"The Mexican mini-chain Salsa Limón has six locations in Fort Worth and Dallas, and they recently expanded to Austin with a new restaurant on Guadalupe just north of campus. Expect tacos (some with crispy cheese), burritos, breakfast all day, margaritas, and their four signature salsas (tomatillo, jalapeno, piquin, and habanero)." - Raphael Brion

Google
Left visiting hospital downtown and were looking for something close and open late and came across Salsa Limon. Good food, tastes fresh, and served hot. Lots of choices for protein in a bowl, a taco, or burrito. Service was top notch. Will definitely stop in again! Hope they get larger cups though ;)

My new favorite happy hour in Austin. The place is small but the few times I’ve been it hasn’t been packed. The parking lot is small and can get filled up fast but there is some street partaking available. Both the frozen and on the rocks margaritas are good!

First time visiting Salsa Limon and I LOVED IT‼️👌🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I will definitely come back when I’m in Austin. Mexican food with a unique, flavorful twist! I’m very critical of Mexican food… cause I’m MEXICAN‼️🤣 First thing I loved when going in there was the CLEAN SMELL and good Latin music!! ♥️

Google
I’m visiting my daughter who’s attending UT. We’re from McAllen, TX, a border town. We know authentic and this place is spot on … the music, the vibe … pretty much everything. I especially like hearing the kitchen staff actually speaking Spanish to each other. Breakfast tacos are tops… the chorizo and egg is the best I’ve tasted in all of Austin. Great job keepin it real. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Google
I don't understand why this place is only at 4.2 stars - they definitely deserve all 5!! The atmosphere is wonderful - bright, cheerful, and clean, and they have Latin music playing the whole time, stuff you've probably never heard otherwise 😊They're very patient with one's lacking in Spanish (lol)...I ordered this gorgeous breakfast burrito (at 1:30pm!) and it was wrapped as tightly as a baby in a sling, and the fillings had a taste i could only dare dream of. I will be back, and I'll be bringing friends 🤗

Can’t wait to go back!! The tables are all picnic tables both indoor and outdoor seating is available. They have handheld menus as well as billboard style. Lots of options for both omnivores and vegetarians alike. I had the torta with mushrooms , added Avacado and let me tell you it did not disappoint! The bread was really good and so was the filing however I wish there would have been more mushrooms, I loved the salsa options the habanero and tomatillo were my favorite two! Everyone at my table enjoyed thier meals and the drinks. Others had the vegatarian tacos , asada quesadillas, a chicken taco, a asada taco which they really liked, and a asada torta. We had the frozen margarita which was quite chunky (the ice) , however the one on the rocks was good and a decent amount of liquor in them. The Paloma spritz was quite tasty too. This is counter service restaurant where you order get a number and they bring it out to your table …. if something is needed after food is dropped you have to get up and get it. However, The staff was nice each interaction we had and the food came out pretty quickly.

Google
New in the neighborhood and just got take out for the first time today. I’m taking a star off because while there was good flavor, the rice needs to be cooked a little more. I got a pastor and a chicken taco. The slaw is delicious but there was hardly any meat on the tacos. I’d love to give it another try if the owner were to address these concerns. 😄

Google
Love everything about this place. Walking in I could see the place was decorated nicely with a Mexican theme. The service was great. The food was amazing and authentic. Prices were reasonable. They had nice Spanish music playing in the background. I ordered in English but noticed everyone working was speaking Spanish and heard other customers ordering in Spanish. This place is the real deal!

Yelp
This place is so hip and delicious. I stopped by here earlier this summer for a quick bite during a thrift spree on Guad with a friend. You order at the front and they call out your number. I had the tortilla soup and one barbacoa and one chicken taco! Did not disappoint!!! All were pretty delectable and juicy. The tortilla soup came with a generous helping of avocado, which is so great with the spicy soup. The crispy tortilla chips were the perfect addition. They played reggaeton loud on the speakers that day and I was into it! Can't wait to go back for more.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
This was our 2nd time here and again, really enjoyed the experience. Staff was kind, friendly, and ready to help with whatever we needed. They got the margarita texture fixed since our last visit so that was great! Strawberry margarita was sweet but enjoyable! Decent amount of alcohol. The food was great , if I had to nitpick- a little too much cheese in the vegetarian quesadilla but, afterall- it's a quesadilla. lol They had the music pumping and lights dimmed with colorful lights lighting up the place. They weren't too busy and food came out promptly.

Yelp
I really enjoy Salsa Limón! The employees are wonderful and always down to give recommendations. They have super generous portions (huge tacos) and the pricing isn't bad (only $4-5 per taco). Which means you can eat a really filling meal for $10 which is hard to beat in Austin. Their margs are also unexpectedly strong which could be a really good or bad thing depending on what you're going for, but it's definitely economical. I'm obsessed with their salsa selection - the habanero salsa is my favorite! My main complaint (hence the 4/5 review) is that I occasionally run into issues with my taco being soaked in oil. 75% of the time, the taco is perfect, but the other 25% of the time it's really oily and my tortilla gets soft. I've noticed this more with the asada or pastor tacos. However, I will keep coming back and risk the occasional oily taco because they are delicious.

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Solid taco place! It didn't absolutely blow me away so I can only give 4/5 stars, but the staff was friendly and helpful, the tacos are only $4.25 each, and you can get 3 or so of them and get full. Bathroom is clean, and the seating is picnic table style so plenty of room. I enjoyed the asada one most out of the two I got (also tried chicken). They're made with traditional small corn tortillas but they double them up to help them keep their shape. Overall did enjoy the tacos! Bet they'd be great with a marg or Paloma on their drink menu. Oh also - they have free chips and salsa during happy hour which they said was 2-6p on weekdays.

Mia T.

Yelp
Alex and Andrew, the chefs, are absolutely amazing! great food, even better service. We had a huge party of 50+ people and they were so accommodating. I can't recommend this place enough!

Bella G.

Yelp
I think this place is a hidden gem. Everything was really tasty and pretty cheap. A pitcher of margarita was only $25 and we split it between 5 people. The rice and beans were YUM and only $2.50 #epicpricealert The queso was SUPER watery and kinda bland but the chips were thick and I enjoyed them. The taco had crispy cheese, cilantro, onions, and cabbage and I got steak with it on a flour tortilla. The meat was extremely juicy and it didn't have any fatty pieces. The steak was good! ‍

Holly D.

Yelp
I came here thinking it was a food truck style with outdoor seating only, and was more than pleasantly surprised with the cute interior. Then we got our food, and it was all incredible. My chicken burrito was a 9/10, the steak quesadilla was a 7/10, the Mexican rice was a 9/10 (very greasy). We got the dip trio and the guac 6/10, salsa 7/10 (kind of tasted like spicy tomato sauce), and the queso was a 6/10. You can order on a QR code which was super convenient, but you can also order at the register or at a self-checkout style register. They bring the food out to you promptly!

Dolly N.

Yelp
Very tasty tacos! I was in the neighborhood for a comedy show at Spiderhouse and wanted to grab a bite beforehand and ended up here. They have a small parking lot and street parking can be hit or miss depending on when you're trying to eat. This is a standard situation for any place close to campus though. Foodwise though this is a great option for food if you're in the area. Tacos were tasty and came out relatively fast. I had a barbacoa and the others in my group got the carne asada tacos. They do run about ~$4+ a pop but solid food. And they even have 3 different salsas, my favorite was the jalapeño one

Blaire B.

Yelp
Y'all I freakin love it here, and it's seemingly some of the only late night dining left in Austin! PLUS karaoke Weds-Fri??!!! You might have to dodge some hoardes of college kids, but the tacos (and queso) are worth feeling like the absolute oldest person in the world. Everything is fresh and authentic and affordably priced! I highly recommend the favorito, it's basically a reasonable portion of the famous Don Juan. I also love the pastor and the chips and queso. Can't wait to work my way through the menu. Service is quick and friendly, and the space is bright and always clean. You can see into the kitchen, too, and it's always clean and organized in there as well, which is comforting. Go check it out!

Yelp
Had the pleasure of eating at Salsa Limón today for a coworkers birthday lunch. Very cute place I must say. When arriving you can tell that parking is tight but we were there before 12 so we found parking. The staff is personable and informative on how they operate, you can either order at the front or at the table on the QR code. I did like that the QR code had a "group" order option. The menu is pretty simple, with different types of tacos, bowls, quesadillas and burritos. I ordered the Vegetarian bowl that came with, Spanish rice, black beans, cilantro, cheese, cabbage and avocado. I loved it! It was the perfect amount and I was able to finish my whole meal and not feeling overly stuffed. Winning! Definitely recommend this place for a nice lunch if in the area.

Yelp
New favorite tacos in Austin! Delicious food, friendly, clean and comfortable. I have a hard time not eating here every day.

Charles L.

Yelp
Had lunch delivered earlier today. Delicious food! Chicken taco in a corn tortilla was well-seasoned, with fresh veggies. Pastor salad even better ... grilled pork was tasty and tender, tomatoes were fresh as were the other items. Ordered extra meat and that was a good idea ... lots of food. Good value. I will order from this place again.

Gaby S.

Yelp
Went for a late night dinner and was delish! The patio area was cute. The queso might not look the most appetizing, but it was super yummy with a bit of spice. Unfortunately, the chips were hard but still edible and did the trick. Ordered the beef quesadilla which comes with four large pieces and a side of rice and beans. The rice was good but the beans were the star. Also, weird little side note, their water was so crisp and refreshing. Definitely will be coming back!

Jason W.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. Chilaquiles were better than average but the sauce left a little to be desired, I felt it was a little under-seasoned. The al pastor was cooked perfectly - not dried out like you get at a lot of places. The hot sauce selection was good - the habanero salsa was very hot but had good flavor. The sauce one heat level below it was my favorite - a good smoky flavor and still had plenty of heat. Also tried the chicken quesadilla, the chicken was cooked well but overall kind of plain. I guess it made for a good vessel to be dressed up with their sauces but I think it could have been seasoned a bit more.

Yelp
O M G. How haven't I been here before?! I think I found my favorite taco shop in all of Texas. I ordered their classic chicken tacos and was astounded. This is the first place I've visited that marinated their chicken giving it so much oomph and flavor (i cry happy tears). I had a bite my fiancé's pastor tacos and they were really delicious too! The decor seemed really cool, and I'll definitely have to stop by again to try their margaritas. Just wish they had tortas because I'd kill to have their chicken on a torta.

Justin T.

Yelp
They get a lot right for simple burritos and bowls portioned generously with tasty ingredients. Their meats are very good, especially the barbacoa and steak. All of their sauces are fresh and very solid. My only complaint was one bad breakfast burrito. I ordered it with sour cream (one of the uber eats menu options), and they must have added it when the eggs were piping hot, because it completely melted and left a soupy burrito. Of the times I've gotten bacon, I've also been very disappointed by soggy, stringy meat. (TLDR: avoid the sour cream and bacon on breakfast burritos here)

Michael N.

Yelp
This is the most underrated taco spot near UT. I always get the steak taco and the bacon, egg, cheese, and potato breakfast taco. The latter is definitely my favorite item on the menu (eggs are cooked fresh, bacon is crispy, and the potatoes are nicely crisp on the edges). The staff are nice, and the only downside is that it can be a bit of a walk from UT campus.

Michael E.

Yelp
Quick and easy, tacos were on point, ordered the El Capitan tacos - steak and chicken Carne asada was crispy and full of flavor!

Will N.

Yelp
They have new late night hours. Help them pioneer karaoke and late night dining. This is the way we make Austin a late night destination again! Queso is a must. I love the el capitan and breakfast.

Clint S.

Yelp
The pride of the owners and their staff for their Mexican heritage is evident in their food, drinks and hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed their queso, chips and salsa for starters, and the tacos and drinks were equally excellent. I mixed the refried beans and salsa to scoop up with the chips which were delicious. This place is truly a gem. Not to mention that we met some amazing people this afternoon.

Nicolas R.

Yelp
Salsa Limon was chill. Tacos were very affordable, like $2-4 each. That being said, you get what you pay for, and while I found them to be rather filling, I don't think the flavor was up there with some of the more pricey taco places. Service was pleasant and pretty quick, and the Ambiance was that of your regular stop-in taco joint.

Tana L.

Yelp
I've been looking for delicious Mexican food in the area that wasn't a huge chain or overly priced, and this is it! So delicious, I can't wait to come back and try more items with my family. Had the carne asada burrito and it was perfect, great comfort Mexican food

Christa C.

Yelp
I constantly order their burritos and quesadillas, some of the best I've found in Austin

Javi H.

Yelp
Might as well order just a cheese quesadilla when getting a carne guisada quesadilla. The queso that came with the chips was horrible, seems like they love to add salt like there is no tomorrow. The carne guisada was chopped into very small squares and they sure cared how much to put in the quesadilla( not much at all! ). Place did not have the items mentioned on the website and it was an overall very disappointing experience. Just got to Torchy's , it's around the corner.

Taylor D.

Yelp
The service is great, the server was friendly and willing to exchange the horchata. Horchata was very grainy. I have never experienced that before. Burrito was poorly made and lacked flavor. Salsa's are watery. The restaurant is very pretty. They did a great job of staging the very tropical/ Mexican ambiance. There is outdoor seating. The location in downtown Dallas is 10 times better. I hopefully that can get to the same standard

Erika B.

Yelp
Definitely coming back. Hidden gem! Good happy hour available, Thursday's pitchers are $20! Very neat and pretty interior! Beautiful!

Victoria O.

Yelp
This was my 2nd time here - the first time my Husband and I randomly stopped in for a margarita and some tacos and were blown away by the deliciousness of everything! For one, both their rocks and frozen margaritas taste so fresh and limey, but not overly sweet, and their salsas are to die for - they have different heat levels for everyone's taste buds. Naturally we had to go back for their breakfast! I ordered the chilaquiles, which were piled high with chips, salsa, beans, cheese and avocado - more than enough for 1 person! We have definitely found our new "Mexican breakfast" and happy hour spot!

Julia C.

Yelp
We frequented their Fort Worth location for years. Glad they opened one here in Austin. Limited parking outside. Great ambiance and good amount of seating in their dining areas. Lots of great options on their menu. Yummy!

Aanand S.

Yelp
First time here. Could taste each ingredient separately. Really contributed to the ensemble in a glorious way. Tacos definitely hit the spot. Salsa were fresh with an amazing pop. Asked the cashier for their top two recommendations and just ordered them. Couldn't be happier. Will be back if I'm in the area.

Terry P.

Yelp
After reading other Yelpers' reviews, this place was on my "to try" list, so I met my daughter for an early lunch. We were so early that no other customers were there, which made us a bit nervous. Our fears were unrealized after we watched other patrons arrive and we received our order: a large Salsita salad with Al Pastor (your choice of meat) for my daughter, a Barbacoa taco with queso for me, along with an egg and potato breakfast taco with avocado. I'm sorry that I forgot to snap photos but my daughter and I had a lot to talk about as we devoured our meal. They had 4 types of salsas on the help-yourself-counter--a creamy verde, a fire roasted red, a hot piquin, and a habenero. All made good accompaniments. The Al Pastor meat was perfectly cut and cooked so it stayed tender. It didn't have a big pineapple flavor so a tastier version may be found elsewhere, but it was good nonetheless. The Barbacoa was shredded and melt-in-your-mouth, probably because the fat was left on for cooking and shredding. Personally I think fat adds flavor and tenderness so I'd order it again, but it bears mentioning for those fat-averse people out there. The eggs and potatoes were perfect on a flour tortilla that was thin, but not so thin as to lose its structure from generous fillings. We both liked the flexibility of the menu which allows you to add extra proteins or toppings as you please. I also was overjoyed that this place serves breakfast items all day. Why do other restaurants cut off breakfast tacos at lunchtime? Is there a rule that I don't know about, a rule that states you can only eat eggs during morning hours? Bah Humbug to that stupid rule; everyone knows that "Brinner" can be a great thing! I encourage you to check out their menu online so that you can dream up your own tasty combinations! Oh, and I have a suggestion for the restaurant: please add freshly brewed iced tea to your beverage list. Since Austinites drink it all year long, they pretty much expect it to be available everywhere. Thanks!

Britt Z.

Yelp
Such a great place to pop in and get a bite! I love checking out all the vintage and resale stores in the area and this is my new replenishment go to! They have great agua frescas and lots of yummy bites to grab something quick to eat.

David M.

Yelp
Salsa Limón offers authentic Mexican street food. Anywhere from tacos, tortas, and authentic Mexican dishes. This is a laid back spot that offers both bar and table seating and they have a decent size patio as well. Their chips and salsa was decent and they had good queso. I got a margarita and their drinks are strong. I got an order of their chicken tacos they were a good size and really enjoyed them. They also offer breakfast tacos and they have a catering menu if you are looking for catering services for your event. Give them a visit and check out their tacos and margaritas.

Henry L.

Yelp
Tacos were good=two stars. We had the chicken, pastor & Barbacoa. Not sure what's up with the cabbage but took it out. At first we thought it was closed- hardly any lights on - pretty dark besides the patio lights on. Walked in- and cashier for sure DID NOT WANT TO BE THERE. This makes me not want to return. Her attitude was just BLAH!!! You wanna go to a place and ppl welcome you. Make you feel like they appreciate your business. They should want you to return. We asked if there were any other salsas (pic for reference) and her answer was no- walked away. Thinking maybe she was going to bring some more out-. That never happened. And why -why do we have Maine Root product for fountain sodas! Gross!! It's not like we are eating vegan or trying to be healthy eating at a taco place! Get the real cola stuff- Dr. Pepper, SOMETHING ELSE than that gross stuff! Inside the lighting was very dim. There was not any vibe going on. Just lacked character- customer service, the ambiance was just missing.

Michael L.

Yelp
Tacos are big for price and flour tortillas have great texture (slightly crisped). Had the steak capitan and favorito tacos and both were delicious. Four choices of salsa and they are all tasty too. Will be back'

Lisa C.

Yelp
Not a restaurant. Order at the counter, get a number, seat yourself. The food was, at best, mediocre, and the margarita tasted like old Halloween candy. Probably the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. There are much better in this town. One on the corner of Burton and Riverside drive is the best we have found so far. Don't waste your money or time on this place...

Shelly H.

Yelp
I ordered a BEAN And CHEESE ONLY BURRITO through Grub HuB,. The pictures showed beautiful grilled burritos.. I also asked for the jalapeño hot sauce! What I received was a scrambled egg burrito with beans and cheese and no hot sauce. It was not the crispy burrito photo on the website and when I took my first bite, not knowing there was egg in it I gagged, since the flavor profile was old bacon grease in a soggy tortilla! It was gross! The guacamole is ok and the chips meh! That's why I'm giving a 2!

Xiao Z.

Yelp
I didn't realize there's a new taco place near the campus. It's basically a taco place with bar, very modern interior and plenty of space! But their taco is really really tasty! I especially like the tortilla a bit toasted with a bit crispy texture! The cheese was so so satisfying! And please don't forget about their sauce, it's really spicy but I'm the boss with the sauce!

Steven L.

Yelp
Needed a quick place to eat after a comedy show at the Ballroom Spiderhouse, and luckily Salsa Limon was still open late! The restaurant was very interesting, very colorful inside, with a wide array of decorations. Some of it felt random, but it did make it very interesting to just look around and see how the restaurant was arranged. Guac and chips - pretty standard, nothing special La baby - I really enjoyed this! It was sorta like a quesadilla, except with two corn tortillas and a mixture of cheese, beans, potato in the quasadilla. El Capitan with mushrooms - good vegetarian taco, I tried it with a couple different salsas and both were tasty and pretty spicy.

Jesus S.

Yelp
Hello, here I leave the opinion of me and Familia. I visited the restaurant located on William Canom and Manchaca Street. We requested service and the waitress who served us was a person with no professional education and was negative. I asked a question that contained a dish on the menu and she answered that the The information was in the letter and I replied, "Can you tell me?" which made him angry and took the menu out of my hands. Then a guy named Alex appeared and aggressively took the other menu from my companion, which I complained about and he told me no. I was going to provide service, the situation became difficult and I was even pushed by a woman to leave the restaurant. I only wish that the owner of the place would take up an issue with his employees since this place is not the first time, I have seen it and I had never had a such unpleasant attention.

Bianca D.

Yelp
New to Austin, coming from Fort Worth. Great spot on North Campus for quick tacos, great margaritas, plus a covered patio! tacos. brunch. palomas. margaritas. breakfast all day. * chips & dips trio [11] * breakfast taco w/chorizo [4] * chilaquiles [9] * taco [4.25] * el capitan taco [4.75] * agua de rancho [7] * frozen margarita [8] * agua fresca [41 - horchata austin exclusives * lupita (vegan) [4] * paloma fizz [9] Overall, I would come back. Everyone was very nice, the food was decent but wasn't blown away by the carne asada I got in a couple of tacos. Chilaquiles was incredible, get the chicken with it!

Edwyn A.

Yelp
Came here opening day and my experience was flawless. I got the burrito with carne asada. The tortilla was toasted which gave it a nice texture. The meat was perfectly seasoned and not too oily at all. The rice was just right. I paired it with a variety of salsas. The habanero has a kick and couldn't stop putting it on the burrito. I washed it all down with a frozen marg with a grand marnier floater. These frozen margs will be perfect for the summer as they have the consistency of a slushy or icee. Can't be wait to try the other options on the menu.

Kayla K.

Yelp
The atmosphere is super nice with an eclectic modern vibe. I got the Barbados which was super tasty and a good amount of complexity in the flavor profile. The chicken in the chicken taco was seasoned well but the taco as a whole was underwhelming. It might have tasted better with more add ons but that would've been $6 for a small taco. Overall I was unimpressed with how small the tacos were for the price and how the flavor profiles weren't astounding or complex

Amy B.

Yelp
MMMMM! Salsa Limon! The best taco I've gotten there is bacon and fried cheese delight! We watch the cooks in action, and I felt like I couldn't have gotten a fresher taco anywhere - it was served steaming hot! They have a menu full of the house specialty tacos, and they all look great! Definitely a great campus eatery!

Allyson L.

Yelp
Delicious!! We got the molca bowl, margarita and jamaica aqua Fresca. Only suggestion is maybe more of the meat filling and less refried beans for the bowl. Or maybe add some corn and black beans. But otherwise delicious!!

Keith R.

Yelp
It was a nice tex mex place to eat but i feel like there was to much oil, i got the babacoa burrito and it was dripping everytime i held it to take a bite.

Brandon K.

Yelp
Overall pretty impressed with this spot! Stopped in here randomly when driving down Guadalupe. Got the breakfast burrito (which they serve all day) with potato as my main filling and added asada. The burrito was super yummy and filling. Their salsas are also great to put in the burrito with the tomatillo and jalapeño ones being my favorite. The Pastor Molca Bowl was also very good, albeit not necessarily a bowl and more of a tray which you would normally be served fries in. Even though the serving size was a little disappointing, the flavors made up for it! Would definitely recommend stopping by. They also have a great little patio area as well for when it's cool enough to sit out there!

Erika M.

Yelp
I went through Uber Eats. The food is cold and it's missing ingredients that I paid extra for. It's not sealed, the bag is just wide open so that the driver could just spit in my food and I wouldn't even know. Also they have no idea what spice is because I ordered the hottest and it's not even hot at all. There's no season, no salt, no napkins, no utensils, no salsa, nothing. NEVER AGAIN!.

Ozzy V.

Yelp
Came in from San Antonio this early morning and this place had just opened can't complain this food is delicious and fast !!!

Daniel M.

Yelp
food? EXCELLENT They're so clean, in their down time they wash their hands & change out their gloves. Really nice people, food really good.
