Yelp
TLDR:
Not only does this location of San Francisco's Hometown Creamery infrequently have a long wait, but their flavors are rich, creamy, inventive, timely and I can truly taste that they're freshly made. Oh, and their waffle cones are damn tasty!! (Not at all stale!)
Grab a cone, bowl, or flight(!) then pull up a chair around the corner (Proxy) or a park bench out the door and to your right (in Patricia's Green, watch for sneaky, ice cream loving doggos xD).

My first experience with SFHC was at their location near GGP (Irving & 9th), late-2018, after a dinner nearby. I was hooked by a limited edition mashup of salty, crunchy, chocolatey, peanutty deliciousness. I didn't live all that close to SFHC from 2018-2022, but would stop in when in the Sunset, always sampling the limited editions, but more than half the time opting for classics. FYI: their mint chocolate chip is the best MCC I've ever had; I don't usually like mint chocolate chip, but my sister does, resulting in many samplings to ensure she wasn't being poisoned ;), and SFHC's version tastes so bright -- can truly taste the real, fresh ingredients.
Racking my brain right now, I cannot recall the name of that first flavor I tried, but I can recall my last visit:
Split scoop horchata and chocolate in a waffle cone. The dark, rich chocolate perfectly balanced the lighter cinnamon+rice+almond. So yum! I don't usually get a waffle cone, but BF ordered his and it looked SO good, I had to join. In a past life, I worked one short summer in an ice cream shop, made a lot of waffle cones... this was the best waffle cone I've ever had! (I loved the cone so much, I got a waffle cone our next visit to S&S -- imagine my horror when that cone was stale with blah flavor).
There are a few seats inside, but it's very bare bones. Surprise, you're in a literal shipping container. I appreciate SFHC focuses on the ice cream, and not being instagram/tickytocky photogenic.
Why stand in an hour long line for overly sugary ice cream when you have this gem of a hometown creamery literally one block away?
