Excellent place to eat in West Houston! Family owned and you can tell. The food is fantastically grilled and perfectly cooked to medium rare for me. I had the skirt steak and salmon fillet the first time, and then I ordered the platter which came with flank steak, beef short rib, sausage, and chicken. Everything tasted amazing! I even spoke with the owner (I think) about the Uruguayan jerseys he had displayed with Suarez, Cavanni, and even Forlan who actually visited the restaurant.

Google
You see the excellent steaks and grilled veggies in the reviews… and the lentil soup is perfection! Now see that The Desserts are sweet and delicious. Shown: Crepes, Tres Leches, & Flan. (Malbec in view) Go here for a fun delicious meal from hospitable staff in a cozy “family den” atmosphere.

Google
Excellent food, fast service, great atmosphere. The specials are affordable and definitely worth it, I got the Monday asado special and it came with everything you see in the pictures. I asked for my steak rare and it came out perfectly. I plan on going back.

Google
They specialize in cuta of meat. The portions are generous, tender, and juicy, and the meat is done as you ask for (medium, well-done...). However, I was expecting more flavor. For me, it was like they grilled it without any condiments. The sides were good, and the rosted potatoes the best. I will give it another try with a different cut I order entraña. The coffee is good, strong, and robust And the tres leche is also very good.

Google
Excellent food quality flavour and service. Would certainly recommend this place and I would love to come back here again in the future.

Google
Absolutely fantastic experience at Saldivia's South American Grill on a Monday lunch! This family-owned gem offers authentic Uruguayan and Argentine cuisine in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The Monday lunch special was a standout—tender skirt steak paired with flavorful grilled vegetables and perfectly roasted potatoes. The meal began with a delicious lentil soup, setting the tone for the rest of the meal. Generous portions ensured we left fully satisfied. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience. To top it all off, the chocolate tres leches was the best we’ve ever had—rich, moist, and absolutely unforgettable. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving authentic South American flavors in Houston!

Google
First time there with 2 friends for lunch to celebrate his 60th birthday. Monday lunch is a steak day. It was delicious, and the flavor is just right. The service was fantastic. My ice tea keeps getting refilled. The waiter was very friendly. I you go get there at 11:30 am, very little traffic. After 12 pm, it gets very busy. I'm definitely coming back here. If you love wine, this is a place for you. Note, they have Monday - Friday lunch special.

Paolo Tomasi

Google
We visited because of proximity to our work meeting. Well what luck! Place is amazing, food excellent and service friendly. Saved this on my maps, as I will visit again. We had the entrana for dinner, sausage and empanadas to start. All worth the trip!

Yelp
Good value for the daily special. The food quality is excellent. The customer service is great and fast. The restaurant size is surprisingly large - not obvious from the outside.

Yelp
This is a great place to eat with your colleagues, your wife or your family. It has the South American restaurant feel. The menu was simple but offered a myriad of choices. The house bread with chimichurri was fresh and tasty. The spinach and cheese empanada was great. The Lentil soup was amazing. The bacon wrapped shrimp and entraña were very good. The side veggies were excellent as well. Everything was great until the dulce de leche crepe arrived. It was a reheated crepe, making it chewy and disappointing. Would like to come back and do recommend except for the crepe. Very fast service. They get 4 stars in general.

Rashan D.

Yelp
I had their 12oz. Steak and it was NOT worth the price. The steak was very tough and chewy. The chimichurri sauce wasn't that flavorful either. The veggies were ok, they need to season them. The potatoes were the best thing on the plate. The rice was small in amount and bland. This place felt like a waste of money. I should've just went to Longhorn Steakhouse or Salata...

Yelp
Food was ok but the wait was really long. I rounded up but if possible for decimals I'd rated this plate 3.5-3.74 not exactly at a 4. Food: steak was good, chicken something was ok, and chicken pasta was lackluster and not exactly worth it for the pasta. It was very small. Pasta was an adult portion for my kid. We've had bigger kids portion elsewhere. Kid's streak was the best out of the 3. My daughter said if we come back she'd get the kids steak instead of the pasta. She prefers pasta from Olive Garden to the one here. My chicken with greens was ok. Not amazing but not too great either. French fries kids did not like. It could be fried longer to make it crispier. We barely touched it. Best of the 3 was the kids steak. Asks for the kids menu so the little ones can order of that and you won't be spending ~20$ per kid for adult meals that they won't like.

Yelp
When I first set foot here to scout Belly's UYE in 2016, the aroma of delicious gilling meats brought back memories. Saldivia's South American Grill fulfills my crave for carne asada parties when I lived in South America in my teens. I have been back a few times with my sister, not because of their airline rewards but for their authentic South American flavors and feel-like-home dining experience. I learned a few menu items on that peeked my interests at Saldivia's: Mollejas de res (neck meat) - grilled perfectly with seasoning beyond imagination. Vacio Argentino - ribeye - cooked to perfection Morcilla - blood sausage - savory Empanadas - I am more accustomed with this type of empanadas. Its beef filling was seasoned to my liking. We usually dine here during weekdays. Not a lot of people, but enough customers to make it more memorable. The waitress was very helpful and she never rush us to order. Food came up pretty pronto, even during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soccer Competition. My goal is to come back to try other exotic dishes. Who is with me?

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful!! Great food great service. I loved the atmosphere and when we started our meal with some of best empanadas I've ever had. I'd put more stars if I could.
google avatar

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
My local friend had not been there but had wanted to try it. Place was very comfortable. It was pretty empty early evening on a weekday which we liked so we could talk. Gustavo took great care of us. He helped with recommendations. We both agreed on starting with the Provoleta. It was absolutely delicious! It had tomatoes which I've not had with it at other places but they added the perfect amount of wetness to the dish. Would absolutely get this dish again! We wanted oysters but they were out. We also tried the chicken empanadas. I was shocked at the amount of flavor. Wow! Too bad it was a special- they should go on the permanent menu. Since this was a lot of food already, I decided on the lentil soup and a side order of one lamb chop and steak fries for my main. Once again, the flavor in the soup was a shock and incredible! Would get it again!!! The lamb chop was also delicious. I could eat three in the main dish :) Fries were ok. The tres leches cake was a perfect light dessert. We also tried the quince and cheese dessert. Not sweet enough for me :)

Yelp
Solid lunch specials which is the main reason I go. Go on fridays and Tuesday for their lunch specials the proportions could feed two people. I definitely recommend the chicken special because the meat is juicy, but I felt like the food lacked the extra humph in flavor that I look for.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a cute and quaint little spot, with a good selection of wine to pair with your meals. Yess! The steak with chimichurri sauce was cooked to perfection! Sides were super fresh and tasty also.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious! Great customer service! Steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly!!! Potatoes were really well seasoned. Would def be back!

Yelp
We came on a Saturday night. Great experience , food was delicious. But the live music singer was an experience we will never forget. The service was great and the staff was extremely friendly. I would recommend this place as it was small and cozy with an ambiance second to none. The steaks were so delicious and melted in your mouth. But the music was the thing that threw it over the top. I would recommend this place as we're already planning a return trip soon.

Yelp
It was my first time here we went during our lunch break I was very impressed with this place a bit nervous to try something different. But was I pleased with my options. These portions are HUGE my chicken was like 1 foot long! And the taste was on point. Service was great and the chimi churi sauce wow you have to try it! I'll be coming back here for sure. Also I was told they have live music on the weekends so thats something I want to check out next time.

Yelp
Amazing lunch specials! I've only been once but will definitely be back. Complimentary bread. Delicious empanadas if you want an appetizer. The Monday special was carne asado served with fries/potatoes and vegetables. Came with a soup or salad beforehand too! Definitely recommend - an overall good experience and good service.
google avatar

Yelp
Never notice that this restaurant and is so close to us. Experience was very nice. Food great, nice music on Friday's and Saturdays. 2nd time having dinner there and didn't disappoint. Great service. I think doesn't have a full bar but has wine wich is good enough.

Frank F.

Yelp
La comida es exelente ,ha estado asi por mas de 35 años el servicio es incomparable, exelente y los precios muy accesibles
google avatar

Anthony M.

Yelp
Awesome place, great food, reasonably priced, fantastic service. I will be back for sure!
google avatar

Luba D.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much from outside, but elegant inside, great for a date. They also have wine for sale, we got 2 bottles 50 percent off. Interesting South American dishes with an Italian twist. Recommended. Also live music on Fridays.
google avatar

Holly H.

Yelp
To start they bring you complimentary warm bread with chimichurri sauce. I could have eaten that for my entire meal, but I had to practice self control and stop. We ordered chorizo and provoleta which was so good that I forgot to take a photo first (oops, maybe next time I'll remember). This is hands down one of the best steaks I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection and topped with gooey melted cheese, grilled onions & peppers and all the flavors melded together so perfectly. Then, last we had the dulce de leche crepes which were so good. My husband and I cannot wait to come back here and will probably become regulars very soon.

Yelp
Food was amazing.. I got the steak Nicole! Cooked to perfection.. my husband had the Milanese Napolitana. Super yummy as well. We ordered 2 empanadas, enjoyed those as well. Bread was hot and the chimichurri that came out with the hot bread was great start. Such a hidden gem.

Robert P.

Yelp
Great place! Great people! Never disappointed with the awesome tasting steak and empanadas also Chimichurri sauce! Great wine with a date night vibe. Don't miss out I'm from Uruguay and feel at home at Saldivia's is the spot !

Tiny T.

Yelp
Found this place prior the pandemic, always top notch, great ambiance and great service. Usual spot for family dinners, good selection of Malbec and more.

Ana G.

Yelp
The food is ok Milanesas are good Good portions of salad... Empanadas...no like real argentinian ones! The place on saturday night very ..very noisy I dont recommend for families! Also ..is impossible to talk ..the singer and the speakers are sooo loud for a small place. The owner is not easy too talk! He lack completly of kidness Anyway God guide his heart!

Joshua B.

Yelp
Very good flank steak!!! Owner is nice and knowledgeable. Atmosphere is best described as "curated". My colleague and I very much enjoyed our food and the service was perfect.

Yelp
During these "quarantine" times with takeout being our only option for eating out, I recently visited one of my favorite restaurants in Houston for lunch and brought it home. I have been a fan of Saldivia's for a long time but usually for dinner. With a nice atmosphere, good service and delicious food it has never disappointed. Each weekday they offer a lunch special for $11.95. One Wednesday it was a large pork chop with mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, french bread along with beef and chicken vegetable soup. It was almost 20 minutes after picking it up before I got home but everything was still hot and fresh. The thick cut chop was so flavorful and the best one that I've had in a long time. The whipped potatoes looked like white clouds and were so smooth, almost creamy good. Another standout was the soup. It was chocked full of ingredients and the broth was tasty. This was a 5 star lunch and what a value too! I returned on a Friday for the 1/2 roasted chicken with fries, grilled veggies, french bread and a salad. Again when I arrived home everything was still hot (except for the salad) and absolutely delicious. The chicken was definitely on the large end of the scale and it was juicy lucy and seasoned perfectly. I really enjoyed the fries, veggies and salad too. A quality meal that totally satisfied me like the previous one. Saldivia's easily warrants a 5 star review from me again. I look forward to returning for a sit down meal soon.

Yelp
To start with, the service was great. It wasn't very crowded on a Wednesday night and we got lots of attention. The food was very good and there was a lot of variety. The steak was good just right and the vegetables were also done very well. Looks like it would be a great place to go for date night.
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem with delicious lunch specials! I came on a Thursday, so I got the brochettas special. You can cook the beef kabobs to your preference, and it's bursting with flavor. The roasted vegetables and potatoes were a great compliment to the dish. You also get the choice of a soup or salad. I opted for the soup and love the taste! It was very homey. I'm glad I found this place on Yelp and definitely plan on going again and trying their different specials.

Sonny K.

Yelp
Excellent neighborhood restaurant. Been enjoying for years. Lunch specials are first class.
google avatar

Alan S.

Yelp
It's easy to drive past this place, but I would suggest that you give it a try. I had the lunch special for only $13 which was a lot of food. The chicken milanesa was cooked to perfection and the potato salad was on point. They even give you your own little thing of chimichurri sauce and a piece of fresh bread. The only thing that I didn't love about this place was the salad. The dressing or the greens were just a little too bitter/tart for me.

Mercedes R.

Yelp
Wow! I cannot believe that we haven't been here until now. I had the soup and their special skirt steak! Highly recommend, we are definitely coming back ! The young lady running the place is the owners daughter. She is so good at running the restaurant!
google avatar

Christie N.

Yelp
Very disappointed in the food. For the price I paid I could've dined elsewhere for cheaper and better food. The meats were under season, tough and really hard to swallow. My boyfriend rave that their pork chop Weds is a hit. I have yet to confirmed that but we both agreed this was once of the worse meal and pricey at that.
google avatar

Yelp
Ven a este restaurante si te gusta la comida sur americana carnes pollos y más! Algo diferente y con sabor casero

Yelp
My bride and I love food. But, when given a choice, she will always ask for an Argentinian "gaucho" menu. Upon entering this restaurant I have to admit, I felt a little un-easy. Argentina Steak houses are not Chili's prices, so I always expect a little higher class of restaurant. I will say, it had a home cooked meal feeling, so for the Uruguay'os and Argentinians that come here, I'm sure they feel at home. The bread with the Chimichurri OUTSTANDING!!! Warm pre-sliced bread, flaky crust, soft inside. Well balanced chimichurri, light garlic plenty oil, oregano and basil well balanced. We had empanadas for an appetizer. Yes, I'm a Gordo, I like to eat. The meat empanada was good, but the spinach and cheese and insanely good. A little chimichurri mix in to it was great. The parrillada completa came out. Steak was still sizzling with light chimichurri on it, sausage and chicken. Wow!! The steak was perfectly cooked the sausage was AMAZING and I'm not a fan of feathers, but that chicken was amazing. We did have to try out the flan. With cajeta on top, I'm never going to be the same. Very good flan. Not too sweet, just perfect. Overall, I will definitely return, maybe a company dinner here!!!??

Sky P.

Yelp
Food was ok. Service was ok. If you want basic Argentina cusine that is ok and a tad over priced go here.

Linda P.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!! The chimichurri is delicious.. well.. everything I had was delicious! The prices were decent and the service was phenomenal. I would definitely go back when back in town
google avatar

Hexenn A.

Yelp
Great place. My fathers favorite. Try the Monday lunch special, it will have you coming back and back and back.
google avatar

Nathan B.

Yelp
In town for work staying at a hotel just up the road. These guys were the best match of decent reviews and very close, so I decided to give them a shot. I've got to say, they knocked it out of the park. Prices are reasonable, steak was perfectly cooked, salad was well dressed, fries were hot and crispy, and literally the best chimichurri I've ever had (not going to lie and pretend I've had a ton of them, but it was really excellent. They have a decent selection of wines and the restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated. Was empty when I went, can't imagine why. Give them a try!

Yelp
I found here at the American Airlines Dining program which gives me miles.I knew this shopping strip.I had been to Koto Japanese restaurant. Here was very international.I could see Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, Japanese, and South American restaurants. I went to the restaurant. It looked open to dine-in. I asked a server about to-go. He said "Si"(Yes). I checked the menu. I saw the chicken milanesa.I decided to try although I had no idea. He said "15 minutes".Actually, it was less than 15 minutes to get to me. I opened it in my room.I was surprised. There were french fries. I couldn't see the chicken. But the chicken was under the french fries. It was too big.I could make 4 chicken sandwiches! lol. The milanesa was good.I googled about it. Wikipedia said, "The milanesa is a South American variation of cotoletta where generic types of meat breaded cutlet preparations are known as a milanesa.".It looked like a typical South American food. It was too big. But I am not an expert of South American cuisine.Saldivia's easily warrants a 5-star review from me. I don't make this restaurant's reviews very bad! Gracious!

G P.

Yelp
The Parillada Completa and sangria our favorite! Love entertainment on Fridays and Saturday, Wonderful staff!!

Peter P.

Yelp
This was a terrible decision, we were going to celebrate a special occasion, made a reservation and arrived on time. We walked through the door there was no one to greet you. There was a podium yo indicate that there is a hostess. We waited for about 3-4 minutes and O assumed there was no one so I said "hello, is there anyone" then I noticed a ball headed guy by the bar, surely he saw us and proceeded to ignore us. At that point I also noticed a few customers were in the restaurant so it wasn't empty. After 5-6 minutes of waiting around we decided to leave. If we have to shout to make noise of our presence at the door after making a reservation, I don't think it's worth it. Furthermore the restaurant had a stench. No regrets we went on to a nice restaurant later. I don't recommend this place!!
google avatar

Jaime G.

Yelp
Excellent meats. Don't get mislead by the storefront! It does not look as a fancy place at all from the outside, the inside is simple, not that fancy but, clean and decent, live piano music and a good selection of wines. The meat was cocked perfectly! A delicious meal, strongly recomendable! The chimichurri sauce is delicious! The oysters with bacon and spinach fantastic, strong flavors. This place is a most to visit while in Houston.
google avatar

Ly N.

Yelp
Someone ate all of the chimichurri... 3 containers full of it... I have to say, the food and service I received here today was way better than what I received at Chama Gaucha recently, and it was only $70 for everything. The PARRILLADA platter WAS $50 and really could feed 4 even though it says it's for 2. The spinach and cheese empanada was really good, the breading was light and fluffy.
google avatar

Allison B.

Yelp
Definitely worth a stop in Houston if you like Uruguayan barbeque or are a big meat eater and want to try something new.....the restaurant's atmosphere was very nice and the barbeque with the morcilla (blood sausage) mollejas (sweetbreads meat) were great. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria which was huge (you could easily split it between 4 people) and the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food we got.
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
What a welcome surprise. I do business in this part of Houston and sometimes have issues finding a good place to eat, especially somewhere to take customers. This place more than fits the bill. Thank goodness a good friend who lives near this place recommended it to me. The strip center it's in is a little sketch, but the interior of the restaurant is very welcoming. Hardwood floors and tastefully decorated. The menu isn't huge, but they definitely know what they're doing. I had the Asado on my dinner visit. Asado in English apparently translates as "the most tender and flavorful boneless short ribs you've ever had." I could eat these things almost every day. They're that good. The grilled vegetables served with it were a perfect compliment. I also had the chocolate tres leches cake for dessert. All I can say is, "wow." Saldavia's is truly awesome, especially considering its location. I highly recommend this place and can't wait for many return visits.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
What a wonderful find! Hubby and I had oysters, sangria and a ribeye that were delightful. There is a live piano player on Fridays that adds a wonderful ambiance, the food was delicious with a bright chimichurri sauce. The owner, staff and chef came by frequently to check in on us. Definitely recommend for birthdays, dinners or any other celebration!
google avatar

Josh G.

Yelp
Doesn't look very appealing g from the parking lot but the skirt steak and the tres leches is very good.
google avatar

Jonathan E.

Yelp
Good restaurant in an unassuming strip mall. Lots of meat dishes plus excellent salmon. Soup and salads were good. Two meals without alcohol were $63 and good value, service was attentive and quick. Will happily go again.
google avatar

Wade S.

Yelp
I chose this for a different dining experience in Houston. Although it's in a strip mall, the restaurant is nice and spacious. I had the Argentine version of veal parmigiana: Milanesa Napolitana. Excellent. Generous portion. Excellent wine selection, with special pricing for To Go bottles. Helpful and friendly staff. Family owned.
google avatar

Nora W.

Yelp
Their steak is so good. Y'all must try and the owner is very nice too . I really love this place
google avatar

Rahul G.

Yelp
I ordered the Entrana medium rare for takeout. They currently have a great selection of wines at attractive prices, particularly for takeout. The steak was the best price/value that I've had in a very, very long time. This place deserves your support. Order some food or go there!

Yelp
I came here with a big group of friends for dinner so I needed a table that would accommodate at least 10 people. It was for a Monday night and so I decided not to make a reservation. It turned out that I was right because the restaurant was pretty empty then; but then again, the 1st presidential debate was also going on that night so people might have decided to stay home and watch the debate instead. Anyway, we were originally seated at a round table that could accommodate up to six people, but I knew I would need a larger table. Since the restaurant was empty, the waitress had no problem moving us to a larger table. I also noted that our waitress was about the only waitress that I saw at the restaurant and this was a pretty big restaurant. I guess the owner/manager was expecting it so he didn't have too many waitresses on the clock. As the attendees started showing up, the waitress brought out some free bread with chimichurri sauce dipping. The bread was just regular bread but when you dip it in the chimichurri sauce? DEELEESHOES! For my main entree, I ordered the Entrana, because STEAK! I also ordered one order of beef empanada for appetizer just to try it out. The appetizers came out pretty quickly for everybody at the table. The empanada was pretty good sized and one order was enough for me or otherwise it would have gotten me too full to enjoy my steak. Not too long after that, the main entrees started coming out for everybody. Well, almost. One of the attendees didn't get her entree until everybody else was already halfway into their meals. You could see her transform from happy to hangry, and she was sitting right next to me! The good thing was she had some good wine to keep her calm. Oommmmmmm namaste. Anyway, my Entrana steak was really good! It was cooked exactly how I wanted it (medium) and it had the right amount of seasoning on it not to make it overwhelming. You could order either 8 oz of meat or 12 oz of meat. Of course you have to order the 12 oz because STEAK!! If you decide to visit Saldivia's and don't know what to get, just order what I did: Beef empanada and Entrana. You'll walk out a happy man. During our dinner, the manager (owner?) came out a few times to check in on us and see how we were doing. From reading all the other reviews, this seems like something that is being done regularly so it wasn't a one off thing. That gesture is always appreciated because normally you only get that kind of treatment at a more high-end restaurant. So good food, reasonable pricing, good wine. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back here.
