Santucci's Original Square Pizza - Ventnor, NJ

Ordered a regular and a Gluten Free pizza while on vacation. It certainly hit the spot and was different from the thicker Detriot style and wasn't flat as a cracker. Would definitely order again if we were somewhere and they had a location.

My employer ordered pizza from here yesterday and all the employees and I agreed that it was the worst pizza we’ve ever had, tasted like it sat for a week before they delivered it, the plan looked and tasted like day old cheese bread, the sauce only pizza looked like it was painted on the dough, all the pizzas were terribly dry. Would rather eat Chuck E. Cheese pizza than this. I can not speak on behalf of the other food but 1/5 do not recommend getting pizza from here it was gross, we all just threw out all our slices and just went to our cafeteria to eat.

I'm from Philly where we know food, so take my word when I say this place has the best pizza I've had since I moved to south jersey. I personally think the plain is fantastic. Great ranch dressing too, that matters. 10/10.

We’ll do this review in steps: 1.) My friend and I arrived at the upstairs patio around 4:30pm. We asked to be seated inside downstairs, because it was about to start raining. We were told inside was closed, so we were sat at the bar on the upstairs patio (because the manager “didn’t want the servers having to go up and down the stairs”). 2.) We waited about 10 minutes to get menus and for our order to be taken. At this point, it is raining and we are getting soaked. We then asked if we could, once again, sit inside. We were told to move downstairs and sit wherever inside. 3.) Once inside, we did not have a server and had to ask a different person for help each time to get menu’s, silverware, and eventually place our order, despite the masses of wait staff standing around, rolling silverware and chatting amongst each other about how much they hated the restaurant. 4.) When I finally placed my order I asked for a veggie works pizza, with added black olives and extra sauce. What was brought to me, about 25 minutes later, was a pizza with just Kalamata olives. No veggies at all, just olives, that weren’t even the kind I asked for. At that moment, we had waited so long for food and I was so hungry, that I just ate it, rather than sending it back and having to wait another half an hour for food. BUT, I took a picture of my pizza so that I could prove that I shouldn’t have be charged for veggie pizza when what I received was a kalamata’s only pizza. (Pizza pictured below, for reference.) 5.) We also ordered garlic parm fries. They were soggy, clearly frozen, cold, and just dusted with parm. 6.) When the check arrived, (which had to be provided by the bar “because we were at the bar upstairs and it was impossible to transfer it to a table”), I was charged $3 extra for my “added toppings.” I then proceeded to explain to one of the many different servers that my pizza was not in fact a veggie works with added toppings, but just an olive pizza, and that I shouldn’t be charged extra, when I didn’t even get the basic toppings. The sever claimed that the $3 was for the “extra sauce.” When I continued to try to explain that my pizza wasn’t even the original veggie pizza that it was supposed to be, much less an “added toppings” order, the server said “the manager will be over shortly to talk about it and explain.” 7.) 20 minutes later, the manager, who was behind the bar directly across from our table, still had not come over. By that point, my patience had run out, so I ended up just paying and leaving in order to get on with our evening. Overall, poor service, bad attitudes, mediocre food, and far too many complaints by the service staff about their own restaurant. Save your money and your palate and go elsewhere.

Cannot go wrong here. The upstairs deck is the place to be on a breezy summer evening with mucus maid and friends. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. I crave the pizzas here every time we are down the shore.

Great place for the family and the food is outstanding! Fyi well done margherita is the way to go! Not a mask to be found is the only issue tho...if they had enforced local ordinances it would for sure have been 5 stars but when the town the restaurant is in has the city hall close down for covid cases you would think they might pay a little more attention to this is all.

Our bartender Alec was great, and the food was delicious as always. There were plenty of TV's to watch the football games, pool tables, video games, and lots of space to move around. Great place!!

Ordered take out. Pizza, Stromboli and cheese steak. Let's start with pizza, lots of sauce, great flavor, crust was a little greasy, but square pies can be like that, the crust was delicious. Stromboli was loaded with meat and onions, absolutely great. My daughter gave the cheesesteak 5*, the fries were however 8 out of five stars. They were just that good. I refuse to complain about the technology fee $1.67, $1.00 delivery fee. They did not charge a credit card fee. I feel a little bad for the delivery guy, when I ordered on the phone, I told the guy to put a tip on the card, and he did not. So service was not 100%, even though delivery was hot and got to me faster than the 30-45min they estimated. I do take issue that the cheesesteak doesn't come with fries, you have to order fries separately, not the case at the South Philly location. If I factor that against the reported deliciousness of the fries, the review stays 5/5.

We ordered delivery from here through Grubhub. Then we received a message 45 min later that the restaurant handles their own delivery. Then DoorDash took over. An hour and 25 min later the food arrived like warm at best. I took a bite of chicken... and realized it was undercooked and raw. I'm so grossed out. I've never experienced a restaurant serving food like this. I never write scathing reviews like this. But now I'm hoping I don't get sick. (See photo/ which doesn't even do it justice). This is just poor attention to detail. The chicken was already sliced so it wouldn't have been hard to tell it wasn't cooked. At all.

Ive tried my best to support this business being a local resident. Ive tried for years. But never again. Every visit involves for the most part being your own waiter. There is always mass confusion with the staff and zero management present to rectify issues and utterly horrible service. Eventually, a server will come to your table. You'll see them 45 minutes later when they show back up with your drinks. You will have to ask for napkins. You will have to ask for silverware. You will have to ask for water. You will have to ask for pretty much everything. You'll have to remind them You ordered appetizers. You will never get your drinks refilled unless you consistently wave them down. Most recently after a $300 bill for a table of 4 I decided to finally leave a review on google. They responded and asked me to email them about the issues. Sure enough I did. I did not get a response. Shocker. I was generous enough to remove the review. Staff consistently acts as if you're an inconvenience for simply entering the building. If There are more than 10 people in the place expect to wait 45 minutes for a drink. your food will never come in order, last time our appetizers came with our check 45 minutes after we told them to just cancel them. Even on winter evenings when the place is empty, the staff is more involved with themselves their laptops and iPhones and will leave you empty-handed for 20 minutes and you still have to wave them down. It's like they don't wanna make money. This business preys on the fact that in the summertime majority of their visitors are vacationers who don't know any better. Just this past weekend I ordered a cheesesteak. This sandwich is the equivalent of a dollar menu item. After all this time, I'm the one that feels like the fool for spending so much money over the years. Thousands of dollars. If you're desperate for a business to steal your money and not appreciate you as a customer at all then definitely come here.

Very friendly staff. Not so good food. Got seated right away and got placed at a very questionable shaky table. It felt like an earthquake was occurring everytime you shifted something on the table. As a peer tried to cut his food another peer's wine completely spilled everywhere. The staff was aware from the start it was wobbly table, but the other tables were reserved (and some were also very wobbly) so they did not offer us a different spot. We ordered food based on some recommendations from the waiter and some that we wanted to try. Short Rib Fries - Fries were not very good in terms of taste and crisp. The ribs were ok... tasted like cheap meat Fried Mozzarella - Standard not bad, nothing unique Ultimo Burger - the patty tasted like a microwaved, very bland and had to add ketchup for any flavor. Baked penne - was definitely the best item I tried on the menu. Very rich creamy pasta Mango Cart Draft Peers - Not bad. Only $6 for a draft so very reasonable. Cabernet Sauvignon Wine - did not taste good whatsoever. Would not recommend. Aperol Spritz - the splash of soda water was more of a dunk. Not enough flavor because the soda water was too much. The view was nice as you are high up and can get the ocean breeze. The ambiance looks nice, and they have a backdrop "corona" sign. Music was just getting set up as we were leaving, but they do have live music. The staff were very nice, but seemed very inexperienced (not knowing drink names, etc.). The kitchen was SLOW AS MOLASSES. Took sooo long to just get the appetizer and soooo long to get our food, we asked for our check as soon as the food came out. Food: 2/5 - not good food in anyway Ambiance: 5/5 - great beach restaurant feel Service: 3/5 - friendly staff, but terrible tables, and terribly slow paced

This was horrible, we are so disappointed with our experience at santuccis. My friend got her burger 20 minutes before the other food came out. My other friend didn't get hers until 20 minutes after we got ours. Not only that, the fries didn't come out until after we got our food. Very unorganized and all run by kids who don't care or know what's going on. Kid came out with a cardboard box for a chicken parm meal. Never coming here again. Would give zero stars if I could.

The pizza is delicious, however, you will lose your appetite over how dirty the place is. The menus, s & p shakers, etc. are filthy...they clearly have never been wiped or put in dish washer. The bathrooms need a hard, thorough cleaning. The decor & lighting are so bad. Having one of the few liquor licenses in Ventnor City....surely they can do better. Sorry.

Had reservations and were seated under a very loud speaker blasting very crappy music. The waitress pretty much sucked. We had to ask for plates and silverware. Since when does an appetizer come out 2 minutes before an entree? I had to wait to start eating because my wife's order did not come out yet. Her pizza was good, my chicken parm... I've had better. Don't go on Sunday evenings when DJ Looch is there- he's terrible. They knew they had a birthday party there b/c of the cake. Maybe someone should've told Looch about it. Should have gone with my first instincts- either take out from Unvle Ginos or a trip to Angelos in Atlantic City. I'll give them one more shot. This was my 2nd visit. Personally, I think they're overrated because they have a bar.

I've been going to Santuccis in Philly for a long time so I was happy to see one in Ventnor! This one has that down the shore vibe. The downstairs is quiet with booths, tables, a few outside tables, a bar and games. The upstairs patio is a party with 2 bars and lots of seating. The upstairs gets crowded fast. It's one kitchen so we waited 40 minutes for our pizza. The waitstaff was good. The square pizza is delicious just like Philly. It has a good crust not too thick or thin. The cheese is put on first with the sauce on top. The pizza isn't as greasy. The sauce has a nice tang. Salads, pasta and sandwiches are also on the menu. There is also a drink menu, full bar and a variety of beer. The red sangria was very good. no parking lot; street parking

Tonite was the 2nd Problem Delivery I've experienced with the Ventnor location! After waiting almost an hour for delivery the wrong pizza was delivered. After being promised a new order would be out to me within 20-30 minutes I waited another hour to have a cold pizza delivered. Very disappointing! Time to find a new pizza place!

When to Santucci's today, was ventnor block party. Sat down didn't get menus until we flagged someone down for them. Our waitress brings menus and ask what we wanted to drink, didn't get ours drinks until 20 minutes after placing drink order. While we were waiting for drinks another waitress come over and ask what would like to drink, we said we gave the other waitress our drink order. She says oh she told me to come over here. She took our food order. Food took forever we were almost done our drinks. Food order came out separately. My husbands wings where cold. Not once did the waitress apologize. So at the end we had to go get her for our check. She comes back at states that it's her first day. We will not be returning. Very sad.

Food is great.. service is great but extra fees are not great. WTF? Ownership wake the F up! Technology fee? Pass the credit card charge on to customers. Avoid this place! Cut the charge and may re review! Won't be back

Kimi and Russ (Mitch!!!) were the best bartenders. Great conversation, delicious food, fire cocktails. Highly recommend the upstairs bar - there was live music during the day. Food was delicious, owner was super accommodating and nice.

Best pizza in the world in my opinion. Santucci's is just a special place. Never disappoints. Reminds me of home and good memories. People complain about the stupidest crap on this app.

We gave this restaurant another try and were happy to find that the food was much improved and the service was pleasant and, if not perfect, at least much better. The specialty pizzas were very good - we had the white mushroom - and our Caesar salad was large and very tasty. We are definitely glad that we gave this restaurant another try and would return again.

So good steak sandwich , and a fabulous salad delivered , pleasure; efficient , pleasant ; could, should be simple , was ! Caesar Salad

Can't go wrong with the square slice. Tomato pie, plain, white, all delicious. They have great chicken fingers and fries. And the Granny Smith apple salad with goat cheese is incredible. Restaurant is nice, cool vibe, nice upstairs and live music.

Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Santucci's, specifically the pizza. To start we ordered a Caesar salad to share. Unfortunately, this salad was a disappointment. The dressing had no "zing" -- it was very bland (no garlic flavor) and too much dressing on the lettuce. At $14, definitely not worth it. But I presume that people come here for the pizza and with this, Santucci's did not disappoint. We ordered a large square pie to share (actually a rectangle) and we all thought it was great. Crispy crust, yummy sauce, and very appealing. I just hope that Santucci's ups their game for the Caesar salad.

Sat at the bar upstairs overlooking Ventnor Ave. on a Saturday afternoon. Service was great. Had a few Mango Carts and 2 personal pies. Delicious!

I decided to take a stroll to Santucci's. A had a Chicken Caesar Salad for lunch. Very good, I'll say. Not many people inside as it was the middle of the day. A pleasant experience overall.

First time trying the pizza and it was so well made. Crust was nice and crispy which is my favorite. We got a Margherita pizza and fish tacos. The fish tacos were a nice size and came on corn tortillas.

They are absolutely incapable of completing an order. Even though our hostess knew it was wrong, she just said I told them ... blah blah blah. Same prob for the ppl next to us 20 mins later. Add to that the screaming level club music at 2:00 on a Sunday while the the DJ sat down to eat as well. HIS ORDER WAS WRONG TOO!!! This is just all wrong.

I don't know what's worse, the food, service or ambiance. Not sure why they play like club music instead of authentic Italian music for the vibes...it's so loud that u can't hear your own conversation. Their classic dish was really bad, just overall bad experience

My second visit for the $10 lunch special. The personal pizza that I had during my first visit was decent. I decided to try the Chicken Cheesesteak Sandwich. Huge disappointment. If there was cheese and onions on it, they were well hidden. The diced chicken (I assume it was a breast cutlet) was rubbery and completely devoid of taste. I tried adding ketchup. Not any better. How about some grated Parm? Nope. The roll looked like it would be good but with nothing to taste, it was hard to tell. The portion size was more than adequate, but that only meant that there was more tasteless rubbery chicken to try to eat. I only ate half of it, brought the rest home and will try to do something with the chicken chunks to get the rest of my money's worth. Won't be going back. Your mileage may vary.

Service was very GOOD, food not so much. If you can't get your signature dish to be outstanding, what chance do you have with the rest of your menu? Square pizza ; basic plain crust. Cheese, tasteless, and the thin application of sauce did nothing for this pizza. Took home leftovers but seriously considered dumping in the overflowing trash can outside, will attempt to jazz them up with my own sauce and cheese of a higher quality. Btw, the salad dressing should not be tasteless when ordering a Caesar salad. The dressing makes the salad in this case. Bland and very mayonnaise like. As locals , I am sad to say we won't be back. On another note, the live music was good. Disappointed that we wasted our money, so glad we didn't have to wait in line as the summer visitors do.

This restaurant has the worst customer service I have ever seen. The people who answer the phones are clueless. save your time and money, and order food from somewhere else.

I wish i could give it a 0. The plates were extremely dirty with old disgusting dried on food to the point where we sent back food that was just brought out. The upstairs bathrooms looked like port-a potties from a construction site. Food looked like it was previously frozen, and the pizza was pizza hut quality. Will not return to this establishment.

I have never been to a restaurant where the manager talks bad about their own employees to customers. Disgusting. Our bachelorette party left because they felt so uncomfortable being around disrespectful behavior.

I only get their pizza. I think is one of the best on the island. Read some other reviews; very varied. I know the inside dining can be sketchy. My biggest issue is the "technology fee" WTF is that? It is a surcharge for using a credit card? I know lots of places are doing it. That does not make it right. I believe you can refuse to pay the charge if you are not told up front. I know running a business can be tough but asking for the "technology fee" and asking if you want to apply a tip on my $20 take out pizza. Get serious

This place is very cool Outside, upstairs deck is extremely nice and great entertainment. The staff is friendly and the food is outstanding, can't go wrong here, the manager jumps in to help out the staff, Our server Francesca was so pleasant and professional she is a keeper.

Needs a rudder. Staff seems unmanaged, and perfectly cool with completely ignoring customers... or potential customers as we did not even get seated. Staffing issues are one thing. Saw plenty of them, but they seemed to not want to acknowledge that they were seen by us.

I've been a fan of santuccis Pizza since its origins began in Philadelphia. The location in Ventnor has been a big disappointment more times than it has not. In just this year alone, we have had staff struggle at taking orders over the phone, two hours to get an order delivered seven blocks away and upon arrival, it's typically cold and shifted and not very good. The prices are astronomical, which is understandable for a seasonal town, but at least provide some quality. It's quite incredible to have so many mistakes and let downs from a pizza order. One of the aforementioned orders we actually ordered from another delivery service after an hour, waiting for this place, and that was delivered faster and better quality.

We waited over 20 minutes just to get seated with a reservation. The service was awful and just seemed like terrible management. The waitstaff was trying their best but just seemed spread really thin. No water for the table unless you asked, no water refills. Then one of the entrees for our 6 person table came probably 45 minutes to an hour before even our apps came out? It seemed so off and we didn't end up eating for much later so that one person was awkwardly done eating before anyone got food. Then our salads came with the hot meals, just making us feel not cared for as customers. The pizza was good but the entrees were not even edible. I ordered the special for the night pasta with clams and I think I would have gotten food poisoning if I didn't just try a few bites, the clams were definitely bad and the pasta was plain without any flavor. Honestly probably the worst entree I've had at a restaurant, ever. I was really disappointed in the experience. I hope management steps up to care for the customers!

Been here a few times and have always had a good experience. Friendly staff and great pizza!

I ordered food online from this restaurant and they charged me$84 but when I went to pick up the order it was$74. I don't know why I was charged an extra $10 for the same food. Please don't order online call if you want their food.

I like to support local business but this place needs to care more. Been there many times over winter months when it's pretty dead. Now that's it's summer they need adapt. Downstairs was completely shuttered and upstairs staff so overwhelmed we were ignored for over 5 minutes waiting to be seated. If someone had acknowledged us we would have been happy to wait. We had to just leave. So much potential...great location...liquor license, but if you won't staff your business appropriately you're going to lose lots of potential customers. At this time of year the whole restaurant really should be open. Such a waste.

Most of The food was actually good. The service from the kitchen was horrid. The wait staff tried their best, but the food came out randomly, and then salads and entrees came out all together. The clams were rancid and unedible.

The pizza is horrible. We ordered 3 pizzas and calamari...had to believe all the food lacked any taste at all. How do you mess up mariana sauce and cheese, well this place can do it. No it was so easy to get a table. I'm not going back ever.

We order pizza from there all the time. Saturday night we ordered a pizza with sausage on it. When we arrived home with our dinner there was two pieces of sausage on each slice. What an absolute disgrace. The pizza hardly had any cheese on it and was so thin and the crust also that I had to call. The manager said this is their new pizza and if you don't like it don't come back. We will not be ordering any food from here ever again. And the owners should handle the situation with the manager.

The menu prices don't reflect the actual prices for things. We were shocked when our bill was over $20 more than anticipated. Will not be returning.

Let me start with a very important issue: this place is really good about mask wearing and the place is very clean. But! The service is just not there. We waited 15 minutes for a waiter to approach us. No one did despite several of them chatting with each other. They could clearly see it. So we gave up and wait to a place across the street, which albeit busy, accommodated is right away. Certainly no chatty waiters there

Brand new restaurant in Ventnor. Ignore the reviews before May 2020 as they are not related to this location. We had the specialty pizza plus a mushroom flatbread and short rib fries and everything was good. The fries were a bit soggy though. Delivery was quick too. We will definitely order takeout from here again. Eating in is a different story. The food is good But the staff are only mildly interested in waiting on you. And the drink prices are ridiculous. $12 for a glass of wine and $9 for a domestic draft beer. So take out for us.

Liam is so nice. I came here because my flight got canceled. I was in a terrible mood and he made me feel like i missed my flight for a reason. To meet him. He made me laugh all night! Great atmosphere and drinks!

Great food and can't beat the outdoor dining! Love the wings and pizza. Salads are huge! Great bar selection too. Excellent friendly service - love it! so grateful they are here in Ventnor! Looking forward to them offering brunch! Saturdays and Sundays tarting June 18th!

Coldest drinks best pizza in town. Love the bartender and owner is very visible with staff and patrons alike. Great outside deck and beautiful covered patio!!!

I have to say this place is fantastic! Friday early evening we walked in and were seated right away! Everyone was social distanced and had masks going to seats. The service was top notch! Devon took such good care of us and was the sweetest. Drinks were great! The Gorgonzola, granny apple & walnut salad....so yum! I'm coming back just for that salad!! My hub had the works personal pie & I had the margarita personal pie. Hot and delish. I know this place got tough reviews, but that was not our experience. Would highly recommend! We will be going back!

lThe upstairs was a beautiful venue to eat dinner. The service was great. The DJ hired for the night was blasting music at 6:30pm, extremely loud and for a meal that was inclusive of all little children and families, to be pushing a decimal of almost 90 which is damaging to the eardrum, is unjustified. Truly a disservice to this otherwise pretty decent meal and service.

I was very hesitant to order from here given the reviews. However my husband loves this pizza in PA so we opted for it today. We ordered a variety of items for the family. Here's my honest review. The food was delivered timely and as promised. Pizza: Way thicker then most other locations. I still dislike it, but my husband said although thicker, he enjoyed it. Wings: gross. Don't get them. Cheap quality, fatty, and poorly cooked. Cheesesteak: subpar. Nothing to right home about. Decent, but the roll way way too big for the amount of meat put in it. Parmesan fries: gross. Soggy, oily, just nothing good about them. Spaghetti and meatballs: passed the kid test. Personally I didn't try it. Cheeseboard: was pretty good, but I expected more then 1 type of cheese. Not sure where the "vegetables" in this were. We tried it, probably won't be ordering from here again.

It is the second time in two weeks that the service has been very slow. The food is good but it takes too long for the order to come to the table. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that the manager was away. Someone needs to manage the restaurant so it can improve the service issues.

Pizza and salads are just ok. Placed an order for pick up. Was told it would be available in and hour and ten minutes. I arrived an hour and 10 minutes. Was told order would be right here. 45 minutes later still nothing. Of course teenage staff does not admit mistakes and does not give reason for the delay. Horrible service. And staff couldn't care less. No apologies. Management no where in sight.
