The Best Restaurants in Little Havana | Eater Miami

"A modest Colombian restaurant inside a small shopping center right on Calle Ocho, Sanpocho serves up dishes like arepas, whole fried fish with generous portions of rice and beans, a Picada platter made with a mountain of various types of meat, potatoes, empanadas, and other Colombian appetizers that are perfect for sharing with a group." - Allison Ramirez

Sanpocho Restaurant Review - Little Havana - Miami - The Infatuation

"Sanpocho is a Colombian classic in Little Havana that almost always has a fairly busy dining room full of folks digging into bandeja paisa, a whole fried fish, or some kind of tasty soup. The long menu reads like a dictionary of Colombia dishes you’ll find sprinkled throughout Miami. It might not be the best Colombian food in Miami, but it’s solid. Plus, this is just one of those standbys that’s perfected giving a consistent experience to its regulars, and judging by the huge weekday lunch crowds, there are clearly many of them.  " - Ryan Pfeffer

Had an incredible late-night bite at San Pocho on Calle Ocho and it did not disappoint! (it never does!, been coming here for years). We walked in around 10 PM, just an hour before closing, and you’d think we were the first customers of the day with how fresh everything was. We ordered six empanadas, a sancocho de res, and a beef wrap off their late-night menu, and wow, every bite was amazing. The empanadas were crispy and perfectly seasoned, the sancocho was rich, comforting, and full of flavor, and the beef wrap was juicy and loaded with goodness. Even that close to closing, the staff was so welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The service was top-tier, the food came out hot and fresh, and the best part? The prices were super reasonable for the quality and portions we got. Highly recommend if you’re in Little Havana and craving authentic Colombian flavors, especially late at night. Will 100% be coming back!

After moving to the area, I was looking for a good place with good food that doesn't break the bank, San Pocho delivers. The service was spot on during the busy lunch hour. Most tables were taken in the big restaurant at about 2 in the afternoon on a weekday. Always a good sign. The clientele varied widely too. I ordered from the Daily Lunch specials and was very happy with my choice. The meal came with the main protein and three sides. The chicken was super moist and fell off the bone. Overall, this is a great choice for lunch and probably dinner. Can't wait to come back and try other items off the menu.

Really likes this place in the heart of Little Havana. Great service. The food was really good and super tasteful. The ambiance was on point. I felt like if I was in a small town in Colombia surrounded by typical local art and a desirable feeling of perfection. A must do place whenever you are in the area.

What can I say after not coming to this restaurant for a couple of years? Well ....que still continues with a great taste . The bad thing is that parking is difficult very limited. This time I found many things to eat like sweets brought from Colombia. 🇨🇴

The new bakery and pastries are amazing. Had breakfast at sanpocho and was able to try these amazing breads and desserts from their corner bakery. Wow. Amazing. Full of flavor and love.

Yelp
Colombian restaurants rarely disappoint, San Pocho has been a go-to in Little Havana for years. Inside they have a cute mini market with Colombian products, plenty of tables. One of the most remarkable things about San Pocho is the speed of the service. Our waiter was attentive, the food comes out FAST. Faster than any restaurant I've been to in Miami. The food is delicious, the only reason I didn't give them five stars is they overcooked the chicharron on my Bandeja Paisa. Great place, check them out.

Yelp
We're Colombian so we really know what we are talking about, the food was bad , service was good and there is no ambience at all.

Yelp
The owner is the most disrespectful and arrogant person I have ever had to deal with I can't believe her attitude. I work very close to many family and friends that eat there they won't anymore. As I was leaving today the same owner was trying to kill some insects from the bar area.Visitors be careful homeless outside lock your vehicles and don't go after dark.

Yelp
The moment I walked into this place is forgot that I was in miami. Wow it really looks like a bodega from another country. The food here was delicious too. I want to go back and try their sancocho.

Yelp
My friend and I arrived at this recommended Colombian restaurant, for lunch, the reviews were nice too. The ambiance is simple but organized, the restaurant is spacious and is also a Colombian grocery store. We were immediately seated, service was friendly and welcoming. I never had Colombian food. Due to this, I basically ordered a Colombian food sampler, called Plato Montañero. It came with three proteins, your bread (arepa), and three side dishes. Being in Miami, I had to order Cuban coffee with milk. The dish included a big Colombian beef steak (thin cut), Colombian sausage link, and Colombian fried pork belly. The side dishes were beans, rice and fried ripe plantains. The meats were nicely seasoned, the pork belly was nicely fried and the skin was crispy (pretty much like filipino lechón). The rice was nicely cooked, the beans had pork belly in them, so they were very tasty, to top this off, the dish had two small pieces of ripe fried plantain. Everything was tasty, really like it!

Yelp
The arrive was great with the waiter but after I asked to get avocado and I'll pay extra he went to get avocado and his manager refused him to give any avocado even when I offered to pay more. The server stated it was only for a particular dish and not others on menu and couldn't get avocado because the restaurant had limited but when I looked over the counter they had plenty of avocados. Asa Colombian I am instó eating different dishes with avocado and have since I was a kid and in many other Colombian restaurants. But never in my life ever been refused by the manager to no serve me avocado even after I kept offering I'll pay extra no matter the cost. I will no longer be a client to this establishment I felt it was rude and uncalled for. The food I had was ok but this was just not right at all. I usto be a loyal customer coming for yrs when I'm in the area. But after I was treated so rudely from the manager. And how he kept staring up n down. I will never come back . The food quality and service has gone down a lot and denying me avocado when they had plenty n was willing to pay was uncalled for. Last week they gave me dried up empanadas. And just so you know we Colombians do eat agodo in the morning ontop of the arepa or with scrambled eggs. I would rather go to other friendly Colombian restaurants and bakery then ever come across this one again There are better more quality friendly atmosphere Colombian restaurants in town. Best avoid them at all cost. Unless u wanted be treated like ur beneath them.

Yelp
This Colombian restaurant has a a very good sancocho ( beef soup). The chicken soup is very good also. The overall food experience has been outstanding. I am glad that little Havana still has some local places to dine without tourist vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
Always good service, free parking if you go at the right time. The food is Authentic homemade Colombian food. The soup is very good, the chicken and beef stew are also very good along with the sweet plantains. The rice is good but a little too salty. They give good portions at reasonable prices. They also have authentic Colombian desserts, figs with caramel! They also sell imported Colombian candy and other food items to go. We are regulars there for a reason.

Yelp
My place to go when homesick Food is bc consistently good and taste is close to home. Place si getting crowded and expect a short waiting time on busy hours. But the estar will accommodate as quick as possible. The staff is friendly and able to provide any extras you might need to make enjoyable your meals. Note this is a typical Colombian restaurant with unique decor, you can find treasures there, snacks, art crafts, little things to made you smile and remember Colombian charm.

Yelp
Terrible customer service and they do not adhere to the laws set forth by the ADA. The manager is arrogant and extremely rude.

Yelp
Very much a neighborhood restaurant but very good food. The place is clean and bright. The servers are attentive and quick. The food was very good the portions more than I could eat. My chicharrones was over cooked to a hard crisp but they made it right. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
The food is great whatever you order is good service not complain prices are fair no complains from me

Yelp
This is a interesting place ! This restaurant is right on Calle 8 in a little shopping center that is in need of some TLC . And as soon as you walk in you can tell that mostly Colombians eat here . The decor is very traditional and basic . As soon as I sat down they made sure to tell us that they were closing in a hour. So eat quick ‍ Ordered a Arepa & Green Plantains with Creole Sauce that was very good. And my Entree was something called the Montañero Platter that had Steak, egg, sausage avocado, white rice and beans The food was pretty good considering the price.

Yelp
This place deserves a 10/10!!! Wow this food was delicious and the price is definitely unbeatable !!! If you're in the mood for some Latin food, this is the place to come to. Service is always great and exceptional. Staff is always around and attentive. Started off with 2 empanadas de carne. Those things are amazing !!!!! Add some of the green sauce on the table and boom!!!!' Beat flavor ever. I ordered the baked chicken and wow !!! I wasn't expecting it to be this good. I ordered the pork grinds (chicharrón) and it was finger licking good. For dessert I ordered the tres leches. Ufffffff that was so good that I had to order two !! No lie ! I definitely recommend coming to this Colombian spot. You will not regret it.

Yelp
Best caldo de costilla on Sunday morning, tamales if Caldo is done... best Mondongo for lunch, or Sancocho if the Mondongo is done. Service is always good, servers are always attentive and ready to serve, and I always feel as if I am back home. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We had dinner at San Pocho on 2 occasions; one in September 2023 and the second time two weeks ago. The first time the food and the service were excellent. On our second visit the service was excellent but the food was below average. We always have empanadas as appetizers and the Bandeja Paisa. This time the beef empanadas were average in flavor. The Bandeja Paisa comes with chicharron which was not crisply. It was saggy. The arepas where not very good either. The rice and beans, chorizo and flank steak were good.

Yelp
We stopped in because we were hungry and were walking to a different location. We got seated and noticed place was busy. We were not sure what to get since we never really order food like this. We got calentado con huevo and a couple other items. The combination of the rice and beans was super good! Will definitely stop here again when I'm town.

Yelp
Listen when you have a few drinks on you and it's late at night on a Friday and you need some food because your stomach is growling what could you ask for than to find a "better" than fast food joint right next to the bar you walked out of. This place only cooks burgers, hot dogs and dies late at night and what else would you need at that time. Colombian burgers are know for their size and amount of toppings and options as well as the hot dogs. I usually have the burger with a fried egg or the loaded hot dog and these will hit the spot every time. This is not a fine dining experience but it will serve its purpose when everything else expect maybe Taco Bell or other fast food joints are open and you don't want to wait a long time at Dennys, just saying. Food comes out very fast, service is also fast and it's cheap so what's there to complain about?
google avatar

Yelp
google avatar

Irene M.

Yelp
This place hit the spot!! El jugo de mango was refreshing and natural. I was very satisfied by the beans, platanitos, rice & chicharron but i thought the carne asada fell a little flat. It was pretty thin and not as hot as it could have been. That being said, service was really attentive, friendly and fast!! All was made up by the coffee at the end!
google avatar

Pamela C.

Yelp
Being Colombian makes you enter Colombian restaurants with some high hopes. That being said, this Colombian restaurant was the 1st one I would go to again (: I enjoyed the service , the chorizo was so good , arepa was good too. I would love to try their other meals as well.

Yelp
This is the best breakfast after a night out and before a post breakfast nap! I always get calentado con carne arepa y arroz. 10/10 breakfast!!

Yelp
We were in the mood for something different so we decided to try Colombian food. For what we saw, the food was very typical. Choices included the usual Bandeja Paisa, arepas and other. The food we tried was flavorful. Our complaint is that we were rushed. We arrived there at 7 PM on Sunday. The advertised hours indicated they close at 9. By 8 they were locking the front door. The waiter told us that it was the best time because the food was already prepared, as if it were a buffet style. From ordering to service no more than 5 minutes passed. Do not expect to return.

Yvonne L.

Yelp
Big portions and fast service I was craving Colombian fare and this place hit the spot. I had empanaditas and a sancocho with all the trimmings. Delish. Well seasoned, nice and hot and no frizzle but yummy chunks of meat. My son had a steak and rice and beans and he couldn't finish it. Steak was big and falling off the place. Place is also a market. Simple, clean, parking in property Worth a try.
google avatar

Yelp
The cure to a hangover; their beef soup! They have tasty empanadas & pan de bono. Family owned business so its always a homie vibe in here. Its a tiny restaurant but the service is pretty efficient & attentive.
google avatar

Yelp
A little bit of a drive from Miami Beach but totally worth it. Atmosphere is causal and the prices are well with in reach. I had the Empanadas, chicharrón and pescado frito which was a red snapper. Empanadas were crunchy packed with meat. Chicharrón was everything I was looking for and they give you plenty of limes to cut the fatty goodness. The pescado frito plate is huge! The fish perfectly cooked, arroz coco sweet and savory and the tostones a perfect crunchy on the outside soft on the inside card to eat as you like. I also recommend you gets on of the fresh juices or Colombian beers. Services was spotty my waiter kept disappearing but overall a good experience.

Monica G.

Yelp
google avatar

German C.

Yelp
I always get the "roscon". A sweet bread with Arequipa- a type of caramel" or guava inside. I also get my buñuelos, and café con leche. Quick and easy ...and they have a whole bunch of Colombian sweets, candies, coffee and other stuff there

Ralf W.

Yelp
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to this place for a very long Time . Food is consistently good. Their sancocho has a lot of meat and it's very tasty. Beans are not the best but are decent. Empanadas are good

Yelp
Saturday morning adventure led us to little Havana. I wanted to have Colombian food, and after reading Yelp reviews on this place, I decided to give it a try. It's in a little shopping center so parking was a breeze. When you walk in its like a Colombian market where they sell authentic Colombian treats. We were greeted right away, and they said we could get a table anywhere we wanted. As soon as we sat down, the waitress came over, and we ordered natural fruit juices. I got the mango, and my husband got the passion fruit. I highly recommend ordering these natural juices; they were really delicious and fresh. My husband and I both ordered the Calentao con Carne huevos y cafe. Translates to steak and eggs with rice and beans.. You have to get this; it brings so much food and delicious food at that. We also ordered Pan de Bono, which is cheese bread, and they are devine. Give them a try you will thank me..
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent comfort food and feels very home style. Service was friendly and cheerful. Ask for their most popular dishes and choose what appeals to you. Don't think you can go wrong here. Priced right.

Juan U.

Yelp
Felicitaciones!

R K.

Yelp
First time here. I searched online for authentic Colombian cuisine and found this restaurant. I was in Miami for only a few hours. The food was amazingly good, affordable and our server was very polite. It's worth a trip if you can visit Little Havana.

Angela R.

Yelp
The bathroom smell horrible The food is good but is disgusting to even wash your hands in their bathroom This is a luck of care from the owners

Yelp
This place was so awesome! The bandeja paisa was very delicious. The atmosphere feels authentically Colombian and the staff were friendly as well. I would return to this restaurant again in the future.

Sean B.

Yelp
(Translated by Google) The food is delicious. Their taste is unique but unfortunately the service of the waiters is lacking. Food: 5/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 4/5

Yelp
This place had such fantastic food and quick, polite service. I ordered the Plato Montañero, which came with rice and beans, an arepa (served with a side of butter), plantaina, a fried egg, a fourth of an avocado, steak, chorizo, and fried pork belly---all for $15! Although I couldn't finish the entire meal, I left as happy as a clam. The arepa was thin, light, and soft and crunchy. The pork belly was crispy but not dry and had plenty of flavor, and the avocado was super fresh. Would definitely come back!

Ady S.

Yelp
the best colomobian food ever order the chorizo con arroz blaco y un jugo de mango en agua staff very friendly ambiance is so lively

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love coming here and we usually always get the same thing (he loves the bandeja paisa, a mix of rice, beans, steak, chicharron, avocado, plantains and egg) and I get their caldo de res (beef soup). +Tasty, homemade vibe +Good variety of Colombian food and drinks +Big portions +Cheap price +Fast service A go-to for a quick and authentic tasting Latin bite! In the heart of calle ocho.

Yelp
Colombian restaurant in a tiny shopping center right on 8th street. I love that it has its own parking lot (street parking on 8th is not fun). The place is bigger than it seems. I never have to wait for a table but I usually like to sit at the high top. The staff is nice, and I get to practice my Spanish with them! I came for the Bandeja Paisa, but I stayed for the chicharrones. I grew up Cuban, and i've never had a chicharron like this! Its part skin, part meat and part fat. The skin is crispy and easy to chew. I dont like breaking my teeth when I bite into these (most Cuban chicharrones are tough). The meat is surprisingly tender; it pretty much falls off. The portion of fat is not overwhelming and extra juicy! I can go on and on about these. At the affordable price of $4.50 (more than enough for 1 person), I take these home weekly. The Bandeja Paisa is delicious. Carne molida and 2 fried eggs is my version of this authentic dish. Never disappoints. Try the empanadas, they're made from corn and stuffed with red meat or chicken. Throw some of that spicy sauce on it and you've got yourself the perfect appetizer while you wait for your food. Wash the empanadas down with a pitcher of the Refajo. Its their signature Colombiana soda (red) and beer mixed together to create deliciousness.

Yelp

Yelp
First time trying this place. I really had high hopes since Colombian food is good in Miami. I gave this place multiple tries but I'm disappointed. First time I got the Tamal Tolimense which was good for the $7 price tag. Second time I went, I ordered two beef empanadas and a calentado. I tried to pay with a credit card since it was $5.89 and I don't carry cash but the guy claimed they had a $6 minimum. What a convenience. So I had to buy a third empanada since a tip doesn't "qualify". Now the third time sealed the deal. I ordered a bandeja Paisa with sausage. The meats are salty, steak undercooked and over seasoned, the rice tasted a day old and usually my fav meat, the chicharron was super dry and hard. Needless to say I won't be coming back. Time to find a new local Colombian place. Wish them success in the future.

Yelp
Very poor service! I just walk out of this place! I have been there many times for take out and today I wanted to sit down to have lunch and I ask to one of the servers where can I sit and he goes "you go to the table and move the chair and you sit" Like what is this ? I've been working in the industry for 6 years and I have never experienced something like this. Very disrespectful. I wish I knew the name of the guy (Colombian) Never coming back!!
