Dave was GREAT! I loved my experience at the Chocolate store. He was nice enough to make a special apple that was not on the shelf, my wife’s favorite! All the staff are super friendly and the products are just as amazing! You will not be disappointed at this store.

For those of you chocolate lovers out there, this is the store for you! Right across the street near Fisherman's wharf, (AND next to the Largest Candy Department Store.... I know, I sense a pattern here....) , they have every kind of chocolate: dark chocolate, coconut, milk chocolate, white chocolate, etc.... There's also different flavoured ice creams to choose from. Beautiful store! Would love to visit this place again!

Purchased a caramel covered apple (not sliced). I cut into it about two hours later at my hotel. The apple was rotten. Mushy on the inside and actually smelled fermented. Peeled off the caramel not have happened.

Fantastic chocolate shop. Lots of chocolate for every preference. The tastiest thing I've tried is chocolate covered strawberries and macadamia nuts + caramel + chocolate = delight. They also have very tasty ice cream. It was a funny situation. We bought ice cream and accidentally dropped it on the floor due to our negligence, at that moment they replaced us with a new and tasty one. Thank you! The staff there is great.

Bought jonnie walker chocolate,fireball whisky, 1800 ,Jose cuervo tequila for gifts and I open one bag and got hooked. Trying to order now but could get no one on the phone, 3 hrs difference it should be 1pm there. They busy.

My family is in town from Puerto Vallarta. They loved the store and how welcoming the environment is. We had a great time and the lighting inside is great! We enjoyed all the variety of chocolate and candies.

During my visit to San Fransisco I came to this store twice! The chocolates and treats are so good. They have a huge selection of San Fran’s locally made treats ready to go. The dark chocolate dipped orange peels were absolutely my favorite! The local taffy was also such a gem find.

My favorite thing is the truffles. They have a beautiful selection of candy and the staff is professional and courteous. I visit this store every time I get to San Francisco.if they had a website, I would absolutely order from them often.

The gourmet mini donuts on Pier 39 are transformed here by dipping them in chocolate. I tried birthday cake, butterscotch, chocolate mint, and coffee. Each were delicious. The cashier was a like flighty. I was in line and asked for 4 donuts. They are in the glass case next to here. But she wanted to help the guy behind me who just had some candy to buy. In the end, she ended up finishing with me first, but I was baffled. Isn't this 2023? Just because and old, white guy has to wait 2 minutes for me to get my donuts, your boss won't get mad.

The service is pretty good, and I used to love their chocolate truffles. However, it seems like they no longer rotate them out, or they keep old ones in their case to sell. I went in and bought some truffles, and you wouldn't believe my disappointment and disgust when I bit into one and discovered it was covered in mold from the inside. Each truffle is almost $5, so this was really upsetting. Absolutely sickening.

Great shop if you love sweets! It's in the heart of fishermen's wharf so you can't miss it. It has a lot to offer even dog treats! Ice cream, chocolates, candies, you name it. A great place to pick up some gifts for friends and family too!

They have a pretty large selection of chocolate and candy. It's a bit pricy for me but it all looks so good. I really wanted to try the ice cream but opted for chocolate instead. I got a chocolate covered chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was soft which was kind of unexpected.

I used to love this place just a few months ago. But now I don't think I'll ever go back. I need a full refund because everything was old and stale tasting. When I was ordering a candy apple, I saw a fly land on the apple next to the one I ordered. The apples are just out for any bug to land on, and there's nothing protecting them. The apples also looked old, and so did all of the chocolate. I asked the lady if everything was made fresh daily, and she lied to me by saying yes. The marshmallows were not puffy or soft. Pictures show otherwise. The was ok I guess if you like to be lied to about the products. The ambiance was dry. There was no one in the store. The workers were all talking to each other when I walked in.

I went into this store to buy my sister some fudge and english toffee. There were no customers in the store when I walked in. I walked through the store and headed to the chocolates in the case. All three of the employees were standing and talking did even acknowledge me when I entered or when I got to the case. I moved down to fudge and still no employee asked if I needed help. I stood at the fudge case for about a minute and still no acknowledgement. So I turned to walk out and finally the guy at the counter asked if I needed help. I thought for a second why should I spend my money here if no one wants to help me until I'm leaving. I said no to the help and I walked out. I just want to Pier 39 to get some fudge. It will be awhile before I come back to this store.

Service was very good. However, the sweetener in the sugar-free chocolate made me sick enough to lose a day of work. What kind of poison are they using?

I ordered white and milk chocolate covered Strawberries. $5 a piece. Let's just say the ratio of chocolate to strawberry was terrible. The strawberries were dipped in 1/4" thick chocolate. Plus the chocolate they used to cover the strawberries was quite terrible as well. Maybe get the other treats in there. But do not get the chocolate covered strawberries.

Tasted like your average grocery-store-tier chocolate. The expected bitterness of 'dark' chocolate didn't come through at all. Tasted like you average Blue Bunny, Dryers Choco ice cream. Below Ben & Jerries-tier. Store had a huge selection of prepackaged and fresh chocolate treats. Good amount of ice cream selection, but they couldn't even nail a dark chocolate scoop. Bad look when you're called the SF chocolate store and ~$7 for the smallest scoop. It's ice cream. It won't be terrible. But you can hit the B&Js and Dryers stores around Pier 39 for same or better quality. Hopefully some of their other chocolate desserts are better. Store was beautiful but really I'm here just to talk about the homemade ice cream. It was absolutely stunning and a must try for anyone in San Fran. I had the strawberry cheesecake and whoa, what flavor in such a small cone.

I liked this spot because of the variety! They also have ice cream here and when I ordered a single scoop, the gentleman gave me way more than I asked for!

Friendly and the chocolate dipped bacon is delicious tasty. I bought here several times and I definitely recommend this place.

This place's chocolate's are to die for. I recommend the cashew turtles. The candy apples with chocolate or nuts are great too.

The San Francisco Chocolate Store is located between both Fisherman's Wharf & Pier 39. Being that this is a high traffic area for tourists, can someone please tell me why the candy being sold here looks terribly old?? A few of the displays needed some dusting and the chocolate display case is a lot emptier than my previous visits. I'm it sure if it's due to the decline in sales but the fudge|chocolate options on a Saturday was lacking. The customer service needs help in more ways than one. The young gentleman on the sales floor couldn't even manage a simple "hello" when we entered, instead, he had a sour face and was in the middle of dumping back a bag of Jelly Belly candies that someone clearly had a change of heart for. The highlight of SF's CS is the homemade ice cream available. There are a number of flavors offers on a daily basis so there is something for everyone. All in all, With the cost for the sweets being sold here , I just expect better quality.

Location on the heart of fisherman wharf, across the street is Boudin bread place. If you walk in there, you definitely smell a strong stench of chocolate. Parking is impossible to find unless you park like 3 blocks away. People there are nice and very attentive. I ordered 1 marshmallows with almond caramel apple and 8 of the plain caramel apples. I asked the lady to cut one of them, but when I walked back to the car, she didn't cut any of them.

I think to believe they changed their carmel, got me a carmel apple... I would not be coming back, and the apple was not crisp.

A very large selection of chocolate, this was probably the first large-scale chocolate store my husband and I have ever visited. Of course, over the years, we've seen some copycats but we will always remember this one, also because it was visited on the first trip together that we took to my hometown city (we were friends, at that time, only talking about the possibility). Located in the historic Fisherman's Wharf, it's easy to see why this store would appeal to people of all ages, who fancy chocolate and candy (also available, ice cream, fudge, taffy, chocolate dipped strawberries, caramel apples, chocolate by Ghirardelli, etc.). I remember the numerous barrels- there were a bunch of them. There were also chocolate bars. I don't recall what we bought. It is set up well, though, so you don't feel closed in- there is space to move. It is open everyday, for your convenience.

I come here for the candy apples, though it's quite the commute to the city and to find parking. There's no Rocky Mountain Chocolate store nearby so this place is as close as I can get. I would give this place 4 stars but during COVID their hours were off. I called before heading to the store and with an hour to space before closing, someone was locking up already. I told them that I called and said they were open for another hour but they refused to open the door, even with one more customer inside. Why close early? Better yet, why tell a customer on the phone a couple hours prior that you're going to be open and refuse them service? I do come back here with my occasional candy apple craving because, well, there's no one else close to go...

Love coming here for the chocolate covered apples. My favorite is the rocky road with white chocolate drizzle. I also take my share of taffy for the sweet tooth craving. My favorite flavor is cinnamon and then cherry, mango, pineapple, and orange. I also love the chocolate covered cherries, they are delicious and it's hard to have o my one. So, I HAD to get 1 rocky road apple, verity of flavors of taffy and chocolate covered cherries. This should hold me over for a while, until next time.

Huge store! Open later than the chocolate store on Pier 39. I love candy apples and they has some, but not a huge variety without nuts. So many goodies in this store to chose from.

If you love dessert, chocolate, ice cream.., then you need to stop by here for a little treat! Picked up some chocolate, warm hot chocolate and rocky road of cream. It was great!

This is a pretty big store with all sorts of chocolates to choose from. It's just across the street from boudin. The prices are not to bad for where their location is. I got coffee ice cream, chocolate covered strawberries, and a caramel apple.. The strawberries were delicious and the ice cream omg is delicious! Ouuuuuh, I'm coming back.

Hazelnut truffle was covered in dark chocolate and had a very slight hazelnut flavor to it. Would be better if the hazelnut flavor was more pronounced. The tuxedo PB cookie was delicious! Typical PB cookie coated in white and milk chocolate. I got a 1/4 lb block of white and milk chocolate. It was ok and withstood car temperatures to not melt. It tasted like your typical hershey's chocolate, nothing too special.

Now this is a place with a lot of candy! I thought it would be just chocolate, but they had taffy, jellybeans etc. But what I came for was none of the above...I came for the candy apple! I've been craving an apple with caramel and nuts. I got the one with almonds. I should have got peanuts because the almonds I could hardly taste. I don't know if it was because it had too much of a thick layer of caramel, or that peanuts just go better on those apple to me.

What a beautiful chocolate shop. They really put some time and effort into this little gem. I would have given it 5 stars if my chocolate covered jalapeño wasn't stale. What a shame! The chocolate covered bacon was divine, though. Pretty good prices, especially since it's in the heart of tourist trapism!

A pretty cool candy store. They sell more than just chocolate. Because they are located in a tourist area in the Fisherman Wharf, prices are higher than other candy stores. Also their chocolate are different or should I say specialty items. You won't find the common chocolate that you get at your local grocery store. Decor wise is pretty facinating. It has an interesting chandelier in the store. A bit awkward. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely have to check this place if you are in the hood.

**** Review 119 **** So that old saying "as happy as a kid in a candy store" is an understatement! So much to chose from, so much chocolate! Ironic thing was that out of all the things here, I buy a double scoop waffle cone of... pistachio ice cream. Great thing is that it was amazing! If you're looking for a sugar high, then stop here.

I came here about 2-3 weeks ago. The chocolates here are very overpriced. I bought a white chocolate turtle (one piece) for almost 5 dollars. Don't make the mistake of buying Ghiradelli squares here, you can get them for half the price in the Ghiradelli. Also make sure to look at your receipt and charges carefully when purchasing here. The cashier who helped us (he worked in the very end near the store entrance) was very bad and misleading. He charged my dad twice for his chocolates ($38 instead of $19) and was kind of frustrated when we asked him to go through the trouble to refund it. He said he did it and gave my dad the receipt. However the charge was never refunded to my dad's credit card. And when my dad disputed with Amex, this store actually submitted the original receipt (the double charge mistake) as evidence to counter the dispute. My dad spent like an hour looking for the adjusted receipt (because this was a while ago and we thought the dispute was resolved). Very horrible customer service experience.

If it wasn't for this place being at Fisherman's Wharf I doubt this place would be even half as busy as it is. It didn't taste anything like Red Velvet and the Chocolate on top was like candle wax, in both texture and flavor. The place is packed full of all kinds of Candy, Chocolate, Ice Cream, Taffy and other sweet goodies, a real treat to the eyes. Worth checking out I guess, just not for me.

I stopped here while on vacation in San Francisco. Being a sucker for chocolate, I had to stop in and check it out. My hubby and I loaded up on sweets. From peanut clusters dipped in dark chocolate, toffee, and graham crackers loaded with peanut butter and dipped in milk chocolate and fudge everything was delicious. The shop has homemade ice cream that was similar to gelato. Lots and lots of sweet treats. I was surprised that our treats cost less than $20. I would definitely come back next time I was in town.

The best in the city as far as I'm concerned. I travel 50 miles south to pay a visit because it's that good . I have my favorites that I stick to which is the hazelnut milk an dark chocolate bark and the pecan macadamia white , milk chocolate and dark chocolate turtles are the bomb . The caramel for the turtles is so rich and mouth watering . Gotta grab chocolate dipped peanut butter cookies , chocolate dipped wafers , chocolate dipped twinkies and last but not least their fresh house made caramel apples such as the apple pie apple is SCREAMING w/ Flavor ... Not to mention their custom chocolates are house made . They have an assorted collection of many other sugar goodies for all ages and all taste buds . There's an adult chocolate section for those special moments . If you love taffy and jelly beans of all flavors they have that to .... Ummmm did I mentioned they have homemade ice cream and gelato that leaves me speechless ... Check them out next time your down by the pier in SF . The staff are all extremely nice an courteous !!! I am not sure why this place has such low ratings. It was quite honestly one of my high points today. It is literally an overwhelming amount of chocolate. Everything you could possibly imagine they have within the four walls of the store. All different kinds of chocolate including a ton of chocolate covered things. And my personal favorite milk chocolate covered strawberries. They also have chocolate covered jalapeños wish I had never heard of or seen before. But I'm sure they are someone's cup of tea. I would definitely come back to this place. It is Ghirardeli chocolate.

NONONO overpriced and charged 9 dollars for 2 pieces: one turtle and one toffee. Prices listed are by quarter pound so they charge 27.80 per pound for chocolates! Nuts were stale and unfresh as well. Would much rather have gotten treats from somewhere else. There are way more candy shops around the pier!

Really glad I stopped and tried these chocolates. they have a large variety and some really interesting combinations. For example the bacon chocolate or the jalepino chocolate. I ended up getting the dark chocolate and almonds , really good I wish I got more. I'll be back! For my purchase here I got a free bag of 'Trish's Hollywood mini donuts ' that's located right next door. Those are really good too.

A bit overwhelmed by the noise and crowds along the Fisherman's Wharf area, and still looking for no-sugar-added chocolate since Ghirardelli did not offer any, we stepped into this brightly colored "Chocolate Store" to see what they might have. Hunting about, I managed to find a good display waaaaaay in the back from one vendor with a small selection of different chocolate bars, all with no sugar added. #winning!

So much yumminess!! The moment you walk through the doors, you are suddenly overwhelmed by the sweet smell of all things candy. The icecream is heavenly. Pistachio is my favorite.

Over priced sugar nothing special. I was disappointed with the ice cream select and gift ideas. Typical candy store but the location is good if you are in a mood for sweet on the wharf. The workers were not helpful seemed very busy and too distracted to help.

Cute store in the middle craziness. Near Fisherman's Wharf, it's in a well visited area. They sell so many different types of treats it will be hard to choose. If you don't feel like walking to Ghirardelli Square, you can find many of the assortments sold there. They have two full cases of other desserts and pastries. If that's not up your alley, they have homemade ice cream with about a dozen flavors. Even with all of those options there are still other candies like taffy for you to choose. They are very friendly and helpful in this store. Plus it's in a convenient location! Thanks for the treats!

Tons of chocolate. They also have ice cream here and specialty apples like caramel and chocolate dipped. They also have souvenirs. Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly.

This is a very nice place, if you like chocolate. They have it all. Conveniently located in the Fisherman's Wharf. Their ice cream flavors are amazing too.

For a place that calls itself a chocolate store they sure have a lot of non-chocolate candies. I guess that's a good thing for the sliver of the population that doesn't like chocolate. If you're reading and you're in that number, their selection is about 3/4 chocolate and 1/4 everything else. Everything else includes things like Jelly Belly jelly beans, caramel popcorn, taffy, sour candy, and jawlipops (large jawbreakers lollipops). You can probably find something you like. Now onto what everyone else is here for...the chocolate! Like the first chocolate store I visited in San Francisco, this one is a chocoholic's dream. This store was easier to maneuver than the first one we visited in The Embarcadero. All their offerings were laid out on an oval pathway. The commercially-produced candy (like Ghirardelli's) was on the walls and the in-store chocolates were on display in glass cases. A few of their chocolates tied in to other local tourist attractions like Alcatraz, something I didn't see at the first store. Near the front of the store an employee scooped ice cream and behind the cash register a fridge was stocked with frozen bananas. They were the "there's money in the banana stand" chocolate-dipped kind. They even had something for the calorie stalkers: chocolate lip balms offering cocoa flavor and none of the fat. I wanted to buy a tub of milk chocolate malt balls but all they had left on display were the dark chocolate variety. Fortunately, they had more in stock. I only got 1/4 pound which was a problem once I tasted them and I realized how good they were. We were already back over the bridge. Welp. I didn't expect much from the San Francisco Candy Store given its location on the tourist strip but tasty chocolate (and non-chocolate) options can be found here.

A friend from London was visiting & after a delightful Afternoon Tea, we were walking along Embarcadero when angels started singing, bright shining lights began shining & the doors to San Francisco Chocolate Store opened What awaited us was a smorgasbord of delightful sweet treats! Offering shelves of SF shtuff - mugs, plates, cable cars, etc... & huge bins of candies, taffies, jelly beans & whatnot, I quickly made my way over to the "real deal" = the chocolate! Bought 2 San Fran cups as gifts for buddies - each filled w/ Ghirardelli chocolates.....didn't notice until we got all the way back home that the cups were painted w/ lead-based paint & were therefore useless as actual drinking mugs = BOO! But at least they could enjoy the chocolate. Also got a couple of cable cars filled w/ chocolate - even had a *real* working bell! And since the cheesy gift getting had been taken care of, it was time for MEEEEEEE & this is where the cases of individual chocolates come into play Opted for my faves: Macadamia Milk Choc Turtles.....lots of nuts, caramel & the chocolate was creamy & smooth. Wished I had picked up about 53 more of these It was too cold & windy of a day for ice cream but if we're back that way, would def indulge I'm a fan!

Tons of delicious-looking sweets in an old-timey atmosphere, and again, they list allergens on the description tags for all the ice cream which is what we are after, so win...

The assorted saltwater taffy we bought majority of the flavors that was in the bag, were all the nasty tasting flavors! As if they just put all the flavors that don't sell! I wouldn't buy them again or just pick my own flavors next time!

I walk in, and I SWEAR I hear angels singing in unison...."HAA-llelujah, HAA-llelujah!"..."Hello and welcome, you have arrived in chocolate heaven!" they say. Turtles, fudge, peanut brittle, toffee bars, white chocolate wheels...even frozen yogurt! I surrender every time. It's just too much deliciousness for me to resist. Sorry elliptical machine, I'll make it up to you later. I think I've tried just about everything. My favorite are the cashew turtles and the English toffee. As for the frozen yogurt, pistachio, rocky road and coconut are my faves. But the white fudge bars are good, too. I can't choose! Oh wait, I think I should clarify that I didn't buy all this stuff on one trip - I just come here alot! I truly "heart" this place. Five stars! Now I've gone and made myself hungry....

I give full stars to any place that covers potato chips, honeycomb, Rice Crispie Treats, marshmallows, Oreos and sugar cookies in milk chocolate. YUM.

Ghirardelli. They're schmucks. I love them but they're schmucks. Why? They keep the best flavors of their chocolate bars locked up in San Francisco. We strolled into the chocolate store after wandering around nearby and decided to see what they had to offer. Let me start by saying I hate milk chocolate, it's a migraine trigger for me. But I figured a chocolate store must have other chocolates and they did! A wall full of Ghirardelli goodness. Cinnamon, white chocolate, almond-flavored, etc. I was in heaven just staring at all of the flavors I had never seen before. This store also offers homemade ice cream and edible undies. Somehow all of these items go together.
