Sal's Original Pizza Oak Park Mall Overland Park Kansas. The lighting was mostly mall generated where I was standing. The surfaces were clean. Napkins straws etc were accessible. The pizzas were displayed nicely under I believe heat lights? All looked great. You are eating in the Mall dining area which can get very loud. We went there two days within a week. The first day I had cheese pizza and it looked exactly like 2 Bros Pizza in New York City - Chelsea. Not thin and not thick - crust ( in between). The crust was crunchy and the mix of cheese and sauce were perfect. The next time the crust way thinner and greaser. Much more staff and busier. If the bar was day 1 then day 2 would be a 2.5 out of 5. Drink was good.

My girlfriend told me she used to come here a lot when she was younger, so we ordered a slice of Pepperoni Pizza and it was fantastic. The pizza was hot, fresh, and had amazing flavor. The customer service was good as the staff was friendly and respectful. We waited about 3 to 4 minutes with the slice, and overall I was pleased with the experience. I definitely plan on coming back.

Best pizza in Kc. Been going here since the Bannister mall days. Every location is 🔥. I've always felt welcomed in the stores. Never had 1 complaint

Single pepperoni slice. Hot and fresh. Nice undercarriage. Hardly any flop. Look at the grease puddle! Always a solid choice. Staff is nice.

Google
Oh my goodness, best pizza EVER! Always fresh from the oven, and so fun getting to see them be made behind the counter! And the best part? They make their own dough and sauce in-house, the cheese is shredded and fresh vegetable toppings are cut in-house… this pizza is the REAL DEAL! The service at this location is a lot like the pizza: no matter how you slice it, it’s good! 😊🍕 If you want real, fresh, New York style pizza made by the pros, Sal’s is the place!

Google
The pizza didn't have flavor. The pizza tastes close to store bought. Texture was dry. The pizza wasn't nasty. It just didn't taste good. Nice size portion for pepperoni slice.

This pizza place RIPPED my friend off. First I had to give him a card with what he wanted on it, because he cannot speak good English. He came back with a receipt and for 2 pizza was 14 dollars. Mind you, one slice is 4 dollars and some change, so being the good friend I am i went up there and asked about it, fist asking how much two pizza’s would be, in which he said about 9 dollars. THEN when i mentioned all of that he proceeded to lie and tell me that he also ordered a large Dr Pepper when in fact he didn’t, he doesn’t even drink sodas.

Employee touched food, credits cards, and cash all without changing his gloves. Had to wipe the grease off my card after he handed it back to me. Pizza was ok tho

Yelp
We approached the counter and there were four guys there working. The one slice of pepperoni looked sad so we asked if there was more coming that was fresher. The young man turned away and under his breath, but audible, he said "You don't have to eat here." He was right. And we didn't.

Yelp
best pizza on the planet. They can throw the dough like you would not believe. the ingredients are fresh and good

Yelp
I really like their pizza! It's nice and doughy and chewy with little sauce and a good helping of cheese. It's pretty cheap too! Less than $4 a slice and they have good combo deals. The folks that work here are alright too, attentive and polite. I'd recommend it!

Yelp
There has to be a support group somewhere for people like me who LOVE this pizza and cannot pass it up. Heck, I've made special trips to Oak Park Mall just for the pizza. Forget shopping when they have this pizza there. I am down for pizza. I like how they have so many different kinds of pizza and calzones all spread out for you to choose. I like watching them put it into the ovens and smelling it sizzle. I enjoy watching the employees interactions with one another while I am waiting for my pizza. I like the old school menu board and just everything about the ambiance. This place is not snazzy and not upscale. It is a mall pizza shop and I like that it does not pretend to be anything else. The staff has always been friendly and if you are a regular, like myself.. they greet you by name. The manager even remembered what I got my last trip there. I felt honored. They are always busy, too, which is a terrific sign for a restaurant. One reviewer said the staff fought while he was there. Heck, I consider stuff like that to be part of the charm. It's real, just like the pizza. Pizza- the slices are oh-so-generous and the ingredients are always fresh. Once I picked out a slice of veggie and the worker told me to wait about five minutes and a fresh pizza would be coming out of the oven. How can you beat that? So worth the wait. I am not as crazy about the calzones but that is a personal preference. I don't care for all the bread. I have tried their calzones and they were yummy. I would recommend anything they serve. Friendly service, quality ingredients, delicious pizza for a decent price. Who the heck needs shopping?

Yelp
I have been a manager in oak park mall for a little over a year so I frequently get pizza from Sal's. It's ok pizza for what it is. (Mall pizza) It's just never hot!!!!! It's cold and tough not crisp. My suggestion is leave it in the warmer longer. Every time I eat there I am disappointed. It always looks delicious and the people are super friendly but heat your dang pizza!!!!

Yelp
*MALL FOOD COURT* There are some days where I can't really decide what I want to eat till I am practically stuffing it in my face. And occasionally... I will have others that can't/won't make a decision with me. There is a solution for this... Parents of more than one child listen up... The Food Court at the Mall! in this case... Oak Park Mall. Original pizza gets over looked here often as everyone just knows it as the Pizza Joint in the mall! Once again using the recipes that have had them be a good stand by anytime I am wanting a quick and delicious slice. The customer service was very quick and extremely friendly the last time I stepped up to this counter. I was very impressed. Especially since I had to go get one of the kids chicken immediately after! Note: When reviewing a Food Court restaurant I never look at cleanliness of the place as this is usually a separately owned service.

Yelp
These mall pizzas always hit the spot, great big slice for a nice price! I got a pizza, salad and drink combo for just $6.50!

Yelp
Have you ever heard of a pizzeria that doesn't deliver? No? Neither have I So I order online and go pick it up. For some reason even though they advertise for takeout it's in the food court of the mall. I show up and they haven't even started my order. So I have to reorder it. It takes a couple of tries for the counter guy to repeat back my pizza order. Why don't you write it down. Then I order some sausage and peppers sub. They don't have that I'm told. But your online menu has it. And I point at the board. It says Sandwiches. Sausage and Peppers. He points to a pizza roll in the counter. That's not a sandwich. Epic failure for this place. This one goes to the bottom of my pizza list

Yelp
Favorite pizza in KC. I like NY style and this reminds me closest to real thing. Highly recommend

Yelp
Original Pizza is what it has always been since I first had it many years ago-a place to get a big greasy slice of mall food court pizza. It doesn't aspire to be more, and it shouldn't. Some have said the salad was dirty, wilted, or otherwise gross. Who the @#$% orders salad at a mall food court pizza place? Yes, they offer salads, but the salad is perfunctory, a nod to the offerings of other full-on pizza restaurants and maybe the changing times. But it's not why Original Pizza is there, and it's not why anyone should eat there. Apparently many have experienced slow, inconsistent, indifferent, or even rude service. Par for the course at the mall food court. Mall employers, especially food court vendors, won't pay enough to have anyone more than indifferent teenagers manning the oven/register or bitter, life-hating managers. I'd never say anyone willingly endure rudeness, just suggest keeping it simple, sticking to ordering a slice and a soda. Finally, the pizza itself. No, it's not especially good or authentic NY style pizza, unless measured against similar cheap slice joints in NYC and elsewhere. If it were truly excellently sourced and prepared, it would cost much more and not be mall pizza anymore. But it was tempting to me as a kid tagging along with my mom on a trip to the mall, and just cheap enough to make getting me a slice an easy decision for her.

Yelp
Great pizza! If your in the mood for a thin NY slice, this is the spot! The service is spotty at times, but normally friendly. In and out in 5 minutes.

Yelp
The $6.50 salad, slice, and drink special was a good deal. The salad had plenty of cheese and fresh ingredients, the pizza slice was nicely-sized, with plenty of tasty toppings, and a chewy thin crust, while the drink was large. The service was fast, but all business, and the food court was busy, but clean.

Yelp
I love original pizza so much that I paid extra to have GrubHub deliver it because i was home with a sick kid. Bad choice. I ordered a medium sausage pie and the toppings were completely slid off the pizza into the box. I also ordered a small Greek salad. All it was was dirty Romain lettuce (could literally taste the dirt and it was sandy) with Greek dressing soaking it. No veggies, no olives, no feta like their typical Greek salad. The cardboard box was leaking with dressing. Since when do restaurants put dressing on delivery orders? Disappointed.

Yelp
Ah, my beloved Original Pizza. It's been in Oak Park Mall as long as I can remember and I have fond memories of eating here while cruising the mall in my teen years back in the mid-80s. Of course, there was no food court back then, but now I'm feeling old so let's move on, shall we? Original Pizza, in my humble opinion, is the closest thing to true New York style pizza in the metro Kansas City area. The slices aren't as big as I'd like, but everything else is perfect. Grease? Check. Surly, Italian counter guys? Check. The ability to ask for "a slice" and they know what you want? Check. The crust is perfectly thin and slightly chewy. The sauce is the right amount of sweetness and the greasy cheese drips off the sides unless you fold it in half. There's even residual black oven goo on the bottom of the slices from being reheated. YES! For three decades, their pizza has been as consistent and reliably awesome as the Chiefs have been at NOT making it to the Super Bowl. I can walk up, order a slice and know that it'll taste the same way it did when I was 15 and trying to get the boy mall cruisers to notice me. Never change, Original Pizza!

Yelp
You know, how can you complain about pizza you get for nothing in a a food court? You really can't. You know what you are going in to. It's like beating your head against a wall and complaining about the pain..why the hell did you do it in the first place? Personally, I rather skip a meal then eat cold pizza off a dirty table surrounded by screeching tweens ever again. My excuse is that I was in a hurry, but honestly, this was more punishing then going hungry.

Yelp
While in line the guy making pizzas (not selling slices) was not happy with his younger co worker. He decided to yell, literally, the name of a religious figure and add a curse word as an improvised middle name. He then punched the pizza dough he was working on in a child-like fashion. My two year old was one of three kids in line. That's our last stop here.

Yelp
Ok so I think maybe they read my review and identified me, because the service has done a 180 to where I am now being called "hon." LOVE IT and love the delicious pizza! Also, to Jason B., if the person making your pizza does not have an extremely violent temper, you are not at a real pizza place. In addition, I think you need to possibly watch a Tarantino or John Waters movie ASAP.

Yelp
I love how you can get it by the slice and try different combinations. Service is always friendly and the food is always on point! This is a go-to when I'm in Overland Park.

Jason J.

Yelp
Pizza is very bad. Sauce was bland and had absolutely zero flavor. There was essentially no cheese on it. What a wastw

Yelp
This to me is like being on vacation eating a slice that you fold in half. Its a great place to call in and get carry out or order a pizza while you are shopping. Everyone who works there has an attitude like a new yorker and no smile either, but I like it that way No Frills. This place is better than D'Bronx and I love the College location as well esp. for lunch.

Yelp
If you like east cost pizza, Philly, New York style then a fresh pie from here is for you.

Yelp
I just had 2 pies delivered by grub hub. It was a taste of home! You just can't find good NYC pizza in the Midwest. Well I found some! Great pizza and it was hot when delivered. I will certainly do this again!

Yelp
This pizza is great!! Its better than any of the other places I've had in Kansas. The place is basic and not so pretty and there are alot of people during lunch hour. However, the pizza is worth it, they tend to you quickly so you dont wait very long, the place and tables clear out quick and its clean. Overall great.

Yelp
Friendly staff, good pizza! Only complaint was the meatball sub we ordered was not very good. Other than that, had excellent/prompt service and the pizza was delicious!

Yelp
I've been eating at this pizza joint since elementary school. It is the best NY Style in town. It is far from my house, but always worth the trip.

Yelp
Horrible service. I went to this place to get a slice and a drink on Sunday, May 29. There were only a few customers in the place and one man waiting to have his order taken. I stood around for at least 5 minutes and was never acknowledged. The 3 guys in the place seemed to be moving in slow motion and were oblivious to their customers. I own a pizza place in Texas and if I owned this place and saw a customer treated like I was, I would fire everyone in the place. I have no idea how the food is, as I left without ordering. I doubt anyone noticed.
