Saperavi Social - Review - Highbury - London - The Infatuation

"Saperavi Social is one of our go-to restaurants for a cosy gathering. On our first visit to this Georgian spot, it was a drizzly Wednesday night, but the Highbury hangout was packed. Regulars discuss the merits of kharcho over satsivi with staff so amiable we’re pretty sure everyone reaches family friend status by a third visit. But it’s not just somewhere we’d like to hunker down with a bottle of rkatsiteli during a minor weather event. The food is fantastic too. The pkhali board, all spinach with vampire-defying levels of garlic and slightly sweet beetroot, is the best we’ve had. The chakapuli is clear and thin, but fragrant and tarragon-heavy, and the kharcho is more comforting than aBake Offwatch party." - Sinéad Cranna

Excellent and authentic food in a very cozy and inviting environment. Service is great and prices are very reasonable. The wines were a pleasant and positive surprise for me that had never tried Georgian wines before. A great addition to a Islington and a place that is worth visiting for sure. Looking forward to coming back.

Amazing food and wine, great atmosphere and the most welcoming people. Recommend sitting at the bar and letting the hosts guide you on the menu! My first taste of Georgian food, pics are below and I’d get it all again next time (but I’ll try the rest of the menu first!)

Understated little restaurant that came highly recommended and it sure didn’t disappoint. The service was super and the food was incredible. So fresh and delicious. The staff were attentive and rightfully so proud of their country’s cuisine. Happy to help us with explaining the ingredients and selecting from a menu brimming with amazing options. Amber wine was an absolute joy. An outstanding dining experience. 100% recommend.

I had never tried Georgian cuisine before, so this was my first experience — and everything I ate here was absolutely delicious. For starters, we ordered Badrijani, the Pkhali Board, and Khachapuri, and all of them were excellent. Georgian wines are already very famous, so whatever you choose, you’ll probably enjoy it. 😍 I will definitely come back!
