Sangria & Salt - Review - Mission - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The old Cha Cha Cha is now Sangria & Salt, a Caribbean spot in the Mission with a wide-ranging menu of small plates. Expect jerk chicken, Creole paella, and ropa vieja next to patatas bravas and beer-battered onion rings, plus a lot more." - Julia Chen

Google
Great ambiance and delicious food. I realized the city doesn’t really have something comparable — a fun lively spot with sangria pitchers and great music, but isn’t geared towards 21-year-olds with its delicious elevated but approachable food, great cocktails, and beautiful interior. Love the booths! I highly recommend the Cajun Shrimp appetizer, which sits in a bed of zesty saucy goodness! I’m also really impressed with Ropa Vieja, Cajun Paella, sangria, and the quality of the service. I’d order all of it again and again. The frozen sangria was also great and not too sweet. Good for sitting at the bar, bringing a large group, or coming on a fun date night.

Google
We had a party for 20 at the new Sangria & Salt. Their service and food was exceptional! Owner and chef Jonathan took very good care of us. Everything was timed perfectly for our large group. The portions were perfect and the flavors were phenomenal! Gotta have the sangria too! We chugged it so quick we forgot to take a pic.

Tens across the board. I came for a post work bite today and sat at the bar. I ordered the Strawberry Smash, Jerk Chicken Tacos (Happy Hour menu exclusive) and the warm spinach salad. The cocktails are well balanced and flavorful. The strawberry Smash was made with Tito's - but the strawberry flavor was quite present and not cloying or "fake." The Jerk Chicken Tacos were tasty. Stuffed to the Max with tasty sweet and slight spicy chicken with a nice slaw on top. Came with three so perfect for sharing (or eat em all your self like I did). The Warm Chicken Salad was so balanced and fresh. The bacon tasted more bacony and the mushrooms added a nice earthiness. The spinach was just wilted enough by the warm dressing that it was a pleasant bite. Service is fairly casual and not rushed. The atmosphere is great - featuring a HUGE bar (with a new gold leafed mural), plenty of tables for parties large and small, and I even spied some private dining spaces in the back. It's very welcoming while still serving a very upscale vibe. I look forward to regular visits here for a quick after work snack and tipple. Keep up the good work Johnny and Team.

Had Sunday brunch with my friend here - bottomless mimosas are $25, with guava /mango nectar, or OJ. They were and delicious and the menu has so many options. We went with the Cajun shrimp and chilaquiles, both which had huge portions and delicious flavor. The hand painted walls and setup of the restaurant was beautiful and bright! Service was fast and super friendly, loved this spot!! The seating was comfy and we were able to sit next to each other in a booth setup, which I think they are calling the mezzanine, by the front windows. YUM

Google
This is just my experience. Went to brunch on a Saturday afternoon for a family members early birthday celebration. The place was not busy, about a handful of other people in there. I ordered the bottomless mimosas which you can switch between mimosas and sangria , the French toast and the chicken sausage. The mimosas and sangria were OK, average at best (5/10). The French toast was OK (6/10) and but the chicken sausage was pretty tasty (9/10). I could’ve had a second order of them. The owner/chef let us know that he hand presses the sausage which is awesome. Now I really like the ambience and the atmosphere in there. It was nice and intimate. The staff were friendly. My only complaint is that when I asked for a refill on my drink, it never came. I had to ask another couple times before getting it. I may go back to try a different food option.

Google
With outstanding quality and flavor, Sangria and Salt is a place that visitors and residents should take the time to visit. In every first bite of dishes I tried, I was amazed at the textures and spices as they unfolded. I can only describe it as feeling like that color scene of Remy in Ratatouille, I slowed down to just appreciate how rich and complex the taste of every dish was. For me, I felt like the flavor of the jerk chicken came in waves - there’s the initial burst, and then more spices hit you over time. I was already a huge fan of Johnnie’s first venture (Hot Johnnie’s in the Castro), and I’m so thrilled by this new chapter for him. I can’t recommend this place enough, and don’t worry about what menu item you should get - they’re all amazing.

Google
Sangria & Salt, you stole my heart. Everything about you was so delicious. I came for a birthday and oh my gosh… everything was soooo yummmmyyyy. The Sangria had chopped fruits that elevated it to another level. The platanos maduros, perfectly ripe and sweet, while the beans were seasoned perfectly. The patatas bravas were soft inside and perfectly crispy outside and paired with a delicious chipotle aioli and sour cream. The fish in the ceviche was soft. The guacamole was perfect. I had the ropa vieja parpadelle that blew me away. The sauce was unique, and the meat falls apart in your mouth, full of flavors. I wanted to eat half and take the rest home… it was so good I HAD to devour it then and there. The flan was also perfect, caramely, soft, and milky. 10/10 would recommend. Some things are a little pricey but they’re worth it.

Google
This place just opened up and they did an amazing job with everything. The bar and restaurant is awesome. They have TVs if you wanna watch a game. The food and the appetizers and tapas were amazing! Johnnie the owner knows what he’s doing. We’ll definitely come back. Service was amazing as well!

Yelp
I ordered a Cajun shrimp pasta and a paella . Both was DELICIOUS!!!!! Super recommended.

Yelp
Service is exceptional food quality and exceptional atmosphere is acceptable everything about this place is what a restaurant and bar should be

Yelp
We celebrated a special birthday at Salt and Sangria. The restaurant is a vibe! The food was delicious and the drinks were even better. Our server and bartender, Joanna, was friendly and attentive. She had great recommendations for a large group and we enjoyed everything, especially the wings and margaritas! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. My friends from elementary and middle school and I came here on a Saturday night in early November. Sangria & Salt occupies the space that cha-cha-cha used to be in. Wanna know one of the most amazing things about this new restaurant? They carried over a few of the old cha-cha-cha menu items and made it even better. The ambience is amazing. I love the way it's decorated and how they make the bar the main focus of the room. The artwork on the walls are beautiful. The music is amazing. Everything is such a vibe. We had the most wonderful time here. The drinks, food and everything was on point. The only thing I really think they need to work on, is their dessert menu. The desserts were good, but I think it could definitely be better. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend and the owner is incredibly friendly and the service was top notch.

Yelp
Wow what a beautiful elegant space, so well done in how it's decorated. date night? YES. Group hangout. Sure! cant go wrong with any occasion really. you can come casual, you can come dressy. i like that. there's a large bar with SO much seating in the middle of the restaurant. youll see it once you go in. the tables are on both sides of the bar, for larger groups like 2, 4, 6, more. food- -seafood fish ceviche - my favorite for the night! came with chips and lots of lemon juice -pappardelle -jerk chicken - very tasty, comes with rice to pour your sauce over happy hour everyday! 4-6pm

Yelp
I made no photos of the food. Quite possibly because I was so busy stuffing it in my face. From the starters (Yuca Frita fries and guacamole/chips) through the mains - Ropa Vieja (the rice dish, not the pasta), Cajun Shrimp Pappardelle, and the paella, it was all so very delicious. Seriously. Now I'm starving just thinking about it. In the heart of the legit Mission, two months old, young proprietor with his first restaurant (Hot Johnnies) in the Castro (and we will go, there is no doubt about that), wait staff and support all so friendly, prompt and attentive this has to be on your list of places to try soon. And after it will migrate off that list onto your list of places to return to again and again. Date night, casual gathering with friends after a circus, maybe even fine for solo dining with a book and your own bad self - Sangria and Salt gets it done. Go.

Yelp
We wanted late night eats spontaneously on a Friday night, and found that this place was open until midnight! It has a trendy, party vibe with really nice staff. The owner greeted us when we arrived and was super welcoming (and hooked us up with complimentary flan at the end! Thanks!) The creole paella was filled with seafood which was super tasty. And the Cajun shrimp appetizer hit the spot. My limonada drop cocktail was quite tasty as well. It's worth noting that the cocktails are on the sweeter side. The calamari and the lamb were okay. Could use a bit more flavor. I think, perhaps, the menu is trying to do too many things--to many types of cuisine--right now BUT they are new and I'm sure they'll figure that piece out with time based on what folks like. A fun spot with a lot of potential and great service!

Yelp
Amazing spot with speedy service! We went as a group of 5 so got to try a ton of dishes. Favorite was the Jerk Chicken and the Lechon Asado. The paella was more risotto like, so didn't have the crispy bottom I was used to. We also got the shishito peppers, the ceviche and the chicken wings!

Yelp
So we used to go here when it was Cha Cha Cha. The restaurant has been updated and it is very pretty. Love the bar in the center. The menu had good options. We got the sangria which was OK. I should have tried their other cocktails. But we got the shrimp, the ribs and ceviche. The shrimp was my favorite cause it was creamy and rich, shrimp was cooked well and the bread was great for scooping up the sauce. The ceviche was also good. The ribs were bigger than I thought they would be. We got 2 ribs and my husband's was tender and good but mine was dry and burnt. I couldn't even eat it. Overall the food was ok. Nothing that really stood out. The service was OK. He was really busy so I get it. The music was good.

Yelp
Cha Cha Cha 2.0 An SF institution, Cha Cha Cha has been around since I was running around in pampers, to my first drink of alkie, to break ups, and more. Speaking from experience, it's so lively and people are sangria happy that no one notices you ugly crying. Just sayin'. While the original location in The Haight is pretty much always poppin', The Mission location not so much, having closed and reopened several times since the pandemic. But, now there's a new owner who's changed things up, giving it a new name, updated menu, and facelift so I'm hopeful it will return to its pre-pandemic times. Soft opening in early September, Sangria & Salt is the owner of Hot Johnnie's Smokehouse (Castro). Open for takeout and indoor dining. Rezzies accepted on their website. M E N U Cuban-Puerto Rican. Classic Cha Cha Cha dishes like the ropa vieja, lechon asada, jerk chicken, chicken paillard, cajun shrimp, patatas bravas, etc. are still on the menu. The owner added some new menu items including twists to Cha Cha Cha classics like cajun shrimp pappardelle and items from his smokehouse resto like ribs. Full bar. - Happy Hour: Everyday from 3 pm - 6 pm and 9 pm - midnight. Discounted apps and drinks ($3-$12) - Weekend Brunch, 10 am - 3 pm...bottomless mimosas and sangra for $25 pp (90 minute limit). 4% SF mandate. F O O D We visited during the soft opening and took advantage of 33% off our food bill while the staff were training (ended 9/18/25). Regular prices noted below. * Mussels Sauté w/ white wine, garlic, butter, fish fumet, herb, tomato, chili flake, crostini ($19): https://tinyurl.com/y68rreut Soulful broth with tender mussels and grilled bread for sopping. * Hot Johnnie's Smokehouse Spare Ribs w/ sweet & spicy chili glaze ($18): https://tinyurl.com/2xmsk3kp Crispy bark and tender meat that easily pulled off the bone. Nice smoky flavor balanced by the sweet and spicy glaze. Served with arugula and slaw. * Yuca Frita w/ cajun spice blend, lemon garlic aioli ($9) Generous portion of hot and crunchy hand-cut yuca fries with a soft interior. Served with a creamy and zesty aioli. * Jerk Chicken & Rice w/ habanero spiced raisin garlic soy sauce, spicy cabbage salad ($19): https://tinyurl.com/32sfedm5 My go-to Cha Cha Cha dish, the bone-in marinated chicken thighs were flavorful and tender but could have been more fork tender. Served with a side of rice and refreshing slaw. * Cajun Shrimp Pappardelle w/ bacon, onion, mushroom, habanero cajun sauce ($26): https://tinyurl.com/3ew85zvk Those who know, know that Cha Cha Cha's cajun shrimp sauce is like crack. I've used an entire basket of sourdough to sop up that rich deliciousness so it makes sense that they turned this classic into a pasta dish. The wide, al dente pappardelle noodles nicely soaked up the rich, creamy sauce. Generous portion of tender shrimp and button mushrooms for a savory umami. If you like it hot, ask for a side of their house habanero sauce. S E R V I C E Friendly and attentive staff. After we were finished, I appreciated the owner sitting down with us and asking for feedback on all the dishes. A M B I A N C E Trendy updates to the old Cha Cha Cha space with new banquette, swivel bar stools, furnishings, and eye catching murals from a local artist. The horseshoe shaped bar is the heart of this resto and I'm glad they kept it. There's TVs for watching the game. Large dining area with a private room in the back. Ideal for large group gatherings. P A R K I N G Parking lot several doors down (look for the El Capitan Hotel sign) and Mission-Bartlett Garage is 3 blocks way. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Cha Cha Cha 2.0....Sangria & Salt. Will def be back to take advantage of those HH deals!

Yelp
It was my first time here and the food was delicious. The loco moco was a little heavy on the salt, but I'm sure it was a one off, as everything we ate was cooked perfectly. Our server was kind and attentive, as was the owner, he personally brought our plates and checked in with us. The ambiance was a little too loud ( music) we were trying to have a conversation, and it was a little challenging, but over all the vibe, food and service was great. I highly recommend this place. Also, before I forget, the guava mimosa was tasty but the frozen sangria I did not pass , perhaps the regular sangria would have been the better choice. I will be returning and recommending.

Yelp
Formally ChaChaCha, this American cuisine restaurant continues with the lively vibe featuring vegas style music, happy hour, and TVs to catch a game. Happy hour is at the bar only and requires a drink purchase but it doesn't have to be alcoholic. Happy hour until 7pm is great and lots of options though I did feel my sangria pour was a bit light. The menu is a bit all over the place in terms of cuisine so I had a hard time choosing. Everything we had was good, but honestly the drinks were the best part. Out of the food, the cajun shrimp pasta was the best and the coco mojito was my favorite of all. Service was amazing! The owner and executive chef sat us and it was great to hear first hand his take on the restaurant. He and the rest of the staff were friendly and checked on us regularly.

Yelp
Fancy ambience with kind service that checked in at appropriate intervals. 4/5 - chips. We thought it was a bit salty but the dish had good crunch and we could tell that the chips were fresh. Salsa was not too spicy 4.5/5 - wings were very flavorful with a generous portion of glaze. We could taste each of the ingredients listed on the menu 5/5 - calamari had a very generous portion and the sauces were delicious. Well seasoned and was not over or under fried. I appreciated having both versions of squid legs and rings

Yelp
Came by with my partner on a Friday evening, just in time for their happy hour (everyday from 4pm to 7pm)! We got a few things to munch on, such as: -Quesadilla and trio dip: It was just a simple cheese quesadilla, but surprisingly was very tasty. I think the cheese combo they used was what made it. - Jerk Chicken Tacos: Small street sized tacos with a slaw and jerk chicken. I liked that they didn't double up on the tortilla, but it still held its shape without breaking. The jerk chicken was a bit on the sweeter side for me and didn't really remind me of jerk chicken, but it was nice and juicy. Tasted even better when I added on the leftover salsa and guacamole from the quesadilla. - Ceviche de Pescado: Classic ceviche. I liked that it came with two types of tortilla chips (red was thinner and the brown ones were thicker). There was some spinach at the bottom of the bowl as a filler, which wasn't really appreciated but it got me to eat some greens. - Crab Cake: I enjoyed the crabcake but felt that the portion could've been a bit bigger for sure. The crab quality was good. Overall, I'd definitely be back for the happy hour deals again! The flavors were awesome!

Yelp
Fantastic spot. Great ambiance and delicious food. I realized the city doesn't really have something comparable -- a fun lively spot with sangria pitchers and great music, but isn't geared towards 21 year olds with its delicious food, great cocktails, and beautiful interior. I highly recommend the Cajun Shrimp appetizer, which sits in a bed of zesty saucy goodness! I'm also really impressed with Ropa Vieja, Cajun Paella, sangria, and the quality of the service. What a win. Good for sitting at the bar, bringing a large group, or coming on a fun date night.

Yelp
A Nostalgic Gem with a Fresh Twist! Walking into Sangria and Salt felt like stepping back into a cherished memory -- with a modern sparkle. For years, this spot (back when it was Cha Cha Cha) was my go-to place to laugh, share tapas, and sip sangria with my closest friends -- my "Unicorns of San Francisco." We practically had a standing reservation here twice a month! Now, under its new name and refreshed energy, I'm so happy to say the magic is still alive. The menu has evolved but still honors some of the beloved dishes from the old days -- a thoughtful nod to those of us who have been coming here for years. The food was delicious: flavorful, well-prepared, and perfectly portioned for sharing. The sangria (of course!) still hits all the right notes -- fruity, bright, and dangerously easy to drink. The atmosphere remains warm and inviting, with a touch of modern flair. It's the kind of place where conversations flow easily and time slips away. My friends and I felt right at home, and it was even more special when we met the owner Johnny-- a genuinely kind person who clearly cares about maintaining the spirit of the place while bringing in something new. Sangria and Salt isn't just a restaurant -- it's a continuation of a San Francisco story. Whether you're a longtime local or a first-time visitor, this spot is worth a visit (or two, or ten). Cheers to good food, great memories, and the next chapter of an SF favorite!

Yelp
Our first time at Sangria & Salt, it was good and we would return. Food: we started with the onion rings and ceviche, both were excellent, then we ordered the seafood fettuccine, it was under salted and just ok, the guava bbq chicken was tasty and something you don't see on menus, and the lechon was good also, but I've had better, it's too bad it doesn't have the crispy skin, the beans were very savory and seasoned right. We drank their red sangria and it was ok, I wanted more depth and sweetness for my taste, but overall ok. Service, from the hostess, who was welcoming and checked in on is during our meal, Mauricio our server was knowledgeable and expedited our order quickly to the other servers all kind and friendly. Ambiance: the restaurant is decorated very tasteful and it is clean, the seating is comfortable and the tables have room between each so you don't feel like you're sitting on your neighbor´s lap. I recommend this restaurant and will return with my family and friends.

Yelp
Let me preface this with my partner and I just had a baby in February this year and finally decided to have a date day/night. We started our date with sushi and then after decided to walk the Mission. We landed on here Sangria & Salt because it was the old Cha Cha Cha's. We were more inclined to try because of the happy hour. And let's say we were not disappointed. The vibes and servers were all amazing and the food was on point. Looking forward to coming here again for more celebrations.

Yelp
Spectacular food, ambiance, service and vibe! Sangria and Salt honors the Cha Cha Cha aura and space brilliantly! The food is simply delicious! Our group tried 4 or 5 dishes and everyone agreed that each was perfectly prepared and delicious! The fan favorites were the ribs and chicken wings! The Cajun shrimp in a delectable sauce was delicious as well. Cannot wait to return an I strongly recommend everyone visit Sangria And Salt!

Yelp
The place is gorgeous! Decoration it's a must. If you are a Sangria lover, Just order, iis absolutely delicious and refreshing.

Yelp
I was surprised when I realized this was the old Cha Cha Cha and that owner of Hot Johnnies in the Castro took over. The place has the same look and feel but brighter. I really enjoyed all of the food we tried. The paella was delicious and who can go wrong with potatoes bravas. Since it was still light outside we went with a pitcher of white sangria. Very refreshing but it could used a little more fruit. Overall definitely worth a visit if you're in the Mission.

Yelp
We had Saturday Brunch with the Guava Marscapone, caramelized French Toast and the Jerk Chicken Chilaquiles. I was worried the French Toast might be too sweet -- no such worry needed. This was a multi-layered flavor treat. The marscapone had just the right amount of gentle punch and the caramelized drip ran light ribbons of sweetness to counter the thick cut bread. The Jerk Chicken Chilaquiles however were the star of the show. A flavorful kick to start your morning and perfectly cooked eggs over the top. On top of it all, the space has such a groovy vibe. The beautiful half-wall, handpainted murals and gold leaf bar undercarriage sport tattoo like art that grabs the eye and moves it around the cavernous space with exposed brick. There's also a large event area in the back with its own vibe for private bookings. Don't let the empty brunch tables fool you, this swanky place, which has a busy night scene, recently had a soft opening for brunch, so best to enjoy it before the crowds find it.

Yelp
I want to gatekeep this place but I fear it's too late... Delicious happy hour menu! Also even regular price is reasonable I'd say. Frozen sangria with St. Germaine is so good! It has a hint of lychee. Quesadilla with sauce trio is really good too. Cheese is delicious. Overall food is flavorful and not too sweet which I love And their happy hour is every day! I'd be here every day if I lived close. Hope yall try the frozen Sangria!!!

Yelp
I cannot recommend this place enough. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. I ordered the plátanos and the mushrooms, and both dishes were absolutely phenomenal. The plátanos came with beans that were so flavorful and rich they completely blew me away. Hands down some of the best I've ever had. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly, with a depth that made every bite garlicky and amazing. The bar was just as impressive as the food. The cocktails are outstanding, and, true to the restaurant's name, the sangria is absolutely fantastic. On top of all that, the bartenders were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and clearly enjoy what they do.

Maria W.

Yelp
As a Bay Area native I grew up going to cha cha Chas and my dad worked as a bartender when it was mcCarthys! Sangria and salt really respected the history of the building and cha cha chas! They still have some of their most popular dishes on the menu and made them even better in my opinion! The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone and the Cajun shrimp (my favorite) was amazing per usual! I love what they did with the place and still kept the original bar in the middle of the restaurant but made it way more comfortable with new bar stools! Absolutely love it and can't wait to come back to try different things on the menu!

Yelp
I was really looking forward to trying this place as it was the successor to Cha Cha Cha. The jerk chicken was just okay. The Paella was good and flavorful. It was a Friday evening and it was very empty. The waitress was really nice and fast. I would maybe return again to try other dishes. The bill was around $220 for 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 7 alcoholic beverages.

Dee H.

Yelp
Nice swanky bar and restaurant. Great service and very accommodating to us. Craft cocktails were spot on and delish. The owner was personable and friendly. Food was delicious but nothing spectacular but cooked perfectly. Ribs, pasta, mushrooms, ceviche, etc. Recommend to all for date night or big parties. They have nice back room or small 2nd floor for private party.
google avatar

Yelp
Legit happy hour if you love sangria and tapas, I would dare say it's the best happy hour in the city right now, especially if you love ceviche. Came here for date night and will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Great addition to the Mission and open late! Service and food were 10/10.. the perfect spot for a large group!

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful. It's bright and colorful, and feels right at home in the mission's ever growing food scene. The menu covers a lot of ground from plantains to more traditional Spanish tapas. Overall I thought the food was good, but a bit pricey. I think for the price I was looking for a bit more flavor. Still I think it's a great spot worth checking out and would return to try some new items. Currently no need for reservations, you can walk right in. But it seems like a popular spot already so I could see that changing.

Yelp
I had an awesome time at Sangria and Salt. Great food and atmosphere. I loved the hand painted art mural wrap around the bar and perimeter of the bar restaurant. The sangria is the classic recipe from the previous restaurant, and it still slaps. I love that the team brought it along to the new restaurant experience. I am obsessed with the warm spinach salad. Great flavors -- I will be back for it again soon. I loved the dinner menu but they have great tables for larger groups, so my next visit will be brunch with friends. Mimosa and sangria bottomless brunch :) Bonus- the bar seats have backs! I love a good bar chair that isn't a lousy stool so I was thrilled with these comfy chairs. The staff was super friendly. Overall an amazing experience at Sangria and Salt.

Yelp
I was told that this place was still operating under their "soft" opening guidelines, but let me tell you that I would of never known that had I not been told. My experience was anything but soft. Food, service, and drinks were all amazing and the place was running like a very well oiled machine. We had a small group so we opted for a few Tapas for the table. Everything was good, but the wings and ribs were exceptional. I live in Texas and y'all know how Texans are about their BBQ. I would put the ribs at S&S at the top of my list of best ribs that I've ever had. I could tell that these ribs spent some time in a smoker. If you're going to use Sangria in your name you better have sangria that people will remember(or not). I had the traditional sangria as well as the sangria slushy and both were great. Sangria and Salt will be on my list to visit every time I'm in San Francisco.

Yelp
Such a fun lively restaurant for date night or even casually bar hoping around the neighborhood. Food was delicious and very reasonable for sf. Definitely will be back to try more items on the menu.

Yelp
We've been here twice, and had a slightly better experience the first time. Both times we did not order entrees, and we just had drinks and appetizers. The drinks were good and reasonably priced, and the owner (who is very friendly and charming) was making his rounds to check on tables and customers, which was a really nice touch. All of the staff members were quite friendly and welcoming, in fact. The only criticism I have was for the appetizers we had on the second visit. We had the ceviche and roasted potatoes from the starter menu, and both were pretty underwhelming in flavor. They don't taste bad, but it wasn't very impressive either. On our first visit, we ordered calamari that was some of the best I've had in a long time, which the owner had cooked and delivered to us himself. Very fresh with an excellent dipping sauce. All in all it's definitely worth trying out, but just keep in mind there may still be a few growing pains that new restaurants commonly face as they work with a new and unique menu. We look forward to a third visit soon!

Yelp
We had such an amazing experience at Sangria and Salt! Sangria was delish. Bartender Joanna was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our night special. She's a true mixologist- drinks were perfectly balanced! I also ordered a cha cha cha and the drink was delicious and super aesthetic! She has great energy and really made our night. We'll be back soon!

Yelp
Gorgeous space with friendly staff. The ropa vieja is a classic go-to, but there are loads of great options.

Yelp
This place was the old Cha Cha Cha on Mission. My wife and I have been coming to Cha Cha Cha for years and when the new business (Sangria And Salt) took over, we thought we'd give it a try and support local and new business. When we first arrived, we were immediately greeted by a female server, who was cheerful and friendly. As she went to the back to set up our table, another person, who I believe to be the owner, suddenly appeared from behind us, asking, "Can I help you?" He sounded annoyed and a bit sarcastic. We simply said we've been helped and tried to ignore his initial attitude. As we were being escorted to our table, there was another server who was somewhat in the way trying to seat other guests. The owner rudely told the employee, "Can you let them pass?" After being seated, we ordered a bunch of food that appears to be from the old Cha Cha Cha menu. The food was okay. The servers were amazing though - they were friendly, attentive, and professional. It's unfortunate that I have to write this negative review but the owner needs to significantly improve his attitude and his arrogance needs to go!!! It's disappointed with the owner and the food but I'm impressed with the servers/employees

Yelp
Sangria and Salt is Cha Cha Cha elevated. What a treat to come on a whim during it's soft opening. I had so many vivid flashbacks of times in my past in this place. It felt like I came back home after a long time away. But I also felt like I time traveled to the future because everything was reimagined. And the food! Dude. It was hellllllaaaaaa good. Glad I am meeting friends here in a few nights. Go now before you have to make reservations. I have a feeling, it will only be a matter of weeks before that happens. Chef Young is born and raised SF and an internationally renowned trained Chef. Have a taste and stay a while!

Yelp
Flavorful drinks and food open late into the night. Moreover, the owner is extraordinarily gracious and his care is evident in every aspect of the location, including the ambience, which is intimate yet comfortable. It was a memorable and delightful find in the Mission. I look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Loved this new restaurant! Fun atmosphere and worthy successor to cha cha cha. We got the sangria red which was incredible and three dishes: the ropa vieja (best) the shrimp papardele (also really great) and the jerk chicken (good but the others were better). Would 100% be back

Yelp
Finding a venue to help in the celebration of a loved one's birthday with friends is difficult. I am so happy to have heard about this new spot. Just waking in and seeing the enormity of the space is in itself impressive. My understanding is that the enhancements from a legendary establishment were well chosen and honoring. We were sat and immediately greeted with a welcoming server to which we ordered what would be a lovely pitcher of Margaritas! The table of 8 was mostly behaved given the birthday. The menu! Wow! We all had different dishes and quite honestly the sheer many options would challenge any kitchen! It's one thing to have delicious food that you are enjoying, but to also be staring at your table companion and wanting to taste what they are having is saying something. When asked, "Desert?" We couldn't resist! I think the birthday boy had a good time! I look forward to next time.

Yelp
Loved the vibe at Sangria & Salt! The atmosphere is fun, lively, and perfect for a night out. Joanna, our server/bartender, was super friendly and the service was quick -- our food came out fast and was delicious. I also noticed they have a private area upstairs and a space in the back for events -- looks like a great spot for holiday parties or a fun date night. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Wow! Just wow! Food - Incredible! Staff - Friendly and Attentive! Atmosphere - Gorgeous! Price point vs. portion size - more than fair! Our party of 8 shared multiple appetizers/tapas and I'm glad that everyone ordered a different entree so we all got to see a solid variety of the menu. Everything was delicious (with gorgeous presentation) Cannot wait to return and try the rest of the menu!
