Cantina del Bosque Review - La Condesa - Mexico City - The Infatuation
"Cantina del Bosque has a traditional cantina setup—white tablecloths on some tables, mariachis making the rounds—but don’t judge it by its 1937 cover. Unlike most cantinas, del Bosque includes a detailed wine list in addition to mezcal, beer, and bourbon options, but the real winner is the seafood. The sea salt-baked fish is deboned tableside, which is pretty fun to watch, and the giant shrimp (shells still on and grilled in a rich mix of butter and garlic) is another must-order. Make sure to save room for the traditional chocolate mousse for dessert." - Guillaume Guevara
"A traditional cantina dating to 1992 that channels an old-Guadalajara vibe with comfortable booths, friendly service and an emphasis on drinking-appropriate botanas. The signature cold, green 'Hierbabuena' cocktail blends spearmint and ice with tequila or rum, while the food menu features classic bar fare such as tacos de lengua y cachete, espinazo con verdolagas (pork spine with purslane), tortas de camarón con nopales and the hearty tacos de villamelón (beans, steak, chorizo and crispy chicharrón)." - Javier Cabral, Paola Briseño González
We didn't eat, just went there for drinks. We sat at the bar, which we loved. Live piano music and an attentive bartender. Great service, tasty drinks in a really cool atmosphere. The prices were very reasonable for the experience. We'd definitely return if in the area. Prices are dictated on a menu contrary to some of the other reviews.

Looks like a classic bar "cantina" from the 50s, but not that old, is a like a mix between old and new, I don't like that much, I prefer a place with a clear concept, but is not bad. Service is just enough, the best here is the space , it's a huge space and they have parking with valet. Food is nice.

A must in Guadalajara, try the Tacos Villamelon, but everything in the menu is great; they also have a different specials everyday. The cocktails are great. The "Yerbabuena" is their specialty.

It's a family place in an old mansion, with old expensive furniture. It's quiet, perfect for a chat, the service very good. The cecina was great and so the hierbabuena.
