Original Pizza is what it has always been since I first had it many years ago-a place to get a big greasy slice of mall food court pizza. It doesn't aspire to be more, and it shouldn't.
Some have said the salad was dirty, wilted, or otherwise gross. Who the @#$% orders salad at a mall food court pizza place? Yes, they offer salads, but the salad is perfunctory, a nod to the offerings of other full-on pizza restaurants and maybe the changing times. But it's not why Original Pizza is there, and it's not why anyone should eat there.
Apparently many have experienced slow, inconsistent, indifferent, or even rude service. Par for the course at the mall food court. Mall employers, especially food court vendors, won't pay enough to have anyone more than indifferent teenagers manning the oven/register or bitter, life-hating managers. I'd never say anyone willingly endure rudeness, just suggest keeping it simple, sticking to ordering a slice and a soda.
Finally, the pizza itself. No, it's not especially good or authentic NY style pizza, unless measured against similar cheap slice joints in NYC and elsewhere. If it were truly excellently sourced and prepared, it would cost much more and not be mall pizza anymore. But it was tempting to me as a kid tagging along with my mom on a trip to the mall, and just cheap enough to make getting me a slice an easy decision for her.
