I was around the area and I stopped by this place to grab a sandwich. By the time I stepped in the two employees welcomed me with a warm smile. I placed a to-go order of the turkey meatball sub. I waited for almost ten minutes while they were prepping my sandwich. The place was very clean and organized and my sandwich was delicious! Good job guys

Delicious sandwiches! Amazing service. First time visiting here but won’t be the last. My girlfriend and I went for the Chicken Pesto Burrata and Spicy Eggplant and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommended. Kudos to the team, especially Eric! Great guy! He honestly left such a great impression on us that we’ll come back.

I’ve gotten the vegan (Remy) sandwich from Sandwell three times, and on each occasion it was really good. (And a friend I was with raved about his sandwich.) They have a great touch and manage to get a lot in there — from roasted veggies to a cannellini spread. And after being laid out on freshly made bread of your choice, the sandwich is put through a slow conveyor belt pizza oven which gives it a nice toasty warmth. It’s more of a takeout spot than for dining in, though they do have a counter with chairs and in warm weather, outdoor seating. I found the pizza oven to be quite noisy, but that’s OK because I’m happy to take the sandwich to go for a picnic or bring it home, where I like to add additional ingredients like tofu, olives and avocado. (It would be nice if the vegan sandwich had a heartier serving of protein, but all the other sandwiches certainly do and the sandwiches themselves are quite ample in size.) There are not many other vegan options, though there is one vegan side of broccoli that looks nice. But for me, it’s all about the sandwiches. The sandwich is such a basic thing, you might think it’s easy to do, but to do it really well takes some skill and imagination, and Sandwell excels at both!

Don't hesitate just go and give it a try! This place is fantastic. Food is fresh and OH SO GOOD! They catered an event for our group and everything was delicious. The Mac and Cheese was creamy and spot on. Sandwiches were loaded with flavor. I loved the chicken pesto sandwich! And the oatmeal cookies are soft, chewy and wonderful! A great way to finish off a meal. Enjoy!

They make my favorite breakfast sandwich, The Sandy Special! Service is incredible, always with a smile, and they’re all so kind! I’ll have to make it for lunch some day!

Phenomenal sandwiches. Reasonable price. Chicken pesto burrata sandwich is excellent - perfectly balanced flavor between pesto, cheese, roasted peppers, chicken and soft, fluffy bread. Pesto is great just enough flavor to taste but not so much to overwhelm (not too salty).

Love this place for a quick bite to eat! The spicy shakshuka is delicious, and the coffee is solid. Great stop for a morning breakfast sandwich + coffee. Only downside is limited seating.

I got the chicken pesto burrata with multigrain and added truffle mushrooms! The sandwich is one of my favorites. The flavors of the truffle mixed with the pesto really balance out the sandwich. One fyi, the chicken is chicken breast cubed so it is a smidge dry but with the sauces and cheese and toppings, it adds a nice component and balance the sandwich. The multigrain is a sweeter type of bread but it really balanced out the pesto.

The chicken pesto sandwich was out of this world--perfectly grilled chicken with a generous spread of savory pesto that left me wanting more. The meatball sandwich was equally impressive, packed with flavorful meatballs and just the right amount of sauce. To complement the sandwiches, I tried the crispy broccoli, which was a surprising delight--crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, seasoned to perfection. I must commend Antonio, who provided excellent service with a smile. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor truly enhanced my visit. Overall, SANDWELL exceeded my expectations in both taste and service. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy delicious sandwiches and impeccable customer care. I can't wait to return and try more of their offerings!

I enjoyed the Green Goddess Caesar salad for lunch. It was a great balance of greens, protein (chicken). The cherry tomatoes were also a nice add. I'd recommend for a good lunch option to take out on a work day!

I've ordered from Sandwell 3 times now. My first visit was prompted by a craving for a turkey sandwich. I ordered the lunch box special. They did not skimp on the avocado mash or any ingredient really and the thick cut bacon is actually thick cut. Next I ordered the Sandy special for breakfast and the broccoli cheddar melt for lunch. Someone recommended the melt on my first visit. I figured I'd give it a try; it's not your typical sandwich. It was good but probably not something I'd order again. Recently I had the Morning Cobb. Of the two breakfast sandwiches this is my favorite. The blue cheese crisps are subtle, almost taste more like feta which I prefer. I finally got the multigrain bread. In my previous two orders despite asking for it I never got it. I think the sandwiches are well priced. I'm not sure where you can get a breakfast sandwich for 6 or 7 dollars. I spent $6 on a bagel with cream cheese this week! They also now offer a regular coffee for $1 with the purchase of a sandwich. All my sandwiches were to go. They have bar stools at the window or tables outside if you choose to dine there. When ordering it takes maybe 5-10 minutes for your order to be ready, a reasonable amount of time.

Ordered The Wild Bird since there weren't a lot of options that really caught my attention on the menu, but had to try it since it's a new spot in UWS. Nice looking sandwich shop, but that's about all I was excited about. My sandwich took at least 10-15 minutes for whatever reason. Overall sandwich was pretty bland and lacked any real notable flavor. I think the only reason it did have any flavor was from the hot sauce I had added to the sandwich. While the food descriptions sound great, the overall product was really mediocre and I didn't even bother with finishing the other half. Won't be a place I hit up for a sandwich in the future unfortunately.

Picked up two sandwiches a few weeks ago to enjoy in the park. Not only was everything fresh and tasty, but the staff were super nice and welcoming. Came back today for a MealPal order and again, the sandwich was made fresh and everyone working there was beyond nice. Definitely will be back.

I love the mushroom cheese steaks it's absolutely delicious and can eat it every day!

Two words: whipped burrata. This is modern day sandwich shop you've been looking for! We loved both of our sandwiches, which definitely felt healthier and lighter than your typical sub (even with the burrata). Spicy eggplant parm wasn't too spicy. Service was friendly and pretty quick. Don't sleep on the crispy cookies. We will be back!

Menu caught my eye walking past, couldn't decide at first but settled on a spicy eggplant parm sandwich. Bread was fresh, plenty of eggplant, good amount of arugula. Would definitely go back, there were a few sandwiches I wanted to try. Great stuff guys!

The staff were sooo nice! And the sandwich was reaalllly good. Their bread is very fresh. It's a regular spot with a few chairs to sit and eat and a few chairs outside too. It would be really cute in the warm months. I had the buffalo chicken and really enjoyed it despite the fact that I'm not a fan of celery so that says a lot. I will definitely go back to try other sandwiches. Not too pricey either for the UWS

I got the turkey meatball sub and I really enjoyed it. The quality was great and the size was huge for the price! I wasn't overly impressed with the flavor, but it was definitely good enough for me to want to go back. My sandwich was ready really quickly and the inside is very cute and clean. I think their mission for healthy-ish sandwiches holds true, as I did not feel gross after eating it. I would definitely recommend trying this place!

New go to sandwich spot. Always on point and will fix it if they mess up no questions asked.

Stopped by Sandwell on a Natural History Museum outing and could not have been more pleased! So many good options that appeal to everyone (I like decadent, my wife is gluten free, my kids like kid stuff). Amazing to find food that is super satisfying but also fresh and healthy. Also cannot beat the prices. 10 out of 10.

The mushroom cheese"steak" is one of the best sandwiches I have had in my life! The truffle and the cheese and the mushrooms and the beautiful crusty bread.... Do yourself a favor and stop at Sandwell. All of the sandwiches and salads are so good, it's reasonably priced, and both our little kid and big kid love it. We keep going back for more. The cookies, mac and cheese, and crunchy broccoli are so delicious. Highly recommend for eat in or take out. The food comes out very quickly and the tables outside are perfect for a weekend lunch after a morning at the museum.

This place is amazing!!! We came here after a morning in Central Park and Natural History Museum for a quick, easy lunch. Everything was so fresh and so delicious. My turkey meatball sandwich was heavenly, and my husband got an enormous, yummy Caesar salad. We got our daughter a kids meal which she happily devoured (a miracle in itself!). Love this place and will definitely go back!!!

A bright new spot with an enticing and varied menu, sandwiches served on perfectly toasted fresh bread. Our order was ready shortly after we placed it online, and we enjoyed both the eggplant and the turkey meatball subs. The mac & cheese as a side was a delicious treat. Highly recommend for a quick lunch!

Great sandwiches always start w great bread! Classic Semolina is amazing. And their sandwiches are both unique takes and very flavorful! I've had the buffalo chicken, the wild bird & the turkey meatball. Add in friendly and prompt service, a really easy to use app, and, for the UWS..., their prices are reasonable.

I really wanted to like this place, but feel like it's in a soft opening or beta mode. Love the option for personalization with an extensive list of add ons BUT my online pickup order came without the two add ons I paid for. :(. Food is ok, but doesn't really match the descriptions -- cheese steak is a pile of mushrooms with cheese; eggplant parm had whipped burrata instead of the traditional mozzarella - it's really more like an eggplant sandwich. The eggplant slices are cooked nicely, but have a bit of a floury coating which can seem gummy. Some suggestions, since they're new: 1) with all of the options available for ordering, it would be nice to be able to build a sandwich or salad from scratch rather than having to modify presets; 2) while I appreciate the veg sandwich options it would also be nice to see veg proteins, like tofu or seitan.

The chicken pesto burrata is delicious and the playlist is great! The staff was friendly.

Good sandwich, but the bread is so crumbly. When you order to stay in, they don't give you a tray to eat on and the crumbs go everywhere. This is a huge oversight. I even saw a staff member using a tray, which was rude because they should give it to customers.

Just had the Wildbird. Incredibly tasty. Fresh baked multigrain bread, grilled chicken. Great sauce. Looking forward to their continued success on the UWS

I love this place. It's so hard in this neighborhood to find just a really good sandwich. I've been here three times in as many weeks since they opened. I'm working my way through the sandwiches and I'm looking forward to it!

Solid sandwiches that didn't feel overly heavy, but were filling given the lack of a protein. We got the mushroom cheese"steak," broccoli cheddar melt, and green goddess caesar salad, all ordered for pickup using the website. Food was ready for us when we arrived, and the sandwiches were still fairly warm when we arrived home ~20 minutes later. Everything was fresh and tasty. Would definitely drop in again when looking for a not-too-heavy lunch on the UWS.
