The Charcuterie Champ From West Loop Salumi Returns as Salumi Chicago | Eater Chicago

"A newly launched salumi brand set to resume production in late July and to develop a retail concept likely in the West Loop; the founder has partnered with a finance professional new to hospitality to create a communal-style spot offering cheese, charcuterie, tinned seafood and beer, wine, and cider. Production will come from a large new facility, with an emphasis on removing sulfites, sourcing meat from small Midwestern farmers (especially in Illinois), continuing popular items like pork snack sticks, and introducing new collaborative products such as prosciutto, wild boar salumi, a beer-infused salumi, a blood chorizo, and a halal-certified wagyu bresaola. Initial retail placement is planned at specialty shops locally, with broader distribution targeted to several other states." - Kat Odell

Local Porter Food Supply Co. Review 2020 | The Strategist | New York Magazine

"A Chicago charcuterie maker known for bold, chef‑quality cured meats: its ’nduja—a cured-pork and Calabrian‑chile spread—is valued for adding funky, salty depth to sauces, mac and cheese, and many other dishes, while its beef bresaola is hand-cured and aged for 110 days and works well on charcuterie boards. Its products are used by top local chefs, including Grant Achatz of Alinea." - Ariel Kanter

I’ve gotten this sausage about 10 times. 50% of the time it is inedible and wet/soggy smells gross I pay $15 every time, so really $30 for a negative experience. Why is it wet!?!

Received my N'Duja and Tatufo Salumi today. Fantastic!!!! They both went on my pizza in my wood fired oven. What a treat. Will be ordering often.

I've gotten salumi a few times and the product is delicious and very high quality, the only time I had a problem, ordered through amazon and amazon sent an expired product, Salumi Chicago immediately responded and more than made it right, fully refunding me and sending multiple replacement products. They're a wonderful small business who stands by their product. Would recommend them to everyone.

I'm obsessed. I feel bad for all the reviews on mixed up orders and people complaining as I received my first online order after being obsessed by the finocchiona which I purchased at the upscale Erewhon Grocery store in Pacific Palisades CA location and had to have more! I ordered several of the 5.3 oz club and they all shipped and arrived perfectly. Now onto my 2nd order - can't wait!

Received the Barolo and Finecchione salamis. Today is February 7 and the order went in on January 28. The salami are now resting in my refuse bin. This company does not have an additional shipping expense for refrigeration. I live in Naples, Florida and I would have gladly paid for having the salami sent to me in edible condition. When I call and leave a message no one calls back. I hope this company can make it. I usually do not give negative feedback but when is the case of food I like to follow a cautious Avenue.

UPDATE: Right after this review posted, the mysterious missing Copa was located at Salumi Chicago, and my husband got his credit for it. Guess the review caught their attention. It shouldn't be this way, but they finally did the right thing. ************************************************ Terrible company! My husband placed a $119 order in early November 2023 and they sent us a $69 copa that had a label on it with an expiration date in June 2023 but it was supposed to be a special production of only 52 for this year, so obviously there was a problem with quality assurance. Sent the copa back with the label they emailed to my husband, it was tracked and delivered to them on Nov. 30, but my husband still hasn't received a refund as promised. Nobody ever answers the phone, and we are disgusted. If the owner said they didn't get a return copa under my name, my question is, how many other returns are they getting that they couldn't figure it out? The return name and address was on the package with THEIR label on it. Very poor excuse. Go look for it and make it right.

If I could give them no stars I would. I placed an order on January 7, 2022, that I have not received and my efforts to reach the company have never been answered. Huge red flag when you can't reach customer service. I disputed the charge and Salumi's claims to the credit card company are that this is a legit charge even though I never received the food. The order shows it as unfulfilled. How is this even legal? I have my doubts this company is still in business. REVISION: Owner got in touch with me after earlier review and apologized for everything. My emails were apparently lost in spam. The reply to the credit card company, he said he would investigate. He made things right with a food gift, but, unfortunately, what I ordered in early January has been out of stock for several months. In short, I accept his apology and attempt at making things right. I am changing my rating to 3 stars because customer service probably needs some fine tuning so this doesn't happen again.

After peeling the salumi, it had an unpleasant, gooey texture. It did not taste pleasant either. I paid extra for expedited shipping and it still took over a week to arrive. Additionally, when I wanted to return the unopened packages, my emails have gone unanswered. The website says to initiate a return, you must email the company. I would avoid.
