"Formerly a food truck, Samurai Sombrero expanded with a spot inside of the food hall American Eat Co. They specialize in sushi rolls with a Mexican twist, adding textures and bolder flavors. The vegan Death Free Foodie roll has a pop of fried jalapeno, while the Abigail roll has spicy and cucumber, topped with torched salmon." - Jackie Tran

Some of the best fresh sushi around. I dance in my seat every time. Friendly with more choices on the menu than most. Located inside American Eat Co, you can get sushi and others can have something else. So grateful they had gluten free soy sauce!

I started following Samarai Sombrero Sushi on Instagram originally. At the time they were making their sushi via food truck on 22nd/Pantano area. It was my 1st encounter. Gabby provided such friendly service, I felt I had known her for years! We typically order 4-5 rolls between my husband and myself, but when we opened our takeout they were huge, delicious and succulent! I tend to be a purist when it comes to cream cheese in my sushi and Gabby was quick to offer making them to my taste and preference. What a novel idea! Now they have a brick and mortar at American Eat which is a more convenient location for us. Before, our go to rolls are usually spicy tuna, negihama etc. but we thoroughly enjoy my now go to Ceviche roll. The fusion of Mexican influences contribute to the flavors Samarai Sombrero Sushi is well known for. They are truly on a mission to introduce themselves as true contenders of sushi fusion. The Mexican, La Frida, The Avocado to the simple Spicy Cali all done to perfection, attractively plated as well as providing slightly larger than most average sushi rolls! You definitely get your money’s worth here. Gabby and Jesus are the most charismatic and hospitable restauranteurs you’ll ever meet, and so deserving of your patronage. I HIGHLY recommend you try Samarai Sombrero Sushi they really aim to please and keep you coming time and time again! I really love these two and all their efforts to earn my business.

I am writing this review due to my experience with Gabriela & her husband. I went in craving a roll, but because I’m pregnant I didn’t know what safe to eat. Gabriella was exceptionally kind & patient, to be honest I have not had such a great overall experience as I did that day. I have ate here previously, however never have I had the service I had that day and the roll she recommended me was delicious, I even order one to go for my husband. In addition, she asked me if I would like a different sauce that she made with jalapeños and soy, which was the perfect pair with my roll. recommend this place 10/10

Google
We had seaweed salad and 3 rolls. Plenty of food for 3. The lobster popcorn roll was amazing! We also got a tempura Cali roll (yum) and a Cali with eel on top. The seaweed salad had cucumber straws and the dressing was perfect. I would def come here again and again. So fresh and really friendly service. We woofed the food down so was only able to get this one photo of the lobster popcorn roll.

Yelp
This place is inside American Eat Co, towards the far right of the entrance. We were helped really quickly by staff that was friendly. They even allowed someone in a group to make a substitution in one of the rolls, which we appreciated The rolls offered aren't super unique, they mostly consist of the usual suspects you find in most places, but the 4 our group had were all tasty and served at a perfect temp The ones that were fried were not greasy at all but they were super crunchy, and we found the total cost reasonable. I wish the ingredients offered a greater variety because although it looks like they have a lot of rolls to choose from, honestly they all tasted super similar and we had a tough time choosing which menu item to get because we had a hard time seeing the difference between many of the rolls. That being said, if you want tasty, fresh sushi rolls at a reasonable price, this is a great spot.

Yelp
First time visiting them in this location. They have a counter located inside American Eat Co. The food is still as good, and the service is awesome. I ordered the heart attack for me, but my 7-year old son ate half of it, he loved them,

Yelp
Finally made it to American Eats Co, and had some of my favorite sushi. I love their sushi. We ordered the Goyza, Fried Avocado roll, Popcorn Lobster roll, and Deep Fried Cali roll, I was so satisfied. I need to make it here more often.

Yelp
Sooooooo good!!! I keep coming here for the deep fried California rolls, but I just tried the shrimp tempura, and it's a new favorite!!! My partner got the gyoza, and he said it was "incredibly flavorful, juicy, but perfectly cooked".

Yelp
Fun environment. It is a food hall and not a food truck. We had 2 rolls: spicy tuna and Mexican roll...both were great. The food hall bar had good taps and very reasonably priced cocktails. My wife loved the Paloma cocktail. Definitely would go back and bring a friend.

Yelp
First timer and new fan!! it's inside the American eatery. I like that the menu is not 20 pages long is easy to read and it has a description of every single item on there we ordered the heart attack roll the Vegas roll and the chile relleno which surprised us because it's almost like a small sushi. It was so cute and delicious. It's a jalapeño stuffed with crab deep fried amazing doesn't describe it. It was beyond. The staff was really nice and friendly fast service also and it's always a fun time to eat at the American eatery. We definitely will be returning.

Yelp
First time trying out samurai Sombrero! I got the samurai roll and it was so good! I can't wait to go back and try out more of their menu. Highly recommend! I love the vibe of American eat Co and all the food options it has to offer.

Yelp
The food is good and the service friendly and fasts the portions are larrrrggeee so be warned. Also ask if an item is deep fried if you don't like that. They like frying things even eel

Veronica M.

Yelp
Tried Samurai Sombrero for the first time after seeing it in the American Eats Company a few times. There's always a line, and I can understand why! The gyoza and samurai roll were delicious! My only complaint was the wait time; one of the employees actually came to my table to ask me what my order was again about 20 minutes into waiting, so i suspect my order got lost or mixed up with someone else's. It was a bit frustrating, but after they confirmed my order again the food came out pretty quickly. Otherwise the staff was friendly and there was lots of seating. I'd definitely come back and try another roll sometime!

Yelp
We tried this place yesterday. My husband and I put the name in maps and it sent us to the old location on 22nd (we didn't know it was an old location). We were determined to find it though! I ended up looking on Instagram for the current address and we made it. The parking was insane, after driving around I decided I would just get it to go... (did I mention we were determined?) the place is fun.. the eat co, so several different foods (restaurants) located under one roof. By the time I started ordering, my husband came in, he was lucky enough to finally find a parking spot! The woman at the counter was so nice and was very apologetic about our plight. We ordered. She gave us complimentary drinks and edamame. We must have looked frazzled lol.. the food was great. Different. Not like any sushi I've ever had. I will definitely be trying them again, there were so many things we wanted to try but we couldn't even finish what we ordered! This is a fun busy kinda loud place, great for families and lots of food choices! We'll be back!

Yelp
The food court this place is in is very fun and has a great variety of food. I had the vegan mango roll at Samurai Sombrero and it was a delicious alternative to the real thing

Lauren M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! The death free foodie roll was one of the best rolls I've ever had. The staff was very kind and working hard to accommodate all of the customers. Gotta go try!

Yelp
Fellow eastsiders you know it's totally worth the drive! We miss the food truck but you don't have to miss out on the fresh, delicious, un-duplicatable sushi! Plus Gabby and Chuy are such wonderful people you have to go see them We went last night to celebrate our anniversary - got our usual favorites Volcano (heavenly!), Vegas and Dragon rolls and tried the delightfully fresh Ceviche roll with beautiful yellowtail on top. You just have to go!!!

Rosa J.

Yelp
The girl in the register suggested a great roll after carefully paying attention to what i was looking for even though they were externally busy needless to say I get the every single time and now order about 4 times a month LOVE THIS SUSHI

Yelp
I can't stop eating here. I've had 80% of the menu and enjoyed it all. So many contrasting flavors and textures. And Gabi is so friendly. It's hard to go wrong here.

Daniel B.

Yelp
The owner is the nicest human in the world. Creativity is shown through her food. Everything is delicious.
