NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"Tacoway Beach has some competition—Sal Y Lima is a Mexican spot in The Rockaways that's making an interesting sounding line-up of tacos, like the Seoul Surfer with Korean-style bulgogi beef, crunchy slaw, and gochujang aioli. There's also margaritas and guacamole, of course, in case you need to soothe your sunburn with tequila." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

The atmosphere is nice and chill The shrimp tacos need more flavor The green salad isn't what we expect. It was literally chopped romaine dressing and a grilled chicken, which is additional. The cocktails are amazing. It's not a type of restaurant to stuff yourself more, so just to talk and catch up on some lost time with friends and nip on finger food. The staff are very attentive and communicative. I will revisit later on to see if the menu changes since it's a new restaurant. It's nice to have something like this in the rockaways.

First of all whoever decorated this place, AMAZING !! I literally felt like I was in Mexico 🇲🇽 but with a NYC vibe! The hostess/ manager that welcomed us couldn't have been any sweeter! We sat at the bar , margaritas were delicious and food just as good! The owner Eric walks around saying hi, and making sure people are happy with service and everything else. This place will soon be a destination for sure! Awesome addition to the Rockaways! ❤️ 💙

I had an awesome time here. The food was decent(portion sizes are a bit on the smaller side), the drinks were great and the service was fantastic! What I will say, however, is that the menu is limited which is probably because they just opened. It is also relatively affordable! For context, we got two appetizers, two entrees and two drinks(one alcoholic drink) for around $60 ish dollars

I just tried this place out for the first time yesterday and it's a very nice ambiance, however, my bartender had such a bitter face, never once smiled which really killed the mood of feeling welcomed. The host was very nice and accommodated my friend and I with a seat at the bar very quickly. The kitchen unexpectedly closed for about 20 to 30 minutes, so that was a little weird, in the middle of a Saturday evening, but it's okay to have hurdles... I'll give it another shot just to see if the bartender smiles. Also the beer is mainly lite the only stronger beer they have is Modelo negro. And they close pretty early on the weekends at 10:30. Overall, it's a nice bar with a relaxed ambience.

Perfect addition to Rockaway Boulevard. The Yuca fries and guacamole were fresh and tasty. Shrimp and lime tacos hit the spot. The colorful and fun decor keep the beach vibes going. If you need a margarita or good food before getting on the A, you should check it out.

Google
I experienced rude service and an unpleasant atmosphere. The food was disappointing—small portions with little flavor. Shrimp tasted like it was cooked in a microwave and was u seasoned. Tortilla were direct from grocery store un heated or seasoned The tacos were inferior to those from food trucks. This is a better spot for drinks than for dining. The Peruvian restaurant nearby is a much better if you want a real meal.

Great addition to the area! My wife, daughter, and I enjoyed the appetizers, the Tacos and the Margaritas.. The service was attentive and the General Manager made several stops at our table to check on us. We will be regulars!

Yelp
Me and a friend visited after leaving the beach on a Sunday evening. She had been once before but said they had a limited menu so she suggested we visit since the full menu is now available. New, gorgeous and vibey restaurant that just opened not long ago. Decent menu. We wanted to try the gringo tacos but they didn't have any cheese... ok. So we went with the bulgogi tacos and black tempura tacos. Bulgogi was better than the fish but they both needed a little pinch of salt. Also what was on the tacos was different than what was listed on the menu. Both our drinks were tasty, strong and well mixed. Service was friendly and fast.

Yelp
Sal Y Lima has a nice, laid-back chic vibe and the drinks were definitely a highlight. I had a margarita that tasted good, though it was more ice than actual drink. The food was just okay, I ordered the Gringo (ground beef tacos) and a chicken quesadilla, which unfortunately was pretty dry. Service was pleasant; our waitress was friendly and attentive. I'd consider giving it another try in the future to see if things improve, but overall, it was simply... okay. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yelp
I recently dined here and was thoroughly impressed. The service was exceptional--friendly, attentive, and efficient from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor, with generous portions that left me satisfied. Every detail, from presentation to taste, exceeded my expectations. The staff made me feel welcomed and valued as a guest. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and outstanding service. I'll definitely be returning!

Yelp
Good was great! 3 tacos would be better then 2 but the food was delicious including the Yuka fries. The service was ok. A little slow at retuning to the table but very polite. Good was quick to come out from the kitchen. Atmosphere is great! Modern and sophisticated but relaxed and beachy. I will definitely go back.
