Hubs thoroughly enjoyed his lamb shank leaving just a bone left. He had the rice with carrots and cranberries which I had as well along with lima bean rice. Wow! Lima beans are not my favorite but these beans were so soft that I didn't realize I was eating them! The falafels were so moist and large enough for me. Fries were included too. Took the rice home. Got the answers wrong to the game about the spice but when you come here give it a go!

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant, with unbelievable food! The host, David was excellent as well!!

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. The food is authentic and so flavorful. You can tell the owner takes pride in his cuisine and truly enjoys cooking. I discovered the Sambose this week (fried dumpling hot appetizer). Those things are gonna be problem for me lol. I'm slowly working my way through the menu and have yet to be disappointed. I'd also like to add that my vegan friend and my meat loving self can both find items we absolutely love on this extremely diverse menu.
google avatar

Dia T.

Yelp
I forgot to take pics... however the food looks just like the other pics! First- I am a vegetarian 90% of the time. Also- I was just getting over Covid and my taste buds were not so great ( I door dashed and had them leave it at my door fyi) I really wish they had some more vegetarian options for protein, but I think some options were not available on door dash cause I did not see falafel. I ordered the : Babaganoush- it was ok- no thrills but my taste was off Sliced Spanish Eggplant- it was cold and I thought it would be hot- I couldn't taste it but it looked amazing Bolanee Kachalou V- a little oily Boneless Joujeh Kabob Chelo GF- wonderful flavor and rice is BOMB Kids Schnitzel- sub fries for rice- enough for an adult and was the house favorite!!! Chicken was moist and delicious my friend!!!!!! I'm having this on meat day!!!!!

Yelp
Food was good but the owner was a tad creepy. Ambiance was a bit outdated and dusty. Will probably give it another try, but I'll make sure there's a large group.

Gabriela M.

Yelp
We spent 1 hr in this place. Only two tables of two, including ours. I swear we heard the microwave about 50 times to "prepare" our food. The bread was warmly microwaved. Mmm... delicious. (nope) Lamb was okay. Both plates were more rice than anything else and extremely overpriced. Dips for appetizer were rancid. I honestly do not understand how it has so many 5 stars reviews. My stomach hurts.

Kathie H.

Yelp
The food is delicious. The service is great. The owner is very friendly. We went on a cold rainy day and the hot tea was so warm and relaxing. I can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Started off with bolani and I was shocked to see what came to the table. If the owner is Afghan he/she should not serve that and misrepresent the appetizer. For anyone who wants to try bolani please google what bolani is suppose to look like. Ordered their family meal which is awfully expensive and the price is not even listed on the menu. The stews came out cold and had no flavor. Looked like a dish from the walking dead show. The meats were poorly seasoned and came out cold. The lamb shank was extremely dry and barley seasoned. The rice that the owner described that takes two days to make is a fairy tale he likes to tell his customers. Soaking the basmati rice only takes takes 4-6 hours. And I'm not sure how does he calculate the sales taxes but I'm pretty sure he does it wrong. This restaurant is a disgrace to the Afghan food.

John P.

Yelp
This is an excellent Mediterranean restaurant with a mixture of cuisines. The food was excellent and very flavorful. It has a small but nicely decorated dining room and the staff and very warm and attentive taking time to explain the different cuisines. The lamb kabob was one of the best I have had.

Yelp
This restaurant is probably slept on due to the appearance however the food was great. The service was amazing. The waiter explained every dish to us along with the origins of the dish. The restaurant is outdated as far as appearance but the food and service are awesome. Great place for takeout.

Yelp
Everything about this experience gets 5 stars. I feel like I've handed out a bunch of those recently.... We called at about 7:10 on Saturday night because we had already had two restaurants in the area tell us they couldn't accommodate or had pipes burst over the past 40 minutes so we were getting desperate.... The owner told us to come on in and they would find us a table although they were really busy. So we walked the 1-2 blocks down to this place and found it to be really homey and charming, a total hometown-type establishment. We waited for about 5 minutes for a table to be cleaned off and we were seated and offered bread and water. We waited for a few minutes before the owner came over to speak with us and make his menu recommendations. He tried to talk me out of the salad bc our entree had one with it but I always want a salad so I went with the SALAD SHIRAZI for $5.50 - pretty huge portion for that price. My friend and I shared it. The manager/owner recommended we split the THE SAFFRON COMBINATION (FOR TWO) for $33.50 which had two different beef options and chicken and is served with a small salad and a large side of rice. Two different kinds I think - dill and lima bean rice. The rice was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. NOM. I ate so much of it I thought I'd pop. We asked for two servings of chicken and only one of beef which he changed around for us and it was out fairly quickly - the chicken was DELICIOUS. Nom. Huge portion and generous nice cuts of meat that were lightly seasoned. My friend has a soy allergy which makes it hard to eat out but we were informed that wouldn't be a problem as they don't use soy. We really enjoyed our meals and our water glasses were never empty. After dinner we enjoyed warm glasses of delicious Persian tea with sugar cubes and sat and talked for a while. When we got the bill we spoke to the owner/manager for a while and expressed how happy we were with the food and he invited us back again and said he was glad we were able to come in and finally get some food (he must've been who I spoke to on the phone) and said that they try to source only the freshest and best ingredients and that our menu items were from Afghanistan (the recipes). He showed us a delicious and large dessert selection with some cookies I wanted to try but will have to wait until next time. We were stuffed and ended up taking some meat and rice home with us! A great end to a rough Saturday girl's date night start!

Yelp
New to the area, and went off of the Yelp reviews for good Mediterranean cuisine.. As you can see they have good reviews and what not right? Sheesh!!! Whole setup/scene was something out of a scary movie We get there, and notice there was only 1 couple in the entire restaurant eating in the corner (yikes)! We stand by the door for a good 10 min (no lie) before anyone comes out from the kitchen, Finally dude comes out in a suit (must be owner, cook, waiter) and asks us if we had reservations (I gave him the puzzled look) remember there was only 1 couple in the entire restaurant.. I replied and told him no, and he tells us to have a seat anywhere (lol).. We sit, and he comes to our table and tells us, he will be back in 5 min.. (huh??) After like 10 min, dude comes back to our table smelling like cigarette smoke, and mask sliding down off his face.. He then asks us if we wanted the bottle water they had setup at the tables or regular water (I assume tap water) We tell him the bottle water.. Mind you, dude made it seem like it was free or something.. Spoiler alert, it's not free!! Actually when I looked at the damn bill it was $4 per bottle Before I continue, dude was working the entire restaurant, from the front to the back.. Very odd! Additionally, 2 other couples came in to make it a whopping total of 4 tables, and dude was working all of them.. As you can imagine, service sucked.. Ok, back to the review He brought out some warm bread that was warmed up in the microwave "allegedly" with 2 dipping sauces.. 1 creamy looking with dill (just ok) and the other looked like salsa, but it wasn't.. Which was actually pretty flavorful.. Random: Every time I dipped the bread in that "salsa" looking sauce and ate it.. It made me want to "gleek"... Remember "gleeking" as a kid? anyways back to the review For the appetizer I ordered: Bolanee Kachalou (pretty much a fried empanada with mushy potatoes) and ugggh, yeah that wasn't good! It came with the same "gleek" sauce For the dinner I ordered: Joujeh Kebab Chelo (pretty much chicken cooked on a skew) which came with rice.. Before ordering I asked if it was a lot of food for dinner? He told me that it was plenty of food and how much chicken you get.. Sheesh, you get more rice than anything! The chicken wasn't that many pieces.. When the food came out it looked good, but it severely lacked flavor!! WOW.. I mean it had no flavor at all (chicken), along with the chicken being dry... Let me wrap this up... our bill was 50.00+ dollars, which was not worth it at all!!! And he charged me 8.00 for 2 waters (rip off) I say all this to say that I will not be back!

Yelp
Simply the best. Great service, great food. The owner provided an educational dining experience explaining ever dish and because it was our first experience- gave us samples of a variety of food. Don't let the exterior discourage you. We sat in the parking lot, left to look for another place to eat, then decided to go back. Best decision ever. We will definitely visit again. Accommodations for vegan and non vegan eaters.

Yelp
Great variety of food. For vegetarians and non-vegetarian. The atmosphere is inviting. The service is great. The foods are explained when you don't understand.

Yelp
A great, local, authentic restaurant nestled in the midst of southern charm. The food is delicious, the service amazing, and the owner lovely. I had the salmon kebab plate that was A-mazing and the creamiest baba ghanoush I've ever had! Loved it all! I will definitely be visiting again the next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Amazing food and even better service! Me and my husband decided to try this place out for date night and we were extremely impressed. This restaurant is located right outside of the historic Hilton Village which is such a great area to walk around in. The outside doesn't look like much but the inside had an elegant feel, complete with white table clothes. The owner greeted us once we were seated and went over the menu. We ordered sambose as an appetizer and the saffron combination the owner recommended. He asked if we had been there before and when we said no, he surprised us with a sampler platter of different kinds of hummus, babaganoush, ect. with fresh bread. Each dip was delicious and the bread was very fresh. The sambose quickly followed and we loved their crispy outsides and savory, ground beef filling. At this point I was already sold yet then the grand event arrived....the combination platter! It was comprised of ground beef kabobs, grilled chicken kabobs, and steak kabobs served alongside a delicious pile of fresh dill rice. Each of the meats blew me away with how tender and flavorful they were! I have had the beef kabobs before in Qatar and Saffron's brought me right back. The rice had the perfect amount of dill and served as the perfect compliment to the meats. Yes the food was to die for but what really stole the show for me that night was the service. The owner really put a lot of effort into making sure we had a good evening and his passion for his restaurant really shown through. I cannot wait to go back and try out more of the menu!

J L.

Yelp
I was not going to post but I am still very disgusted with our meal and I wanted to warn people for health reasons. We ordered take out for a New Years Day lunch with family. We started to eat our meal but I noticed that there was a cockroach in my rice. Originally, I thought it was a raisin but as I was eating, I noticed the presumed raisin actually had legs. We all were disgusted by the cockroaches in the rice. We paid almost $200 for our meal but It all went to waste and was thrown into the trash. Totally gross.

Yelp
I have been dining here for some time. The food is amazing and the tuxedo wearing owner is so polite and knowledgeable. I have never been disappointed. I don't know what Lavel was talking about but I have been to Oklahoma City where the dining options are terrible so maybe that reviewer has a strange concept of food. And bitching about the price of imported bottled water??? This reviewer better stick to MacDonald's. Certainly he is not ready for a classy little Restaurant with great food and amazing service.

Yelp
Such an amazing experience! We went in on a whim and were amazed by how good the food was! Definitely recommend going here! And to speak to other another review, when we first went in we were the first couple in there during a weekday because we went in shortly after opening. Our experience was still really amazing... so don't judge a book by it's cover! We plan to go back & I DEFINITELY recommend giving this place a shot!!

Yelp
Delicious food and great service, if you have a craving for Mediterranean this is the place to go!

Yelp
The food is a revelation, we highly recommend Saffron. Living in, and just having visited, the foodie cities of Portland, OR and Richmond, we're pretty spoiled. But Saffron holds its own, and more. The proprietor has managed to express his remarkable life story in food. We had the combination appetizer, and combination kabob platter. The appetizer surveyed four middle eastern and Mediterranean flavors, including the most exquisite hummus and tabouli we've ever enjoyed. The combination kabob platter featured three remarkably tender and flavorful meats. Do yourself a favor and dine here.

Yelp
Wow! Is all I can say. My family and I came here as first timers tonight and we were absolutely impressed. The authentic cuisine was made with such precision and care and it definitely shows. The owner is so passionate about what he does and took the time to explain processes and ingredients to our captive audience. 10/10 overall!

Yelp
Beautiful decor, classy and calming atmosphere. The owner is delightful and a wonderful storyteller. Food was authentic and delicious. Nice servings, had to take home the leftovers. The dessert is also really good and has a unique but satisfying taste. Hint: ask him about the seasoning that looks like paprika

Yelp
The host/waiter is extremely polite. The atmosphere is much better than I expected from looking at it from the outside. The food is as good, if not better than I expected it to be. Did I mention how polite the waiter was? He definitely left a positive impression on me and he sone is worth me giving this place 5 stars. The food and atmosphere just add on to it. The lamb I had was extremely tender and flavorful and the rice was excellent! The hot tea I got was perfect. Although I felt slightly dressed down for the service provided, I definitely felt welcomed and comforted. I definitely enjoyed that the menu included styles of cooking from similar, but different countries and that the waiter briefly explained that to us. I definitely plan on coming back soon.

Yelp
I visited saffron in December 29th for my sons birthday . I came from California and the first impression I got of the restaurant was that it was rundown , old, and dirty. There was only one host which was the owner . He was informative on what came on the plate , but he did not explain the prices well . We got the chefs special and one appetizer and the price came out to $159.12 . This price was ridiculous for the service that was given , on top of that the Falafel was frozen . $159 for one plate and an appetizer without even ordering any drinks was a complete rip off . I will never come back to this location .

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to eat on a Saturday night. I happen to see Saffron on Yelp a couple of times but always passed over it. My boyfriend loves kabobs/Mediterranean food, so we finally decided to go check it out. It's down on Warwick Blvd., near the Hilton Village area. There's a small private parking lot, but be sure not to miss the entrance to it, otherwise you have to do a couple of u-turns to get back to it. We got there around 7:30 pm, but there was plenty of parking. There was one other table eating there, otherwise it was empty. It was a little alarming for a Saturday night, but the waitress was super friendly and quickly showed us a table. She let us know we had just missed the dinner rush, but it seemed a little strange that the dinner rush was so early. But after the amazing, friendly service and humongous portion size, I'm glad we didn't have to wait for a table or fight other people to eat here. There were only 2 waitresses working that night, they were both very friendly and accommodating. There are bottles of sparkling water, but we opted for regular old tap. The brought out a basket of small pieces of pita bread with two types of dips. The waitress also brought out a free sample platter of cold appetizers. The babaganoush was hands down the best thing. It was well spiced and very tasty. Next time I go there, I will most definetely just get an appetizer of just that. They constantly kept our water glasses and the basket of pita bread full. The waitresses were also super knowledgeable about the food and gave us plenty of suggestions. We ordered the Saffron King Combo that came with pretty much all the grilled meats. It also came with a couple of different types of rice. One had raisins and carrots in it, which I was hesitant about but really enjoyed. The meats were good, very decent. Not the best Kebabs I've ever had, but stil. good. The amount of food was unreal. For $40, we essentially had enough for the next 2 days worth of lunches. The waitress also offered to box up some pita bread for us as well. I was thoroughly surprised by Saffron. It had some of the nicest, most friendliest service I've ever encountered. The price is great for what you get. It might not be the most happening place on a Saturday night, but that just means you'll get all star service and your food quickly. Get the babaganoush, and you'll be golden.

Yelp
This spot is one of my favorites! The service is always great and David the owner always goes the extra mile to accommodate my families plant based needs with amazing tasting foods. I love the different rices the come with every meal and the hot eggplant stew is always great along with their falafel platter.
