Sakana Nikkei

It was my first time at the restaurant for a girls night and I had Diego as my server. He was very attentive, gave the best recommendations, very professional. All the ceviches had great taste and very fresh. All food ordered were good quality. We ordered just about a little of everything. Also dessert was delicious. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you!!

Google
An absolute gem — every detail at Sakana Nikkei is done with heart, precision, and flavor! From start to finish, our experience at Sakana Nikkei was nothing short of phenomenal. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, whose kindness and passion for the restaurant set the tone for the evening. Her husband, the chef, crafted one incredible dish after another — everything was clearly made by hand, fresh, and with so much love. I particularly enjoyed that unlike most Las Olas restaurants, there was no blaring music and I could easily hear my company and Eddie as he explained anything we needed to us. Eddie truly elevated the experience. He was knowledgeable, personable, and perfectly paced each course so that the meal flowed seamlessly. His recommendations were spot-on, and you could tell he genuinely enjoys what he does. The service was basically white glove, and everything came out quickly and well prepared. We started with the Inca Old Fashioned — a must-try twist on a classic cocktail — followed by the shrimp and pork dumplings, nigiri that was unbelievably fresh and literally melted in your mouth, the hamachi tiradito, short ribs, and yakimeshi with chicken. Every dish was beautifully balanced, vibrant, and bursting with flavor. To finish, we had the Bruselina de Lúcuma for dessert — light, decadent, and the perfect ending to a truly memorable meal. You can feel the care, craftsmanship, and passion behind everything at Sakana Nikkei — from the food to the service to the warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that leaves you already planning your next visit before you’ve even left.

Google
Another great place around Las Olas. We had an amzing time. This place has a cool Miami Vibe with Dj and ambiance. The people are all dressed to the 9s. The food was very good and did not feel rushed at all. Bartenders knows what they are doing behind that bar. Friendly and knowledgeable. We had lots of apps that looked so good and tasted good we ate them before taking pictures. But then the main coarse with sushi, slow cooked ribs, Sea Bass all were amazing. Great place. Go and you will not be disappointed.

I was excited to try this new restaurant, and overall it didn’t disappoint. Although we had to wait a bit for our table and the food took some time to arrive, it was definitely worth it. The rolls were outstanding—especially the acevichado roll, which was my favorite. The beef anticucho was tender and flavorful, and the lomo saltado was excellent as well. The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was vibrant with stylish, trendy décor.

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I visited Sakana and really loved it. It’s an excellent place with a great atmosphere and very comfortable setting. Even though I don’t usually eat raw seafood, I found a delicious option: the Seabass. It was amazing — full of flavor and perfectly prepared. Definitely a restaurant I would return to and recommend. Everything was delicious! 🐟🍽️✨

We went here yesterday for my friend’s birthday and I absolutely loved it here! The food was sooooo good and the inside of the restaurant was so cute! Dorian was our waiter and he was incredible! He went above and beyond with his service and he knew everything from top to bottom on the menu and which foods he recommended! 10/10 experience! I will definitely be coming back to Sakana!!!

Yelp
Best hamachi tiradito I've ever had. The food is top notch and the cocktails as well. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Sakana delivers one of the best sushi experiences I've had in South Florida--hands down. The fish is incredibly fresh, beautifully plated, and perfectly balanced in flavor. Every roll tastes thoughtfully crafted, not just thrown together like at most places. The Toro and Yellowtail Jalapeño were melt-in-your-mouth perfection, and the Sakana Special Roll was a showstopper--fresh, bright, and packed with flavor. Even the miso soup and appetizers had that "made with care" touch. The atmosphere is intimate without being pretentious--ideal for date night or dinner with friends. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely seem to care that you enjoy your experience. You can tell it's a restaurant run by people who love what they do. Pro tip: Sit at the sushi bar if you can. Watching the chefs work and chatting with them makes the whole night even better. Sakana has officially become one of my go-to spots in Fort Lauderdale. Whether you're a sushi purist or just love great food, this place never misses.

Yelp
Honestly, this place is AMAZING and in a great area on the water. The food, the ambiance, the service, the vibes - all immaculate. We split a bunch of things: Lima Tiradito - soooo fresh and flavorful Scallops - this is a MUST get wow - I don't even like scallops but this melted in my mouth and was bursting with flavor. Dumplings - I didn't eat them - but I tried the sauce they were in and I was obsessed. My parents said the dumplings were great and had a little kick! Causa Frita - a more Peruvian inspired dish, it is a potato ball with avocado and shrimp - sooooo delicious and comforting! Sake Tartare - soooooo yummy and fresh Chocolate Dome Cake - a really delicious rich dessert! Passionfruit Pie - this dessert was an amazing surprise. We were hesitant to try it but the serve suggested it and we were so happy she did! It was soooooooooooooo good. Sweet, tart, but also creamy and rich - a must get! Overall I would highly recommend, the food is all so fresh and bursting with flavor!!!!

Yelp
We tried this spot today and it was amazing. The mix of Peruvian and Japanese flavors really worked. We started with the seafood tower, super fresh and full of flavor, then had A5 wagyu sushi that just melted in the mouth. We sat at the bar and our bartender Edward was excellent. Every cocktail he made was creative, tasty, and perfectly balanced. We finished with a panna cotta that was the perfect ending. The location is convenient and there's plenty of paid parking close by. We'll definitely be back for sure!

Yelp
This place looks good in pictures but that's about it. The food didn't look appetizing at all, especially considering the ridiculous prices they charge. I actually went because I saw a photo of a lobster dish online that looked amazing, but when I asked about it, they didn't even have it on the menu. The hostess told us only outdoor seating was available because the inside was "reserved," which was fine, but as soon as we sat down a server rushed over and acted condescending about us not checking with her first. Strange and unnecessary. The menu was disappointing overall, with uninspired options at $30-50 for just eight pieces of sushi. We ended up only ordering sake and edamame, which should tell you enough. When we decided to leave for somewhere better, it still took nearly 30 minutes just to get the check. Honestly, I don't know how this place has so many 5-star reviews. It feels like a fake, watered-down "Asian fusion" restaurant that cares more about aesthetics than food or hospitality. Definitely not worth the money.

Yelp
The food here is great and they have a nice outdoor bar where you can grab a drink before dinner. I really enjoyed their happy hour from 4-7 at the bar. Just found out they also have $10 martini Wednesdays. The rolls are all divine, especially the acevichado and Katana. Service is always great and the vibes inside are really cool. Great spot for a date or happy hour.

Yelp
Food was delicious, service was excellent. Ambiance and music was a vibe. I would go back just for the DJ but seriously everything was great!
google avatar

Ariana M.

Yelp
The sexiest happy hour in Fort Lauderdale and it's served every day. Yes. Even on the weekends you can indulge in $10 cocktails. Their Collins and the martini are the only green drinks I want. The tiradito had a kick. The sushi roll had a delicious sauce with it. Their ceviche came packed with fish. The fried calamari was their version of a jalea and thankfully they have karaage (fried chicken too). They've only been open for a few months now but they are definitely doing something right. It's the kind of place you'll want to visit with your friends and strictly get the happy hour menu. Oh and don't miss going to the bathroom, it's the perfect photo op. The ambiance is top. The vibe is unmatched.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it here!! Warren, the GM, is such an amazing person. He went up to every table making sure everyone was satisfied with the service and food. He recommended the Kasan Roll, it did not disappoint! We got that and the Katana roll which was packed with a good amount of flavor. To end the night, we got the Panna Cotta. It wasn't too sweet but it was packed with multiple flavors that meshed so well with one another. By far one of my favorite desserts I've tried at a restaurant!! Already looking forward to coming back here!

Yelp
Ambiance is good Miami vibes. The server was attentive alittle too fast moving so he missed some menu items we chose and we ended up paying for something we didn't order due to the fact that he heard something different but it was okay not a deal breaker. The music is moderate the lights were dim and bright at random times but I think it was a mistake. The food was good the oysters were fresh, the octopus was meh felt like it could've been cooked abit more. We got a roll and saved the leche de Tigre which was phenomenal from the oysters to pour on top. It was our anniversary and Weirdly he pushed us to try a dessert when we didn't really want it but made it seem like it was on the house, he said so we could celebrate our anniversary but then charged us for it on the bill. Weirdddd but the food was good the vibe was nice and the server can always change lol. So try it let me know what you got.

Yelp
Went to celebrate a friend's birthday and had an amazing experience! The ambiance at Sakana Nikkei Cuisine is absolutely beautiful, elegant lighting, thoughtful decor, and a romantic atmosphere that makes it perfect for date night or a special occasion. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. Our server was friendly, attentive, and took the time to walk us through the menu. We ordered the classic ceviche and Makimono Acevichado, the flavor was great and fresh. We also enjoyed a bottle of yuzu sake, although was too sweet for my taste, still paired with the food. For three people we spent almost $200. That includes 4 drinks, appetizer, three entrees and tip. What really made the experience stand out was the service. The manager even came by our table to check in to make sure everything was good. If you're looking for a place with amazing food, beautiful ambiance, and great service this is it. Don't leave without trying the ceviche or taking a photo under that floral ceiling! The lighting is perfect for social media pictures

Yelp
Went to Sakana in Fort Lauderdale the other night. It is a beautiful spot right on the water. I think you can take the water taxi to get there also. All the tables were reserved (we def should've booked ahead) so we sat at the bar. There was a DJ and the ambiance is so pretty. The bartenders were nice and one offered to make me a custom drink based on the flavors I like. The one downside was that our food took forever. It was really good when it finally came out though. I'd def come back but probably with a reservation. Hopefully the kitchen is running smoother next time.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best restaurants in all of Fort Lauderdale. It took forever to open but omg worth the wait! Just as all things are right? It's a Peruvian Japanese restaurant & im part Peruvian so I was ready to eat here ok! Of course I had to get the Lomo Saltado & the edemame here is insanely amazing oh my goodness. I HIGHLY recommend this spot. Ambience is beyond beautiful as well with dark ambience & velvet seating.

Yelp
New spot that opened up, good food. The ceviche was very good. A little on the pricey side but overall average for the area. Very cute inside.

Shawn P.

Yelp
The food, drinks and service were all top notch. Would recommend the dumplings, short rib and the chocolate bomb. But everything here looks great probably cant go wrong with anything. New restaurant tucked on the south side of the river. Inside has wonderful decor, great ambiance and even a DJ. Music was at the perfect level - set the mood but not too loud you couldn't hear each other. This is like a smaller Komodo - which is a terrific compliment. Would highly recommend checking out.

Yelp
Very basic food. La Granja dressed up in Ft Laudy. Attentive service, small place. It has a bar.

Yelp
A beautiful restaurant in a lovely location with excellent Nikkei cuisine. I hosted a business lunch and everyone gushed over the quality and taste. I personally enjoyed the tiradito of hamachi and the sushi rolls. Definitely check out the dessert selection as well. The passionfruit lemon pie (of sorts) was a fantastic finish!

Yelp
Sakana Nikkei in Fort Lauderdale is a must for Japanese-Peruvian fusion lovers! The Lomo Saltado and Tiradito of Hamachi are incredible, and the sushi is top-notch. Huge shoutout to Warren, the GM, for making everyone feel welcome, and Wendy, the bartender, for the best drinks in town--this place never disappoints! You will love the water front location and watching the yachts go by!

Yelp
Some of the food was good but not great. The service was a D plus. The lights kept dimming and brightening.

Yelp
The new kid on the block Been eagerly waiting for this restaurant to open its doors and it's absolutely amazing. The food quality /presentation knocked it out of the park! The friendly staff really made us feel at home. Got an opportunity to meet one of the owners and was impressed by her passion and eye for detail. Telling all my friends and colleagues about this place. 5 stars ! If not 6
google avatar

Brianna C.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible service from start to finish! The staff made us feel welcome right away and stayed attentive the whole time. On top of that, the Lomo Saltado was flavorful, and the sushi was fresh and well prepared. Drinks were flowing and definitely added to the fun. Great vibe all around and definitely a spot worth coming back to.

Yelp
Very nice place! I was excited to try this new restaurant and I'm very happy we did. It is absolutely beautiful inside. Nick was our server and he was great. Our favorite dish of the night was the classic ceviche mixed. The location is wonderful. We will be back. Thank you

Maria Julia P.

Yelp
Lovely and comfortable place, kind service by Dorian, our waiter, and absolutely delicious Peruvian Nikkei food. Well recommend .

Yelp
We have been Sakana twice now and had great experiences both times. The first time we went for Sunday late lunch and got the filet served on a rock with chimichurri. The chimichurri is so fresh unless steak was so tasty. One of the best I've had in Fort Lauderdale. We loved it so much we went back for the filet and this time, we also did saki bombs, which was so fun! I highly recommend giving Sakana a try and getting the filet and saki bombs.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, fresh and flavorful. Original menu, loved the combined flavors of Peruvian and Japanese cooking. Very happy to have this new restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. Service was fast and impeccable.

Yelp
Found this restaurant while I was trying to find a restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday, and it was not a disappointment. The staff, the service, the food and drinks, everything simply amazing. We had a group of 12 and we had Dorian as our server who was very attentive and patient with us all. The other staff who kept coming in to clear our table was also making and pleasant! Wish I could've given her a big hug. Everyone was pleased with their meals, drinks and service and it was the talk of the night. This spot is it!
google avatar

Ana L.

Yelp
Just wow! We ordered the anticuchos twice! We ordered the ceviche clásico twice! We order the dumplings twice! We had the lobster pasta which was delicious and the acebichado sushi...just perfect! Also, just come!
google avatar

Paula S.

Yelp
The food was good but there was a serious bug problem. There were gnats/fruit flies all over the restaurant and even more so when the food came. Having raw dishes with bugs everywhere is just enough to make me want to never go back. It's unfortunate because the food was really good.

Michelle V.

Yelp
The décor is stunning, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was exceptional. I'll definitely be returning!

Evey M.

Yelp
This is one of those overpriced SoFL restaurants that are more about the aesthetics than quality. I went here for a date night because it's a newer spot. We had a reservation, but we still had to wait when we got there. The decor is nice, but the inside layout is not comfortable. All of the two-person tables were crammed against the wall or stuck near pillars. It felt like they were just trying to pack in as many tables as possible. We were seated at one of those cramped tables at first and had no space at all. After asking to move, they placed us by the bathroom which was distracting due to the door slamming for every person coming in/out. FYI - ensure you don't sit near that area. The menu was expensive, but not in a way that felt justified. As far as the drinks: they were not good and tasted watered down. I had the macaron cocktail, which was terrible. My date had the pisco sour, which was just okay. I switched to something safe, an old fashioned, but that wasn't good either. Regarding the food: the appetizers took a while to come out. I ordered the grilled octopus - I will say, that was good. My partner ordered oysters, which were mid at best. My partner also loves sushi and was looking forward to trying it here, but was disappointed. They provide overpriced basics and the rolls are just "fancy" names: aka California/Dragon rolls with toppings. I can't speak for the full menu since we didn't stay for mains, but based on what we had, this place doesn't live up to the hype. It's visually appealing, but everything else felt underwhelming. Definitely not somewhere I'd go back to but glad we gave it a shot. That said, I've seen a lot of good reviews, so maybe we just caught it on an off night or didn't order the right things. Either way, it just wasn't for us.

Ronaldo C T.

Yelp
Food amazing , but service terrible, the waiter never appears, asked for a beer and came a last minute after we ate , terrible customer service, but nice place nice view

Megan F.

Yelp
We came in expecting just another upscale spot with a nice vibe, but we were genuinely impressed. Every dish was not only beautifully presented but had so much flavor. The portions were surprisingly generous (don't let the plating fool you) and the service was friendly & attentive. Highly recommend!

Kristian F.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. The service was solid! I used to manage a restaurant myself and the food, ambiance, and music were fun! I got the Inca Old Fashioned, wonderful. The Specialty Rolls were great as well. Worth a try! Nick provided great service!

Sydney J.

Yelp
10/10!! From the service, to the atmosphere, to the FOOD. Omg. Every dish was delicious. The hamachi, traditional ceviche, the steak and potatoes, seafood pasta. I will definitely be back. Maddie was a sweetheart and took great care of us. Shoutout to the young hostess with braces as well (didn't catch her name) but she was very hospitable and pleasant.

Christine B.

Yelp
Wow!!!! Fantastic restaurant with excellent service, flavorful and beautifully presented food, and a warm, inviting ambiance. Perfect for any occasion Highly recommended! I love the server Anselm very friendly, the knowledge of the menu was incredible. If you go follow his suggestions.... We will go again!!

Brian B.

Yelp
The food was incredible! We had the absolute best Loma Saltado I've ever eaten. We also had the dumplings and an appetizer made out of potato and shrimp. Both were delicious. The drinks were even better. I don't remember the name of my drink but it tasted like a passion fruit margharita. The service was excellent and the ambiance was extremely nice. I highly recommend it!

Stacy T.

Yelp
2 times this week. Before their official opening. Love the vibe, decor, staff and especially the food. I wish and hope for their success. So happy to have beautiful restaurant on the south side of the river. Definitely my new neighborhood spot.

Kyle F.

Yelp
Hands-down, the best restaurant you'll find in downtown Fort Lauderdale! With a mix of Peruvian and Japanese it doesn't get any better than that. The atmosphere and the staff are incredible. I wish I would've taken some pictures of the ceviche. I think my wife fell in love with me all over again like it was the first time we met seeing that she is from Lima. Don't forget to try the Lucuma!

Ray M.

Yelp
Finally a great restaurant with amazing food in Fort Lauderdale,! II am very picky but this place blew my mind with all different flavors. Loved the hamachi tiradito, dumplings and the seafood pasta. Dessert off the chain. Very recommended. We will be back!!

Lauren G.

Yelp
First off the restaurant is beautiful! The indoor/outdoor bar is a great place to grab some cocktails and apps before sitting for dinner. I feel like you have to get a Pisco Sour at a Peruvian restaurant right? The bar chairs were actually so comfortable if we had to have dinner at the bar we wouldn't have minded. We started with the octopus and the ahi tuna (pictured). The hamachi and the fried chicken thighs (so delicious they did not make the pictures). We loved all the apps and the platting was beautiful. I had the Seabass for dinner. It was light and fresh with a yummy sauce and asparagus. My second drink was their version of a margarita which is actually served neat and has a salty foam top. It was so unique, I loved it! We also got the classic ceviche (because Peruvian ceviche is a must). The fish was so fresh! We had the passion fruit cake for dessert (think Keylime pie texture with a tart passionfruit sauce) and the chocolate dome (hard chocolate shell filled with a mousse). Everything was plated beautifully and the flavors were just as good as they looked. There was a little delay in service on our second round of drinks which is expected on an opening night of a new restaurant. Other than that it was a great experience and would be back.
