Meagan and Angela provided top tier customer service. The food was amazing also. We will definitely be back. 3/1 UPDATE- I was unable to give a new review. However, we visited the restaurant again and wanted to update my experience. This place is the best Ramen restaurant in town! The food is top tier, chef’s kiss! It’s something about their ramen that it extremely flavorful. The shrimp dumplings literally melt in your mouth, and the rock shrimp has an amazing flavor. Don’t get me started on the Mai tai. That drink makes me feels like I’m home in the carribean. I’ll be back with my boyfriend and mom today. Thanks again, Meagan & Angela! They always make you feel like family!

This is a genuine small Staten Island business! A cute little ramen spot near Forest Avenue & Richmond Avenue. They had gluten free ramen. They also have vegan and vegetarian options. Bubble teas of all flavors and you can customize the sweetness if you don’t want it super sweet. Also standard items. I got the curry ramen which I would recommend. It’s spicy and different than other Japanese curry ramens. The flavor was great, price great, and the manager Angel was very sweet. Because it’s in a major parking lot you may not realize it’s a local, small biz. Def recommend checking them out!

Me and my two friends had our lunch on this restaurant. We were enjoying the food yesterday. Place is so beautiful, service is excellent, thank you Judy. She was a big help. Place is clean. We had some soju to. Everything is good thank you guys. We will come again. Wish you all the best

If you want to have lunch or dinner at a great place on Staten Island, this is the place to go. We’ve been to this restaurant on numerous occasions since it opened, and no matter what dish we try, we are always impressed by the taste and the quality of the food. The service is impeccable and the servers are wonderful. They have a full bar that serves all types of drinks in a real cozy atmosphere. They also have a takeout service, which is a terrific advantage if you don’t have time to actually go to the restaurant. We’ve been to many ramen restaurants, and by far, this is the best on the island. Don’t take my word for it, give it a try and go yourself 👍

Very good! We were so hungry that we forgot to take pic ! Can you imagine high quality plated Gyudon for just less than $15 ? And the ramen that my bf ate was very good too. I would recommend for date night or easy bar night with friends !

Google
The service is very friendly and quick, where the servers spoke both Chinese and English. The interior is nice and cozy, with some cute designs hanging about. The best dish in our opinion was the chicken skin yakitori, which was both very tasty and crispy! The ramen were mediocre and didn't taste or look too amazing. The hawker chicken was flavorful but seemed a bit small. Overall we had a decent experience and would definitely come back to try their other yakitori selections. I hope they can continue to improve on their ramen to make it even better! Thank you for reading and good luck! (:

Yelp
Overall, I would say that it is a good place for a quick bite on a cold day! Service is quick, they have hot water and lemon, but the taste of the dishes was a bit disappointing.. Seaweed Salad: very sweet and they added lettuce under (first time seeing lettuce in this dish) Popcorn Chicken: Fried but not crispy, oily Beef Ramen: Broth flavor was not quite there, meatballs were a bit tough, and the egg seemed to be not freshly boiled. I'm not a chef so my critique might be off but just sharing my thoughts! This is a mom and pop shop run by a chinese family so I still recommend giving them a chance and try if you are in the area! Support local family businesses :)

Yelp
12.14.2024 @6:52pm Called to place order for 2x curry seafood ramen. Spoke with Angela. She the one who usually there whenever I drop by. She remember my last trip here and issues me back credit from last time and even gave me a complimentary drink. She always very friendly and welcoming. Foods quality & taste is pretty good. I have not find any thing to complaint about. And I love the curry ramen. Thank you Angela!

Yelp
Service was really quick and friendly. It has not been too busy both times I have come here. Yakitori was pretty good. Vegetable Ramen is packed with stuff and Shoyu Ramen is super salty and savory. I was not a fan of the slices of Chicken in the shoyu Ramen though. Not my favorite. Noodles were awesome texture very firm. Wish egg came with every ramen and was not an extra add on. Overall a good neighborhood spot for quick ramen or take out.

Yelp
The food was delicious! Staff was simply amazing and didn't know the restaurant is open for the past 6 years! Everything was filling and drinks are great.

Yelp
I had the seafood Ramen and chicken fritters. The food was very good. The place was very nice and the service was excellent! I'll definitely be back to try some other dishes

Yelp
Under new ownership. The food is no longer the quality I have been accustomed. I have ordered from Sakai at least once a month and I have noticed a substantial difference in quality, flavor and execution. I decided to go in person and the meat (beef) was old and inedible. Today I have ordered my favorite kimchi ramen and as you can see the colors are vastly different. The lighter color is from the previous owners. This broth was flavorful, I never had to mix it came perfect and ready. The darker broth has no flavor other than spice. It comes in a shorter bowl which makes it harder to mix and unlike the lighter broth this one needs mixing or you'll just get watery broth and pack of spice at the end. Also the broth comes in a plastic bowl which is piping hot and difficult to pick up and pour. This is really disheartening.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while in Staten Island and veryyy pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food! Would not have expected such great Japanese food in Staten Island but I might have to stop here whenever I'm in the area. I got the spicy miso ramen (they charge $1 extra to make it spicy) and it was so good! Better than the ramen I've had in the city. The broth had great flavor, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and they gave 2 pieces of char shiu. We got a selection of yakitori and they were pretty good too! The bacon wrapped tomato was our favorite. This is an amazing spot in the neighborhood, check it out!

Yelp
Spot is located inside strip mall/parking lot. A rating; love to see it. Greeted by a drum at the front door. What do you do when you're greeted by a drum? You beat it, duh :) That was a cute added touch to the ambiance. Warmly greeted inside, menus brought to the table, options plenty, tried a few things (not pictured). Fried calamari-6/10, disappointed that it's not fresh calamari used. Really small, not very flavorful. Spring rolls-8/10; really small in size but good. Dumplings 9/10; yum! Chicken ramen-7/10; could've been better. I really disliked the type of noodle they use, wasn't great, wasn't the most flavorful ramen I've ever had, left a lot in my bowl :(. I wanted to love this spot, unfortunately I didn't but it was ok. I would stop by again to try different things/get dumplings lol. Very affordable; lunch for 2 approx $25

Yelp
After an eventful day of shopping and walking around on a cold winter day everyone was famished for a bowl of piping hot soup noodles. Lucky for us Sakai was just right around the corner from us and we happily dropped on in. They had lunch specials which included your ramen with soup broth of choice plus a side and a drink. I went with the spicy tonkatsu with gyoza as my side and boy it did not disappoint. The broth was perfectly flavored and had a nice kick, a perfect balance of spice and pork taste. The service was amazing and atmosphere was fun and welcoming. 5 stars from me and will definitely be back!

Yelp
On the way go EWR airport, we made a stop in Staten Island for lunch. I was craving ramen and found this spot. It was a warm day, so the AC blasting once we walked in was really nice. For two, we ordered one of the Combo Specials, which included two Sakai Ramen ($13.50), one Gyoza ($5.95), and two drinks ($4). We got all of that for a total of $39.99. I did add ask to make my bowl of ramen spicy for an extra dollar and got the Matcha Green Tea for my drink. It's definitely made of powder, but still not bad for a pairing with your boba. The ramen itself was flavorful and delicious. There's lots of toppings and I liked the combination of chicken and pork as well.

Yelp
I was super excited when I found this place and have ordered from Sakai multiple times. I absolutely love their oko fries and chashu buns and think these are a must try! I recently ordered their zucchini yakitori which only came with 2 pieces. I think their portions for the skewers are quite small. I have only done takeout/delivery orders but whenever I go, the staff is very friendly and quick in getting me my order. The restaurant has tables for dine in and is decorated very simply! I'd love to dine in one day!

Yelp
I have to say that we are very happy to have come across Sakai Ramen. It is definitely one of the better ramen dishes I have experienced in Staten Island. We each had the house special Sakai ramen and the Sakai wings. The wings had a little kick but were very juicy and tasty with a mild chili pepper sauce. The ramen was exceptional. The broth was seasoned extremely well with just the right consistency. The dish had more ingredients than so many other ramen establishments. There were two moist pieces of pork belly and a nice slice of chicken, which I have never had in ramen before, and this was a nice surprise. The seaweed, egg, fish cake and bamboo shoots were a plus. And the noodle had the perfect bite. But what I found to be most entertaining was that they played 80's pop/rock music throughout the night. I have never experienced that in any ramen restaurant and that made the meal even more terrific.

Yelp
I love this place. They always have great and fresh food. My favorite has to be the vegetable ramen. It's so delicious, their chicken wings are flavorful and guns texture is pretty good. I love their bubble tea as well. I order through Uber eats majority of the time, I wonder if I can directly order from this restaurant though. I think I'll find that out. Today I ordered the matcha green tea bubble tea, usually I order the mango milk bubble tea. They must remember because Uber gave me a complimentary mango bubble tea. This place is highly recommended by me. 10 stars

Quana S.

Yelp
I come here often after work to grab a quick bite. Delicious Ramen and friendly and attentive staff always!

Yelp
Pretty good spot ! Food was alright, didn't really wow me, compare to the ramen I had in the city but it's close enough. Price was fair in my opinion. Average 13-16 dollar for an bowl of ramen. Ordered their combo which comes with the ramen, appetizer ( pork bun ) and a drink, for 20 buck I think it's pretty worth. Only issue was the pork bun, the bun was over steam, or the hot water touched the bottom of the bun, it fell apart once I hold it so that was a no no. But over all I would recommend coming for a visit if you're around Staten Island area.

Yelp
Feeling sick so babe treated me to ramen. And not just out the pack. Of course I added some extra like sweet chilli sauce we also had the Taro and lychee ice tea yum yummers of course I got spring rolls cause duh! Anyway stop by if your in jersey

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here to eat for over a year now but havent really gotten the chance. I was craving for some ramen noodle so decided to come here and give it a shot. The prices for the food are pretty reasonable and at lunch times they have combos that are cheaper than when you order each thing separately. We got combo 2 which comes with Sakai ramen, one chashu bun (pork or chicken), and a drink of your choice. The Sakai ramen was pretty decent but I've definitely had better in Japan village at Brookyln. The pork chashu bun was ok. Not as good as I thought it'd be. The bubble tea was great! Overall, I'd come here again if I crave for ramen and don't want to drive all the way out to another borough.
google avatar

Vivian P.

Yelp
The ramen is mediocre, the broth was quite bland. No umami flavor at all. I wanted to be happy and finally find a ramen spot on the island, but that's not the case. I ordered takeout so I can't speak for service in the restaurant. However, the pack again for take out is solid and had no issues.
google avatar

Yelp
Best ramen spot on Staten Island. Service is great and food is even better! My family and probably go here at least once biweekly.

Yelp
This ramen place was delicious! The smells and flavors were amazing! We had the special and loved it!

Yelp
Came in with family due to long wait another restaurant. We were seated immediately which is really good because we were starving! They have both food and drinks menu. We got the combo yakitori which has peppers, egg plants, fried tofu, bacon wrapped mochi, bacon wrapped cherry tomato, some skin (I forgot which animal), chicken gizzards. I got the miso ramen, the broth and noodles were good! It was flavourful! The ramen includes bamboo shoots, corn, scallions, and fish cake. It was unfortunate that they didn't include an egg. However, they have a topping sections that you can add egg and other toppings for additional fees. The meat was not too thick, it was fatty, chewy and moist! For the drink, I got hana white peach, it was very fragrant! The restaurant is spacious has industrial modern design, staff were attentive and asked if we need help taking a group picture.

Yelp
Whaddup foodie peeps! Decided to go back to NYC area to chill and grub this weekend. First place I checked out was a local ramen shop in Staten Island called Sakai Ramen. Was greeted with friendly hosts and servers who practice COVID safety measures. I ordered the select 5 yakitori skewer combo. I chose chicken meatball (savory), chicken thigh (also savory and slightly tender), chick gizzard (crunchy chewy goodness), chicken heart (slight irony earthy taste), and chicken skin (super crisp and savory! Recommend!). I also ordered the Sakai ramen, which is a chicken and pork broth mixed with black garlic oil and toppings. The flavor of the soup was rich and savory and I enjoyed the garlicky taste. The noodles were soft and chewy and slurp-able. All in all, enjoyed the food here along with the friendly staff. Until next time, stay safe and healthy!!

Yelp
Finally a good Ramen spot on Staten Island The chicken was super delicious and a lot of flavor in it which I kind of went in there expecting it to be regular and I was all at fault. Definitely my go to spot for good ramen close to home .
google avatar

Yelp
A great place to cure your ramen cravings here in Staten Island. The Deluxe Combo for two is a steal! Definitely worth its price! The combo for two comes with two Sakai Ramen ($13.50) plus 5pcs of gyoza plus two drinks if your choice (soda or milk tea). The Chicken gizzard skewers ($2) were the first to come followed by our drinks. The gizzard skewers are best meant to eat right away. The gizzards are fresh and chewy. It is well seasoned and grilled. The gizzards are in bite pieces so definitely one of the smaller skewers I had. Sakai Chicken wings are their fried wings with their house mild sauce. Their house mild sauce has a nice kick but not too spicy. The wings are were meant to eat right away. Once it gets cold, the sauce causes the skin to be soggy. The Sakai Ramen includes two types of chashu; pork & chicken. This is my first time having chicken chashu. Using dark meat of a chicken allowed the chashu to be soft and tender. Tables are 6 feet apart. Restaurant staff all wore mask.

Yelp
Got the spicy miso ramen and some skewers. The old was good and service was quick. Good amount of sunlight from the outdoor windows. Enjoyed the food and it was delicious. Would definitely visit again

Yelp
Nice place, good food very courteous staff and the best bubble tea on Staten Island. I highly recommend it if you're in the area

Yelp
The service was Amazing I walked in not knowing what to expect. The location was nice and clean Ramen delicious best I had

Yelp
THIS WAS THE MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE EVERRRR!!! DEFINITELY COMING BACK this restaurant has the friendliest staff, cleanest dining area, and the most delicious food in what I say the entire Staten island area. they had great food from appetizers to main courses to desserts. their bento boxes and boba are the most amazing things there. Also their ramen is so fresh and delicious and the broth is so creamy!! there is also a bar so it's perfect for a little date night but there are also so many family friendly options too. also the whole vibe of the restaurant is so inviting and calm. I love the photo wall of customers that they have on the wall. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday night with my boyfriend after hearing about this place from his friend. When we arrived, we were seated promptly. The ambiance definitely felt very cozy. We ordered quite quickly from a very attentive waiter who came to check on us every so often and asking how everything was. We got two appetizers (basil popcorn chicken and okonomiyaki fries), a ramen for each of us (vegetable ramen for me and sakai ramen for him) and bubble tea for each of us (milk tea with jelly for him and matcha green tea with herbal jelly for me). We were debating on getting skewers but turned it down as we didn't think it was worth getting. The food was okay, it wasn't bad or outstanding. And I felt like something was really missing/lacking in all the dishes - from the appetizers to the ramen. It was still a good experience as my boyfriend and I chatted it up even after paying the bill and didn't get rushed to leave. Unfortunately, we will not be returning as my boyfriend continues to search for his go-to ramen spot.

Yelp
Been wanting to try out this place for the longest time. Its grand opening was yesterday 1/15/2020 But didn't have time to come til today. The ramen is okay, the rice bowl was okay too, not anything to wow over. My kids and I go trying out ramen restaurants from all over the place, from Queens to Brooklyn to Korean town in jersey ... We been there tried it. With Sakai they really need to add some kind of wow to their flavoring to enhance their ramen bowl, nothing special, well to us anyway. But would come back just for their bubble tea, cannot really go wrong with that. Sort of disappointed after waiting for the place to open. Note: only came here to try the ramen bowls specifically. Did tried out the popcorn chicken, that's not bad.
google avatar

Dominik D.

Yelp
They had some top notch spicy miso ramen. It didn't take them long to cook either, maybe 10 minutes.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Last time I try to go here they were closed so decided to try again. One note they will ask for your vaccine card to sit. The staff are very friendly. We order different variety of foods and the foods came pretty fast The quality of the foods taste good. Would defintely come back here again.

Yelp
Best and only real ramen on Staten Island. However, it's still mediocre and among the lesser ramen shops in NYC. Pros: -Decent broth -lots of noodles -eggs cooked well -fantastic pricing -free piece of yakitori with a ramen order Cons: -chicken tough and flavorless in the ramen -pork with similar issues, but I've had worse -meat in ramen dishes is the smallest I've ever seen in any ramen shop ever -noodles were a bit tough and clumping together -$1.00 for an extra HALF an egg, come on guys -no option on menu for extra noodles, maybe if you ask they'll sell you more -yakitori was tiny, glad I didn't pay for it I wish it was just a straight up ramen shop because I want them to hone it and hammer out the meat and noodle issues. It wasn't bad but it really doesn't stand out. Being the only ramen place on the island, I hope it improves.

Yelp
I walked by this place at Forest Plaza and was intrigued to try out their food. Typically, I would go for ramen, but I was interested in trying out the rice dish. Appetizer: Fried calamari: a savory and crispy dish which never fails to surprise me. Harumaki (spring rolls): There are two rolls per order so I got two orders to share with my family. The spring roll was crispy with a soft and savory stuffing. It's paired well with the sweet chili sauce. Main dish: Don GyuDon: The rice bowl was smaller than expected. However, the toppings were great. The beef and onions were went well together. The ginger and scallions provides a balance against the protein. The reason why I gave 4 stars and not 5 is due to small portion of toppings as opposed to the large portion of white rice. I would've loved there to be more of beef and onions. Next time, I'll definitely keep in mind to order extra. Overall, this is a nice spot tucked away in Forest Avenue. I'll come back and try out their other dishes.
google avatar

Jt F.

Yelp
Ramen was good. They got my order right with no scallions. The cool thing that set it apart from standard ramen places is that they had yakitori also. My plum marinated chicken thighs were really delicious. The decor was also really well done. It seemed cool and fancy, not cheap. Definitely one of my new lunch spots when I have work on Staten Island.
google avatar

Irish D.

Yelp
Tasteless ramen and tiny portions of skewers and appetizers. Only good toppings lol. I'm from Japan so I know what an authentic ramen is. I can even make better than this. Rock shrimp is soft shrimp. Lol I guess trip to the city is a must!! No good ramen place in the island so upsetting. I expected to be authentic. NOT.
google avatar

Jenny M.

Yelp
So I have been to Sakai Ramen before and wasn't impressed by the quality of the broth. So I gave it another chance after two years because my boyfriend's friends is raving about how good Sakai ramen is. I was not impressed and the broth was still lacking flavor which is a big deal because the broth is very important in my opinion. Secondly if you ask me if I want spicy or not you should not be charging me an extra dollar just because it is on the side. This is the last time we will be coming back.
google avatar

Ian K.

Yelp
Food really wasn't good. There are still no good ramen places in Staten island, which sucks. The ramen broth was extremely bland and there wasn't much food in it. Three pieces of chicken was generous, but there was almost nothing else. A thin piece of fishcake and almost no green onions. Just didn't taste like much overall. The fried rice with pineapple also wasn't great. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. The chicken bun was pretty good though and the woman who worked the register was extremely nice. I don't want to give a bad review, but the food just wasn't good. Would definitely not go here again, unfortunately
google avatar

Yelp
Bad customer service! Wasn't friendly or welcoming! The food wasn't good!! For a new establishment you would think they would treat their customers better! Would not recommend this place! Two thumbs down!

Yelp
This place is a gem on a cold snowy winter day !!chashu is delicious as well the soup in general. Not sure why my phone Didn't save the pics of the soup. Reasonably priced and I have awesome lunch specials. Also my wife approves of the Boba
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
I've ordered multiple times here at Sakai. They have never disappointed me in each of their orders. Compared to other ramen spots in Staten Island, Sakai is probably the best you'll get. Their skewers are okay though since by the time they arrive to your door, they get soggy. The staff there are also incredibly nice each time I come in to pick up. For a small spot in SI, I definitely would have to say this is my go to for ramen.

Magg X.

Yelp
I like their customer service ! Very polite, Great attitude Their bubble teas are on point
google avatar

Ariana A.

Yelp
We waited and we tried it. The atmosphere is very friendly. The decor is very nostalgic by the fact that they used Honda from street fighter as wall art. The choices are limited but good. Unfortunately, they underestimated the volume of people waiting to try. They ran out of essential components to some of the soups. The waitress was very nice but unfamiliar with some items on the menu. The experience was enjoyable and is a repeat, I'll just wait a bit for them to get more menu items. I suggested to one of the waiters that a build your own ramen should be implemented. Maybe lower the prices just a little. When we go back, we will do a taste testing sampler of all the appetizers. A must try at least once, with an opened mind

Dan S.

Yelp
Excellent Ramen, and I am a tough critic on Ramen! You won't be dissappointed! Oshi me!
google avatar

Karina L.

Yelp
Very cute place and great pricing. The ramen was amazing and they had a huge selection of food! They also have soju which you can't go wrong with. I do recommend as ramen places in Staten islands are rare!

b l.

Yelp
Place was ok - the food didn't wow me, especially the broth. The noodles seemed authentic but as a whole, it just seemed to lack a lot of depth. The yakitori seemed ok - when getting the combo it's just a sample appetizer in disguise - most likely I wouldn't order them again. Honestly expected a few more pieces of meat but given the high cost of everything in the economy I'm trying to be understanding but for the price, I'm less inclined to come back. It's not terrible place but it wouldn't be my first selection when thinking about ramen on SI
google avatar

Yelp
I went here yesterday for lunch with my best friend and it was phenomenal. The service was quick and friendly, the atmosphere was quiet and trendy, and the food was delicious. I don't often find myself in Staten Island, but next time I do I'll be sure to stop by this place again.
