"The worst-kept secret in town is that you’ll probably leave Salt+ hungry. But you’ll at least get to spend the night feeling like a judge on Top Chef, using words like “mouthfeel” to describe some of the most creative small plates in Cleveland. Don’t miss the white bean purée with mashed olives, which is one of the few dishes that’s permanently on the menu, or the calamari with coriander-coconut glaze when it’s available. Just plan to supplement with some snacks on the couch once you get home." - kate bigam kaput

Great dining experience! The menu rotates every few months and may have a theme, but the dishes are so creative that you're in for a surprise. Their drinks are well made and the desserts are a nice end cap to the meal. The flan is excellent.

I had an incredibly enjoyable experience at Salt. The food was exceptional, and I couldn't get enough of it. The menu offered a delightful array of flavours, and each dish was expertly crafted to perfection, offering a balanced and welcomed fusion of cultures. What really stood out to me was the playful and fun decor at Salt. It added an extra element of enjoyment to the dining experience. The atmosphere was vibrant and lively, making me feel truly immersed in the dining adventure. The attention to detail in the restaurant's design was impressive, and it enhanced the overall ambiance. The staff were friendly and attentive. It's a must-visit spot for food lovers and those looking to indulge in a memorable dining experience.

Food was special. Creative. Well executed. Very tasty. Anchovy dish as an example - great blend of umami (anchovies), sweetness (raisins), crunch (pine nuts) and savory. Truffled spaghetti and lemon ricotta cake both highlights. Hellfire cocktail was excellent. The Portuguese wine was memorable. Unfortunately, the meal was detracted by the three F-bomb dropping cougars who were loud and obnoxious for the better part of my meal. Not entirely sure what the restaurant can do with trashy, middle-aged women looking to find their bliss in espresso martinis, but be forewarned these might be your dinner companions.

Had a lovely dinner here tonight. The menu is seasonal, and this season’s vegetarian options were some of the best we’ve seen. Ordered the white bean spread, burrata and pickled tomatoes, goat cheese dumplings, and beets. Excellent drink menu as well. These are all small plates, but we found that four to share was plenty for the two of us. Service was also exemplary. Can’t wait to come back!

Came for my friend's 30th birthday dinner, husband and I had an absolutely wonderful time trying out many of the delicious dishes. We also discovered from this visit that we really enjoy Port. Definitely a great place to go for a special occasion.

Google
A fancy restaurant that combines the ingredients and cooking skills all over the world. The food are all in small plates, and here I highly recommend the rabbit savory! Have never eaten that delicious meat like it! The calamari is also good! Not fully sure what they did but the outside tasted like salted egg yolk!

Google
The cocktail I got was so good! And the Calamari, Wagyu & Clams became instant favorites! These are small plates so the cost is higher but the food is amazing!!! If you go with two people you'll have to order between 3 and 4 plates.

Nice menu with well prepared items offering unique combinations of flavors and ingredients. The lavender goat cheese brûlée— oh wow— Perfect! I was a bit worried at first that the goat cheese would impart an odd flavor profile—I was wrong. The texture was silky smooth and the creme portion was so light. There was just the right amount of lavender. Service is excellent and very friendly- also extremely fast. Drinks were very good. My only critiques— something is missing with the beet dish- just wasn’t very well balanced— I think I would have had larger blue cheese crumbles, crushed caramelized pecans. I liked the figs but they were unfortunately overshadowed by the beet flavor. Lastly, sometimes the other flavors of the dish masked the key ingredient. These are very minor critiques, but at this price point, I expect slightly more. However, their menu changes regularly and I think this is well worth trying. Overall- very nice place and beautiful presentation. Service is excellent and the restaurant has a casual yet upscale feel.

Yelp
We went to Salt+ this past weekend for a quick dinner after shopping around Lakewood Center. We were able to get a table in the outside patio which was mostly enclosed since the weather was nice. We started off with their version of a spicy margarita and old fashioned which were good but nothing spectacular, solid but without any of their own flair. We got the following tapas: Salad-essentially just a few pieces of butter lettuce in a vinaigrette, good but not worth $10+ Mushrooms with cured egg yolk-innovative and a must if you're a mushroom lover like us Octopus crudo-one of our favorite tapas Veal meatballs-tender and full of flavor Chocolate cake-good but again nothing special, the figs were an interesting component Tl;Dr: I would say that the food is solid, but overall very overpriced. You are paying almost NYC prices and portions in the suburbs of Ohio without the NYC service, and attention to detail on presentation and service. Overall 3.75/5

Yelp
Salt+ in Lakewood is a hidden gem. It's a casual spot with a rustic-chic ambiance, and the menu features composed small plates. paired with a killer cocktail menu and a unique selection of wines. The ambiance is chic yet comfortable, with a vibrant bar area and a dining room that sets the stage for a cozy evening. The staff work hard to show off their creativity with recommendations and attentive service. The menu features creative items like white bean purée, corn fritters, calamari, potato beignet, and wild boar osso buco. Each plate is crafted to deliver bold flavor. The pork belly, lamb meatballs with polenta, and crayfish tails are also not to be missed dishes. The cocktails are also creative and delicious, with likes of Cruisers Creek and Vieux Carré with boozy and bold kick. Salt+ is a standout restaurant in Lakewood that promises an amazing experience with its small plates, excellent service, and a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere.

Yelp
This is definitely a great spot for a special occasion! My partner and I came for an anniversary dinner and it was a great choice. Salt had a nice atmosphere with dim lighting. The service was great and our server answered any questions we had with great expertise. In terms of food, the dishes are separated on the menu by vegetables/fish/meat, based on the base of the dish. I would definitely recommend getting something from each section if you don't have any dietary restrictions. Otherwise, this restaurant is quite vegetarian-friendly. My favorite dishes were the quail and the mushroom toast. We got the honey cake for dessert which was tasty and unique. Overall, I wasn't blown away by any particular dish, but everything was generally pretty tasty.

Emily K.

Yelp
A gem in the heart of Lakewood. I moved across the country and still make it a point to eat here as often as I can when I'm back to visit. The perfect shareable portions allows everyone to taste a little bit of everything making it an experience the whole table can share. My husband likes brussel sprouts because he tried them here first! The service is always impeccable and they are always willing to suggest favorites. The menu rotates often so you don't get bored but the white bean purée is a delightful constant. Don't forget to save room for desert. It's always delicious and creative. This place is on the short list for my favorite restaurant in the world. I bought a hoodie here last visit so I could represent down in Texa

Yelp
Heard great things about this restaurant so we came to check it out while visiting from LA. The interior is nice and sleek, it has an upscale feel that really distinguishes it from other Lakewood spots. The menu is full of small plates, and the recommendation is to get 2-3 a person. We ordered 6 plates for 2 people and wished we had cut a few. The honest answer is that some of them were great and some of them were just okay. Overall, we were happy enough with our meal, but not sure it was worth the $100 price tag. Service was pretty good. Our favorite dish was the white bean puree - loved how flavorful it was. The one dish we both agreed we could've done without was the smoked sea bream -- to us, the leek crema and roe just didn't feel like they complimented the taste of the fish well. We found it a bit lacking. Our favorite dishes were all the vegetable plates, and if we came back I'd probably concentrate on those.

Caroline L.

Yelp
Amazing meal! It's too hard to review individual dishes because the four of us ordered half the menu to share. Service (Jordan) was incredible and the drinks were yummy. Food was spectacular- we loved every dish we ate. Highly recommend.

Mark R.

Yelp
Our first time back in years to this tapas restaurant - was perfectly good though we thought a lot of the dishes lacked flavor, especially the seafood items. The veal skirt and beef cheeks were much better. Atmosphere is a bit odd - basically a square room with little adornment - with a small bar at the front. Cocktails were on point and the glasses of wine our server recommended were very good. Service was very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Overall a satisfactory experience but nothing that really elevated it from the rest of the Cleveland restaurant scene.

Tripti R.

Yelp
Salt is one of the most exceptional restaurants I've tried in Cleveland! Their menu is constantly changing so you get a chance to explore different menu items each time you visit. They have a good mix of vegetarian and gluten-free options. Their menu is also really diverse so pretty easy for a larger group to order whatever they want. Our server was really helpful and gave us helpful suggestions on what to order for the group. My favorites from the menu were the dumplings, burrata, and scallion pancakes. The food is extremely fresh, well prepared, and memorable. Salt is definitely on the pricier side so something to keep in mind. No complaints and this was a really excellent dining option in Cleveland.

Yelp
Always a good experience here. This was my fourth time dining at Salt and the quality of the food and service have been consistently excellent. Very hip and non-pretentious atmosphere where they focus on what's really important - food and drink. It's not a cheap meal by any means, but it's an experience and the dishes are all very interesting, creative and, above all, well-prepared. If you'd like to "wow" your taste buds and feel zero hesitation trying new cuisines (such as veal belly...really?), this is the place. Everything is shareable, so it's a perfect spot for a date or night out with friends. Just make sure your dining partner is adventurous or you may not have the chance to sample some of the more creative offerings!! All in all, I wouldn't ever hesitate to take someone here and recommend it to anyone I know. 5/5 for me!

Vivian H.

Yelp
What an amazing experience! We came here for an anniversary dinner and have absolutely no regrets. Something that immediately stood out to me was the spacing of the tables. The concern here is not how many people can fit into the restaurant, rather how those who are here can enjoy their evening and have a nice conversation. I really enjoyed how I did not have to yell in order to be heard by my partner, and I did not accidentally listen in to other conversations. Service was amazing and our server was incredibly knowledgeable about drinks and dishes. She recommended the Brussels sprouts which ended up being one of our favorite dishes of the night. Between the two of us, we ordered six dishes that came out in a preplanned order. I highly highly recommend the white bean puree as it's one of the only staples on this menu for a reason. The Brussels sprouts were also a must try. While the meats and fish dishes were incredible, I personally felt that their vegetable dishes were the star of the night. Overall, it's very clear that Salt takes the overall experience of a dinner very seriously and if you're looking for an experience and not just a meal, definitely come check this place out

Yelp
I yeah I couldn't cover all the laundry went in with an open mind and empty stomach. I left confused and hungry after a 120 food bill (+40 drinks +32 for tips). It wasnt necessarily the price that bothered me, but the food was so mid that we actually were somewhat entertained by it. Almost every dish had as laughing more than anything... Salad - very very onion forward watery salad ... i think the chef should try some of the salads (see Green Apple Salad) at souper market. Theres more going on in one of those for $8 and its enough for a meal in itself. Id dare say that some paner (gasp) salads would crush that salad ... we laughed it off and moved on Croquettes - slighty elevated mozz sticks ... tasted like instant mashed inside or something , very good for a stoner but .... $15 for 3 mozz sticks basically ... no mind blowing sauces or flavor combos... just tasted oily crunchy outside mushy mash inside savory ... we giggled on to the next one Chorizo - it looks like a cartoon bowl of Frank and beans and was just chopped up chorizo dog in a bowl of very al dente red beans. I get that beans can have a bite, but these were pretty toothsome. I'm writing this review. Its a beautiful restaurant and they were nice but also didn't even consider comping anything for our special occasion. Which is fine but somewhat uncommon around Lakewood.... most restaurants really will go an extra mile and give u a slice of cake or drink on the house. I dont ding them for that, the food was just so so mid. The service was polite.

Yelp
Finally got to try this spot out on a Saturday night! Love the ambiance it's very dim lit yet still feels cozy. I also love that they take reservations. We tried a few plates from each of the sections: the white bean purée , the carrot fries, the crab, the calamari, the pork croquettes, & the veal belly. The show stoppers were the calamari, pork croquettes and veal belly. The white bean purée and crab were good but not amazing and the carrot fries were not great. Will be back to try more things!

Yelp
Food 5.0 stars Service 4.0 Stars (depending on your server) Ambiance 3.5 stars Value 3.0 stars (price) Food has always been good. Hats off to all the kitchen staff. They got thru' Covid but the shift in eating out often, has changed forever. The restaurant business is tough even in the best of times so we're sad they're closing now. We all wish the owners best of luck as they move forward.

Yelp
I have seen this restaurant in multiple top restaurant in Cleveland restaurants and this has been on my list for a while. I had a good experience here. I have to give a special kudos to the drink menu. We tried multiple drinks and they were absolutely delicious! The menu was unique and was more vegetable forward than I anticipated. Almost every dish had a twist or flavor to it that I wasn't expecting. In this way, this menu is going to be memorable for me.

Yelp
I came here with some girlfriends last night and haven't been there in a very long time. I absolutely loved everything I tried, and the menu was so well done. I tried the beets, the white bean purée, and the beef Wagyu, all were absolutely delicious! They also have hand crafted cocktails and a great selection of beer and wine. It is a little pricey and I would say it's a fancy place so dress casual but nice. A great date night spot too! I'm so lucky that this place is less than a five minute drive from my house! Great service, food, drinks, location and atmosphere! :-)

Yelp
As Amba is my favorite restaurant in town, when a friend of mine suggested that we check out Salt+, I was intrigued. The ambiance at Salt+ is a cool one. There are a variety of tables with various heights, which is great, depending on your mood. Our server was EXTREMELY SWEET. She was attentive to all our needs and made sure to go over the menu, explaining what her favorites were and made suggestions on what she thought we'd enjoy the most. Out of everything that I tried, I'd say that the Purple Potato Latke with braised leeks, smoked beluga lentils, yogurt and fresh herbs was my favorite thing that I tried. It was both flavorful and hearty. While I enjoyed the food (and understand that the food was made for sharing), I do wish that the portions were slightly larger. While I prefer Amba, I'd definitely go back to Salt+. I got 3 plates and a drink, and spent about $62.

Kate S.

Yelp
I've eaten here and loved it before, but this latest spanish inspired menu was lack luster. It felt like most items were lacking flavor and were incredibly underwhelming. Would definitely come back for a different menu, but this one wasn't it sadly.

Heath A.

Yelp
Salt+ is on my regular rotation of restaurants in Lakewood. I have never had a bad thing on the menu. They have vegan and gluten free options, deliciously crafted cocktails, and an atmosphere for a casual night out or date night. Come out and support this woman owned restaurant. You won't be disappointed!

Marie S.

Yelp
Salt is one of the best small plates experiences that I have had in Cleveland. Something to keep in mind is that dining at Salt is pricey and they have a very small food and cocktail menu that changes frequently so it's not a guarantee that you'll be blown away depending on their offerings. With that being said, I knew what to expect going in, and I was genuinely impressed by what I got. I came with a group of 4 and we were recommended to order 2 plates per person. As with any small plates experience, I absolutely loved some dishes and would pass on others the next time around. The loves: Evelyn's Spanish G+T, pickled baby corn, charred tuna belly I was initially disappointed that they do not allow any alterations of their drinks because I am anti-ginger and wanted to take it out of another cocktail, so I felt I was settling for the Evelyn's Spanish G+T when I was turned down, but it ended up being delicious. My friends all liked their cocktails as well, so I guess we can call it serendipity! The pickled baby corn was a recommendation from the waitress and to my surprise it was INSANELY good. Its description sounded weird to me at first but when it came, I was thoroughly impressed. I thought it balanced the rest of our meal perfectly and I would get it again. The charred tuna belly was also a recommendation and had such a lovely texture and flavor. It was a mix of being soft and having a bite to it which I personally love. If you are sensitive about textures I would watch out for this one (one of my friends was creeped out by her bite), but if you like tuna even a little bit, this is the dish for you. (Maybe the moral of this story is to ask for recommendations from the waiter or waitress because everything they suggested was a 10/10 for me!) The mehs: pea puree/burrata, calamari, tea smoked rock shrimp, crispy fish skin/jojos (fish and chips!), duck fried rice, the sea bass/mussel special. The pea puree/burrata was fine and basically exactly as described, I was disappointed that it was stone cold, including the focaccia that it came with that was not toasted and slightly soggy from sitting with the other items on the plate. The calamari wasn't chewy (which was good) and wasn't crispy (less good but not the worst). I didn't mind the coconut glaze it was served on, I just found that this sweet flavor was in a couple of our other dishes as well and it got old fast. Tea smoked rock shrimp was fine, just another sweet fish dish which we had plenty of, and the shrimp didn't rock my world, although the chawanmushi (egg custard) was fun and yummy. I would recommend picking between the calamari and tea smoked rock shrimp to keep your taste buds from getting tired. The crispy fish skin/jojos was a fun take on fish and chips but I just felt if we hadn't ordered it, I wouldn't have missed it at all because it didn't add much substance to our meal. The duck fried rice was one of the more filling plates that we got, but I felt like it was something I could've easily cooked myself at home. The sea bass/mussel special came last and honestly, I think at the end of the meal I was tired of having fish. The portion on this dish was quite healthy, and I thought the bass and mussels were both cooked well, but it wasn't super memorable and if it hadn't arrived, I wouldn't have been mad about it. At the end of the meal I wasn't ~really~ full and because we weren't impressed by the dessert options we ended up going somewhere else, but I wouldn't take points away from Salt for that. I don't know if their dessert menu rotates along with the regular food/drinks, but the offerings were slim and didn't fit my palate. Looking back on my experience I would absolutely go back. There were more mehs than loves at my meal, I would still return because there were enough items that I enjoyed, and I'm definitely looking forward to their next menu drop. As long as you understand the concept and go in with the right mindset, Salt is a great time and worth visiting!

Yelp
Been here a couple times for dinner and really l loved the ambiance and atmosphere. It's a cozy, intimate spot that serves tapas, perfect for sharing. They also have a creative cocktail menu. Both the food and drink menu changes seasonally so it is always a new experience. The drinks were all incredible. The food could go either way. The white bean puree was delicious but I felt a couple other dishes fell short. Overall, it's a good spot for drinks/dinner but with the food, some dishes may be lackluster. Definitely make a reservation especially for popular dining times.

Jacqueline E.

Yelp
Food was just plain bad. The way the service handled the mistakes of the kitchen was also not good. We decided to leave after the first two orders arrived and they were super uncomfortable and rude about it. The calamari was gross, and the meatballs arrived cold. Everything was overpriced. The menu was pretentious and came in 3 different languages so it's hard to grasp what you're actually translating. Pick a theme, guys. This is just amateur. The descriptions sounded good; but weren't. The table next to us ordered a seafood dish we'd wanted, but when it came out, the fishy smell was so bad and overpowering we passed. The wine my friend ordered was good. We went to a different restaurant and were super happy we did. Not surprised they're closing in august.

Jamie S.

Yelp
If you're even slightly considering going to this restaurant, I literally do not know what you're waiting for. Get in the car right now, and go over there (but maybe make a res first because it's so wildly popular). Eating here will make you feel like you never really ate anywhere good before-- you think you liked that other place last week? You just didn't know how good it could truly be. We were there a week ago so we ordered off Menu 27 and can't wait to go back and try menu 28! We started off with drinks, and I got Salt's take on a coffee martini called the Wake Up. If I could only have on cocktail for the rest of my life, it would be that. It was so rich and creamy and the perfect amount of coffee and liquor. My friend got the Bougie Breakfast which was also beautiful and delicious. This place definitely does not slack on their presentation. Our first dish to arrive was the arctic char tartar with a smoked quail egg. When I say we both could not believe how delicious this was, we literally had no works. It was out of this world tasty, and we savored every second of it. The crispy homemade chips were the perfect vehicle for the tasty tartar. Next, we ate the lamb meatballs with sweet potato puree. While also insanely tasty, were probably our least favorite thing from the night (which is saying something since they were delicious). We finished off the evening with an order of the wagyu on french toast and the potato dumplings with leek cream. The wagyu was just as delicious as you would imagine with the shiitake marmalade and smoked maple vinaigrette, and the french toast base was an interesting addition. The potato dumplings were like little mashed potato balls with crispy exteriors in the best sauce ever. We decided to grab some dessert since everything was so great, and got an order of the chocolate cake and vanilla custard. The chocolate cake was quite small but incredibly dense and rich, and tasted like a solid milk chocolate bar in cake form. The vanilla custard was quite disappointing in both flavor and presentation, and definitely was not worth it to us. It was actually a bit shocking after the most delicious meal ever to receive the subpar custard which did not look how we imagined (as we expected ice cream for some reason) and had an addition of cranberries on top which I thought was quite strange. I can definitely say a lot of our success in picking the right dishes and drinks came down to us relying on our wonderful waitress to let us know her favorites and the best sellers of the place. Overall, I will definitely be coming back to this place, but will be skipping the dessert in the future! Stick to the main dishes as that is what they do best!

Yelp
An absolute delight of a meal on a beautiful sunny Summer day. The decor of the inside is beautiful, but the taste translates to their beautifully decorated patio. Starting with service, we had a 5 star experience with Alexandra taking care of us. Salt's menu has plenty of creative and innovative small plates, but adds to that with several equally interesting specialists. The suggestion will be to order 2-3 small plates per person and share, you won't go wrong with this ratio. We started with the special of grilled eggplant, kale and greek yogurt that was an amazing vegetarian dish. Followed that with the rock shrimp, equally delicious. The corn dish was the least favorite in our table, but it was still very good and beautifully plated. The next three were again highlights - the charred tuna is to die for, the lamb belly a really wonderful combination with the chermoula sauce and the grilled peach, and the sturgeon and caviar an impressive combo as well. To end it all, probably the best panna cotta I've had in Cleveland and one of the best I've had in the US. Their cocktail and wine list is also very interesting, with some off-the-beaten-path offerings. A delight of a restaurant from start to finish, highly recommended.

Yelp
The food and service was fantastic. So wonderful that we didn't get any photos, but this one of our cocktail. We had the bean purée, asparagus, new potatoes, burrata, and so much more. We enjoyed the small shareable plates.

Yelp
We were excited to try Salt, that quickly diminished upon walking thru the front door. We like to sit in a bar setting and have dinner, they had reserved signs everywhere on the bar and it was completely empty. The hostess said it was so "random people" did not sit there without reservations- but we could sit at the bar if we wanted. (saturday evening and the dining room was less than 1/2 full) that should have been a clue. It was obvious the bartender was less than thrilled to have us. The most disappointing part was the food. I will say the Gazpacho was very good except I asked for some bread or croutons and was given one small slice of toasted sourdough and was charged $1.00. The muscles were bland and very small, only about 10 in the bowl again no bread to taste the sauce. The Calamari could have been good, but it was very undercooked. The worst were the stuffed red peppers - they were cold red peppers from a jar, we could taste the vinegar. They were not stuffed at all, laid flat with about 5-7 small crumbles of feta cheese and 3 leaves of cilantro on top, I kid you not. The asiago crisps -2 of them -were burnt so badly they were not chewable and had to be spit out. Very disappointing, 4 small plates, one glass of wine and one glass of Sangria set us back $95.04 plus a 20.00 tip. I am not kidding when I tell you we were both still hungry, Don't go here for ambiance, service or value. If you do, make sure you eat first. Never again.

Jay C.

Yelp
My girlfriend took me there when we were in Cleveland. The food was great, the waitstaff was attentive and the atmosphere was romantic. We were both very pleased and had a fantastic time.

Yelp
3.5/5 overall rating. I finally visited this restaurant with fellow Yelper, Gina L. on December 30, 2020. For the second to last day of the year, the restaurant was occupied with people which wasn't surprising. COVID-19 SEATING -- I was disappointed that they would not let my friend and I socially distance. The restaurant has booth seating towards the wall which is where my friend was seated when I arrived. They would not let me sit across from my friend because I would be too close to the people behind me. That didn't make any sense because the people behind me were seated on both sides of their booth seat and there were people seated behind them too. So if other people could seat across from each other then why couldn't my friend and I? Why would they only let me to sit directly next to my friend, barely 3 feet apart, yet alone the 6 feet that you need?!?! I was disappointed in this but I still sat and ate dinner. FOOD -- They serve small plates or Tapas. I got 1 vegetable plate and 1 meat. My friend got 2 vegetable plates. We both split the calamari (fish plate). MY ORDER -- The braised mushrooms, au jus ("with juice"), and tomato jam ($11) was the vegetable plate that I ordered. I loved the meat like consistency of the mushrooms paired with the sweetness of the tomato jam. There was something a little off with the taste (maybe too sweet?) but nothing terrible. My next order was the meatloaf, crispy yams, and chili hoisin ($13). Again, this had a different after taste than what I'm used to but it was edible and good. I enjoyed the crunch of the crispy yams. SHARED PLATE -- My friend and I both ordered the Calamari to share. This was my favourite side dish of the night. The coconut glaze (light sauce) was a great combination with the calamari. A simple side dish but very yummy. Overall, besides the weird seating arrangement, I enjoyed my night and I'd like to visit again POST COVID. I enjoyed great conversation with my friend, good customer service, and unique dinner (small plates). Thanks again Gina L. for treating me to dinner (paying). You're DA REAL MVP!! Yelp
One of the best tapas style/small plate restaurants in Cleveland area. Great for coming with friends, share food and have fun! A bit pricey but worth it!

Yelp
Came with sister for a birthday celebration - great ambiance. Our reservation table wasn't ready when we arrived by the host was so kind, apologetic, and accommodating - we got a great table after the fact and the food was delicious. Think tapas-style / shareable. The white bean appetizer was delicious - think humus but not chickpeas. The salad was very light and pears were a lovely addition. The monkfish was great but the collard greens and sauce, I feel, didn't pair as well. The last 2 dishes were amazing - pork osso and the lamb shoulder meatball skewers. There were definitely many other dishes I would have loved to try but being stuffed was the limiting factor. Would definitely go back again.

Yelp
I was so impressed with my experience here!! Came here on a date night with my SO and loved it! Expect to drop some money, but worth it imo. Whether you're looking for a nicer restaurant to celebrate a special occasion or just come with a group of friends for the heck of it, I would highly recommend. This is a tapas style restaurant so we ordered multiple small dishes to try between the two of us. The menu is separated into vegetables (not vegetarian!), fish, and meat sections. The menu frequently rotates, but we ordered a variety of small plates including fried oyster, corn cakes, king crab. In total, we ordered 6 small plates and 2 desserts between the two of us and we were STUFFED. I really enjoyed the creativity in the use of ingredients for each of their plates. When reading the description of some of the plates, I was really amazed by the way one dish combined so many different flavors with unique presentation! Did not order drinks, but will probably coming back to try some of their cocktails! Overall, great service, ambience, and food if you're looking for a nicer sit-down tapas-styled dining experience in the Lakewood area.

Yelp
We had to give this one a 3, it just didn't live up to all of the great press. We came in for dinner on a Saturday night at around 5:45pm for our anniversary. It's a cozy looking interior, but I will say, it was actually pretty cold in there- most of the ladies in the restaurant kept jackets or coats over their shoulders. Our waitress was friendly, and she offered us a free drink since it was a special occasion. For food, between the 2 of us we ordered 9 of the dishes to share (they recommend about 3 dishes for each person). We got the white bean puree, the beets, oyster mushroom kebabs, trout, grilled sardines, ostrich, schnitzel, lamb neck shawarma, and chicken liver pate. Most of the food was okay, we just weren't especially blown away by anything, and most of it was overpriced for the quantity and originality of the food. For example, the mushrooms were tasty but there were 2 skewers, and literally you could finish the whole plate full in 1 bite... The beets were tasty, but I've basically created the same dish at home without even thinking, and it was way cheaper. The meats were good, our favorite being the lamb. Our favorite dish of the night was the trout which had a nice crispy skin, and the bed of lentils was a nice complement. The low of the meal was definitely the sardines. To be fair, our waitress did warn us that they come head and all, just simply grilled. My husband really disliked the dish. It didn't bother me as much, but my main gripe was that they were a little to big of fish to just chew the bones to stop you from choking, but they were a little small to definitively debone at the table... Just not something I'd put on the menu if this were my restaurant. The food was just okay, but our overall experience was just sprinkled with small inconveniences. The actual dishes the food was served in were hard to get food out of (90 degree edges to the lips of the plates which would catch food in them; no spoon to clean a puree out of a bowl), and the silverware left much to be desired (the handle for the knives is so stupid. You'll see if you come here, it stacks with the fork pretty, but it's just clumsy to use. Also, definitely does NOT cut tougher meats. For example, the ostrich was nearly impossible to cut with the knives at the table, and they do not bring out a steak knife with that dish). Our last gripe was the pacing of the meal. Our waitress was very confident when she seated us that she would pace out the meal to make it a very enjoyable experience. Our first 3 or 4 dishes came out perfectly, just as we finished one, we received our next dish. The last 4 dishes were another story. We had a long lull of maybe 10 minutes without any food, got 2 dishes at once (we like each dish separately so we can finish each while it is still fresh and hot), had ANOTHER lull of at least 10 minutes, and then got our next 2 dishes at the same time. I wouldn't be as hard on them about that, except that the waitress seemed to take a lot of pride in how she thought she'd be able to pace the meal. Overall, the food was fine. I just don't understand why this restaurant gets so much praise, especially when there are other restaurants like Jaja, Amba, Cordelia, and Zhug that are all small plates and have more memorable food as well as better value, as the plates at these other restaurants are more sizeable and more shareable. It's not bad, but I would not make a special trip to Lakewood to come here. I'd probably not recommend it to others, and I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
This was our second time at Salt and they just don't disappoint. The atmosphere is great, service is wonderful, and I love the food. We ordered 5 small plates to share and it was the perfect amount for the 2 of us! My favorites from this menu were the waygu tenderloin and the skate wing, but everything was delicious. The white bean purée we didn't get this time, but it's always on the menu and is SO good. They change their menu about every 10 weeks. Can't wait to come back for a new menu in the future!

Yelp
We have been to Salt+ many times and we've always enjoyed the food and service. It's been fresh and high-quality, well worth the price. The majority of our meal this night was very good, but we were also very disappointed in two of the dishes. I don't recall being disappointed with any dish in the past... The grilled prawns, beets, grouper (amazing!), Wagyu skirt steak, and smoked pork tenderloin were wonderful! However, the crispy artichokes were disappointing. We expected fresh artichokes, but instead we were served briny, canned or bottled artichokes. We looked forward to the goat cheese cheesecake for dessert, expecting a wedge of cheesecake. Instead, we were brought this tiny, preformed graham cracker shell filled with a minuscule amount of whipped goat cheesecake filling. Huge disappointment! When the server had asked how things were I expressed that we were expecting a slice of cheesecake. She explained that it was a no-bake cheesecake. That should've been on the menu. I would never have ordered it if I knew it was a no-bake cheesecake. The filling had a good flavor, but not the texture nor type we expected. Please consider updating your dessert menu to include the words "No bake" to the description. I hope the new business ventures don't interfere with the exceptional quality Salt+ has been known for.

Yelp
This is my second time here and it was just as good as I remember. It was fun as the menu changed and I could try some new food. My step mom and I shared a few bites as this is a tapas type of place and meant to be shared (obviously can get your own as well). Highly recommend you come in and try every couple months as they change their menu every 10 weeks.

Yelp
I have but one regret in reviewing this restaurant...why did it take us so long to come here and give them a try?!?!? All those wasted years! :-( We celebrated my wife's birthday here and the ambiance, service and quality of food were all top notch! I had mentioned to our server that we were celebrating a special occasion, and she brought us each a glass of sparkling wine to celebrate...what a thoughtful touch! As we sipped away, we ordered some cocktails and planned our small plate tasting strategy for the evening. The loud clap cocktail was quite fruity for a Bourbon-based drink, but it went down smooth. We did a ton of tastings (they recommend 2-3 small plated per person). The fried yucca sticks were creamy on the inside and cut like French fries, dusted with miso and severed with a French onion dip. The roasted beets were topped with a bitey feta cheese and a tangy vinaigrette dressing. Their version of a salad consisted of small lettuce heads topped with peas, sliced radishes, crumbs and a buttermilk vinaigrette. The calamari was one of the most unique takes we've tasted yet...lightly flour dusted and flash fried, then served with a coriander coconut glaze giving them an Asian flare with a hint of sweetness. Their presentation and preparation of the pork short ribs was fantastic, it was fall-apart tender and sweetened with a maple glaze stop both the meat and the braised chard it was served with. The lamb chorizo meatballs also had an Indian flare served atop chickpeas, a tomato jam, mint chutney and a cooling yogurt sauce. The best dish of the night was the oxtail served alongside rice porridge and pickled veggies (mushrooms and asparagus)...this dish was so unctuous and rich I wanted to make sur to call it out specifically! For dessert we had both the white chocolate mousse (with candied citrus) and the dark chocolate pate which had a bittersweet chocolate taste topped with a blackberry compote and shredded coconut. One of the top meals we've ever had in Cleveland. Period.

Yelp
Menu with lots of interesting options and a nice wine selection. Enjoyed the food and the experience. We had a group so we tried a number of different selections. Service was good. Only thing that i didn't love was the price but besides that I recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Delicious large-for-tapas menu items labeled as small plates. We went for the chicken liver pate but they were out of it. The bronzini was seared well with nicely melting carrot butter below and some greasy green beans or snap peas atop. The calamari I wrongly assumed would not be fried given the artisanal, fresh and eclectic nature of the other dishes. It came out as a plate of lightly fried calamari with negligible fruity coconutty glaze which was in too little portion underneath it all. The calamari was good but how great can fried calamari be when it is on every menu everywhere, you know? The best dish was the pork rib which came with slices of asparagus, small rings of pickled onions, and a unique sauce I cannot entirely recall. The meat was in good portion and a nice mix of muscle and fat. The cocktail menu is unique like the food menu which is exciting. Most drinks aren't edit-able even to reduce the sugar which is odd and and prevents people who are used to less sweet drinks or substituting sugar for stevia from trying all they have to offer. I did get them to make me a Bitter Orange with half the maple syrup. It was phenomenal! This place is not cheap. There was live acoustic music unfortunately.

Yelp
Great food and great ambience! I was looking for a very different restaurant to celebrate a birthday and this was perfect. Definitely check it out if you are reading these reviews and wondering if you should go or not. The plates are small plates but depending on which one you get, some are bigger than the others. Drinks are great and strong so they don't cheat you on the alcohol. Again, even though it was small plates - we ordered 6 plates in total and was full/content. Would definitely go back as the menu changes.

Yelp
Goodness, what a tasty place! I don't think I've been anywhere that used corn to such great effect, and the halibut was even more impressive. It's got a pretty fun late-night dinner lounge feel, with old brick and glowing rocks sprinkled about ('salt rocks', probably!). There's a stage to one corner inside, and I was lucky enough to be there when someone was playing music. Even luckier - he was darn good on the guitar. Great place for small plates and full-sized drinks!

Yelp
Just the exact vibe I love in a restaurant. The decor is pretty, but not fancy. The tables are well-spaced. The cocktail are interesting but only $12-14. The plates are "small plates", but definitely have enough to share and won't leave you feeling bloated after. The server was terrific and the service was fast. Would love to return.

Yelp
Food was good, drinks were good. Service was great, but c'mon with the plate sizes. I didn't skimp, I heard the plates were small. Two of us order SEVEN (7) plates (that I ate the majority of) and I still left hungry. I'm not Joey Chestnut either, I'm a lean man who doesn't have an extreme appetite by any measure. I get that costs are everything in this business and you want to max revenue, but carbs are basically free. There's a laffer curve here. The second a table goes over $50/head give them free dessert or something. Can't go back, or recommend anyone else go, just knowing I will leave hungry WHILE dropping a decent chunk of money. I'm not sure I would have filled up had I order 3 more plates. 10 plates for 2 people to have a full meal? No thanks. 2 stars for quality of food and service only.

Yelp
One of the best experiences in Cleveland Jessica and Jill are awesome. Get 3-4 small plates and a couple cocktails. Everything about this place is great

Yelp
This is a gem hiding in a neighborhood The bartender Cory will serve you killer cocktails and the service is excellent! Taking about the food... what a impressive surprise! When you enter you don't think much about the place but the presentation, flavor combinations are a hit! Perfect portions, and if you like to try a lot of things in the menu this is the perfect place for you! Absolutely a must in Cleveland!

Yelp
Exceptional food, ambiance and experience. The flavor and creativity of each dish is impressive and the next time we are in Cleveland we plan to go again. Must haves - Veal breast - Mushroom johnnycake - Sole - White bean puree

Yelp
I went a few years ago and it was truly phenomenal. It's very expensive and the portions are small so be sure to save up maybe $200 but the experience is totally worth the treat. Wonderful service and environment

Yelp
Love this style - great cocktails and small plates. Only ho hum plate was beet salad. Must order was the rock shrimp.

Yelp
I'm just going to start by saying if you are a local and have not tried Salt in Lakewood, you should be ashamed of yourselves !! Presentation was wonderful atmosphere was cozy, but the most important was the food and it was phenomenal. So much flavor in each dish and if your not aware the dishes are small plates so please try more then one. They have a little something for everyone rather you're a vegetarian pescatarian, or carnivore like myself you will find a plate thats to your liking. My favorite was the venison tenderloin, sweet and sour green beans and bacon jam. Mouth watering and deliciously tender. Omg I'm making myself a reservation this week I can't stop thinking about it! Tell them #TSFOODIE. Sent ya!!

Yelp
Yum. Great food and service in a sultry atmosphere complete with live music (on a Tuesday!). Tapas style shared plates. Enjoyed every bite and sip.

Yelp
Salt is a cute spot in Lakewood serving up tapas and cocktails in a rustic restaurant that's perfect for a relaxed weekend dinner or a date night! This was our third time back, and while they have constantly rotating menus, tonight wasn't our favorite one, but was still pretty good. Servings are small- so plan on ordering 2 plates per person, more if you're hungry. - Cocktail: I had the devil's punch which was an excellent rum based cocktail that was just the right amount of sweet. - Food: Our favorites of the night were the calamari, beef cheek and the duck fried rice. The ones we would skip next time were the cauliflower kimchi and the shrimp. - Service: Excellent, prompt and polite, not at all rushed.
