Update - walked into the restaurant the second day - same magic! Ordered Uber eats from here - loved the food, they honored all allergy constraints and still tasted just great! One of the best Thai food I’ve eaten - portion size was more than enough as well!

Google
This place is underrated! Got the Tom Yum soup, Pork Pad Thai, Waterfall Beef Salad and Mango with sticky rice. The Tom Yum was the best I have had and Ive traveled to Thailand. The flavors were bursting and I even drizzled the brother over my pad thai and it became even livelier! I am just here visiting from NC, but if I lived here, I would be a regular. Next time I want to try the Larb, drunken noodle and a curry dish. This place was a refreshing treat with its bright flavors of lime, mint , cilantro and basils. Thanks for exceeding my expectations Sala Thai Kitchen!

Google
It was my first time there and I really enjoyed their food. I don’t have Thai food that often but this one was very yummy! We had the green curry spice 2, probably I would’ve gone to 3; for the soup we got spice 2 and that very good too!

Google
I’ve been here 3 times in the past month and have been happy every time. The food is good, portions are large and the presentation is on point. The facilities and dining area are clean and the service has been consistently great. Today I went in around 3:30 (late lunch) because Apple Maps showed they were open. I walked in and Saul, the owner, said they were closed from 3-5 but he would make an exception for me and he sat me right away, despite me saying I would go and come back another time. This place has earned my business for years to come and all of my recommendations for good Thai in the area. Thank you, Saul!

Google
I am so glad I stuck to my belief that the best Thai places are in strip malls and converted gas stations and went into this place. Truly amazing food. Portions are huge, food is customizable for spice (for weaklings like me) and the service is top notch.

Google
What a gem of a find! Hands down, this is the best Thai restaurant I’ve experienced in SLC. The food? Absolutely divine—bursting with authentic flavors that had me savoring every bite and already dreaming of my next visit. I ordered the Tom Kha soup served in a hot pot at heat level 1, and let me tell you—it was perfection! The balance of creamy coconut, fragrant herbs, and just the right hint of spice was top-notch. My partner opted for the drunken noodles at heat level 3 and raved about their bold, flavorful kick. He even mentioned he could’ve gone for a level 4, so spice lovers, take note! The service was just as stellar as the food. Our waitress was a ray of sunshine, radiating warmth and joy that perfectly matched the restaurant’s vibrant energy. This place isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience!

Google
Loved everything we ordered! Some of the best Thai I’ve tried in Utah. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. Portions are big and can be shared between 2-3 people. Our waiter was nice and the service is great. We dined it and it wasn’t crowded but I noticed they are busy with lots of to go orders. So glad we found this place and can’t wait to go back again!

Google
We were greeted with a big smile and taken to our table the second we walked in. The food arrived fast, hot, delicious and appealing. My new best spot

Yelp
11/10 highly recommend. Not bland and it tastes fresh. Very flavorful and the only Thai spot I want to come to in the valley.

Yelp
Why is this not rated 4.x? The Yelp averaging from the ratings fails this business. It is definitely a 5 star restaurant. We had the Drunken Noodles with fried tofu. Absolutely delicious. Also the Thai egg rolls which were nice and lightly crispy. To finish it off, we had the Mango Sticky Rice. I never had it before. It was really good and we gobbled it down. It reminds me of a very good rice pudding with fresh mango chunks on the side. Not too sweet, just right. The service was pleasant. Nice, comfortable decor. Comfortable place in which to dine. Highly, highly recommend this place. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

Yelp
Ordered online takeout. I arrived to the restaurant a little early and my food was already ready which was speedy. I don't normally order drunken noodle when I get Thai food but I did this time and it was delicious! Very flavorful and not spicy at all. The inside of the restaurant is really nice if you are looking to dine in. Food was reasonably priced and I had a good portion size that I was full afterwards.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. We are self proclaimed Thai food snobs and this place is making our short list. We got 3 curried and Pad Si Ew. Tasted fresh and it was everything we wanted it to be. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite Thai place in Salt Lake City. Their service is attentive and the food is even better. I've been here a handful of times and I never leave disappointed. I am a red curry aficionado and this place has a red curry that's just splendid. I've had the beef, chicken and pork red curry on separate occasions and all of them were very good. I love the fact that their red curry doesn't have onions. The bowl is plenty big and comes with a side of jasmine rice. You're going to enjoy the fact that no matter the meat you want in your curry none will disappoint. Bamboo shoots, zucchini and bell peppers in a red curry and coconut milk concoction are simply *drool* Oh and chili heads they have their regular spice levels, but they can work a mean and spicy curry too. I tend to accompany my meal with fresh shrimp spring rolls which are also very good. When dipped in that peanut sauce they have become by far my favorite appetizer of any restaurant out here. If you want to travel within Thailand while still being here their Khao Soi (Northern Thailand curry) is also a highlight and offers a different palate experience. Highs: the food, service, price Mids & Lows: none

Yelp
Food was amazing. Service was mid. We had pad Thai and spring rolls. Very friendly. Price is good.

Yelp
I wish I could eat this mango sticky rice every day. The tom kha is to die for. Everything is so delicious!

Yelp
Great service, great food. I got the Pad Woonsen with Beef (GF) and it was fantastic! I would definitely recommend this place over the very close by, and newer restaurant, Thai 101. Sala's menu is much more extensive and has Gluten Free dishes labeled.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered takeout here. Loved the pad see ew, fried chicken Pad Thai, and the red curry with steamed tofu! What I loved about this place too was how much they packed our togo boxes! Most of the time when you takeout from places, they often don't seem to give you as much as when you'd dine in, but that didn't feel like the case here. Delicious Thai food for sure too!

Yelp
Probably the best cream cheese wonton anywhere. They toasted perfectly crispy. The main dish I had was Stir Fried Vegetable with peanut sauce. I thought was well cooked tasted great. The restaurant was very neat and clean despite being wedged between a massage parlor and a novelty sex shop.

Chae S.

Yelp
I grew up in LA, where there is a Thai Town in Hollywood filled food delicious Thai food. I also visited Thailand and tried a bunch of restaurants. I honestly think this is the best Thai food I've ever had. Well, at least the 2 dishes that I frequently order via ubereats. Spicy Fried Rice (most places have soggy rice in Utah), but this is sooooo good! Pad thai and pad krow pow is also yummy!
google avatar

Megan A.

Yelp
I love, LOVE this place. Oh my god. The food is just incredible. It's always very clean and nicely designed, and the service is great. I mainly get the Thai fried rice with crispy chicken and pad see ew with beef. Cannot recommend Sala enough. (:

Yelp
In a strip mall that is sort of seedy. I was sort of not bought in when we decided to head in. But it seemed pretty popular. It was pretty empty when we walked in, and my spider senses were tingling. I was thinking about how fast I could run, and maybe I was okay because I just needed one person to be slower. But the food was down home and comforting. I had a big bowl of curry and rice, and it hit the spot. It had plenty of goodies and I thought it was tasty. I think the fourth star was lost because we couldn't get the bill. It took forever and there was only one other party in the place. But it's really all about the food.

Julie K.

Yelp
I did not know there was thai Beef noodle soup. It's wintertime,so why not try it. And I do love to eat phos. Sala always uses fresh, good quality ingredients. I trust their meat quality. Guess what? If people out there love Pho, you should try beef noodle soup. It is more flavorful than Pho. Now I have one more favorite Thai dish.
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
Second time here. Friendly service and the food is amazing. Started with Spring Rolls and then Drunken Noodles and Crab Fried Rice. The fried rice was the best I have ever had. So good! Highly recommended.
google avatar

Luis P.

Yelp
These are new owners that kept the same name when they acquired the business 2 years ago. So I wouldn't put much stock in any review older than two years. I had the fresh spring rolls with shrimp. A spicy sweet and sour dipping sauce plus a peanut sauce gave them the perfect taste. I also had the wonton soup. Very good and hits the spot on a chilly night. They provide spicy sauce on the side if you'd like soup with a kick. Service was attentive, friendly and welcoming. They answered questions about how they make homemade sauces. I'd come back the next time I'm in town for business. It was quiet for a Friday so stop by and let's keep this business busy, growing and successful.
google avatar

Gerald J.

Yelp
In my experience, Sala is a hit or miss. I guess it depends upon who is in the kitchen. The quality of the ingredients, spices and spice level, and even the rice is inconsistent

Dayton W.

Yelp
Unbelievably great food! Some of the best food I've ever had and service as well. The location isn't the best but it must be overlooked.

Harvey M.

Yelp
Probably the worst service I've ever received. food was almost okay. Definitely won't return
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Thai food! All the usual suspects plus a few surprises. Flavors are strong and balanced. Want some Peruvian with your Thai! They have you covered. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We've tried nearly every Thai food restaurant in the downtown area, and this place is our favorite by far. We order to go several times a month. I have only had their curries (yellow, massaman, and pineapple) and I've loved each one. There's a good amount of veggies in the curry and the meat (whether beef or chicken) is always tender. The owners are really nice, and have gone out of their way for us. If you're looking for great Thai food, go to Sala Thai Kitchen.

Michele H.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! Everything was delicious. Authentic Thai food with great service.

Yelp
Fantastic lettuce wraps and curry . Service was fantastic ! Reasonable prices and good dize portions. The Ambiance was also good . Don't miss this place !

Yelp
I have eaten here multiple times when I have visited Salt Lake City and it never disappoints. The food is hot and fresh, the service is nice and the overall restaurant is clean. I love Thai food and the people. Well worth your time when you are in town.

Yelp
We were in town for a couple of days and craved Thai food. So very happy to have discovered this neighborhood gem. We went without reservations and were happy to be greeted by a sweet woman who also turned out to be our server. She set the stage so beautifully with her courteous manner and nice smile. We ordered: Calamari as an appetizer and were very pleasantly surprised by how tender it was, not at all the gummy or chewy. Stir-fried noodles with Shrimp, Squid, Scallops, Mussels, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, celery, bell peppers and egg with house special Yellow curry sauce, Topped with, scallion Panang chicken curry in coconut milk with Kaffir lime leaves, carrots, and broccoli. Served with Jasmine Rice. Everything we ordered was scrumptious...we savored every bite. What made our experience even more delightful is the extra special service with a smile. The setting was also quite nice and simple, unlike some over-decorated Thai restaurants. So glad our first dining experience in Salt Lake City was at this place. We finished dinner fully satisfied and happy with our choice. Salt Lake City is lucky to have this really good Thai restaurant. Sala Thai is a winner!

Sonia Z.

Yelp
I always enjoy Thai food so I often have high expectations for the Thai food restaurant. We got a lot of food for dinner including desert and drinks. The pad Thai was great. The eggplant was tasty. I love the garlic and basil flavors. But the Thai tea was a little disappointing cuz it's just sugar tea
google avatar

Christina P.

Yelp
The mango salad was truly made with love. The picture does not do it justice! It was so full of vibrant color. Tangy lime dressing, fresh shredded vegetables, steamed tofu. Citrus, sweetness, and a slight spice. Topped with crumbled peanuts. It was so filling. I ordered the jasmine tea as well. I feel both energized and relaxed from this perfect meal and friendly service.

Yelp
Came here on a whim because the place we were headed was randomly closed. Honestly, glad we came! Boyfriend wanted the shrimp tempura appetizer, I wanted veggie tempura. We compromised and got the shrimp tempura. Surprise, it came with veggies! I was thrilled. The dipping sauce was sweet and yummy. The batter for the shrimp and veggies was really good, too. Good choice. I had drunken noodles, which I tend to get even though I've had iffy experience with them before. They were not overly spicey, still flavorful and a good portion. Many places around town come with the same price tag but 1/4 the serving size. I was pleasantly surprised. The veggie fried rice was good, the spice level was on point and it was fresh and tasty. The service was polite even though we came in about 40 minutes to close. I was overall impressed, and we will definitely be back.

Kevin N.

Yelp
The food and service are excellent. The owners have been working at major restaurants around the world and we are so lucky to have them open up shop here in SLC. Our daughter spent 18 months in Thailand and this is also her favorite restaurant in town. Great menu with a number of interesting dishes but also nails the classics. We love their green curry and papaya salad.
google avatar

Kat S.

Yelp
Placed a to-go order on a Wednesday afternoon for pickup. Loved that they had an option to place an order online as it was convenient to order ahead and there was adequate parking in the shopping area Sala is located. The price was reasonable compared to other Thai restaurants I've ordered from, especially reasonable for being located in downtown SLC. The pad that was flavorful and had a good amount of chicken throughout. I also liked that the lunch special came with a choice of soup or salad and an egg roll. I also ordered a side of Tom Yum soup, which was good but not the best I've ever had. I also wish the soup was spicier or had the option to pick the spice level when ordering online. Small critique but I will be back to try additional dishes!

Yelp
New lunch menu for 2022 but still $9.95 with side salad or soup included. Chicken is included in price but I upgraded my Pad Pra Ram with shrimp for $2.50 and got 5 good sized shrimp, a great deal. Served freshly cooked and steaming hot. Delicious, a super solid place.
google avatar

Terri T.

Yelp
Hands down, this is the BEST Thai place. The food is outstanding, and the owners work really hard in providing good service; they always have a smile and bend over backwards to accommodate you. The Fresh Mango with sweet sticky rice in coconut milk seriously just melts in your mouth. Truly a Salt Lake gem!

Huat C.

Yelp
So last night i went to have dinner with my family here again but after 2 years they change owner. Things isn't the same. 1. We got dirty cups 2. Didn't get menu for 5 mins so we were their playing with our phones or just chatting. 3. Some of the food items isn't on the menu 4. The portion size are smaller now 6 They didn't turn on the AC so the place was hot so I was sweating the whole time I was eating at that place.
google avatar

Melhaine G.

Yelp
Had delivery. Chicken lettuce wraps. We're good. Sauce was super sweet. Crab ragoons were good but little over cooked. But very tasty. Would order again.
google avatar

Glenn W.

Yelp
the rice was hard, they didn't put enough water in the rice cooker or something, extremely hard to mess up in my opinion just use a measuring cup. the pad thai was bland so we needed to ask for chili, curry was okay just not much other flavor than coconut, and the soup was okay too but extremely strong lemongrass flavor and nothing much else. i didn't expect it to be great but at almost $20 a plate, this was ridiculous and i'd rather make everything myself for half the price

Pedro L.

Yelp
Food both tastes and looks great, restaurant is beautifully decorated and the service is very friendly.
google avatar

Doug L.

Yelp
This is the best Thai food you will find in Utah. I've been here dozens of times, dine in and take out, and I have never had a bad experience. The staff is always super kind and they go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of. The stir fry, drunken noodles & tom yum nam are my go to. I Highly recommend stopping in!!

Yelp
After a long long drive to SLC. I was super excited to see a Thai place so close to our hotel!!!! We arrived at little after 6 and were seated immediately, the only other part was a large group of people that were finishing their meal up. With the restaurant being empty I was surprised how long it took for someone to come over and take our order. We went with an order of chicken satay, pad Thai yellow curry with chicken (both with and with out carrots) The staff was very accommodating with dietary restrictions of not having carrot, which is a great thing. But the food was just ok. The satay was dry and over cooked sadly, the peanut sauce was delicious though. And the curry had a much thinner sauce than I am used to. Would we go again? Probably not, but for quick affordable Thai I can not complain.
google avatar

Grace B.

Yelp
hiked angels landing after an early morning and then devOURED this pad thai. the sauce was . super easy spot to eat with any gluten / dairy restrictions
google avatar

Christopher W.

Yelp
Ordered delivery. The Pad Thai was perfect. I ordered it spicy and it had a ideal spice and flavor balance. If I had any suggestions I would say the peanut sauce with the spring rolls could have a mor dynamic flavor.
google avatar

Letisia S.

Yelp
The place was clean and the staff was kind. Only one person out of 5 liked their food though. There was miscommunication as well as to what items come with rice or not. The price was as most Thai restaurants are, a bit expensive.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Popped into town and tried this place out. Decor is nice. Met the owner and he seems nice too--he ended up prepping our table. Pineapple fried rice was delicious.

Liz R.

Yelp
Great and very tasty food. Saul and Pop are very attentive. Great customer service! I highly recommend this place! A+ you should open a Sala Thai Kitchen in California.
google avatar

Jimmy M.

Yelp
We visited Sala last week for the first time. Ours was one of only two tables. The server never checked our beverages for refills, nor did he check on us after the entrees were served. We had been looking forward to Thai, yet the food was mediocre to OK at best, & it was all served at nearly room temp. We'll never return.
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
Excellent food, had the crab fried rice and the drunken noodles. Both were very good and authentic.
google avatar

Nidhi M.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on one of the weekend nights during our visit to Salt Lake City. The menu has all the thai place regulars. We ordered green curry with tofu. The veggies were a little bit raw to our taste but the over all flavors were really good. The restaurant was quite empty perhaps because of the location. The service was regular, as expected.
google avatar

Heena D.

Yelp
Came here in a Monday at 5 PM, right when they open, because my Groupon was expiring the next day. I was immediately seated in a booth and within the hour I saw the place get a few more customers. I ordered vegetarian pad Thai and the yelp famous koh sai with tofu. The vegetarian pad Thai was great! A decent amount of vegetables, well balanced sauce, and a crap ton of noodles. These portion sizes are huuuge. You could definitely split one dish between two people. The koh sai was not was I was expecting. The vegetables don't come cooked in the dish so I was eating raw onions, cabbage, broccoli, and carrots with the curry / noodles. The curry is also very light and doesn't pack as much of a punch as the massaman or panang. The tofu and the noodles were really great though. Again, huge portion size. Could barely finish a fourth of each dish. Service was good, the waitresses are very attentive. I'd come back if I was in the area.
google avatar

Sandra R.

Yelp
Looking for some delicious Thai?...well give Sala a try! We ordered take out for our family and the meal was ready 15 minutes earlier than estimated. It was very hot when we arrived home with our meal. We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Tofu Pineapple Rice, Tom Ga soup. We ordered all of it medium spice which was just right for our taste, made our noses run a bit, but not too much heat on the tongue.

Yelp
Let's get a review of someone who doesn't know these guys. Fabulous spot next to Brewvies, this is a great change of pace from the much loved bar type food. This could be a cool block for dining. These guys just opened up so the word hasn't gotten out so don't let the spaciousness make you think twice. I hope they keep the stage and use it in the future. The staff is pretty friendly and attentive. I started off with some curry puffs, one of my favorites! they were flaky and tasty but a bit mushy near the middle. The sauce it comes with was really tasty. I'd still recommend it though. For the main entree I decided on the Koi Soy with chicken, because they are the THIRD Thai place that says they are the only ones to make Koi Soy. :) It looked great coming out, I liked that they use two noodles in the dish, crispy and the rice noodles that you'd find in Pad Thai. As I stirred the noodles around I discovered it definitely was chicken, a whole drumstick was in there. The meat was just falling off the bone, yum. The curry has decent flavor and left a slight tingle on my lips. Another yum. It's a solid 3.5 stars based on my first experience. I would really need to go back a couple of more times to see if it deserves a solid four and maybe even a 5 star. So if you want a place kinda downtown but don't want the hassle of downtown parking, give these folks a try. Especially for lunch since it looks like they have lunch specials.
