Locally owned since 2007, this downtown standby bakes hand-tossed pies and scoops house-made gelato. Praised by local outlets and noted by the visitors bureau for live music and upstairs blacklight mini-golf, it’s pure Rocket City personality.

Great spot to stop in with the family. Really great service and food is cooked to order. Friendly staff and a great little play area upstairs for the kids. Very good food and pizza.

Incredible pizza place! The menu had something for each of us. Great place for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike to go out together! We enjoyed playing a round of mini golf while we waited for our food! Then we played again after we ate too! The decor is phenomenal. All of the metal tables and chairs outside are spray painted in fun colors and patterns. The front doors and windows are covered in local flyers to support other local businesses and activities. Inside the restaurant you're greeted with giant menus on the wall behind the register. The whole place has an industrial vibe to it. Every table has either vintage posters or pop culture incase in resin on top. The entire mini golf area is one giant mural of aliens and all of the paint glows under the blacklight. There are also local artists who come and sit down at the bar to draw!

We went in on a Tuesday around 5:30pm and it was pretty empty. Our pizzas came out in about 15 minutes. The pizza was good, but nothing that we are dying to come back and get anytime soon. I ordered the Key West and my husband ordered the Deluxe. For us, the veggies were not cooked long enough and still raw/crunchy. My Key West pizza was supposed to have chicken on it and I couldn’t find any. Maybe there was just so little of it that I couldn’t tell it was there. We did like the crust and the sauce. The crust wasn’t too thick or thin, it was right in between. It also had a nice crunch to it, but was still chewy. They have a small Putt-Putt setup upstairs which costs $3/person. This may be good for the little ones, but it’s a small area and tight, not making it great for adults imo. The atmosphere is kinda cool. They have lights with different colored bulbs in them, several were burned out though. They have several wrought iron outdoor tables and chairs for days with great weather. The indoor table tops have various different characters on them and some table have church pre type benches which weren’t very comfortable to me, so we moved to the table with chairs seating instead which was much better for my back. They have extremely large cans of tomatoes sitting each table which was kinda odd to us. I get it, it’s a pizza place and they were cans of tomatoes, but it still seemed to be an odd choice for decor. The employees were all pleasant. We have heard their gelato is fantastic, but we ate too much pizza and left no room for dessert. Maybe next time if we decide to go back.

I wasn't created to fit In

The food was really good. Nice little spot. Not very friendly.

We met today with our daughter for lunch. I was impressed with the architectural design. They have Gelato case with so many varieties but we were so full after eating that we didn’t have room to try it. We ordered pita and hummus as appetizer. The hummus was so smooth and delicious. We forgot to ask if the pita bread was homemade because it tasted like homemade. We decided to order 4, 1 of them no meat, 10” specialty pizzas. The pizzas came out in less then 15 minutes and they were perfect!!! The dough is not to thick but not too thin, crunchy in the outside and the flavors of each one of them delicious. Don’t expect to be served tho. You place the order in the counter and they’ll give you the plates, cutlery and drink glasses and you seat wherever you want and serve yourself. It was great and we will be going back.

The pizza was wonderful. My 3 year old grandson loved the cheese pizza. Prices are not too bad. We loved the little indoor glow in the dark golf course upstairs.

Google
This place has themed tables each different, it also has paintings, napkins that you can draw on, amazing lighting, a second floor, it has a 9-hole mini golf ⛳️,the servers are really nice, it also has music 🎵, you can also take your food to go, and last but not least it has amazing … food 😋.I highly recommend it 😄

Google
Fun experience, with friendly faces and delicious foods. Half&half knots with cheese are amazing for a quick snack. All of the gelato flavors are fantastic. Pizza is phenomenal.

Yelp
Pizza was good and at a fair price. The Guido was much better than the Pesto, but both were missing the salty meaty vibe of a pepperoni! Crust was nice and crispy. The beer selection is great. The gelato is good, just remember extra napkins!

Yelp
This is our second trip to Sam & Greg's and it didn't disappoint. Pizza. Beer. Gelato. Winner winner Buffalo Chicken dinner. Very good food and the gelato is a nice finish. Don't pass this place by if you're in the area.

Yelp
Been a while since I've updated my review. We recently stopped by for some lunch. The pizza was great, as usual. The crust was well cooked and had a nice crisp to it on the edges. The toppings are always great. This is one of my favorite pizza spots. I'd highly recommend stopping in either location if you've never tried them.

Yelp
I ordered a Salad and a pizza for delivery to the hotel. The delivery guy was cool. He said he was going home to make steak and lobster for his wife. So, great guy, great heart. Two stars for him. Now for the food review. Let's do positives first. - the Diet Coke was cold - hmmm. Yea, the diet Coke was cold. Now for the negatives - too many to list. Let's just say on a sausage and mushroom pizza, it was more of a cheese pizza with an accidental cross contamination morsel of sausage and maybe a partial mini mushroom finding its way onto a slice. Not worth the wait. Definitely not worth the coin.

Yelp
Food: Was perfect as always best little pizza spot in town. Service: Always pleasant greetings and Service. Ambiance: 100% worth the trip while waiting on food take the kids or grown ups to the glow in the dark mini golf always a treat. Really good selection of adult beverages and craft brews.

Yelp
Covid is over people! It's time to bring service back! It would be nice to be waited on just like a real restaurant.

Yelp
We were exploring the downtown and the general store recommended their gelato. I liked how it was homemade. The man behind the counter was very nice and he said the strawberry sorbet was his favorite. He gave me a sample and it was amazing. The strawberry flavor was strong and it was very refreshing on a hot summer day. If we came back to town, I would eat here and try more gelato flavors and the pizza.

Yelp
Ate here while in town for a trip! My pizza was super delicious. They were very accommodating and friendly as well. Had some birthday cake gelato at the end too that was good. Is definitely very kid friendly and apparently there is mini golf inside too!!
google avatar

Cassie S.

Yelp
I love this place it would be very good d for a date night. I recommend this place for any event. Waiters were very nice. Always love the company. Love the golf but can get hot. 5 stars

Yelp
First off, the place inside is pretty cool! It's definitely family-friendly. The guys who took our order were polite, friendly, and cutting up (being silly), making everyone feel welcome. We had the meat lover pizza, which we thought it was pretty darn good. We will definitely be back to try other options off the menu. Being our first time we didn't know what to expect, you simply walk in order your food and drinks at the bar. They hand you a number, and you pick your own table. When your food is ready they will take it to your table. Your drinks will be called out loud and set at the bar (if you're getting alcoholic beverages). Upstairs, they offer mini putput golf and more seating area, with a fountain drink machine also upstairs for your convenience. They also serve Gelato, which is made fresh daily, we were so stuffed we didn't get to try it, but good lord willing and the creek don't rise we will be back to try it out.

Yelp
We were lucky as we arrived just before a large crowd of people. The food was delicious. I think it's a bit bougie to charge people to play fake miniature golf but what do I know?

Caleb L.

Yelp
We went here for my sister-in-law's birthday. There were 10 adults and some children. This was on a Monday night around 6:30. and there were just a few people inside, no one upstairs or outside. When we walked in, this guy behind the register with a beard and a cowboy hat started to lecture us, saying that we needed to call ahead if we had a large party. This went on for about 10 minutes, and we just listened after he was finished; we asked if we needed to go somewhere else or if they could take us tonight since this was not posted anywhere that we saw, and the place was pretty empty. He said it would be ok for tonight, so we proceeded to order. The food was great, and the rest of the staff was excellent and friendly. We had a 6"-layer cake from a bakery that we forgot to bring in; at this point, we had been there long enough to get our food. I walked by the register on my way to the car and the guy behind the register was still ranting about us not calling to one of his coworkers. After we finished eating, my daughter wanted some gelato, so I took her up to the counter and let her pick one out; of course, the guy in the cowboy hat was serving us. My daughter, who is 3, repeatedly said hi to him as he was getting her gelato, and he ignored her entirely and just acted angry. I was holding her at the time, and it was apparent that he had heard her. The food was excellent, as always, but it was a bizarre experience; it felt like we were intruding. we only ordered four pizzas and two garlic knots. and it never got busy while we were there.

Yelp
Friendly service and good food. Can't ask for more. Cool table tops! The golf is small but fun for a kid for $3.

Derrick M.

Yelp
While wandering the historic downtown of Huntsville, we felt that some local pizza would fit the day perfectly. A very nice passer-by recommended Sam and Greg's Pizzeria. It definitely hit the spot. The decor was excellent. It is located across the street from the courthouse. Seating inside and out front. An ice cream bar as you walk in. The service was friendly and prompt. The pizza was awesome! Fresh and tasty ingredients. The crust was perfect. Definitely a must stop for lunch!

Valerie M.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on a Monday night to grab pizza and watch the game. The inside is funky and cool. Definitely a cool vibe. They have a moderate gelato selection, and it was delicious. The beer selection is large and eclectic. Pizza selection was great and it had "different" types of pizza than what you usually see. We got the pesto pizza. I added salt and it was delicious. Trust me, you want to sprinkle salt on it. Upstairs has a put put golf which is a nice touch-- something for the kids to do. They also had many TVs to watch various sports. Only call out is parking is spotty. There is a parking lot about two blocks up the street that is a quick walk away.

Yelp
Truly the best pizza in Huntsville. The garden vegetable pizza is my favorite, but they are all good. Everything came out really fast even though they were very busy.
google avatar

Anthony F.

Yelp
Their pizza is ok. Plenty of toppings crust was ok. Service was ok since you order at the counter. From the other reviews I think we had that guy. Interior was to be expected from an old building on the square. They decorated it with nice style fitting of a pizza place.

Pam T.

Yelp
Downtown location has been my family's favorite pizza for years. Consistently great pizza, service and ambiance! Enjoy the gelato too!
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
The pizza I got was not the pizza I ordered (I ordered gluten free and received regular). But it was very delicious.

Lena A.

Yelp
Food is always great and the service is fast. I normally order online and pick up since it's right by work, but the vibe in the restaurant is pretty cool. Definitely worth the try, you'll be back for more!

Alexandra D.

Yelp
It's OK. We've had dine in and take out and both are just OK. There is better pizza in Huntsville but the ambience for dine-in is fun and you can take a walk around town when you're done. The pizza crust is a little thick and gummy. The garlic knots are kinda like a blank canvas...not much to them but ok of doused in sauce. Their texture was way better than the pizza crust even though they must be the same dough?
google avatar

Jonn K.

Yelp
It has been six years since my last review, and S&G needs a new update (and an added star). Since my last critical review, I must have mellowed a bit... S&G has moved across the courthouse since my last review to a much larger location. It still has cool local vibes. You can get beer, pizza, and yummy Gelato. Today my vegetarian pizza was delicious and so pretty; it was colorful from white onions, black olives, orange tomatoes, beige artichoke, green jalapeños, and more green from spinach and green pepper. A colorful flowery table cloth added to the blossoming pallet of colors... I'm loving it.

Yelp
We had a nice time. Chill in the air, streets mildly bustling... perfect pizza night. Walking in, place is moderately noisy but I'm city so I love it. Makes it feel inclusive & that's saying something for Huntsville. Place was packed but we only waited about 2 minutes prior to being called to order. You have four choices of pie sizes in inches-6-8-10-14, if there are more... correct me please. Choice of toppings is excellent, they have plenty of meat items for carnivores (typical of a pizza joint), also seafood topping offerings! Crawfish included & next time I'm trying that. For vegetarians, also many offerings such as green & black olives, corn, onions etc... and more so you and I aren't left out. Unfortunately, there are no vegan offerings here. They have about 7 brews on tap for beer lovers but not a full bar so no cocktails or shots. They do offer water and sodas & I love the root beer! unfortunately, if you sit upstairs and you want a refill of your beer, you must go downstairs to get it as the servers will not do it and they do not run tabs. They need an upstairs bar area. Customer service was exceptional as well. No one was rude or impatient. We ordered easily with no arguments over "special orders" There is an upstairs dining area as well. If you have a disability that inhibits your walking, then these stairs aren't for you as they are a long climb. We chose to sit upstairs because you have to seat yourself. Did I mention, it was a full house. I wish the upstairs dining area had seats near the windows. Gelato galore-they offer a delicious variety of gelato. There's a small play area for the youngsters upstairs. Our order- half and half pizza-14 inch. Very cheesy & flavorful. Crust is crispy like Jersey pizza. Dough is well cooked-not burnt or undercooked so there's an experienced pie chef here. Jalapeño garlic knots with cheese WOO man those things are good. Bread is soft & super flavorful with fresh mozz. Pros: no long wait time to order, hot fresh food, a place for the kids, polite staff Cons- long wait time for food to come to the table, dirty tables not being attended to, can't run a tab, no elevator, no vegan options Thanks to the cashiers Friday evening you guys made us feel very comfortable I'm definitely going back. Please try them out. This is a great weekend start.

Yelp
Always fun pizza always great their ice cream is good too. Kids love it and outdoor seating is so nice when weather cooperates.

Yelp
In town overnight stopped on our way home wanting to try the gelato and had a pizza as well. Loved the atmosphere and food was excellent! Can't wait to go back when we're in town.
google avatar

Yelp
Gluten free pizza and indoor mini golf for the kids. A perfect evening in a cool, quirky downtown place.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
This place was pretty outstanding. We came early-ish this evening (Friday) for dinner. We ordered spiked milkshakes and jalapeño knots to start. We each ordered a 10" pizza. I chose the cookies and cream milkshake and that was amazing! I highly recommend the boozy milkshakes. Definitely worth it.. the jalapeño knots were awesome! What a unique spin on garlic knots. I got a build your own pizza with pepperoni and peppercinis. My husband got the meat lovers. I was please with everything we ordered and would definitely come back. They appear to try and space the tables out and have an upstairs, but the earlier you come the better.

Karima L.

Yelp
I'm from Jackson, MS and here working in Huntsville on a detail! I went to the downtown location for lunch and my food wasn't right! The staff went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with my food! I appreciate good customer service nowadays!

Dan C.

Yelp
Sam & Greg's Pizza is consistently fantastic - the flavor and crunch of the crust is one of the best parts. The sauce is always savory and has a flavor that makes you look forward to the next bite. Toppings are always generous, but never too much to the point where they don't cook. We prefer our pizza slightly well done, with crunchy pepperoni, and Sam & Greg's never fails to disappoint!
google avatar

Yelp
When you order something other than pizza at a pizza place, you're gambling. I ordered the "Greek" salad. My salad literally could have been from Pizza Hut or dominos in my opinion. Croutons clearly not homemade, lettuce, what tasted like packaged salad dressing. It was very underwhelming. I do think they make decent pizzas, but a homemade Greek vinaigrette, and more interesting salad toppings are also easily done. I expect more from a $10 salad.

Madison Y.

Yelp
I do love the pizza. And offering a patio where poeple can have dogs is great. But all workers are focused inside. How is a person alone with their dog supposed to get attention at all? Just spent 20 minutes trying to make it obvious I wanted to place an order.
google avatar

Tom T.

Yelp
Food was really good my grandkids love pizza my daughter not so much and she gave it a thumbs up. Service was good. Ambiance is kind of down hipster feel. We went during daytime.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolute worst service ever. You are in a service industry. Serve. Issue: we ordered (or thought we did). An hour later no one had asked us if we were ready to order or asked if we wanted anything else to drink or acknowledged us in any way (this was probably worst part of it all). Once we asked for more to drink and when would our pizza would arrive (issue was identified) finally we learned the issue. The "server" let us know "it was our fault"; that we hadn't ordered. I repeated the conversation back to him word for word "(me)do I need to go to register to order?; (him) No, I just need the card to start the tab. I've got it" Once the issue was understood you would expect an apologetic or even understanding nature. We received neither. The constructive criticism I offer is this: you are in a service industry. Offer to serve your customers. The "server" walked past us no less than 20 times in an hour and never once asked "do you need anything? Are you ready to order. Food was ok but once we got it the evening had been ruined. When you go to Sam & Greg's my recommendation is to go in with the attitude you are in a "fast food restaurant" where you need to go to register to order, serve your own drinks (unless you are drinking bar drinks in which case you'll need to beg for them to acknowledge you so they can find out what they need to get you) and go sit at a table far away from traffic so there's no inherent expectation that when a "server" walks past you they might ask, "can I get you anything else?" and you won't be as disappointed as we were on our visit.

Yelp
It was a great place to eat. We had excellent service from Conner. We will definitely go back and hope to see him again.
google avatar

Jason D.

Yelp
This is a very welcoming place to get a pizza and beer. Stopped in on a quiet night and opted for a veggie pie and a local draft. Pizza was fantastic and the price-point was well worth the walk from my hotel. I will definitely return here on my next trip to Huntsville.
google avatar

Justin B.

Yelp
The daughter and I stopped for pizza and dessert. Unfortunately, the pizza was so good we were too full for dessert. We had the BBQ pizza (not the actual name). The sweet sauce and toppings complimented each other perfectly. Our pizza came out super fast, the staff was friendly, place was clean, price was definitely worth what we got, bathrooms were clean ... if we lived in Huntsville we would be regulars. There is a public parking lot down the street that had a few open spots and walked about 1 1/2 blocks to the restaurant. When we got back there were still open spots so I'm guessing parking isn't that bad, but that was just our experience. Enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
Sam & Greg's was the favorite pizza option for our kids for years. Then they lost their lease, had to move, had to renovate, & had to navigate Covid. The kids are home, & we wanted a non-turkey pre-Thanksgiving treat. Well, Sam & Greg's did the trick. Same excellent menu, plus a GF crust option, in a much nicer, airier space. Once again proving, you You can't go wrong with Sam & Greg's.
google avatar

Jaden B.

Yelp
Mom and I visited Sam & Greg's today once we got done with our afternoon walk and we're glad we came in! Mom got the polynesian pizza without olives and I got the southwestern pizza and we both agreed that our pizzas were absolutely delicious! I use to go to the Northside location of Sam & Greg's with my mom or with some friends of min, but I would agree that the Southside location is better due to the new location having more space/room than the Northside location. The food/drinks are delicious and the staff are really friendly. I will definitely be coming back to Sam & Greg's in the near future!

Sam D.

Yelp
I wish I had read the reviews before going. I had hoped for a fun experience...it was not. The staff clearly hates everyone. The guy taking orders was miserable and downright rude. It took almost an hour to get our order, and it was wrong. It was wrong because rude guy wasn't listening...because he was too busy being rude. When the incorrect order was brought to our table, I was told by another employee that it was my fault for misordering. When the correct food came out it was frozen pizza quality at best. We had a cheese pizza, margarita, and pepperoni and they were all bland and lifeless. We weren't given plates so we ate from napkins and pizza trays. We each also tried a gelato. Again I had to order from rude guy and, again he was completely dismissive and rude. We had: eggnog, birthday cake, mint Oreo, and Christmas tree. There is nothing to describe the cutely named gelato flavors so if you want to know what "Rudolph's nose" tastes like you have to ask the rude staff. The gelato was fine but again, nothing to blow me away. I had really wanted to love this place. Maybe the glowing reviews are for the Madison location. Save yourself some time and frustration and go elsewhere.

Yelp
Phenomenal service and food! 8.7/10 on my pizza scale. Chill environment. Would recommend anyone to try this place out!

Amanda M.

Yelp
Delicious gelato!! Staff was friendly with the exception of one dude who seemed to be having a not-so-great day. Nice outdoor seating.

Shawn B.

Yelp
Sam & Greg's was a local recommendation that did not disappoint. Excellent traditional pizza with excellent crust matched with solid toppings. Great variety of beverages for adults and kids alike. Cool ambience and friendly service. A must stop!

Yelp
Great spot on the Square in Huntsville. Fun vibe and great food. I had the 1/2 muffuletta. It's great, but you better be hungry! It's huge!
google avatar

Dina E.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by this local pizza spot offering a relaxed indoor space with wooden booths, small tables and an upstairs area with mini golf. Great outdoor seating on the main street, perfect for people watching while enjoying their selection of beer, wine and hard ciders with your pie. A gelato case displays tempting gelato for dessert, perfect for taking with you for a stroll around town after a delicious pie and a few beers with friends!

Kimberly H.

Yelp
One of the best pizzas I've had in Huntsville. The crust is amazing! You order in line, which is fine by me. Faster. The place is really cute. Anything downtown is a plus, because it's so beautiful. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Joe W.

Yelp
Pizza is like sex, when's its good its great and when it's bad it's still good. This was great pizza

James R.

Yelp
Ordered the cheesesteak sandwich said mozzarella cheese on it but was regular American? Menu says cheese fries but got cold limping fries instead?
google avatar

Jody T.

Yelp
I've been to Sam & Greg's multiple times over the years. They recently relocated across the downtown square and did a full remodel of their space. And speaking of space, they have Galaxy Golf upstairs. That's indoor putt-putt golf that's been painted in colors that light up under black light. Very fun. They have hand painted murals and other cool decor (including even more of the awesome lacquered table tops with pop culture items layered in). Definitely a cool vibe. The Sweet and Spicy BBQ pizza was awesome. Would highly recommend this place.

Don G.

Yelp
The food is really good. But if you order a sandwich and the other person you are with orders a pizza, then you will be finished eating your sandwich before the pizza arrives at your table. You can see a dozen pizza orders go to the window between each pizza in store. The ambiance is nice other than it does seem more like chuck e cheese with yelling kids running around. The staff was unwilling to ask them to behave upon our request. Multiple customers voiced displeasure with the same result. This has happened the last two times we ate there. We went there tonight and as soon as we walked in, we heard yelling kids running around upstairs so we left. It's really a sham.
