17 FiDi Lunch Spots Under $20

"There’s just two items on the menu at this quick-service food cart: a falafel sandwich, priced at $6, and a falafel platter for two dollars more. The generously portioned platter is the way to go if you’re hungry, served with pita, pickled peppers, hummus, baba ganoush, a dolma, and a large handful of crisp falafel. Don’t expect frills: This is just comforting, well-done street food that can make for two small meals in a pinch. Cash only." - Eater Staff

The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week, December 2021 - Eater NY

"Sam’s Falafel Stand offers an excellent falafel platter that includes hummus, tahini, baba ganoush, pita, pickled peppers, and a dolma. The platter is enough for two small meals at a great price point. Cash only." - Eater Staff

My favorite lunch spot in the area. Sam’s falafel sandwich enjoyed on a sunny bench is often exactly what I need. Their service is always super friendly. The falafel is very juicy (I often find falafel too dry but theirs are always perfect), and I love how they stuff them so I always have the perfect balance of bread / veggies / falafel / sauce with every bite until the last!! Hope they will remain where they are for the foreseeable future. Thanks team for making my lunch break every single time!

I've never written a review for a food truck...but Sam's Falafel Stand is worth it! This is a must visit food truck, that is a staple in Zuccotti Park in the midst of the financial district. I've visited Sam's truck many times, and I have never been disappointed. The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is delicious, and you get very generous portions! WIN, WIN, WIN. Enjoy!

UPDATE 7/23/2024: Sandwich is $8 and platter $10 Falafel tastes sour? I don’t know if it’s gone bad or maybe another ingredient but it was never this tangy. $7 sandwich with 100% fresh ingredients!!! Best bang for buck lunch in FiDi hands down

Sam was very nice and the falafel sandwich was so delicious and filling and yet so cheap ($8) - best lunch, and perfect for vegetarians (and probably vegans)

Went here just cause of their only vegetarian falafel truck! But, too bad that their wraps were pretty bland. If you’re expecting some level of spice like me, them you may not end up liking it. But, it’s situated in a nice location where you can takeout and eat like a picnic. You might still like it if you like no spice food!

First visited Sam's Falafel stand 14 years ago, last time we visited the city. It was our favorite thing we tried on that trip, so we had to come back this time, and it did not disappoint! Sam is still serving crispy falafel with so much flavor and friendly service. The falafel has a perfect texture, not too dry, and he packs the sandwich full and tops it with roasted eggplant and onions, fresh lettuce and tomato, and layers in the tahini and hot sauce. Even my kids loved it. The most satisfying lunch you'll find for under $10!

Where is the 6-star button!? This is one of the best falafels that I've ever had. Sam makes the sandwiches to perfection - the falafels balls are made to order, the pita is filled with silky tahini, and the vegetables are perfectly crunchy. At $8 for a sandwich and $1 for a drink, it beats anything. If you want falafel, that's the one.
