Had a great experience at Sapa. The lamb sauté bento box really impressed--huge portion for just $18, and the lamb was coated in a flavorful, rich sauce with just the right amount of heat. The salad on the side was crisp and refreshing, especially with the light, citrusy dressing that balanced out the meal nicely. We also shared the calamari, which was a standout. Super crispy with a light, airy batter, and the dipping sauce had a sweet and sour blend that had a subtle Southeast Asian vibe--really addictive. It came out hot and fresh, and the portion was generous. The sashimi plate was beautifully presented and tasted just as fresh as it looked. The sauce on the side was unique--not something I've tried before, but it complemented the fish in a really cool way. Definitely better quality sashimi than what I've seen at most other spots around SLC. Service was attentive and friendly throughout, and we only waited about 5-10 minutes for a table, even on a busy lunch. Overall, Sapa delivered on both flavor and value. Solid spot if you're craving Japanese or fusion in the area.

I loved everything about this place, and I’m not even a sushi guy. I was able to make my own custom roll, I call it the Brady Roll…anyway, super good. It was basically a sushi version of a burrito. Fantastic food, and great service!

Google
This is my favourite spot for sushi. I live in Lehi but always want to go there for sushi, it's worth the drive. The food never disappointed (especially fillet mignon & margaritas). The price is very reasonable. That's why they always busy.

Google
Holy expansion Batman. This place has tripled in size. Thank you!!! The food will leave you dreaming about the food. The service is good. Parking is the only thing that sucks but it’s worth the effort. The masaman beef is my new favorite and something that I cannot wait to eat again. It’s a whole new way to eat a banana. You can thank me later!

Google
Sushi was amazing and super fast! The spring roll was not the best and they hardly give you any peanut sauce and charge for extra. Really cool environment, unfortunately we were approached by a homeless guy right outside. Not the best environment outside, but inside was awesome .

Google
Sushi was really good, I got the wagyu bento box. They asked how I wanted the meat cooked to which I replied medium rare. I’m Not sure why they asked if they were just gonna cook it all the way through lmao but the food was great anyway. Good portions, good beer, lovely atmosphere. Would come back.

Google
I loved the layout, decorations, and especially the patio at Sapa Sushi. I wish it had been summer so I could’ve enjoyed dining outside. The prices are fair, and the ingredients were very fresh. Customer service was excellent, and the space is accommodating for large groups. The sushi was delicious—not extraordinary, but made with good-quality ingredients. One thing they should improve is their table cleaning process. The washcloth they used had a noticeable humidity smell, which was not appealing. Overall, it was a good experience, and I’d recommend it!

I love sushi and crave it often. I decided to give this place a try and it didn’t disappoint at all. The sushi was filling and delicious. I loved the sauce on the rolls.

Yelp
Updated: I have now been here several times and am ready to share some of my all time faves, the things we keep going back for. My personal tastes and those of my friends will be included, as we have come together several times and tastes and interests vary. Jake, our waiter, has been here since our first visit, and we were lucky enough to have him again on this most recent visit. My favorite dish overall is the Massaman Beef! It is packed with many textures and flavors and sits in the most beautiful massaman broth. I also enjoy the Volcano, Dinero and Lucky 7 Sushi. Each is unique, but quality made. My friends enjoy and keep coming back for the Filet Mignon entree and Vegas roll. They have quick service, so don't let the line turn you away. You won't regret visiting here.

Yelp
Take out sushi always sounds like a bad idea, unless you're coming to Sapa. I've had take out here a number of times and it's always consistent and quite good. Getting good sushi in a landlocked state like Utah is a tough ask but Sapa delivers. I have tried a number of rolls and have always been satisfied. I've had the fried jalapeños, which were a bit bland and the calamari which was oddly sweet. Despite the appetizers failing to live up to the hype, the rolls make up for it. I have not had the opportunity to eat here in person so I can't comment on the service though the place is always packed which is surely a good sign that they're doing something right. It's on my list of places to dine in, but for those looking for take-out, look no further!

Yelp
I would call this sushi spot a speakeasy sushi location because it is slightly difficult to find where the door is. Then, when you walk in, it is surprisingly very large with multiple rooms! Each room had a different vibe, some more colorful and some more lounge-y, but all of them, very cozy and comfortable. The staff was also so kind and attentive! Next the food...amazing. The garlic noodles were so savory and umami forward, we couldn't stop eating them. The pork dumplings were so fresh and tasty! Also, the two sushi rolls we got were perfect because one was light and then other was heavier. They balanced each other nicely and were so delicious! Lastly, they made an amazing Gimlet! I will definitely be going back when I am in Salt Lkae City again.

Yelp
I was craving sushi and Sapa was in the area. Craving satisfied! There are tons of options to choose from - sashimi, nigiri, hand roll, maki, simple rolls or specialty rolls and many more. It was a little bit of menu overload, but in a good way. The service could have been a lot better, considering that my friend I was eating with got all of his food 10 minutes before I got mine so I told him to go ahead and start eating. It was also confusing as to who our waiter was, as we never got a full introduction and several people had brought us drinks and food throughout the meal. At least we were able to get seated in two minutes from walking in the door.

Yelp
Sapa! Everyone loves sapa, they have such delicious options for sushi since they have every option you could imagine! My boyfriend only eats vegetarian sushi and sapa has the best options for that. Try their lychee martini it's incredible! My favorite is the Low Ryder roll, and the E brooklyn, also their banana curry is incredible! The service is always stellar your appetizers come out insanely fast and are always a hit. The outdoor seating is a must on a summer night it's gorgeous.

Yelp
We ordered four different sushi rolls and they all had so much flavor and were so fresh! We ordered the Philly, Vegas, Samurai, and Imperial roll. Our favorite was the Vegas roll! We sat in the back patio and it was perfect in the shade. Our waitress was great and kept our water glasses full throughout our dinner.

Yelp
I love sushi and crave it often. I decided to give this place a try and it didn't disappoint at all. The sushi was filling and delicious. I loved the sauce on the rolls.

Yelp
Forgot to take pictures of the rest of our food because everything was delicious. The lychee martini is divine and all their drinks are reasonably priced!! I didn't love the calamari, seemed random, had random deep fried jalapeños

Yelp
This place has always had great sushi, this time I came the place was full so the food did took longer than usual but it was worth the wait.

Yelp
One thing I didn't love was finding the place. While the building is quite big, you have to really look to find the sign on the building. Then, when you walk in, it's still not immediately clear you are in the right place. You walk into a small room, with a sliding door. When you walk through the sliding door, you then find the front desk and are seated Decor wise, I've never been to Japan, but I certainly get the vibe it would be something like this. This is the most incredible sushi restaurant I've ever been to There is TON of seating, and it looks like they may even serve people outside in good weather. The service was also great. Our server really knew the menu and was able to suggest rolls based on what kind of fish or taste we were feeling. He also ensured our drinks were constantly filled and was even super quick to clean off garbage (like straw wrappers) nearly the moment I put it on the table. The sushi however, was just okay. Perhaps by design, I found the rolls lacking in the flavor department, and the nigiri was quite thin with rice that was a little dry. None of it was bad by any means, but I'd probably put it in the middle of the pack compared to other sushi I've had. Despite this, for the atmosphere and service alone, I am excited to come back soon

Yelp
Showed up with no reservations for Valentine's Day weekend. After about 45 minutes we were given a table. We ordered two rolls, drunken noodles and the filet appetizer which were all delicious. We also tried a different appetizer that did not meet expectations and we returned that with no hassle. The playlist this night was amazing and I made sure to compliment the waitstaff who was responsible. Fair amount of seating and well lit.
google avatar

Missy M.

Yelp
Love Sapa! I recently tried this sushi place out with friends and we loved every roll we tried! There is live music on the weekends and the whole place has such a fun vibe to it. Parking can be tricky because it's downtown but we usually find parking on a nearby side street. The service is great and we felt welcome while we dined at Sapa. I would recommend this spot if you enjoy great sushi
google avatar

Yelp
Anyone else go to a restaurant a dozen times and never Yelp because they assume everyone knows how amazing it is!? That's me, but I'm finally going to give you my two cents. Everything I've ever put in my mouth from Sapa has been delicious! So order whatever sounds good and you won't be disappointed. Today we ordered the kamakazi, lucky 7, dragon fly, black dragon, volcano, and Sapa roll...I think. Hard to keep track. Rolls are beautiful, flavorful and unique. The ambiance is stellar. Service is rough sometimes because they are so busy. Our waiter forgot us a little today.

Yelp
This place was awesome! It gets dark earlier this time of year so the door in can be easy to miss but the experience was wonderful! We were a little pressed for time and were seated right away. We told our server we were ready and that we were a bit pressed for time and she was great about accommodating our timeline! The food: We ordered edamame to start and it was excellent! I ordered: - salmon sashimi - sake Maki - gluten free Blazing Jazz without the crispy fried shallots due to a shared frier so there is cross contamination My friend ordered: - Samurai - and one other I can't remember. All the food was EXCELLENT! The fish was very fresh and again our server was phenomenal. She noticed that we were missing dishes before we had to tell her and our water glasses were always full. I would absolutely come here again.

Yelp
I've been here many times over the years and it's always delicious with bad service. Tonight I came with a group of 8 with reservations of course and our table was ready on time. I hadn't been in a while but knew the secret rolls were where it was at. The veggie tempura was crunchy and not soggy and the sauce was incredible. I ordered the kids chicken dinner and it was plenty for me. The teriyaki sauce was different and had crunchy things on top. Even the California roll was fresh. My table enjoyed the cocktails and I wished the Sapporo draft was colder and drafty. It was pretty flat. Our server was amazing and on top of all of us ordering here and there. Parking is rough to find and they have a very small parking lot. Its actually what keeps me from dining here more often but after tonight, its worth it. Oh BTW if you plan on drinking alcohol, the hostess will ID you then stamp your hand. I guess it's better than looking for your ID when your sitting down and have put everything away. Place was packed so get reservations.

Yelp
This place is worth the wait! We waited about an hour without a reservation. We knew it was going to be a wait so we didn't mind at all. The server we had was great he answered all of questions and was super attentive to our table. The table got a couple rolls to share and they were all very delicious. The edamame was a must and my favorite roll was the crispy garlic one! If I am ever in town again I will be coming back!

Yelp
We're new to the area and visited here for our first date night and everything was amazing. Our server Christine was completely transparent and provided the best recommendations. We ordered a noodle dish, sushi, a salad and one cocktail! The food tasted fresh and full of flavor! The atmosphere was relaxed and beautiful! The teamwork amongst employees was incredible! Prices were affordable! I think this is the first restaurant I never asked for a refill in and my water was always full and I drink a lot! Overall it was a great experience, would definitely recommend !

Yelp
First time here and it did not disappoint. The service is quick and our waiter was very kind and he took great care of us. The imperial and volcano roll were my favorite. I also loved the ufo. Everything was very fresh and high quality. The spicy edamame was delicious and the potstickers were big, juicy, and actually homemade. They were so tasty. I highly recommend Sapa!

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Sapa Sushi, though the ladies I was with had been here before--last time was 10 years ago! The place is huge, and when we arrived and checked in, it only took about 10 minutes. I thought there might be a long wait, but we were seated quickly. The waiter was attentive, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. The calamari basket and oyster shooters were outstanding--I'm already craving more. Their sushi selection was also delicious, with great options for those who love raw sushi. If you're not into cream cheese or fried sushi, you'll still find plenty to enjoy. I can't wait to go back again!
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Great spot! They don't take reservations for groups less than 8, so if you're wanting to not wait, get there around 5pm. There's usually a line at 5pm to get seated. The sushi rolls were delicious and had a great selection of options. The chicken and steak entrees were delicious and a must order! All of it was delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Sapa does sushi right. It's a positive dining experience from the moment you walk in the transportive door. The decor and the ambiance are perfect for a romantic date night, a night out with friends, or even just a causal business lunch. The food has never disappointed. It always tastes fresh and expertly prepared. We tried a couple new cocktails and enjoyed them a lot. And, as usual, the service was sublime from beginning to end. If you've never been to Sapa, you should give it a try. If you have been to Sapa, keep coming back.

Yelp
Such a great spot for some sushi! Might even be my favorite sushi in the area. I order the Venus roll and it's just perfect. The fried rice is also AMAZING. Probably even the best fried rice I've ever had even. The cinnamon cake with ice cream is also a must. The service is always great and so quick even with a large group. The restaurant has such a cool vibe and is the perfect spot for a night out or a date night. A must try in the area!!

Yelp
Walked in around 7:30 pm on a Friday night. I went by myself so I was sat at the bar. I didn't drink but Simon was very attentive and gave amazing suggestions. I wanted tea but they were mostly caffeinated. So he brought me lemon, honey and hot water and it was a great alternative. I also asked for a fresh and fried roll. He suggested the blazing jazz as the fresh roll and cypress roll. They were both great suggestions and were tasty. He has vast knowledge of the menu. He explained things for me but I also over heard him at another table. Not only did he always made sure I have refills, empty plates taken away, he checked in on me, he was also taking tables and behind the bar. Yet not one time did I feel forgotten. He is a great server and asset. The place was super cool too, the glass art fixtures and way it was decorated. When I walked in and sat down, one of my favorite posthumous Mac Miller songs played. I knew then, I was exactly where I needed to be in that moment. 10/10 would go again. Service was amazing, cool ambiance and the vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
Rolls ranking: Low rider 5/5 (would get again, especially if you like Tuna) Maui wowie 4.1/5 (delicious mango, wish there was more fish) Kiss of death 3.9/5 (pretty good, just a basic tuna roll) Sake nigiri 4.2 (according to friend) Negihama maki 3.6/5 (hamachi nigiri is better)
google avatar

Yelp
The interior is beautiful and way more spacious than we expected. We sat at the bar and had fantastic service from Simon, who gave us some great recommendations and made amazing drinks. The spicy edamame was delicious, and the sushi was super fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend stopping by for a great meal and atmosphere!

Yelp
Sapa sushi is a delightful sushi restaurant located in Salt Lake City. There is street parking out front and also a lot you can use across the street at the weed shop, which they also own. Came in to dine on their all you can eat option which is only available for about 90 minutes. So you have to get there immediately at open if you want this option. We were greeted and seated promptly and the bartender (who was our server as well since we sat in the bar area) came and took drink orders, which he then promptly filled and brought to us. He then took our food order. The sushi throughout the meal arrived fresh and full of flavor that you'd expect from a good sushi establishment. The fish was fresh, the flavors were perfect, and the taste was delicious. I look forward to my return to Salt Lake City so I can come back and eat here once again.

Yelp
Fantastic sushi, great service for our very large party, and the environment was so fun! We had a great time here with incredible food. I had the dragonfly roll, cucumber and avocado roll and a spring roll - everything was delicious!

Yelp
Sapa is the best restaurant for a nice lunch or a romantic dinner. It's versatile and has something for everyone on the menu! One of my favorite restaurants in SLC, definitely my favorite sushi spot.
google avatar

Dustin T.

Yelp
I used to love this place but came here after a couple of years of not stopping in and it's just not the same. Service was unfriendly, sushi was not great, smaller portions with very little fish on any rolls and yet more expensive than many less expensive alternatives in the valley. Sad to say I won't be back as I used to come here 5-6 times a year.
google avatar

Lilly K.

Yelp
Sapa is always a hit for us. They have great service, ambience and sushi! We went with a huge party and our server was truly a part of the celebration with us. He was patient with all the orders and cake we brought. We got a variety of rolls and like most places its more of a wait with fried rolls but i loved each one. Would definitely come back for another special occasion.
google avatar

Chelsea C.

Yelp
Hunger level 2/3 (hungry) The service was quick and friendly for a bustling Saturday night. The food was fantastic and we enjoyed all of the sushi. The server made great recommendations for different rolls. The only drawback for the food side of things was that the drink menu was lacking especially if you don't drink alcohol. The ambiance was fine for my boyfriend and I but it could be hit or miss depending on who you are sitting next to. We sat next to a large party that was intoxicated and celebrating a birthday which we didn't mind, but tables next to us were. If you're looking for a place with solid sushi and you're not picky about drink menus or you're not looking for a particular ambiance Sapa is a great choice. Sapa was a hit for us!
google avatar

Yelp
Live music on the patio is the best vibe for this place. The food is great, friendly staff and the outdoor area makes for an authentic experience. You almost forget you're in downtown Salt Lake.

Francisco A.

Yelp
Great food! Great ambience! The service is the only thing I've had a problem with a couple of times I've been here but the taste of the food makes up for it.

Marcus M.

Yelp
Food was great, we had the all you can eat 5-6:30 pm. Definitely worth the money. Can easily eat your way to save some money. Also, enjoying everything along the way. Service was great, McKenna was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations. Overall, will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is great. We got takeout, but I can't wait to come back and dine inside. The atmosphere and decor makes for an interesting setting. The light fixtures alone are fun to look at. The sushi chefs make the sushi up front while looking over at the guests. You can also tell that this place is loved. I think k saw 3 different celebrations going on and it was a Tuesday! The food: so good. The rolls were well put together and the dumplings were unique but still familiar. The price point is comparable to other sushi places too.

Yelp
If you love someone, you'll bring them to Sapa. I'm obsessed with Sapa's teriyaki beef entree and the sunset roll. It's my go-to order and never disappoints. I'm not sure what they use to marinate their teriyaki beef but it is bursting with flavor every time. The sunset roll is so beautiful and tastes just as good as it looks. I love the citrus-y lemon on top of the roll. Service is consistently kind and quick. One time I've gone in the past we had this server who was an absolute hoot, made the best recommendations, and was overall so hospitable. Highly recommend you try Sapa if you haven't yet!!
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
Fresh sushi, speedy friendly service, hip ambiance Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi! I got the Cyprus roll on the "secret menu" and it was delicious. The secret menu rolls are around $17, but plenty filling for one person. There are also a lot of no sushi items on the menu- something for everyone, even if you don't like sushi (noodles, curry, and teriyaki) Parking: there is street parking and a large parking lot behind the restaurant that is paid parking. Fyi, right now they seem to be out of salmon
google avatar

Hayley C.

Yelp
I love the vibe in this location! It's actually so much bigger than you can imagine too. I've never had much of a wait time here. On the outside it may seem a little interesting but on the inside it is so beautiful and an underground vibe. The sushi is amazing!! It tastes so fresh and also does not take too long to get! This is cute for a date night or even if you are with a large group. I've been here for both and with a group of 10 we had a wait on a Friday for only 5 minutes. Service is friendly and helpful but also a bit busy at times. No complaints here!
google avatar

Yelp
Just hit this spot up for my birthday. Service was great and they have a great selection of non sushi options. The sushi is one of the best in slc for sure!!

Yelp
What a huge disappointment after I bragged about how amazing our dinner-in was going to be. A friend was arriving on a later flight so I ordered three typically amazing sushi rolls from our favorite local place, SAPA. Let the sadness and disappointment begin. The order arrived on time- $60, three rolls, one teeny tiny container. Awful presentation and far less than the SAPA experience I've grown accustomed to knowing. One roll has tempura shrimp, which makes the container feel warm - gross. That one should have at least been separate. I will absolutely NEVER order takeout from here again and as much as I'll miss it, likely strike it from my go-to list.

Yelp
Wowza! We were visiting my brother in SLC recently, and he took us to Sapa for our final evening! He really hyped it up beforehand, and boy did it deliver! This is a must-stop on our next trip to SLC. The restaurant isn't in the most glamorous of Salt Lake neighborhoods, but don't let that keep you away. We were able to find parking adjacent to the building, although there isn't a dedicated lot. There was already a line on a Monday night when we got there just before it opened at 5pm. We were seated right away in the lounge/bar area! The interior is lovely...modern, Japanese-inspired urban interior with plenty of character inside the restaurant and on their patio. Servers during the stay were mostly attentive, timely, and friendly. We started out with the seaweed salad and calamari. The seaweed salad was great, but came topped with other unnecessary vegetables. The calamari was perfect...lightly breaded and served with fun dipping sauces. We ordered the Philadelphia Roll (a wonderful version to the classic roll), Samurai Roll (a little spice, a little garlicky, and a lovely side sauce), the East Brooklyn Roll (lovely and innovative lime flavor coming out of this spicy tuna roll), and the Spicy Tuna Roll (not a spicy mayo-based roll, which we originally thought). Probably would pass on the Spicy Tuna Roll in the future. Definitely top 3 sushi spots I've ever been to, so check this one out!

Yelp
Had a great dinner here with a large group. The food was delicious and service was fast. We were seated in a private area which allowed us to mingle privately. The yellowtail in ponzu sauce with jalapeño was my favorite. The Thai American waitress took a great care of our large party.

Yelp
Came here for a work dinner/holiday party, and we PARTIED. I would never recommend trying to come here without a reservation. These people mean business, and I mean the guests and the hosts. You will wait a hundred years to get in. Just make the reservation and save your sweat. We came here for lunch, and it was a pared down menu, but still sooooo many options. Our favorites were the volcano (amazing, delicious), black dragon (kinda spicy, but very yummy) Cyprus (a HUGE surprise, it sounds like it will be really spicy, but was quite mild. Also, this roll is massive), and the big surprise that ended up in everyone's top three was Green Giant. It's a vegan roll, so no one believed in me or my choices, but I won the sushi ordering competition with this one and Cyprus. Their biggest dud was the Philly roll, which was honestly bland. The dragonfly also didn't get anybody's heart racing. This is a place where ordering more wild options is really going to pay off. My biggest complaint here is I hate having to pay for their parking, and we ordered drinks and the server kinda made a fuss about it. It was around the holiday time, and he did let us know he was very stressed and overwhelmed, which was fine. But we didn't super love getting shamed about ordering a fun beverage for our celebration (because he'd have to make it, could we choose something simple to not make this day worse?) It was weird. But overall, no dealbreaker, I'll come back again and order another drink lol.

Yelp
Sapa changed my opinion about sushi! This place has it all: delicious food, good service, and a delightful ambiance. The spicy edamame is wonderful! The lunch boxes are fun and you get a variety of foods. During the summer, you can sit outside in a courtyard that resembles a Japanese court yard!

Yelp
Who goes to a sushi restaurant and doesn't order sushi? This gal. But it's only because I'm OBSESSED with the yakisoba noodles here! As a vegetarian, going out for sushi is kind of an oxymoron, since the typical draw for sushi is delicious fresh fish. But there are some wonderful vegan and vegetarian sushi options out there, and Sapa is a place that has some really wonderful vegetarian roll options. However, I've never tried them because their noodle bowls are SO dang good! I can't get enough of their yakisoba noodles. The veggies, the tofu, the sauce, everything is so delicious. We ordered both the filtered and unfiltered sake and both were delicious. The carafe gets you a few shots each - we got two carafes for a table of four and I believe we each had 3 shots? That was the perfect amount for us that night. Our server, Sav, was amazing - apparently it was her second day when we visited? We would've had no idea, she was wonderful and took such great care of us. I love love love Sapa, and it's always such a treat to come here. It's always busy so get there early if you can! They also take reservations for larger groups of 8-20 people.

Yelp
Ordered takeout, so we don't know anything about their service and ambiance. Our original pickup time was 6:30 but we showed up a little early and they already had it ready for us, which was nice! Each roll was $17-$18, so more expensive than other sushi places. The rolls were pretty good! Probably would have been better fresh (if we ate there instead of doing take out) but they were still good. Our favorite was the Maui wowie. We're really glad we tried the Wok n Roll though because we have never seen a sushi roll with steak inside! Calamari was $15 and I really loved that. It came with a creamy green sauce which was so so good. They also gave us SO many containers of various sauces which is a plus. Overall - one of the more expensive sushi restaurants in salt lake but not necessarily the best tasting.
