Salt and Straw Plans New Kirkland Location | Eater Seattle

"Portland-based Salt and Straw, known for inventive ice cream flavor combinations, will open its third Seattle-area location this June in Kirkland at the Village at Totem Lake. It will join the Ballard and Capitol Hill outposts that continually draw crowds for seasonal scoop offerings featuring locally sourced ingredients and collaborations with other Seattle businesses such as Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt, Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, and Rachel’s Ginger Beer." - Gabe Guarente

Salt & Straw Kirkland is a gem! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming—they make the experience even sweeter. The ice cream flavors are super creative and absolutely delicious. Every scoop feels like a mini adventure. Yes, the lines can get long, but it’s 100% worth the wait. Plus, the location is amazing—perfect for a treat while enjoying the waterfront or strolling around downtown Kirkland. Highly recommend!

Loved the ice cream here! I tried the Sea Salt Caramel with ribbons and the Chocolate Brownie Gooey – both were delicious, but the caramel one stood out more for me. The chocolate had a strong flavor, which was a bit too much compared to the smoother caramel. I also got it in a cone, which I really enjoyed – it added a nice crunch. They offer tasting samples, which is a great touch if you’re indecisive like me. Plus, the cozy vibe around the fireplaces nearby made the whole experience even better. Definitely worth a visit!

hits every time 🔥 Amazing, unique flavors of ice cream - as someone who likes experimenting with flavors, I loved this place. Loved the bits of fruit in the ice cream, and great on a warm night wandering around in Totem Lake Village. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially as I ordered ahead of time and wasn’t used to the system.

Love coming to this plaza the atmosphere is always so buzzing & alive. Whether it's in the winter or summer nights, this place is popping off! Salt & Straw will typically have a long line in the evenings but it's also open late and if you grab some friends or family it's worth the wait! They have unique flavors and allow samples.

A delightful ice cream parlor that’s definitely worth visiting at least once—especially for its inventive and unique flavors. Flavors tried: Salted Caramel, Cookie Dough, Peach & Blue Cheese. Verdict: • The Salted Caramel was rich, smooth, and thoroughly enjoyable. • The Cookie Dough was decent—satisfying, though not particularly memorable. • The surprise standout was the Peach & Blue Cheese. Initially, I was hesitant due to the boldness of blue cheese, but it turned out to be absolutely delicious and truly one of a kind. One of the best aspects of this place is that they encourage sampling—you can try as many flavors as you’d like, which makes exploring their more adventurous offerings a lot of fun. The vibe and ambience are friendly and welcoming, making the experience all the more enjoyable. Final take: A must-try ice cream spot for anyone curious to step beyond the usual and into flavor creativity.

Is there really anything to say? Of course, it’s delicious!😋🍦♥️ I’ve loved Salt & Straw since I lived in Portland. I usually go for the classic flavors, but I also enjoy trying the new flavors they release every month! Especially the Pots of Gold and Rainbows that comes out in March!

Another fantastic spot making its way from LA to Washington! If you're into wild and inventive ice cream flavors, this place is an absolute must-try. The ice cream itself is seriously great. Just be prepared for a crowd – the line often snakes all the way down the street, but for those unique tastes, it might just be worth the wait.
