"Salero’s four-year-run on Randolph Restaurant Row will end on New Year’s Eve. The West Loop Spanish restaurant is closing, according to the Tribune. Its owner failed to reach a lease extension with the landlord at 621 W. Randolph Street, situated on the same block as Chicago stalwarts Avec and Blackbird. Chef Ashlee Aubin told the Trib that he has no plans lined up after the restaurant closes. Salero’s ownership also runs Wood, the six-year-old restaurant in Boystown. A September fire briefly shut Salero down. Aubin said business had recovered. Add Salero to the list of restaurants closed due to new development or rising rents in the West Loop." - Ashok Selvam

Definitely worth visiting. The dishes were amazing. The paella is excellent. Great ambience and selection of wine.

Overall a very good meal. We decided to focus on the smaller plates instead of the main courses. We had the duck empanadas. The flavor was good but we found the orange sauce a bit overwhelming. We loved the jamon Serrano with the burraalta cheese and a bit of crunch from the fried zucchini flower. The pesto sauce cut some of the richness of the dish. The chorizo stuffed quail was tasty and very easy to eat. We ended the meal with churros y chocolate. The churros were crispy but not greasy. Finally, we had the tomatoes dish which was a perfect summer dish. Service was good and outdoor seating was very nice.

Great food and ambience. Would have liked a little more vegetarian options such as veg paella

Did not try the cocktails but they looked of formidable quality. The food itself was amazing, from starter to dessert, with both seasonal and non-seasonal dishes available. The octopus dish was paired with a very nice, tangy mixture between a salad and pickled veggies. Friendly service, nice ambiance.

We went there with 2 other friends for our birthday dinner. The waitress was mean and kept telling us you 4 together are celebrating your 100yr birthday!!! I think he was trying to be funny by adding our ages and coming up by 100yr(!!!). The menu was heavy on sea food side. We ordered medium well steak, but it was pretty pink inside!!! We also ordered a pitcher of sangria and it was far below expectations. I wont go there again.

Fine dining food without fine dining prices. Portions were just right. The quail and squash tortellini are excellent. Didn't try the paella. Wait staff was on point. The space is much larger than neighboring avec which looks really crammed from the outside. Not a huge selection of food but what was delivered was excellent. Would go again.

It's a bit pricey, but the food is delicious. The wine selection is very good, and there are a variety of price points. The atmosphere was pretty good; a little loud but not so bad as to feel like you have to yell to be heard by your companions.
