Santo Cantina & Cocina - Review - Avondale Estates - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Santo Cantina & Cocina, the only spot in Avondale Estates serving Mexican food, is more useful than it is delicious. They've got a shaded patio where the lived-in vibe of the place feels more natural than it does inside the bright yellow dining room. There's a full bar and bartenders who whip up decent margaritas, and the restaurant shares a (free) parking lot with The Little Hippo. For all of these reasons, the casual Mexican restaurant works just fine if you're nearby and in a taco mood. As for the menu, expect the usual suspects of enchiladas and towering plates of nachos to go along with your free chips and cilantro-filled salsa, but also a burger that tastes like it uses a frozen patty. We usually stick to the tacos, which are the safest bets. So what if the fish taco is a little dry? It has a little sweet mango slaw with chipotle crema that makes up for it—especially with the backdrop of a cool breeze and the hum of overhead fans. Food Rundown Fish Taco Two flour tortillas filled with a slender tender of fried white fish. The sweet slaw with mango and cabbage—plus a bunch of chipotle crema—helps you avoid the potential choking hazard of the dried-out fish. photo credit: Juli Horsford Street Tacos Choose from eight different options to slap between your double corn tortillas, onions, and cilantro. The shredded chicken is moist and has a nice smoky flavor. And the cochinita pibil has a subtle hint of citrus. photo credit: Juli Horsford Nachos De Santo This massive dome of tortilla chips comes with shredded chicken. Don’t even think about swapping it for steak or shrimp because the chicken’s smoky flavors work best with the melted cheese, pinto beans, habanero sour cream, and literal pound of lettuce on top. photo credit: Juli Horsford Mexican Style Burger It’s a wild card dish and not worth an order. The patty tastes like it was frozen and thawed. And the melty cheese, onion, and poblano chili rojas should bring a little heat and richness, but somehow they combine to not taste like much of anything. photo credit: Juli Horsford" - Juli Horsford

Raise a Toast to Bartenders With Tequila Cocktails at These Atlanta Bars | Eater

"Paul Vinces’ and Michael Condon’s Calle Latina in Decatur has a more South American vibe, but Santo Cantina & Cocina has a proudly and distinctly Mexican identity. Its menu highlights specific regional specialties such as street tacos, spit-grilled al pastor, Yucatan specialty cochinita pibil in achiote sauce, Mole Ojo Rojo with two sauces, nopal salad, and more. The restaurant’s setting is just as colorful as its menu: Vivid paintings accent yellow walls with dark wood panels that match the tables, while throw pillows on the bench seating along the walls resemble Mexican tile and kitchenware. At the bar, order their signature Santa Margarita with Teremana Reposado by the glass or the pitcher. It’s just the thing to kick back with when the mariachi band fires up on Wednesday nights." - Su-Jit Lin

Google
Amazing food, friendly and attentive staff and nice vibes. I’ve visited for lunch, happy hour and dinner and I’ve always had a good experience. If I’m in a group of 2 or 10, still great! Their spicy margaritas are excellent but they also have sangria, beer and a bar. For food, I highly recommend the cochinita pibil in every form, the lobster tacos, the pozole rojo and tortilla soup. If the parking lot is full, there is a large parking lot behind the building if you turn left just after and go to the rear.

Excellent food. I had the Arrachera burrito with the rice and beans, phenomenal 10/10 will be back again. The cocktails were on point. Try the Fabulous. Alex and Mira were the bartenders great service. Ty the manager was vary sweet. It was an all around great experience and the music, perfect👌. Try them out.

It was a busy Saturday night but it didn’t matter. We had a great experience. Service here is a standout. The entire staff was out-of-the-way kind and communicative. Loved everything from the food to the drinks. Conversation with bartender was the highlight.

We had such a great time here! The drinks were fantastic, perfectly mixed with a kick. The service was just as impressive, especially thanks to Derek. He was attentive, friendly, and really made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for delicious drinks, great food, and top-notch service.

We came here one day becuase the place we wanted to go to was randomly closed. It was okay. There are not a ton of great Mexican restaurants in this immediate area. I think the menu and style offers something different than the average Mexican or Tex Mex in Decatur/Avondale Estates. We were honestly, pleasantly surprised. To be honest, the cheese dip, salsa, and margarita were good, but not great. The cheese dip was a little cold, and instead of jalapenos, it had some red spice on it. The beans and rice were bland, but I don't care so much about beans and rice. When they are amazing, I will let you know, because most Mexican restaurants do not have good rice and beans. I don't know why they miss the flavor mark. The tacos, however, were very good! I got some tacos and my husband got, I think, Birria tacos. We loved the tacos! They were good. I would realy like to give this place a second chance to see if it surprises me the next time.

This place is a perfect spot for lunch. I came with my toddler son. They had a high chair available. I had the Mamasita salad with beef and shrimp on top, dressing on the side. Kiddo had fries and chicken fingers. Both were delicious! The staff were really friendly. I recommend checking this place out.

Really enjoyed our first visit and will be back! Our server, Tru was on her 3rd day and was awesome! Wasn’t too impressed with the chips so that’s why I took off one star. Really liked the salsa - seemed to be fresh and made in house. My wife had the birria tacos - she loved them and they were HUGE! I had a chicken taco and two steak tacos - all small street tacos which I liked . The chicken was very good - shredded instead of grilled which was unexpected. The steak tacos were incredible! Next time I’ll get all steak!

Small little spot with free parking; there is bar, inside, and outside seating available. Food was average. I had the shrimp quesadillas with rice and beans; the shrimp were small and not well seasoned. Rice and beans were just ok, but the chips and salsa were great. My Daughter enjoyed her chicken enchiladas which also came with rice and beans. I spent around 43.00 with tip. Service was good and attentive;

Yelp
I went back even though I wasn't sure if I would and my previous thoughts still stand. The service was much better this time, but the food still leaves a lot to be desired. I tried their street tacos, and they were good and pretty cheap. I just wish they had a little bit more flavor. However, the birria tacos and rice and beans were just not good. They had like no flavor and it was super pricey for what you get. The rice and beans had absolutely no salt and just weren't worth getting. The birria tacos also just weren't that good and were just greasy without a lot of flavor. The outside patio is nice but can get loud from the street noise so I wish that the music that they were playing wasn't as loud because it can get a little hard to hear. At this point, I've been 3 times, and it has never been that good. I really wouldn't go back.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. It's so delicious and great staff. Such a cute place. There is parking in the back.

Yelp
Sopa de Tortilla - Might've been the best Mexi soup I've had in looong time; Not light or slight on anything; HUGE portion, be prepared, No Kidding. Full-sized pieces of avocado bathed in some nice hottt Chili Ancho spices. It will do for most. We got checked on multiple times by multiple staff; Kind bartender knew his biz, ordered a B.Mary (not on menu) and he killed it. Portion sizes are Huge, Have to say that again ;) Be ready to eats; gots me lunch fo tomorrow. Dug the casual vibes of the place, Younger crowd; will certainly be back at this mystifying Cocina :)

Yelp
The food is delicious, I keep coming and try different foods. I enjoy coming to Santo Cantina, the staff are wonderful and attentive! It is always a Joy to come and dine here. The ambience is lovely and feels magical to sit outside, eat yummy food, and people watch!

Yelp
I came around 6:30pm on a Friday with a group of 4. We were seated immediately, although they were more busy by the time we left. They do have covered outdoor seating with heaters, but it was still too chilly for me. Everyone ordered a margarita and enjoyed them. We also enjoyed the free chips and salsa (probably ate too many). For dinner my husband and I had the birria tacos. They came filled with meat, I really appreciate that they didn't skimp on the meat! I felt like it was missing some flavor but my husband thought it tasted fine. I'd be open to returning but would probably order something else.

Yelp
This is my go to Mexican spot in town! Service is always great and you're seated quickly. Margaritas, salsa, and the food are all great! I really have enjoyed the tacos and enchiladas.

Yelp
After driving by this place on numerous occasions, I finally decided to come on an early Tuesday evening and sat at the bar. The ambiance is casual with tons of natural lighting, and as the sun sets, the place becomes dimly lit as if you're back in a cantina in Tulum (woke up a core memory of mine). As a first time patron, I had my mind set on the delicious Lobster tacos and paid no mind to the taco specials, but took advantage of the half-priced Margarita special. John was my bartender-extraordinaire and took care of me. My "spicy" marg was perfection! The free chips & salsa were amazing, especially since everything is made in-house. Word of advice: Ask for a to-go order of the chips & salsa. Save your receipt for a discount at their sister restaurant "Calle" located down the street

Yelp
We love this unique Mexican restaurant in the Avondale area. Today we sat on the patio for the first time and it was a beautiful day. The hostess was super nice and made sure our table was clean and we were comfortable. The waiter (Shaun) was very helpful when we asked a few questions. All this is great, but the reason we come here is the delicious drinks and food. We love the Santa (House) Margarita, but the hubby tried the Jamaica Margarita today, it was sweeter but good. House salsa and chips are so yummy! Guacamole is delicious and the Queso is always a hit. The hubby usually gets the lobster tacos which are great, but today he tried the Mole Ojo Rojo (which was so good). I usually get the Verdes O Rojas (chicken enchiladas) which are wonderful with that verde salsa, but I tried the tacos (carnitas and al pastor) and they were amazing! Can't wait to go back..next week!

Yelp
I have been here once before and remembered enjoying the experience but surprised I didn't share. This place gives you a private romantic but trendy vibe. Like you can do this individually, date, girls night out it works for all of those. The people amazing. I brought my kid and they where awesome about knowing what we needed without saying. But the most important part is the food. I love a good carne asada so went with that. Since it was Tuesday I did the special which was there margaritas and it was good. I know I was impressed. But I would say they drinks alone does it. But the food is absolutely delicious. I also appreciated that the sever thought to ask how I wanted my steak, did I want flour or corn tortillas and just the consideration all around.

Yelp
We just had another great meal at Santo! Come out and support! No problem with parking on a Saturday night!! We had the carne asada and spicy guacamole! So good!!

Yelp
Have dined at Santo quite a few times over the last year. In the beginning the food was great. Over the last few months it has had some up and down moments with my taste buds. Therefore an overall rating of 3. Most of the food is beautiful to look at. The plating of the dinners is amazing with color. The best thing we have had there recently was the guacamole. You fall in love with the presentation and it is huge. Presentation a 5. All of the street tacos have been very good. Simple is sometimes better. Chicken Tinga is great. Street Tacos a 5 The salsa rona was outstanding a year ago. Something has happened. Neither my spouse or I care for it at all. Other friends that frequent Santo have agreed. This past week I asked for salt and lime to try and jazz it up. Didn't work. I asked if they had any other and was brought some salsa verde. It was outstanding. Salsa Rosa a 2 and Salsa Verde a 4+ overall a 3. The Verdes O Rojas, shredded chicken with a green sauce was spot on. The refried beans very bland. The rice was just ok. Rating a 3+ Now for the Beef Fajitas. Some of the worse we have had. No taste. A bit tough and all the lime juice and salt in the world could not help them. But then there is that beautiful presentation. Rating it a 2. Service is almost nonexistent. They are always on slowmo. Friendly enough but just down right slow. Another rating of 2 Atmosphere is nice and typical of a Mexican Cantina. Rating of 5. Will return because it is close.

Yelp
Until today, I didn't think you could get authentic Mexican outside of Buford. El Rey del Taco holds a special place in my heart, but sometimes I don't feel like heading out that way or ordering in. I've had Santo on my list for some time and finally decided to head in around 5:45 for an early dinner. I can't remember the last time I had such a memorable meal. In addition to the complimentary chips and salsa (which were both very good and fresh) I had a spicy margarita, two skirt steak tacos, rice and beans, and a shrimp street taco. It was all freaking delicious. My only small complaint is that you can't mix the taco meals that come with rice and beans... the two have to be the same. The server was very helpful and attentive and suggested since I couldn't get the shrimp taco as part of that meal that I try a shrimp street taco instead, which proved to be an effective substitute. We also enjoyed sitting on the outdoor covered patio on a warm winter evening. There's a small parking lot which I could see being an issue on a busy night. There's also limited seating between the indoor and outdoor areas. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Santo Cantina & Cocina is a cozy place! We knew it was a casual atmosphere when the high school aged host said "We got a 4-top but it's got a rez on it for 7pm... but if yall promise to get out of here in 60 minutes it's all yours." I wouldn't say the food, service, or atmosphere was perfect enough to warrant a 5 star, but I had an awesome dining experience and enjoyed my enchiladas a lot. Santo will definitely be on my lineup of local Latin places for when I get tired of Taqueria Del Sol, La Fonda, or Superica.

Yelp
Avondale has a New Mexican cantina for us!!! Avondale is a quaint little city. Within the last couple of years new developments have changed the look and weekend offerings. Parking and access: Located off a high traffic road, be careful entering the small shared parking lot. Eating area: Indoor and covered outdoor eating area. Small restaurant, if your coming with a large party - call ahead. Food: I wasn't really hungry. Go figure!!! Just wanted to check out this new spot. I love that the guacamole comes in different flavors. I didn't want to seem like a punk, so I went for the hottest they had. I loved how chunky it was and I could see all the fresh ingredients. It went great with the warm chips, queso and salsa I had. Ambiance: Lovely decor. A couple of TVs that normally have sports on. Really fun environment. Really cool to hear Spanish speaking guys rooting for their team. Go check it out. Prices and staff were fun as well. I hope they don't change much.

Yelp
Wow! I've been here several times. The consistency of flavors rivals that of the most delectable offerings from corridors like #bufordhwy and other points #northatl. The service is friendly and welcoming, and the vibe is cozy but airy. I'm not sure if the owner appreciates clientele. But the staff kinda does. Here's what we had: - Mexico City Street Tacos with a deep roster of turf meats including: Suadero (roast beef), Chorizo, Asada, Pollo, Campechano (Roast beef y Chorizo), and carnitas. We loved all of these well curated meats each and every time we've visited. Shrimp and fish options available. A+ - A really fun Mexican Burger - an 8oz Angus hand crafted patty topped w/caramelized onions & poblano chili rajas, chorizo and melted Oaxaca cheese. Second with fries. B+ - An unforgettable Mole Ojo Rojo - This combination of two traditional Mexican moles comes w/ a chicken breast or in this case a leg and thigh option accompanied by sesame, onion, sour cream and grated fresh panela cheese served w/Mexican rice. Very good, very filling and savory with a kick. B

Yelp
Food is consistently good. Service can be hit or miss. A good vibe overall, and a spot you should check out in Avondale Estates.

Alex P.

Yelp
The food was great! like, REALLY good. The chicken was very delicious, not to mention the staff were also incredibly nice. When I ran low on water They came with an empty glass bottle and poured it like champagne, also kept the mood incredible It feels like a small shop, i mean thats what it is, but this little local resturaunt was a great place to eat on our trip from florida! They give you chips and salsa for free the first round, and for just an enchilada and i think a fahita (butchered that spelling), was only 30 dollars, which in my opinion was great for the quality of the food.

Yelp
Santo is going to be my new go to! The service was amazing and the food was delicious. The daily drink specials make it an easy decision any day of the week. We even got a discount on the receipt to visit their sister restaurant Calle Latina, another favorite! It's a small space but it's laid out well and doesn't feel cramped. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Wow. I had my doubts from the outside. And we were there on a Friday night and the place was packed. The greeter asked if we had reservations and of course we didn't, but they found us a table and got us in right away. This is a true Mexican restaurant, not Tex-Mex, all Mex. Specialties from Yucatán, Jalisco, some serious mole. Yea they have fajitas also, but the menu has some seriously good choices you just don't see in your average Tex-Mex restaurant. This place is so authentic you will worry about drinking the water. I got the birria tacos, my wife got the mole and my daughter the baja fish tacos. All three were amazing and shared between us. I do not write many 5 star reviews but this place earned it. I will be back and try this place again. I highly recommend. Not really the best place for small children. Very noisy and hard to have a conversation in the dining room. But the food made all that fine. They have an extensive list of cocktails but we did not sample any so I will just say they are available. If you get a chance check this place out. Reading the other reviews it seems some did not like the chips and salsa. Well they must have fixed that issue because ours were amazing. Definitely chips fried on-site and the salsa would have to be ground with a stone pestle next to the table to be more authentic. Not what you get at the box and chain stores. Real cilantro, fresh tomatoes. It was really good.

Yelp
Wonderful spontaneous discovery! Great flavors and a great spot. We stopped in here after a trip to the DeKalb Farmer's Market for Thanksgiving provisions and really enjoyed our lunch. Plus Tuesdays are half priced margaritas so my passenger enjoyed that too. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Underwhelmed. Meh. Came to this cute lil neighborhood spot for some appetizers and quick drinks and was unimpressed. Positive- the margaritas were pretty good though... a little syrupy but not bad. Negative- the food and service. The guacamole was pretty good, would recommend. The shrimp aguachile, hard pass. It was just a No all the way around. Definitely not worth it... pick a different menu item. Oh and the table salsa, not what you would typically expect of a Mexican restaurant - tasted like canned tomatoes. Just wasn't hitting' AND it's not free. Apparently they charge you $3! Lastly, the service wasn't so great. With such a small place you'd think it would be easy to keep up with the tables, but the wait staff was slow to respond. Good place to go if you want some drinks and guacamole but I'd pass on some other menu items.

Yelp
Cute New Mexican place in a very unexpected location. Food was really good. Great dog friendly patio. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Will definitely go back!

Yelp
Delicious carne asada street tacos, small but mighty. The chorizo/beef mixture tacos was yummy, too and the refried beans didn't disappoint, either. We will be back!

Yelp
I've been to Santo Cantina & Cocina twice now, once dining in and once to go. Located in Avondale estates, right at the corner of N. Avondale road and Ashton place, don't drive too fast or you could miss it! Here's what I ordered to go: Arrachera (steak) Fajitas: $22 Sopa de tortilla: $8 Dine in orders: Guacamole en molcajete $11 Santo bowl: $16 Sopa de tortilla $8 Starting off with the positives, every item I tried was pretty good! Dining begins with your eyes, and the presentation of the dishes here at Santo, at least while dining in, look colorful, flavorful, and are just as delicious as they look. The Guacamole en molcajete is impressive for guac, and must be shared just from the size. Chips come with it and man, it's so fresh and tasty. This by itself could be your meal. My favorite dish was the Santo bowl, which comes with ingredients you're used to, like black beans and rice, but they also surprise you with sweet potato, green tomato, etc. And you can tweak the ingredients however you want. Sadly photos of the soap de tortilla didn't get taken, because the soup was half gone before I thought about it. Nice flavorful and nicely sized soup though! We actually came with a party of eaters who had dietary restrictions, and like I said above, 5 stars to staff accommodating us on every request we had. When we dined out, we sat outside. It was chilly, but they have heaters in their outdoor dining area. Their center table outside is also pretty slick. It's glass and lights up white, at night. Nice touch. There is a full bar, and plenty of tables inside. We only had a party of 3 but we saw groups of 6 or more coming and going. Parking in the front can be tight, but there is shared parking to the left of Donatos pizza, sitting next to Santo. I'm glad Santo Cantina & Cocina popped up here. The fact that it's not 5 minutes from my house means I'll definitely be back. Hope to see you there!

Yelp
Sat at the bar on a Monday evening on a beautiful day. Patio was pretty busy, but inside not yet. The bartender was attentive and friendly, and made the most smooth and tasty peach margarita. The service team was exceptional and fast. The chips, salsa and verde enchiladas were very delicious topped with cabbage salad and pickled jalapenos. Returning soon.

Yelp
Had lunch here Sunday. Avondale Estates can have difficult parking but the shared lot with Little Hippo had ample parking at noon on 17 March. Little Hippo was closed so that likely helped. Micheladas were enjoyed but they come in a large glass and it is a lot of volume to drink. Collectively we had guacamole, mole enchilada, fish tacos, and chicken tinga. Guac is a generous portion topped with red onion and other fresh items. The guac is garlicky and very delicious. Chips were fresh. Regarding the fish tacos, you get two large tacos, rice and beans. The fish was fresh, deep-fried, and tasty. I got corn tortillas. Tacos are served with a mango salsa...very nice. slightly sweet. The Mexican rice and refritos were both very good. I got the house hot sauce. It was not as hot as the server warned. Your mileage may vary. I tried my wife's chicken tinga and it was also very good. Flour tortillas appeared to be house made due to size and flavor. The service was excellent. Why did I rate this a 4, not a 5? It is not fair but when my wife ordered a Michelada, I thought of Topolobampo https://www.rickbayless.com/restaurants/topolobampo/. That is where we had our first Michelada. The food is good here guys. I think it is as good or better than many reputed BuHi places. However, it is not Rick Bayless good.

Yelp
Visited on a Wednesday evening because we were told they have a live mariachi band from 6-8pm. They have seating in an enclosed patio, inside and at the bar. We opted to sit inside and were greeted with menus from our server. We were then brought chips and salsa while we looked over the menu. The chips were ok, nothing special. Would've been better if they were warm, but the salsa was good. My fiancé ordered a smoky margarita which was different for him, but he really enjoyed. I ended up ordering a Santo margarita, which I liked. For dinner, I got the nachos without chicken and whole beans. He ordered the Gobernator as a burrito. As we waited for our food we enjoyed the band and our drinks. Our food arrived and everything looked delicious. The nachos were some of the best I've ever had with a great flavor profile. His burrito was also different but flavorful. We both agree that this was by far one of our best Mexican restaurant experiences. I highly recommend giving them a try and definitely go on a Wednesday to experience the mariachi band.

Yelp
Came with a friend for drinks and a bite. It was a weird time of day, (3:00 pm) so they weren't really busy. Alex, our bartender, was on point! Drinks were lovely. We shared the birria tacos. They were awesome! An order comes with 2 tacos, rice, beans, and all the trimmings, including a rich dipping consume. We shared the food but man, those tacos were completely stuffed with juicy, flavorful meat. Will definitely return!

Yelp
What a great way to spend a warm afternoon in February! 75 degrees! We actually found this place just passing through looking for the new park. The entrance was a little tricky but after we found our way in ...it was awesome! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a cozy layout. Our server Justin, was on it! He knew the menu, made excellent suggestions & answered any questions we had. I ordered two impossible (off menu selection) tacos and a skinny pomegranate margarita. It was oh so good! As a side note, the park is a beautiful new addition to the area but be sure to have margs here after!

Yelp
I've had a hard time finding good Mexican food since I moved to GA from California. This place was LEGIT. Their x-spicy salsa is incredible, the Mexican Style Burger blew my boots off! (Chorizo, caramelized onion, roasted poblano, Oaxaca cheese, & chipotle cream) !!!WOW!!!

Yelp
Table for 2 for Lunch Approaching the restaurant, I noticed there was a nice-sized parking lot right next door.  We entered and were quickly seated outside on the patio, without a reservation. Our server came by with our complimentary chips and salsa. Wifey and I ordered a couple of beers. She had a Pacifico lager and I tried the Santo, a Mexican beer.  My beer looked frozen and when I advised our server, Keegan, he quickly replaced it, without question. We reviewed the menu and I ordered the Chicken Mole Ojo Rojo while Wifey opted for the Shrimp Fajitas.  We enjoyed our beers while waiting for the food to come out.  From what I could tell, they had a small indoor dining area.  The food arrived quickly. My Mole dish was good, but one piece of chicken tasted dry and overcooked. Wifey loved her Shrimp Fajitas and had a little leftover to take home. Overall, we had a good experience and will come back to try some other menu items.  Keegan, our server, was a winner.

Yelp
This breaks my heart not to give this restaurant a five; this was the second time that I was there, and the first time my entire experience was absolutely fantastic. I have started a "Supper Club" with some girlfriends, and this was our first outing... I made a reservation the week before for seven people, and I confirmed the reservation the day before we went... they didn't seem to have our reservation down, but took a new reservation anyway. One of the girls dropped out, so I called the restaurant that day and changed the reservation to six people. Our reservation was for 5 o'clock, and when I got there, my friends had already arrived, and they had seated us at the table by the kitchen... The rest of the restaurant was empty. When I asked the employee who came near our table if she was her server, she replied that she was the manager, and I asked her if we could move as I did not want to sit by the kitchen.... She actually rolled her eyes at us. I could understand if the restaurant was full, but I had called about our reservation three different times... Why would you sit us at the worst table in the restaurant? She did move us, which I was grateful for. I'm not sure yet how everyone liked their food, but I did not actually like mine....i got the birrea tacos; the rice and beans for some reason did not have that much flavor; the meat inside the tacos was great, but I did not like the shell... That's just my personal preference, and that's on me. Our server was new, and she was great.... After we got there, the restaurant filled up completely so they were swamped., and she was nice enough to take care of one of my friends cocktails-she had ordered the Mojito and was not happy with it... Apparently it did not have any mint flavor and had no mint in the drink. My margarita was really good and so was the old-fashioned that my friend had. I'll be coming back to try it again and hopefully it will be a better experience... I'm local and drive by the restaurant all the time and it's always crowded..

Yelp
It was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. Tasty food and a very cute interior space, as well as a large outdoor patio space.

Yelp
It was pretty good! Not exceptional, and too expensive for the quality of what they are delivering. Chips and salsa were good and customer service was very solid. I got the mahi mahi tacos (2) and they were $24. So, $12 a taco. They were good, but nothing about them justified the price to me. My partner got their "tequila mockingbird" signature cocktail and it was watery and flavorless. The reality is these days many of us can't afford to eat out with any frequency, and this fortunately or unfortunately is putting a lot of stress on restaurants to really step up their game to compete for customers. This place to me can't compete when you take into account price + flavor. There are better places in the area!

Yelp
Sat at the bar - great margaritas, free chips and salsa which is a huge win these days, and the enchiladas suizas were delicious. It was a great portion. They were also playing Christmas movies inside and outside. Definitely recommend

Yelp
Good enough parking for 6pm. Smallish to medium sized accommodations. Amazing bar service. 10s across the board. Our bartender was the best drink maker I've had. The vibes were immaculate. Food was phenomenal. Loved it

Yelp
Service is always subpar and today was crazy (which I"ll explain later), but food is always good. When a waiter says "you said...." when discussing a menu and doesn't even have a grasp of the menu that's when after 3 really good meals here you say, maybe I'll just leave as the universe is saying don't eat here today. Conchita Pibil is my go to but the Mole Ojo Rojo is really good and I usually don't like Mole. Hubby loves the Huachinango a La Veracruzana (Red Snapper) . They have a really good bartender at night. So today after seeing the place with 3 folks and 4 waiters I thought I'd breeze in and out. I pointed at the top of the menu for the Chicken Tinga which is the dinner. Waiter tells me that's just meat and I'll need to decide whether I want tacos, burritos, etc. I said at the top of the menu are all dinners and the at the bottom of the menu is when you have to make those choices. I pointed at the menu (see photo) and said I pointed here and he said "but you said..." They have an updated menu so maybe the young man didn't understand, but the Manager needs to better train his staff and tell them not to argue with the customer especially when they are wrong.

Yelp
Queso w/ chorizo: 5 Chips & salsa: 4.5 Birria tacos: 4.5 Pineapple empanadas: 4 Pomegranate margarita: 4.5 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 5 Overall: 5!!! Everything about dinner tonight was fantastic. Arabia is a wonder waitress - Attentive but not overly so. The food was sooo good and the vibe was just right. I really hope they take the cleaners space next door and expand this restaurant. Avondale Estates needed this badly! Hands down, the best restaurant in the immediate area (Avondale that is).

Yelp
Outstanding Mexican cuisine in the area of Georgia. Amazing food with different dishes, good service and a good ambience where you can enjoy your meal. My place to lunch when I'm in Kensington, Georgia.

Yelp
My husband and I drive by the restaurant frequently and always say we need to go to this restaurant. We finally went last Saturday and really enjoyed it. The food , service and ambiance were great. Plenty of parking less than 2 minutes away. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Came here with my husband and toddler for lunch today and we will definitely be back. Service, food, and atmosphere was fantastic. They have a large patio and one of the walls of the restaurant opens up so indoor seating becomes almost like outdoor. We got there a little early before they opened (Note: they open at 11:30am, not 11am as posted on Yelp, which I've submitted a correction for) but they let us hang out on the patio and wait for them to set up and open. We decided to take a quick stroll around the downtown area instead. Our server was quick to greet us and already had chips and salsa in hand as we picked our table outside. All the food we had was delicious and made me excited to return to try other things. Salsa, queso, street tacos (pollo, asada, chorizo), arrachera tacos, and kids quesadilla. The salsa tasted fresh and homemade with roasted tomatoes and peppers. Portions were decently sized and filling. The kids quesadilla was probably the best value since the portion was more for a hungry adult and came with rice and beans and only $7. PStreet tacos were $3 each and had LOTS of meat, onions, and cilantro server with plenty of lime wedges and a green tomatillo salsa.

Yelp
Hair in my nachos. Staff was very friendly and comped meal. But I used to love this place now I can't see anything but that

Yelp
To date, I think this is probably the best Mexican restaurant I've been to. Classy, with indoor/outdoor seating. High quality gauc, salsa, chips and smooooth margaritas. Every one of our four were happy with their meals.

Yelp
Maybe coming here for the first time on cinco de Mayo was not a good idea or unfair for a fair review. Hostess was blah and sounded clueless on how long the wait was. I added our party's name to the list and I hung around. I noticed a big center table with one woman eating on it. Then 2 other people came in and asked if they could sit on the table end. I also noticed 2 tables that were reserved with no one sitting on them for 40 mins. With that said, their website has "order online" and "make reservations" links but do not function. It directs you to call them. After waiting for about an hour, I decided to place a to-go order instead. Everything we ordered - steak and chicken tacos, and nachos (we ordered steak but we were given chicken) were good. I asked for hot guacamole but it was barely mild and tasted bland. I'll go back to try it one more time since it's close to my house.

Yelp
Simply put, this is quite possibly the best Mexican/Latin American food I've eaten in years if not EVER. So fresh. So much flavor. I can't wait to come back. The sangria was delicious as well.
