Where To Eat Outside In Santa Barbara - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Santa Barbara Shellfish Co. was founded on the pier in 1980 as a place for local fishermen to sell their fresh catches. Slowly, they started taking the seafood being sold and turning it into clam chowder, crab cakes, and lobster pasta until it became a full-fledged restaurant. Our recommendation is to bypass their regular menu and go straight for the daily specials instead. Here you’ll be rewarded with the freshest seafood in Santa Barbara, with killer views on their patio to match." - brant cox

Take my Wife to visit Santa Barbara pier and we ate lunch @ Shellfish zc Company. They seated us outside pretty quickly for 2. It has a gorgeous view of the water. Recommend to bring a jacket. It is a little breezy. We order some local seafood bread bowl. It was perfect for 2. It has a little bit of everything from muscle, shrimp, scallop, crab, and claims. The sauce was perfect with the seafood and the bread. As for beer, we ordered the Santa Barbara Blonde. We both enjoy the atmosphere and the food came out pretty quickly. Definitely will be back. Here are some pictures. You can drive onto the pier. Free parking for the first 90 minutes.

The lobster roll was absolutely delicious—so fresh and flavorful, it felt like tasting the sea. The fried calamari, shrimp, oysters, and scallops were all cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty. To top it off, the stunning view of the sea and beach made the whole dining experience unforgettable

Google
The food was great but I wish I could get the whole crab 🦀 because I paid 80$ for it. The body was empty so I could only eat the legs. I’m Asian and we love the whole crab. It was delicious and had a sweetness in it. The 6 pieces of sea urchin and raw scallops were fine. The lobster taco was also delicious but not so much taste. With a little bit salt and sauce it became much better. Chris was fabulous and asked us many times if we needed anything. He also explained everything and we were happy to sit there. It was also very cold to sit outside. We paid 225$ in total

Google
Our friends highly recommended Shellfish Santa Barbara Company, and it definitely lived up to the hype! This place has some amazing seafood, including special treats like uni and box crab. We had a wonderful experience, enjoying delicious food with a fantastic backdrop of the boats, the beautiful Santa Barbara beach, and the mountains. Our server was also great, adding to the overall enjoyment. It's a must-visit if you're a seafood lover!

We ate here twice—once for lunch and once for dinner—and both times had excellent service from Fernanda, Fernando, and Morgan. We tried a variety of dishes and highly recommend the ceviche, clam chowder, blue crab, and oysters. Outdoor seating is lovely, especially along the railing with the great views. The check-in process involves writing your name on a sheet of paper, which works, but we noticed several people seemed confused by it. Be sure to specify your seating preference (e.g., “outside, railing”) when you sign in. Overall, we loved our experiences here and really appreciated the service and quality of the dishes. We hope to return!

Google
Santa Barbara Shellfish Company – Stearns Wharf Fresh seafood with unbeatable ocean and mountain views — sit outside if you can for the full pier experience. The September sun, breeze, sailboats, and even a dog paddleboarding with gymnast-level balance made it unforgettable. I skipped the lobster roll and went with the lobster pasta on the staff’s recommendation, and it was easily one of the best seafood pastas I’ve ever had. Generous lobster chunks, buttery linguine with a citrusy kick, and sourdough bread to mop it all up. The onion rings were big, crispy, and came with a tangy horseradish dip. Around us, other diners were digging into bread bowls, coconut shrimp, clams, oysters, and even uni (sea urchin) — so there’s plenty to explore if you come with a group and want to share. Prices are what you’d expect for a tourist spot, but reasonable for the quality, freshness, and location. Don’t miss the lobster pasta — 5/5 stars.

Google
We added this to our list of places to visit in Santa Barbara because of the already extensive reviews available. It did not disappoint! We walked Stearns Wharf and it was such a nice day out it was worth the trek. Driving and parking on the wharf seemed stressful to us but there were visitors managing it. There is a dine-in restaurant option but when we saw there were outdoor pick-up counters, we opted for the outdoor route. There was a bit of a wait when we were there for a late lunch but the wait time allowed us to split up to grab a seat too. We would highly recommend the "Fried Calamari, Oysters, Shrimp, and Scallops" plate - delicious variety!!

Google
This place is a gem right on the pier. You can’t beat the setting—ocean views, the sound of the waves, and the smell of the grill in the air. It’s casual, but the food is anything but ordinary. I had the cioppino, and everything was cooked perfectly— well-seasoned, and full of flavor. The lobster roll was another standout: buttery, generous on the lobster, and hit the spot. Service was quick and friendly. It’s the kind of place where the quality speaks for itself—no frills, just really solid seafood done right. Perfect spot for a laid-back lunch or sunset dinner with views.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant at the seashore where you can have a stunning ocean view and mouth watering live seafood. Moreover, I'd like to say that Emma is a fabulous server that I've never seen before because she is super nice, thoughtful and professional. She can always tell what you need and provides considerate services. I strongly recommend this place and Emma is the best!

Yelp
came to the pier after getting married at the courthouse... we both had a craving for some seafood and wow! this place crossed our path at the perfect moment! we went all out with cioppino, lobster pasta, onion rings and some clam chowder. the cioppino was to die for, it had the heartiest mix of shellfish-- lots of clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops! and a whole crab claw! the bread was wonderfully plush and soaked in the loveliest spicy tomato broth. the lobster pasta was perfectly tangy and buttery, not a cream based sauce as far as we know, smothered in lemon and covered in parmesan it was an astounding 10/10. onion rings were solid, HUGE, and the breading was nice and crunchy. clam chowder was served with oyster crackers (my favorite!) and was beautifully peppery. amazing service and experience here right by a gorgeous view of the ocean from their outside seating. we will absolutely be back!

Yelp
Santa Barbara Shellfish Company is a solid go-to for fresh seafood, located right on the pier with great ocean views. The customer service is always incredible--the staff are friendly, helpful, and make sure you're taken care of. There's usually a line, but it moves quickly, so the wait isn't bad. I've been here a few times, on this visit, I ordered the box crab, lobster roll, and scallop + uni sashimi. The box crab was the standout for me--I'd never had it before, and it's probably my new favorite type of crab. Sweet, delicate and full of flavor. The baked claims were incredible, perfectly cooked with breadcrumbs + garlic. The scallop + uni sashimi was also delicious--the scallop was firm and fresh, and the uni was buttery and rich, a perfect combo. The only miss for me was the lobster roll--it had a bit too much mayo for my taste, which overpowered the lobster. Overall, if you're in Santa Barbara and craving fresh seafood with great service, Shellfish Company is absolutely worth the stop.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for a bite before the 4th of July firework show on West Beach! We ordered 2 clam chowder bread bowls and an order of the shrimp and scallop pasta from their take out window, located to the left of the main entrance! The chowder was excellent and definitely a great deal. For about $13 you get a packed bowl of soup and an entire bread load for your bowl! We were both able to refill our bread bowls 3 times with the soup we got. The flavor was excellent and the chowder was filled with clams. They did not skimp on ingredients. Very fresh! The shrimp and scallop pasta was also really good, but the chowder totally ruled the show. We both preferred the shrimp in this pasta. The dish is sautéed with onions, tomatoes, garlic, white wine, and loads of butter, so of course the flavor couldn't miss. The main reason I am giving this spot a 4 rather than a 5 was because this portion was honestly pretty small. For $27 you get a small portion of pasta with a few pieces of each protein. I also found the scallops to be a tiny bit underwhelming. They aren't the largest scallops, their size is between a bay and sea scallop. I myself am a scallop lover, so I am a bit more picky when it comes to them. Overall though, everything was cooked well, nothing overcooked, so still satisfying! The Santa Barbara Shellfish Company is definitely one of the better options to get on Stearns Wharf. Usually in fun locations as such, food can be a disappointment, but this place hit the spot!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I always pick this place as a spot to get lunch. It's always the best portions for the price. We did not like the oysters, so we ask if we could switch it up to something else, he said they will doubled up on everything else. Which was really nice in my opinion. It came with a coleslaw, good coleslaw either. And the clam chowder was really good too! We got the one with the bread bowl, my boyfriend loves the sourdough. The soup though, it has a lot of clams in it, they did not skimped out at all. Very good! Will always be back here.

Yelp
Happened upon this spot while walking Stearn's Wharf a few weeks ago. Take-out was easy, order through an exterior window, wait about 5 minutes and you're off. The Lobster Roll - 4 1/2 stars. I had asked if they could remove the capers from the lobster roll but was informed it was premade and could not be removed. This roll was served cold on a delicious brioche like bread and definitely hit the spot. It was served with 2 warm onion rings for garnish, they were delicious -- I would have ordered a full order if I knew how good they were. This came with a side of Cole slaw that was on the creamier side and quite good, a solid 4 1/2 stars for that as well. Interior seemed very casual and cozy, would definitely dine here if back in this part of Santa Barbara. This spot has such a charm to it!

Yelp
Casual, no-fuss spot on the pier with fantastic seafood options. The live uni was buttery, not fishy, and served on a scallop and lime. The crab was one of the best I've had, it didn't really need seasoning because the pure flavor was perfect as-is. The shrimp and scallops pasta was very simple and flavor was good, but wouldn't be something I'd get again. We waited around half an hour, and our server was very quick and friendly. They have overhead heaters if you sit outside but there are indoor seating options as well. Parking is easy on the pier's parking lot, I believe it's free for 90 minutes. If I come back to visit the area, I would definitely come back just for the crab and uni!

Yelp
Was a fun experience dining here-- it is all the way at the end of the Pier. We got the: Oyster - very fresh, they didn't tell me what region the oyster was from though if that matters to you. Was good with the sauce and lemons though. Clam Chowder Bowl: Very thick but had a lack of potatoes and clams within. Calamari, Oysters and Onion Rings: Loved this dish, the calamari sauce in particular. The batter was very flaky however and fell off when dipped in the tartar sauce. Clam Linguini: Very very salty and buttery. I felt it was too buttery at many times. I needed to keep drinking water while eating this as it was really good but salty, and there were no refills offered. Moderate on the Parmesan is my rec as it makes it so much fattier. Staff seemed nice but very tired. A lot of canaries in the background making it a bit so intimate setting. The view in the wharf was nice while eating. Overall, $128 after TT and it was a filling meal. Would come back as it was very delicious.

Yelp
Great spot on the pier. The service was really good as well. Seafood was fresh and my favorite was the hand-breaded coconut shrimp! The clams were pretty awesome as well! This is a great spot albeit a little windy.

Yelp
I came up to Santa Barbara with my wife for a weekend getaway and to do some fishing and our first night here we decided we really wanted seafood and the Santa Barbara to fish company was the ticket for one reason...uni. I absolutely love uni and often judge sushi places by how fresh theirs tastes. After having it here it will be hard to top. They have a tank of sea urchin so it is always fresh and it was to die for. They were it over a raw scallop which sat atop a lime wedge with their own ponzu on the side. We also sampled their garlic Parmesan baked clams which were super tasty, we also sampled their coconut shrimp which was really good. For the main course I had the rock crab which was steamed and served with onion rings, cocktail sauce and drawn butter, the crab was super fresh and delicious as they had them live as well. My wife had the shrimp scampi which was really good but a little heavy on the wine. The service was excellent and the only downside is the best seating is outside and it was pretty windy. Overall I would definitely come back just for the uni alone. As far as ambiance it is I'm at the end of the wharf in Santa Barbara and very much a seafood shack vibe with open air seating.

Yelp
Amazing seafood restaurant at the end of the pier with plenty of parking. We arrived around 7 on Sunday with a short wait. There's a sign up sheet by the front and they'll call for you, so make sure you're waiting nearby. They offer counter seating, indoor seating, and outdoor deck seating. For the two of us, we ordered the Clam Linguini, Cioppino, uni special, and a side of onion rings. Still thinking of the clam linguini as I'm writing the review - absolutely a must order! The dish was so creamy we used the bread from the cioppino to soak up the remaining sauce. The Uni special contained 6 pieces of uni served with raw scallop and lime wheel. A must get!!

Yelp
Amazing fresh made food. Generous portions and great atmosphere what more can you ask for!! Husband comes out to Santa Barbara frequently for work and we sometimes tag along. This is a go to place to eat out here. The prices will not break the bank and the food is delicious will be coming here from now on anytime we are out here.

Yelp
Food is very decent but pricey however the servers are pretty great welcome and they deserve the good tip. I didn't get the table inside the restaurant because we wanted to spend time at the outside environment near the live band musical. It was a great experience. I brought my homemade sauces so we could enjoy our styles. Kids had so much on the pier, it was great day and great weather that we could not ask for more. I got some sea urchins from the next door sea food market.

Yelp
We drove to SB for the weekend and while waiting to check-in we went to the marina. We came across this restaurant. They have lots of live rock crabs and sea urchins as their featured special menu. So we put our names on the waiting list coz the place is small but lots of seating outside with heaters( it was a chilly day). We ordered both their listed special with mixed fried seafood platter and a clam chowder in the bread. It was pricey but it's worth it. They prepared the food well. So if you are in the area you should try them.

Yelp
Hands down the best tasting lobster roll! Came here on the way home from a visit to Santa Barbara. We were lucky to bear the rush and got a really good seat outside. They have outdoor heaters for chilly days. Parking - highly suggest parking on the pier by driving in unless you want to take a 20 minute stroll from the beach parking. The clam chowder was delicious, pretty hearty and full of goodness. The uni was fresh and melt in your mouth tasty and went well with the cucumber slices. The pasta was okay. And the star of the meal was the lobster roll - buttery French roll filled with seasoned real lobster salad, yum.

Yelp
Update for today. They had my steamed clams in white wine sauce! Tasted just like my memory of them from so many years ago. Server was super kind. Fantastic time! Outside was lovely and ambient and temperate. Definitely come when you can sit outside and around 2pm-4pm range. Booths fit plus sized people and worked even with my cane and bad leg.
google avatar

Yelp
Probably the most popular restaurant in this area since it looks like to be the only place with long wait list for a table for a Friday noon lunchtime. Uni on scallop is pretty good, they are very fresh and they'd better be, it's $36.95 for 6 pcs. Chowder is not bad, lots of chunky pieces of clams inside. Do not order the combo of fried platter though, I didn't enjoy any of it except for the onion rings which were crispy and lightly breaded. Parking for the first 90 mins is free then it's $4/hr. There's indoor and outdoor seatings, the outdoor is windy with beautiful sea views.
google avatar

Yelp
I was here on a date last night and the service and food were spectacular. We shared the shrimp/scallop ceviche, mussels/clams, crab cakes and each had an uni shooter. I ordered mine without Tabasco and it was amazing! That was my first one ever and won't be my last. We sat outside and watched the sunset and reminisced on how lucky we are to live here.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for the oysters and was not disappointed! We tried blue lagoon, sea cape and another kind. All super good but I'm really not picky. Service was fast and waitress was super sweet. They allow dogs on the patio so it was a great experience for us.

Yelp
A must must visit restaurant if you are in Santa Baraba. They are well known for their Seafood platters, ESPECIALLY: Fresh Uni . Wait time can be between 30-40minutes, but you can walk around Stern whalf and taking photos :). There are patio seatings. Scallop Unis: 4.5/5: picture cannot describe how good the quality of these SB unis were, you just gotta try this out Uni shooters: 4/5: refreshing, mild sour taste. Fun to order in groups Seafood pasta: 3/5: good but small portion We ordered some crabs and clam chowder to try and this was one of the best chowders I've had. Simple, creamy texture yet filled with the clam meats and fullfilling. Fast service :)

Yelp
Still our all-time favorite and must eat everytime we are in SB!!! Excellent service and the best seafood all around. Love seating outside by the bay enjoying the seabreeze and sunshine. Can't beat the vibe. Years later and they are still a big hit! A job well done. Thank you for the consistency in a well run business! Love this place.

Yelp
On my last visit to Stearn's Wharf, we had eaten at a different restaurant, then we walked down the wharf. This place was buzzing and I promised myself that I would be back! This time, we got here about 30 minutes before they opened and there was already a line. We jumped in quick and got to talk to some regulars. They said, get the clam chowder and the shellfish. The restaurant is bigger than you expect as there is patio/pier seating on the other side of the building and indoor bar seating. We ended up sitting at the open kitchen bar seats. This was so fun as we were in the middle of the action! Plus, we got to see all the tanks of live seafood (lobsters, dungeness crabs - my fave, uni - other fave, and abalone). Clam Chowder Bread Bowl - the clam chowder was pretty good, but was light on the clam flavor. The bread was not great. Maybe I'm spoiled from Disneyland's Clam Chowder (way better) in Boudin's Sourdough Bread Bowl (soo yum!). Scallop Ceviche with Uni - we were super disappointed with this. It was very mediocre ceviche with way too much onions. Dungeness Crab Cocktail - how can you say no to dungeness crab (my fave) that has been shelled for you? This was really good! The crab was super fresh. Scallops with Uni - oh my favorite! Love raw scallops and uni. Can't miss out on this! The lime gives a great freshness. Definitely get this. Now, don't forget where is restaurant is located, at the end of Stearn's Wharf, where you get the beautiful beach views! Service was good. Recommended!

Yelp
This place is a must if you're in the Santa Barbara area! There might be a wait but it'll be worth it. Staff was friendly and answered my million questions. The box crab was very fresh as well as the uni. Lobster Roll was made perfectly. We sat outside there wasn't much to it and the tables are pretty torn up but I'm guessing that's due to the weather/environment . Can't wait to be back!
google avatar

LP M.

Yelp
Pretty expensive but the food was fresh! We ordered out of the take away window and sat on the pier. All the seafood was fresh and flavorful, service was friendly and efficient.

Yelp
I'd say this place is closer to a 3.5 given the wait time and it definitely is a tourist trap as a local favorite. It was interesting to see the mix of folks that were willing to wait in the cold to dine here. I'll say we waited around ~40 mins when we came at 7PM on a Saturday weekend. They do try to work through the list quickly by breaking up some of the outside tables but the inside is fairly small. Parking on the boardwalk is free for the first hour but then you'll need to pay the rest of your visit. As you're waiting it's good to check out on the board to see their specials for the day. I also noticed if you don't want to dine in they have an order window on the side to go with a more limited menu, but if you just want the standard fare it might be a good option if you want to decrease your wait time. Once we were finally seated we got lucky to get seated in a booth with a heater and had to try the Santa Barbara rock crab, clam chowder, seafood sampler and onion rings. All in all the food was okay but nothing too memorable. The clam chowder had an Italian spices flavor and the sampler was a good way to try everything. The rock crab was good to try once but don't think I will order it again since it wasn't really that meaty. Tempted to get the scallops with uni but ended up opting out of it this time since we ordered quite a bit but I would be open to come back to try it.
google avatar

Karena K.

Yelp
My life has been changed for the better after trying their fresh uni. It was so yummy and creamy. There was a long wait to be seated inside, but my friend saw there was a window on the side where you can just order and receive the items shortly after. They have a lot of seating nearby. We decided to just order from the window, and it was a good decision to do so as it saved us a lot of time.

Yelp
It is no secret that I visit Santa Barbara often, just to have lunch. In this context, I have tried most, if not all of the well known seafood establishments. If you are looking for good lobster, I can unequivocally say that the Santa Barbara Shellfish Company is the best in this department. It is situated at the end of Stearn's Wharf and a short walk from the Amtrak station. The vistas, the fragrance of the sea breeze and the stunning ocean views accompany you as you walk the pier heading to this seafood haven. In my opinion, they also have the best lobster roll in town, a feature that also leaves them unmatched, so far, even if you consider the eateries in Santa Monica. This time, I wished to try the whole Grilled Spiny Lobster. It comes out fresh out of their tanks in the restaurant, is halved, then boiled and finished up on the grill. It is well plated and comes with large onion rings (superb), Cole slaw (also made really well). Before ordering my one and a half pound lobster (at $64 a pound), I reminded them not to dry it out by over grilling. The resulting dish was succulent, flavorful and fresh. The food, the ocean ambiance and the attentive service makes this restaurant a "must return" stop for my visits to Santa Barbara.
google avatar

Vivian T.

Yelp
Had to check this off my bookmarks list as it is the most popular seafood spot in Santa Barbara. The restaurant sits at the end of the pier and provides gorgeous views of the ocean and surrounding scenery. I came around sunset and it was chilly, so we sat indoors near the windowsill. Scallops and Uni (4/5): Each came on a lime and presented with a half uni shell. Very pretty and fresh dish. Dozen Kumamoto Oysters (4/5): Went well with the garnish and was shucked clean! Lobster Pasta (2.5/5): Bland, lobster meat was chewy, and no flavor to the toasted bread on the side either. SB Shellfish does claim their spot here offering the prettiest sunset views! Their food is nothing top notch but I would eat something small and venture out for something else but I still appreciated the scenery the most!
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
A lovely place to eat with the best ocean views anywhere. Outside is a very beautiful place to sit but bring your coat even during the summer. The Clam Chowder is awesome. So is the Calamari and Giant onion rings. This was our 2nd time and we will be back! Love this spot!
google avatar

Nick G.

Yelp
Any time my fiancé and I are in Santa Barbra we make sure to visit and splurge a little and have a great meal. I can't describe how fresh, authentic and heartwarming the food hits when you dine in with a great view. The service is always on point and tentative to all your needs, I'm not going to lie, I make sure to ask for extra butter for my crab!
google avatar

Jack L.

Yelp
I always thought Santa Barbara Shellfish Company was more of a tourist spot, but visiting during a quieter time--with hardly any wait for the limited outdoor seating--revealed its true charm. It's a great little spot at the end of Stearns Wharf, with a secluded feel and beautiful beach views. Had the steamed crab--tasty, but those crabs must've been on a diet. Onion rings were super crispy, and the cioppino in a bread bowl was packed with seafood and flavor. Local shrimp cocktail was fresh and chilled perfectly. Cold beer, friendly staff, and ocean views made for a great, laid-back meal. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
My partner and I took a day trip to Santa Barbara to celebrate our anniversary and wanted to try some small bites here and there as we explored. We walked around the wharf and decided to stop by here because of the casual and unpretentious vibe. We got the uni with scallops, some fresh oysters, the lobster roll, and a cup of their clam chowder. My partner and I have only had mediocre to bad experiences with uni, but I knew that we had to give uni another chance at peak freshness. This was our first time having uni this fresh and it was absolutely phenomenal, especially paired with the sauce. I'm not sure what the sauce was but it was sort of ponzu-like. We're from LA but we're itching to come back for more uni! The clam chowder was fine and it also came with a lot of clam! The lobster roll didn't stand out as much as the rest of the items. Service was good and quick.

Yelp
Clam chowder craving satisfied! Any time we are in a beach town, we are looking towards the wharf/pier for clam chowder and seafood. Had a lot of good things about SB Shellfish Company. Even came highly recommended by one of our Lyft drivers. There seemed to be a small wait for the outdoor, waterside seating so we opted to sit at the bar table along the windows. The bar seating was full as well. Seriously fast service. Everyone was quite friendly and attentive. Was greeted and check on by several employees which was nice. What we ordered: -Clam chowder in a bread bowl (thick, creamy, chunky chowder in a soft, flavorful sourdough bread bowl...hit the spot) -Fried seafood plate (calamari, shrimp, scallop, and oyster. calamari and shrimp were our faves. Scallop and oysters had a little too much breading) -Lobster pasta (we were in a hurry and had to take it to go but it was delicious even after throwing it in the microwave the next day) Of course we paired our meal with a couple local IPAs. Will make a return visit next time we are in town.

Yelp
The UNI!! on scallops is the star of the show. Although said to be a special, it seems to readily available year-round (according to Yelp photos). I loved this dish so much that I easily dropped $75 without hesitation for two platters... The taste is simply immaculate. So fresh and creamy. SB local caught. Cholesterol levels are spiking (but that's a later problem). The seafood pasta was standard, and the crab cakes are very crispy and savory, which goes well with the clam chowder. I definitely love the uni on scallops the most though LOL

Yelp
Lunch at the wharf. We met up with my boyfriend's fam here for lunch. Seating was outside at the patio/pier. Inside they do have seats by the window and by the bar. Since my boyfriend is not a fan of eating seafood, he was not able to find anything else to eat on their menu besides seafood. The menu only offers just seafood. He opted to get the shrimp scampi pasta. He though his dish tasted bland. I tried it and it tasted ok. I ordered the lobster pasta. I find that the lobster pasta had more flavor than the dish he got. Overall, food was good and service was nice and friendly. Gonna have to come back for the lobster roll.

Yelp
If you're getting fresh seafood this is the place to do it! The uni is local and delicious (a lot of sushi places have them shipped from Santa Barbara so tough to beat eating uni it their hometown). The blueprint oysters were big but not too big. They premixed the cocktail sauce with the horseradish. Clam chowder was full of clam meat, get a cup - love the mug touch to it. Great service! Quick and friendly. It's on the pier so it just adds to the charm of fresh seafood. Next time I want to try their lobster roll. Nice picturesque spot to have a meal! Seagulls and surfers, sea and boats, winds all around. Perfect location for seafood. Ambiance is right in point. Be prepared to wait a while. We got lucky but it starts to line up fast.

Yelp
I wanted to check this place out since I was in the area and heard that the seafood here was really good. I came with a friend on a Thursday night without any reservations and waited around 30 minutes to get seated. There's seating indoors and outdoors (with heat lamps). While waiting, you can walk around the pier to pass the time. Clam Chowder (5/5): This soup was really good. It was thick and creamy, and had a lot of clams. It also came with crackers but I like to eat it plain. Oysters (5/5): So good and fresh! The oyster meat was huge which I really liked. The sauces that it came with also complimented the oysters. Scallop Uni (4/5): These were good. The uni was good and creamy but I thought the combination of scallop and uni was a bit strange since I don't think they blend together. The scallops were good, and the live sea urchin was a nice aesthetic to the dish. Lobster Roll (5/5): So good! The bread roll that it came with was so flavorful, crispy, soft, seasoned well. And the lobster was great, big chunks and the portion was good. It also came with two huge onion rings which my friend really liked and said it was one of the best he's had. Overall, I really enjoyed dining here. Our server was really nice and attentive too. The seafood was delicious and fresh, and I'd definitely come back. We left feeling really full and content.

Yelp
SB shellfish company is one of those place you must check out if you're in the area and love seafood! +food influencer, Mark Wiens, visited this spot and loved it! This spot is super popular and wait can get long. I went on Saturday 15 minutes before open. There were couple groups ahead of me but short line formed soon after I joined the line so come early! +I came here twice but I've ordered following items: box crab, fresh oysters, urchin scallop sashimi, clam chowder, and rock crab. Unfortunately when we visited this past October, our favorite box crab wasn't available (which was so heartbreaking) but we LOVEEE their box crab! Box crab has unique meat texture but it's sweet and super good. We enjoyed their fresh oysters and scallop/uni sashimi. Overall most of their seafood items are fresh and delicious! -Rock crab was just okay. I don't think I'll order it again. -indoor seatings are just bad counters so if you want to sit as a group, you should sit outside. -I tried to call and contact them few times to ask when box crab was in season but they NEVER picked up the phone. I understand they get enough business but it'd be great if they could answer the phone since we plan a whole trip to visit SB!

Yelp
If you're looking for a seafood spot that's equal parts fresh, fun, and gloriously messy, Santa Barbara Shellfish Company is your jam. This place doesn't mess around with fancy plating or frills--just straight-up killer seafood served with harbor views and salty breezes. We kicked things off with the fried combo platter (calamari, shrimp, scallops, oysters), and holy moly, it's the kind of crispy, golden perfection that makes you forget table manners exist. The oysters were briny little gems, the shrimp juicy, and the calamari? Then came the uni atop raw scallops with lime --a dish that sounds intimidating but tastes like the ocean threw a party. The uni was creamy and bold, balanced by the scallop's sweetness and a zesty lime punch. It's a flavor bomb, but not for the timid. But the real showstopper was the 3lb rock crab we each ordered. Let me tell you, cracking into those beasts felt like a primal victory--sweet, buttery meat dripping down our wrists, shells flying everywhere. *Pro tip: Order the crab dirty (they leave the head uncleaned) so you don't miss out on that rich, custardy, crab broth goodness inside. Trust me, it's worth looking like a hot mess. Fair warning: You will eave smelling like the sea, with shell shrapnel on your shirt and crab juice in places you didn't know existed. Embrace it. The vibe here is laid-back, the staff is chill (and patient with crab-cracking newbies), and the food? Unforgettable. Grab a bib, a cold beer, and dive in. This is seafood the way it should be--loud, messy, and 100% delicious. ... And that's how you spend your 50th B-day lunch!!!

Yelp
Still leaving 5-star reviews for the Shellfish Company. We've been coming here to celebrate family birthdays for 30 years now and it's consistently the best, cleanest, fresh seafood in SB. Tonight we had lobster rolls, chowder and a glass of Pinot. The Pinot pour is insanely generous!!! We already knew the lobster roll with the massive amount of lobster, minimal filler on a toasted buttery brioche is the best lobster roll we've ever had anywhere, including all over Maine! The service, as usual, was fast and attentive. Thank you, Shellfish Co., for another memorable birthday dinner in a booth on the deck under a heat lamp on a cold, gray SB winter night!

Yelp
absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this place with a passion!! been coming here since COVID and the hit every time! from the awesome service and hospitality to the quality of their great tasting food! I am absolutely a fan and will always come to eat here while in SB! They have daily specials and seem to be serving up a different type of seafood every visit. I think the last time I came the alaskan king crab was the special and this time they had a ton of caviar specials! They switch it up but still same great quality taste! They are a bit on the smaller size but they whip the dishes asap to serve their customers and to get them in and out of the shop! They are located right on the pier with an intimate setting with very nice and wonderful breath taking views of the SB pier and beach! DEF a fan and cant wait to come back for some more sea food & uni! UNI truly is the best in town here!

Yelp
Location is gorgeous- it's on the pier, you can either park on the pier or before you drive into it. Either way the walk is beautiful throughout. The food, oh man. Obviously known for their lobster so that's why 3/4 of our meal was some form of it. Beyond fresh and seasoned just right. And the clam chowder had a lot of potatoes and just enough ratio of lobster and clam that left us wanting more. They have to move fast because the orders are coming in hot as it does get busy- we came during lunch hour so finding a place to sit was a bit hard. You had to keep your eyes wide open to make sure you could snag something or else you are eating standing up. It's a must stop for every tourist I feel like so of course we had to eat here, would come back since we barely touched the surface of the menu.

Yelp
Was a cold windy day and stopped in for a quick bite to escape the cold. Both items we got were pretty bland, the fried seafood platter with shrimp, scallops and calamari had zero flavor & needed salt badly. The clam chowder was okay, needed more flavor as well. Kinda not surprising bc of their location, ikyk. Maybe a good tourist spot?

Yelp
We really loved their uni over scallops! 6 of them for $30 is not bad since they were super fresh! The Cioppino was great but there was barely any broth to enjoy the bread bowl with. If there was more seafood broth, then this place would get 5 stars. It was windy af eating on the water with a view so bring a hoody!!

Yelp
Came here on a birthday trip and we loved their uni! We also had their fried seafood platter which was good but the uni was a standout. Friendly staff and outdoor seating was nice for the views of the pier.

Yelp
Drove onto the pier. 90 min free parking. Thankfully there were parking spaces available. Stopped here for Saturday lunch. Decided to sit inside because it was chilly sitting at a table, which were only available outside. We were seated and served water, followed by our house wine. No frill, casual dining. Ordered clam chowder (delicious), crab cakes (tasty), and Cioppino (full of seafood). Everything was prepared just right. We will have to stop in again on a sunny day.

Yelp
Cute seafood restaurant at the end of Stearns Wharf. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They also have another side where you could do to go orders to eat anywhere, but they also have a couple of picnic tables where you can eat. I came here solely for the uni and it did not disappoint. I've heard the best uni comes from Santa Barbara and it rings true. A little sweet and deliciously creamy, the uni knocked my socks off and the scallop pairing was -chef's kiss- I also ordered the shrimp tacos and thought they were just okay. It is indeed quite pricey, I spent over $60 for just myself. However if you're a seafood lover, you definitely have to check out this place. Also be careful of the seagulls! They watch you like a hawk with your food!
