I had a good dinner here this evening. There was a bit of confusion regarding my reservation. I was finally seated in the extended dining room in the station bar. I started with a cocktail that was very good. The shrimp cocktail was nicely presented on a large bed of ice. this came with a piece of lemon and three sauces.. The wedge salad was very good. The 12 ounce ribeye was well seasoned and very tasty vegetables were I roasted vegetables as a side for the steak the roasted vegetables were standard but not delicious ice cream for dessert. I had grilled pineapple with coconut ice cream, this was very good and it was a very nice lite dessert. I had a nice discussion with the new general manager that has only been there for one week. He was very nice and I enjoyed talking with him.

Spent the day exploring Winston-Salem with my husband. We were headed to a different restaurant, but after reading mixed reviews, I hopped on Google maps to look at more options. After reading the fabulous reviews about Sage and salt, we both agreed that we need to try this place! We met Brandon, one of the owners, and he blew us away with his hospitality. The hostess Layla is a sweetheart as well, our server Nick was fantastic and Kate, the GM was wonderful. I was told Chef Pat has worked with top restaurants and trained to make the most delicious foods. We think he has nailed it! Sage & Salt’s staff go over & above. First class service all the way! I had the Pan-Seared Scottish salmon & it was like none other that I have ever tasted. The jumbo shrimp was actually jumbo and so fresh! We also tried the Shishito peppers, pork belly Sriracha honey, & flat iron steak chimichurri. My husband’s Pan-seared scallops with English Pea risotto was mouth watering. There is lovely live music on Friday & Saturday nights. I highly recommended making reservations because Sage & Salt was packed and for good reason. Bon appétit Josephine Local Guide

There was nothing about our initial visit to Sage & Salt that didn’t impress. We sat at the bar (reservations on Open Table are broken out for bar, dining room and both patios) and enjoyed drinks and dinner in the very capable hands of Tom behind the bar. He made excellent drink and dinner suggestions (he makes one heck of a Manhattan). Our appetizer choice was the tuna tower, very fresh with flavors that complemented each other well. For entrees we had the rack of lamb and sea scallops, both perfectly cooked and delicious. Their cheesecake comes from Alex’s so you know it’s top notch, and the rice pudding brûlée was a creative take on a traditional dessert. Cannot recommend this place enough, it has a great “it” factor that makes it a welcome addition to the WS restaurant scene. We’re already planning our next trip there.

Sage and Salt was absolutely amazing! The second the tomato bruschetta hit the table, we knew we were in for something special. It was the first thing to come out, and it was packed with so much fresh, bold flavor that it immediately set the tone for the rest of the meal. We would’ve ordered everything on the menu if our tummy would’ve allowed it! Not a single dish fell short. From start to finish, the experience was flawless. The scallops were fresh, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The Wellington was cooked to absolute perfection — flaky, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth good. And the Solemnly Old Fashioned? Let me just say this: out of all the restaurants where I have ordered one, this is the ONLY place where my wife has turned around and ordered one as well. Huge shoutout to our waiter, Chase, who made the evening even better with top-tier service. Consider this your sign to make a reservation ASAP. You won’t regret it.

Google
This was not my best experience with the food. The macaroni and cheese was not good at all. The steak was good but it was a little under cooked. I asked for medium well. It was more pink than expected but very flavorful. The crab dip was ok. The pita bread that comes with it was way too soft. I like a little crisp. There was some hard type of bread as well that paired better. The crab dip was warm when it came out. I was expecting it to be hot. My son's lamb chops and mashed potatoes was the best thing out of what we ordered. My daughter's Ronti lacked flavor. The server did great! She tried her best to accommodate us. My mac and cheese was switched out for the oven stuffed baked potato. It wasn't good either. It tastes more like the bacon on top than anything. It's small inside. The prices don't go with the decor inside or outside. The food is overpriced for what you get. They charged $36 for one shot. I'm not sure if I would try it again. We drove 30 minutes and we weren't impressed.

Google
his was my first visit to Sage & Salt, and I'll definitely be back. Noise and atmosphere: I went on a Tuesday evening, at 5:30pm, so keep that in mind as you read. It was easy to get in, and no issue choosing a table inside or outside. Also, the noise was pretty non-existent. Again, for both of these, keep in mind day and time. It's a smaller venue, and I have no reference for how the atmosphere changes on a weekend. Service: Our server was great. When she first came to the table she said, "You don't have to be in a rush," and I really appreciated that. So many restaurants make it seem like they are more interested in turning over tables, so this was a nice touch. The owner/manager came over to check on us, which I always appreciate. Food: the menu changes seasonally, so I won't go to much into details, as it might be different depending on the time of year you go. The drink menu is extensive. They have lots of signature cocktails, which looked interesting. The food menu will have something for everyone (chicken, fish, beef, etc.). They definitely live up to the "salt" part of their name, so be ready for that, especially if you aren't a heavy salt user, but otherwise the food was amazing! I will definitely go back. Great place for a nicer night out.

Google
Had the Ribeye..filet and clam appetizer! Omg it was all phenomenal. Only small issue was my filet was medium. I asked for medium rare. The service was fantastic!! We will go back!! They bring me a medium rare filet and it will be perfection!! Don’t forget those sautéed clams. I got without the ham. They were sooooo good!!!

Google
My steak was blood raw after I ask twice for it to be well done no pink. They took it back 2 times and recooked it. Some how they made it as tough as leather but still bloody in the center. I ate two bites and the waiter still ask me if I wanted to take it home. No I wanted it cooked and not so tough you couldn’t chew it.

Yelp
Superb service, great cocktails and very tasty food- highlights were the burrata as appetizer and the skewers for main courses (octopus and the mushroom ones).

Yelp
Overall, this was a pretty "meh" experience. The waitstaff seemed very new and not what you'd expect from a more expensive restaurant. Our first round of drinks took over 20 minutes to arrive, which set the tone. On the upside, the oysters were excellent--but everything else was average at best. The chicken was dry, and the tartare was overwhelmingly salty. For a $200+ dinner, I'd expect much better. Honestly, I'd rather go to Six Hundred, Downtown Grill, or even Roosters. What concerns me most is hearing that the new owners of Six Hundred are the same people behind this place--I really hope they don't bring the same issues over there.

Yelp
This place always gets a ton of recommendations but I don't get the appeal. We tried a variety of dishes from the pork belly skewer, chicken parm, and steak. The pork belly skewer was ok but the skin needs to be crispier. Mac n cheese side was delicious. Sauce on the chicken parm was delicious and the best dish of the night. Steak was poorly cooked. Ordered medium rare but was unevenly cooked with parts super well done and chewy. Some of it was closer to medium rare but overall a dry, underwhelming steak. Vegetable side was nice and a change of pace from the normal veggie sides with golden beets and onions. Servers were attentive and very helpful in trying to remedy the poor experience with the steak.

Yelp
I've been here twice. I do think it's a good restaurant, but to me it's overpriced. It is a charming place in what appears to be a former rail station, and there are two sides-the main restaurant and the Station, which gives speakeasy vibes and has live music on certain nights. We do appreciate the atmosphere at the Station. The menu is eclectic with oysters/seafood, steaks, pastas, and Japanese Robata skewers. The portions are mid though. And although the flavor is good, I just feel like they don't always add the special touches needed to justify the price. The flatiron steak robata skewer was very flavorful, but it was small for the price. This time hubby opted for a Sage & Salt burger and substituted the fries with brussels. The burger itself was okay, but just not $28 good. It was also slightly overcooked. But he didn't want to complain. The brussels were a bit too salty for his/my taste. They aren't the crispy kind, which is okay, but they should lighten up on the sodium. I understand Salt is in the name of the place, but there are a few items that could use a lighter hand with the shaker. Most of their entrees are much more expensive and still the portions are smaller. The bar is very nice and extensive. And our server was great. I will try again, but I am on the hunt for a comparable option that's a bit more of a value.

Yelp
We came to the Sage and Salt for Mother's Day dinner. Obviously, reservations were needed to be seated timely. We got the mussels appetizer and it was fantastic. The sauce was amazing. I got the Yellow Fin Tuna entree, and it was cooked very nicely. We ordered wine to go with our entrees. Unfortunately, the bar was covered up, and the wine showed up as we were finishing our entrees. For dessert, we split the Chocolate Cake. Yum!

Yelp
We were stoked to try out Sage and salt last night! We had reservations so we were immediately seated and provided water and info by our server. They have photos of the specials which is appreciated. We started with cocktails and the mushroom skewer which was DELICIOUS. I ordered a steak with Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was charred more than I like on the top, but had a great flavor underneath the char. The steak...was beautifully presented. Sadly it was so tough and chewy, I barely ate half of it so that was disappointing, esp for the price tag. Parking was super easy, it's a cool vibe, and the service was awesome.

Yelp
We stopped in for a dessert and sat at the bar with Jonathon S. friendly knowledgeable, helpful. He was able to easily explain how each dessert was made, and what was appealing about it. We chose the Grilled pineapple and the chocolate salted caramel Ice cream. Both are absolutely delicious! We will be back!

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant! Outstanding food and service. Our waiter was Jaden who was amazing! Great recommendations and super attentive. Can't wait to go back another time when I am in Winston.

Yelp
We dined out with friends at Sage & Salt bistro and really enjoyed our dinner! Because we had a larger party we got to sit on the station side and enjoy both menus from the station and Sage & salt. We ordered an array of skewers, bread service, appetizers, and entrees. The bread service was some of the best I've ever had and the skewers were to die for. While pricey, the burger was phenom! My only qualm is that I ordered my ribeye medium and it came out well done, sent it back and it came out well done again. The flavor was wonderful but for the price I want to make sure my steak is cooked to the temp I prefer. So I'd probably stick with the skewers and another entree next time. Atmosphere was lively and service was prompt. We will be back!

Yelp
I brought my mom here on New Year's Eve and we were both in awe! Everything from the service to the food to the ambiance was a 12/10. There are many seating options like the dining room, the bar, and the outdoor heated option. I really enjoyed watching the chefs from the bar. We ordered so many food items and everything was seasoned to perfection. I don't believe you can go wrong here. So together we tried the rack of lamb, mac and cheese, twice baked potato, Brussel sprouts, crab and artichoke dip and the salmon. There was unfortunately no room for dessert lol They have a very extensive wine list where they have a sommelier help you order what you like. We tasted 2 different wines and they were too hard to choose from but they've got it all! I will certainly be back for the food AND the experience!

Yelp
Such attention to detail!!!! Amazing spot! The chefs are on it! Kudos for the Prawns and frites on 8/13 at 8:45pm before closing Thank you Douglas for the tasty margarita UP. If you come to Winston, don't pass up this quaint comfortable yet prime restaurant. It's giving Gordon Ramsey vibes lol

Yelp
was asked to go to the location at the end... i am assuming because the original was booked? it was unclear and more communication would have been nice. i went right at open so it felt a little disorganized and not very professional. the waitress seemed to not really know the menu super well but was kind and honest. i enjoyed their pasta but the chicken was tough for me. i would recommend just the pesto pasta. drinks were fairly unique and pretty tasty. worth a try!

Yelp
I had a delicious meal here last week! I came for a solo birthday dinner on Friday around 630pm and was able to sit at the bar immediately. The bar looks into the kitchen so you can see all of the activity going on. I took a look at their menu and opted for their smoked old fashioned, bacon wrapped scallops, and the grilled shrimp pasta primavera. Everything was scrumptious. I don't even like old-fashioned, but I can't turn down a drink when there's the option to have it smoked! And the drink itself was so smooth, had just a touch of sweetness that let me enjoy and sip on it slowly throughout my meal. The bacon scallops were out of this world- so tender and juicy and full of flavor, and the same goes for my pasta. It had such a savory but also light cream sauce that just satisfied my palate perfectly. I should have tried a dessert but I was too full for any more food. This is definitely some place to treat yourself! It is pricier, no doubt, but worth every cent and I would recommend it for any special occasion. Service was friendly, attentive, all around just a really great dining experience here. One very small note- the bar seats are an awkward 2-3 inches too short, in my opinion! I felt like the counter was just too high- but that doesn't detract from the quality of the food or service at all! Highly recommend adding this spot on WS bucket list.

Yelp
Tonight we dined at Sage and Salt in downtown Winston (where Mozelles used to be), and it was an impressive experience. I ordered the roasted chicken and scallops, which were both perfectly cooked. The fried artichokes added a great crispy texture, and the pea risotto was creamy and flavorful, rounding out the dish beautifully. The drink menu was creative--I had a THC-infused mocktail that was refreshing and unique, as well as a beer that paired well with the meal. To finish, we indulged in their homemade strawberry cake, which was moist and bursting with fresh flavor. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with great attention to detail in both food and drinks. Service and ambiance was also top notch! We got to dine on the patio and with the recent fall temps it was perfect!

Yelp
Overall this is a nice restaurant. I ordered the ribeye with twice backed potatoes, medium. My wife ordered the scallops skewer and a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was fine, and scallops were great as was the twice baked potato. Though I ordered the ribeye medium, I received the strip, medium-well at best (absolute gray on the ends). I would have obviously preferred to receive what I ordered, but all of our food had arrived so I went with it. Overall, it was seasoned decently, just very overdone for my taste. Admittedly, I like a steak somewhere between medium-rare and medium, but last time I ordered medium-rare it was blue, so I tried medium. The server was a bit flighty ( but she was a nice person). I think they had given her 4-6 tables which is tough at any restaurant, especially one like this. It wasn't a tremendously awful experience, but one would expect more for the money in this case. Edit was for grammatical errors...

Yelp
Went here on a Wednesday and the jazz music was EXCELLENT! I was impressed with the wait staff and how informed they were on each item available. The drinks were very presentable. The lump crab dip was a must have.

Yelp
Soooo good. What a great way to spend Valentine's Day. We sat at the bar and were treated like royalty. The owner checked on us a few times. My favorite chef Anders, was on point as always. This place is going to do so well. The food is absolutely delicious. Cocktails fun and creative. Brunch is also delicious. They have outdoor and indoor seating.

Yelp
It took me far too long to try sage and salt. We've raved about this meal since and I think about that burrata regularly. I have the shrimp pasta, and it was absolutely delicious. My husband loved the different skewers so he had a lot of variety.

Yelp
What a great experience we had, the service was amazing. The apps we ordered were delicious and the drinks sooo good. We got to sit in their patio and it was such a great time!

Yelp
Honestly, if you know good food - save your money and go elsewhere. Where to start... The drinks are overpriced and nominally deliver. Too many ingredients and they are trying too hard to sound creative for very high prices and while they are decent, they are not profound. Certainly not for the price point. Next, the apps - granted, we only had 2 but they were ok. The yellowfin 'tower' was 5 pieces of tuna and although the ingredients sounded interesting, the taste was meh at best. The lump crab & artichoke dip was underwhelming - no distinct crab or artichoke taste. Honestly, the Trader Joe's artichoke dip is far more interesting. Now on to the entrees - I had the lamb, my wife had the scallops - our adult children had shrimp primavera and chicken. Apparently the chicken was good, but the rest was not only nothing to return for but honestly they were frankly not good. The lamb was chewy and charred - I tasted more char than lamb. The primavera was watery and tasteless. The scallops were underdone and no discernible flavor. Certainly none worth what they are charging. To add insult to injury, at these prices they have the audacity to charge a 3% charge for using a credit card. The service was fine but honestly for these prices and this food, do yourself a favor and save yourself and extra $200 and go somewhere else.

Yelp
An excellent dining spot in downtown Winston Salem. We stopped in for a weekday lunch and had no problem parking in the lot out front. Seated at a table near the magnificent bar, we could see both lovely drinks being poured, in addition to the connected open kitchen in the back. Really a pleasant experience through and through. The lunch menu did not list the very popular Yellowfin Tuna Tower, but I decided to inquire nonetheless. Surprisingly, our friendly server stated that she could have it made up regardless. It did not disappoint. The perfectly seared tuna melts in your mouth. Accompanied by avocado, compressed cucumber and an exquisite dipping sauce, this dish is something everyone should experience at least once when coming here. The fried chicken sandwich and French dip both had perfectly cooked meat that was juicy and tasty. The shaved prime cut ribeye is delicious! Can't wait to try the large and comfortable patio on a warm day. Many items on the lunch and dinner menus will bring us back for sure.

Yelp
Beautiful unique upscale restaurant nestled in downtown Winston-Salem. Without a reservation since I was solo, I was able to snag a seat at the bar which was extra cool because it was like you're emerged in an episode of Master Chef due to the open kitchen concept. Great service at the bar as well. Being 5 months pregnant, most non-alcoholic options are super citrusy or boring. Not here. Had the most wonderful Chai Latte Martini NA drink. The warm crab dip appetizer was cheesy and delicious. The beet salad was a miss for me, pretty plain tasting considering all the ingredients. Would recommend if in the area and seeking fine dining.

Yelp
Charging $10 for splitting a meal is ridiculous. 3 subpar meals and one appetizer (we all got water) came out to be 190 dollars without tip. The other issue was the fact that there was a 3% fee for using a credit card. Absurd. We remarked on the fact that we had eaten at restaurants 10x more nice than that and never did they charge us for splitting a meal. The service was good but not amazing. Servers were nice but did not check up on us as much as other places do. We went on a Wednesday night and service was unexpectedly slow. The overall vibe of the place was nice and people seemed to be having a great time. We definitely were not unhappy, more-so just surprised. Overall, food was okay but way too pricey. Charging for splitting a meal is crazy.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. We went to Sage & Salt for a small birthday dinner and enjoyed it. I recommend the ribeye and oysters rockefeller both were cooked perfectly, paired with a Hawaiian bouquet drink it was delicious! They also had great parking to be close to downtown. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I had eaten at the old Willows Bistro many times so was excited to give the new Sage & Salt Bistro a try for my son's birthday. The experience did not disappoint. I deducted one star because the quality-to-price ratio was a bit off. Most notable on the positive side of the ledger was our server, Christopher (if the receipt is correct), who was very attentive and also patient with my sons who kept him on his toes with their particularities. Cocktails (Legal Drinking Sage and Big Smoke) were on point. My boys had the prime rib. One was closer to rare than medium rare in temperature. Still delicious but for $42/10 ounces, I want exact temperature. I had the monkfish special, which was as advertised by Christopher, but for $55 I expect to be blown away not merely satisfied. I'm looking forward to going back and ordering some entrees off the regular menu to find that value missing in this visit.

Yelp
First time at Sage and Salt. The restaurant opened up in November and they plan to expand. With that in mind please be sure to make a reservation!! We came at 7pm on a Saturday. Our waitress was Katie. Super sweet and attentive! Our crap artichoke dip was warm and wonderful. We both ordered a "smoke" cocktail which reminded me of a drink in Mexico. My daughter ordered half a chicken with Mac and cheese which was pretty good. The sauce was a bit strange but ok. I ordered the filet with the sauce on the side with garlic mashed potatoes. Delicious!! My husband ordered the special steak and lobster. It was covered with some sort of cream sauce. They actually under cooked it a lot and it was very rare so he couldn't finish it. We ordered chocolate cake for dessert. All in all the experience was a good one. We will be coming back. Hopefully when they expand because it is pretty tight in here. The atmosphere was good and everything was clean. Everything was tasty.

Yelp
A newer kid in the WS eating scene, but with an already excellent reputation that didn't disappoint. I came in for a date night and the service was spectacular. Our waitress answered all our questions and had solid recommendations for drinks. I decided on the ribeye with the twice baked potato for dinner. I consider myself picky when it comes to steak. Starting off, the presentation was lovely, my steak and appetizer were served in a simple uncomplicated that had everything on my plate at center stage... It looked great! Cutting it open I found it was a soft and juicy cut of meat. I do wish the steak had more of a sear on it, I thought the grill marks were great but the steak was missing the slight crunch that would take it over the moon. Temperature wise I had ordered my steak medium rare and received it medium, but I wasn't too concerned over this matter. Flavor wise, EXCELLENT! It was salted perfectly and that umami flavors were deliciously evident! I would definitely order this again, but I offer my opinion on this steak hoping the restaurant will consider them going forward! As for the twice baked potato, it's a great side dish. Cheesy, and topped with thick bacon lardons. I thought the thicker pieces of chives on top would throw me off but they actually worked very well. If I could add something to this, I would sprinkle the dish with a dash of smoked sea salt or bake the potato in a smoky butter. Overall, I think this is an absolutely delicious spot for a date night! Reservations are definitely suggested and I know I for one look to return to this great restaurant.

Yelp
We visited Salt &Sage and ate on the back balcony. A few of the highlights included: great outdoor seating - front seating is in the sun until the sun is almost down, back is fully shaded, lots of easy parking, fabulous drink menu and lots of shareables. We enjoyed our bruschetta and bread service. I had the potato leek soup and it was good, very smooth but not much leek flavor. The flounder special looked good and my friend said it was good. My husband and friend had the steak and both said it had no flavor and was undercooked, almost cold in the center. They both chose the twice baked potatoes as their side and said it was just ok, very salty. I had a side of grilled asparagus and can say honestly it was incredible and everyone agreed it was probably the best thing we ate. We finished by sharing the blueberry ice cream which had a slight chemical flavor and was quite underwhelming. I would come back for a cocktail and snack, but would skip dinner in the future. One of only a few places with outdoor patios, which was perfect for an unusually cool late spring evening.

Yelp
We came here a little later and everything was still absolutely amazing, I suggest making a reservation to avoid a wait. (The wait was my fault because the other place we had reservations for was closed) we decided to sit outside because the weather was great and it felt more intimate. The food was cooked to perfection, it has been a while since I've had good lamb and they cooked it to a perfect medium-rare. My mom and husband both had the filets and stated that their steaks were also cooked to perfection. They have a massive wine list and a good amount of signature cocktails. The deserts my husband and I got were the perfect end to an amazing meal, I had the new York cheesecake and my husband had the sourcream pound cake. This place is pricey but in my opinion it was worth it. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Sage & Salt truly embraces fine dining here in our great city of Winston Salem. From the moment you step inside you can feel that you're in for a great meal. The menu is ever changing with their incredible weekly specials. They also have added on additional space for live music several times a week. You can't beat great food, a relaxing atmosphere, and live music!

Yelp
Very cute bistro. Everyone was friendly and service was great even with us coming so close to closing. The food was amazing! Absolutely loved the beef tartare and the Brussels sprouts! The ribeye was cooked well and was a great cut. The scallops were also great! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Wow! My wife has been seeing a lot of information online about Sage & Salt Bistro and noted this weekend was their first lunch service so we decided to make a reservation. Reservations can easily be made on Opentable. We also peaked at their lunch menu and were excited to try it. We didn't realize how close the restaurant is to Old Salem and the charming older neighborhood full of brick buildings and mature trees. We quickly realized the building is an old railroad depot building in which Sage & Salt occupies a portion of. They also have a large outdoor space which is nicely equipped with amenities such as flowers, candles and heaters. We stepped inside and were immediately impressed. We were greeted by a young man who took us to a small table. We learned that on this particular afternoon reservations weren't required, it was quiet at 3:30pm with just one other table seated. We anticipate as the word spreads they will quickly get busy and reservations would be a great idea, if not necessary. Jessica stopped by our table and introduced herself. She also took our drink orders, which for us this particular day only involved water. They do offer an extensive list of wine, beer and a full bar. My wife had seen others comment on the bread service as an appetizer, therefore, we ordered that as we looked over the menu. Jessica brought the bread by and we enjoyed the fresh sourdough and "good butter" the most, we didn't necessarily expect to love the Olive Tapenade and Chili Crisp, so next time we will just ask for bread and butter. My wife ordered the house salad with grilled chicken (no cheese) and I ordered the Sage & Salt burger and added cheddar cheese. I also requested the lettuce, tomato and pickle on the side with no mayo. I chose the "frites" as my side. Jessica was very helpful as we asked questions about the menu and she took very good care of us. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated and very clean. The kitchen area is visible from the dining room and looks to be very nicely equipped and organized. While we waited for our food, the dinner staff began to arrive and prepare. They were busy putting the candles out and double checking the tables. Our food arrived and looked delicious. I consider myself an expert when it comes to burgers and fries and let me tell you, both were really, really good. So much so that my wife said I moaned a bit as I began eating. It was obvious my burger was hand formed and thick. I encouraged my wife to try the fries and she agreed they were delicious. Maybe it is a better quality of oil but let me tell you my entire plate of food was delicious. My wife also commented on how fabulous her salad was. Everything was plated beautifully and was crisp and refreshing. The red wine vinagrette was impressive as well. We had a young woman stop by our table and she introduced herself as one of the managers. She commented that she felt our order took too long to arrive and apologized. She offered us a complimentary dessert for our time. We thought it was a very nice touch. Not necessary, but appreciated. Jessica stopped in a bit later and brought the dessert menu to us. We decided on the apple tart. Wow...when Jessica brought it to us a few minutes later it was beautiful. The apples were arranged perfectly on the crust and there was a small scoop of ice cream. To say we enjoyed it is an understatement. Absolutely delicious. The prices are reasonable based on the quality and care that goes into the food. We would absolutely recommend to anyone who is looking for an exceptional experience. Wishing them all the very best!

Yelp
I have looked forward to dining at the new, upscale spot and today was just the right fit. This is an attractive place, inside and out. The interior is actually rather small, with a small bar that is also nice. There is a huge amount of comfortable looking outside seating on a long, narrow deck! I ordered the Potato Leek Soup ( cup is $6) to be followed by the Pork Schnitzel ($24). The cup of soup was on the table in about 10 minutes, and was rather large and beautifully plated. The soup was thick, creamy, and absolutely delicious. The Schnitzel was soon on the table, also large and also beautifully plated! It was lightly coated and perfectly cooked, with the accompanying Apple and Celery Root Salad adding a nice flavor and texture touch. The pork was plated on top of a light coating of Madeira Jus, which brought a bit of sweetness - the pork, salad and jus came together in flavor and texture. Megan was just perfect in taking care of me, she boxed the left overs for me, and suggested a beer when my choice wasn't available - this place will definitely be on my regular rotation! What a nice addition to the upscale culinary world of Winston. The only downside here is that the current lunch menu is much on the small side and they do not offer lunch specials. I would love to see them do this, maybe they could offer one lunch special that ran all week, hopefully something from their attractive dinner menu! Ambiance - 5 Service - 5 Food - 5 Value - 4.5

Yelp
Sage & Salt is a new restaurant in the former Willow's location with a former Willow's employee as the new co-owner. The kitchen appears to have had an update but I was a bit disappointed to see that the awkward layout of the tables and bar are the same. If you are looking for a private or intimate dining experience, this is not the place although the outdoor seating is quite charming in nice weather. We had a dinner reservation but our table was not ready so we went to the bar for a drink first. The bar overlooks the kitchen on one side and is on top of the main dining area on the other. It's a tight fit. We had planned to order the nightly Chilean sea bass special but it was sold out so I settled on the pan seared Scottish Salmon ($32) served with wild Rice, Turnips, Butternut Squash, Swiss Chard, Whole Grain Mustard Beurre Blanc. The server indicated that if didn't want the rice I could sub out any other side so I opted for asparagus. Unfortunately in doing so, I was only given salmon and asparagus. I would've just kept the rice if I had known the other vegetables would not also come with it. Salmon was cooked nicely and was tender and flaky. My date got the prime rib special ($40) with Brussels sprouts. The prime rib had a nice flavor but the texture was oddly chewy instead of tender. So overall we had great service, food was timely and cooked well. Just think it's a bit pricey for the casual ambiance and level of food.

Yelp
*I want to start by saying three stars is because it's only been open a month. I might come back in a few months hoping they get their flavors/seasoning/food sorted. If it was like this in 3-4 months I wouldn't return. Was super excited about a new place in Winston, especially one that has such fun menu items! We started with the bread service: this was the star, hands down. The 'good butter' was SO GOOD: whipped, creamy, salty - incredible. As a chili crisp obsessed human, I was excited to see it on the menu! Only note is have a bit more crisp in the crisp oil mix so it isn't all spicy oil. The olive tapenade was good: Kalamata olives I think. Very nice. My friend got the pasta and I had the gnudi. Her pasta was cooked well, but one meatball might (might?) have been under, and the rest, bland, one note. The pasta sauce had the spaghetti-oh sauce vibe. My gnudi (I was SO EXCITED TO SEE THIS!) was dense and bland - I'm not a 'salt at the table' kinda gal but I had to hit this with a fair amount of salt to get a flavor. Gnudi should be pillowy and not mochi like - and the butternut squash beurre blanc was flat and one note. The gremolada was nice, but not enough to balance the one sweet note from the beurre blanc. Dessert was a bummer too: squash ice cream sounded bomb! You know when you accidentally get the low fat ice cream and it's icy? This definitely suffered from that. I got the roasted plums and sage pavlova. Listen I LOVE PAVLOVA! Crunchy to soft, crisp to marshmallow. The plums were a bit grainy (?) and the pavlova was solid: like I stuck my fork in it and a shard cracked off. Taste was ok: not a lot of sage in the pavlova and also was a bit grainy. Ambiance was lovely: the place is beautiful. The owner (?) stopped by most of the tables around us and bar patrons (not by us) so that was a little odd. I will say the spotlight aside from the bread course was our server Camille S. An absolute gem, the sweetest and kindest server we have had in a long time! 10/10 for her, we actually said that she was the best part of the night (sorry good butter, you're a close second.)

Yelp
If I could give this restaurant 10 stars, I would. Granted, I've only eaten here twice, but the food, drinks, and atmosphere are just impeccable. Staff are always incredibly pleasant. You get what you pay for food-wise, and you simply cannot go wrong at Sage & Salt. The crab dib is a necessity if it's your first time. Filet mignon is the best steak I've ever had, hands down. I ordered it my first time and couldn't help but get it again. It was cooked perfectly, and I always get medium rare. Cocktails are top notch as well. Bourbon, delicious. Martinis, perfect, especially if you prefer them dirty. My partner and I ate outside both times we've been and lighting was not too bright, not too dark. Just a really wonderful dining experience. Sommelier was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable.

Yelp
I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional service and care provided by the team at Sage and Salt and The Station during our recent engagement celebration for our friends. From the moment we reached out to plan the event, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and ensure that every detail was thoughtfully attended to. The atmosphere you created was warm, inviting, and perfectly suited for such a joyous occasion. The service throughout the evening was impeccable. Their team was attentive, professional, and genuinely kind, making sure that we felt welcomed and cared for. The delicious food and beautifully crafted presentation added an extra touch of elegance that made the celebration even more memorable. Our friends couldn't stop talking about how wonderful everything was, and we owe that to the dedication and expertise of their team who helped us create an unforgettable experience, and for that, we are truly grateful. Please consider dining at either one of these establishments (can get all items from either side) You will not be disappointed. Thank you.

Yelp
Yevonne (sp?) was our waitress and she was Fantastic and Attentive. The app- Crab Artichoke Dip- Very Runny and oily; not dip consistency. My Flank Steak was very tasty and cooked to perfection, the asparagus was the tastiest I've ever had. Ribeye was great and cooked perfectly. Twice baked potatoes just ok. Strawberry Sorbet- Awesome Ice Cream- Awesome

Yelp
Ah'Kell was our waiter and his service is outstanding! Filet was amazing! Love the atmosphere!

Yelp
Hidden gem for sure. The best meal I've had in a while. Server Madi was really good. The bread appetizer is a must - the three dips it comes with are amazing (tomato type one, olive tapenade and the butter was amazing). Had the roasted chicken for meal and the flavors were spot on. Also got the twice baked potato that came in a cast iron skillet and it was really good. Other dishes my party got were the salmon and the chicken parm. They all loved theirs. The only downside of this place was because of the open kitchen we did get a little smoked out, but the meal being so great outweighed that factor. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
Standard and expected based on the reviews. The waiter tried to talk me out of getting an appetizer as my meal which was frustrating. I eat small meals and had not been feeling well leading to my choice for an appetizer meal. There is a better way to go about service. Otherwise the staff all seemed to have a flat affect. Nothing to really make me want to come back in the staff, the food or atmosphere. Note that you can ask for additional crackers to go with your cheese board. Clearly not enough for 4 people.

Yelp
My spouse and I went to Sage and Salt for an early Valentine's Day. Since this was our first trip we walked into the Station side. Both are so cozy and elegantly decorated. We sat at the bar. The staff were amazing and you can tell they know the menu well. The sommelier delivered our wine pick. He was very knowledgeable and friendly . The wines are very pricey. I was somewhat disappointed since there are so many less expensive wines that are a powerhouse wine. Sometimes you have to dig harder to find them but they are there. We had the oyster Rockefeller and prawns on a skewer. Both great choices. The scallops were cooked to perfection. I LOVED the friend artichoke!!!!!! Risotto was full of yummy mushrooms. My spouses had steak. My spouse, an old chef, commented on the "odd" cut of the meat. He said he had never seen a NY cut that way before. It was cooked as ordered, Medium, in the middle but all around it was medium well. All and all it was a great experience. We will come back

Yelp
We went for a birthday celebration. We made a reservation one week in advance. We were seated next to the door to the kitchen, which was noisy, and busy. The layout is awkward as tables, booths and the bar compete for space. As others have stated the menu is pricey and had a limited selection of large plates. I ended up having a burger, while two others had pasta with kale pasta and pasta with meatballs respectfully, the other had appetizers only. We all agreed that the food was ok. Our server, Camille, was excellent. She was engaging and personable while still being professional. Lastly, the expanded wine list is on a computer pad, which we found to be difficult to use.

Yelp
Located in the old willows bistro location. S&S is a nice addition to downtown fine dining. I say fine as it is not a cheap place to go! Having said that the food we had was really good. A nice bar menu and a huge wine by the bottle list and a nice variety by the glass too. I liked the cocktail list. They have changed up the interior since willows , I actually like it better as it seems less cramped. I loved our table over the side so you could see the rest of the place. Also still have their lovely outdoor summer seating. Our server Jordan was really good and sweet. We had the bread service as our appetizer, with three varieties, multigrain, sourdough and a roll, with butter, olive tapenade and chili crunch oil, this was a nice start. I had the Negroni rouge, also a nice dipping drink. My friend had the mocktail, non social, also she said really nice and great tea flavor. I chose the appetizer yellowfin tuna tower as my main, with some fries. Both were delicious. The tuna was perfectly rare, with a nice soy wasabi, presented beautifully, I loved the cucumber and daikon. The crunch of the puffed rice was a nice touch. The fries were the twice battered kind, nice and crunchy! My friend had the fish special. The Chilean sea bass, which came on a bed of forbidden rice. Loved the onion petal ! Again beautiful presentation. The sea bass melted in your mouth. The rice had a black bean kinda taste and texture. Paired well together. This was market price, and not cheap. I would always ask how much! The food was great though. I'm glad I tried it out. I like the feel of the place is better than willows, and it is high quality. Great place for a special occasion. Staff were all really great and I always love a downtown restaurant with parking !
