Where To Eat Along The Burke-Gilman Trail

"Say your bike ride has taken a turn for the worse. Maybe you got stung by a bee and your wrist looks like a honeydew, or maybe this is the first spin after a long hiatus and you’d rather be literally anywhere else. Go to Sand Point. It’s a casual neighborhood restaurant with extremely nice people and an excellent pork schnitzel sandwich. If nothing else, just grab a glass of wine and some wagyu sliders." - aimee rizzo

Where To Eat & Drink Near Seattle Parks

"This neighborhood restaurant has extremely nice people and a varied menu of delicious things to eat for lunch and/or dinner like a cauliflower steak with savory granola and an excellent pork schnitzel sandwich. If nothing else, just grab a beer and a couple of wagyu sliders before going for that swim at Magnuson. Well, at least 30 minutes before." - aimee rizzo

Dined here for 20+ years with family. Haven’t been in a while. Service is always friendly but now almost a little too casual. Steak salad, which I used to love, showed up with the thinnest strips of meat I’ve ever had on a salad and didn’t taste like steak. No avocados available for nachos or taco bowl. Disappointed.

Google
Lost its quality over the years. One person in our party had slightly undercooked food. The bread plate is five dollars for a couple inches of thin baguette sliced up, a shameful overcharge for what is provided. Took fifteen minutes to get my cocktail-- even though bar was empty the server said the bar was backup and thus the delay. Fried chicken was good as usual, but the other entrees and sides were not memorable. Good memories, but I'll dine elsewhere going forward.

Google
Wonderful staff, prompt and friendly service. We got the mussels to start and they were amazing. The blackened salmon salad was wonderful. Salmon was very flavorful, and the salad dressing was great. Dessert was the brownie with Gelato. Very intense chocolate with a smooth Gelato. I can't say enough about this place. It's not too loud to talk, and lingering over conversation is welcome. A new favorite!

Google
What a fantastic surprise! Could not believe that on UW graduation weekend, this place wasn't packed! We had a chicken sandwich, a burger and the steak mac and cheese... O...M...G!!! We kept sharing and arguing who had the best meal! They have a full bar (but personally, I would recommend their iced tea). Extremely clean, comfortable seats, even cloth napkins! The atmosphere was relaxed and service was attentive but not intrusive. We then treated ourselves to desserts... do yourself a favor and indulge in a slice of key lime pie or the bread pudding - homemade and remarkable! This place is a gem and should be jam packed! Great food, service and atmosphere! Support this local business. You won't be sorry!

Google
Super good!!! Great food, atmosphere and service!!! Fish & chips were amazing!!!

Google
I really enjoyed the customer service from the very beginning. Service helped us all to order drinks and food, being able to provide great recommendations for any taste. I greatly enjoyed my salmon special, the vegetables complimented the white rice and lemon tang so well!

Google
Food is excellent quality! The atmosphere in the restaurant is incredibly relaxed and welcoming! The services is wonderful and reasonably priced for the quality, I will be stopping by anytime im in the area!

Google
Totally nailed the local neighborhood grill vibe and delivery. Staff was pleasant and place has cute bistro style decoration. They have vegetarian options which is great. Focused menu with unique items.

Yelp
So many delicious dinner items. Friendly staff and friendly owner. Try the fried chicken sandwich and cauliflower wings!

Yelp
Food was very good, had a nice evening here. Service was a little slow at the beginning but they were very friendly. Overall a good experience would definitely go back.

Yelp
Cozy, neighborhood place. Not fine dining, but it is a comfortable and welcoming restaurant with something on the menu for everyone. Portions are generous and tasty! I loved the red sauce on the meatloaf, and the maple old fashioned was a great accompaniment. Also highly recommend the apple bake for dessert. Yum!! Service was friendly and fast too. Would recommend and return!

Yelp
They permit me to set the record straight. I was born in 1961. I worked my way from dishwasher to kitchen manager in 30 years. I can say that the Sandpoint Grill has got their shit together. During my dishwashing retirement phase, I saw everything that goes on in the kitchen. Is is normally crew, but one that is truly gather that make sure that the food goes out right on tight, as look as the better than the menu describes so that your dinner experience is entirely memorable. No, I do not work for them, but I did, and I can assure you that your dedication to a perfect meal is presentable and very delicious, having taken the time to make sure your enjoyable is picture perfect as it can he can be. Only open five hours a night, this is the "Place above" at you and your date are looking for, for a wonderful memorable night out that will long past memory years. I was glad to be a part of it.

Yelp
When I want to have a nice low key atmosphere , relax and enjoy and cocktail and enjoy dinner, this is one of my "go to" restaurants. Staff is very nice, bartender is great, they really add that personal touch while you are there. We have enjoyed many meals here from there fabulous linguini, fish and chips, superb reuben, and oh those potato skins and more! if you want some good comfort meals, I recommend stopping in. They have limited hours and can get quite busy but we have always been able to get a table. Love having this restaurant in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Stopped in on a rainy Friday night. The maple syrup Old Fashioned started the meal off perfectly, along with the friendly service. Chill, family friendly vibe, good food at reasonable prices. The serving sizes (SW fried chicken salad, Rueben) were just right- and what a treat to see potato skins on the menu! Will be back soon!

Yelp
Great vibe. Grubbin' menu. Good service. Parking is a little tough though.

Yelp
Best nachos in town. I can't explain it except to say they've hit it. Order them and see for yourself. Yum.

Yelp
We tried Sand Point Grill last week for dinner and we're very disappointed. I hope it was just an off night! Food: * Potato skins were delicious (5/5) * Chicken sandwich was ok, nothing special (3.5/5) * Lamb bolognese was terrible (1/5) - prominent flavors were bread and carrots. I think they might have changed the chef or recipe, but it's pretty bad. Pasta was cooke well, but I couldn't taste the lamb and it had no discernible tomato for a "tomato sauce". Avoid this dish! Drinks: Mediocre. My husband ordered the old fashioned (not well balanced - way too sweet) and then a gin & tonic (meh) Service: Pretty sure our waitress was in training, she was really nice but made a lot mistakes... including delivering our food to the wrong table. Unfortunately I'm not sure we will come back, but maybe for the HH and those potato skins. I really hope they can turn things around!

Yelp
We used to be huge fans of Sand Point Grill, dining there at least twice a month. However after it was sold, we were disappointed in the way the new owners managed it so we stopped going. Last month we saw that it was under new management so we stopped by. We were happy with the food, drinks, and service . We went a couple of more times and had the same positive experience. Last night, however, we were disappointed that we received the same attitude as the previous owner. It was not a full night (the place was less than half full) but we had to follow up on a second order of beer (after waiting 15 minutes) and then 30 minutes after we had placed our food order, we were told that the order had not gone through. This was almost exactly the same situation that happened to us before. Just as before, we also noticed that none of the other customers seemed to be having the same issue. We will not be returning.

Yelp
Lovely gastro pub with a neighborhood feel. I went with a couple of buddies looking for something simple with a full bar. They have a great selection of super yummy food, on-point, quick and friendly service, and a clean and open vibe. I do recommend the wagyu sliders and potato skins. Otherwise, you can't go wrong. Food for any occasion, lunch, dinner, family, business, etc.

Yelp
Yum! A neighbor had recommended this restaurant to me a couple of years ago and I kind of forgot about it. Thankfully I remembered and was able to try it out this week! I got here just after 5pm before the dinner rush and tried their Stoup porter (amazing!) as well as the soup of the day (a bunch of veggies pureed with a sort of curry apple flavor and a drizzle of truffle oil. I was nice and satiated by the time my friend arrived to join me. We shared the bruschetta (unique take on this traditional appetizer!) I loved the pomegranate and goat cheese. We also shared the quicos (large corn nuts) dish and enjoyed those very much. For dinner I had the fish tacos but opted to go without the flour tortillas in favor of greens. It ended up being a nice ahi salad - perfect! I tasted the chicken penne pasta dish my friend ordered and it was delightful as well. We finished the meal with the gelatiamo ice cream in cookies and cream and almond flavors (comes with molasses cookies baked fresh and delicious!) Great customer service and lovely dining setting. Looking forward to future visits to this lovely establishment! Parking is available in the City People lot or along Sand Point Way.

Yelp
Happy hour dining totally the best (pricey o/w). Great service and ambient noise low enough that you can have conversations at a comfortable level.

Yelp
We're back!!! There was a period of time when Sand Point Grill fell out of favor for us. It was a frequent weekend dinner destination but several years ago it went downhill and we stopped going. We decided to give them a try a few months ago and now it's back to "dinner twice a month" status. It's under new ownership, new management and a new chef but the menu has many old favorites. Especially good is the fried chicken and the ribeye steak. Cassie is an excellent bartender and Nissi is an excellent server. And they have a GREAT Happy Hour every day from 4-6.

Yelp
Nice, quiet, and cozy neighborhood restaurant. Perfect for weekend date nights or dinner with friends. We tried them out for dinner and found both the food and service were excellent. Reservations were fairly easy through Open Table. The restaurant is on Sand Point Way and there's both street and private lot parking available. There was no wait time and we were immediately seated upon arrival. The menu looked very promising. We started with a round of cocktails and I ordered the maple walnut old fashioned. We ordered the meat and cheese board for our appetizer. For the entrees, we ordered the cioppino and buttermilk fried chicken. The meat and cheese tray was interesting. There were not a lot of meats or cheeses, however an abundance of quicos (giant fried corn kernels). The cioppino was tasty and had a generous amount of fresh fish. The buttermilk chicken was my favorite. It was fried to perfection and served on top of mashed potatoes with a side of haricot vert. Needless to say both dishes were filling and we forgot to leave room for dessert. The staff were prompt, personable, and consistently checked in on our meal. I would not hesitate to return to this restaurant.

Yelp
Raving about the SAND POINT GRILL! The pork chop in sweet marsala sauce was out of this world and I can't stop thinking about it! My neighbor had the Churrasco steak that was prepared perfectly. We begin with the smoked salmon spread with olive tapenade which would have been worth the trip all on its own, followed by Caesar salads that would rival the most authentic of italian restaurants! Mine was a BBT (added bacon, Beecher's cheddar and tomato), and now I'm afraid I can never go back to a plain old Caesar again. The crème brûlée, my favorite dessert, was probably one of the best I've ever had. This little restaurant goes above and beyond in the quality food department, and their service was equally outstanding. Topped off with great cocktails and Seattle-trivia artwork that had us skipping down memory lane, it's safe to say I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I used to come here all the time and the food and service were great. I thought a night out on my own would compensate for the lousy weather we keep having. When I arrived the restaurant was empty but a gentleman came out, brought me water and a menu. I ordered a beer which he served and then disappeared. After a half hour he had not appeared so I got up and asked him for my check. There were three other employees sitting near him. I said that I had felt abandon and he remarked did I think he was going to keep me company? No I responded. He then said that he had a lot of work to do. I handed him my credit card and he then said he would not charge me for the beer. Over the years I have learned that you get horrible service when a restaurant isn't busy.

Sierra H.

Yelp
Been coming to this place with my boyfriend almost weekly. It is so yummy. We have had everything from the steak salad (HIGHLY recommend) to the rib nights. We love everything. We have had great service as well, with the owner there almost every night. It's so great to see a business someone is proud of. We got the salmon special tonight (pictured) and boyfriend got the ribs again. Another great night. Definitely recommend finishing the night with the apple crumble. Simply delicious and worth it everytime.

Yelp
I've been here three times in the past three weeks. Mainly because there were few places around with a decent happy hour nearby. But then I started craving the fries that come with the happy hour burger ($12). Their fries are soooooooo crave-worthy. And the burger has... wait for it... crispy bacon on it! Incredibly nice staff. Mostly went with small groups but once arrived with 9 people and they were more than accommodating. Whoever is the server for the HH section on Saturdays... is a true gem! I had fun with their rotating tap and had some delicious IPAs.

L Marie P.

Yelp
Cute and cozy neighborhood restaurant. Fantastic potato skins. Good entrees overall. Friendly staff.
google avatar

Morgan R.

Yelp
A small restaurant in a mini-strip mall in Sand Point ... the Caesar salad had a nice bite to it, and the fresh anchovies were great. The bread was bland (low quality Italian). The service was friendly and fast. If you're in the neighborhood and need a bite, not bad. Don't make a special trip though.

Samantha Y.

Yelp
Super disappointing. Ordered off of Postmates and the beet salad ($15!!) was literally 4 small pieces of lettuce and maybe 10 beet chunks, the fries were stale, half the green beans were not cooked, the other half burnt. Super disappointing and definitely not worth the money.
google avatar

Menina Do R.

Yelp
What a gem ! The food is really good with some international touch to a neighborhood restaurant menu. The staff was incredible and the price was quite decent. We will certainly come back.

Michael R.

Yelp
Big fan of the food, but good luck getting them to answer the phone for a to-go order.

Yelp
Went here for happy hour and we were very impressed. Their mussels were probably the best mussels we've ever had - well cooked, tender, and had great seafood and garlic flavor. We also ate their schnitzel sandwich which was good as well. Nicely cooked and very crispy schnitzel. Price is reasonable and a really cute local restaurant feel that I really appreciate. Service was also on point. I just wish their beer selection was larger. I've had the regular menu before and the risotto is super amazing. Definitely a must try.

Yelp
Change is inevitable. And it has come to the Sand Point Grill under a new owner. The place is still very popular- there are few neighborhood places like it. But now profit, it seems, has become dominant. Drinks are pricier and smaller, not everyone's concern I realize. Many of the friendly staff remain, but they seem more driven. The restaurant business is tough, I realize, but I mourn the more relaxed atmosphere, and of course the bargain drink prices.

Yelp
Why did it take me so long to find this wonderful, casual yet sophisticated neighborhood restaurant? Their thoughtful and honest menu has something great for every occasion while protein features prominently (i.e., good value!) both on the vegetarian, fish and carnivore side of the equation if I'm saying that correctly. I can't decide which I like best, the natural, roasted pork chop, the grass-fed beef and lamb fettucini or the fried chicken. Paraphrasing a well known comedian, I don't know what they did with that chicken, but it's (beyond) delicious. Anyway, I haven't even had everything on the menu yet and already I have some favorites. Bar area with TV, limited window seating, high tables, regular tables. Street parking. Average noise level. Good for romantic dining and for families with a limited number of kids in tow. Nice draft and bottled beer selection including a local Kilt Lifter; very good wine list. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Picked up dinner for myself and my daughter, who is a patient at Seattle Children's. The food was ***delicious***, and they went above and beyond sending a to-go creme brûlée for a teenager who isn't allowed to leave the hospital. Thank you!!!

Michael G.

Yelp
Horrible customer service, when I called to talked to the manager, the person I was taking too wasn't taking me serious and referred to me as "that kid" in the restaurant. The manager also never called me back so if you appreciate kind and patient people, don't come here!
google avatar

Rona L.

Yelp
I came here for Happy Hour though I wasn't particularly hungry. I ordered a couple of bottled beers for $2 each and a snack plate for $2 off their bar menu price. It came with an assortment of olives, salami, breadsticks, savory cornbread, and nuts. It was satisfying to be able to pick at little things here and there while sipping down some cold beers and enjoying good conversation. Service was great and our server/bartender was very friendly and attentive. I wasn't blown away by their Happy Hour selection though it did seem that a few of the items looked worth the trip. Overall, I think there are better happy hour options in the area. I did hear their regular menu was pretty tasty though. Maybe I'll come back for dinner!

Aliya S.

Yelp
There are not too many dining options in our neighborhood, so we come to Sand Point Grill at least once a week. Food is good and service is not bad too. But here is the thing I want to let management know. Yesterday we came around 7:25 - 7:30, and the waitress informed us that they stop sitting people around this time, even though the restaurant closes at 8. There were at least 4 groups of 3-4 people who tried to get a table at that time. I used to work in the restaurants and all of them welcomed customers until closing time. I am have never experienced anything like this before. So they open at 4 and close by 7:30. You have 3.5 hours to get a table and try the food here
google avatar

Natalia M.

Yelp
I'm so glad Sand Point Grill is operating during COVID-19. They have the best burger in Seattle
google avatar

Patrice R.

Yelp
The change in ownership at the restaurant has not been good. An entirely new menu and it's a completely different staff, environment and culture. Food is adequate, and the wait staff was mediocre but the set menus were uninteresting and the push from the wait staff was offensive. Any typical weeknight the restaurant would have been packed with families and friends. Now, barely a third of the restaurant was filled. We won't be back.
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
Went here for our anniversary dinner this evening. Didn't know quite what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised with the restaurant & the food. Hubby had an excellent Vodka Martini & I had a yummy Manhattan. We split the special appie of the day, a razor clam fritter. $10 for 4 pieces that were overcooked and left me disappointed. But it got much better when our entrees arrived. I had the delicious fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy & spring veggie saute. Would definitely order it again. Honey had the Caesar Salad with White Anchovies and the Mussels. Both were great. Make sure to ask for bread, it's good stuff, not fluff.
google avatar

Christen G.

Yelp
My girl works close to here and was needing a cocktail and an early dinner after work. Arrived around 6 and the front bar was crackin. Sadly happy hour drinks didn't extend to the dining room which accounts for a half star gone. Our sever was super sweet. The mussels were incredible. My sausage was over cooked the goat cheese purée was incredible. The fish tacos app was enough for dinner but the black been were so watery that we drained them and changed plates. The fish was also over cooked. Spinach salad was large. Portions were large in general. While his place was fine, I probably won't be back. Pretty boring and nothing special.
google avatar

Hayley N.

Yelp
We had take out hamburgers and fried tonight from SPG and they were delicious, and their usual great fries, too. Would highly recommend you support them during this difficult time.

Hillary U.

Yelp
Since I cannot go out much due to health reasons, I rely on Uber Eats for much of my food deliveries. I saw Sand Point Grill was listed as a top eat and I live in the neighborhood so I thought "let's do it." I gotta thank all the Yelpers because they sang praises for the burger and IT. DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT! It was still perfect when it got to my house and it was literally heaven. I scarfed it up so fast! The fries were also delicious and I tried the potato skins - so good. Delivery was perfect for my order and I will be back for that craveable burger!!!
google avatar

Xingyi S.

Yelp
Great cozy local restaurant that has a changing menu seasonally with great tasty food. It is one of my favorite restaurant that I always like to go. The environment feels intimate and relaxed. Well packed place but barely need to wait for an open table.
google avatar

Kelli D.

Yelp
We ate dinner here last night with our 18 month old and parents/in-laws, and they could not have been more wonderful to our son (and all of us). They had the table all set for our reservation along with the high chair, and when we sat down, brought over some Curious George board books for him to flip through, along with some cut up fruit and avocado. Not only that, but they were super warm and friendly with him and all of us the entire meal. The service was above-and-beyond. The food was delicious. I had the cioppino, and we ordered some mussels for the table. Both were great. Strong drinks, and a good beer selection as well, and a good selection of entrees for vegetarians. The dinner was before a big surgery for one of our family members, so the kindness of the staff was appreciated more than they likely knew. We live in the neighborhood and will absolutely be going back soon.

Yelp
This place is an absolute gem! The staff and food are the best. Don't make it by nearly enough.
google avatar

Shep G.

Yelp
This is one of those places that you wish was around the corner from your own house. Great bar, great food, good atmosphere as well as good service from nice people. Go, if you are thinking about it

Michael S.

Yelp
I've done two carry-outs in the last week, and the food and service have been amazing. The best salad is one of the best beet salads I've ever had, with red AND golden beets! The potato skins were an updated version and were tasty, crispy, and the dipping sauce complimented them perfectly. Tried a few other dishes, all of which were equally delicious. Give this place a try if you haven't!!!
google avatar

Clint W.

Yelp
Small restaurant that gives off that neighborhood vibe. Regulars were sitting at the bar when we walked in. We had some great sliders to open up. My friends had the pork chops and the oxtail pasta, while I had to try the fried chicken. Solid, but not outstanding. What did surprise me was that they havd a special of foie gras. I wasn't expecting that. The bartender was pretty friendly, but the rest of the staff seemed to be going through the motions. Maybe it was because we weren't regulars. It's maybe a place to sidle up to grab a beverage and some bar food if you're in the area.
google avatar

Sean K.

Yelp
We have never been in person but they are on Postmates and we have ordered them a bunch and the food is tasty. Unfortunately they have gotten less and less reliable of a place to order takeout from and our recent order didn't get placed at all. If you are in person, give it a shot. If you are thinking of ordering from a delivery service expect problems.
google avatar

Honey B.

Yelp
I hooped by yesterday to have a couple drinks. I got a roasted beet salad OMG!!! It was fabulous roasted beet, Brussels sprout leafs, blue cheese w/ cranberry vinaigrette. The burger was fine.... Beer was really cheap $3 for happy hours. The bartender was nice. The thing of this place is there no one to seat us we had to wait for like almost 10 mins then we decided to grabbed the seats at the bar.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Food was delicious - we ordered the flank steak, chicken & broccoli pasta, and steak arugula salad. The portions are small but it was fulfilling and we enjoyed the food. The staff are very friendly, and the restaurants itself had a nice mellow vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm new to Sand Point, found this spot on Yelp, and decided to check it out. My girlfriend and I went on Rib Night and were absolutely blown away. My hands have never been cleaner at the end of a rib dinner - the meat fell off the bone with the scrape of a fork. Holy cow. We also ordered the Ruben, which I believe is a regular menu item, and it was everything we could have hoped for. There was a noticeable presence of seafood options on the menu which I am curious to try in the future. Our server was also great. He was friendly and genuine in his demeanor. Nothing but good things to say about the staff here. I'm super glad this place is so close to where I live. I will inevitably be back again. And then some.

Patricia C.

Yelp
My husband and I have been regulars at this restaurant for several years. We've always consider it a consistently good place. The food has always been good. Recently, the restaurant was sold and we've been disappointed in the quality of the food. I ordered the Caesar salad with the fried chicken. This was my main course. The salad has shrunk in size and the chicken was not crunchy fried, it was soggy. There's something different about the dressing, as well. We like the Happy Hour and the bar tenders, but if the food keeps going down hill, they've lost us and I've heard the same from other regulars. Too bad!! We wish them good luck.
