"Star sushi chef Ryuichi Nakano opened up this Edmonds spot in 2019, and it quickly gained a loyal following. It’s now offering a wide variety of well-crafted rolls, nigiri, and sashimi for pickup through online preorders or onsite dining (both indoors and outdoors). Nagano also offers omakase nigiri and sashimi platters." - Harry Cheadle

"When Ryuichi Nakano left his long-time perch at neighborhood sushi restaurant Kisaku in Seattle’s Green Lake neighborhood, many of his regulars started willingly making the drive north to enjoy his food at SanKai. Fabulously fresh fish is available as sashimi or nigiri, and there are also plenty of interesting rolls along with Japanese and even Korean-style chirashi bowls. But the best way to experience SanKai is to get a coveted seat in front of chef Nakano and order omakase, allowing him to give you the best seasonal selection of fish." - Jay Friedman

"Star sushi chef Ryuichi Nakano — well-known in the Seattle area for Tangletown’s Kisaku — opened up this Edmonds spot downtown last fall. It’s now offering rolls, nigiri, and sashimi for pickup through online preorders. There’s to-go beer, sake, and wine available as well." - Eater Staff

"A new omakase spot on 4th Avenue North in Edmonds, San Kai — featuring renowned chef Ryuichi Nakano — opened this week with an extensive menu of nigiri, rolls, tempura dishes and three omakase experiences priced from $42 to $53 per person. The cozy, relaxed space seats around 30 and features natural wood accents; co-owner Shubert Ho says "It’ll be good for date night, but families are welcome too." After selling Kisaku last October, Nakano eyed Edmonds for his next project and partnered with Ho (whom he met through Nancy Leson) and Andrew Leckie, who have operated other well-received restaurants in the area." - Gabe Guarente
