Sandlot Opens a Second Outdoor Bar to Bring Black-Owned Food Businesses Into Georgetown - Eater DC

"Sandlot Georgetown is an outdoor shipping container bar located adjacent to the Four Seasons hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue NW. It provides resources for Black-owned food businesses and features a lineup of cold-pressed juice cocktails. The bar opens at 4 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and at noon on Saturdays and Sundays, with room for 120 outdoor seats. An UberEats sponsorship funds rent-free access to cooking facilities for a rotating group of Black-owned restaurants, catering businesses, and food trucks." - Gabe Hiatt

I’m so impressed with what the masterminds behind Sandlot have done with the former CVS space on Florida Ave—Sandlot Uptown is a complete transformation! What was once a vacant building is now a vibrant, thoughtfully designed indoor-outdoor venue that feels both modern and inviting. The indoor space is sleek and functional, ideal for hosting events or simply enjoying good company. Outside, the setup features benches, umbrellas, and a shipping container bar that adds an urban, creative touch. The graffiti murals give it an authentic D.C. vibe, tying the whole space together with local flair. And let’s talk about the bathrooms—they’re actually clean and well-maintained!! This space is a perfect example of revitalization done right. Can’t wait to see you there!

Great place to stop through for an outdoor drink with friends, grab some food from local food trucks and pop-up kitchens (rotating schedule), and chill out to some great music! Love that their mission is to give minority-owned food vendors a venue to reach the community. Felt like a block party.

Fan of the multiple Sandlot activations across the city, and happy to enjoy the Georgetown location as well. Great people, drinks, exciting food options, and overall vibe ✨ I especially love having a place to relax that isn't necessarily meant to shop but to gather

Just celebrated my birthday here! What a fantastic experience. We chose to make a reservation to ensure our small party would be guaranteed seating. The cold pressed juices/cocktails are soooo yummy!!! It’s in a great location. There was a DJ jamming. And a food truck with great food! The staff were great, the restrooms were great. Def a 5-star experience for a lovely afternoon!

Let me start off by saying that I really wanted to like this place. I went yesterday on the 31st of May based off of a post on Instagram. The post advertised that they would have two food trucks (jerk at nite and another one). They also said there would be two DJs. This was false, there was one food truck that was a Jamaican cuisine, and they only had one option. The bartenders were nice but they never made any comment of the advertised food truck’s absence. Also, the “drinks” were pre-mixed, “on the rocks” brand. You had the option to buy an extra shot of whatever to add to the pre-mixed beverage. For a 375ml bottle they were charging 45 dollars plus a 20% mandatory gratuity. Im actually not really upset about the price of the bottle, but 20 percent gratuity is definitely over the top. I’m not a cheap tipper by any means, but I felt like this was absolutely ridiculous to say the least. I can understand business tactics and all but I honestly feel that this was clearly another black owned business taking advantage of their own community.

Enjoyable time. Great concept for community involvement. The music, space, and great service by Jermaine (probably misspelling her name) provided a good vibe. Lighting mainly came from the street lights which was enough for ambience but some may want more. Some may also get sticker shock from the price of alcohol but I would say consider the price of doing business in a Georgetown location for a new tenant. And also consider the inspired alcohol collaborations they are offering.

Super fun and welcoming place in a great location! Really good vibes and friendly service. The cold pressed juice cocktails were delicious and we also enjoyed the availability of food trucks. Good shade and bathrooms which is more than other beer gardens have! Will definitely return!

Yelp
I love this spot. It's a very community oriente spot with local food entrepreneurs. They also host a lot of community events. An outdoor eatery where you wouldn't be surprised to see a local band or a flea market. I only knocked off a star because they ran out of water on a hot day. They'll probably earn that star back the next time om there.

Yelp
I've loved the Sandlot since it first started and am glad to see it expanding! I visited the Georgetown location, which I think has been open for about a year. The space is much larger than it looks when you're just driving by and we were glad to get a table large enough for our group. People were definitely vying for tables, but it didn't seem like the wait was too long. The drinks were pretty good, although sometimes I'm craving something they don't have. I ended up trying one of the cocktails with pressed juice. Per the usual, the music and service is great. I do hope they add more shading because DC summer is ridiculous. Also, parking can be tough since it's Georgetown. But overall, a nice outdoor, casual spot with good vibes.

Yelp
Came here on a sunny day felt like the start of summer weather lol. Me and my cousins stopped by on a calm Sunday after 4pm. The vibes was present, we had organic juices with whiskey I forgot the name but it was amazing. Just a good time, vibes and beautiful people & lots of dancing.

Yelp
Black owned business in Georgetown? Yes please. In a patch of land between the major streets that shepherd people intown Georgetown a tree covered gravel lot is transformed into a loungey gathering spot to sip a tipple and grab a nibble (please read that slowly). A small bar made from a shipping container caries a curated selection of premade (and very strong) cocktails along with fresh juices that can be mixed with your booze of choice or drank as-is. A rotating (but stationary) food truck closes early in the evenings but BYO food is always an option. Walk-ins are welcome, as well as dogs. Be prepared for inviting bar service (happy to walk you through their menu, favorites and suggestions) and a DJ always spinning something fun to drown-out the street noise as well as your stress from the week. Great after-dinner location but also a place to jump-off your weekend. It's location also optimizes street parking options since you are just at the cusp of G-town and not in the thick of the traffic yet. I had the bottled old fashioned for 2, which came in a little bottle and screw top (so cool I kept it and will use it again for camping trip pre-made cocktails). The drink was perfectly made and very potent! My friend had a pink-gin drink that was sweeter and she loved it. So glad the city is leaning-into these urban spaces for pop-ups and other human-centered experiences. Places to chill, outside, have become the premium during the pandemic, but even in the "after times", al fresco options will be the norm, and I'm here for it!!

Yelp
Saw this place on Tock and decided to book a reservation and give it a try. When you book, you are guaranteed an hour of seating time and two of their bottle juice cocktails per person. All we had to do was check in, get directed to our table and someone came to take our drink selections. There was also the Horace and Dickie's Food truck there and we grabbed a shrimp basket. Staff was super friendly and super attentive with getting our orders and clearing our trash. The outdoor space is in a great location and was perfect for the day since it was almost 80 degrees. Drinks were great! Not too strong but wasn't straight up juice. I got the purple and pink drinks and my girlfriend got the pink and purple. We even got complimentary cookies. I would love to come back and get another reservation on a nice day to try the other drink options and hopefully order more food!

Yelp
I attended a DMV Besties event this weekend, which was held at Sandlot Georgetown. I've been wanting to check out this space for a while and I'm glad this weekend brought me out here! Sandlot Georgetown is a fun spot on the edge of Georgetown. They have various food trucks + their own bar if you want to indulge in drinks. It's a great space to host a event or hangout with friends. My recommendation is getting one of their spiked juices!!

Yelp
Went to check out a vendor and it led us to Sandlot Georgetown. It was such a beautiful site with all of the diversity and likeminded desire to JUST CHILL. It reminded me of the many reasons I love DC! Thank you, Sandlot for coming to Georgetown! The food, vibe, people, music, and cold pressed (and strong) drinks gave me all the good feels! You are dope! Keep rockin out! ....eating my cookie now :) Also- check out @grubrockstar! Food is amaze! Ribs gave us life!!!!

Yelp
This spot is so fun and the drinks are AMAZING! The Purple is a must! But honestly, the best part, is that it's 100% dog friendly. My pup had a great time and even got his very own bag of dog treats to enjoy! The staff was wonderful! Highly recommend for a casual night out or drinks with friends.

Yelp
Welcome To Georgetown. This is the first outdoor spot with food and drinks, as soon as you cross the M St Bridge. The food trucks are always on point with service. The staff is welcoming and helpful. Premier. Elite. Awesome

Yelp
Perfect place for drinks on a Saturday! Vibes are so great you almost forget you're in the middle of Georgetown. It feels like you're on a beach somewhere! 10/10!

Yelp
The sandlot is the perfect summer vibe. The staff is friendly and the DJ was superb. Byron provided excellent customer service as we lounged over some drinks under the sun. Cheers!

Yelp
My friends and I made a reservation for Sandlot Georgetown for Sunday, June 13 at noon. When we arrived they were just setting up. There are large white picnic tables, a bar, and room for about two food trucks. The Takoma Station food truck was there on Sunday. Our prepaid reservation came with three 32oz bottles of cold pressed drinks or two 32oz cold pressed bottles and 1 on the rocks drink per person. It also came with packs of sugar cookies. You can just go up to the food truck and order food and they will bring it over to you. The drinks are really good. When you think of the cold pressed drinks, think morning green drink with some vodka, rum, whiskey or Tequila added to it. I was super excited to see the Takoma Station truck as their restaurant in Takoma Park, NW is a DC staple. So happy to see them pivot successfully during the pandemic. They are known for their wings, so we purchased three different flavors. My only disappointment was that I forgot to take pictures of the food and the space. The service was excellent and it was a great day to gather with friends. I do hope they get the umbrellas working soon as it is an open space and there is no shade. Other than that, everything was great. Oh, they also have restrooms in a container. There are three and it was clean. We will be back.
