The 19 Best Desserts In London - London - The Infatuation

"Sakurado is a Japanese patisserie that serves London’s best mochi. They’re handmade daily and everything from the glutinous shell to the creative, cream-rich fillings have convinced us that our Little Moons habit was nibble training for these. We like the fresh zesty mango one best, but whoever decided to cover tiramisu in their perfect rice pastry deserves a raise. The Noughties-boutique-look Shaftesbury Avenue cafe has minimal seating, but it’s ideal for a late-night mochi moment after dinner nearby." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, sinead cranna

The 7 Best Japanese Bakeries In London - London - The Infatuation

"Sakurado is a Japanese patisserie spot on Shaftesbury Avenue that’s perfect for anyone who’s partial to window shopping of the sugared choux variety. It’s got black chandeliers, faux marble tables, and a counter of mille crêpe cakes so stylish that you could feasibly wear them to fashion week. Plus, London’s most memorable mochi. These palm-sized beautiful blobs are handmade daily and we like the fresh zesty mango one best." - sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley

Sakurado - Review - Chinatown - London - The Infatuation

"Sakurado is a Japanese patisserie spot on Shaftesbury Avenue that’s perfect for anyone who’s partial to window shopping of the sugared choux variety. It’s got that Noughties boutique look about it with a couple of black chandeliers, faux marble tables, and a counter of mille crêpe cakes so stylish that you could feasibly wear them to fashion week. But in the midst of matcha cheesecakes, slabs of fluffy milk bread, and a flaky pistachio croissant swirl that we’d like to nominate as our new alarm clock, is London’s most memorable mochi. These palm-sized beautiful blobs are handmade daily and everything from the glutinous shell to the creative, cream-rich fillings have convinced us that our Little Moons addiction was simply nibble training for these elite chewers. We like the fresh zesty mango one best, but whoever decided to cover tiramisu in their perfect rice pastry deserves a raise. Stop by whenever your day is crying out for a matcha reprieve or make use of their late-night closing time to grab a box of London’s best mochi after dinner nearby. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch video credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Heidi Lauth Beasley

This Japanese dessert shop is a true gem! The cakes and crepes are not only beautifully crafted but also absolutely delicious. Every bite is light, flavorful, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. The presentation is stunning, making these treats almost too pretty to eat. Plus, the packaging is elegant and well-designed, making them perfect for gifts or a special treat for yourself. An absolute gem for dessert lovers! Their mille crepe cakes are a masterpiece, delicate layers, perfectly balanced flavors, and not overly sweet. The matcha and black sesame varieties are a must-try. The Japanese cheesecake is absolutely divine. The presentation is elegant, and the quality is consistently high. A go-to spot for an indulgent treat in London. Definitely recommended 👌.

What a gem! Great location, great service and plenty of options to choose from! I wish I could have got everything. I got the matcha strawberry mochi….it was light, soft and not overly sweet. Made fresh on site. My friend got the mango version and she really enjoyed hers! I took a selection of the pastries home and they did not disappoint. Highly recommend this cute place if you fancy something sweet and fresh!

Don’t be fooled by the pretty mochi photos! The advertised mochi looked plump with mango filling, but mine had very little. The mochi also stuck to the paper liner, making it messy to eat—no napkins were provided. What really stood out was the odd serving process: One staff member handed me an empty box, while another *held the mochi in mid-air* and tried to drop it inside. It felt rushed and careless—why not place it into the box properly on the counter? A little more attention to detail would make a big difference. For the price £5.5 per piece of mochi, I expected better quality and service. Hopefully, they can improve in the future.

Came here on Saturday with my friend to try the fresh mochi and it did not disappoint! I ordered the strawberry and my friend got the oreo. The strawberry flavour was sweet and refreshing definitely recommend trying a fruit flavour. The oreo was very nice too but I preferred the fruit flavour. Pricing was around £5 something but the portion size was decent! Will definitely return to try more flavours! There were lots of other things on the menu that looked great too.

Great matcha mille crepe if you’re in Chinatown. 😁 yuzu cheesecake and matcha tiramisu were okay but not amazing. Seating is limited so suggest trying to grab a small table when you order if you don’t want to eat on the street

This is one of the best fresh mochi in London. The mochi is very soft and they make it to order. I’ve tried many flavors and they are all good. Highly recommend.
