"Sheltered from St-Malo’s tourist hordes in a district popular with the locals, this handsome contemporary restaurant sports a decor of organic curves, Fornasetti tableware and pendant lights by Tom Dixon. Chef Luc Mobihan, a wizard when it comes to fish, seafood and regional veggies, boasts stints at the Château de la Chenevière (Port-en-Bessin) and at the Amphitryon (Lorient), where he was the second to Jean-Paul Abadie. He conjures up enticing cuisine in the zeitgeist, such as seared scallops, chutney of confit turnips and Noilly Prat. Meanwhile, his wife Isabelle gives free rein to her love of table arts and her passion for fine wines (Champagne, Loire, Burgundy etc). Attentive service." - Michelin Inspector

When you visit a Michelin starred restaurant you expect to get delicious food, beautiful presentation and impeccable service. Unfortunately, Saint Placide failed in all 3 of them. We took the most extensive tasting menu and out of 11 dishes. Possibly 2 were good (the lobster and the meat dish at the end). The other 9 were between mediocre to nothing. Dishes were mostly tasteless (or way too salty), presentation was not appealing at all, nothing sophisticated about the dishes. When even the desert looked like a mousse of chocolate with granola (seriously?!?) and not even a good one... I wonder how you can ruin a desert in a country where pastries and sweets are incredible in any, around the corner, boulangerie even in the most remote towns in the country. Service was also below average. Definitely, not a fine dining experience. Menu only in French (even though 50% of customers were non-French speaking). The waitresses were mainly serving the food. Hardly, any interaction with the guests. Very brief explanation about the food and the general feeling is that they were just taking orders and making sure that you get your dish. Once they even confused us with another table and served us the same dish again (which again is not a big deal but still). Then you ask for water, just still water. You get their own filtered water, it costs 6 euros for 750 ml... ok, but then again - you serve yourself the water. So, we finished our glasses and then you would imagine that somebody would refill you water glass... eh eh not at Saint Placide. At a certain moment we even finished the water bottle and we had to ask for another bottle...Nobody even noticed that our glasses and bottle are empty. When I go to a regular restaurant I would be absolutely ok with that, but for a Michelin starred restaurant with a price tag of 500+ Euros for 2 people - we would expect something else. Overall, a mediocre experience, tasteless food, bad presentation, below average service. Completely overpriced. (More than 250 Euros per person).

Amazing experience at Saint-Placide! The dining room is beautiful and, even though full, the noise level was perfect. Service was quite thoughtful, friendly, and informative. The food was amazing. Each dish was beautifully presented, delicious and with a little surprise taste you didn't expect but enjoyed. Highly recommend, we loved it!

We had vegetarian course and seafood course. Every single dish was great, but especially the potato mille-feuille was perfect. I felt the vegetarian course special, so I still remember the dishes after couple of months.

Delicious food - however, only three stars for me as we were disappointed by the service. For example: - Our carafe of water was never refilled during the entire meal - We waited 20 mins to get our bill. We saw people from another table that also waited a while, and only got their bill after their son went to get one of the staff as they couldn’t get their attention otherwise - Other Michelin-starred restaurants we’ve tried in France offered an English translation of the menu, but here they have none. We asked the staff for help translating - during the meal they gave English descriptions for some but not all dishes. Consequently, non-French speakers may not enjoy the experience as much - Staff didn’t ask us how we found the meal. This may be a simple gesture but would still be appreciated as it shows concern for the customer experience It’s a shame because the food was good. It would have been a better experience if the staff were more attentive to the needs of the customers.

Headed in there for Christmas lunch and we had the menu gourmand. Absolutely gorgeous design as well as set quite peculiar. We started with the oyster and truffle paired with muscadet and to be honest not fun of it but the course itself was well structured and well presented then had foie gras with sauternes also well presented and balanced the only thing I didn't appreciate that there was some nerve leftovers into it . After that beautiful scallops with truffle Again I'd say mainly good and It went fantastically good with condrieu ,followed by hommard (longustine) with cauliflower and smoked sauce was fine. We ended up savoury with twist on club sandwich made with comte and guess what truffle again frankly I didn't mind but a bit boring. Dessert we had a chocolate mousse with cream and different texture of ingredients that played of good rule on the presentation but I didn't aspect the flavour that wasn't great. Great service by the way super polite and friendly. Fantastic wine list and anyway quite good value for money. I'd come back.

Delicious food, beautiful presentation and cosy atmosphere. We went for the lunch special and were not disappointed. The fish was cooked perfectly, the flavours well balanced and nicely complimented by the wine. The clam soup for amuse-bouche was very original. The service was excellent. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Not really worth the 120€ price. Half the main menu consisted of the cheapest meats you could buy at the grocery store; not sure if the chef was trying to prove cheap meat can be good (only 2 of the cheap meats were decent; not great, but palpable) or if they spent most of their budget on fancy spices. Service was amazing, though our table water was neglected on a few occasions. They also don't come around between courses to clean bread crumbs off your table, a basic chore you experience at non-Michelin rated restaurants. Do with this information what you must.

Yelp
This is an amazing restaurant in Brittany where the service is impeccable, the ambience chic and comfortable, and the food the most exquisite we had In four nights in Brittany. The restaurant would stand out anywhere. An ethereal evening!
