The 38 Best Pittsburgh Restaurants - Eater

"You can’t talk about Pittsburgh without mentioning pierogies. This bare-bones market offers fresh meats, sausages, and pastries, alongside pierogies stuffed with fresh fillings like sauerkraut and mushroom, or spinach and sweet farmer cheese. S&D also serves some of the city’s best haluszki, a Pittsburgh favorite of soft egg noodles served with sweet cabbage, onions, and butter." - Briana L White

Google
Atmosphere- 3 stars- this a takeout/store/deli. Can get very crowded and have a long line depending on the day and time. Not a lot of room to move around and browse. If you’re not into Polish cuisine, the menu might feel limited. It’s heavy on traditional fare like pierogi, kielbasa, and stuffed cabbage — delicious but not particularly diverse. Service- 4 stars- it’s hard to rank this because it is counter service. Employees seemed friendly enough though. Food- 4 stars- 5. Not Made to Order: Much of the food is prepared ahead of time and kept warm — more deli-style than restaurant-style, so don’t expect made-from-scratch speed or presentation. I had the pierogis as well as the Haluski which both were good. The pierogis were stuffed with potatoes and covered with butter and onions but not excessive. They were very filling. Not the best I ever had but not bad. The Haluski was a bit better and was a decent sized serving- fried cabbage, noodles, some kind of cheese and covered with bacon bits. Would get this again. Not a bad place to stop in for a quick bite but I would not make this my main stop for a full meal.

Google
A gem. It’s really a market with limited seating, but you can find all you need to eat there. The pierogi were incredible, one of the best textures I’ve had. The haluski comes in different varieties but all good. Also an amazing desert section.

Google
My favorite stop in Pittsburgh. Huge selection of polish food and products. They have packaged groceries, fresh meats and frozen specialties. Great candy selection too. They also offer hot entrees (pierogies, halushki, sausage, etc) that you can eat in house. There are a handful of seats in the back. A must visit if you enjoy polish foodd.

Google
Wonderful Polish deli! Home made pierogis, kielbasa, pastries, condiments, etc. Fresh as well as frozen. It was busy. You can get meals. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Worth a visit to stock up on your Polish supplies.

Google
S&D Polish Deli in Pittsburgh’s Strip District is an absolute gem! This family-run spot is a haven for authentic Polish cuisine, offering everything from mouthwatering pierogies to perfectly smoked kielbasa. The deli counter is stocked with an impressive variety of imported Polish meats, cheeses, and sweets, and the shelves are filled with unique goodies that you can’t find just anywhere. The staff is incredibly friendly, always ready to guide you through the menu or help you pick out something special from the store. Affordable prices, a cozy atmosphere, and the chance to take home authentic Polish ingredients make this place a must-visit. Whether you’re a Pittsburgh local or just passing through, S&D Polish Deli is a culinary treasure that deserves every bit of its stellar reputation!

Google
Great deli. This was the best place I visited in Pittsburgh. The staff was really nice, helpful and it was family run and gave off a homey vibe while also having a lot of choices of meats, cheeses, beverages, memorabilia, snacks, chocolates, as well as some hygiene/beauty products and more. I went here with someone and we had a fun time looking at all the stuff. This place has authentic ethnic Polish everything I mentioned. It's very traditional in that sense and modern as well with English speaking staff obviously born here with a mix of the older staff heavily accented obviously not. They informed us on their own that certain stores close early on Sun and were very helpful in that aspect with manners of the old country. Some products are labeled in Polish, English, or both but the staff will tell you exactly what your buying. The memorabilia is lacking though, very limited and to me not what I'd want so I wouldn't go here for that.

Google
This was a cool little deli, unassumingly tucked in a little like of stores. If I wasn’t actively seeking out authentic, homemade, pirogies I could’ve easily missed it! It looked exactly how I thought it would look quite full of all kinds of goodies. There were no tables inside, but there were several set up outside. I found the pierogies inside and a warming box in portions of four each with several different options. I bought one of each kind and my family and I shared them. They were all delicious! Next time we come back, I will try the Haluska and anything else I can get my hands on. This is about as authentic as it gets, and I would recommend it to anybody who’s in the area!

August Hug

Google
Very well kept little place with a huge selection of polish snacks, jarred foods, and desserts. I had pierogi and haluski which were both ridiculously good and also reasonably priced. The staff were very warm and appreciative of our business and I just can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Yelp
So good! I walked in and the familiar smells and packages made me feel all warm inside. There were cookies and candies that I remembered from my youth, treats from my Oma and my Tantes that are both delicious and nostalgic. I like that they have small batches of the candies bagged up, so I was able to get a small amount of a variety of things instead of having to choose one or two items. The kielbasa and sauerkraut on a roll was DELICIOUS. They put the sauerkraut on the bottom and on top of the kielbasa and it was wrapped in foil so it gave the kraut juice time to soak in and it steamed the bread and it was perfection. The pierogies and the buttered noodles with cabbage, bacon, and farmers cheese were also delicious. The meal and the treats that followed made me feel like I had communed with my ancestors. My Oma, my Tantes, and all the women who came before them.

Yelp
I'm thrilled that we stumbled upon here one day and discovered the joys of really authentic Polish food in the strip district. The person behind the counter looked like a granddaughter of the woman who was running the kitchen in the back. They must have been here for generations. I liked the different style of pierogies such as spinach and feta, which was really mostly spinach and no potato inside. There are a lot of shelfstable products such as candies and canned foods that you can purchase to take home as well. It's not really set up for a dine-in experience, but there's a tiny counter where you can stand or pull up a stool. So if you're looking for a sit down restaurant, this is not the place. If you're in the area, you might as well give it a try.

Yelp
Even though Pittsburgh is known for pirogies, it is hard to find them or hard to find good ones. One place that does sell great pirogies is S&D Polish Deli. This is a market with a they have a place where they have their pirogies and other Polish fare. The Haluski was awesome but the cheese and bacon added great flavor. I will say this...make sure to come early since the pirogies go fast and there are limited flavors and qualities.

Yelp
What a cool, authentic place! I was visiting a friend and we stopped on my way out of town. I'd seen this and wanted to try. I got some ready items to take and eat, but if I lived here it would be a great place to go. Lots of great product and the pierogis and kielbasa were plentiful and delicious!

Yelp
Glad we made it to this famous Polish deli. The pierogies and polish sausage are so delicious. We didn't eat the pierogies at the shop, since they have have several tables outside of the shop, instead pan fried after got home and tasted even better. We bought the traditional potato and cheese pierogies, vegetarian mushroom pierogies, regular sausage, nuts cookies , various chocolate, baking extract, and other miscellaneous items. Everything was delicious & only wish we bought more . The shop is small, long and narrow, not much space to maneuver around especially when other customers also in the shop. Given its popularity, this shop is always busy, but cashier is very efficient at check out so the line moves fast. S&D located in the strip district, is a high walking score area with lots to see and convenient paid parking lots nearby, we paid $10 flat daily rate. Highly recommend & come hungry @WineDinenVacay

Yelp
I knew I wanted to try some pierogi's while in Pittsburgh, and found S&D through Yelp. My husband and I stopped in for a snacky meal and got some potato and cheddar pierogis and kielbasa and sauerkraut to share. They have the hot foods available in a case that keeps it warm. They also have a few things in the cold case that you can ask them to heat up. They have a few small seats available where you can eat your food. Overall, the food was good! I kind of wish the pierogi's had a sauce, but I saw upon leaving that you can ask for sour cream by request. Aside from the hot food, they have a selection of Polish groceries that were interesting to peruse.

Yelp
Authentic polish deli right off the strip district. Delicious cheese Pierogies and haluski. Friendly workers, quick to restock the warm Pierogies. Will visit every time I'm down there!

Yelp
We were disappointed that S & D deli is a lunch place. Also there was only outside seating. And only small choices for the "warm" food. The clerk behind the counter tried to help with our questions.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
The food was phenomenal and fresh. The pierogis dough was melt in your mouth. I ordered the sauerkraut and mushroom which was delicious. The lady at the counter was super helpful and the woman along the food was also helpful in finding the different items in the coolers and cases. Very authentic place with great quality food and service.

Yelp
Decided to finally visit the Polish Deli during a strip Sunday and sample some "snacks." I'm not sure if it was just because it's Sunday or if it's like this every day, but the hot foods were sitting in a grab & go case. Nothing wrong with that I was just expecting made-to-order. I'm sure it was freshly made that morning. We split the potato and cheese pierogies (comes with 4) and some Haluski. Both were delicious, though very buttery. I could have done without the bacon on the Haluski but it was tasty. I'm sure they have a version that's just cabbage but the prepared food was pretty picked over. They also have a great selection of polish seasonings, sweets, fresh sausages, and many more polish goods.

Yelp
Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: N/A (not a sit-down restaurant, grab and go) We were surprised to learn this was not a dine-in restaurant, but rather a store with hot dishes in plastic containers you can grab and go. There is no seating. There were not many options at the time we arrived, but we were able to buy a kielbasa (sausage) sandwich, haluszki (essentially butter noodles) with bacon, and pierogi (boiled potato dumplings). It's not the most flavorful cuisine, but my husband and I enjoyed trying Polish food for the first time. Keep in mind there is an extra charge for credit cards.

Yelp
Tucked away in a tiny space on Penn Avenue is a marvelous Polish grocery store with a small lunch space. And Polish food is one of the best things to sample when experiencing local Pittsburgh culture. The store has many authentic Polish items and is well stocked. But we were here for the food. Now, their pierogi were pretty good, although I've had better in a few other spots across the U.S. as well as in the motherland Poland. The haluszki was tasty, and their kielbasa dipped in spicy mustard was excellent! But it was the fresh sauerkraut that unassumingly came with the order that was stunning!
google avatar

Ken L.

Yelp
Took a walk down the strip and searched for something different. Saw S&D and opted for what was left in their hot box. Polish sausage and kraut and a side of potato perogis looked good. Requested a side of mustard for the sausage and sour cream for the perogis. No compliants and worked well for lunch break!

Yelp
I searched for an authentic Polish deli while visiting the area and based on many reviews decided to give S&D a try. This is a deli so you'll need to order online or go in person - there is no seating. This business is located in a cool area and easy to find. We tried the Borsht, potato pancakes, Perogi and Keilbasi. Plus I loved Kolaczki's growing up so I needed to try these. They had the apricot filled and nut I wanted to try the nut filled as they looked delish and I had never tried or made those. One container is $15.00 and about 12 or so cookies. Well worth it! We all loved the food we tried. And just know the Kielbasi is legit - totally different than store package types. This is alone is worth the trip. I will be back to try a few other items and really enjoyed the food. It took me back to special memories with my gramma.

Yelp
Yes!!!!!!! S&D Polish deli delivered! Not literally. Coming from Texas but raised with a family who was from Ohio, pierogis were a staple in my household. My sister and I flew through Pitts and I found the awesome Deli/market online. We were able to walk from our hotel (Westin). My only regret is we didn't find the place on our 1st day because I would have came back every day and tried a different dish. The potato egg and cheese pierogi were everything my stomach desired. I wish I could have tried the noodles and cabbage and I should have just bought it to try a bit out of it. They had different types of kielbasa which they friendly ladies let me sample at the counter. I ended up having the wedding and Black Forest kielbasa vacuum sealed for my trip back to Texas. I also bought some frozen pierogi which they also packed and put on ice packs for my journey home. They also ship!!!! Renata was so friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Delicious Polish deli located on Penn Ave. Simple Polish deli with traditional fare plus meats, sweets & products imported from Eastern Europe! Got their haluski, potato cheese pierogies & regular kielbasa! Fresh, tasty & homemade! Can't wait to go back and try some more Polish foods!
google avatar

Adam H.

Yelp
Absolutely the best pierogi I've ever had the pleasure of eating! This is a family business. Nothing fancy. In fact, the young lady taking care of us said "Good luck" when I told her we'd find a table outside the restaurant on the street. And that's just cool like a panther on the prowl! Come early, because they sell out.

Yelp
Food is great. Parking is terrible. We don't go there anymore because of the parking situation.

Yelp
For several years, I have been a customer of S&D Polish Deli off and on. S&D is a small grocery store that sells Polish pierogies, meats, soups, canned goods, desserts, candies, gifts/souvenirs, etcetera. Since my last visit, I think that some of the products have changed. I used to love S&D's pierogies, haluszki, and borsch, and now I think that they taste good and not great. Their kolaczki cookies tasted very good but were a little burnt. The employee who rang up my purchase was friendly. The checkout was fast and accurate. Prices were reasonable. Please note that you can also use their website to order food for pickup or delivery.
google avatar

Humphrey F.

Yelp
After trying the pierogies here, I no longer feel like having frozen pierogies from other grocery store. Used flour and potato are totally different and exceptional. Also, there is a table for dining in at current in winter, which is very considerate measure on chilly days.
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
Authentic polish food. Must if you have never had local food. Prepackaged so no wait if in a hurry. Not much for seating. It's better to take away can even reheat if needed
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
Small portions but good! Gotta eat outside. Very limited hot food to eat there. More of a store than restaurant
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
If you're within 50 miles of this place, drop what you're doing and go here to eat pierogies and kielbasa. The food here is excellent, and the staff were all so nice.
google avatar

Yelp
My grandfather is Polish ~ so I grew up eating pastries and dishes he would create. 6 years after he passed away, I finally came back up to Pittsburgh to visit my grandmother. It was nostalgic to dive into the Polish demographic and food culture, here, at S&D Polish Deli. I couldn't remember the last time I had perogies and they're just as amazing as I had remembered. Things you should know: I. PARKING There's street parking but spaces are scarce and fill by noon. II. SERVICE no complaints III. QUALITY authentic
google avatar

Allan A.

Yelp
This is more of a Polish market retail shop than a sit-down restaurant. There are 3 tables with folding chairs outside the shop but all were taken when I visited. The staff was kind enough to let me eat my pierogi standing up near the back. They had a few varieties of cooked pierorogies in a hot box that you can select from. All were in to go container. My sauerkraut and potato pierogi were quite tasty. There were no sides to order.

Maria A.

Yelp
There is nothing more Pittsburgh than having some pierogis in the strip on a Sunday but this place is an institution and so cute, it's a little polish grocery store but they have frozen homemade pierogies to buy and also a deli counter with tons of kielbasas and cabbage fare, and also an assortment of pierogies, nothing flashy but very yummy and comforting, I grabbed some polish fruit drink from the back that was really good, sour cream is available upon request!
google avatar

Stefany V.

Yelp
In Pittsburgh? You better try some pierogis while you're here. S&D was one of the few places to pop up on my radar with "hot and ready" options - several places have them available premade for pickup to cook and enjoy at home, and they also have those here, but I wanted to try them on site. The potato and cheese pierogis were perfect, swimming in butter and onions like they should be. Note that the hot pierogis are in a warming case by the register and frozen/cold bags of pierogis are in the refrigerator cases in the back - a handful of classic flavors available, but I stuck to the classic. 4 piece order was $5, ate them at the sidewalk table outside, and they really hit the spot. Overall, the shop itself is cozy with the aroma of homemade Polish food. Pretty decent variety of frozen foods, candies/desserts, and cooking supplies. Staff were friendly, lunch specials available. They are open daily but close fairly early around 4PM so plan ahead.

Yelp
While visiting Pittsburgh I really wanted to try some authentic pierogies. I didn't have a specific spot picked out, so while walking through the Strip District we decided to check out S&D Polish Deli. This spot is a small grocery offering up Polish meats, sausages, and tons of Polish imported products. It was really cool to look around at everything! The shop also has a kitchen, where you can order items like pierogies, borscht, stuffed cabbage, sausages, and more. They also offer bakery items. I opted for the pierogies, filled with potato and cheese. I was really excited for the experience, but unfortunately, they weren't great. I think they would have been much better if they were hot and fresh, but they seemed like they had been sitting around a while. They were room temperature (at best) and very densely solidified. Not very tasty. There are lots of other great spots to grab food in the Strip District, so based on my experience, I doubt I'll be returning to S&D.

Yelp
My husband and I were visiting Pittsburgh this month and went in search of pierogies. Thankfully, we found S&D Polish Deli! They have AMAZING pierogies! Actually, they have all sorts of amazing food, but I want to focus on the pierogies first. We stopped in at lunch, and they had ready-to-go boxes of four pierogies, made fresh that morning (or just minutes ago). They told us the pierogies are made fresh throughout the day to keep up with customer demand. I had the potato and farmer's cheese, and my husband had the meat, and we traded bites to be able to sample both. They were splendid and oh-so-tasty! The fillings were delicious, and the pasta wraps were outstanding. It really was a nearly indescribable meal, except to say that they were the perfect pierogies and exactly what we were looking for! We had raspberry and seaberry compotes to drink, which were excellent; what's better than juice with actual fruit included?! S&D is a complete quality deli, family-run, with authentic food from Poland (chips, drinks, etc.) as well as a full deli counter with fresh meats and cheeses. We were happy to discover that they have an extensive online catalogue of fresh foods--everything from single items to family dinners to party platters--and can ship anywhere in the US. We are placing an order when we get home! The deli is a neighborhood fixture nestled between a fresh fish market/restaurant and a candy store and is a local gem in the Strip District. They get our vote for the BEST pierogies, not only in Pittsburgh, but anywhere we've ever been! Thank you for your MARVELOUS food!

Diane G.

Yelp
While the food did look tasty, this is not a restaurant. There are no tables. You can get some warm food out of the case and I guess take it somewhere and eat it. I feel that the description is very misleading. We walked 2 miles in the heat to have a nice polish breakfast/lunch. Extremely disappointing.
google avatar

Vickie B.

Yelp
Ok this is a 4.5 for me mainly because they didnt have quite the selection of prepared hot foods that I wanted. I was hoping for the stew and while the kielbasa with sauerkraut smelled good, I didnt want that today. And I like my Haluska slightly better. So just under 5. But, I really enjoyed this little place stuffed to the gills with all kinds of polish products. I could have easily spent an hour just studying the canned goods. We ended up with a quart of haluska and a dozen sauerkraut mushroom pierogies. I was surprised the pierogies were not sour and I could really taste the mushroom. It came in it's own butter sauce so we just popped it in the frying pan. Now I make pierogies for when I am not in the burg. And I was in awe with how much filling there was in that little pierogies. I cant do that and still close the pierogies. The fresh selections were a little low, later in the week is probably better than a monday. Lots of frozen pierogies and I was amused to see that they even did what I did, put chocolate in one of them. The small bakery section had plenty to choose from. Those apricot things and the poppyseed roll were most tempting. As was the meat case filled with sausages. Friendly efficient service. I see I forgot to take a picture of the big wall with canned goods that I was fascinated with.

Yelp
Unfortunately, Covid has affected this restaurant in a negative way. I was really looking forward to lunch here but experience just isn't the same at all. The food wasn't as good, either. All the picnic tables at the back of the restaurant are gone and the restrooms are closed. You order at the front cash register and then you get your food in Styrofoam containers in a to go bag. If you want to sit at one of the little plastic tables outside on the sidewalk and eat it, you can. We did this and it was windy and the napkins were all over the place and it was just a mess. Not fun at all. Maybe it was just our imaginations, but the food wasn't as good, either. We ordered stuffed cabbage and could hardly find anything but rice in it. All in all, it was a disappointing experience that I cannot recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot. Grabbed the Kielbasa, stuffed cabbage and the strawberry and cheese pierogis. Too hungry to take pictures but the pierogis were game changers.

Yelp
This was the perfect authentic Polish Pittsburgh experience for a traveler. It was fun and unique.

Yelp
The food is always delicious!! I stop there every year when I visit Pittsburgh!! I recommend the fresh pierogies with kielbasa!!! Thank you!!!

Yelp
My first time here as I'm visiting - we came to try the food, but unfortunately, the "restaurant" is not operating. You can't order platters or anything freshly made - they have a grab n' go warmer where you can buy their pre-cooked food. There is no menu to read, just the prices written on the food warmer which were poorly legible. There is no where to sit and eat besides some tables outside, but it was snowing, wet, and windy. The pierogies here were great though! They were hot despite being in the warmer since the morning and they had melted butter over them. They unfortunately only had 2 of the many fillings they normally offer, which were potato and cheddar cheese, and sauerkraut. Both were delicious, but wish we could have tried some other flavors. We also got a kielbasa sandwich from the warmer, but the bread was pretty tough and the whole sandwich was super dry. They sold a box of cookies w/ apricot jam which were great! Then another with fried pieces of dough that I found kinda dry and didn't love. Overall, would come back for their pierogies but only to go! Hopefully would be here on a warm day.
google avatar

Jonathan A.

Yelp
Stopped by for perogies while shopping at the strip. The place was packed and there's only one cashier. We got the pierogi's to go because they don't have seating anymore. We got the cheddar cheese pierogis and they were pretty good, but dousing them in butter sure doesn't hurt that. Would be nice if they had some more flavors available for grab and go.
google avatar

Shelby Z.

Yelp
I quickly learned that the Strip District has grocery stores for just about any ethnic food you could want. Chinese, Japanese, Mexican...but Polish?? Now that's one I don't think I've ever seen. I know just about nothing when it comes to Poland or Polish food, but it's safe to say that this grocery educated me real quick! With the selection they have, you wouldn't even think you were in the U.S... Meats, packaged goods, sweets...it's just about all there. So much culture in one tiny little shop!
google avatar

Ivy L.

Yelp
I saw that S&D Polish Deli was on Grub Hub after searching for pierogis on Yelp. Instead of venturing out and back, I decided that ordering pierogis to the hotel would be the best option while we got ready for our day. We ordered a dozen pierogis, your choice of flavor so we opted for the most common cheese and potatoes. I wanted them pan fried so I specified this on my order, with the butter/onion sauce on the side. I was so disappointed when we got boiled pierogis instead. They were mushy and tasted like mash potatoes. Boo!! Ruined my pierogi experience - it was on my list of must haves while visiting Pittsburgh too. We also ordered the Kielbasa sausage to try. It was good! I liked that it wasn't so greasy. It came with bread, some beet jam, and hot mustard. Very interesting combo. We got the Polish Style Haluszki as well since we haven't had it before, it was noodles with butter, cheese and bacon. We actually quite liked it and it was a good sized portion for the price. I think we enjoyed everything, except for the boiled pierogis. Wish they would've honored our request to fry them cause we probably would've enjoyed them a lot more. The apricot cookies were buttery and delicious as well! Nice sweet treat to end our meal!

Auralia H.

Yelp
Very authentic polish food! You are able to shop polish products that are frozen and non perishable. They also have a deli with hot, prepared food available for take out. They do have a small space inside to dine in as well. My favorite is the haluszki and kielbasa! The noodles are garlicky, buttery and seasoned with herbs. The traditional plum filled paczki was also delicious! Pierogis and stuffed cabbage are also popular here.

Yelp
S&D Polish Deli was a delicious stop off while bouncing around the strip in Pittsburgh. There is a huge variety of Polish groceries, candy, clothing, etc. to satisfy your Old Country needs! The potato and cheddar pierogis were super tasty, stuffed full to the max and swimming in delicious butter. Super friendly staff and little tables to sit and eat outside on the sidewalk makes this a perfect stop for your Polish food fix!

Yelp
I love this small store. It was a more of an impromptu visit after lunch, but the pierogies were delicious! I recommend getting the spinach one. As soon as you walk in, you will notice that it is kind of like a small deli and there is not much room to wiggle around. However, don't let that deter you because some of the items here were rare finds such as black currant juice and syrup. I was actually looking for currant. I came here for the pierogies though and that is seen in the grab and go section. They have a bunch waiting to be picked up and just pick up one and eat right outside while they are fresh and hot and you will not regret it. The people who work here are all super nice and they are willing to talk and give you suggestions and recommendations about the places nearby. I think I enjoyed the conversation more than the pierogies themselves, but hey... that's just me. This place carved out a special memory for me just from the whole experience.

Yelp
My parents and I stopped here for lunch and so happy we did! Very authentic and everything tasted delicious. We visited on a Saturday so the line was pretty long. We ordered the polish and kielbasa platter. The stuffed cabbage was very tasty, but our least favorite. Kielbasa, haluszki and pierogis were delicious 10/10. We got a mix of pierogis which included potato cheddar and plum. The plum was interesting and I'm happy I tried it, but sticking with potato cheddar next time. Also bought some cookies!

Yelp
Have been wanting to try for a long time. Really disappointed. Everything is so expensive. It was so dark inside the store it was hard to see. The cabbage rolls were so disappointing, tough cabbage and the filling odd. Asked how much a package of 2 cost and they didn't know. Definitely not worth what I paid. Pierogis Plus has, in my opinion, the best pierogis and stuffed cabbage. My family tried the food I bought and they weren't terribly fond of it or the pierogis, potato cheese, either. Even though we were disappointed we'll keep trying new businesses.

Yelp
Polish grocery with a wide range of imported goods and butcher shop items. Had the sauerkraut pierogi and the haluszki from the hot/prepared case for a midday snack and they were totally delicious. I'm usually a fried pierogi fan, but their boiled version, smothered in butter and onion, really highlighted how awesome their dough and filling are. I would love to try the farmer's cheese pierogi. The haluszki was also very good, maybe a little less cabbage than I hoped, but twice as much meat as I expected. Great value and a perfect snack for an afternoon in the Strip District.

Yelp
Pierogies Pierogies Pierogies. Potatoes and cheese stuffed inside dough. You cannot go wrong any way you do this. I will eat a dozen of these at any given chance. I know it's not healthy. I know it's a bunch of starch. I know you will probably stare at me while I down one after another. But I don't care. Pierogies are life. My mouth waters as I type this because I am a potato person with a potato body (they call that Dad Bod now). It's like the best comfort food to me. It smells like home. It reminds me of my grandparents. It's my connection to the past and my guiding light to my future. All kidding aside, I do love some good home cooking. They do it great here. So you know, the kitchen closes at a different hour during the week, so make sure you get there early in order to get you some food.

Yelp
We had S&D Deli cater a recent dinner for my family as we gathered to celebrate our grandfather who had passed. It was my first time having their food and it was a HUGE hit. All the food is super authentic and delicious. It is hard to find catering options where the quality is good when serving a lot of people. Everything was super fresh and full of flavor. Our favorites were the pierogies, and the kielbasa/sour kraut (which everyone was fighting over the last of). Definitely recommend for an event or just to swing by for a tasty lunch!

Yelp
The Best pirogies I've had in Pittsburgh plus the smoked kalbasi sandwich was also excellent. The store also has a big selection on Polish staples plus a hot section with pierogies and kalbasi. Staff was very friendly

Yelp
Definitely recommend stopping here for some fresh pierogi and sausages! They also have lots of take away items for sale. Friendly staff. They have tables outside you can eat at.
