Great place! They have great (and very big) empanadas, which are wonderful, as well as other items. I also got a piece of cake, which was unlike any other I've ever had before - in a good way. If I'm in the area again, I certainly would consider coming back!

Summary of original review: I had a disappointing experience with a birthday cake I ordered for my daughter. Although it was ready on time and matched the photo fairly well, it was slightly damaged on one side and started falling apart shortly after pickup, despite being handled carefully. Update: However, the baker reached out to me personally after my review, apologized, and offered a thoughtful resolution. I really appreciated their willingness to make things right and their genuine concern for customer satisfaction. While things didn’t start off well, I’m now happy with how it was handled and respect the care they showed in resolving the issue.

Parking is insane but if you can secure a spot the food was fresh and delicious. There is one table that's it kind of a grab and go situation. We tried the ham and cheese empanada and tres leches.

Originally born and raised in Boston, drive up from Virginia twice or three times a year to see family. I am use to Santias delicious cakes and picadera since i was really young in Bani. I rave about their cakes to everyone down south since we do not have many Dominican bakers. Bought a half a pound cake to bring back home to share and the icing was super dry , stretchy almost like gum. The cake was dry , as if it had been frozen before decorated. Its very disappointing to have traveled 9 hours and have a cake not resemble home. Truly truly upset about this the icing was not enjoyable, my kids did enjoy the cake however. Hoping when i return in the summer not to run into the same experience.

I had the pleasure of sending my dad and brother to Santia's Bakery to pick up a cake for my daughter's second birthday. To my delight, the cake they brought back was an exact match to the picture I found on Pinterest! The precision and attention to detail were impeccable. Not only was the cake visually stunning, but it also tasted divine. The flavors were rich and decadent, leaving everyone at the party craving more. The customer service provided by Santia's Bakery was exceptional. My family was greeted warmly, and the staff made sure everything was just right. I highly recommend Santia's Bakery to anyone looking for top-notch baked goods and exceptional service. Whether it's a birthday, wedding, or any other special occasion, you can trust Santia's Bakery to deliver perfection. I'm already planning my next visit, and I encourage others to experience the magic of Santia's Bakery for themselves! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love this neighborhood Dominican bakery 💎. I've ordered pastelitos and Quipes for events and they are very good. My kids love their empanadas! They are huge, tasty and packed with meat. I would recommend!

Google
The owners are disrespectful ,Racist and rude and need to learn how to talk to customers the correct way instead of arguing back. and get some actual parking for the business so people can actually park terrible ! is that how a business ran? being in the car and outside of it doesn’t make a difference. nobody was speeding you guys were rushing for a parking spot and at that seeing that we’re moving to fix ourselves and kept inching up more. you don’t even have a authorized parking spot for YOURSELF so YOU and YOUR people can call the city of boston you know 311? to get your parking spot situated and speak to the construction workers around YOUR business for YOUR parking spot so you don’t have to deal with problems😊 if anything YOU have to apologize for being a disrespectful broad talking to people like that in store and out of the store so much for the star of the store right? and for anybody that reads this, this isn’t the only bad review😂

Google
Their empanada game is crazy! Under five bucks and fills you up. I took one home and weighed it, it's a full pound! But that's not what's special, what's special is the pastry crust! Buttery and light and a liiiittle sweet my lawd these are habit forming

Yelp
Now this place sells authentic pastelitos. Yes they are small but that's how they sell then in DR.. they are full of flavor , not greasy. And the sandwich are actually really good .. they are not cheap with the ham.. Ohh and get the lemonade... delicious
google avatar

Taina G.

Yelp
The pastelitos are bite size, the dough is soft they have beef, chicken but the sazón is not giving and that's including the Quipes. There's no criollo flavor to be found. The Yucca and cheese fritters have no flavor. Ordered a Dominican cake it was dry and too sweet. Is a small place and gets crowded quick, they don't give you time to think before they're taking your order so think quick.

Yelp
The bare MINIMUM of owning a bakery should be not selling people dry desserts, especially when it's cake. We got a cake here for my birthday and it was just not good. Super dry and zero flavor. Highly disappointed. I do not recommend this bakery.

Yelp
Great Dominican Bakery for Birthday cakes sweet pastries and savory snacks fritters and the like.

Yelp
Easy to find, on trend with the decor colors of our time (Grey), and array of desserts and cakes. A bit of delay in the service because the cashier mostly spoke Spanish (it's a Spanish-speaking bakery, please understand that). This was fine because there are menus and you can just point at what you'd like to try or need. I ordered the chicken pastelitos and they did not disappoint. Yummy!

Yelp
I'm an currently working construction across the st and visit here for coffee break. The beef empanadas are by far the best I've had. Very authentic and a hidden gem in my eyes.

Yelp
I voiced my opinion about the service I experienced at this business and got immediate backlash for it by the owner or manager, not sure. They did not apologize or made it clear that they will discuss with their employees on customer service. They went on a instagram rant and side posted how their employee is great. She may be great but I did not experience her greatness this morning and that should be simply corrected. Customer service training needs to be held evidently.

Yelp
This is an adorable bakery that my friends and I were drawn to due to the delicious smell coming from it, each of us saying it reminded us of our respective childhood homes. We walked in and it was somewhat busy, yet we were tended to quite quickly. They had a couple tables open. We ordered two empanadas (one chicken and cheese, one ham and cheese) and two chocolate chunk cookies. We were absolutely SHOCKED at the low price tags, as each empanada was just over $3 each and they are quite large! Both of them had such incredible flavor and seasoning - we honestly could not pick a favorite between the two. The cookies were just the right amount of flaky balanced with large chocolate chunks that they were a great capstone to a quick lunch. Two empanadas and two cookies were just enough to split between three people looking for a quick bite to eat. We noticed quite a few folks coming in to pick up dessert or cakes, which definitely peaked our interest. Will return the next time I'm in JP, truly a highlight!

Yelp
Went today when they were closing. Staff was friendly and helpful. We decided to get a few things and take them home. We bought their majatete, puff pastry with guava and cheese, chocolate shot, cream horn and tres leche with caramel topping. To drink we bought a limeade and passion fruit juice. We first tried the drinks and they reminded us of home. They were both equally delicious. When we got home we tried the various desserts we picked out. I highly recommend the chocolate shot although everything we tried was amazing.

Yelp
Food was great I ordered chicken pastelillos they were juicy not dry. Service was fast although it was very busy I went early in the day before a meeting couldn't believe how many people were there buying. Very live, clean and the ambiance is nice.

Yelp
This place really reminded me of home. The arroz con leche was delicious and just the right amount of sweet. I also had the quipe and empanada which were really well seasoned. You know the place is authentic when they call cake 'bizcocho'. Everyone was really nice and it made me feel like I was at the bakery next to where I grew up. Definitely going back!

Yelp
Beautiful cake! Came out exactly how we wanted it to. Definitely looking forward to coming back again. Took away one star only because the cake was on the dryer side. Next time I'll ask for extra dulce de leche and ask if it can be more moist. Other than that- beautiful and delicious!

Yelp
Cute, clean, bakery. No seating available probably due to covid precautions. Nice selection of sweets. I think better labeling of the sweets would've been helpful to make it easier to figure out what was in each container. The staff was nice and answered all my questions. Got the Buñuelos, arroz con leche and majarete. Pretty good value for the amount I paid. Items weren't overly sweet.

Yelp
If you are looking for some delicious cake from local bakery, look no further! I searched dessert on grub hub and this came up. I ordered a slice of chocolate cake, a slice of guava cake and some little guava empanadas. So yummy, rich and sweet. The empanadas were a little crunchier than I'd like, more like a cookie. The cake had quite a bit of frosting as well, which was definitely my jam, but might not be yours. The guava cake had a lighter frosting, so I would go for that if you are looking for something a little less dense.

Yelp
If you don't speak Spanish don't even bother. I did a DoorDash order and they tended to the Spanish speaks before finally getting the order. I would of got something for myself but I don't need those bad vibes.

Yelp
They too prideful to correct there own mistake and they lucky they close late because I would've gone to GONDRES BAKERY instead. & cake was dry. They need to make sure customers are satisfied not the other way around. I'll gladly take my money to another business because they don't deserve not a single penny from me. Women also complained and wanted to charge me when I asked for a bigger cup with just ice when I was pregnant. Worst service ever.

Yelp
Purchased a whole carrot cake for my boyfriend's birthday. Ordered a week in advance. When I arrived at the agreed time, employees seemed caught off guard and I had to wait 15 minutes in store, even after I allowed for an additional half hour. This I don't mind so much. The cake looked and smelled BEAUTIFUL and the employees were very nice, but I have to say that the cake is warm...almost hot. I'm not a practiced baker and even I know not to ice a cake before it fully cools. Needless to say the top layer slid clean off inside the box on my 10 minute walk home. The icing was running. I'm really disappointed because I know this wouldn't have happened if the cake had been allowed to cool. I did, however get to taste the cake as I was trying to put it back together. Delicious! Just no longer presentable for the party tonight. Disappointed.

Yelp
Awesome service and known for their cakes. I'm a big fan of their natural juices

Yelp
Horrible servicio.

Yelp
Great place for wonderful cakes and Latin food. I like to think I know good Latin food and this place is very impressive. Do you wanna do yourself a favor and order from this bakery. Delicioso
google avatar

Janelys P.

Yelp
Horrible service and the food and dessert taste disgusting. I've been to the Santias in Bani, RD and this is a disappointment and just shouldn't carry the same name. Anyways I walked in today and ended up leaving as the workers literally stared at me and in no way offered service, failed to greet me and had the audacity of arguing with me when I told them I no longer wanted anything and left. RECOMMEND: GONDRES BAKERY on Center St :)

Orla K.

Yelp
Great friendly service; delicious guava cheese empanadas. Will def be going there again!

Yelp
It's a cute local spot in Jamaica plain that's always busy! they have empanadas, pastries, you name it. I love the chicken empanadas. Great spot!
google avatar

Carsen M.

Yelp
This place is really lovely and has a wonderful selection of sweets. Tres leche, chocolate mousse, strawberry cheesecake, and key lime pie were all delicious. They also have empanadas which I am looking forward to trying next time!

Diana P.

Yelp
The staff is so unprofessional my husband called to order a cake and they hanged up on him two times . He proceeded to go to the store to order a cake . When he went to pick up the cake they spelled the name wrong and didn't even try to cover it with more frosting they just stuck some flowers on top of it and the cake was super dry almost inedible. The caramel filling in the middle taste like it was burnt . Huge disappointment

Yelp
My husband and I was driving by and decided to stop. We were not disappointed!! The customer service was great, she was friendly, attentive and even gave me extra frosting for my slice of guava cake. The pastels were flavorful we had the chicken and veggie. My husband was disappointed because we order the beef but hey accidents happens. I had the yuca and cheese... OMG so good!!

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Order was decent (empanadas, Dominican cake). Staff is EXTREMELY unprofessional, very rude! I waiting for 1.5 hours for an order I place almost a month in advance. It's unfortunate because I am a frequent costumer; owner wasn't even remorseful. Needless to say I will never buy here again.

Yelp
This was my first time at this beautiful, well organized establishment. I was impressed with the offerings of baked goodies and prepared foods. I don't speak much Spanish so I had a little trouble with the offerings with Spanish labels on them. But no worries, the other patrons were very kind and translated the meanings and ingredients to me. I settled on an appetizer that consisted of ground chicken and mashed potato enrobed in a crunchy fried coating. It was hot and delicious. Perfect. Wish I had ordered more. Next, I got a beautiful little bag of what seemed to be crescent shaped wedding cookies. I bit into one and nearly swooned as the cookie's buttery flavor literally melted into the most delicious sensation in my mouth. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it also had a filling of what tasted of guava. A perfect compliment to the almond and confectionary sugar taste of the cookie. Not too sweet. Just the right interesting touch. I really enjoyed my experience at Santia and can't wait to go back and try the Dulce de leche cake and other wonderful looking goodies there. I also want to try whatever those cold drinks were swirling in those machines. Those looked interesting too! Santia is a hidden treasure in the Egleston area of JP. You have to check them out!

Yelp
Danger!!! I went to this bakery yesterday and found that the salespeople were not wearing masks or gloves. Also, they were not observing social distancing with customers or each other. I spoke to a salesperson about this (in Spanish) and his response was to start laughing and walk away. At a time when so many Latinos are suffering from Covid in Boston (our rate of infection is 2x or 3x that of Caucasians, this is profoundly irresponsible. By the way I'm from JP, not San Francisco!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Tried a few of the desserts here and wasn't impressed. The chocolate chip cookies and brownie were very dry. The carrot cake was good but not great.
google avatar

Julian B.

Yelp
My friend is from Bani, where the original Santia's is, and when I told them there was a location down the street from me they told me I had to go. They weren't wrong- the pastelitos are delicious, the majarete is creamy, and the flan melts in your mouth. Plus the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Definitely going to make this a stop on my way to work in the morning!

Yelp
I tried to order a cake from this place but when I called the bakery a woman picked up the phone and said that when you order a big cake more than 1 pound you have to go through Instagram I went to Instagram send a direct message to this man I guess it's a man that makes the cakes after hours of going back-and-forth I said can you please call me this person replied yes I Will didn't call me I kept sending him messages then I asked him again if he can please call me. He didn't call me. after that I got frustrated and I actually ordered the cake somewhere else this is horrible customer service and I will never order a cake from this place again first of all why would you have a bakery but not do not take orders over the phone and you have to go through a Instagram and then the person from a Instagram doesn't ever call you back or respond to your texts so horrible service do not order a case from this please

Why B.

Yelp
The sandwiches are too greasy! I'm fat and I eat everything he first time I got the pineapple cake it was sooo delicious the next time I bought it the cake was dry and to make it.

Yelp
I had ordered a tres leches cake for my daughters birthday. Tell me why, the cake came out LOOKING nice but tasted like a vanilla stop and stop cake and they gave me DULCE DE LECHE INSTEAD. I was VERY disappointed. Don't go here, just go to stop n shop

Asia A.

Yelp
I had the worst experience with this place .BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. I ordered a cake and some cake shots for my daughters birthday . They didn't only take 2 weeks to let me know how much it was going to cost but they didn't even make the cake how I told them I wanted . I wanted the platform of the cake to say happy birthday and my daughters name and that didn't happen . They also made my cake last minute . The only reason I know it was made last minute because they called about an hour prior to the scheduled time for pick up and said they needed more time to finish the cake . If you are not able to do an order just say no . Once my husband picked up the cake as soon as we turned the corner the second level of the cake crumbled into the first level of the cake and then had the audacity to say it was our fault that the cake crumbled . I then called to see if they could give me another cake and they declined and said my husband was rude and would not do that . They said we would have to buy another one . I WILL NEVER EVER ORDER FROM THEM. They lost any future busy from me or anyone I know . They don't have any customer service manners.
