The Best Restaurants in Aspen, Colorado | Eater Denver

"Sant Ambroeus quietly skied into Aspen’s gilded dining scene earlier this year, bringing its famed Milanese trattoria to altitude. Tucked in a painstakingly restored 1889 edifice on Main Street, the trio of sleek venues — a dining room, lounge, and courtyard — was designed by the famed Giampiero Tagliaferri Studio. Executive chef Angelo Delle Donne has infused the familiar menu (additional locations include Manhattan, The Hamptons, and Palm Beach) with Colorado flair, including entrees exclusive to Aspen like Ossobuco alla Milanese with roasted Yukon Gold potatoes and Polenta Fegato e Funghi with locally foraged mushrooms. All of its iconic pasta dishes are, of course, available, from fettuccine alla bolognese to spaghetti al pomodoro e basilico to the paccheri rosa, which is a dream bowl of extra-wide rigatoni noodles, roasted cherry tomatoes, white wine, peperoncino, shallots, a touch of cream, and 24-month aged Parmigiano-Reggiano. Be sure to plan for an aperitivo or digestivo at Il Baretto, the brand’s first-ever cocktail lounge launched next door, where you’ll find a playful program focused on luxe nips to enjoy fireside with friends." - Katie Shapiro

What’s New in Aspen, Colorado for the Winter 2023/2024 Season | Vogue

"The Milan and New York eatery’s first Western outpost opened this summer. Designed by Giampiero Tagliaferri Studio, the space has a Milan-meets-mountains interior: Le Bambole sofas by Mario Bellini and chairs by Carlo Ratti sit among faux Mongolian and corduroy fabrics, while a bar is made of Verde Alpi marble. Order a piping hot latte after a long day on the slopes." - Elise Taylor

Google
My wife and I had an outstanding experience at Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar in Aspen. We got the avocado toast, focaccia mortadella, and cappuccino freddo—everything was top-notch, with incredible quality and taste. The atmosphere felt straight out of Europe, cool and laid-back, and the staff was friendly and on point. Awesome spot, we’ll be back!

Sant Ambroeus was pleasantly surprising. The crew is really warm. It has really comfortable seating and ambiance, not to mention the Breakfast Items and the Coffee is Amazing. If you’re in town grab a coffee and a panini herr. Absolutely worth it.

Cute bistro/coffee bar in the heart of Aspen. Perfect place to grab a outdoor table and enjoy a simple meal while enjoying a view of the beautiful mountains and quaint downtown area.

Love the Italian cafe experience in Aspen! Fantastic food, delicious coffee, and cozy atmosphere. Get the American toast. You won't regret it!

Google
The coffee bar is one of my favorites in aspen and I used to stop in every single day. That is until they removed the best ham and cheese croissant from their menu. Now they only have sugar sweet options and I believe this to be a huge mistake on the part of the food director. Bring back the ham and cheese croissant! You need the savory option and I can guarantee you loose business not having this item. I for one go elsewhere now in the morning and only come in occasionally as I love the incredible staff.

Google
A very cute cafe if you are looking for a nice coffee or a light lunch. The chicken sandwich I ordered was delicious and the bread so crispy!

Google
Nice not wow. Enjoyable time. Conveniently located. Would try it again to see if it could earn the last star.

Google
Peefect for an elevated morning coffe experience. On the more expensive end for coffee shops and cafés, but oh so worth it! I felt like I was in Milan. Wife was a fan as well!

Yelp
THIS IS WHAT ASPEN HAS BEEN WAITING FOR. we came here right when they opened. They were fairly new. I think they had opened maybe a month or two prior. Immediately upon walking in, the decorations and the layout of the café, took me to some thing you would see in New York, or LA., heck even London. Colorado is always lacking places that have the ambience. A lot of restaurants in Aspen try to go for a western rustic vibe; however, I think this café brings the right ambience for Aspen. It's chic, it's hip and fresh. The coffee is imported from Italy. The owner is Italian. He has put a lot of work into the place had a great conversation with him and learned a lot. All of the desserts are stunning to look at and super rich. The waiters and waitresses were still being trained, and they were doing a great job. The pastries were delectable, and warmed up if asked. The café even has cocktails that you can get making it an affordable brunch spot in Aspen. If you know how much brunch cost anywhere else in Aspen, then you know, this place is a steal.

Yelp
Lovely table service! Very upscale but great bang for your buck. I've gotten the Sant Ambroeus Benedict twice now and both times it was stellar. Every coffee item I've ordered is a high quality delight. This is my go to brunch/breakfast spot in Aspen.

Yelp
So it seems that Aspen's coffee bar scene is really strong. Some are much friendlier than others though. This is the 3rd coffee bar I've visited...and I think this is one of their newest? First of all, this Italian coffee bar had a posh, yet welcoming vibe, with a gorgeous color scheme. Also, they featured a food selection...not just tantalizing pastry items, but lunch menu. This time, I chose their Chai Latte...and their "Fan" pastries (these mini-sized, Palmier-like pastries). Well, all I can say is WOW to the Chai Latte AND the "Fan" pastry. The Latte art was just OK, but the taste was superb!! Here's the thing though. I found their service incredibly offputting...as in RUDE. From the moment I went to the cashier, this woman basically barked that I order at the table (which I found somewhat odd...given that this is a bakery-coffee bar??). I don't know, maybe it was just a cultural style...as she was near screaming at me to go order at the table in her thick, Italian accent. So I sat waiting...and waiting...and NO SERVICE. There was this aloof service girl walking back and forth the whole time, and she did not once ask me if I needed anything! Huh...HELLO?!? After several long minutes, I had to nearly wave down someone to get my order once I was at the table. Once I placed the initial order, everything came out fairly quickly...but then, when I placed an additional order of 2 "Fan" pastries, NOTHING. The waiter basically forgot or something?!? I had to flag down that service girl to see if my pastries were on the way...and she finally managed to bring my order to me. The waiter basically disappeared...so I guess he left his shift?? So yeah. The place, the food and the coffee were stellar. However, the service staff was terrible. Again, I will say that this was a stellar coffee bar...and this could easily have been 5 stars...but thanks to the lackluster service by the staff (the rude cashier, the rude service girl and the waiter's vanishing act), 4 stars is the best that I can do.

Yelp
The coffee is absolutely delicious! The staff wasn't very friendly. They didn't want to be bothered and made me feel like I was ruining their downtime with my order.

Yelp
Enjoyed the montecarlo and the tea biscuits very much. Nice ambience and nice seating indoors and out. They have a pretty extensive lunch menu, but I didn't get a chance to try it. I came back another day and got the much acclaimed chocolate flourless cake - this fell short of expectations - I didn't finish it.

Yelp
Service is sloooooooow. Don't go thinking you are going to have a quick bite. Plan on 1.5 hours at a minimum.

Vasant D.

Yelp
Horrible service and excessive wait time. Food was barely warm. Did not get my order "right" and was over one hour to have my order delivered to me. Server waited me to pay without looking a ticket and when questioned a detailed printed receipt I found he was going over charge me. The ambiance was over crowded and very noisy. Would not recommend this restaurant

Yelp
Noel was great and gave tips for hikes in the area and the most scenic way to Denver. Coffees were great.

Yelp
Awesome authentic Italian coffee shop! Service was top notch! Best coffee and pastries ever!!

Yelp
Such an amazing experience and ambiance. The cappuccinos and veggie panini were to die for!

Yelp
Wonderful in all aspects. Food Ambience Service What a welcome new addition to Aspen

Yelp
This was a hidden gem! The decoration was cute. We saw many locals hanging out there. We ordered the chicken salad sandwich (the one with chicken and celery) and it was AMAZING. It was one of the best sandwiches I had ever had. We did not try the dessert but will definitely try some next time!

Den H.

Yelp
A hidden gem. It was newly opened with only a few reviews. But the food was delicious

Chanelle N.

Yelp
Cute place! Really great service and amazing cappuccinos! Would come here for Apres ski or a light breakfast, beautiful ambiance and nice music. Would come back!

T W.

Yelp
Cappuccinos were perfect. Chocolate flourless cake was okay, average. We got 2 to go and they fixed them in a beautiful box and bag. Wish I would have picked a different dessert but think most people would like it. Looked like a nice place for lunch when the sun is shining. Not busy.
