"What once was El Centro D.F. on 14th Street is now Mission Group’s multi-level Salazar, serving up quesadillas, bacon-wrapped Sonoran hot dogs, and 50 types of tequila. The expansive rooftop is made for all-weather conditions, with a lengthy bar and a retractible roof." - Tierney Plumb, Vinciane Ngomsi

We hosted a great event last week in the basement! The bartender, Caroline, was wonderful and the manager, Toby, made sure we were well taken care of. It was a great venue and they were able to make sure everything was perfect for our event on very short notice. So grateful for them and always happy to spend a fun night at Salazar!!

Rooftop dance parties with DC's hottest DJs and our famous Bell Shot Challenge are just the beginning. Come see for yourself what a true DC party experience looks like! SALAZAR is a playground for the night owl and a place where the night is always young and the fun never stops. Located on the bustling 14th Street corridor, SALAZAR offers an oasis for those who love tequila and tacos. The large space features four bars, including two on the rooftop, one on the main floor under the iconic DRINK TEQUILA DAILY neon grass wall and one in the large basement, where the DJ holds court and dancing on the banquettes is not only encouraged but expected. You haven't had a DC party experience unless you've thrown an ice shot at our giant rooftop bell and there's no judgement if you need to do a second or third to win the challenge. There is never a cover and we have DJs on weekend nights, all day on Saturday for our day parties and on holidays. Large groups are always welcome here, with a variety of private and semi-private spaces available for groups. They don't believe in room fees and the booking process is as stressful as possible. Whether it's for daily happy hour, bottomless margaritas at brunch, Taco Tuesday, late night Thursday specials or on the dance floor, they hope to raise a glass with you soon.

Google
Three of my friends and I hosted a joint birthday party at Salazar's last Friday. They supplied us with a private spot with no fees or minimums. The staff was wonderful and incredibly hospitable from the managers to the bartenders. I didn't have a chance to try the food in particular, but gave a 5/5 because the cocktails were amazing! We had about 40-50 friends stop by for the party and we had so many compliments about the venue and people saying how much fun they had.

Google
I had an amazing time reserving an area at Salazar for the after party of my wedding! Booking the area was SO easy and we felt very taken care of! We were able to reserve the space at no cost and then everyone could pay for their own drinks (which were delicious). The space on the first floor with direct access to the bar was perfect for a lively atmosphere, but not too crazy or loud for those who still wanted to talk. Our guests who wanted to keep the party going even later went down to the basement area for the true going out vibe. Would highly suggest for anyone looking to extend the party of their wedding (or other event) or for a birthday party!

Google
We reserved Salazar for a fundraising event and they were so helpful throughout the planning process and provided everything we needed for a successful event! On the day of the event the service was phenomenal and the staff went above and beyond to help us out. Everyone who attended had an amazing time. The food, drinks, ambiance and music were great!! Salazar is an awesome place to host an event! Thanks for everything!

Google
I hosted my birthday party at SALAZAR and had a great experience coordinating with the event staff prior to and on the day of the event. Solid communication and very accommodating. Good vibes on the rooftop, especially with the DJ. All of my friends had a fun time! We would absolutely go back here.

Google
All honesty, I came across Salazar via a TikTok for “cheap happy hours” and to my surprise, the happy hour was very reasonable and the food was good! I’d you’re wanting more of a crowd, go later like past 8pm. When we got there at 6:30, it wasn’t full. We ordered the chicken and cheese quesadillas, pretty much every taco, and chips & salsa! Would definitely try again!

Google
I hosted a birth brunch this past weekend at Salazar and it was the best experience ever. Event coordinator was amazing and responded to emails in timely manner. I had a party of 17 people and everyone loved the food and drinks. I picked this location because I love the margarita options for brunch and let me tell you they did not disappoint. Food was great, atmosphere and music were amazing. Everyone had a great time and I couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere on the rooftop! Plenty of seating, great natural light / fresh air from the partially open roof, and friendly service. I came during happy hour which has plenty of good specials every day of the week--tacos are packed so two is enough for a full meal.

Yelp
Cute little spot ! We had the nachos and I also had the pork belly taco which was also really good! Well priced for dc both drinks and food! Service was friendly and fast and would return during the day !

Yelp
Came for a friend's going away party (she reserved the rooftop) and it was pretty fun! We sampled the chips, margaritas, I had a GREAT Paloma cocktail, and an Al pastor taco which was tasty! It never turned into a dance party like I hoped, and I'll ALWAYS miss El Centro brunch (RIP ), but I'm willing to give this place the benefit of the doubt and come back again!

Yelp
Salazar is a really fun bar! From the bell to throw shots at to the ample space for dancing and general mingling, it's an easy spot for a fun event. The churros were an easy highlight of the night despite the fun activities, company, and tasty drinks. They were light and flavorful with a chocolate dip that complimented the cinnamon perfectly. The chipotle chicken taco was exactly what I needed to pair with my margarita. The server went out of their way to find me amidst the crowd which was much appreciated. I'm excited to go back when the weathers a little warmer so I can better enjoy the rooftop experience!

Yelp
I came here for a friends brunch and we had a great time. The food that was served to us was buffet style and was good. They served quesadillas, tacos, brunch potatoes, different style dips. And they had bottomless drinks that included mamosas, margarita, two types of beers. The management was very nice to work with. Igor was the manager on duty and he was very kind and accommodating! The bartender was super sweet as well! We were in a nice sized room in the back They also have a roof top where there's another bar and music! Over all good brunch experience

Yelp
My daughter had a showcase next door so we stumbled across this restaurant completely by accident. I'm glad we did because we had a great time. We chose to dine in for brunch at the open area counter area near the entrance. There was no window there so it was great for people watching. The service was great and prompt. I ordered the breakfast burrito, the guacamole, and a cheese quesadilla for my daughter. Everything was SO good. I took half of my burrito home with me and it also reheated well. I'm so glad I found out about Salazar and I plan to go back soon. I want to check out the upstairs areas.

Yelp
I was struggling to find a venue for a post-wedding mixer that didn't have a large minimum spend requirement until I discovered SALAZAR. Working with Angela and the team was incredibly easy, and they were very accommodating with all my requests . On the day of the event, I was initially nervous about how things would unfold. However, the food was terrific, and the service was seamless, with trays being replenished as soon as they were finished. The bartenders kept the drinks flowing, and all my guests had rave reviews about every aspect of the service. We definitely plan to host another event at SALAZAR.

Yelp
I have been meaning to leave an outstanding review as I frequent this establishment. As soon as you enter, you are welcome to buy a top-notch hostess who made me feel welcomed and clearly directed patrons to table service and bar seating. I tend to find myself at the upstairs bar most often. Anne is a wonderful bartender she makes great drinks, is friendly, and attentive. I absolutely love their strawberry margarita, it's one of my favorite drinks in the district due to their use of real fresh strawberry purée vs the sugary grenadine type flavoring that fuels an instant hangover. It's refreshing and delicious I crave them and honestly wish all mission group restaurants offered the strawberry Marg - but it's a treat I can only get at Salazar. And finally the food. You would think since this place has a reputation of being more of a club and nightlife scene the food would be mediocre but that certainly isn't the case - I have loved every dish I have tried. The huevos Rancheros are a standout and that is a dish I order often at brunchy spots and of the ones I've tried Salazars is in the top tier. Truthfully you can't go wrong. They also offer lots of good specials and happy hour deals so it's very affordable for DC and a great value for the price since it's delicious and comes with great service. I have only been during brunch and happy hours but I hear it gets quite lit during late night and I look forward to checking that out soon. The crowd here always seems like really fun and cool people vs the Navy Yard crowd you get at mission which is another plus if you ask me! Definitely worth stopping by Salazar!

Yelp
Salazar is a total gem! I can't count how many birthdays, happy hours, and unforgettable events we've had here. Our organization loves to book out the basement and rooftop, and every single time, Salazar brings the energy and the flavor. Let me tell you--the shrimp tacos are legendary! Paired with one of their spot-on margaritas, you're set for a fantastic time. The vibe is always on point, and the staff makes everything so seamless. If you're looking for amazing food and a place that knows how to throw a party, Salazar is it! Treat yourself--you'll be back for more!

Yelp
Hosted a birthday party here and had such a great time! Everything was so easy and the bartenders and staff were extremely nice. Would recommend for sure!!

Yelp
Good food, great HH specials and friendly staff. Have been twice so far and each time I've enjoyed the experience. Two level setup with bars on each. Rooftop has a pretty cool glass bell shot "attraction" so pretty cool. Will aim to make it back for a nighttime event soon.

Alan O.

Yelp
Salazar was the perfect location to host a party with my friends! Great location, private area, and excellent service- they really made sure we were all taken care of. Will definitely use mission group events again.

Yelp
Salazar did an amazing job hosting my event! Service was super friendly, the space was perfect, and it was a great party thanks to the Salazar team!

Yelp
This place is alright. It has good happy hour prices. It's definitely a spot for the younger crowd. Think of it like a college bar/party spot. Everything is sticky and smells like a frat party. I suppose it is very successful as a going out spot. The food/drinks here weren't good, but they were cheap for happy hour. Service was adequate. Probably wouldn't return because I'd prefer to go to a spot that doesn't feel sticky/unhygienic.

Brett S.

Yelp
Salazar is a fantastic establishment with a clear sense of style and a very unique one at that in the DC ecosystem. The staff is so friendly and are all very helpful and knowledgeable. A highlight is that there are no extra fees associated with booking an event at any Mission Group venue. It's also a very easy process to book an event with a responsive staff. Each venue feels family-run, which is impressive at the scale of one of the largest groups in DC. If you like Salazar, you should absolutely check out Royal Sands (another Mission Group venue). Lastly, Taco Tuesday is a must-do.

Yelp
You must have ID upon entering. Please is clean, and music.popping. The quesadilla was delicious and held me over while I was in lime at the Black Cat.

Yelp
I gotta say I enjoyed the heck outta myself at this place. Formerly El Centro, I have found myself coming for a more bar focus now rather than for brunch like I did with the previous establishment. One time was a part of a self-led holiday crawl where I was trying different spots with holiday decor... it was a blast then! Let's not talk about the bell challenge... I failed miserably LOL. But more recently I came to meet a couple folks for a casual happy hour. I started with food, getting some black bean quinoa & mango shrimp tacos. I... wasn't even hungry, but the tacos were phenomenal. I have some top-rated taco spots on the MD side, and this was the best thing I'd had since going to those places. the BBQ taco (as I will now call it LOL) was the perfect veggie taco and I'd send my sister there to check it out! I loved the mango shrimp too, but the BBQ definitely stole the show for me. I sipped on a margarita as well, which was a pretty darn good margarita... oh, that's right! I got chips & salsa too! That salsa was banging! I'd come back for the food easily! I'll be back for sure! Especially on Thursday, when HH is all night! :)

Yelp
I hosted an event with the Salazar team and I could not recommend them enough!! Angela and Kaylee were SO helpful, they went above and beyond to ensure my event was a success and that all my attendees were taken care of. The staff is excellent from top to bottom and the venue is SO cute and fun. There are also multiple floors so there is a vibe for everyone here! :) I can't recommend them enough, 100/10!!!

Yelp
Okay so looking at the brunch menu, I was sold! Bottomless drinks and tacos, I had to at leeeeast try it out! Unfortunately, mid is the first word that comes to mind after my brunch experience. A group of friends and I went here for a Saturday brunch service and were reminded upon entry that we had a 90 minute reservation and that it started as she was seating us. No problem, grateful for the reminder. Our server comes over and we immediately order drinks, another 90 minute reminder. Another person joined the party, another 90 minute reminder, this time with a little sass as the server said she "wished we had told her more people were coming because the clock started." The late person ordered yet had to wait 15 minutes or so for her drink. She mentioned it being a little weird that the same place repeatedly reminding us of the 90 minute limit was so slow in getting food and drinks out. I am pretty sure we were reminded about five times about the 90 minute limit. The tacos came and were alright, nothing to call home about. The best part of the experience was when our server brought out the pitchers of mimosas and margaritas. Due to the slow service, every time she came to our table, at least three people needed refills. She eventually brought the pitchers and though she made it seem like she was doing us a favor, it seemed mutually beneficial. I would not recommend going here for brunch and think even if food was mid, service could have definitely ben better.
google avatar

Kate H.

Yelp
I'm not even a tequila person, but the original margaritas here are delicious. Weekday happy hour runs 4-7 and the deals are great--specifically $1 chips and salsa, which were surprisingly good considering the price. Staff was super friendly, too. Might have to come back for the weekend brunch (which is bottomless, of course). Also, always love the option of rooftop seating! Both for enjoying the last of the warmer weather, and reducing COVID risk.
google avatar

Brittney W.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this spot as I ventured off of U St and it is so cute. I only came in to check out the place and grab a shot, but ended up ordering some chips and salsa. The salsa wasn't too bad. While there, I saw that you can order a shot in an ice glass and throw it at the bell. If you go, please do that! It's a nice little touch. The bartenders were also sweethearts. I did not stay past 10pm because it was getting crowded. When I left, there was a longgggggg line down the black of people trying to get in. I will be back to try out their Taco Tuesday since they have a pescatarian option! #excited

Daniel G.

Yelp
Grabbed a round last night and didn't get a receipt. I checked my account today and was severely overcharged.

Yelp
Visited Salazar a few months back and had a great experience! We visited on like early evening weekday so there really weren't too many people! They have a rooftop bar which features a bell were you can through your empty ice cup shot which was actually pretty fun! As far as the food we ordered steak and chicken quesadillas and i didn't read the menu thinking they quesadillas would be pretty simple but they had a lot going on. The chicken quesadilla had like corn in them which totally ruined the vibe because i hate corn. The steak quesadilla features jalapeños but it was okay don't remember it having much flavor. Next time i visit I'll definitely go the plain route and just get a cheese quesadilla. The drinks were good and the vibes were really good overall, i would return again for a chill evening. Parking can be tricky, it's DC but we did find street parking across the street from the restaurant.
google avatar

Ree M.

Yelp
Organized a group happy hour Thursday night, and had the best time! All night happy hour on Thursdays, everyone loved it. Drinks were great, food was decent. The team was awesome to work with, organizing the event was a breeze thanks to how responsive they were.
google avatar

Jay J.

Yelp
Thank you so much to our bartender Edwin for such a great night! He took care of our party of six with ease and was such a joy to talk to!!
google avatar

Alesia S.

Yelp
This had been on my list of places to visit for a while. Stopped by after trying to visit another place on the area, that ended up closing early. Made it in right in time for happy hour. Ended up getting a Mexican tea shot, the chipotle chicken roll up and a pitcher of margaritas. Everything was very good. The bartender was engaging and able to provide some great recommendations. I'd definitely return for a chill Sunday vibe again.
google avatar

Jas L.

Yelp
Came here for a girls night out and had a blast! It was a super cute bar with multiple levels/bar areas. We were a table of 8 and we got seated up stairs. There was music blasting and the roof top was open to give the ultimate DC vibe. We ordered two of the Salazar Marg Pitchers, it was a lot of lime but it was tasty. We also ordered a variety of meals to try and share; we had the steak quesadilla, the chicken quesadilla, chips and salsa, queso, and chicken tacos. We enjoyed everything we tried but my favorite was the chicken quesadilla! Also, while you're here you have to order a round of ice shots (tequila of course), once you take the shot, you get to throw the shot glass at the giant bell, and everyone will cheer if you hit it! SO FUN! I highly recommend as a pregame spot to eat and grab a fun drink before you hit the town! #JassyJEatsApproved
google avatar

Dennis S.

Yelp
Tacos were amazing and the service by Lynette was other worldly. Highly recommend Get the steak and pork tacos
google avatar

Lily N.

Yelp
It's chill here, expect I got some of my belongings stolen. I had stuff stolen out of my purse I'm mad asf. Has nothing to do with staff, but with people in crowd.
google avatar

Herbert E.

Yelp
Good Food, Good Vibes 'Ello Chaps, Salazar is a multi-level bar, restaurant, and event venue in Washington, D.C.. The food menu features a Spanish flare of quesadillas, tacos, chips and salsa - with various drinks such as Tequila, beer, and wine available. For large groups, the food and drink menu may be a bit limited, but it's got a good social atmosphere. Overall I give Salazar four stars out of five.
google avatar

Hunter L.

Yelp
So many great things to say. We had a large party of 18 for a birthday brunch and the staff, food, and drinks couldn't be better. We had a private area with a dedicated bartender so we got our drinks ASAP. Fritz, who I coordinated with via email, and Angela (sorry if that isn't her name... blame the mimosas!), who was our host the day of the brunch, were amazing to work with. I absolutely would recommend hosting a brunch here!
google avatar

Briana E.

Yelp
One of the best HH/Taco Tuesday spots in the city! Visited Salazar on the first *real* warm day of April for HH on their rooftop bar. It was pretty chill when we arrived around 5pm but became more lively as time passed. They have a few big screens which were playing sports channels. The tunes were Bad Bunny heavy and a few afrobeats sprinkled in so super vibey and for the aesthetic. When seated upstairs there are high tables and seating at the bar, regardless of where you're sitting you order from the bartender. Service was efficient and pleasant. We ordered single margs ($9 on HH)--they're on draft but not weak at all! For food we ordered the queso and guac (not on HH). The prices were a bit steep ($13 and $11 respectively) for the portion size but they were both DELICIOUS! Tacos are $4.50 during HH and all day on taco Tuesday. We tried the steak, shrimp and crispy pork tacos and loved them all. We also got the steak quesadilla ($13) which was supposed to come with a jalapeño crema but maybe we missed that part. It was still good and a nice portion size. The food arrived in a timely manner but not too quick where you feel like it's all just sitting under a lamp. All in all great value for the money. I'll def be back when I need my next taco fix.
google avatar

Munsa M.

Yelp
Came here for an event and I had so much fun!! The music was really good and there was a good amount of space to dance. They had a $6 Mexican tea shot special too so we got a bunch of those!!
google avatar

Paul G.

Yelp
This spot is full of young people energy!! Get drunk and have a damn good time! Probably best to come during happy hour so you can get your money worth.. the music is bumping... No literally bumping feels like your in a rave upstairs on there dance floor. Definitely have to give this spot another go around so I can sample some of those tacossss.

Aneri S.

Yelp
My friend and I booked our joint birthday party at Salazar's kitchen back bar and had such a fantastic time! We were shocked by how straightforward and simple the whole booking process was; we just emailed them with a few details and they responded that they were happy to have us, and that the only requirement was to bring a fun group :) They were very flexible about the # of people arriving, staying longer than initially scheduled, etc. It's hard to believe that a bar/club as popular as Salazar in DC has no minimum fee to reserve a room for an event - I haven't heard of any other place offering this. We feel like we truly lucked out and it was definitely a major factor in us deciding to book here! Highly recommend to anyone for their event space needs. The kitchen back bar was great - lively yet quiet enough to have conversations, and had AC - but if our event hadn't been in the middle of summer we would have probably opted for the rooftop bell room to hear the DJ more and have the bell challenge right there! Thank you again from both of us for making our birthday celebration so special.

J L.

Yelp
My friends and I hosted a joint birthday party at Salazar and had the most amazing time. They allow you to reserve a section for free and were more than accommodating - offering a great DJ who took requests and checking in to see if we needed anything. This is the second gathering I have hosted at Salazar and will keep going back! Great spot for young adults with friendly, attentive staff!

Zoe E.

Yelp
Hosted an event with about 48hrs notice, Fritz responded overnight and had pulled together a package. The upstairs bell bar was perfect for our group of about 40 during an afternoon of people stopping by for drinks. Thank you to the team for hosting us, definitely recommend for an easy semi-private event.
google avatar

Shari D.

Yelp
Check out Salazar if you're looking for an experience reminiscent of your college days. Stopped by here on a Saturday night with tons of peeps in their early 20s, they checked ID's at the door, so have yours readily accessible! Great house margaritas, they're on tap so the consistency remains the same. They have a decent music selection, and pretty good service. Hoping to check out their Taco Tuesday.
google avatar

Max F.

Yelp
Had the best time here for happy hour--was so impressed by the vibe and the service that we decided to stay for drinks and hang out upstairs after eating! Highly recommend the nachos--very good bang for your buck and absolutely some of the best I've had. The manager Chris stopped by and said hi and checked in on us, which made us feel very welcomed. We ended up closing out at our table and getting drinks upstairs after eating! The food is great here but the upstairs becomes very clubby at night. Very fun vibe, will definitely be back!

Yelp
Sunday 4pm Anthonyand miles!! Best waiters!! Brunch is great but only until 4pm. Bartenders very attentive and work with you. Little hole in the wall spot & great!!
google avatar

Reeya A.

Yelp
We hosted a birthday party in the space on the first floor and it was great! The semi private access to a bar and the space itself was well staffed & lively. The music & drinks were great too. We would definitely book a party here again.
google avatar

Constance L.

Yelp
Came late night a while back -- the very top floor was insanely crowded, you couldn't even stand without being shoved in every direction. Lots of drinks spilled on you too. Second floor was empty. Basement is where you should head if you want to have room and good music to dance to!
google avatar

Domonique S.

Yelp
When I walked pass Salazar I thought to myself this used to be a different restaurant but couldn't think of it. It finally clicked and I remembered it used to be El. Centro a restaurant I frequented often during happy hour back in the day with my best friends. Ended up stopping in on a random Sunday because I had a taste for some really good Mexican food and a shot or two of tequila. Luckily Salazar did not disappoint on food, service and of course the tequila. They have happy hour on the weekend as well (YESSSSSS) so I had no choice but to take advantage of that. FYI Happy hour time on the weekends are from 4-6pm. We tried the chicken quesadillas and I ordered nachos off the regular menu. Baby when I tell you the nachos were soo bomb I didn't even notice that I forgot to add a protein to it and ended up eating damn near the whole sheet pan smh (don't judge me). Margaritas and shots were a must and can't remember how many were had. Just know it was a good day/night. If you're in the area do yourself a favor and stop by to get some good Mexican food or even a shot or two!

Zoë R.

Yelp
I had a party here and had a great time. Staff was wonderful, food was delicious and the space was great to host. The tacos were a highlight, as well as the margaritas. I would recommend hosting a party here or coming just to have fun!
google avatar

Chell H.

Yelp
Uhhh what was that?? Stopped in for happy hour. The margaritas were pretty good & the rooftop was a chill vibe but babaaaayyyy the service was.....bad! Idk if we had a waiter or not because we sat at a table (not the bar) but we had to keep getting up to place orders at the bar. We asked the bartender if there's a waiter or not. He just shrugged. We placed our taco order and they brought us the wrong items twice. The chicken quesadilla had a HUGE BONE in it...still mind blown about that. Overall happy hour was a bust. No need to go back.

Maia H.

Yelp
Drinks and food were so so so good! Get the sweet chili chicken & the classic margarita. And Edwin at the bar was so nice!
google avatar

Cailey R.

Yelp
Pretty cool bar. They have a rooftop area that had the nicest bartender. Music was good. They have a shot challenge called the bell shot challenge that was fun.

Gia W.

Yelp
I had an amazing time. The bartender Edwin provided such excellent service and was super informative. For my first visit to DC I'd say this was a 10/10 experience.

Yelp
Where do I begin? Well, to start off, I hosted a little birthday brunch here last year in September for my birthday. It was very fun. The staff was super nice and attentive. Prior to my birthday brunch, I have done happy hours here and the price is very reasonable for what you can get in regards to food and drinks. The food is very good and their drinks as well. I have met a bartenders there that are super welcoming and out going. I did not know that Salazar had a basement dance floor and I went there about 3 weeks ago and wow it does disappoint. The music was on point, the energy in there felt just right and made you want to have a fun night. Lastly, I hosted a company happy hour last week, and honestly hands down, best service. I can proudly say I have been to Salazar multiple times for different occasions, and it's never disappointed one bit. It's been very consistent! Try them out! :)
