If you're in Manhattan's Upper East Side and in need of a quick, satisfying lunch, Salvo's is a solid option. My friend and I stopped in for a couple of slices and went straight for the case. The Meat Lovers slice is a savory carnival of mozzarella, tomato sauce, ground beef, pepperoni, and sausage that proves more is definitely more when it comes to toppings. Each bite is a meaty delight that keeps you going back for another mighty mouthful. Meanwhile, the Chicken & Broccoli slice brings a balance of freshness and flavor that's a welcome twist on the usual suspects. It's a slice that's got your back, whether you're craving something hearty or looking to trick yourself into eating a little healthier (vegetables and all). The tender chicken, well-cooked cooked broccoli, and ample cheese sit atop a crust that's crisp yet chewy, giving each bite a satisfying crunch and plenty of flavor. Overall -- the vibe was casual, the service was quick and Salvo's knows how to toe the line between crunch and chew. While it might not be reinventing the wheel, it's a reliable spot for a lunch that's sure to please.

First of all, I have now been to about 10 pizza joints in the Upper East Side and no one can get a plain slice right, and most can't even get a fresh mozzarella slice right and/or add sugar.... That being said, the plain slices here are so skimpy you would need a full large pie to fill you up. Barely any cheese, barely any bread, and even less tomato sauce to the point that you barely can tell there is tomato sauce or this is pizza. The employees are incredibly rude and hostile. The guy taking orders is just yelling out "Next!" and everything is chaos. No one says hello or thank you at any point. The bigger issue is that Manhattan and Brooklyn in 2025 have zero good plain slice or pizzerias left. My guess is management in these places are trying to save money, just give us slices with cheese and bread but barely any tomato sauce. I am done with Pizza forever because I can't find a decent slice anywhere anymore. Amazing that this place exists, it looks beautiful inside with a few newer flatscreens but the pizza slices are such thin crust they may as well be the width of paper, the employees go out of their way to yell, are rushing and panicked and are hostile. Definitely not the best pizza in the world, but nonetheless a very convenient and tasty spot to grab a slice. They have a wide selection of pies, suiting any occasion. The pizza itself is nice, and I love the way they make the crust, as it is always perfectly to my liking, and doesn’t feel like cardboard. My criticisms are that the cheese is a little salty and the pepperoni pizza I got was surprisingly greasy, but overall a nice, welcoming spot to get a taste of some pizza.

I don’t understand how Salvos doesn’t have 5 stars from every reviewer!!! This will forever be my favorite pizzeria. The margarita slices are out of this world. YUM

Salvo’s serves a great New York slice! The service is super friendly and they’ve got plenty of seating for you to enjoy your za. If you’re looking for pizza in the UES, I’d recommend Salvos. The pepperoni slice was great, not too greasy or cheesy. The BBQ chicken was also surprisingly tasty!

Most people in NYC know that if you want good pizza, hit up BX, BK or Queens. Manhattan is ridden with too many cheap, inauthentic pizzerias that target tourists. Salvos’s is one exception. Their food quality, customer service and cleanliness are top notch! We were gracefully greeted and served by Evan, who is an excellent waiter and made us feel right at home. Then Gina, one of the owners came to our table and chatted for a while and gave us the story on how they came to own Salvo’s and completely turn it from a rundown restaurant to the quality establishment it is today. We’re excited to return soon for a more robust menu experience and to make a YouTube review video of the place! (I’ll post that here when complete). I highly recommend this place if you’re on the UES!!

I ordered from this place last week and the pizza was phenomenal. And then I ordered again today and it is completely substandard. I ordered two slices and it was very clear the cheese pizza had been sitting around for a while. And then the other piece cost me $10 because I asked for toppings. It was clear that they had just taken some other piece of pizza and placed some toppings on it and not even baked them in because they were flying all over the place. All in all, I don't know if it's worth trying this place again for me.

Excellent local pizza spot! My friend and I came here trying to find a good slice of pizza, and discovered Salvo's. He ordered the mushroom slice and I had the chicken parm slice. We agreed this was a great choice for dinner. The thin crust has the perfect crunchy texture and the quality is great. I just came back a second time and can confirm the pepperoni is great as well. The pizzeria is also very clean and the staff is friendly. I appreciate the calming atmosphere of the restaurant too. Bring cash if you can, there is a very slight price difference for cash over card.

Go-to pizza place mainly in the neighborhood. I took out one star because their pasta is just meh. The pizza is solid for NYC though I wouldn't say exceptional or amazing. It's definitely an "any time" type pizza. Service is pretty fast and ambience is typical for New York City pizza.

I ordered a pizza for takeout and it was ready quickly. The staff is always very nice. I got the meat lover's pizza and it was good, but greasy.

This place is a neighborhood gem! Its very family friendly and has excellent service! We eat here often and love everything we have had. The pasta fagioli soup is excellent (my daughter calls it her favorite soup), the penne vodka is great, garlic knots are on point and the chicken marsala and chicken Santorini are our go-tos. Also love the garlic and oil pasta!

This is an Amazing spot on the UES. It is the closest to authentic pizza you can get in the city! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of their menu items.

The pizza here is bland, watery and lacking in flavor but York Avenue doesn't have high standards. The reason for this review is that the dining shed in front of Salvo's is partially blocking the crosswalk sign so you can't fully see it on the other side of the street. Considering the 4 lanes of often speeding traffic on York and the 2 one way streets turning into the intersection, that is especially dangerous. Couple this with the fact that Mano, the beloved bodega worker across the street died crossing this intersection to get a slice at Salvo's and was fatally struck by a taxi, we already know this is a dangerous intersection. There is also an elementary school, library, post office on the block and John Jay Park down the street. This dining shed hasn't been used in months and is taking up space and while I couldn't care less if there is one less parking spot, I don't want to see someone struck in this intersection again. Please (re)move this shed. Update: gratitude to the Department of Transportation as within two days of complaining to 311 that this business blocked a pedestrian traffic signal with the roof of their disused dining shed, the dining shed was moved several feet away from the intersection in question. I can only hope that Salvo's received a large fine for the unsafe conditions that they perpetuated.

This place is my new favorite pizza place. Yes I live close, but I've also now gone often and have begun to appreciate the sheer volume they handle with grace. There's never a cross word between the staff. Yesterday they must have had 20 people roll through while my pie was coming out of the oven and they worked like a well oiled machine. While it is not fancy, the ambiance is peaceful and that beats Instagramable every time in my book. Plus the pizza is delicious, every single time. You can trust it.

So far this is my favorite pizza place on the Upper East Side! It's easy to walk in and get a few slices to go or order full pizzas online. Their pepperoni pizza is good. Their garlic knots are some of the best I've had, and they are a good size. I'm not a fan of the marinara sauce that comes with the garlic knots, but besides that I love this place. They accept cards here.

Have to say the chicken parm hero was tasteless, cold, and literally, 2 very thin sliced cutlets, no sauce and honestly not worth the amount that was charged. And to top it off they charge a fee for using your debit card which is cash out of your bank. Called and got absolutely no resolution other than "I will speak with my manager" to put more chicken on a hero. No compensation and no one got on the phone who is a manager. New owners are dreadful. Don't pay good money after bad. Find another place

Very excellent pizza! In a city filled with pizza joints, it's sadly become harder and harder to find a good NY slice. But this place has just that. Awesome NY slice. Quality ingredients, great dough/crust, sauce that's slightly on the sweeter side (which i love). LOVE their veggie pies too. A+

The crust was bland and dry. The sauce is unnoticeable even on the grandma's pie where sauce is spread in dollops. The pepperoni tastes cheap like the cheese. This is one of those sad cases where eating with your eyes is better than eating with your mouth. The place did not look clean inside or outside, and the communal water jug did not have glasses available. With all the amazing pizza there is within a quarter-mile, I'm surprised people go here.

Salvo's is a solid NY pizza spot. It maintains a good variety of slices. I'd recommend the eggplant (somewhat unique and very flavorful) and the margherita (a well-executed classic). All Salvo's pizzas are thin, cheesy, and walk the fine line between snappy and doughy crust. One critique: I'd skip the salads. The Caesar is simply not good. It comes as a small pile of basic iceberg lettuce, drowned in a thin dressing (that does not taste housemade, I might add). It's not worth ordering. Especially for $9.00. Overall though, the staff is friendly. The prices are competitive for the neighborhood. And most importantly, the pizza is delicious. Salvo's is probably my favorite spot in the neighborhood to order a pie from.

It's not my first time here, me and my wife been ordering from that place for years, and what makes us always come back is their tasty dishes. One word - Delicious! The sauce, the crust, and the amount of crisp is just fantastic. Fast service and the most friendly staff in NYC!!! Lots of inside and outside seating , can't go wrong here . Highly recommended and price is the most affordable price in Upper east side we definitely will come back

Pizza is pretty good and portions are huge (I got a grandmas pizza and it was enough to feed me for the week!) but the online ordering is clunky and the service is not so great.. I made an online pickup order through Yelp and it took a while for the restaurant to confirm my order. Since I live pretty close to the restaurant, I decided to just take my chances and show up to the restaurant and wait for my order. I did call the restaurant before to see if they got my order but the person who picked up the phone was very curt and unfriendly. -1 for customer service.. Luckily, when I arrived, the pizza was ready (not sure why I never got a notification saying that it was ready - I suspect if I didn't come and check in person, my food would have just been sitting in the back). The man at the cash register looked unhappy and looked irritated when I told him I was there to pick up my order (maybe the same guy I spoke to on the phone?) Despite the lackluster service and ordering process, the pizza was really good! Probably on my top three list of pizza in NYC for square shaped pizza. Slices were all evenly cut and leftovers tasted great throughout the week. Skip the garlic knots though - it is inexpensive (2 for .50) but there wasn't anything noteworthy about them. I probably wouldn't order online again, but I will definitely come back for some take out.

It's hard to find good pizza in the UES, and after trying a bunch of places, I think this will be my new go-to for cheese pizza. It was classic New York cheese pizza done well. Crust was soft on the edges and crispy on the bottom, and none of it was soggy. Sauce was nicely flavored and not too salty. It was cheesy without being too oily. Also very affordable. Would highly recommend.

Salvio's Pizzabar has to be one of the Best Italian eateries in the upper eastside. If you want eat the best chicken marsala in the city, this is your place. My friend had a garden salad with grilled chicken and she ate every bite. Evan the server is the nicest, friendliest most attentive person working at a restaurant, today. Kudos to the Chef for such a great meal and to Evan's Boss for hiring such a great Waiter.

When I entered this fine establishment I was swiftly taken aback by the stench. The pizza was cardboard, the sprite was so hot and overall the mood was just sad. While I was eating there was live wires and the lights were being turned off and on.

Chicken Parm Hero is "sub"par - no pun intended. Very soggy and sauce is flavorless very salty / acidic. Caesar Salad is basic. You can make a better one at home for less money with a basic Caesar Salad kit from the market. Pizza is basic nothing spectacular but a good spot for a quick slice.. but never getting dinner food here again. On the plus side Service is always excellent and very friendly.

This place has been amazing since the new management took over a few months ago. The slices have been consistently fresh and delicious. They have a full kitchen also. So far ive done a chicken salad, which was amazing too. Looking forward to trying more on their menu. The staff are very friendly and give the pizza shop that special "cheers" of the neighborhood atmosphere. Just look at that mug on that jolly fellow. Lastly, it looks like they cleaned up what was a garbage sludge stained sidewalk next to the shop. Looking so much much better.

This pizza place looked very inviting and homey whenever I walked past it and it lived up to it. The staff was very friendly even as I did takeout for two slices. The slices themselves were HUGE! Definitely worth the money for a NYC slice. I got the chicken bacon ranch, which was filled with lots of toppings and tasted really good (could've used a little bit more ranch, however). And the pepperoni slice was a classic - the tomato sauce was most notable, tasted different, in a good way, compared to other pizza places I've tried. Overall, I would want to come back again and sit down or takeout food to try more!

My best friend loves the pizza here, it's her go to after leaving the Pool nearby. Went there today as per usual. We got a plain pizza pie with wings and French fries. I also tried a slice of their margarita pizza. The margarita I wasn't too crazy about but their plain cheese pie and the fries were tasty! Salvo's has an outdoor area. I forgot to add that this is oven coal pizza!! I find pizza tastes so much better when it's cooked via a coal oven. The staff there were also friendly and attentive, with the exception of one young man who was pretty rude and seemed annoyed. Needless to say we will be back because at this point it's a routine post pool visit. Haha

They messed up our order - after we had a conversation about exactly what we wanted, and it being something that we had received from them many times before. When we called to have it corrected, were told that they were busy, it was our fault, that we were rude and they hung up. The manager was horrible, the staff is untrained, and unwilling to correct their mistakes. Order from somewhere else.

Mildly infuriating that they kept the Salvo's name after transferring ownership. This pizza may be delivery, but still tastes like DiGiorno. I offered a slice to a rat on the street and he turned it down.

The worst service ! Rude staff ! The pizza dough is so dry!!!!!! We will not be back! What a shame!

Use to be my favorite pizza place in the city but recently new ownership took over and changed the pizza recipe and now unfortunately the pizza is inedible the crust is awful tastes like a stale slice. Please go back to the old owners recipe please.

The servers are friendly and attentive! They're also very good about gluten-free options; there's little to no upcharge, and separate pans and pizza cutters are used. Leftovers reheat well too. We didn't love Salvo's the first time we went a year ago, but we're glad we gave it a try under the new ownership and had a much better experience! We'll be back.

This is my 2nd visit to NYC with the first being back in 2009, but we were only here for a day so we didn't get a chance to try much...now that my son has moved here we decided to come visit him and he told us about this place which is not that far from his place. I absolutely love pizza and this was the best by far and I plan to stop by here before we leave next week and try another one and even their salads

Nothing too special about this place and the big windows make it a little chilly in winter, but we were very pleasantly surprised here! We were craving pasta with meat sauce and found this on yelp. We ended up getting a slice of pizza to split after seeing they had pizza with vodka sauce which is one of my favorites. Found the pizza to be pretty good (as good as it can be when it's been sitting out for a while). We definitely enjoyed it. The pasta portions were HUGE (ended up with leftovers that made up two more meals EACH). We tried the carbonara with fettuccini and spaghetti bolognese. Both were heaping portions. Personally I liked the carbonara better - I found it to be extremely flavorful for a sometimes simple dish. Was just as great reheated. The bolognese was my friend's favorite, so I guess we have nothing bad to say. A lot of in and out of customers and it was hard to tell where to order what and if you had to stand to get your food or not, etc. Pizza was ordered at the counter, pasta by the register. The pizza we had to get up to get but the pasta was brought to us. They had enough yummy sounding Italian dishes that we will definitely be back! Seems like it would be worth it for takeout too.

Wish the slices weren't so thin but overall the pizza is good, solid new york slice. They have a weekday special, buy 2 regular slices you get a free drink ($6 total). Staff is always very friendly.

The rats running around near the outside, curb dining shelter could be forgiven, because they are all over Manhattan. The ridiculously big fans blowing the unnecessary air conditioning hard throughout the small indoor dining space could be forgiven (bring a jacket, and a box to cover your food). The annoying music that is so loud you have to shout to be heard by someone 3 feet away can be forgiven (tune it out, and yell louder). What will not be forgiven is charging us full price for a pizza that was made hours before we arrived, re-heated for five minutes, and then served to us (a native NYer always knows when the pie has been re-heated). Call me a whiner, but when I go to a restaurant I expect to be served food cooked only ONCE. If I want leftovers I'll stay home, where there's no rats, indoor hurricanes, or obnoxious loud music created for 16 year-olds.

Delicious pizza on a rainy Saturday evening! Our large cheese pizza was ready for pick up within 15 minutes. The sauce, cheese and crust were perfectly cooked. They threw in 6 garlic knots with some sauce on the side. They were very doughy and not garlicky/oily enough for me. I'd highly recommend ordering pizza from here; some of the best takeout pizza I've had in the city

Pizza is worse under new management. This place used to be 5 stars. Hopefully they can sort it out. Used to come all the time but now won't try again for a few months to see if they can work out the kinks. So far emphasis seems to be facelift to the space and a bigger emphasis on takeout orders. The things that matter like the margarita, breaded chicken pieces on pizza, etc aren't as strong as before. Also the Buffalo wings are terrible now

What is great about NYC, almost every restaurant delivers to your door. Salvos only took twenty minutes to deliver our dinner to us. We ordered the Chicken Parmigina, Spicy Fra Diavolo Calamari, and a side Broccoli Rabe. The Calamari was very good along with the Broccoli Rabe. They also provided you with bread to submerge in their sauce which was well worth it. Next time I will actually visit this restaurant and actually dine their rather than hanging around on my butt waiting for the food to show up.

Some of the worst pizza I've had in NYC. The only redeeming parts were the pleasant employees and calzone. The pizza was really undercooked/raw

Decent pizza priced decently for the area. Nothing too special but will satisfy your pizza craving leaving you content. Slices are pretty big but they lost me with the soft/overly chewy crust.

2 weeks ago we had an amazing Bolognese slice, today we ordered 2 pies, one Bolognese pie and one hawai with tomato sauce for pick up and it was terrible. Hawai pizza had no tomato sauce, cardboard hard dough and cheap tasteless cheese, as for the Bolognese pizza it was nothing like we had two weeks ago, it was a regular cheese pizza with dollops of Bolognese on it, instead of a Bolognese base with cheese and fresh basil, it tasted sloppy and greasy. We called to share our disappointment, and all we got to hear is that there are new owners. Simply said, salvo pizza is gonne from our neighborhood pizza go to, there are enough way better oizza places nearby.

I always feel bad when I have to give less than 4 stars on a review. I know most people try to do a good job when serving customers and appreciate them trying. But when something comes up short, I have to be fair and honest. Usually order pizza for delivery but ordered 2 heroes on the way home from work with a delivery time of 7:15. 1 star for being on time. 1 star for getting the order right. 1 star for trying. 1 star lost because the food was not hot or even luke warm. Noticed the delivery guy had 3 bags hanging off his arm when he handed me my order. My guess, the heroes waited while other orders were being prepared and just didn't stay warm. The other lost star, a hero that is parmigiana is supposed to have mozzarella cheese. Both heroes ordered were parmigiana but lacked any noticeable amount of cheese. Seemed more like reminiants than loaded. For Salvo's, we will stick with the pizza. Seems to be their specialty. Probably gain a star back for that.

Just ordered delivery for the first time and was extremely impressed. Firstly, their prices are super competitive for the area. Got dinner for 2 delivered for under $25- pretty unheard of in the UES. Got the Margherita pizza and a chicken parm sandwich. Loved the pizza- tasted very fresh and the sauce in particular was spectacular. Chicken parm was also good, but would probably explore another menu item before getting it again. Not sure if it's an in house guy or not, but the delivery guy was super friendly. Fast too. Can't wait to try more things here !

Very good food and reasonable prices. The portions are also huge. We started with mozzarella sticks which were great. Even though they were delivered, they were still crispy on the outside. I got the eggplant Parmesan and it was a huge portion and thickly cut. The flavor of the sauce was also great and there was a perfect amount of cheese. I asked for vodka sauce instead of tomato sauce on the pasta which was really good. My husband got the chicken parm hero which was big and had great flavor. He also got the fettuccini bolognese and really enjoyed it. I would definitely get delivery from here again.

I've been going to Salvos since I moved into the neighborhood in 2017. Awesome spot, hard working people and always smiling. In their peak times (before covid ) , they really used to get the orders out. Now while it's died off a bit , same courteous service and pretty fast. The food itself is awesome , true New York style Pies ....and don't get me started on the fettuccini. These times are hard on everyone and glad to know Salvos is still on the corner serving up great food.

Salvo's has new family ownership and they have made some upgrades to the food and ambiance. Pizza is better than ever and the kitchen serves some great classic Italian. Prices are reasonable and service is excellent. Also has a nice wine list. Highly recommend this spot to dine in or take out.

Busy little spot, popular for takeout and delivery, but we dined in. Wine and sangria is served in mini mason jars-a little too hipster for me. The pies have a wonderful crust but I wasn't too big on the toppings. We got a 12" pie, half margherita and half meat lover and an order of the calamari diavolo. Didn't feel like the calamari had a lot of flavor outside of the heat. Unfortunately had better New York style pizza on the west coast.

Don't be deceived by the good reviews. This place is not worthy of your business. After getting recommendations from several friends, we tried Salvos for a birthday party delivery order. They sent us hard, burnt, and stale pies. It was, quite frankly, embarrassing to serve. Our pizza looked nothing like the photos in some of the reviews and nothing like pizza should look or taste. When we called to let them know, and described the pies, they told us that is exactly how their pizza is supposed to be. I insisted that something was definitely wrong, they first told me that if I ever ordered again, just to ask for the pizza "less done". Since I knew I would never be ordering from them again, I asked if they could do anything else for me, and they told me I could have 1 new pie (my original order was 6) and that I would have to come pick it up. Come on now. There are way too many pizza places in NYC to put up with awful pizza and awful customer service.

You will love this real NY Italian restaurant. The pizza and pasta are just like mom's. Great sauce. Pedi I and others on tap too. My favorites are the soups. Better than mom's. For us this was worth the trip from Oregon. Good prices. Nice atmosphere. Very very good.
