"I've learned that Santucci’s Original Square Pizza, an iconic Philly purveyor of square pizza founded in 1959 by Joseph and Philomena Santucci, is expanding into New Jersey for the first time with a planned fourth location in Ventnor City. Owner Blake Barabuscio has applied for a liquor license for a space on Ventnor Avenue two blocks from the boardwalk that is currently a hardware store (earlier reporting that Arrow had closed was incorrect; it is still open). Unlike the original Italian Market location, the Ventnor outpost will serve alcohol rather than being BYOB, and it appears to be the first alcohol permit granted to a restaurant in the municipality since a 2016 vote allowed such permits. The city’s board of commissioners voted on the bid on May 24, and Barabuscio estimates the new spot should open next spring, so it likely won’t be ready for this summer." - Tim Forster
