My favorite bar in Austin. The music drew me in on my first day in Austin. The service was great!! Brian is a good person. He was very knowledgeable with the area. I stopped in again on my last night in town. I want to come back to Austin again and have a drink and listen to some good music here each day I’m in town!

GRAM LINCOLN EVERYBODY! Holy smokes, this guy killed it. Turn up on a Tuesday at San Jac Saloon, man! This place is awesome! I had no idea this guy was going to be here tonight - mind blown! Amazing talent! Wonderful vibes. This man was accompanied by another who was just as talented! I was taken away. If you're ever on 6th in Austin, on a Tuesday night - random I know but worth it! - go and see Gram L. Perform. You will not be sorry! Grab a drink, grab some food and just enjoy the musical bliss.

We hit a few bars offering live music and San Jac was my favorite. Sorry I don’t remember the name of the band even though I spoke with one of the members at the bar as he cashed them out. 🙄 to me. The venue was very fun and the staff was awesome. I want to come back next time I’m in town.

Super chill bar with great service. Very cozy spot so feels like a private concert with the featured live band. We saw Tex-Hombres tonight and they were amazing. They take requests as well and they can play anything! They interact with the crowd and are humorous as well. Great time!

This is one of the best bars on 6th Street. Great, live, country music. Huge selection of good whiskey, scotch, and bourbon. The bartenders are awesome and the whole place is very clean!

Great atmosphere! The Carr Sisters are a must see. This much fun on a Thursday afternoon should be illegal! Happy hour was awesome. Bartender friendly and handled the crowds with ease.

$9 draft beers?????? This is one seriously expensive and bougie "saloon" Draft beers in San Francisco and New York City cost less than $9.

Dirty 6th is not our vibe, but a few businesses still bring us here. San Jac is one of them as it has a great bartender, strong pours, and usually good CW music. Be aware that we have been one and done due to the band playing. However, the Carr sisters are now playing on Saturday afternoons and they always keep us there for a few sets. They are CW with a rock twist think Johnny Cash followed by Bruce Springsteen. San Jac has a long bar but there is seating by the dance floor, in the back area, and on a 2nd level. Drinks are relatively inexpensive for Dirty and as mentioned earlier you get a healthy pour. They have a decent local craft beer selection and some top-shelf bourbon, tequila, and.... If you need to get your Dirty on then do stop by San Jac.

Great live music both nights we were there. Especially enjoyed Bron Burbank...what a voice. The bartender was generous and attentive. Just a great simple traditional no frills bar with good booze, great music, chill vibe.

Can you leave negative stars? Stopped by for a pint. Got.. garbage beer selection, a tweaking bartender, so many idiotic soccer opinions referred to as facts. Claims of being pro footballer. Talk about 12 year old girls If dive bars are way busier than what you're looking for, if you're in a mood for more of a math lab experience this is the place for you! Grab some penicillin. Easy going corner bar with music & good drinks. The bartenders were friendly and the 2 musicians were good. They played some sublime and Bob Seger. Pretty eclectic. My bf bought a hat which he loves. Stop in!

Dublin Johnny is an awesome bartender and host. Took care of my girl and I on my birthday. Highly recommend San Jac. Great ambiance and live music.

With so many options in the area, l would highly recommend choosing a different bar than San Jac. I usually don't post negative reviews, but this place truly earned it. The staff is SO rude and unprofessional, specifically the female bartender. I witnessed her being disrespectful to other patrons by scoffing at simple requests. I was also cut off from ordering drinks despite not being intoxicated at all. I understand and respect the importance of responsible serving practices, but this felt completely uncalled for. Earlier in the night we had witnessed a very intoxicated individual break a pint glass on the dance floor, yet the bartender still continued to over serve them. I assume because the bar was almost empty, and it was later in the evening that they came up with any ridiculous excuse to get us out the door so they could get a head start on closing. As a business owner, I would reevaluate the behavior of the staff and focus on hiring more professional and courteous individuals.

Feels like a saloon the minute you enter the old fashion western saloon doors. Authentic country rock music, friendly awesome service. Great drink choices, well priced. We got one ginger beer and one hein zero for $8. Great bar - we came back twice during our stay in Austin!

Great cover band playing on a Thursday night if you like classic country music. George strait, Merle haggard, Waylon Jennings, even played Eddie rabbit and the singer was awesome. Beers are 9 bucks which is kinda high, but no cover charge. Fun place.

When you're out and about in the ATX/Austin Texas scene. Swing by this amazing hidden gem!! Say HI to Brian or Matt behind the bar!! Absolutely the best personalities and they give this bar the notoriety hands down! Enjoy a cold beverage of your choice and you can even buy your favorite bartender a drink on their day off!! Guys! If you are looking for a place that actually gives you a glass cup and serves KNOB CREEK where you don't have to settle for makers mark. THIS IS THE SPOT. The smell needs some work. (Aka throw up) but guys it's totally makes up by the attendant bar tender, good whisky options and over all vibe. Also the lighting is on point, okayyy! If you are walking up and down 6th street and looking for that low key/ but loud spot that has good drinks, look no further.

Came in on a Saturday afternoon and had such a great time, we came back Sunday evening. We watched live music by the talented Carr sisters and our bartender was Dublin Johnny! That man made sure everyone was taken care of despite it being packed in there all while keeping the bar top neat. We had such a great time and can't wait to visit again!

We stopped in Austin for a night on our way back to Kansas from a trip to the Galveston area, after our original trip to FL was halted by Hurricane Helene. We were pleasantly surprised when we stopped in San Jac Saloon, the atmosphere was fun and we ended up laughing our tails off with Dublin Johnny. We wished we would have just stayed there all evening! Great place!

Had a great time up until they cut off my wife because "she had been there all night". My wife and I are both active duty. Collectively we have served over 34 years. We are both on call 24/7 and never get to "let loose". After the band finished, the bar tender was annoyed that I requested a song, and told me "I won't be doing this all night!" when I requested it. My wife and I had the best time up until this point. Just after the bar tender played "our song" as requested, she decided my wife was "too drunk" to serve anymore. This has never happened to us! My wife was not drunk or even close to it, she did absolutely nothing wrong tonight. It seemed as though the bartender was in a shitty mood and just wanted to be done for the night...hours before closing time. Disappointed we spent our 1 night in Austin and our hard ended money here. Do better San Jac!

Early evening on 6th in Austin. Not many bars open yet. We walked in San Jac hearing kinda country music coming from the door. Two guys playing on the stage. I couldn't see much inside either. Got beer and ready to hear good music. Two guys on stage they were not prepared. Sadly. Later manager or bartender guy came asking how's beer. I said beer is good but not music He told me oh real music will be later. We couldn't wait till later.

Bartenders were rude and inattentive. When we tried to talk to them about the issue they were argumentative. Service was sub par.

Dublin Johnny absolutely made my experience 5stars. He brought energy and was so personal with each customer. Very rare individual that actually serves with love of the job and people. 10/10 go wherever this Irish man is. He will make your experience great

I hate leaving anything but great reviews but I'm hoping the owner or manager of the joint read this.. As soon as you walk in you are hit with an overwhelming stench of Vomit. The entire room is pungent and smells of puke. Not garbage, not poop, but VOMIT. After 5 mins of standing at the bar about to order and drink I couldn't take it and left because of the smell.

Nice bar in the style of an old Texas saloon. The doors to get in were quite fun. Long bar, decent drinks, and good live music. Popped in around 5pm and the place was very quiet. The bar tender was very friendly. Definitely worth checking out.

San Jac Saloon If you want to experience a true country western Texas bar then come here. It's gritty with lots of rustic wood all around and when I was there a country singer entertained those drinking inside. I tossed a few bucks in his bucket to keep the music flowing in Austin. The bartender is no thrills but will serve you the finest beer or drink. But keep it simple is the way here. No foo foo concoctions here. He is very serious and protective of keeping his paying guest happy. Besides bar seating there are tables and stairs leading up to probably once a brothel. A big sign saying "Come & Take It" makes a statement for the ambiance of this bar. It's definitely a great place to escape the heat and relax a bit from the craziness on 6th Street.

One of the more " grown up " bars on 6th St. Friendly bar staff, cold beer and live music. A nice clean place to grab a drink or two.

Hands down, my favorite bar in Austin! We went 2 nights in a row. My only regret is that I didn't take more pictures of this cool bar. I was too busy drinking and conversating with an amazing bartender, Bryan. He really made tourists feel comfortable. Great, cheap drinks. 5.00 bourbon and Jack Daniels mixed drinks. Great live music. We saw this talented sister duo both nights. The bar was only a couple of blocks from our hotel, so we started our "crawl" here. Not sure if they served food. This was a bar that felt local to me. Beautiful two story building, right at the beginning of famous 6th street. I loved it! Next time I'm in Austin, we will definitely be returning here for drinks, music, and good times.

This review is solely for the bartender who was working on Halloween weekend. My friends rented the top floor of the bar for their wedding party, and the area is perfectly sized to accommodate about 80 people. Unfortunately, the bartender was the absolute worst. I've worked in the industry for years, and for a bartender to work a private party and does not know how to make an old fashion is horrible. If you are going to be a bartender and work a private party, you should have the experience and expertise to make cocktails and have a good attitude. The bartender was the complete opposite. He was very offensive, rude, mean, and couldn't comprehend how to make any cocktail. If you can't take a paying customer's order without attitude then you're definitely in the wrong work industry. This guy was so rude and even had the audacity to yell at us who were solely there to celebrate our friends prenuptials. This guy was unprofessional and disgusting with his attitude and the words that came out of his mouth. He even called me a "b!t@h" that was crossing the line to say that to a paying customer. Not only was I offended but he did this to multiple people!! Because we all started getting upset at him he lied and told his manager we were being racist . Wtf?! No, this establishment is the absolute worst!!! Do not waste your time or money here!! Go elsewhere as there are many other wayyyyy better bars to go to where the bartenders are way kinder than here! Next!!!

Dublin Johnny upstairs rocked the fuckin place tonight. We came from Cali and this guy made our trip A-FUCKING AMAZING. Do yourself a favor and come see this guy and tip him well. Better than the comics next door by far. They should come take lessons on how to do comedy. This guys is fuckin amazing!!!!.

Chill vibe, great live music, quick service. No food available but the drinks were decent. The best part was the music for sure.

If you love country music, you'll love San Jac saloon! Not the biggest fan of dirty 6th, but San Jac is one of the only reasons I'll come here. The band this past weekend was by far the best they had yet. Super interactive with the crowd, the place was packed. Drinks are cheap compared to other bars in Austin. It's definitely a dive bar but a great one. They take song requests which we love!! You'll find both younger and older crowd here. Good mix.

I am a NATIVE so 6th street is not a place I would visit but I am a DIEHARD SAM/DEAN FAN.... so yes I had to make the 3.5 hour drive from KATY TEXAS to this bar. I also stopped off at the brewery too just to pay my respects before my big move. The country music was amazing, staff was excellent, bathroom was extremely clean, so I plan on coming back when I visit my family.

This bar is tucked right in the heart of an area I wouldn't want to be at on a Saturday night, but I read all the good reviews and saw that they had live music so we decided to check it out. You walk through saloon doors to enter, and the door man checking ID was an absolute hoot! The vibe inside is complete opposite of the craziness going on 6th street, a more mature crowd, and they keep the music at a volume that allows you to still have a conversation. The bartenders here are nice, and they even have Blanton's if you want to be a big spender, but I wouldn't waste my money on having it in a plastic cup. I understand the drunkenness of the area affords to not giving people real glassware. They had a live country band playing, it was ok, but they were playing some fun songs and people were dancing. The crowd is transient, so expect to see people come and go if you stay a long time, the dance floor will be busy for a few minutes and then empty out. There is also an upstairs bar which has a completely different vibe, they were playing some live acoustic music with a Jason M. style singer, had some comfy couches to sit on, and a few games. You can catch a nice view of all the action on 6th street from the upstairs bar. Overall, definitely a great place to grab a drink and catch some live music, if the band downstairs was better we probably would have stayed longer, but we weren't feeling the music.

A group of us entered to listen to some music and have a few drinks. We ended up staying for hours listening to some great live music and loved having Johnny serve us cocktails. I am sure we will be back in the future.

Great place to visit while in Austin. The live music from Aaron Navarro was amazing and we had such a great time. We will totally return next time we are in town.

If my husband and I are downtown we usually stop in for a drink here. Brian behind the bar is always fun to talk to and Johnny is always nice. I like this place because the bathrooms are decent for a bar, they have live music, there is a ring/hook game, and they serve cider. Upstairs the other night they were having a comedy show which we sadly had to miss due to having other plans that evening. I believe they are doing more events up there but haven't been since during reopening after covid.

Love love love the live music at this place! Such an awesome vibe. We had a fun night with friends while bar hopping in Austin on 6th Street. San Jac Saloon was definitely our fav. The beers op tap were great too. This place was super crowded on a Thursday so I can just imagine how packed it can get on a weekend. There is a speakeasy type quiter spot on one of the higher floors if you dont want live music. Either ways a great spot to have fun in Austin. Must visit.

Stumbled upon this bar late on a weeknight after arriving to the Driskill at about 1 a.m. I was sold on the amazing historic building, whiskey selection and much-needed healthy pour after a long flight. But then my husband and I -- who moved away from Austin 12 years ago -- hear the greatest of Austin bar voices: Fuckin' Dublin Johnny from our old Bull McCabes' days (and if you know Johnny you know you have to say F@ckin' Johnny AND you read that with an Irish accent!). Johnny is as old-school Austin as it gets so if he's at San Jac, it has to be worth frequenting!! Cheers, y'all!

Intersecting place! I love it! Love the Bartenders especially Stevie!!! However, the owners seem to be morons! I been here for 3 nights enjoying the music and the crowd! But apparently on Friday and Saturday they don't think than seats at the bar are necessayr! So somehow my body index changes when I stand or sit! HOW STUPID IS THAT??? So they took my seat and I'm paying my bill and leaving! That shit would never happen in Nashvile! Ignorance is bliss!! Every person whose seats were taken left within 30 min! We are the big tippers and sorry my ass on a stool hurt your business! Are you kidding me! Again ignorance is bliss and some people should not own bars! That's why is was so dead WeD thru Fri!
