Chicago’s Best Thai Food | Eater Chicago

"Bangkok-style street food is the specialty at Same Same in Roscoe Village. Find fried chicken — which smells terrific thanks to the coriander root — the comes with a spicy honey sauce. There’s a nice selection of curries and noodles. This is drinking food, and the cocktails here are available to drink on a sidewalk patio. Order pickup and delivery online. There’s also weekend brunch with fusion selections like tiger cry and eggs." - Ashok Selvam

The Best Dishes the Eater Chicago Team Ate This Week - Eater Chicago

"Oh, Roscoe Village, where passersby will sneeze and trip on a stroller. Family-friendly fare rules this neighborhood, but what if it were possible to create a restaurant that could appeal to the kid who brought his basketball into the restaurant and the adult who just wanted a stiff cocktail? Same Same, which opened earlier this year, could be on to something with small menu of Thai street food and a fun bar scene including “Short Round,” a mezcal and bourbon drink that's a tribute to the character from the Indiana Jones movies. The khao soi neua is a dish for diners who like different textures. The wheat noodles are chewy at the bottom of the bowl and topped with crispy fried wonton-style noodles. The braised beef chunks are wonderfully pink in the middle and complemented by a hint of cardamom and cilantro. Doctor it up with Same Same’s house sriracha sauce, and save some room for the fried chicken. The chicken thighs take two hands to take down, so no dribbling the basketball while eating, junior." - Ashok Selvam

The drinks at this restaurant are absolutely fantastic, perfectly complementing the delicious food! Among my personal favorites are the mango sticky rice, with its sweet and creamy coconut sauce, and the pork belly fried rice (khao phat muu krob), which features perfectly crispy pork and aromatic jasmine rice. You truly can't go wrong with any of the dishes here; each one is crafted with care and bursts with authentic flavors. It's definitely worth giving this place a try, and I'm confident you won’t regret it! This restaurant has firmly secured its spot on my go-to list for Thai food in Chicago!

Google
Tried Same Same for takeout the first time and was blown away—had to come back for dine-in. The Kao Soi is an absolute standout: rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The pork belly rice is just as impressive—crispy, tender, and packed with flavor. Whether you’re grabbing takeout or sitting down for a meal, Same Same delivers.

Google
We loved their crispy fried chicken. The shallot topping was flavorful and the sticky rice was really soft. I also recommend their fried rice. About the curry, the crispy noodle was good but it was so little, the rest are soft noodle. So only order it if you really into curry.

Google
Visited Same Same recently and was really impressed. The food was packed with flavor and felt authentic—especially loved the curries and the pad thai. The staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations. The vibe was cozy but modern, perfect for a casual night out. Prices were reasonable for the quality. Definitely a spot I’d come back to for great Thai food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Google
Got delivery from here and sadly it was the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. The Khao Soi was super bland with no spice. The soft noodles were alright but the crunchy noodles were soggy. The Phat Kee Mao was not as bad as the Khao Soi but it was too savory. The only flavor I got was that umami but it was overdone. The veggies and noddles were just fine. Overall, just no complexity in the dishes and the flavor that was there wasn’t enjoyable.

Google
I ordered several items from Same Same because I’m an avid Thai food fan; pad thai, green curry, panang curry, papaya salad, fried rice, wontons, and more. It was about $150 in Thai food for delivery and boy do I regret it. Both curries felt like they were missing Palm sugar in them, they were flat and honestly inedible. The fried rice was doused in soy sauce last minute. The portions were extremely, extremely tiny for 18+/dish, and none tasted good. Overall, I do not recommend ordering from this place. This was by far the worst Thai food I’ve ever eaten.

Google
Solid Thai food - I enjoyed the basil chicken rice and the fried chicken., though the menu felt a bit limited and didn’t feature many unique Thai dishes. The restaurant has a funky interior and added a fun vibe to the dining experience.

Google
Food was pretty okay. We sat at the bar and the bartender was pretty cool and attentive. Gave me a new drink when the one I initially got was way too strong. We got the Thai fried chicken with fries. Fries were amazing, chicken was pretty okay. The pad se ew was also okay. Not the best, but this wasn’t a traditional Thai spot so I’m not surprised. I’m not sure if I would be back. The food was just okay.

Yelp
The food/drinks I got were very good. Service was excellent. The prices may be a tad bit high, but the quality of the food I ate made the price worth paying. I find a lot of Thai restaurants serve noodles with way too much oil and/or "gravy" on their noodles. They will also often over-cook the noodles. Same Same did not do that. Same Same may have been a tad bit heavy with the sauce/seasoning in their Pad Thai for my tastes, but I think that might just be my personal preference. Compared to other Thai places though, they did way better than most Thai restaurants in not using too much gravy, or paste, on the noodle, so I really appreciated that.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday for lunch. From the outside it is a small storefront, with an awning door for winter. Inside it is cute little restaurant with exposed brick and colorful decor. The menu was virtual and it was the lunch menu. Not sure if these COVID trends will end...The lunch menu was brief, one pager, with a few items and a whole page of cocktails. I order a basket of spicy french fries to split with my partner. I ordered the Green Curry with Tofu (marked spicy), my partner had a pork dish which I can't find on their online menu. We had water to drink. The fries came out after about 5 minutes and they were frozen crinkle cut fries with a spicy dry mix of spices. These were pretty good, with a chili aioli sauce on the side. Our entrees came after about 10 minutes. Both dishes look great and each served with a bowl of rice. My green curry was not great. Green curry should have a nice balance of flavors with a distinct Thai Basil, lemon grass and coconut milk flavor. The main flavor was pineapple and everything else seemed off. My partner ate his dish but said the sauce tasted like mostly tamarind and not much else. My hope is the chef was having a very bad day. Overall, food was not very good, service was OK, and the place has a cool vibe to it. I had high hopes and they didn't pan out.

Yelp
What a great spot for a late summer dinner! They have a back patio, front patio, and open up the front walls to even make the inside feel like you're still outside. Cocktails were good - I had an espresso martini. A tad sweet, so if that's a thing for you, just ask for a little less sweetness. Our server helped me decide between two dishes. I went with her recommendation, and my new favorite dish, Khao Soi Gai. It was the perfect level of spicy for me with noodles in this creamy coconut based curry liquid gold. I loved it! Easy to eat here if you're dairy free/lactose intolerant, vegetarian, etc. Bring some friends and get here soon!

Yelp
We ate so well here! Delightful little patio area hidden in back. Our food was awesome (I forgot to get pics of our entrees, but we got one noodle dish and one rice dish and loved both) and our server was super nice and helpful even though it was her first day on the job. So lovely! Will definitely return.

Yelp
Generally, fine, but nothing to write home about. I visited on a Saturday afternoon, and the restaurant offers a relaxed vibe, which is nice. Seats were comfortable inside, and they offer outdoor seating. Service was good and attentive as well. As for the food - I like everything but my entree. I ordered 2 shrimp spring rolls, the lunch phat see ew, and a Thai iced tea. The rolls were crunchy and had a large amount of shrimp in it, which was nice. The Thai iced tea is really good as well; it tastes how you'd think such would taste. The Phat See Ew was the most disappointing for me, as it didn't really have any flavor in it. If I do go back, I'll order something else.

Yelp
I wasn't impressed. I ordered the Phat Khee Mao, noodle basil dish. Pros: * Hip, cute place * Great vibe * Nice outdoor seating in front and back. * Dish was visually appealing. Cons: * Meal price had a $4 upcharge to add chicken. You would think there would be a choice of meat with the base pricing. * I ordered Hot and it came out as one of the most mild dishes I have ever had. * One of our party ordered a vodka gimlit and had to show the person a picture and description while at the bar. They ordered a SECOND one, and it came out as kind of like a gin martinini without any lime.... they even got the wrong alcohol. Wasn't in the same glass either (and wasn't in a martini glass). * The flavor was meh... super boring, a bit more on the soy sauce side... not enough sweet, basil, no chili, coul use more of all the flavors. * Chicken was spongy texture which I don't like. * Service was slow, took a long time to get a table for 4 (like 30+ minutes) but there were several 2 tops available. Overall the vibe and presentation was good and this place seems hip and cool. The food could use a lot more flavor and a lot more spice. I was expecting a much more authentic experience too from the decor and branding on the menus. I would say just go for drinks only, but I can't even say that as you never know what you will get. I would go with 2 stars, but I am not mean and I am sure they can do a little better on a different night or with different staff.

Yelp
Came here for lunch, it's a great little thai restaurant that's very cozy. The fries were super well seasoned and came with a really yummy sauce. We got the khao phat (which was my favorite), green curry, and phat kaphrao. All of which were very flavorful and not too spicy for my taste. Everything was incredibly reasonably priced, and definitely worth trying it out.

Yelp
Same Same is one of my favorite Thai Restaurants in the city! I think that their dinner is always so great but I recently came for lunch and ordered their chicken dish and got basically the smallest portion imaginable. It was basically like 3 small pieces of hainese chicken! Definitely felt like a bit of a rip off. Their flavors are definitely very strong but so delicious! Service is always good where they are not too intrusive but still stop by to check in on you. I've come here with my toddler before too and they have a nice kids menu!

Yelp
I expected more from this place with regard to the food. Very cool vibe inside. They have a front patio and a back patio. I preferred the patio because the music inside was super loud. Our server wasn't friendly at all. We ordered the sriracha flavored French fries which were essentially just crinkle cut fries with spicy seasoning dumped on top. For our entrees we had the Phat Thai - not traditional tasting and way too much sauce covering the noodles. We also had the Phat Kee Mao with chicken and that was pretty flavorless as well. Perhaps we ordered wrong? We most likely won't be back.

Yelp
First time at Same Same but won't be my last Great service and the Phat Kee Mao was delicious Loved their patio as well, ambiance was perfect

Yelp
I was visiting my sister & my home town of Chicago for the first time in four years. We went to Same Same for dinner on October 18th, 2024. My sister and I LOVE Thai food. It is my absolute favorite! We have both eaten a whole lot of It over the years. The staff was very nice and fairly attentive. We ordered two Panang Currys; one with tofu and one with chicken. We were so diappointed. The food tasted like fake Thai....The flavors were just not there. We saw no Asian faces in the kitchen, which may explain the problem. Neither of us would ever go back. I did read several reviews, but did not see the bad ones posted here, unfortunately! I'm sorry, Same Same, but you were a huge disappointment for both of us.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was good, but we chose to sit in the back patio for a little more relaxed outdoor seating experience (inside the music is a little too loud for me, at least at the time I went 8PM on a Sunday), I don't know if I will go back due to how many rats and mice we saw running around in the back patio and along the fence and under tables. At first I saw 1-2 mice getting some nibbles farther away from me, then I saw 3 congregating under the large table and then a big rat scurrying along the fence. Later one ran across the patio from behind me and they were squeaking and running around the entire time we were there. If I went again I think I would do takeout. The food was good I got the phat Thai and my friend got the fried chicken and both were good and our waitress was very nice and came around the perfect amount of times. The outside is very cute but I just could not get comfortable sitting there not knowing when the mice would run around next. We didn't doubt the cleanliness of the restaurant or the quality of the food but just felt a little uncomfortable eating there and were trying to finish our meals quickly to get out of there.

Yelp
Delicious and chill weekday lunch, great service. Shared the Hat Yai sandwich w sriracha buffalo sauce and Gaeng Hung Lay, both very flavorful and well-portioned for lunch. A pleasant kick but not spicy. Nice local (and a couple Thai) beer selection too.

Yelp
Grabbed some to-go from this neighborhood spot. My wife had the crispy pork belly and fried rice and I got the crispy fried chicken (boneless white meat) with sticky rice. Both were tasty and well prepared. Online ordering was a bit of a hassle but just went in placed my order had a cocktail and it was ready in no time. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
So sad to be writing this because I LOVED Same Same when it first opened. In fact it was always the first restaurant I recommended to people. However we ordered delivery a couple weeks ago and the food was not the same. Extremely salty and greasy to the point of having to throw it away. I emailed the restaurant twice to give them a chance to make it right and we never heard back. Not sure if there was a change in ownership, management, kitchen staff? Was hoping it was just an off nightbut the lack of response tells me it wasn't. I won't be eating here again. : (

Yelp
Our group arrived at 8:45pm on a Thursday and sat outside on the patio since we had a pup. It's always great when establishments are dog friendly! Since we arrived fairly late, we were told that the kitchen was closing in 20 minutes. We quickly put in our orders and were so excited when our food came out just 10 minutes later! Everything we ordered was delicious and authentic. We ordered beef panang curry, Khao Phat Muu Krob, and Phat kee mao. I only wish my panang curry came with more beef! Overall a great experience and would definitely go back!

Yelp
I've spent most of my business life in three foreign countries; Korea, China and Thailand. I loved the food from each of these countries, but Thai food held a special place in my heart. Back in those "heady" days I could eat Thai food so spicy, you could've stripped barnacles off of the Titanic with the dishes I ordered. Now, I still like my Thai food spicy, but not Bangkok spicy, just Chicago spicy. Up until now, I've had no problem finding my correct heat on my Scoville scale. That is, up until tonight. My wife and I tried Same Same Thai Food here in the Roscoe Village section of Chicago. The food here, along with the vibe and service is very good. I'd go as far to say the food here is excellent; that is for an ordinary "Joe" whose never gasped for air or almost passed out because their food was so spicy. Our: * Papaya Salad - was delicious but had no heat * The fried chicken - was excellent with a sweet sauce but again, was mild with no oomph. Mind you, I wasn't looking to cry my eyes out, but a mild sweat would've been nice * The Phat Kaphrao - A Thai classic, had chopped white meat chicken stir fried with red chili, long bean, onion, and a heaping handful of basil was exceptional but again, I would've loved a little tongue tingle-ling * Shrimp with Green Currie - also delicious but heat wise flat Same Same is this wildly popular restaurant, and for good reason........it's very good. All of you nice people out there who don't like spicy Thai food, Same Same is your place. Us folks who like some spice in our life, I afraid we need to take a pass. I guess you could sum up this review (simply put) : Heat or no Heat - That is the question?
google avatar

Yelp
Don't order takeout from here. This is the second time they neglected to add the protein to my entree even though it was ordered and paid for. What am I gonna go all the way back there to demand my $4 dollars back?? Of course not. What a hassle, so there's basically no recourse for their screwup.
google avatar

Yelp
I've eaten food from here twice: once during a daze halfway through the Sunday Scaries and another time on a busy Friday night; both times have not disappointed! If you're ordering on the delivery apps, they package the food up super thoughtfully. We got the khao soi gai and the khao phat muu krob (more on these in a second!) and we were so glad to see the broth separated from the noodles for the khao soi and a layer of foil separating the pork belly from the rice for the khao phat muu krob to help preserve all the textures. The in-person dining experience was also great! The restaurant itself is very intimate but the vibe was awesome--took me back to the streets of Southeast Asia almost instantly with the lighting, murals and how the kitchen just filled the restaurant with such rich aromas. I wouldn't recommend it for big groups, however. Shout out to the front of the house, Hannah--she ran the whole show and took excellent care of us! Highlight reel: #Khao Soi Gai Delicious. The broth is coconut milk-based so extremely rich and flavorful with the curry. The chicken chunks are plentiful and the fresh shallots and cilantro on top coupled with the crispy noodles and chili paste take the texture and the crunch to another level. #Khao Phat Muu Krob SO. GOOD. I'm a huge fan of pork belly and this dish is definitely a decadent treat. The whole dish overall is delectably umami-on-the-fatty side with the pork belly and the sunny side up egg but I loved the baby corn adding a good crunch and some structure to what could've been a pretty mushy dish. The flavors all work so well together and every bite was satisfying. #Phat Thai We got the combination type. I'm not a fan of a watery Phat Thai so I'm glad that the noodles were not or drowning in sauce. The vegetables were also super fresh and the noodles were cooked perfectly. #Hat Yao This fried chicken tasted home cooked. Loved the fried shallot garnish and the sweet chili oil dipping sauce. Breading was just right and reminded me of how my mom made fried chicken growing up! #Wok Peanuts I loved buying these from street vendors in Southeast Asia and they did such a phenomenal job recreating them. The portions were great too for the price. All in all, I'm super glad to have stumbled upon this place on Door Dash and can't wait to be back!

Yelp
We ordered takeout from here and it was very good. Our food came packaged well and was still warm. We ordered the Panang and Green curries and both were tasty and filling. The spice levels are actually spicy which was a welcome change. Can't wait to dine here in person!

Yelp
Loved our food! We came on a Monday night and it was bumping. I like the cool atmosphere. It was nice outside do the patio was open and even though we sat inside, the doors were open so there was a lot of fresh air. We started with cocktails. I had a tequila based drink called Bird Eye which was delicious and so refreshing. I loved the cumin infused tequila! I had the same same bowl with tofu which was super fresh and filling and came with the most delicious peanut sauce. My friend had the Phat Thai which was also great. We shared the panang curry with tofu. It was good but not great. I would like to try the green curry next time. Service was great!
google avatar

Dan J.

Yelp
Fun place, lively atmosphere, yummy food. I dropped in here to try out their food as it was my first time in Roscoe village. The small Thai restaurant was jam packed with tables and seemed to be doing well. The menu was variable with several curry and noodle options, as well as fried chicken combos which i will definitely be back to try. The prices were slightly higher than i expected for Thai restaurants but likely inflated for the vibes. I ordered the drunken noodle with tofu which came out very (almost a little too much umami) flavorful. Unfortunately it was missing the sweet/tart flavor that usually comes with the tomato chunks. The flat noodles were slightly overcooked as i tend to enjoy them more chewy. Ultimately i had my fill but wouldn't order their drunken noodle again. When i return I'll likely check out their curries and fried chicken!

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and I wanted to try a new place close to home. Food was so delicious, we ordered takeout here two days in a row. The Khao Phat Muu Krob was very tasty. The 2nd day, we tried the Pad Thai with Shrimp. Very nice portions and lots of tofu. Pork belly was delicious and not too fatty. Would definitely return and the plan is to dine-in soon. Highly recommended.

Chris L.

Yelp
We sat in the patio for the first time, and saw at least two rats running back & forth in daylight! We told the server & her response was "it's hard to control because we have a dumpster right behind the patio." There was no further acknowledgement, even after we told her we kept seeing rat activity! We ended up taking the leftover inside to be boxed because we felt ill at ease & we just wanted to leave immediately! It's too bad, we've been here several times & always enjoyed it, until today!
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
I've never had fried chicken at a Thai restaurant. You must try this chicken. The batter is really light and crispy. I got the combo, which is half white snd half dark. The breast is boneless and you get two thighs snd drumsticks. We also go the green curry. As good as any I've had. Pure comfort! I also tried the Same Old (old fashioned). It was also good. We sat outside. On the weekends the street is closed for more tables snd there were plenty on a Saturday night.
google avatar

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
Huge portions, and vivacious tastes, with a great assortment of textures! PhatThai- delicious! More than I could eat, will still have a full portion for lunch tomorrow. Chicken wings- crispy with Asian seasonings in the crunch coating. Paired perfectly with the dipping sauce and rice. My Thai cocktail- in an adorable (and large) glass coconut cup.

Yelp
I checked this place out on a whim and am so happy I did! Super cute place with tiki vibes and fantastic food! Highly recommend the Pad Thai and fried chicken combo, although everything we ordered was delicious. You really can't go wrong!

Yelp
Great place. Food and service are excellent. Its curries are really the star of the place. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Same Same is tough for me to review. Full disclosure. ..Thai isn't one of my favorite cuisines. It's probably just me, but I feel like it's either good or bad. ..no in between. Perhaps my palate isn't able to discern the subtleties. Same Same tastes like any other good Thai restaurant I've tried. Nice flavors and fresh ingredients. They are pricey as compared to other Thai restaurants. I wouldn't request, but if offered or suggested I'd readily try again. Overall an enjoyable meal.

Yelp
Wow! It was time for some great Thai and yesterday was the case! Election Tuesday and the anxiety were high so we wanted to get out for dinner. After googling outdoor patios for dinner since it was 60 degrees today, I found this gem in Roscoe Village. In the back, they have an orange tented area to sit (hence the photo looking a little orange) with about 8-10 tables. Our server Kris H was friendly and great as he gave suggestions to us since it was the first time we came here. Mo got the Khao Soi Gai whereas I tried their Hat Yai Combo with a side of their fries. Both of our dishes were amazing and tasty! She ordered a few Daybreak Sauv go to along with her dish and I went with the usual Singha. The only negative was some loudmouth who sat in our area who thought he was at Butch McGuire's as he was loud and showing off to the two women he was with. Apparently, he's a regular so if you run into him, move your table if you want a chill evening for dinner. Plenty of parking is available in the hood and I can't wait to come back and try their other dishes in the near future!

Yelp
Ordered - khao soi - phat thai - phat kaphrao - hat yai Likes - fried chicken thighs (hat yai) - I liked the tasted and texture. It was not battered. Also they let you pick if you want dark or white meat! - interesting ambiance which would be nice for a date Dislikes - service could have been better - they recommended food to share but didn't bring bowls for the Khao Soi. By the time we asked, the noodles were mush. The flavor was also lacking. - ground chicken dish (phat kaphrao) was flavorful but too salty and required more rice than they gave - phat thai tasted nothing like any pad thai that I've had. it was missing something

Yelp
This restaurant is a quaint joint within Roscoe Village with a short menu but delicious food! I ordered the phat kee mao, no meat, extra spicy and the food was flavorful, spicy and a good portion. The service was very friendly and our food came out quickly. If you're looking for a good Thai place in the Chicago neighborhoods, I definitely recommend checking out Same Same!
google avatar

Jamie P.

Yelp
SameSame is as fun in-person as it seems in the photos! My friend and I shared the Hat Yai Combo and Phat Thai -- they're safe options if you're visiting for the first time too. Both dishes were solid but not wildly unique or memorable. In my opinion, this is a place you go more for the vibes and drinks than the food.
google avatar

Marissa C.

Yelp
Delicious food and excellent customer service! Placed a takeout order online and went in to pick it up. Staff was friendly and fast. When we got back to our place we realized one of our items was missing. We called the restaurant and the owner Chris offered to drive to us and personally deliver the food! Going that extra mile for their customer was a really thoughtful touch, looking forward to eating there in person.

Yelp
First day since more restaurants opened up and they opened up the patio and people were eating. We ordered take out the individual making the drinks was also passing out orders. He had a mask and was very professional. The orders were all spaced out and pick up was fast and easy. Food Pad Thai I got this extra spicy with tofu and shrimp. I am glade I got extra spicy because it was the perfect amount of spicy! Viet wings These were delicious. Very flavorful and crispy. The pieces of chicken were big too Hat yai combo ( this is tenders and bone in chicken) Bone in & Tender: these were crispy and tasted like your usual fried chicken. They were filled with meat. This came with white rice and the rice was very dry and hard.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't left a review for Same Same yet! It is by far one of my favorite places in Roscoe Village & probably in the entire city. Same Same is an intimate Thai restaurant. It has 3 seating areas- indoor, front sidewalk seating and a back beer garden. I've never had to wait too long for a table. They have a great cocktail list- my favorite is the Monkey Business! I love the cute hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil money glasses it comes in. They change their menu around pretty regularly, but everything I've had has always been delicious!

Yelp
So, I went to Thailand several years ago and loved hearing "same same". I didn't order solely from the name of the restaurant, but it was a bonus! The food was delicious and prepared well. Incredible flavors.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Parking was free. Beers were a pricey. Service (Katie) was helpful and on it.

Yelp
What a great addition to the neighborhood! This is something Roscoe Village has been desperately needing, and it does not disappoint. Great cocktail options, and a nice variety of entree options as well. This isn't the kind of place that has pages and pages of menu items. No, what they have is a menu tailored to their fresh ingredients, with enough variety to satisfy everyone. Great first visit, and lookingg forward to seeing how they evolve.

Yelp
I'd go here for drinks and the chill atmosphere, but food did not pass the vibe. I've tried many pad kee mao dishes in the past, but this particular one was exceptionally salty. It was almost impossible to enjoy unless you took a sip of water with every bite. We even checked with the waitress if they went overboard with the salt, but unfortunately that's how they're normally served. In the end, we barely touched the pad kee mao and although they took it back, we still had to pay for it. Most of the stuff we ordered wasn't exactly rockin' that true Thai taste. It's "same same" but definitely "different"!

Yelp
Been here a couple times, it's a cute and casual vibe! Really nice outdoor patio. The Phat Kee Mao is the best thing we've had, definitely get the curries with added spice!

Yelp
Lame lame. The papaya salad was yummy, but no heat; I've never had such a not hot papaya salad. It was tasty though. Ribs were over cooked & under seasoned, but tasted okay. The fried rice is so disappointing; pork belly was improperly prepared.. fat not rendered.. meat too chewy.. rushed.. major Womp. & the fried chicken is seriously tragic. Not Thai flavored at all.. & not really flavored well anyway. Idk. Part of me wanted to ask if the chef would spare a minute to come out & taste for they self.. i just don't know how you could proudly serve that fried chicken. Anyway. My company enjoyed her cocktail.. but we agree, it's skippable. Fun vibes tho, if you're already full.

Yelp
Came here for the backyard patio and it did not disappoint! It was very spaced out and the string lights added a great ambiance. I have been to Thailand and love authentic Thai food. The food here tastes like it was inspired by very authentic dishes modified for a western palate. Which I actually enjoyed very much at Same Same. I was a big fan of the Hat Yai fried shallots. I was sad that we waited to long for the sticky rice that it had cooled down and stiffened. The chicken and dipping sauce were delicious. Both the khao phat muu krob and the khao soi gai were delicious. The muu krob was a little bland but the pieces of pork belly were super tender! Adding the spicy paste helped a lot. The khao soi gai was a curry noodle dish. The noodles unfortunately were congealed making it hard to toss - but they were still delicious. We wanted to try the mango sticky rice but unfortunately they did not have any! I guess we'll have to come back to try it next time!

Yelp
Tasty, creative menu We had a Caviar discount code and hankering for Thai which led us to stumble upon Same Same. The menu was refreshingly different, while I like the standard choices, it was nice to see things we hadn't seen before (maybe we've seen them, but the menu is nicely curated so as not to overwhelm with choices). It took husband a while to decide which dish to choose because he wanted may of them. I went with the panang curry, I wanted to try the Phat Thai sans egg, but it wasn't an option and I couldn't customize beyond the preset options. I opted for shimp and extra spicy. I love that they have an option for extra spicy and Thai spicy; I like my spice, but extra is plenty for me. Husband is a Thai spicy type of person and frequently disappointed with what most places call spicy. The curry was really good, but my only complaint was it was too heavy on the baby corn and light on the shrimp. I'm defrosting some shrimp to steam and eat with my leftovers. My husband ordered the Gaeng Hung Lay, which is not a spicy dish, but very good according to him. I'm putting Same Same on our rotation and if we were in the neighborhood would pop in for dinner.

Yelp
This is a smaller space and is a cute spot to meet up with friends or for a date as the lighting is extremely flattering and moody. The menu is smaller and the food is good (not very spicy so if you like the heat, you may need to ask them to amp it up). Give it a try!

Yelp
Literally the best restaurent in the city. Went to Thailand and was still craving SameSames pork belly and green curry!! Staff is super friendly, attentive, and hardworking. I've never seen it not busy. Good vibes, cute patio and inside seating. Clean! I could go on...
