We visited for an early Thanksgiving celebration. The food was incredible. The best meal we've had in years! We started with roasted brussell sprouts and escargo. Plenty to share and delicious! For our mains we had the trout (their specialty) and the BBQ pork chop. Both were amazing! 👏 Since the mac 'n cheese had good reviews we had a side of it. The mac 'n cheese is very tasty, but is very large. Even with a party of 3 we had to box it up. The desserts menu is very tempting, so we ended up sharing the caramel and apple cheesecake. Wow! So good! If you haven't been here, you need to! We don't live in Tally, but we will definitely be back!! Thank you for making it a special night for us, Sage! We'll done!

Google
Friend recommended this restaurant, my mom and I went. Mom had the trout plate, it was swimming in brown butter and tasted like oil than butter. The flavor of the trout was drowned out by the brown butter as you can see in picture one. The mushrooms were amazing. I myself had the bbq pork chop, it was insanely delicious. It melted in my mouth, mom loved it too. The dessert was yummy, salted Carmel apple cider cheesecake. The waiter was very friendly and informative. He ran down the menu since we had many questions. The service was slow, each time we needed anything; refills, bread, the check took at least 5-10min It was a good experience, so is St.James in Thomasville.

Google
Wow the presentation is beautiful and full attention to detail. The flavor and texture is amazing. Pork chops macaroni and cheee, salmon chicken can’t go wrong. Right down to the bread. One of my top Tallahasee restaurants. A hidden gem !!! Chefs recipes are original, surprises your tongue with delights.

Google
I’ll start off by saying the service was terrific. Summer exhibited a high degree of attentiveness and courtesy. The food was a mixed bag. I started off with the pimento cheese which was extremely salty. However, the celery and carrots counteracted the salinity of the pimento cheese. So that ended up being a good dish. The flatbread was confusing because it was round like a pizza, but there wasn’t much depth in the flavors. Flatbreads are generally rectangular in shape. As for the shrimp burger, it was also excessively salty, but cooked decently. It came with a salad that was forgettable. They offered an up charge of $2 for fries which I found exorbitant since most restaurants generally give the fries without charge to accompany the burger. This is a place you visit for the ambience and service more than the food. If you’re looking for high-quality food, this place is a hard pass.

My husband surprised me and our daughter with dinner at Sage. He drove past and was curious so we stopped. It was on my list of places I wanted to try in a date night. We all were very underdressed to say the least. We arrived and they normally serve based on reservations and we did not have one. The host was so friendly and accommodating and sat us right away. The ambience was so nice and the server was also friendly and helpful in helping us make our selections. We had the deviled eggs appetizer and I had the pork chop and my husband the lamb chop and were exploding with flavor. Can’t wait to return for a date night!

Kiana S.

Google
The atmosphere was amazing, with very intimate dim lighting, and service was good. Our server was very knowledgeable about the options on the menu. The food, however, was not as good. The appetizers were pleasing; however, the main entrees lacked flavor and were not worth getting.

Jonathan A.

Google
Took forever - main complaint. Deviled eggs are not $3. Charcuterie board was cool - well presented and cool choices. The chicken in the STUFFED JOYCE FARMS CHICKEN BREAST had delicious sukotash, but the chicken was a bit dry. Wife didn't like the bathroom - no soap. Tap water - really? Fire this price, we expected better. One bathroom - miles!

Google
Great service and food. Had to go in pretty late but the service was still good despite being the last to leave.

Yelp
I've always aspired to be a "regular". You know, where you go somewhere often enough to have your favorite server or bartender that remembers you and your food/drink order? Sage is that place for us. We enjoy dining there for lunch and dinner, but our favorite "comfort date night" is a bistro table in the bar, Wagyu burgers, Steak Frites and martinis. The atmosphere is intimate, the food is decadent, and the cocktails are always on point. Juan is our regular server and he has the perfect rhythm for a Friday night. He's attentive yet gives you your space. Sage is the kind of place that feels like home because regardless of the time of day you visit, you always see someone you know. Whether it's a friendly face at the bar, or someone coming in for an event in the "back bar", Sage is a must for upscale Tallahassee dining. The price point is outstanding for the quality of your meal. The portions are hefty and we never leave hungry. The road construction in the Market St district has not deterred us from making our regular burger night. Do not let it stop you. Tip... The burgers are served in the bar only. If you crave their savory Wagyu burger be sure to reserve a seat in bar/bistro seating OR visit them on their new Burger Monday in the dining room. It looks like they have a great new Monday night burger special with a wine pairing.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Sage! We were a bit worried because we didn't have a reservation for our party of 4. In addition, we were first-timers, so we didn't know exactly what to expect. One of the people in our party thought that this was a farm-to-table restaurant, but they actually serve delicious New American cuisine, rooted in French techniques. There were a lot of delectable nods to French cuisine on the lunch menu such as soupe a l'oignon, oven-baked escargot. salade nicoise, quiche, and even croque monsieur! There's a cozy bar that serves craft cocktails and wine too. The somewhat intimate space gives one a true local, neighborhood feel. Our server needs a full salute! He made the best mojito that I've ever had. There was just something about the way he muddled that mint that made the drink worth the wait. And let me add, this drink was a mocktail. It was so delicious. I wish I had ordered two. He was also hospitable and made us feel at ease, especially after the funny surprise that this was not a farm-to-table styled restaurant. I enjoyed the salade nicoise with its olive oil poached yellow fin tuna, mixed lettuces, haricots verts, tomatoes, hard-cooked eggs, shaved red onion, olives, red potatoes, and lemon pepper dressing. It was perfect. I thought there would be a tuna filet but there was a scoop of minced tuna on the salad which made the salad easier to mix and enjoy. I appreciated that the haricots vert were tender. I would definitely return.

Yelp
What a fabulous restaurant! I had not been in a while, and despite some challenges finding it due to construction nearby, it was such a lovely event with a group of about 20 people. The food was phenomenal. I had the onion soup in a vegetarian broth, and it was delicious. I also had a salad with beets and a crabcake. People in my group ordered everything possible from the menu, and there was not one single complaint. Everyone loved it! I finished my lunch off with a wonderful caramel crème brûlée. The service was excellent as was the ambience. I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Passing thru Tallahassee, decided to give Sage a try because the menu looked amazing. My goodness, we are glad we did!! My wife had the salmon - and it was perfect. I had the Mongolian pork chop - and I say this with complete confidence: it's the best pork chop I've ever had in my life. Perfectly prepared, tender, most and simply delicious! We also ordered the incredible Mac & Cheese - which is enough for 4-5 people to share; we barely put a dent in it! Finally, we enjoyed their bread pudding for dessert- and we enjoyed it as well. It wasn't overpoweringly sweet - which sometimes happens with bread pudding - and it was therefore the perfect dessert after a big meal. Service was also outstanding- we sure hope to return in the future when in Tallahassee.

Zach F.

Yelp
The service and cocktails were exceptional, but the food was underwhelming for the price- average flavors and portions that didn't justify the premium. Because of that, I wouldn't recommend Sage unless you're going just for drinks.

Valerie E.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Sage last night for my birthday and had the most amazing experience. Our server Sarah was wonderful and the service was perfect. The manager Christian got a list of the ingredients from the Special of the night for my husband who wanted to try to make part of the dish again at home. And the food? well... absolutely out of this world! As mentioned, we both had the Special of the night and it was totally amazing. The Chefs Chris, Nate and Bailey are so brilliant and talented. We loved our evening there and hope to be able to go back soon!

Yelp
I tried this place on a whim with a friend while we were in town for 48 hours and decided on it from others' Yelp reviews, I am so glad we did. I cannot rave enough from the ambience when you walk into the smoky wood smell to the friendly staff to the exquisite food -do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a Sage dinner! Though we didn't have a reservation, they still managed to welcome us with sweet Southern hospitality. A quick glass of delicious wine at the bar and they found space for us at a comfy table for dinner. Started with the crabcakes and deviled eggs, (no filler), and our server was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The deviled eggs were also exquisite! We both decided on the fish as they are known for their seafood, I had the snapper which was a delight to the pallet, and my friend had the salmon which he absolutely loved. We split a bottle of the Russian River Valley, Chardonnay, and thoroughly enjoyed our cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake desserts. I cannot tell you what a wonderful experience this was, I can only recommend that you try it for yourself.

Yelp
Never been at dinner so I was forced to try new things!!! Some gold and some eh. I'm just glad they allowed me in because I came after a day of checking out four springs and was dressed beach casual at best so thank you for that lol!!! OF COURSe I had to have the French onion soup. Which was delish as always!!! Tried a salad with beets. Now I hate beets. I have had them 1 million different ways and no matter what, I just don't like them, but these were absolutely delicious!!! I also got a side of the brussels sprouts, which was divine and I over ordered and got a side of basmati rice. It was dry and not tasty at all. I had the brownie, which was also dry and idk not choclately. My only disappointments of the eve. Service and everything else good!!!

Yelp
This place is only receiving a 4 because we had to wait at lunch 3 top for 45 minutes. Server was quiet, but friendly. The bartender actually sold us on what to order (where we waited on a table bc there were three of us we couldn't order there either the couple and single person who came in sat at the bar and ordered). The shrimp burger was the stand out. The chicken sandwich was a close second. Highly recommend! Make sure you have a reservation.

Yelp
By far the best restaurant in Tally, the exceptional entrees and apps, along with the ambiance, the chef, bartenders, and all that comes with the Sage experience is a Tally local favorite! The food is perfection no matter what you order. Always the best and never disappointed. - Lauren Barnard

Yelp
So disappointed. Comfortable and classic restaurant let us down this time. The service was excellent. Immediately seated with reservation. The experienced mature male waiter was a pro. As good as they come. The escargot were beyond garlicky. Really over the top into unpleasant. Want them? Order at Giorgio's. The x-large scallop sized crab cakes were meaty and good. Nicely accompanied by a lightly pickled green beans and red onions. Savory sauce. The steak frites were a mixed bad. The steak was a nice size, perfectly cooked rare 1/2 strip, and thickly sliced, topped with garlic butter. It was doused in heavy salt. Once I cut off the top of the steak I enjoyed it. The plate was overloaded with slightly greasy nearly cold French fries. They were placed on top of and fully covered the small arugula shiitake salad. 1/2 would have been more than enough. Frankly they should have been discarded and a fresh batch cooked to order. They overwhelmed everything but the salt. My friend's salmon was cooked perfectly medium and he was happy. He had the same shocked reaction to the escargot. Might try a soup and sandwich next time.

Yelp
Visiting from out of state. Highly recommend but very disappointed! Food service was slow and food was tasteless! Not enough help Im thinking. Oh well

Yelp
Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Glad I was able to stop by and try this spot during my time in FL. If you get there before the kitchen opens, order the American Wagyu Burger, it will change your life. Can't say enough about the service and the attention from the staff there. Come check it out, their bar selection is incredible as well! Definitely will be coming back to this place.

Yelp
The yellow fin tuna was so smooth did not need a knife to cut through all of the different flavors blended together perfectly. The service was great and my cup was never empty. It was a laid back ambiance. Great for a celebration.
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
The food here is among the best in Tallahassee. We made a reservation online and had no wait time at all. Service was great! I got the pork chop, my fiancée got the yellowfin tuna, we also got escargot and mussels as appetizers. Great way to celebrate our engagement! On a busy night, this place is very busy so plan ahead.

Yelp
Only been a couple of times for lunch. Reasonably priced with a good amount of interesting menu choices. Had a fish sandwich and the burger. Both excellent. My wife had quiche. Loved it! Light and yummy. Friendly and attentive service. Clean. Go!!!

Yelp
Service and atmosphere is great. One of the more extensive bourbon offerings I've seen at a bar that is well priced. Apps were great had crab cake, oysters and escargot. Trout Almandine was plentiful but maybe overly topped with sliced almonds. Will be back if in the area.
google avatar

Kathy Katie M.

Yelp
Food was superb and our waiter so attentive! They have our small group a nice private booth.

Yelp
The food was great. I enjoyed the smoked & grilled duck breast. Surprisingly varied in flavor and texture. The dining room was loud and felt crowded. It would benefit from some curtains or acoustic dampening. Conversation with my dining party was hard to follow. The front of house staff did not know the menu & specials. One member of my party requested a dish be served without Kale and the waiter failed to communicate this to the back of house (or failed to communicate to us that it was not possible). All in all, Sage is presenting and pricing itself as a high end dining establishment, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. My impression was that the chef is talented but lacks managerial or executive skills to run an entire restaurant.

Chloe B.

Yelp
Sage in Tallahassee is consistently fantastic. The best service in town. It's just a genuinely great dining experience all around. Highly recommend!

Victoria H.

Yelp
We love Sage!! The food is consistently top tier and the staff is phenomenal. Sage is a Tallahassee gem that we know will always be wonderful. Get the escargot!!

Amber M.

Yelp
It was amazing got the coffee rubbed steak special, which was topped with several vegetables. Steak was tender and quite flavorful. we got the chocolate torte for dessert, warm and light. Sara our server was so fun! Thank you

Yelp
I am so disappointed in myself for not coming here sooner...what an absolute gem of a restaurant! Headed here for a late lunch and was immediately seated. From overhearing other customers though, making a reservation is your best bet to ensure getting seating. It's super cozy inside with the cutest little patio surrounded by foliage. The food is AMAZING! They were out of tuna and the onion soup (imagine my disappointment), so I opted for the trout and the tomato bisque. Did not regret it! The soup has blue cheese (in case you aren't a fan of that). The trout plate is not for the large eater. The salmon burger is delicious and is a bigger entree. Side note: no kids menu. After much persuasion, my toddler enjoyed the tomato bisque. Our server, Kate R, had such great customer service skills. She made our experience extremely pleasant! Definitely a place worth trying.

Jessica R.

Yelp
The atmosphere looked great but it was too loud and busy. The bar was great, they knew what they were doing. The burger was great too. A few areas that left us wanting more; the Caesar salad, I understand the dressing is made with anchovies but it was extremely off putting having 3-4 slimy anchovies sitting on top of the salad. If they were fried in batter it would have been much more enjoyable than an unexpected bite of slimy fish that seeped a fishy flavor on the top of the salad. This element left the salad feeling drab. Secondly, the bar tender told us we made a great choice in choosing the fries and that we would not be disappointed, we were so hungry from traveling and were looking forward to a fresh, Crunchy, hot flavorful bite. They fries were anything but tasty. They were lukewarm warm, soggy, and lacked salt. Any chef knows that salt is the beginning of layering flavor. Lastly, every element lacked vinegar, citrus, and salt. Just a pinch of brightness would have elevated the raw goodness of each dish. Great potential but as the Exec Chef/owner I highly recommend looking over every element of each dish and perfecting the ingredients focusing on texture and unique flavor.

Yelp
Dave and I were leaving Perry Florida and looking for a breakfast place. The area was very remote and it wasn't until we hit Tallahassee, that we found Sage. It was around eleven and all the outside seating was taken, so we opted for the bar where it was only us. A beautiful wooded restaurant with great service and good food. Dave had the crab cake appetizer, sautéed with slaw. Delish! I had the trout almandine. A piece of trout sautéed to perfection atop of French green beans and roasted baby potatoes. There was a crispy almond mixture with mushrooms on top of the trout. It was very good and had lemons slices on the plate. Masks are mandatory upon entering this restaurant. All staff were masked. I'm glad we found this little treasure along our journey. We love supporting our local community restaurants!

Yelp
I am obsessed with Sage! Huge Fan for life after my first experience tonight. I had the pleasure of eating the Parisienne Gnocchi, Tuna Crudo, Caramelized Sea Scallops and Gulf Shrimp, Cellentani in Summer Pesto, and Mille-Feuille. For cocktails, I enjoyed an old fashion and the St George Blues! Both were yummy and beautiful. I do not even know where to begin when talking about the food. It was mind-blowing how the chef took your mouth on a vacation. The Parisienne Gnocchi was perfectly cooked and the sauce was so tasty I was scrapping the bowl to get every drop of its goodness. The Caramelized Sea Scallops and Gulf Shrimp were cooked perfectly. The crimini mushrooms and tomatoes were amazing in the Tasso gravy with the grits. In. Cre. Di. Ble! They were my two favorites. Everything was just so wonderful the passion fruit sorbet was an adventure for your mouth with the Mille-Feuille. What a way to end an already outstanding meal! Everything from the incredible wait staff to the food to the atmosphere made for a perfect evening out. I will most definitely be back to enjoy more.

Haley J.

Yelp
always a 5 star visit with Sage and why I keep coming back! best service, best food (and rotating menu too!), their bar area is the best.
google avatar

Wendy A.

Yelp
This place delivered. I tasted the freshness of the food. My sister and I enjoyed a shrimp and scallop entree with creamed blue corn and paired it with the Brussels and cauliflower au gratin. We each started with their soup!! Chefs kiss for food, service outstanding and Ambience fresh and inviting. Definitely recommend the whole experience to anyone looking for a nicer more seasonal menu and more upscale spread. Pro Tip Make a reservation on Resy.com. This place fills up fast on weekends particularly.

Amy D.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food. Went for a Birthday Celebration and they did not disappoint! Definitely one of Tallahassee's finest.

Yelp
Was in Tallahassee to visit a friend and stopped here. We were seated right away and our waitress came to serve us quickly. We started with a round of wine and cocktails. They had a good selection of both. The environment was cute but cleared out pretty early from what I'm used to. The food was good but a little overpriced for what it was. I had the scallops and shrimp which was their version of shrimp and grits. The seafood was cooked perfectly.
google avatar

Kristi C.

Yelp
Always a great experience here. Just had to update pics from my visit last week. Might have been the best mushroom soup I've ever tasted! Service great as well!

Yelp
Sage is my latest local restaurant obsession. I love sitting at the bar and I love appetizers and Sage has both on point. The bar area is small but I don't mind that. I am working my way through the menu and haven't had anything bad yet. It is a little pricey but worth the price. Drinks are also excellent. Highly recommend.

Shelley P.

Yelp
Yummy! Great service , escargot were delectable. I had the shrimp and scallops very enticing
google avatar

Krystle M.

Yelp
Sage was most of what I hoped it would be! Apart from the minor error of the candied walnuts being omitted from my salad, I would definitely recommend Sage to anyone looking for a memorable time at a delicious, unique restaurant! The crab cakes as a starter were highly recommended and we found them to be good...but not the best we'd ever tasted...at least not for the steep price of $15. In any event, Sage's chef's specials are where it's at! We both enjoyed our entrees immensely and delighted in savoring a bottle of red wine which we felt was reasonably priced. I will definitely return to Sage when hosting more out of town visitors!

Yelp
* Note: It's a Tallahassee 5 star, not like the best place I've been to or my favorite place ever.. I really like Sage! It's one of the few places that I don't mind eating out at in Tallahassee. Sage is very consistent (although not an adventurous menu choice or a lot of changes in the menu items) with the food quality& they don't oversalt their dishes. I have never ate here anything that was overcooked or poorly seasoned or executed. (Which often happens at other places in town..) I like their lunch menu better than dinner, and I'm so happy it's back (after a few years of Covid slow-down and changes). Onion soup is always good..their oysters are good (I'd eat them although I am not a huge fan of oyster). Good potato chips to share, good sandwiches for lunch. Lovely beet salad with perfectly candied pecans..it's a bit noisy, but not as noisy as some of the other places in town. Price is reasonable considering the inflation and other places in town. Nice patio and bar area. Service can be tad slow, but it's like that everywhere these days. P. S. My friend (recently moved to town, originally from New Orleans/ lived a while in Boston, a serious eater) who was with me at lunch a few days ago was pleased with this place..after feeling somewhat dissatisfied at other recommended restaurants.:)

Yelp
Delicious food. Very pet friendly. Say outside with our pup and had two other dogs at nearby tables. A little slow getting our food. Slow pace.

Beth W.

Yelp
We enjoyed a meal here Thursday evening to celebrate FSU graduation and we were treated to an amazing experience. From the start with our reservation, where Ashley accommodated our requests and offered a recommendation of her favorite dishes, to our excellent service by Jason who demonstrated exceptional knowledge of the menu and guided us each to selecting our delicious choices. We hope to return for another excellent experience. Not to be missed if in Tallahassee.

Tammy N.

Yelp
My husband and I love coming here because the food is good and the ambiance is beautiful. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
They get an extra star for the greeting and service, otherwise it was a disappointment. Today for lunch, I ordered the French Onion soup ( SOUPE À L'OIGNON) because I remember how wonderful it was last time that I had it. Not this time. A short time later I placed my lunch order of trout almandine (RAINBOW TROUT AMANDINE). On my last review here, I praised it highly! Not this time. The soup was cheesy but the broth was not flavorful as it once was. Gone was the rich beef stock flavor. The broth did not have the sweetness of the onions, and in fact, tasted bitter. I could not figure out how to turn onion soup bitter. My lunch order came out right after my soup. I was disappointed that there was not better timing as I wanted to "dine" even though I was alone. There was not a line of people waiting because I would have been cognizant of that. The trout was presented on a bed of potatoes with mushrooms. However, the very generous topping of almonds were burned to the point of not being edible. There were a few that were not burned but not many. Personally, if I were the chef cooking those, I would have thrown them out. The charred taste was very off putting. I want to continue to support local establishments but it will be a while before I return. I won't give up on them. My next stop was Bradley's Country store and ended up ordering a sausage dog because I was still hungry.

Yelp
Nothing in Tallahassee compares to Sage. Last night, my wife and I had reservations for the patio as indoor dining was already booked. Then came the rain. The hostess called to warn us that the patio wasn't available and the bar area was first-come. We took our chances and I'm so glad that we did. Upon our arrival, the hostess greeted us and explained that a table had become available and we were seated immediately. Our waiter, Matthew, was outstanding. We started with escargot and fried oyster appetizers. Both were delicious. The escargot were lightly seasoned and had small slices of mushrooms in butter, oil and soft cheese. The oysters had thick, but very light batter and were accompanied by thin slices of daicon radishes. Both appetizers were well-presented and delicious. For our entrees, my wife enjoyed cobia with beans and fennel. I had an unbelievably tender 8oz filet mignon cooked rare and accompanied by bacon-wrapped asparagus. The seared crust on the steak was a perfect companion for the tender, red meat. For dessert, I enjoyed an ice cream bar made on premises with sweet vanilla ice cream and thin, chocolate cookies. My wife had the richest chocolate truffle torte. We had a bottle of moderately-priced Bordeaux. Including tip the total was slightly more than $300. We will definitely come back!

Yelp
I have been to Sage twice in the past month and I regret not trying sage sooner. The first time I went was for dinner with my boyfriend, and the most recent was for brunch with my mom and boyfriend. For dinner my boyfriend and I started off with some escargot. He and I usually go to Little Paris for escargot, but I loved the escargot at Sage! It came out sizzling hot on a cast iron. The escargot had a delicious garlic parsley butter, roasted mushrooms, and some melted goat cheese. My only complaint here was that one of our slices of bread was a little stale and different from our others which I thought was weird. For entrees I got the Iron Seared Shrimp & Scallops and my boyfriend got the 12oz Prime New York Strip. I absolutely loved the pork cracklings garnish, they were definitely a wonderful touch. I think the scallops and shrimp were cooked perfectly. My boyfriend got the truffle mash and broccolini with his ny strip and I could have drank those mashed potatoes. His steak was cooked perfectly, although my bf claims he could have made a better steak. I disagree the steak was definitely better at sage haha. For dessert we got the guava tres leche cheesecake. I thought this was a wonderful concept, but unfortunately I could barely taste the guava. Growing up with Guava trees in your backyard and having guava everything it just lacked enough guava flavor. I still thought it was delicious and I loved the tres leche. To drink at dinner my boyfriend and I both got wine. I wish restaurants put on the menu how many ounces the pour was so you know what to expect. The pour seemed like 4 maybe 5 ounces and I am used to most restaurants in town doing 6 ounces. Although I did love the wine selection! Service was amazing for both dinner and brunch cannot complain. The décor inside is definitely interesting for a fine dining restaurant. I also thought the glass top on top of the white table cloths was a bit of a turn off, but I guess it makes it easier to clean.

Yelp
Our family has been going to Sage since they opened and we live in the neighborhood, so it has been exciting to see Sage expand over the years. This is possible because they have consistently served wonderfully tasty and creative dishes. That being said, enter our Mother's Day celebration this evening. We requested in our reservations for our party to be sat on the patio outside. When we were seated at the table at the back of the patio, we noticed several flies around our table. We ignored them at first. After several minutes, we noticed more. When I turned to look at the party of four sitting next to us, the man with his back to me had 5-6 flies on his back and arms (but thankfully didn't realize it). This continued throughout the evening, but we decided it best to just push through and not complain. I defended our table from a whole host of flies throughout our meal. Thankfully, our food was fantastic as usual and our service was great. The only major food issue (interestingly enough echoing a similar post from this evening!) was the portion size on the salmon. It was noticeably small. We ordered it because of seeing a substantial portion presented to another table. However, the portion we got was not even the size of a deck of cards. It paled in comparison to the stuffed rainbow trout and NY strip special we also ordered, which were perfectly sized portions and amazingly delicious. The deviled eggs, fish dip and oyster platter were also wonderful. Back to "Salmon-gate". We asked our server to check with the kitchen about it. She quickly informed us they would prepare another piece, which should have fixed the problem. Instead, we were presented with a second piece that was smaller than the original piece. I have to say I was shocked that this chance to fix this situation was fumbled so badly. All I can imagine is that they were running out of salmon. Instead of not serving it, they tried to cut portions. In all of my visits to Sage, I have never encountered this before. I hope I'm not being unfair. My family and I truly love Sage and have for many, many years. This is one of Tallahassee's finest restaurants and we will be back. But with great power comes great responsibility. First, the fly problem was hopefully a one-time thing but if not, work to fix this issue. Second, the kitchen should never send out anything it knows to be less than their normal standard of excellence they have always maintained over the years. And when someone points out a legitimate mistake, they should go overboard to correct it.

Yelp
I have heard wonderful things about Sage so much husband and I decided to have brunch there yesterday for our Anniversary. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our waiter was very attentive and came right over to give us water and take out drink orders. We knew right away we wanted the truffle chips because of the reviews so we put in the order as soon as we sat. The chips came out fast and they were so good! Definitely lived up to the hype. I ordered the Bananas Foster Dutch pancake and my husband got the Croque Monsieur. He really liked his sandwich and said he would get it again. Unfortunately I could not say the same for my Dutch baby pancake. It was so salty! I have a big salt tolerance, if anything I over season, but this was like someone mislabeled the salt and sugar. I couldn't eat it. I was horribly disappointed because where I grew up there were a bunch of places who made Dutch pancakes and I missed having them and hoped this could be my new place. To make sure it wasn't just me I took it home to my daughter who spit it out and said she was glad we didn't invite her to go if that's what the food tastes like. The service was outstanding. Truthfully one of the best dining experiences we have had in Tallahassee as far as service. Because of that I cannot give it less then 3 stars. It is a place I would go back to, but not run back or even recommend. I'm disappointed we wasted our Anniversary meal here.

Yelp
Food was delicious and executed so well in so many ways! Everything came in a shockingly prompt fashion and made perfectly. We got the escargot, lamb shank and redfish. The escargot was amazing. The lamb practically fell off the bone. The redfish was super flakey. Flavors were delicious with all dishes. We also got the dark chocolate and sour cherry sorbet for dessert and it reminded me of Godiva truffles except better and in ice cream / sorbet form. So much deliciousness! Service was beyond amazing. Everyone was polite, positive and attentive. When someone sees something, they do something. While we were primarily taken care of by our waitress Mackenzie, other servers walking by would clear our dishes and refill water. Super client centric! Mackenzie was also very personable and chatted with us a bit and provided recommendations while going over the menu. She was also so timely on checking in on how the appetizer, entree and dessert was. I'm also amazed by how quickly food came. The food prep and execution must be top notch! We arrived about 10 minutes after opening and was seated immediately. By the time we left in 40 minutes, it was mostly filled. I highly recommend coming here for awesome food and experience!

Yelp
I was excited to try the brunch at Sage. It was really crowded because of graduation weekend, but we got a spot in the corner so we had a little space. My friend started out with the deviled eggs. I wanted to taste it but it was so small...but she seemed to enjoy it. I got the fried oysters. It was really good! There was a Thai (?) style sauce and kimchee under each oyster. I think this is my favorite part of the meal. For our meals, my friend got the fine herbs omelette with king crab and lobster. It was huge and looked tasty. I ordered the crab cake Benedict. It was good, but I thought the hollandaise was too thin and I thought Benedict's came with an English muffin on the bottom, or some kind of bread. Speaking of bread, the waiter offered bread but then never brought any! Also I ordered a pineapple juice and it never came. Finally, I told him i can't eat tomatoes and asked about tomatoes in the meal. He put the creole tomato sauce from the Benedict on the side, but the veggie medley on the side had lots of tomatoes. I wasn't pushy about any of it, though it was disappointing. For dessert, my friend got an amazing tres leches cheesecake with a salted caramel topping. I was full but couldn't resist the brown butter snickerdoodle, which was warm and delicious! I'll try Sage again, maybe when it's not so crowded.

Yelp
My coworkers and I went for lunch today. The staff were so friendly and the food was amazing. We had the deviled eggs has an appetizer. The beet and orange salad was absolutely yummy and lastly the salmon and potatoes were delicious. You should definitely check them out.

Yelp
I enjoyed my first visit to Sage. I found it cute and quaint once I finally found the restaurant. It's kind of a hidden gem if you ask me. I had the fried eggplant sandwich with fries and it was so good. The staff was pleasant and the time it took to place and take our orders was great considering it was graduation weekend. My only issue was when the waiter who was also bar tending handed us our paper wrapper-less straws with his bare hands like we aren't in the middle of a pandemic. Other than that I definitely want to go again. Maybe for dinner and try the dessert. I hear the pound cake is top notch!

Yelp
We came here on a Wednesday evening without a reservation for 6 people. We are from out of town and here for a funeral and we are so thankful they could seat us. They only had space on the patio outside but the weather was nice and we were happy. Our waiter was Peter if I remember correctly and he was very nice. I ordered the Fricassee of Wild Mushroom & Spring Vegetables and hubby ordered the Pan-Roasted Catch of the Day which was red fish. We also ordered a side to split of the Roasted Brussels Sprouts. Wifey - mine was delicious. It had braised fennel, midland creamer peas, cipollini onion and risotto croquettes. It was all in a sauce. My only complaint was that the risotto cakes didn't have a lot of flavor. Hubby - he loved his as well. It had a midland creamer pea ragout, summer squash, tomato, marinated cucumber & crispy carrot herb salad. It had a swirl of some sauce that he loved but we aren't sure what it was. Our favorite was the Brussels sprouts. It was very charred and flavorful. It had huge chunks of bacon that were to die for. I had Pinot Gris from Oregon that was recommended and hubby had the Keeneland Thoroughbred which was bourbon, strawberry and peppercorn shrub, lemon juice, simple syrup and rhubarb bitters. He LOVED it! Another couple got the Petite Plateau which served 2-4 and had lobster, shrimp, tuna crudo, oysters and crab dip? Not sure on that last part but they loved it all. The last couple got an order of Old Bay Cocktail Shrimp, Pomme Frites and Almond Crusted Fried Quail. They loved theirs as well. We opted not to do dessert since we were all so full. If hubby and I are back in this area we would definitely come back. We would probably do a combo of sides and appetizers though as there was a gnocchi app that we both would have loved. This would have hopefully saved us room for dessert!

Yelp
Went to lunch with my daughter; though there was no one at the hostess table, the guy at the bar was nice enough to let us know that someone would be right with us; certainly appreciated that; we chose to sit outside; lovely, serene area; though it was a bit warm outside, there was a big fan that provided a good breeze; tables places in a socially distanced manner; waitress was very nice; I ordered a slice of quiche (mushrooms, red peppers, potatoes, goat cheese) and a salad; my daughter had the croque monsier (ham on toasted sourdough bun with melted cheese) with fries and a salad; we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere; only drawback was fighting off the pesky flies - comes with the territory! :o(
