Met up with my whiskey sister at this bar. She has been telling me about a place not in Manhattan that has a great selection of whiskey and offer flights. The bartender SAM was great in her selections and the food was good too. Definitely going back.

I enjoyed the vegetable paella which can be made vegan upon request. The warm blend of vegetables provided a good contrast and a variety of flavors. I would recommend complementing the dish with a side of sweet potato fries. Note for vegans: the sweet potato fries is cooked in the same oil as nonvegan foods.

We visited this place with a good friend on a Friday night. It was busy so the hostess asked us to wait for a couple of minutes so she could accommodate us. We ended up sitting in one of the couches on the right side as you enter the restaurant. Great choice. We handed over the menu right away. We chose a calamari plate as a starter and 2 main plates, chicken for my friend and pasta with meatballs for me. We also did a few drinks. The service was exceptional. Very attentive. My pasta was overcooked. It wasn’t al dente at all and I am a pasta lover. Meatballs were good. This is the only reason I’m giving 4 stars. Good place, good vibe overall. Good job guys :)

This is easily my favorite spot in Astoria, as both a bourbon lover and foodie. I have been here a few times (socially + for work) and everyone I have taken here has left incredibly impressed and constantly asks when we are returning. From the fish tacos to the incredibly large salad that we shared as an app (and still had leftovers from), you will not leave hungry. The cocktail list is one of the largest, and most creative I have seen and the single barrel bourbon options are nice to see (see photo). If you're looking for what is truly one of the best bars with great cuisine, I beg you to venture here. You won't regret it.

Went for brunch to celebrate friends birthday. Nice restaurant with bar. Pretty big. The food was amazing and so was the service. Would definitely go again.

I came for breakfast giving the staff every reason not to serve us well. I brought my 9 month old daughter and 3 year old nephew to enjoy a nice breakfast. This is some of the most incredible staff I have ever seen. I don’t believe I could have had better service if I were royalty. Thank you Miguel and Cheanne. The food was great, the atmosphere was very enjoyable, but the attentiveness and service of the staff made this one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The owner of this establishment should be extremely proud. I do not hesitate in saying this is one of the nicest casual restaurants in all of queens, possibly all of New York.

I had their brunch, service was great, as was atmosphere, decor and music. Fully stocked bar and a few screens. It wasn't crowded but kept a steady flow of people coming and going. Portions weren't that great neither was presentation, but taste was delightful. I would come back. Restroom was clean.

Sanford's is a fantastic spot whether you're meeting friends for brunch or enjoying a dinner date. For brunch, the steak and eggs is always a reliable choice, but I highly recommend trying the sweet chorizo hash, served in a mini skillet--it's absolutely delicious. For dinner, the raw oysters are incredibly fresh, and the lobster mac and cheese is simply unforgettable. Their burgers and PEI Mussels are always a solid option.

Wandering Astoria for a brunch spot & found Sanfords on the map. What an amazing surprise for a couple of visiting whiskey nerds. The Blood Oath & Old Fitz stuff at the host stand raised by brow. After seeing the bar from the restaurant side, we immediately bellied up. One of the best selections of whiskey, scotch, etc. that I've seen in the states. Smartly laid out by state, distillery, or region for scotch. Wine list was also impressive. Food was amazing, huge portions & something for everybody. On par with everything else was the wonderful bartender Sam, she was an absolute gem ! Next comes the happy hour specials & flight specials & fresh oysters ?!! One of our favorite establishments anywhere. Just classy, cool, smart & functional. The flight pictured is Michters. The Shenks was also on a $7 special solo. They also sell barrel picks. Thanks for a great day !

I order from Sanfords at least once a week but decided to stop by when I had a Friday afternoon off from work. The omelet was huge and so tasty. The service was also great and the entire restaurant was super clean. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a brunch, lunch or dinner spot!

Overall, this is an average restaurant where you can expect good food in a pleasant environment. It's a solid choice for brunch or dinner with friends. The service is decent, and the staff was particularly accommodating when they offered to store the bags of groceries we had with us in a separate room. This thoughtful gesture made our dining experience more comfortable, as well as for other customers. While nothing stood out as exceptional, it's a reliable spot for a casual meal.

The decor and ambiance is great. Staff is super friendly and attentive. But the food. Wow. I've never been so disappointed. The food tasted microwaved. As if they took frozen vegetables and cooked it. Nothing tasted fresh. I would return for maybe a drink and drinks only. Food. Maybe a burger. But don't go here expecting quality food although they charge as such.

5 stars every time!!!!!! My friends and I love this place. I live in DC, but I'm always at Sanfords when I come to the LIC. Their new HH menu is FANTASTIC, and the oysters are always so fresh. Go say hi to Ram and George!

This review is of their weekend brunch. I went with a friend last weekend to Sanfords to celebrate my friend's birthday. We made a reservation. The staff at the front greets you right away with a smile. I recommend making a res. There were some seats at the bar, but this place gets packed. Our server came over and would make weird comments or shrug when we asked a question about the menu. I thought it was his schtick and that he was only pretending to be annoyed. I wasn't offended. I love quirky people. The brunch options are great. I am gluten free and I could have several items on the menu. I got the corn beef with sweet potato skillet without the eggs. I asked for cheese on top. It was scrumptious. I wish the skillet cooked for longer but overall my food was 4 stars. It came with a side salad. You can make your own omelette, that's what my friend got and choose your ingredients. We paid $10 extra for 2 brunch cocktails which was a good value. My friend raved about the Bloody Mary. My Kir Royale was ok. Love that everyplace has kir royales now. Alright, so here's the reason for the 3 stars. We finished our food and paid. We had been there in total a little over an hour and less than and hour and 15 minutes. I asked my friend if she was ready to go but she was finishing up a story and then we needed to use the restroom. Also, our food was digesting. We weren't planning on staying much longer, but the server came over and said people were waiting for our table and to hurry up. It was super rude. I mentioned it to another staff member when I left, they said they would take care of it. I asked if there was a time limit or something and they said no. I don't think slightly over an hour is unreasonable. If I do decide to go back I will sip my drink very slowly so I don't get rushed out. I would be anxious about going back again. I hope it's an isolated incident. I wish I could take back my over 20% tip. I know servers have a rough job but there is no reason for rudeness. Also you never know what people are going through and literally felt just like a number. I didn't see them rush anyone else out so it felt personal.

We didn't make a reservation and walked in. The front host said it will be an hour wait and we left our information. Within 10 mins she called us back because they had seating. That's a huge difference from an hour wait to 10 mins. Forecasting is tough i guess. the food was not that good i was not a fan of my salmon lox eggs benedict it was not made good. the prime steak skillet was pretty good but loaded with oil and butter and was very dry as well i wont come back here the food was miss and drinks weren't good. there's plenty of better brunch spots in the area with better ambiance as well. C+ 6/10

I came here for brunch on a Sunday and was happy with the food and service! Food: great brunch spot! They have a menu with a ton of options from Mexican to French! I got the Truffle Fried Egg Ciabatta which was amazing! You could actually taste the truffle which I enjoyed and the Gruyère added a ton of flavor! We also got the cinnamon pecan French toast and it was very flavorful and extremely filling! Service: fast and attentive Ambience: I chose this place because of the ambience! It is holiday season and sanfords decorated both the inside and outside super well which made it so much fun! Price: the one catch here is that compared to other Astoria places, I found this spot expensive! The prices are comparable to manhattan prices!

The food was pretty good! I had a steak skillet with sweet potatoes subbing in. It wasn't too salty which is my issue with skillets usually. My eggs were perffffect! My boyfriend's burrito was apparently very good (he's picky). Nice ambiance except the music choice was like out of date top 40s and a little loud. So 4 stars for that. But came here on a Sunday morning and it was bustling, not too packed. Fairly spacious and clean bathrooms.

Amazing whiskey! Highlights include dusty Wild Turkey, EH Taylor Rye, and multiple acts of A Midwinter's Night Dram. Food - The quality is good but perhaps a bit expensive. Ambiance - The setting is very modern and upscale. Service - The bartenders are professional and knowledgeable on whiskey.

Pretty good food. Great service. They have a happy hour from 4-6 on weekdays which has $7 wine. It seems prices have really climbed recently, but the quality is always solid. The average spent here for one appetizer, shared entrees, a drink each, and shared dessert was $55 per person.

After walking by so many times I finally decided to eat here. We ordered the duck confit & waffles (no sides) and the chorizo egg wrap which came with a side of home fries. The food was hot and fresh, I had to wait a minute for the food to cool off a bit before devouring. The plantains were so tasty, soft in the middle and slightly crunchy on the edges. I didn't think the duck confit was crispy, was regular duck to me, portion size mediocre. The ambiance in the restaurant is chill and upbeat. There are diner booths on one side with a bar on the other. The booths are pretty comfortable to sit in - perfect for a date night or a catch up. The waiters are pretty attentive, service was wonderful. Refills on the coffee several times, and my request for hot water was quick.

Can't be beat. Wine list is crazy good, food is always consistent and can't be more welcoming. I love it here

The ambiance was festive with music and a nice big whisky bar in the back. We came here for brunch on Saturday and were lucky to have seating right away in a booth. Ordered the boozy brunch which came with two drinks. Expected the drink to make you boozy, think not! The glass was short and thin and filled with ice, therefore you technically had half a glass of booze. Def was not worth it. Truffle Mac and Cheese - you can smell the truffle in the pasta. They did not use macaroni, rather some hard thick shell pasta that stuck together. The mushrooms were good but the pasta was not cooked well. Gouda stuffed Duck Burger - This was actually on the dry side and a bit gamy. The burger was thick and dry even with the cheese - it didn't melt quite thoroughly inside the burger. Crispy Duck Confit and Waffles - It was two small pieces of "duck" which I think was chicken based off of the text and taste. The waffle wasn't as crispy as I liked it to be but it was not doughy. It came with two pieces of maduros (sweet plantain).

I went to Sunday brunch with some of my friends to Sanford's Astoria. We had a very pleasant time. The brunch menu had many options. Some of my friends are vegetarian and were able to find brunch foods easily.

Definitely recommend this place. This is a great whiskey bar so great to come here for drinks as well. I've come here for brunch prior and since then I recommended my sister to come here. She is absolutely in love with this place. Yesterday I came and I absolutely had to get the butternut squash ravioli since that's our favorite. I usually love avocado spring rolls, and this one was pretty darn good. I was shocked at how good the skirt steak sandwich was. I was worried it was not going to satisfy my taste buds, but it was super good and it came with fries. I got some Cajun aïoli on the side for my fries and that was a perfect pairing. The salad I'm usually in love with, but I think I just over ordered and forgot to request the grilled chicken. The chicken was a little dry for me, but that's usually not the case. Definitely recommend for a date night, dinner with friends or catch up over cocktails. I need to come back for their brunch since it's been a very long time but I know people enjoy this place for many reasons!

Birthday Tour! This year for my birthday I decided to cross off a few Yelp bookmarks. One brunch, one happy hour and 2 dinners. I kicked things off at Sandords Astoria for brunch! For a Thursday early afternoon the place was packed! As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. Love the vibe here.... Dim lighting, extensive whiskey walk, stunning light fixtures. Our waiter came over, made a few suggestions and took our order. Started off with a half dozen oysters. Served with all of the dressings, tasting as good as the presentation. For our meals I had the crispy duck confit & waffles (I've NEVER seen duck & waffles on a brunch menu before. GOOD JOB!!) and my BF had pancakes. That duck?! OMGGGGG.... I'm coming back just for it. Being that I was at a whiskey bar what better drink to order than a whiskey sour?! The waiter asked me a bunch of questions to narrow down the type of whiskey best for me. We went with a Smokey option which was sooooo good. They also served me a slice of cake with strawberries while my waiter & BF sang happy birthday. Sanford's has all of the vibes, paired with amazing food.

First time eating at this great local restaurant in Astoria. Food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. Nice and quiet and calm atmosphere.

Made a reservation here for a Friday night at 6:30pm. The location of the restaurant is super convenient, it's right next to the N and W train station and a bus stop. The dinner rush definitely starts after 6:30 since it got pretty crowded after that. We got the below dishes and the prices are definitely justified by the food portions! Everything tasted great and the service was great. There's a lot of seating as well so if you come in as a walk in you'll probably be able to get seated. It's definitely more so of a romantic intimate dinner type restaurant with dim lighting and upbeat music. Would definitely recommend coming here to check it out!

The food is usually pretty good and consistent. However, tonight I ordered for pickup, the Seamless app said it would be ready between 8:20-8:30 p.m. I got there at 8:20 p.m. and it wasn't ready, the hostess said 5-10 more minutes. I came back at 8:40 p.m. Food still wasn't ready, once again the hostess said 5 more minutes. As I wait in the front while everyone else's pick up orders and deliveries are going out. My food didn't appear until 9:15 p.m. I'm disappointed in the lack of honesty and empathy of me waiting much longer than it said. I would understand 15-20 minutes past the pickup time, but not nearly an hour.

Is Sanfords a diner? Is it a whisky bar? Is it everything everywhere all at once? Yeah, basically. I've known for a while that Sanfords is a great brunch and lunch spot. They've always been extremely accommodating, even when I've shown up with a whole stroller brigade. Don't sleep on their fish tacos. They are perfect. But, I recently stopped by for a drink and the bar staff could not be nicer. The vibe is super cool too. They know so much about all of their wines and spirits and take great care of you. A real neighborhood gem.

Delicious food Excellent customer service Up beat music Great ambiance I had the lobster ravioli the 1st time here a few months ago and even though I wanted to explore the menu I couldn't pass up on that taste again. It comes with a soup or salad. Can't go wrong with either one. The lobster is plump and juicy. Def not imitation. 100% worth the price.

Great whiskey selection and service. Menu for alcohol is extensive and lots of seating here. Right next to broadwag station in queens and a solid spot overall and would recommmend for whiskey drinkers

Big improvement. Since I was here last, Sanford's has turned itself from a diner to a comfy wine bar with food. I came here for breakfast and ordered a very decent breakfast with eggs and bacon. I particularly noticed the new ambiance in the dining area and seating for large groups. The food was good, though expensive. I will be back

My partner and I came here for brunch recently and were very excited to try the gouda stuffed duck burger - it sounded very unique versus other burgers we have had! Unfortunately, it missed the mark a bit for us as it was a bit dry and overseasoned. The gouda on the inside wasn't melted either. Fries were standard, and we appreciated the brunch special of 2 drinks for $10! Service was friendly and quick. Would consider coming back to try other menu items, but not rushing back for the gouda duck burger.

Came here for an impromptu brunch with a friend last weekend and mostly everything was *chefs kiss* We were told it was about a 20 min wait (which really meant 40 bc that's how long we were waiting) for a table for two so we decided to make our way to the bar. I'm not sure if they do take reservations but my advice would be to make one as this is a place that was super packed on the weekend. For my first cocktail, I got whichever drink on the menu had gin & was purple (I forgot the name) and my friend got the pa-pa-paloma. Both drinks were good and strong and almost made me forget the amount of time I was waiting. We finally got seated and to start, we opted to split the truffle mac and cheese. Now i'm v particular about my mac and cheese since most places are usually a hit or miss but this place 1000% hit it out of the park. The dish was so creamy and cheesy but still not too cheesy to where you're thinking about how it may affect your stomach later. The chef didn't shy away from the truffles with this one & the mushrooms in the mac was the perfect touch for me. For our entrees, we got the crispy chicken ranch wrap and the corn beef hash. My friend enjoyed her wrap but mentioned that it could've used more ranch. The corn beef hash was pretty good but I was expecting a larger portion. I was a little shocked to find out that It came with a side. Overall, I really liked the vibe of the place and can't wait to return to try out their other menu options! oh

We had a large group dine here recently. I have to say I was very impressed. The restaurant is beautiful, lighting gives a warm cozy modern vibe, the bar area is gorgeous. Their service was quick and efficient and they remembered everyone's dishes. Not one person in our group of twenty one was disappointed in their meal. We had a variety of options , fish tacos -superb, chicken parm- moist and well prepared, salmon , burgers , so many choices. Desert was pecan pie or molten lava cake - was delicious . Next time I visit the area I will be sure to come here -excellent value , well priced and deliciou

This place was just alright. The food was a bit underwhelming. We started off with the Ahi Tuna Salad which was mediocre. The Prime Short Rib Tacos were really good and the meat was very tender. I really wish I could have tried their popular burger (Gouda Stuffed Duck Burger) but it was sold out. We ordered the Black Truffle Burger instead and there wasn't much to it. I wanted to love the Braised Short Rib Cavatelli but it was salty. Apple pie was mid. Maybe it was an off day, who knows? Cool bar area and they had an extensive drink menu. Would definitely give this place another try but for brunch, not dinner.

Came in for brunch. Food was great! Loved the ambiance. The lighting made the setting romantic and the music matched the atmosphere very well. We ordered the Steak Skillet along with the Chorizo Skillet. The steak was well cooked and seasoned. It was served with hash, vegetables, and two eggs with the amount of steak outnumbering the other ingredients. The Chorizo was complimented with two well done eggs, an avocado spread, and a side salad. Overall it was a good meal for brunch and the service was excellent.

Came here for brunch as a group of 6. We made a reservation for 10:30am on a Saturday and the restaurant was around 60% filled by the time we got there so I highly recommend making a reservation before coming! We all got our own entrees and I got fish tacos for myself. The entrees were all decent in size and I liked my fish tacos a lot! The fish was very crispy and and the pico de gallo and the veggies on top added a lot of freshness to the tacos! I also took a bite of the duck burger that my boyfriend ordered and it was very tasty as well! The buns were very fluffy and the burger was very juicy! My boyfriend and I also did the boozy brunch special and we got two mimosas for only $10! The mimosa was kinda small but it's very reasonable with that price. Highly recommend this place! Most entrees ranged from $15-20 for brunch which I think it's a pretty good deal for NYC!

Came here on a Sunday night and there was no wait. Me and my date both ordered a burger medium rare, and both of us had our burgers cooked the way we liked it. We ordered a variety of drinks and then sat at the bar for a bit after we finished dining. The bartender was super friendly and made drinks we didn't know were off the online menu. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and would come back again.

This restaurant really needs to rethink its menu pricing. I can agree with other Yelpers that the price point on food does not match the quality. This is my first and last time ordering from this place. Food wasn't good and was extremely pricey. I placed my order via Uber Eats since I am not close to the restaurant and I am sure there is the usual app pricing inflation, but what I paid versus what I received was pretty ridiculous. I ordered the Prime Skirt Steak w Toasted Broccoli ($46) Whipped Idaho Potatoes ($7) Spring Rolls ($18) Butternut Squash Ravioli ($18) Bistro Burger ($18) Steak was rubbery and flavorless and did not have a nice sear. If I was in a mood to cook, I would have attempted to doctor it up after spending $46 on it, but I in fact was not in the mood to cook, thus my placing this take out order, so I just tossed it. 6 pitiful mini squares of ravioli that was also not great. Burger was the only decent thing and I felt the $18 price-point was fair. Mashed potatoes and broccoli were good but obviously side dishes that were meant to accompany the crappy steak. Restaurant is an easy pass and I won't be ordering again.

I've been back to dine in since my last experience and have to say service has gotten better. The food quality is consistent and the service is attentive. I'm happy to see that with dining in I get a whole different experience than I had previously. The ambiance is fancy, dark, & busy.

My brother and I were looking for some late night eats after a long drive from seeing a concert upstate. We both have been here before for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves so when we saw that they stopped serving food at 11:50 PM on a Wednesday, we were extremely happy! Came here about 10:30 PM and the place was very busy! We were greeted quickly and seated at a booth table which was so cozy. Nice ambiance, but a tad dark for our old eyes. Had to whip out my reading glasses to see the menu properly. We were given water immediately and they were prompt with the refills for our duration there. The drink menu is EXTENSIVE!! They have something for everyone. From detailed cocktails, red and white wines and a HUGE whiskey menu! I forgot the name of the cocktail I had but it was with rum, passion fruit juice and other ingredients. It was delicious. Speciality cocktails are $15 each. They food menu isn't elaborate but has many great options. We started off with the Fried Point Judith Calamari. Came with a fancy carved out lemon and the tastiest dipping sauce. I'm assuming it was a pesto/garlic aioli. Whatever it was, it was even better than dipping it in a marinara sauce. Perfectly cooked. No rubbery pieces and the breading was perfectly crunchy and seasoned. We dusted the whole plate off. For our entrées we both had the Braised Short Rib Cavatelli. Entrees come with an organic field green salad or chicken orzo soup. My brother had the soup and loved it. I chose the salad. For such a simple salad, it was so good. Raw red onion, greens and tomatoes that were marinated in a delicious green marinade. Again, I believe it was pesto/basil. The dressing came on the side and it was a creamy delicious balsamic. So good. The enteee came out piping hot in little cast iron skillets. This dish was one of the most incredible dishes my brother and I EVER had! Every ingredient was perfection. The beef was tender and plentiful. Hearty mushrooms. Fresh dollops of ricotta throughout. Perfect pearl onions and cavatelli. The sauce was mouthwatering. The only thing that struck me as odd were the sprouts on top. Kind of didn't go. Nonetheless, we also dusted this off at 11 at night. So good! The place is spotless, staff is friendly(especially our waiter who helped move the booth seat my brother was sitting on to retrieve his wedding band), food is amazing and the prices are decent. Couldn't ask for a better combo. Especially when the kitchen closes late! Such a plus. Can't wait to come back!

Great all around experience. Food was great, service was solid, they didn't rush us, and the menu has excellent options. Amazing appetizers, flavors were excellent and nothing was dull. Shrimp warplanes bacon, calamari, tuna tempura, and filet spring rolls were all excellent. For main courses we loved the duck burger, skirt steak sandwich, risotto, tuna, and the lamb shank special. Our server was very friendly and helpful. And to top it off they brought us a selection of excellent desserts on the house! Highly recommend and we will be back.

This is a very popular place for Sunday brunch. Don't bother calling to make your reservation because you will get put on hold indefinitely. Simply use the Yelp reservation feature and keep it moving. Try to get there before 12 because the wait line was ridiculous upon leaving. At 11:00 we walked in and was seated immediately. The food on their boozy brunch was varied with lots of options. Our waiter Luis was quick with taking our orders for food and drinks. We started with tempura ahi tuna and it was fantastic. Those little bite sizes were a mouth full. Everyone enjoyed their order but I must say the breakfast burrito with turkey was phenomenal. That's a must order for me next time. A little too loud for my dining companion tastes but I was not bothered. I recommend giving this spot a shot.

This place is great, very trendy and larger than expected. I took away 1 star because we had to wait a long time for our table even though we had a reservation and the hostesses weren't very friendly. Our waitress was great, food was good. We dined for brunch, lots of options and good mimosas. Add $10 for 2 brunch cocktails I had the Prime Skirt Steak Ciabatta which was cooked perfectly and I upgraded to truffle fries.

I've come to Sanfords twice for brunch now. The first time I came here, my friend and I got seated at the table right in front of the bar. It was very pretty as this is known as a whiskey bar. I did heard that they have many whiskey selections so if you are a fan of whiskey, definitely give it a try. We ordered two drinks: cocktail and rose and two plates: pulled pork egg benedicts and the waffle. I don't really see other places have pulled pork benedict so i decided to give it a try. I love the pulled pork egg benedict A LOT because of the sauce and the pork is very soft and not dry. It was my friend's birthday that day so we also got a free dessert from Sanfords! How lovely!! I went again recently on a Sunday with another group of friends and we ordered the fish tacos, bistro burgers and the normal egg benedict. The burgers were great. However, I did not like their normal egg benedict, not sure if its just today, the bread and the ham under the eggs are extra hard.

I live in the neighborhood and I been wanting to check this local spot out forever. I made reservations for Monday at noon and the place was fairly packed. I ordered the truffle mac and cheese, short rib tacos, and the Nutella s'mores pancakes. Everything was delicious. I would definitely recommend the truffle mac and cheese! I checked out the bar afterward and was impressed with their alcohol selection. Definitely a vast variety to choose from. The service was great & very hospitable. Would I come back? Yes

Went for brunch on a Sunday, the food, drinks and staff were great. Atmosphere could've been less loud and the music could've been better for brunch. I would visit again.

Sanford's is my go to for a dinner with friends or place to get cocktails. Their pasta dishes are my go to, and their drinks are fun and creative. They have such a big space and, with a reservation, can fit large groups of about 20 staff. On a regular weekday, it's easy to get a table for 2-6 pretty easily.
