"The spice levels at this fried chicken spot, which range from not hot to damn hot, are not to be trifled with. Score your super-spicy yardbird on a sandwich, as tenders, or consider the vegetarian option, called “the imposter.”" - Rachel Pinn

S&J’s Hot Chick at 2201 W Northwest Hwy #120, Dallas, TX 75220 Ask for the 🤩 J's special "A bed of french fries, nicely seasoned, sliced up chicken with macaroni cheese on top and two types of sauce" 🤤 Now the hot chicken itself had a weird texture on the chicken strips and was not too hot to be the second one from the top. I do wish I had ordered some Parmesan fries also but this will get me there one more time. There's room to sit down and eat in this place. I'm really not sure how late they're open on like a Friday or Saturday. But since this is in the local Club area if they stay open late and people figure out this place is there they're going to have a Cult following pretty soon. This is at a gas station on the right side. The parking lot is big enough for about 30 something cars but parking in front of the building is very limited. 👍👍

Always get the s&js special late at night never miss! Fries are crisp and spicy same with the chicken it's well cooked and seasoned to perfection! Definitely would recommend Great place inside ambiance is pretty unique there’s an attractive sign outside and high top seats inside great place.

The chicken was all seasoned the same with hardly any flavor. The chicken strip sizes were decent. We paid extra for flavored dip and it was over priced. The banana pudding was good but again a very small portion for the price. We spent a little over $50 for the equivalent of Happy Meal sized portions from McDonald’s. It’s not worth the trip

06/09/2023 I ordered the J's special mild $15, which is fries topped with diced chicken, mac and cheese, and ranch dressing. It was OK. The chicken was diced small. The mac and cheese was not baked and runny. The addition of the ranch on the mac and cheese made it even more runny. The mac and cheese was not cheesy and did not have any flavor. I gave it a try and probably won't be back. The fries was probably the best thing out of the concoction.

Everything was actually pretty good. I did an online order and that was probably my only take away from the establishment. They give you a time in which it will be ready. However I think it’s ready way before then and sitting for a minute for you to pick up. I said that because my bread was extremely wet and soggy from the condensation. I didn’t complain or request any money back. Just took it with a grain of salt. Like I said the food was good, the chicken was seasoned and perfect VERY tasty and well seasoned! I didn’t get any fries WHICH I wish I should’ve because the flavors look amazing. I’ll definitely be back.

I ordered the J's Special with garlic parmesan cheese fries. If you like spicy, but not hot, get the chicken level of medium. Each bite had AMAZING flavor! It was definitely worth the drive.

Google
The food was not good. The bread was stale on my sandwich and the chicken was of low quality. I also got the wings. To my surprise, they were decent. The staff is very friendly. They explained everything on the menu and were patient until I knew what I wanted to order. The restaurant is kept clean and is open late. I also got their cookie shake. The straw they gave was so thin and small I could barely drink it or even enjoy the drink. This restaurant needs some serious help and could use a consultant on the improvements it needs (food wise and serving wise. Like giving a thin straw on a shake. How ridiculous). There were some people there also eating. I over heard their conversation having the same complaints as me. I can’t recommend this place at all

Google
my first time trying this place was yesterday (4/29). i paid almost $40 for wings, chicken tenders, a small little thing of macaroni and fries. wings and tenders were huge so that was good. the flavor we got for the wings were BUFFALO and for some reason they tasted like mole (hispanic dish) never been to a place where they mess up BUFFALO WINGS. the tenders, i got them mild and they weren’t even a little bit spicy. definitely won’t be coming back and definitely don’t recommend. food is WAY TOO OVERPRICED to have NO FLAVOR.

Yelp
Pretty good food, I had the 3 piece tenders w/medium heat and Cajun seasoned fries. Wasn't overly impressed by the fries, however that's subjective to a person's individual taste. The service was good, order to go took maybe 5 minutes from order time to receiving the order. The restaurant is in a strip center/gas station and ok. Place was clean and employees were friendly. I will definitely eat food from here again.

Yelp
Ran up on this spot leaving the strip club about 11pm last night and OMG it's like heaven just answered a prayer. I had the Hot Catch The Fry Flight & my trainer had the Shroom & the (banana pudding OMFG) I know I'm skipping subject but that bp is orgasmic I swear. Ok now back to the hot catch. That fish sandwich goes crazzzzzzzzzy my vote for best fish sandwich EVER!!! I'm so serious too. Ok now this fry flight was so fire my favorite is ALL 3 the flavors are so unique but that garlic Parmesan is like crack smh and their ranch dressing is better than wingstop blows it out the water and yes let's argue I'd go as far to say they have the best ranch in Dfw and if you think I'm lying just go see for yourself and thank me later. Oh yeah you gonna wanna out they secret sauce on everything. It hit just as hard as the ranch. So they was closing at 12am when I first found them but one of the owners just told me they stay open til 4am so when I leave DGs tomorrow I'm up in this thang

Yelp
This place got recommended by a friend so I tried it out for lunch. Placed an online order and picked up within a very reasonable time. The location is by a gas station but not that hard to find. The food was definitely alright and nothing to rave about in my opinion. I got the medium spice sandwich but it didn't pack as much heat as I wanted compared to other places I've had. The pickles they have over there are house made and were good. More on the sweet side. Banana pudding was just not worth the price. It was so much smaller for how much I paid and too sweet for my liking :( I wouldn't go out of my way to grab food here. My friends enjoyed the J's special a lot but personally the chicken sandwich is a pass.

Yelp
We got in to town late and ordered for pick-up from S & J's since it was by our hotel and opened later than most places. It wasn't as good as what the reviews were saying. The chicken strips were a good size, but there was no flavor, as was the piece of Texas toast. The spicy was just hot with no other flavor. We ordered a milkshake for my son, but they ran out of milk.

Yelp
BEWARE this restaurant!! Went and bought some food then threw it in the trash so that yelp couldn't remove my comment again. I question how many reviews yelp has removed from individuals trying to warn others of the deceitful sales practices of this establishment. The owner is deceitful and falsely advertises his food challenge so that people will fail. This man has openly confessed that the peppers used are not as advertised, he could sincerely injure or kill a person using pepper x in place of Carolina reaper. The prizes advertised are a lie too. Avoid this restaurant!! Took one bite of the chicken I purchased and it was incredibly dry!

Yelp
First time here after wanting to try for so long. When I entered I noticed how clean it was. I loved that! I ordered and my food was ready shortly after. My fries were absolutely perfect. They were crisp to perfection on the outside but soft on the inside. I got the mild choice for my chicken and it was so delicious and moist. The sauce added to the overall flavor. I was extremely satisfied. The fried pickles were great. The perfect crunch. My husband ate his burger so quick, I am sure he loved it as well!! I'm so glad I finally got a chance to try their food, def coming again when I visit. Food is amazing! Employees are courteous and very helpful.

Yelp
S&Js is the spot better than the other chicken places honestly been coming to S&Js when he first open I mostly enjoy the original and the Nate fries but the best one is the S&Js Special A1 I really recommend this place if my baby mamma from Missouri loved it an my new girl first time tried it and loved it if they love it yall might love S&Js as well

Sereena J.

Yelp
I've come here twice for the hot chicken sandwich and have loved both times! I order it hot and my husband orders it mild and it's the perfect heat for the both of us. I order via the website to pick up in usually 25ish minutes and it's always ready when I get there. They don't use dairy in their coleslaw or comeback sauce, just mayo! There's an option to add cheese if you want for an extra charge, but otherwise there isn't dairy. They also have a spicy fried fish sandwich, chicken tender options, and lots of fries! I always get Cajun fries, but next time I want to get the fry sampler that has each type: Cajun, ranch, and garlic Parmesan. This isn't a place for huge groups because seating inside is just a few tables and some countertop seating, but I definitely recommend taking your food to go! There is parking right outside as it's right next to a big gas station.

Cleveland W.

Yelp
I don't generally leave reviews but I've been coming to this place consistently over the last year or so. I had my order already set into the app. When I pick it up I noticed it wasn't how I ordered it. It had asked politely if they could remove the sauce they put on because I can't eat it. They told me " we got problems of our own and that they won't change it. That's pretty bad business. I'll never come back again.

Haylee S.

Yelp
I've only come here super late at night and it's always been perfect because there's never been a line at these times. I always order Nate's Special which comes with chopped chicken, mac n cheese, fries, sauce, and seasoning all mixed together to eat with a fork because someone told me it was a secret menu item. I think it's fantastic ordered with a little spice. However, I wouldn't drive over an hour for this place alone like some other reviewers have mentioned. If you happen to pass by or live near and want to try it, highly recommend though for some quick, yummy junk food ;)

Yelp
This place is amazing. We came here two days ago and it was so good we had to come back. I was just craving the extra hot because last time I had the Hot and I needed a little bit more kick. I also have a high tolerance for hot. My husband talked me down a level so I had to redeem myself. WHen I come back I'm going for that "sign a waiver" type of hot. Wish me luck. We don't eat chicken so it's hard to find a Hot Chicken place that actually has other options. This place has a seafood (cod) and two vegan options which is a rarity these days. California is saturated with hot chicken spots but since I stopped eating chicken I have nowhere to go. I was surprised Texas even had one, as they love to smother everything in sauce. My husband and I both ordered the "hot catch" it was remarkable, even more so the second time around since I went for that extra hot kick. The fries were so good. I need to find out what on earth they put in their Cajun seasoning it's definently not Old Bay. Overall, 5 stars, everyone was nice and welcoming from the guy who took or Order I think his name was oxavier (I'm sure I Butchered his name) to the people responsible for making this amazing food. Quita and Mr. Bobby, After being their twice I feel like I know them. Please note only high top tables, if you have littles it's more of a pick up and go spot but you can always do a quick dine and dash. Just don't expect high chairs. Ohhhh I almost forgot "the pickles" they are soo amazing. It gives a nice balance of sweetness to balance out the spice. They are bread n butter pickles. They were so good my 2 year old wanted some. So now every-time we come I know he is ordering fries and pickles.

London R.

Yelp
The fried hot chicken sandwich had just the right crunch too it and was well seasoned. The kool aid was nice and sweet with out being over powering. I'll definitely be back. I liked the Cajun fries with a side of the house made ranch.

Cassandra R.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this place! It's THE BEST chicken sandwich I've had! I get The original on a brioche bun and I get it hot! Now you can't forget to order the ranch! The ranch brings everything together! Seriously obsessed!

Bjj T.

Yelp
The service was slow, I had to wait a few minutes until someone walked out from the back to place my order. They got my order wrong and argued with me when I said I asked for fries. The chicken was undercooked to boot

Havah S.

Yelp
This place has great signage. I was laughing pulling up at the originality of it all. The mural on the inside is great as well. And the stickers they give when you place your order. But the packaging and the signage is paid for with the food, because the lowest cost sandwich is $10. That doesn't mean that they aren't worth it, these sandwiches are definitely cravewothy. However I will caution you that they have spice in EVERY part of their sandwiches except the bread and to order down one heat level from what you are used to. They honey mustard has chili. The pickles are spicy. The batter has chili in it, and then more is put on after its fried. These sandwiches are not for the faint of heart. We tried the portabella mushroom, the fish, and the chicken sandwiches. I have to say that the portables mushroom is surprisingly good and worth coming for. So is the fish. Everything was made fresh with quality ingredients. The chicken was not dry. It is juicy and fried perfectly-- though quality control might be an issue if they aren't shaking the basket to get off the oil each time. These sandwiches are definitely quality and truly delicious. I met the owner and his wife. They are nice and their customer service is good. The mango iced tea is really really really delicious. I wish it was 2.50 instead of $4... but it's worth trying Also they need an option for kids on the menu. I knocked down a star because I'd like to see this get changed. Go get your spice on! Your mouth will be on fire in the best way! PS.. the staff do need to be wearing their masks properly.

Yelp
So I wanted to try someplace and something new today! So I opened my EatOkra app and this place was featured. I was not disappointed at all. First, the restaurant was CLEAN! The atmosphere and artwork on the walls were AMAZING (Reminds you of 80's graffiti). The food was FRESH! And the customer service was GREAT. Now, let's talk about this sandwich! So I wanted to try something new. I settled on the "The Hot Catch" which was fried Nashville Hot style. I settled on the Mild style since it was my first try here. It was topped with Cole Slaw and Pickles on a Brioche bun. Each bite tasted like the one before! Each bite still crunchy despite the cole slaw nestled on top. I could taste each flavor - the fish, the slaw, the pickles, the bun! I definitely will be back and back again!

Kaab A.

Yelp
Just heard about his new place opening up in the largest of Nashville hot chicken craze here in Dallas but I was especially exited for these guys because: 1) they're 5 minutes from me 2) halal is always a + in my book Anyways it's evident there was something lacking here in comparison to the other hot chicken places in my opinion I'd take Rickys or Lucius over these guys for now. I ordered the OG on brioche and was recommended the mac and cheese side The OG: was solid, I got it Hot and it was spicy for sure. My one issues is you see other places use the spice in the batter while these guys obvious did that and also sprinkled some on top of the final product. I believe this last step is what made the sandwich not as delicious as their competitors The macaroni: complete garbage. Not sure if because I got my food to go but it was genuinely 5 bites of Kraft macaroni with a couple cut up Jalapeño slices that I was robbed $3 for. Ultimately I may come here again as they are open later than most Dallas spots but if I have another not chicken option, right now I'm choosing the other guy

Yelp
I recently came to S&J, mostly because I was referred to the restaurant, it is located on a busy street next to a 24 hour gas station, which is great for them. When my friend and I walked in, we were both greeted and the guys were ready to take our order. My friend and I had a couple of questions about the menu, since we both had never been here before. Our questions were answered and we were given some good recommendations. My friend and I both had "The Original" (which is a fried chicken breast) on Texas toast, we each ordered fries. I had the "Ranch" fries and my friend had the "Cajun" fries. The cajun fries were better in flavor, in my opinion. I requested the sandwich on a "hot" heat level but the cashier asked me if I was sure, because it was really spicy...so my friend and I opted for the "medium" heat level. We brought the food back home because the dinning area is pretty small and it was starting to get busy. First bite of the sandwich was all batter...second bite was a little better, but I didn't find it spicy at all. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't to my liking. I think the restaurant should add a "wet" sauce to their sandwhiches. "The Original" was a dry rub.

Victor R.

Yelp
Lacks customer service. Cashier was condescending and unhelpful. When asking questions she would roll her eyes and look at you funny. Food was good but I will not be going back and can definitely see others doing the same simply because of the interaction with the cashier (female). However, if you can see past her attitude definitely a must try.

Pujan P.

Yelp
As a mostly plant based diet person, I enjoyed the shroom sandwich, the medium is savory! The bread pudding is a 4 generation old family recipe which will keep you speechless because one bite will require the next followed immediately after until the bowl is finished!

Alizae L.

Yelp
I LOVE spicy food so when I heard about this place it was a must try for me. The cashier told me to go one spice level below what I usually get at other places. So I got medium for my chicken (I got the j special, with a banana pudding). The food came out picture perfect! There was not one spot left unseasoned. It had a cajun taste too it. It was on the sweeter side for me. I ended up getting a side of their hot sauce because the medium wasn't spicy at all. The hot did have some heat to it tho! Another cool thing about this place is their Koolaid. I'm usually one to get water but they gave us a sample of the koolaid because it's different everyday. I believe in the one we had jt was pineapple, raspberry, and something else. It had a green tint but it was delicious! (Pretty sweet as well). Next time I want to try just the tenders or maybe even the chicken sandwich because it looks BOMB. Also I do recommend their banana pudding it is AMAZINGGG. I don't usually like banana pudding but it came with my meal so I tried it of course. The consistency was a lot fluffier than any that I've seen before, it was more of a whipped consistency. And the banana wasn't overpowering. It was really good!! Deff order it. Lastly, they hold a challenge when the owner is there! It's 3 tenders in their hottest spice along with a piece of toast. If you eat it under 7 minutes you get the money pool that day. I've heard it can go up to $1000 or more. Follow their Instagram to know more! Overall, if you're in the area you should check this place out!

Jasper S.

Yelp
S&J's is the latest to capitalize on the popular Nashville hot chicken craze that's hit DFW. Unlike their competitors that close 7-8 pm on the weekends, they have a niche of staying open late. As far as the food itself goes, it's pretty solid. The hot original sandwich I ordered hit just right, especially with the ranch and orange dipping sauces. The mac and cheese was nice and creamy, and the banana pudding was devoured in seconds. The fries flight wasn't my favorite (1 of the flavors was way too salty), but it was worth trying once. Unfortunately, they clearly have some kinks to work out. When I ordered I was given a wait time of 10-15 minutes, but it took about 25 minutes of waiting in the uncomfortably packed restaurant for my food to be ready. I did try to call them 3 separate times to order ahead of time, but no one ever picked up. When I did receive my order, they messed up the sandwich. I asked for it in Texas Toast but was given the bun instead. They also completely forgot an order of the Fries Flight, so I had to wait even longer for them to remake it. Now, regarding the whole COVID situation: I honestly did not feel comfortable here. A large part of the client base was not wearing masks at all. The space was so crowded that social distancing was impossible. Most of the staff had masks, but the dude behind the counter who was the owner/manager did not. The cashier did have a mask, but for some reason she kept taking it off every single time someone ordered. Most dangerously, I also noticed at least one chef in the kitchen had no mask. Overall, I would give them another try in the future. But not while the pandemic is still very much a threat: sorry, but I don't feel comfortable coming back anytime soon.

Isaiah O.

Yelp
I used to enjoy this establishment quite a bit, however upon my most recent visit i got food poisoning. I was throwing up all night, im not sure if it was because the food was undercooked, or if they are unsanitary, but i will not be eating here again!

Kamiel M.

Yelp
The chicken is absolutely amazing!!!! Get the J's Special with Kim's pudding and thank me later! The food is delicious! I can't wait to visit again!

Kacey C.

Yelp
only 1 star because there isn't a 0. your 3 chicken tender " ghost pepper challenge " is fake. joel hanson did this challenge and yall changed it to extact x . without telling him. what if he or anyone was allergic to that? you could have killed someone. and the shoes he was going to win, yall took those back as a joke. yall are a scam and dangerous. you should be sued and closed down.

hyphyjuice 5.

Yelp
Scammers!! Saw someone do the hot chicken challenge. The owner/manager lied about the winning prizes and the ingredients that were in the chicken itself. Wouldn't recommend!!!

Klaus W.

Yelp
This place is a joke. Worst thing I ever ate in my life. If I could give it zero stars I would. I got food poisoning and had diarrhea for 2 days. I didn't even get to finish the sandwich because it was that bad!

George D.

Yelp
Awesome Grab-Eat Spot!!! Love the vegan choices of sandwiches & the Lemonade/Koolaid drinks are off da chain!!! Big Bonus for me: All the Owners are super cool especially my man Javi *Eat them Hot azz chicken strips is you dare!!! Javi will pay you $150-$300.00 dollars if you can eat 3 Blazing Hot Chicken strips & a piece of toast. Good luck

Neomi L.

Yelp
Walking in I have to say this place needs life, place looked run down like if it was part of 06 harry Hines bazaar. I gotta say I'm disappointed I expected more from all the hype. But I left feeling ripped off. Food was not proportional to the price. I feel like this place has potential but I won't be returning. If y'all are looking for good banana pudding stick to Odoms BBQ gin west Dallas.

Jamahll W.

Yelp
I absolutely love it ! If your a foodie this is definitely an todo list experience go check it out don't just take my word for it ! ‼ #Foodporn

Meika J.

Yelp
Seasoned to the GODS!! Flavor is everywhere. One think I love is that everything is cooked hot and fresh. I will definitely be back soon. Ohhhhh! I almost forgot to mention, get you some koolaid and thank me later.

Jeremy P.

Yelp
This was some super food. I lucked out and found this place on Google by accident. Black owned and great service! We both got the Original with fries and a Kool-Aid. I haven't had Kool-Aid in years, but that was some good stuff! I couldn't finish my food because it's so much!! I had a spoonful of banana pudding and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT. If you want some hot chicken that's local and super yummy, come on down!

Samurai Z.

Yelp
Food was okay. Was extremely packed inside the restaurant. My friend bit into the chicken and I don't believe it was all the way unthawed before they cooked it. We didn't finish cause it wasn't the best. It was expensive for the meal I don't believe it was that fest. Wish I would've got a refund. Also I feel like the challenge is a sell out. He makes the chicken so hot u can't eat it. No person can eat that. Thumbs down. Never again.

Selenee J.

Yelp
not even 2 stars on this , really disappointed on the quality of the plate . we got the j special there was literally no chicken on mine my husband had a strand of hair on his definitely very disturbing to not continue eating this . this was our 2nd time coming here in hopes of a good meal but sadly we will no longer give our money to this trashy company .

Marcus S.

Yelp
They Instagram really had me fooled the food was not as advertised. Never returning. Definitely feel hustled.

Doug D.

Yelp
I came here because of how cool they look on Instagram, we got the hot fish sandwich, parmesan fries and the macaroni and chicken mix and I got a mango tea. It was around $42, which did feel pricey. The fries were just amazing and the food definitely looked good for pictures. The fish sandwich was very good but I expected spicer. It was a solid 4 experience.

QP J.

Yelp
Sad about this rating...I wanted it to be good...it just wasn't...the Pro is that food was fresh, hot and served fast...the Con - LACK of seasoning!! The chicken was bland and had rubbery texture...as if they fried while it was frozen. The seasoning on top did not help the flavor just hot on top of bland white meat! Perhaps, I caught them on a bad day...if I'm in the area...I'll give it another try.

Damian ..

Yelp
This place is over hyped and is not worth the wait . Got a 3 tender meal with a drink and have been waiting over 40 minutes . They work like they don't wanna be there ‍

Melanie C.

Yelp
Food was over hyped. Did not have any flavor what so ever, the fries were plain. The chicken was plain. I got my child popcorn chicken and it didn't have any flavor. Do not recommend this place. I didn't expect it to be like that. I got "the original" and medium heat.

Juliana W.

Yelp
I placed a $63 order today because I haven't been there in awhile since I live an hour away and decided to get their delicious chicken for my family. Unfortunately there were multiple hairs in my food!! That's extremely disgusting ... on top of that being gross, how far I traveled, and how much I spent is so upsetting. My husband has a sensitive stomach and sadly won't be back because of this.

Ashley H.

Yelp
One thing I was hoping to do was support more Black-owned businesses when I moved to Dallas. The food is good, the workers are friendly, and the owner is nice.

Neel G.

Yelp
I had the hot chicken sandwich on Texas toast and it was great! The chicken was tender and flavorful with just the right amount of kick. I will caution you. They are not joking when they say hot. Thankfully, the banana pudding helped temper the heat. My wife is vegetarian and she really enjoyed the vegetarian options here. Please do yourself a favor and check this place out!

Kelly N.

Yelp
phenomenal sando perfect spice. great team. a complete surprise. kudos to the team behind this joint

Deshia H.

Yelp
Honestly, we can keep it short and simple.... THE CHICKEN IS GOOD AS HELL... THE LOADED FRIES ARE A HIT TOO WITH THE RANCH!!!
So they was closing at 12am when I first found them but one of the owners just told me they stay open til 4am so when I leave pryme bar tomorrow I'm up in this thang

Yelp
THE BEST CHICKEN EVER. Mac and cheese is INCREDIBLE THE LEMONADE IS TO DIE FOR. And the banana pudding if you're lucky enough to get your hands on it is the best I've ever had. I recommend this place to anyone in the Dallas area.

Yelp
Looking for some "HOT CHICKEN" at a nice price? Come to S&Jesus Hot Chick to satisfy your needs. A little gem in the corner that is well worth trying. The prices are decent and you can dine in or to go. There is limited seating available. You can find it as it is next to Shell gas station. Limited parking available. There is a sink to wash your hands as well. They do offer a fried portobello mushroom sandwich and a fried vegan chicken. I suggest getting the hot unless you love sweating to get the extra hot and damn hot.. They make you sign a waiver for ordering the DAMN HOT chicken. They offer a promo card for getting a free entree after 10 purchases. Good for family and friends or eating solo. I will definitely come back again. The staff is very hospitable and professional. The Mac and cheese has small cuts of jalapeño in it. I enjoyed the fries and suggest Cajun or Ranch fries. ENJOY!!!
